Starting point is 00:07:34 Go get your tickets now. Joining us to talk all things who ladies basketball and men's basketball as because the Lakers did what I knew they were going to be doing. He's the last senior to be taken number one overall, selected by the New Jersey Nets way back when in 2000.
Starting point is 00:07:56 The 6'9 enforcer from Cincinnati by way of Dallas, Texas. Here he is, ladies and gentlemen, 6'9". Kenyon Martin Sr. K-Mart, what are you doing? What's up with you, huh? Hey, I'm good. I'm good, bro.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Thanks for joining us. No problem. Oh, child. What up, man? Let's jump right into it, K-Mart. We saw the Lakers go on the road, and they did a demolition job on what many believe are one of the two best teams in all of basketball. Shea is going to win the MVP,
Starting point is 00:08:28 but the Lakers went in and they took them apart. They really never trailed in the game. They got the lead and they dominated them, ended up beating them by 26. Luka was sensational today. He had 30 plus 18 and plus minus. Austin Reeves, 20 plus 14 plus minus. LeBron chipped in with 19 plus seven plus minus. Rui had 11, but they got great production off the bench. Dorian Fetty-Smith, 14 points. Gabe Vinson, 12 points. With a lot of guys chipping in, they cleaned them up on the glass. They did a great job. I think the best thing they did today, K-Mart,
Starting point is 00:08:58 is they kept Shea ass off the free throw line. And if you can do that, because you know he's going to normally get to the free throw line about 10, 15 times a game. But I thought they dominated this game. What did you like about what you saw from the Lakers today? They just used the experience, man. Young team early, on this early Sunday,
Starting point is 00:09:18 caught them young boys, man. Some of them boys went out last night, man. They didn't know the importance of the game. They already got the West under their belt. So they like last night, man. They didn't know the importance of the game. They already, I'm saying, got the West under their belt, so they're like, hey, man, we can afford this one, man. No, the Lakers did what they had to do. They came in and they put
Starting point is 00:09:33 a belt to them, you know what I'm saying? They should have. They need this win. They're fighting for something. Oklahoma City, they already locked in, man, so I think it meant more to the Lakers to come in and play this way than it did for Oklahoma City. they already locked in, man. So I think it meant more to the Lakers to come in and play this way than it did for Oklahoma City. Are you surprised at the margin of victory that the Lakers –
Starting point is 00:09:52 okay, Lakers might have win. You said all that things being true. Okay, see, probably not taking the game as serious as they normally would. That is an early, early game for them. They don't play very many games. What time is that? That would be probably 2.30 that time. So they don't play very many games. What time is that? That'll be probably 2.30 that time. So they don't play very many games like that. They either play
Starting point is 00:10:09 4.30 or they play the late, late games being on the West Coast. But are you surprised by how well the Lakers played considering this might be at some point in time, this might be a matchup in the playoffs. Listen, man, I ain't riding with your legs like you are, dog. I know what you're trying to do off the head. If matchup in the playoffs. Listen, man, I ain't riding with your Lakers like you are, though.
Starting point is 00:10:25 I know what you're trying to do off the bat. If you don't watch the show daily, man, with me, man, I've been looking at the comments, man. Lakers in five, all that. Hey, listen, man. Right now, they're going to have to prove it to me. But we'll see. You said they young, K-Mark.
Starting point is 00:10:42 You said they young. Yeah. I wouldn't listen i would not want to play the lakers in the first round if i was any team in the west you know i'm saying just because the simple fact they have two game changers and bron and luca not taking anything off them guys play but i want to see the who who they match up with in that first round that's that's key to me you You know, if they mess around and the Nuggets slide to 4-5
Starting point is 00:11:09 and they're only 4-5, it ain't looking too good, man. So... It could be anybody. It could be the Nuggets. It could be Golden State. Or it could be the Clippers. Because the Clippers have looked really good
Starting point is 00:11:23 as of late. So it could be any one of those. The Nuggets, the Warriors, or the Clippers. Because the Clippers have looked really good as of late. So it could be any one of those. The Nuggets, the Warriors, or the Clippers. Who do you think is the best matchup? Who do you think the Lakers least want to face? And who do you think says, okay, this is a nice matchup for us? I think they would want to face the Clippers. I would stay away from Denver by all costs if I was them.
Starting point is 00:11:45 I really would stay away from Denver by all costs if I was them. I really would stay away from them. It's been proven when it's time on the line, they can't beat them. So I would stay away from them. No matter who y'all had, Anthony Davis, who's a hell of a defender, he couldn't do it with Nicole. So I would stay away from the Denver Nuggets at all costs. So, K-Mart, even though the Lakers have been hot lately, you know, they got the momentum going to the play-in,
Starting point is 00:12:11 going into the playoffs, whatever it may be, just so happened, hypothetically speaking, they do get the Nuggets. So you think the Lakers don't stand a chance at all if they have Denver in the first round? Ain't no chance at all. No, me and Gil have been going back and forth about this for weeks now, since the Luka trade. We've been going back and forth about this for weeks now, since the Luka trade. We've been going back and forth about this specific topic, and I'm not rolling.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Luka the equalizer to Nicole. No, he's not. I don't care what name. There's no equalizer to Nicole in the National Basketball Association. Look at what y'all been doing. This is why I disagree with you. I believe they can let Luca get, excuse me, let Nicola.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Nicola right now has 37, 13, and 11, and they're down 10. So you can give him, the problem that the Lakers were having, Yolk was getting his, but they were letting Murray get 30. They were letting Michael Porter Jr. get 25. That is where you run into
Starting point is 00:13:05 the problem. Nicola, it doesn't matter. You can have Anthony Davis, you can have Joel Embiid, whoever you feel is a defensive center. Obviously, those guys are great two-way players. You can give him his 40, 15, and 15, but what you can't allow are the
Starting point is 00:13:21 others, and that's what beat the Lakers. You look at Jamar Murray numbers against the Lakers. He's an all-star. He's an all-NBA player when he plays the Lakers, K-Bar. Absolutely. Y'all should want to stay away from him at all costs. Because he's still there. But I don't know if you know, he still played for the Nuggets.
Starting point is 00:13:36 And Michael Porter still played for the Nuggets. And Aaron Gordon still played for the Nuggets. And Aaron Gordon only plays good against the Nuggets. But this is what we got now. You think about it right now, over the last two weeks, our third best players have been one of the best players in NBA history. Now, Luka going to give you what he going to give you. You know that.
Starting point is 00:13:55 I know that. Austin Reeves should win most improved. There ain't very many third options better than Austin Reeves. Now, let alone behold. So, who are your two best players? So, which one going to grab Luka? Which one going to than Austin Reeves. Now, let alone behold. So, who are your two best players? So, which one going to grab Luka? Which one going to grab Austin Reeves? And which one going to do something with Go James?
Starting point is 00:14:11 I'm just waiting for you. You're a defensive specialist. Who are you putting on Luka? Listen, man, we're going to put... The way on God, y'all can't guard us, so it don't matter. Listen, Luka can do what he did. Because, listen, one, y'allall gonna have to put some non-shoers out there. Doran, Finney,
Starting point is 00:14:28 Smith, I'm not rolling right now. You gotta play Vando. Vando can't hit his ass with both hands. Defense. That's all we need him to do. Leave him open. We gonna double Luka, double Braun, gonna make them other guys make plays.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Officer Reeves can't carry y'all in the playoff series. I'm sure. You saw it. You see what he's been doing, K-Mart? That's a regular season, not in the playoffs, man. Did you see him against Memphis? When he got his horns, when he got them baby horns, you saw him against Memphis?
Starting point is 00:14:58 Not when you're the third option, man. When you own that scouting report as a third option, it's a lot different than the playoff series, but they're going to make that boy do something he ain't comfortable doing out there. Yeah, like dropping 35 on y'all. Uh-oh. We ain't coming dropping 35, but he'll get it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Everybody said they're going to double Luca. They're going to have to average it. I don't think he came on doing that. Oh, we don't need to average that. We just need to average what he's averaging All we need is our guys to average What they average in the regular season We cool
Starting point is 00:15:30 That ain't gonna be enough That ain't gonna be enough Hey K-Mart Looking at the landscape of the playoffs right now Where the seating is right now And looking at the table Who's a playoff super squad That can surprise everybody
Starting point is 00:15:43 And make it all the way to the conference finals? Nobody talking about, but they playing well enough. If they get in the playing or they get in the playoffs in general, they got a chance to surprise somebody and get to the finals. Golden State Warriors. Conference finals that day. Golden State Warriors, man.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Like, they... Yeah, I'm... The way they playing, man, they got some equalizing that people not thinking about they did some pieces that they haven't had before right right the kid coin post like a big like they need that where they can they can go big they can play small they can they can play me like they can play draymond at the five kamega at the four. You can play that way. You can play big. You can play Draymond, Kamega, and Post. You can play Trace Jackson.
Starting point is 00:16:30 So it's different lineups that you can go with, man. But Jeff Skids is playing out his mind right now. Yes. I would not want to play them the way, I'm saying, the way Wardell out there playing. And he got them boys believing, and they didn't do Jimmy in there. And his approach to the game is infectious to the locker room. So he challenges guys in a way that
Starting point is 00:16:54 Draymond has always had to be that voice. And at times it can get old. So now when you got a new voice in the locker room that's preaching the same thing and that's took lesser talented teams to two finals. Right. They can be
Starting point is 00:17:10 scary, man, with the same coaching with Steve Kerr. It can be scary. I ain't saying it, but it can be scary. Can you see that, K-Mart? Yeah, I see your hand. I know you used to catch... I know you used to catch passes with them, but I don't know
Starting point is 00:17:26 what the rest of that means. Hey, Steph Curry, Curry Goat, Curry Chicken, it don't matter. Ligger than this many. Hey,
Starting point is 00:17:35 Curry... You're right, Curry Goat. Absolutely. Hey. Trust me. Yeah, shut up.
Starting point is 00:17:44 But Shea, look, I think Shea should think Shea should win the MVP. Nope. He's not the best player. Absolutely not. Not to me. I'm going to hear what you have to say. I think based on what he's done, his team's record,
Starting point is 00:18:03 I think he had his 71st game where he scored at least 20 points consecutive, which is one of the longest streaks in NBA history. What he's been able to do, how he's been able to lead this team, I think he's first or second in steals. He's shooting a very high percentage for a guard. Normally guards that average in 30 don't shoot 50-plus percent from the four. That's what he's doing. But when you look at Nikola Jokic, if I say,
Starting point is 00:18:24 I will give you a player to take, K-Mart, you got the number one overall draft pick, and you get to select anybody, who you taking? I'm taking Nikola Jokic. Off top. What is it about him, K-Mart, that you like so much? He makes everybody around him better. And it's effortless. He's not...
Starting point is 00:18:44 Like, Shea is a hell of a talent. Don't get me wrong. I'm not taking anything off of his talent. He is definitely MVP worthy. In my opinion, he should have got it last year. I think whoever the voters, they dropped the ball and not giving him his just due last year because he's doing the same thing
Starting point is 00:19:00 he's doing this year as he did last year. He has the best record. He's averaging 30. He's just averaging two more points than he averaged last year. Correct. That's it. And they got better. They had Hardenstein.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Chet is coming to his own. He has an all-star on his team in Williams. Jalen Williams. So all the things that he did last year, he's doing again this year. And for them to give it to Nikola last year spoke volumes to me. Like, we recognize what he's doing. Nikola's playing the best basketball that we've seen him play within the three MVPs that he has already. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:19:43 No question about that. So you're going to penalize somebody who you've already given three MVPs that he has already. Absolutely. No question about that. So you're going to penalize somebody who you've already given three MVPs to and he hasn't played this well in those three MVPs. So I'm like, what else can we see from Shea? Shea would have to average
Starting point is 00:20:01 a double-double in this NBA in order for me. I've seen guys average 30 before. I've seen guys get to the free throw line a lot. I've seen that. James Harden did it, but nobody was doing what Nicola is doing in James Harden's season. It was nowhere to compare to him. So my thing for Nicola, it's you watch it and you you like, what else can he do? And he doesn't.
Starting point is 00:20:28 And you watch it get like, what else can he do? And he does it. But it's like. Well, we are looking at history here and I don't want to see us as in league do the same thing that the NFL do that they did to Lamar Jackson with messing with the history of the game. We're talking about the history of the game here, what Nikola is doing. And he's going to average a triple-double this year. He's going to average a triple-double. And I said, I'm going to let you go after this. We're going to look back and we're going to look at it like we did that
Starting point is 00:20:58 61-62 season when we'll average 50-25 and he didn't win the MVP. We're going to look back 30 years from now and look at Nicola Yoki's number where he averaged a 30-point triple-double and they say, well, he didn't win the MVP. They're like, well, who in the hell beat him out?
Starting point is 00:21:14 Exactly. So this is, and guys, certain voters have already got their mind made up on who they were voting for before the season is over, which is bogus to me, right? Guys, you got to finish the season is over, which is bogus to me, right? You got to finish the season out. So you can't discredit this 60-point triple-double that this man just had.
Starting point is 00:21:32 And people had already had their vote already cast before this game, before the last two weeks of the season. So you can't do that. And so how can you, oh, he's my MVP, he's my MVP, he's my MVP, when Shaa could come out and mess around. I'm a 70-point game for other people that might have had Nicole as their MVP. So I just think it's incomplete. There's never been a Cole.
Starting point is 00:21:56 There's been a Cole rookie a year before. So people are afraid to do that, which if you're really looking at it, let's be honest, they both are deserving of the war. They both are deserving of the war, but they're not going to do it. It's not going to be cold. And what is looking up to be that Shea will have his first MVP and the other guy would be left holding his job. Yeah. Well, hold on, K.
Starting point is 00:22:27 I got a question. Not to minimize anything that Luka's doing. Do you ever take into account the surrounding, the supporting cast that Luka has? You mean Jokic? You ever take into account
Starting point is 00:22:35 that SGA is doing what he's doing with Les? He means Jokic. Do we ever take... No, no. Nikola Jokic in Denver, not Luka. No, no.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I mean, Joe, I meant to say Jokic. My bad, my bad, my bad. Well, if you really want to be honest about it, Nikola Jokic has never, not Luka. No, no. I mean, Joe, I meant to say Joe. My bad, my bad, my bad. Well, if you really want to be honest about it, Nicola Jokic has never played with an all-star. So, she has an all-star this year. Yep. Until Russ got there.
Starting point is 00:22:57 So, he's been doing all this with an all-star. So, Jamal Murray is an all-star caliber player. Yes. Should he have made an all-star team up to this point? Absolutely. And we think that, but he's been getting snubbed. So for whatever reason, he hasn't. And Nicola has been carrying the load.
Starting point is 00:23:17 That's hard, man. I don't see why. And Lou Doran is an all-defensive player. Alex Caruso is an all-defensive player. Alex Caruso is an all-defensive player. So, Yolk, I mean, I think the thing is that Yolk is asked to do a little bit more. It would have been interesting. Let me ask you this. Let me put it to you like this, K-Mart.
Starting point is 00:23:33 Let's just say for the sake of argument, well, we see OKC, they have 64 wins. What would be the situation if the Nuggets had 60 wins? Could you make a more compelling case if he had 60 wins during the second seed, as opposed to right now, the Nuggets are in the fourth seed and they're 17 games back. 17 games back, I'm top three in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Top three in four major categories in the national basketball association 60 wins 65 wins they could have they could have broke the warriors record the golden um okay see could have broke the gold record hey man top three and four major categories
Starting point is 00:24:20 you can't there's nothing no one can tell me. They got six to win. There's 17 games back. All, yes, all those things exist. And at the same time that this man is out here with history. So yes, Shea, absolutely. But hey, I'm getting the big guys some love, man. Starting point is 00:27:37 and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey, Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas. It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know. As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity.
Starting point is 00:28:02 There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair.
Starting point is 00:28:27 And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do.
Starting point is 00:29:01 To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. He done got in love three times already. And a lot of people's opinion, it was questionable. This one shouldn't be. See, this is when you start, when you should have gave Joel Embiid the award, then you gave it to Nicole, and then you try to piggyback,
Starting point is 00:29:35 okay, we messed up last year, now we want to give it to you again this year. Okay, we should have gave it to this year, now we gave it to Giannis. So when you start messing with it, now you try to play catch up. Yeah. So when you start messing with it, now you're trying to play catch-up. Right. So you're messing with the game and you're messing with the history
Starting point is 00:29:49 of the game when you're trying to play catch-up and not looking at the totality of what everybody else is seeing. Right. Like, oh, we didn't want to give him three in a row, but he has three. We're just going to skip a year because nobody has won three in a row yet, so we don't want to give him three in a row.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Well, Larry Bird was the last to win three in a row yet so we don't want to give them three in a row so Larry Bird was the last to win three in a row. He won 84, 85, 86. Well, you know, since no one else No one else They wanted Larry to be the only one so they went and don't do that again. Hey, you know what?
Starting point is 00:30:23 How well do y'all know about the people that do the voting for the MVP? How well do you know? Is it former players? Or the people that just sit in the position of power that were suit and ties? It's the same people that vote for the NFL. You have reporters, you have journalists. There are a couple of NFL players that have votes. I think Kendrick Perkins has a vote.
Starting point is 00:30:42 There are several NBA players that work in the capacity of the NBA network. NBA TV, ESPN. I think there are a few, but most of the time, K-Mart, you know this.
Starting point is 00:30:59 You played 15 years. It's mainly the journalists that cover the NBA, the beat writers that have the votes. And I have a problem with it because if you're on the East Coast, you're not staying up to watch every
Starting point is 00:31:15 game that's on the West Coast. True. And vice versa. Guys that's on the West Coast, you had work when them games started a lot of times. You're doing other stuff. You had work when them games started a lot of times. You ain't doing it early to catch those. You're doing other stuff. You're not going to a sports bar where they got 12 TVs on the wall. You're actually watching games.
Starting point is 00:31:32 You're going to arenas and you're spending your dime when your team is not traveling to these cities to go watch these guys play. Yeah. So it's bias. It's regional bias is what it is. K-Martin, did you check this game out today, Sacramento and Cleveland? I think Cleveland's going in the wrong direction. Sacramento won this game 121-13. Zach Levine was sensational, 37 points on 15-21, 7-11 for three,
Starting point is 00:32:03 but it was Debo, DeMar DeRozan, 10-18, 2-5 for three, 6-8 from the free throw line. He had 28, Sabonis had 27. It seems like to me the Cavaliers picked the worst time to start this slide. And I think, if I'm not mistaken, I think they've lost 3-5 over the last week. And it just seems to me, K-Bar, I want you to chime in here. What do you see from the Cavaliers? Because at one point in time, we thought, okay, they can really challenge Boston.
Starting point is 00:32:31 They get home court. They can beat Boston. Now, I don't give a damn where they play it. They can't beat Boston, I don't believe. Cleveland, they said they was going to have to get out the first round for me to believe in them. And that's just the way it was for me. They was going to have to get out the first round for me to believe in them and that's just the way it was for me they was going to have to get out the first round
Starting point is 00:32:48 so and the way they playing right now it seems that they going to prove me right if they do get out the first round it's going to be a dog fight and they better hope that that Orlando Magic team don't land at 8
Starting point is 00:33:04 OOOK I'm telling you right now that boy Ben Caron and Franz Wagner They better hope that that Orlando Magic team don't land at eight. Oook! I'm telling you right now. That boy, Ben Carra and Franz Wagner. Hey, he the real deal. They believe they can beat them, man. They believe they can beat Cleveland. They beat Cleveland when Cleveland had that 16-17 game win streak. They beat them.
Starting point is 00:33:22 They believe they can beat them. But you guys, I don't get Kmart. You got to understand. Not beating them in one game is one thing. Not playing against, playing against the boys in the whole seven game series. And that's a different ball game,
Starting point is 00:33:37 especially the playoff experience. They did it last year. Listen, they took Cleveland only one on their home floor last year. They played the same, this young Orlando team last year. Yeah. They played them last year and they took them to seven games.
Starting point is 00:33:48 Cleveland didn't win in Orlando. And when you look, if you look at it, I don't even believe they'd have been in the eighth spot. They'd have had one of those first six spots. Had Van Carrel not got hurt this year, had Franz Wagner not got hurt, and a lot of these injuries, they overlap.
Starting point is 00:34:05 So they were playing without both of those big guns. Ben Carroll went to the all-star game. Franz Wagner is playing like an all-star. This team. Oh, they, they, they,
Starting point is 00:34:15 they bet because we don't really, unless you really follow the NBA K-Mart like you and I, we have to, you don't really realize how good Orlando is. Ben Carroll is a bull. Ben, that joker, hey, that's a grown-ass man. Even though he's only 20, 21 years of age, that's a
Starting point is 00:34:33 grown man. Absolutely. Absolutely. Nah, I'm saying I think Franz Wagner, he would have been a Hall of Star had he not got hurt. They would have been the top 314, you know what I'm saying? Dark as hell. Let me get been the top 3-4 team. You know what I'm saying? Mm-hmm. So,
Starting point is 00:34:47 dark as hell. Let me get some light, fellas. Hold on. But, that's a fish tank back there? Yeah, but, nah,
Starting point is 00:34:57 that's what you call him. He's shooting in a 210P. Hey, you got money, you got money. That was, you got that dial-up AOL
Starting point is 00:35:04 came right down. Hey, you got money, bro. You got that dial-up AOL, K-Mart, damn. I was using the natural sunlight from the joint band in the nightlight zone, so you know I had to give us some light. Hey, they hit me up in the chat and tell me, damn, we ain't no K-Mart with the completion of Ocho. Trying to use the natural life, man. Trying to be on some sexy shit, man. They said, man, K-Mart got dark on the night.
Starting point is 00:35:28 They said, we just saw him on Kim on Friday. Oh. Yeah. No, I mean, I think Cleveland, I like the way they've been playing during the regular season. I like adding Kenny Atkinson as a coach. I like them having two bigs
Starting point is 00:35:43 running the same system that Golden State ran with two bigs. But they got to prove it to me in the playoffs, man. Two small guards in the backcourt are very good, but when it comes down to it, that's going to be tough, man, I think.
Starting point is 00:36:00 But it's wrong matchup. Like I said, that Orlando matchup for Cleveland would be tough, but I don't think they can beat Boston. I don't think nobody
Starting point is 00:36:09 can beat Boston right now. Nah. Boston. Hold on. Hold on, K. Wait a minute now. So you got the Celtics winning it again?
Starting point is 00:36:19 You got them repeating they're coming out the East? Absolutely. You sure? Yes. You want to put something on that? Yeah, what you need, man. I don't turn nothing down
Starting point is 00:36:29 with my collar, bro. Man, listen, make it light on yourself. Don't pay K-Mart. He's still on me $5,200. I heard that. See, the thing about me, see, I'm confrontational.
Starting point is 00:36:41 See, I'll come look for you. I need money, man. I tell you what I do, K-Mart. I give you. See, I'll come look for you. I need money. I tell you what I do, K-Bar. I give you a bag. Get mine while you at it. Hey, see, the thing is, see, Uncle Nice, he ain't garnishing your wages yet. You know what I'm saying? He's trying to be the honorable thing and let you pay.
Starting point is 00:36:58 See, he ain't taking out your check yet. You know what I'm saying? So he's going to start taking out your check. You know what I'm saying? K-Bar, he don't understand when you get your wages garnished, that go on your credit report. Absolutely, man. K-Bar, you're coming to see about your money. Hey, man, I need my
Starting point is 00:37:13 ciabatta, man. I need mine. K-Bar, the UConn lady, the Lady Huskies, top the Lady Gamecocks from South Carolina to record their 12th overall NCAA titles. Paige Beckert's exit on top all season. Azzy Fudd, Sarah Strong, Paige Beckert was too much.
Starting point is 00:37:36 As all three made the all-tournament team, Fudd had 24 points to lead UConn and was named most outstanding player. I knew this game was over. When Paige Beckers had three points and they were already up 12, I said, well, it's over. She ain't even really doing a whole lot, and the game was already over. Okay, Mark? It was a hell of a performance by them, especially defensively, man.
Starting point is 00:38:00 You look at that box score. Yeah. For South Carolina, like, yo. Like, took the fine time not to be able to make shots. And the way UConn played, man. Shout out to UConn. Paige going out on top. King to King.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Yeah. With all the hype, man, you don't think that it's going to end this way. Coming off of what happened transpiring last year with Kaylee Clark, with all the hype she had, um, going into the game, the tournament and, and playing the way she did and,
Starting point is 00:38:30 and being able to piggyback on that success for women's basketball with another dominant performance by another, another person. That's she's almost as famous as, I mean, Caitlin almost, you know what I'm saying? So, you have to want to piggyback on that success and to win it. And shout out to her, shout out to UConn, shout out to the women's game.
Starting point is 00:38:56 And no one saw this coming, but UConn, I'm assuming. I think the thing is, K-Mart, is that people don't realize as a true freshman, Paige Beckers was the player of the year. The injuries robbed her. She was in that class. It was her.
Starting point is 00:39:16 It was Kaitlyn Clark. It was Angel Reese. It was Cardosa. They was all in the 2020 class. When Paige got hurt, now Taylor did what she did. But people don't realize how great Paige Beckers was
Starting point is 00:39:32 prior to these injuries. Now, I think in order for her to go like, hey, when Rebecca Lobo and Sue Bird and Taurasi and Ma Moore and Stewie, when all those in the Fischer-Kantz, when all those are sitting at the table, Paige Beckers get to pull a putt here now.
Starting point is 00:39:50 Because that was the only thing that was missing on her resume, K-Martin. She had been player of the year. She had gone to Final Fours. The thing with UConn, in order to be in that group, they hang banners. Absolutely. They hang banners. That's what them great players do. It started with Rebecca Lobo group and then Sue Bird and Taurasi. That group, they hang banners. Absolutely. They hang banners. That's what them great players do.
Starting point is 00:40:09 Started with Rebecca Lobo group, and then Sue Bird, and Taurasi, and Tina Charles, and Maya Moore, and Stewie, and all of them. You got to hang banners. Absolutely. And she got it now. She pulled her chair. She pulled it up. Go ahead, Ochoa. I mean, congratulations to UConn and what they've been able to do.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Geno winning his, what number was this for him? 12. His 12th championship. But for the Lady Gamecocks, what does Dawn, what does Dawn Staley need to do? Or what does she need to come
Starting point is 00:40:38 inside that room to get back to, get back to the top? You know, scoring, better players. Yeah. Now you're going to get everybody to the top. You know, scoring, better players. Yeah. Now you're going to get everybody best shooters. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Listen, one, you got all of them All-Americans, man. They're just like UConn used to be. Tennessee was the haunted forever. USC was the haunted. UConn was the haunted. Now South Carolina is the haunted. Right.
Starting point is 00:41:03 People, you're going to get them schools best shot every time you play, right? It's bulletin board material. They got all these All-Americans. They got all these McDonald's. They've been doing this. They do this. They got commercials. They that. They this.
Starting point is 00:41:17 So you get here and all this leading up to this game, and it just adds fuel to this fire that you already got burning, that you want to go out and compete. So you don't get that best shot, man. Like, whatever she do, I'm pretty sure they're going to go back to the drawing board.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Yeah. And they still a hell of a team, still a dynasty. They still... But if you think about South Carolina, they got no star. They got no dominant player. And they made it to the championship game.
Starting point is 00:41:48 You look at Sarah Strong is a true freshman. She gave it 24 and 15. Tassie Fudd was an All-American. She's coming back. Paige Beckers was once College Player of the Year. She was there. So you got three big guns. Look at Carolina.
Starting point is 00:42:07 Carolina had one player in double figures. Two players in double figures. Off the bench with 10. Off the bench. Your starters gave you 17, 19, 21. Your starters gave you 24 points, Ocho. Mm-hmm. Your starters.
Starting point is 00:42:18 Yeah. Sarah Strong outscored the starters by herself. She had 24. Abby Fudd, she had 24. Paige Beckers had an off night shooting the basketball, 5 of 14. She had 17 points. You're not going to win if one starter from the
Starting point is 00:42:34 opposing team outscored your entire starting lineup. You're not going to win. And if the game is going to be lopsided like it was. I got one word for you. My sister, look, my brother went to Carolina, so obviously we root for all things Carolina. I told my sister, I said, Libby, they went to South Carolina, stopped their 71-game win streak by damn near 30.
Starting point is 00:42:56 You think they're going to beat this team on a neutral site? No chance. Zero. Well, I got one word for you. Who is that? Portal. Zero. Well, I got one word for you. Who is that? Portal. Oh. Dog got to go to the portal?
Starting point is 00:43:10 Hey, man, why ain't they have that portal real right now, Jack? Hey. I'm sorry. I know they got the boosters down. I know they got the boosters down in South Carolina. They can go get whoever they want. I'm telling you, hey, they're going to bring that truck. They're going to back that Briggs truck up to somebody.
Starting point is 00:43:28 You got to pay to play. You got to pay to play these days, Jack. That's why I go in. Go ask Nick Saban. Nick Saban, hey, man, listen. Everybody, these kids can go wherever they ain't. Hold on. It ain't just about football
Starting point is 00:43:43 no more. Yeah, I'm out. Don Staley closed out our final presser thanking the local media. You guys know our team. You're pretty fair with how you assess our basketball team. If every program had this, we could push women's basketball forward on a local level across the country. You see the difference? When her team lost, she didn't snap at no reporters.
Starting point is 00:44:08 Was this good or bad? She didn't do that. You know what? Class personified. You have to have the same level. You got to win with dignity. You lose with the same purpose. It ain't no, oh, oh, oh, how many final fours did you been to? Did your team make it this far? There was none of that. None of that. Absolutely. It ain't no, oh, oh, oh, how many final boards have you been to?
Starting point is 00:44:25 Did your team make it this far? There was none of that. None of that. Yeah. You see the difference? Yeah, we've been here before. We're going to get here again. We've been here before
Starting point is 00:44:34 and we're going to get here again. Yeah, but Don, you're right. She's going to have to, she's going to have to go, she's going to have to go, she's going to have to go in that portal
Starting point is 00:44:43 and get some big guns and I don't know what's out there. Maybe they can put a $3 million package and go get Juju. It's going to take a little more than that. Hold on, hold on. $3 million? It's going to take a little more than that.
Starting point is 00:44:56 It's going to take a little more than that. The pride Juju from USC? It's going to be like $10. I would definitely say $10 too. I got five. I can going to be like 10. I would just finish. I would just finish at 10, too. I got five. I can't give you 10. Hey, Don's going to push back. Don's going to say, hell, I don't make the three and a half.
Starting point is 00:45:11 How you going to pay a triple what you pay me? Hey, I'm putting the asses in them seats. Yeah? For sure. Houston shocked the world last night. Went on a 9-0 run in the final 35 seconds of the ballgame to win 70-67. Kmart, is this the greatest Final Four tournament comeback in NCAA history? For that amount of time, it's up there, man.
Starting point is 00:45:40 It's up there. Them boys, man, listen. And that's the beauty of having older guys. Yeah. Right? Everybody want these 19-year-old phenoms. They're great, cool. But when you don't get rattled and you've been there and you've been battle-tested,
Starting point is 00:46:04 and, yo, man, that was a pretty – that was a great basketball game. Very good game. That was a really, really, really good basketball game. Well coached. Guys played their tail out, man. So I was excited to tune in for that one. Ocho. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:24 With a minute 27 seconds left they up 7 man I couldn't keep you I said man damn dude gonna win this thing again I know my homeboy gonna call me start effing with me I said man
Starting point is 00:46:34 they done got this and so I let like like 20 minutes go by and then I go to my phone ESPN no I was on IG and I see the the get out face the guy got got the, he's like,
Starting point is 00:46:48 I'm like, what? What are you talking about? And then I read the cool stunt of the Blue Devils. I was like, what? I said, oh, I ain't no way. I said, there ain't no way. I got the TV on and I see everybody just
Starting point is 00:47:03 going crazy. I said, what the hell happened? So now I got to rewind and go back. They ain't got no inbound plays. What happened? I be damned. Okay, boy. Hey, man. Listen.
Starting point is 00:47:19 I know. I know. I got tight. Very tight. Hey, I know a lot of people lost money yesterday, Yonk. They absolutely did. Because I guarantee everybody bet on Duke to win that game. Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Hey, you know what reminds me of K-Mart? You remember this game. When Reggie Miller shot the Knicks. You remember he hit that three? He stole the ball. The Houston guy got the ball in red right behind the three-point line. And let it fly. And bam. I'm like, oh, my line. And let it fly. And bam.
Starting point is 00:47:46 I'm like, oh, my goodness. I'm watching this. I'm like, oh, my God. Real time, man. Like, just couldn't get the ball up. Possession after possession. Like, they just kept the pressure on, man. They did.
Starting point is 00:47:58 And they wore it down. And they was like, if they get it to this point, it could be interesting. If they keep it right here, it could be this. And they did. Damn, yo. I thought of turning point also. Saving time to the right time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:15 I thought also of tying my K, Mark. You remember in the first half when Duke had that big lead and Houston hit three threes in a row to close out the first half. Okay? They stretch out to a big lead again. And here come what you call them clawing back. I was like, damn. But then when they got a minute 27, 64-57, I said, man, y'all ain't finna do it.
Starting point is 00:48:37 I said, y'all had a great run, Houston. I cut it off. See, the thing about that minute and a half is an eternity in college basketball as they prove long right
Starting point is 00:48:50 long it's an eternity and when you guys them freshmen so you got a lot of young guys you got some
Starting point is 00:49:00 incoming freshmen you got freshmen you got some older guys them dudes ain't been in them pressure situations, man. Like, just haven't had to show up when the stakes are that high. And shout out to the man. Listen, Houston, them older dudes, man.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Them 22, 23, 24-year-old dudes, man. Listen. That's the thing. Because you look at Kmart, when you look at Duke, look at all the number one overall draft picks that they have and didn't win the national championship. It started with Elton Brand. You remember in 99, they lost to UConn.
Starting point is 00:49:37 I think they had like four first-round picks that year, but Elton Brand was number one. Kyrie went number one. Zion went number one. Ben Carrow went number one. Flag's going to was number one. Kyrie went number one. Zion went number one. Ben Carroll went number one. Flag don't go number one. And they none of them won the National Championship.
Starting point is 00:49:51 Huh? She bagged it. They told Marvin Bagley right in there. Yeah. He was two. I mean, can you think about it? When Zion went number one,
Starting point is 00:49:58 I think RJ went number three. And what they call him went number four, Cam Reddish. Yeah, so you, yes. And you look at Kyrie with number one. I think Kyrie and them got bounced in the second round. So it's like, and Coach Greenberg says, yes, when you bring on it, it's nice.
Starting point is 00:50:16 Because all these McDonald's All-Americans, you got the number one player, the number three player, the number five player, the number 10 player, the number 12 player in an incoming class. Everybody have been the man on their squad. How do we get these guys to share, to realize in order for us to get where we want to go? You're not going to be able to be the man no more. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second.

In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do.

We saw that also with Kentucky. Look at Kentucky with all the times they had the John Walls and the Boogie Cousins and the Devin Bookers and the Shea Gildress and the Tyler Heroes and the Carl Anthony Towns. Look at all those guys that they've had and didn't win the championship. You're on Super Bowls, huh? Yes.
Starting point is 00:55:35 I'm saying winning is a learned behavior, man. Like, you're not just showing up as a freshman or as a rookie learning how to win when guys have been practicing this have been working at this for years like you're not just going to show up and be on campus for eight months thinking you've learned the totality of the game you you come to college as this phenom but you're incomplete like your game and your knowledge for what you're trying to be is incomplete. Okay. Right. So you,
Starting point is 00:56:10 and you only on campus for eight months and then you're moving on. So you're not really learning everything you need to learn. And then you get in these pressure situation at the end of the year where you, like you said, you've been a man. So that's all, you know, when it gets,
Starting point is 00:56:20 when the, when the game get on the line, it gets tough. All you think to do is to put on your cape. Yes. I'm going to put on my Superman cape. This is my time now, right? And if you got five, four, five guys that used to put on that cape,
Starting point is 00:56:35 then you have these results. So my thing is older guys, man, guys that's been coached and bred and been cussed out and been, had to get on the line for three years and then did this and then had to run because they didn't go to class and all that. You ain't fit out. Listen, them dudes
Starting point is 00:56:55 hungry and they want it. I was listening to Cat, excuse me, Ant-Man, talking about when they got behind Serbia and they was down like 13 in the fourth quarter. He says, normally when I get into a situation like that, I'm putting that cape on. I'm going, hey, take this thing over.
Starting point is 00:57:14 He said, but I watched Steph. I watched KD. I watched LeBron swing the ball, dribble kick. And it was like, and the next thing you know, and when KD hit that three who that with that book i think it was either book or kd hit a three-point shot and they got five with the four-pointer kdc yeah i knew it was over from that point on and you see the thing else because you got to realize now those other guys you're going to going again they had cakes on too
Starting point is 00:57:40 no guy for houston like uh k- said, they're older guys, Ocho. They got the mile test. They average about five. The fastest guy ran the mile at like 5'10". The slowest ran like 5'46". They average about 5'19". To put that kind of pressure on, you've got to have a tremendous amount of lung capacity
Starting point is 00:58:01 because they're pressuring you 94 feet every time you touch the ball. Yeah. Every time you touch the ball. And to keep that kind of relentless pressure on, kind of like Nolan Richardson used to have the 40 minutes of hell, K-Mart. All out. We're going to wear you down.
Starting point is 00:58:19 You might get off, but hey, the last three minutes of the ball game, you got to think and you got to execute. Yeah. You got to deal with that. And on Amoeba Press, baby. And on Amoeba Press, they used to throw on you, man. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:58:34 Man, that's that, man. Battle testing. You got Florida. You got Houston. Who you like, K. Martin? Why? I'm going with them Texas boys, man. You're going all day.
Starting point is 00:58:48 Why I even ask you? You're going all day. If they have four players. Over Florida? Over Florida? Yeah, man. K. Martin, man, he from Dallas. He going all day Texas regardless.
Starting point is 00:58:59 That ain't fair, man. I'm from America, baby. What I'm talking about? All right. I'm going to let you have You know what I'm talking about? All right. I'm going to let you have that. Hey, hold on. You want to put something on it again? Like I said, make it light on yourself, dog.
Starting point is 00:59:13 Listen, I don't turn down nothing but my collar. Hey, listen, man. It can be a dinner. I see you smoke stogies. It could be a stogie. Wait, hold on. You smoke cigars, too? Listen, man.
Starting point is 00:59:24 Whatever you want to do, you make it light on yourself, brother. You know what I'm saying? All, hold on, hold on. You smoke cigars too? Listen, whatever you want to do, you make a light on yourself, brother. You know what I mean? All right. Name your stogie. You smoke cigars? Name your stogie. So what it is, you name your stogie, I name mine.
Starting point is 00:59:32 You win, you name your stogie. Right. I win, I name mine. Okay, now we're talking. Okay. Well, listen. Good gentleman's joint. Make that a bet.
Starting point is 00:59:40 Good gentleman's joint. I like, listen. 70 Gauge Lunatic. Okay. What you got? I'm going all in. I like listening. 70-gauge lunatic. What you got? I'm going all in. Listen. You're going to have to go to the bank with mine.
Starting point is 00:59:50 Trust me. It ain't going to be you're going to go to your local. Oh, you're trying to get Aki with the bet. That's what you want to do? Yeah. I said name yours. You name yours. I'm going to name mine.
Starting point is 01:00:03 Hold on. I don't have to go to the bank to get nothing by no cigar because I got access to that. So that's easy for me. I get them for free no matter what you're getting. My bad, player. Yeah, I mean,
Starting point is 01:00:14 I'm just letting you know. My bad, killer. See, I try to keep it simple and just name one cigar. I just want, I want about 10, 10 lunatics, 70 gauges,
Starting point is 01:00:23 and I was going to call it a wrap, but you're trying to get spicy. We can do that, too. You want to give it to some gangsters. Have a chance. How do you want to do it? Well, if I bet I want my cigar, hey, I want somebody to go plant the stalk in Cuba. Watch it grow.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Watch it grow from the... It's a real one. You got to go across the water. I don't smoke the cigars. I'm going to let y'all have that one. So, the bet, Ocho, you want
Starting point is 01:00:50 10 70-gauge lunatics. Listen, I just want 10 70-gauge lunatics. Or, you know what? Matter of fact, I want 10 70-gauge lunatics, right?
Starting point is 01:00:59 Yeah. Listen to me now. Okay. And I want 10 Daniel Marshall 24-karat gold cigars. We'll make the same bet then. Same bet.
Starting point is 01:01:09 Oh, for real? Same bet. Okay. Same bet. Matter of fact, you smoked that Daniel Marshall, that 24-karat gold cigar? I haven't had it, but you named it. Same bet. There it is.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Hey, chat. Hey, chat. Do me a favor In the chat Tell Kmart How much that Daniel Marshall 24 karat 24 karat Gold cigar is
Starting point is 01:01:30 Kmart don't seem to Concern himself with that Cause he don't think He gonna be buying it I would hope so Listen When When and if
Starting point is 01:01:38 I cross that bridge When we get to it Oh Listen I already know Florida I already know Florida Gonna win I already know Florida gonna win. I already know Florida gonna win.
Starting point is 01:01:47 So you might as well just put more in now. I'm going with them old heads, man. I'm going with them old heads, man. They gonna show up. Never bet against anything. Man, they right down the road. Do you know what this Alamo don't? You know how many people
Starting point is 01:02:02 for the beat come down I-10, man? Right. You know, San Antonio, bro. Alamo don't you know how many people from the beat come down I-10 man right hold on you think San Antonio bro you think you think Florida don't travel well you don't think the people
Starting point is 01:02:12 they can't drive they can't drive listen man they gonna have the highway hold on these cigars cost $300 a cigar yeah
Starting point is 01:02:20 yeah yeah oh hell no hey hey hey, Okay, I'm just making a show Go man, for a girl Alright No pressure Listen man, it's going to be so much Coogan Red in that joint, man They finna show up Everybody else leaving
Starting point is 01:02:56 Listen, they got a scab on them tickets Everybody else They leaving So they going to sell their tickets they bought to the final game Right All them Houston fans Everybody else, fans, they leaving. So they going to sell their tickets they bought to the final game. Right. All them Houston fans that couldn't, listen, that couldn't get them on Ticketmaster, people was trying to.
Starting point is 01:03:11 Right. Hey, they getting them things right now for two. Listen, for pennies on the dollar. Hey, K-Mart, I'm going to throw in five when you win. Go get my money, too, while you at it. I'm going to throw in five with them cigars. Well, damn. Hold on, man. What it. I'm going to go at five with them cigars. Well, damn. Hold on, man. What about you?
Starting point is 01:03:28 How you going to side bet? Ain't no side. It's between me and him. No, no, no. I'm just saying when he wins, I'm going to give him an extra five. So he going to get my money while he at it. While he down there, he going to get my money. What I'm talking about?
Starting point is 01:03:39 Nah, nah, nah, nah. I'm going to mail it. I'm not going to see him in person. I'm going to just mail it. Them Texas boys, man. Hey. Them Texas boys, man. Hey. Them Texas boys, man. Them boys hungry, dog.
Starting point is 01:03:49 Misty. I didn't know I asked you. Because I should have known. All things Texas. All things Texas, dog. Because he love them saw-ass cowboys, Ocho. We ain't even talking about it yet. We don't get into it.
Starting point is 01:03:59 Time out, time out, time out, time out. You like the Cowboys, too? I'm bred in it, Ocho. I'm not one of them dudes that's from somewhere else, man. See, listen. He's just going for team just because he's from the place and not being realistic about their chances of actually winning the game. Oh, no, I am realistic.
Starting point is 01:04:14 One thing about me about this team, though, you got to listen to me, but I'm realistic about it. Trust me. No, I'm not one of them every year Lakers fans, every year Cowboys fans, we're going to win. Right, right. I'm not one of them every year Lakers fans, every year Cowboys fans. We're going to win. I'm not one of them, dog. Trust me. We hired
Starting point is 01:04:32 Shotton Hyme as a coach. Trust me. The man out in D.C. was an excellent for us. Ain't no way he should not have been our head coach. How about you go, Kellen Moore, you want somebody that don't get me started
Starting point is 01:04:48 with these dudes, man. Just because I was in high school. I've been out of high school a long time. See how all this is great? I've been out of high school a long time. That's the last time they went to the Super Bowl. I skipped high school and went to the Super Bowl parade, dog. For real?
Starting point is 01:05:05 And yes, I had to sit out the first half of the basketball game because they went looking for us in the classroom. So, no, I ain't rolling, man. Like, I'm a big-time CD fan, bro, but Michael Parsons, I'm on the fence about that. I don't know about it. I call him Dakota until he do something. His name's Dakota Rain.
Starting point is 01:05:28 You don't get nicknames if you don't get it done, man. He was on the show, so we had to pick another team this year. I was going for LeBron and the Raiders, man. I was off the band way, way back
Starting point is 01:05:43 when they first started training camp. I'm going to tell you straight up. They didn't sign Derrick Henry last year. I was off of him. I ain't going to even hold you. He had a place in Dallas. He trained in Dallas. His girl from Dallas.
Starting point is 01:05:59 I know the guy. He trained with my mind. Melvin Sanders at Sanders Fit. The way he worked at it i was mel's first client i know mel well mel was with me in denver trying to so i know these dudes well and mel was telling me all right like man he trying to be here i'm like man what's up with it to a your owner your owner said he couldn't afford it then you go back and bring zeke man oh you look like come on man let's not do. Come on, man. Let's not do this. Let's not do this, man.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Because trust me. They could have thrown one of us back there, man. It got more production. Baby Ocho, I got artificial hip. I can't take no more hips. I ain't going to get no more hips. You know what? Nikola Jokic, in a loss, 41 points, 15 rebounds, 13 assists.
Starting point is 01:06:52 Ties Will Chamberlain for the most 40-point triple doubles, seven by center. Steve Kerr called Nikola Jokic the best center he's ever seen. Kareem couldn't do all this stuff. Jokic is the best center I've ever seen. I played against Kareem. Kareem couldn't do all this stuff. Jokic is the best center I've ever seen. I played against Kareem. Kareem couldn't do all this stuff. We're watching a guy who's doing things nobody's ever done before. It goes so far well beyond the
Starting point is 01:07:13 skill with Jokic. It's the competitiveness. It's his intelligence. He's absolutely one of the smartest players ever, and you see it in so many different ways. K-Mart. Somebody was saying, hold on, I forget who it was, but they said he wasn't a top 20 player yet.
Starting point is 01:07:32 Where do you have Nikola Jokic ranked? Because he top 20 for me. If he ain't top 20, do away with the whole, whoever in the top 20, I'm throwing everybody out. If Nikola Jokic, I'm talking about right now, if he's not top 20, I don't know what the hell we talking about.
Starting point is 01:07:47 Right. I want them to name these. Wait, hold on. Before you answer, K-Mart, hold on. Top 20 all time? All time. All time, bro. All time in the history, in the 78-year history of the NBA.
Starting point is 01:08:02 Nikola Jokic is a top 20 player as we sit here. He's still playing. I don't give a... So is LeBron. So is LeBron and Steph Curry. Yes. Okay, go ahead. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:08:12 Call my answer. I'm just curious. Those two dudes, you can't... Yo, man, you can't talk about the history of the game within the last and not mention him.
Starting point is 01:08:20 You just can't. So, if you talk about... So, if we do it by positions, right? We give you by positions. Yes, sir. You go, we'll just,
Starting point is 01:08:33 not team performance. You're talking about individual dominant performance, not you go, we'll, you go, Hakeem, you go Shaq. He's next in line, man. You taking him over Kareem? Well, I forgot about Kaep.
Starting point is 01:08:55 My bad, he's fifth. He's the fifth best center of all time right now. Just from, got three MVPs, what he's doing, going after triple-double, Hollins, potentially win another one.
Starting point is 01:09:06 He's going to win another MVP, maybe two before he's doing, going after the triple-double, all this, potentially win another one. He's going to win another MVP, you know, maybe two before he's done, maybe another championship. This puts him up, yeah, top five center of all time right now,
Starting point is 01:09:15 man. So you, you, you, some of these other guys, man, you, yeah,
Starting point is 01:09:19 I'm, I definitely got to top 20. If you're not top 20, 21. If you don't have top 20, he's not top 20, he's 21. If you don't have him top 20, he's 21. I like it. Top 25,
Starting point is 01:09:33 if you want to take five guards, five point guards, five shooting guards, five small forwards, five power forwards, five centers, top 25 NBA players of all time, he's top 25.
Starting point is 01:09:44 He's the fifth best center of all time. So I would put him at... Right now, he's still playing. I'd put him at fifth. He's as good as I've ever seen. Yeah. I'll put him at fifth. I think the thing where people knock him is because all the guys that you
Starting point is 01:10:02 mentioned played deep. All the guys that you mentioned had made at least one, some multiple, all-defensive teams. Now, they didn't have that. They didn't have all-defensive teams when Wilt Chamberlain, because Wilt had a game where he had 24 blocks. So, I mean, his numbers, I mean, we got to do something. We just got to sit Wilt aside.
Starting point is 01:10:22 Because the 150-point, 50-point games, ain't nobody ever touching that. You're never going to do something. We just got to sit Will aside. Because the 150-point, 50-point games, ain't nobody ever touching that. You're never going to do that. Nobody's going to ever have 50 points against him for a season. What a footage of Will's 100-point game. You seen the footage? No way. There ain't no footage. You just got the box score.
Starting point is 01:10:39 Yeah. So if you look at, yeah, I'm with you. So the 100 points, the 20,000 women, all of them, hey. Now, the 20,000 was the sale of that book. Yeah, absolutely. Damn sure sale. So my thing about Nikola, right, it's not the defensive end. It's your top three in steals, right?
Starting point is 01:11:05 But that's one thing. But if you look at it, look at when the games are on the line, right? Like the other day, that Minnesota game the other day, right? Yeah. The 60-point trip of that game. Of all the things he was asked
Starting point is 01:11:21 to do offensively that game, when the game was on the line, both overtimes, this, that, and the third, watch him move his feet defensively when they asked him to go out and double Anthony Elk. It's little things like that that I look at, right? When the game is on the line, he can move his feet. He's great. I ain't going to say he's Draymond Green defensively
Starting point is 01:11:45 when the game is on the line, but you're gonna get an honest effort out of him. He's gonna implement the game, play whatever you tell him to go out and do with all the deficiencies that he has defensively.
Starting point is 01:11:58 Give me that effort that he displays when it's winning time every time. Because like Steve Kerr said, his competitive nature kicks in. that he displays when it's winning time every time. Because like Steve Kerr said, his competitive nature kicks in. You say he can't do something, I'm going to try my best not to let Anthony Edwards turn this corner. Right.
Starting point is 01:12:16 Listen, but this is the funny thing about it. Now, as great as he is offensively, and what he can do offensively in the post, mid-range, from three, he's a liability on defense. I don't care how hard he tries. I don't look at that. Nobody can take advantage of it. Yeah, if he's going up against Joe Allen Bede,
Starting point is 01:12:32 he's probably a liability on defense. But the question is, who do you have on the offensive end that's going to punish him like he's going to punish your guy on the defensive end? So when he has to play defense, who's the guy that's going to punish him like he's going to punish your guy on the defensive end. So when he has to play defense, who's the guy that's going to go at him and put 40 on his head like he's going to put 40 on your guy's head?
Starting point is 01:12:52 All they're going to do is put him on the weakest guy. He's going to have a double-digit assist, so now that's another 20 to 30 points. He's going to get... Think about this. He's going to average a triple-double for a season. Ever big.
Starting point is 01:13:08 He's shooting 58% from the floor. He's shooting 42% from three. That's crazy. Do you understand somebody that shoots that many shots from the outside? I ain't talking about a guy that just lays the ball up and
Starting point is 01:13:24 dunks it. Think about how many shots he the outside. I ain't talking about a guy that just lays the ball up and dunks it. Think about how many shots he takes outside of the paint and he's shooting damn near 58%, Ocho. That's crazy, boy. And 42% from the three. Talk to him. If you shoot 40% from the three, you'll make a lot of money.
Starting point is 01:13:40 You shoot 37%. You ain't came. Okay, you shoot 40%. They look at you as an elite shooter. You shoot 42%. You are. Yeah. I mean, that's what I was asking.
Starting point is 01:13:54 You was leading the league through 40%, 41, 42%, man. Three. Yes. And you got a center out here doing it. Come on, man. A center. The volume.
