Starting point is 00:06:40 I mean, we ain't been at it. You and Rel, how y'all been doing? Boy, we've been beefing, boy. We've been beefing. About what? Listen, I mean, we ain't been at it. You and Ray, how y'all been doing? Boy, we've been beefing, boy. We've been beefing. About what? Listen, I mean, man,
Starting point is 00:06:47 a little bit of everything. That's why I was so upset. I was so upset when we, when we, when we went off and, you know, it's different. You know,
Starting point is 00:06:54 a lot, I know a lot of people out there in our relationships. Um, and, and most of the time, you know, we, we don't,
Starting point is 00:07:00 we don't, we don't talk about the, the, the, the bad. We, we always, we always gravitate to the good and everything, always being happy.
Starting point is 00:07:08 But we've been beefing. We don't follow each other at all. Listen, I took all the... What y'all beefing about? Hey, just... It's relationship shit. You know? It's fiance and wife shit.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Like marriage shit. Like just beefing. Oh, it's getting serious now. It's the countdown. Yeah. Hey, now listen to me. Let me tell you how serious it is. Let me tell you how serious it is.
Starting point is 00:07:31 You know how I am about my gaming equipment and my gaming and my TVs and my PC and all that, right? Yes. We were beefing to the point, right? I took all my, I took my whole setup. I took my whole gaming setup and I went to my grandma's house for four or five days. What? Yeah. Oh, oh, oh, listen, listen, I'm not combative. I love I love my baby. I love my baby to death. Right.
Starting point is 00:07:58 But just like I just needed I need to I need to exhale for a little bit. I need to breathe. Right. You feel me? Right. You know, and I had, I see nightcap would have been my outlet. I didn't have, I didn't, I didn't have nightcap and I needed nightcap. I needed you. So I had no outlet. So instead of me going back and forth with this one, what did I do? I took a mental reset. I took a mental break. And then I came back at the four, five days, you know, at my grandma's house. You know, it felt a little weird with her not being there. You know,
Starting point is 00:08:27 it felt weird sleeping in that bed again, you know. So I haven't been there since I was a shorty, but I'm back. I'm feeling good. The show is back. And here she go. Here she go. What's up, Real? Real, tell your side of the story, Real. Where Real at? Real, tell your
Starting point is 00:08:43 side of the story. You know, I always hear, a lot don story you know i always hit a lot on kill who tell it his ass was bored he didn't have nothing else to do but get on my last nerve i'm working hard and since nightcap is not going on football season hasn't started yet he don't have shit to do but get on my nerve and he's mad because i'm not giving him the attention that he needs and wants because I'm working. Right. He want to start arguments. I'm like, you need to go. Right.
Starting point is 00:09:11 I mean, somebody got to work. Everybody can't be on vacation at the same time, real. Exactly. So I'm glad Nightcap has started. He has something to do so he can get out my hair. But y'all got to figure it out now. We y'all good now, right? We good. No, no, no, no, no, no. I told himall got it figured out now. We y'all good now, right? We good.
Starting point is 00:09:25 No, no, no, no, no. I told him don't follow me no more. No, no, no. We ain't good because you know how, you know, listen, I ain't follow up back yet on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:09:35 I ain't follow back on Twitter. I archived all her pictures. You know, she archived all my pictures. And when we gonna go to therapy, we gonna go to therapy. Damn. Y'all let me be mad. You already in therapy? archived all my pictures and when we gonna go to therapy we're gonna go to therapy damn and this shit serious man because listen i'm here for the long haul you so she needs to understand that so we're gonna do this for the long haul listen there are certain obstacles and hurdles that we
Starting point is 00:09:58 need to get over before we got walked down that goddamn aisle honey because i'm not going to be the one to play i don't play that shit well the thing is, Ocho, is that you have to understand. You understood that she had a job that required a lot of her time. Yeah. But you got to also understand when y'all got together, you weren't doing anything three, four times a week. Right. And so now you needed something to fill that void and so you like well
Starting point is 00:10:26 baby feel that boy she said no i got work to feel yeah that was he talking about you want to be a stay-at-home dad somebody got to pay these bills up all right well listen she the one paying him i respect that i respect that right but listen at the same time this is very important especially people in the chat this is what you you got to do we always glorify we always glorify all the good you want to know all the good about a person when all the good so for me i pulled the trigger on getting the ring and want to propose and saying you know what i learned all the bads about all the bad about her all the bad because everybody got a bad side all the red everybody do yeah yeah that's why i don't know why when people meet each other they try to put on this facade like they're just so perfect.
Starting point is 00:11:06 No, I don't want to know the good. Let me know the bad to see all the non-negotiables and some of the things that I can deal with and I'm willing to. How much can I tolerate? That's what you need to know. And that's what I've done. So it kind of got to me a little bit because I wanted some attention. You know, sometimes, you know, I ain't had no show.
Starting point is 00:11:24 I ain't had no outlet. I ain't had no outlet. I needed that and she couldn't provide me with that. I was hot. I was 38 and hot. Ocho, what did you tell the women? Look, I can bring work home, but I can't take you to work.
Starting point is 00:11:41 She can't take you to work, Ocho. She got to get themselves. She got a business to run now. Because imagine now, if the shoe was on the other foot, she can't take you to work Ocho she gotta get themselves she gotta do she gotta business to run now yeah because just imagine now if she was on the other foot you in football season
Starting point is 00:11:51 yeah and she ain't got and she and all of a sudden something happened and transpired and she all up but yo well we ain't doing nothing Ocho
Starting point is 00:11:58 hey I need you to give me some attention what you gonna say she will put her right there in the stands nah she don't want to be in the stands. Nah, she don't want to be in the stands. She wants your attention. She ain't got your attention
Starting point is 00:12:09 in the stands. 73 up, 25 other, that's all Cincinnati got. 35 other thousand got your attention. She ain't got your attention. Yeah, but listen, we working though. We working. It's a work in progress. It's a work in progress. I'm glad y'all figured this'm glad i think to myself right oh i
Starting point is 00:12:27 look too good to be putting up with this bullshit now right i look too good now i was on no no no no no at this junk you might hey you done been in this thing for five years you ain't really trying to learn somebody over here i ain't talking about that oh well i ain't going nowhere whoa time out hold on hold on let on. Let's stop the motherfucking train. Listen, she has provided me a lifestyle that ain't nobody else finna give. I ain't going nowhere. I'm just addressing...
Starting point is 00:12:53 I went to my grandma's house. I'd have said, baby, hey, you upstairs in the master bedroom, I'm downstairs. We're going to figure it out. We're going to be like passing trains in the night. Oh, no. I ain't gotta speak. Oh, no. I wasn't doing that.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I needed my space and a mental reset. I was with my little brother. My little brother. I know my little brother Chauncey watching. Chauncey, I appreciate you, baby. Bro, you got 10,000 square feet. You got space. Tell them the real reason why you went to...
Starting point is 00:13:19 He got mad. Why I left? Why I left? He got mad. Why? I went to a party and I was... You know, the tequila was talking. And I was like, baby.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Oh, shit. Oh, yeah. This was the last straw. Oh, um, she went to a party with a homegirl, right? Yeah. And hit me on the phone at the party. It was like 1230. He say, baby, I'm on that Don Julio.
Starting point is 00:13:43 You better be ready when I get home. This motherfucker came home and went straight to sleep. I was hot. Listen, I ain't want to put the biddies out there, but since she bought it, that was the final straw. That was the final straw. He have to keep it real. He over here lying. I'm going to tell
Starting point is 00:14:00 the truth of why he really went to his girl's house. How you going to tell me I done took a shower, I done why he really went to his girl. You don't. How are you going to tell me? I didn't took a shower. I didn't lotioned up. Are you ready? I got ready. So I'm OK. Boom.
Starting point is 00:14:11 I don't prepare myself. Well, I'm going to wear her ass out. Mentally. Yeah. I hear you. So she come home. She's staggering the door. So I pretend like a hold on.
Starting point is 00:14:22 I pretend like I'm asleep, though. I pretend like I'm asleep though i'll pretend like i'm asleep so she get in the bed so i'm waiting over to make a move like touch my thigh or something just just just touch me do a little something let me know you ready for that action right um i let five minutes go by i'm pretending like i'm still asleep all of a sudden all I hear is, I'm like, oh, hell no. I ain't say nothing. I put on my little slats. I put on my slats and I cleared it.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Because there was going to be an argument. I didn't want to argue. Let me ask you a question. What did you tell me? You don't let the defense dictate what you're going to do. Why you let her dictate? You on offense. You dictate that. offense you dictate that
Starting point is 00:15:06 when you see a promotion on tv right and you read what it say and that's what you're expecting based off what you read on the promo don't send me no damn no no damn dream like Martin Luther King you call my phone you didn't have to call me you didn't have to call don't call me and send me no dream talk about oh when I get home you better be ready because i'm on this don julio i don't even know don and i don't know no nigga named julio so i'm getting ready julio jones yeah i took a shower you're not understanding the preparation and the steps i went yeah yeah you read it because i just want because that's what women be doing you see what what did i tell you one of the biggest causes of breakups uncommunicated
Starting point is 00:15:56 expectations right you were expecting her to make a move right she was expecting you to make a move and ain't nobody communicate nothing remember i told you that on your uncommunicated expectation you see what you just said she communicated all right she communicated when she called my phone knowing i was sleeping at 12 30 at night when i'm normally not normally not up at that time so why would you get me aroused with that type of excitement knowing i'm already sleeping for one and then tell me what you're gonna do and what to be prepared for once you get home and do you get home and you go to sleep. I tell you what, do y'all have vultures? Y'all have buzzards flying around? Do y'all have those flying around?
Starting point is 00:16:29 No, we in Miami. We only got flamingos and peacocks. Okay. Anybody from the South, y'all know what I'm talking about. Like when there's a dead animal laying down, you see the vultures, the buzzards, they're hovering over. Yes, sir. If you pretend that you dead, one of them come knock five
Starting point is 00:16:47 from you so hey why she pretended like she was leaked you should have knocked five from her no because she weren't pretending you don't sell me no dream you don't you don't act like you you don't act like you on demon time and you finna get filthy with it and then come home, oh, I had, she hit me with a, oh, I had a headache. What? Excuse me? Huh?
Starting point is 00:17:09 See, that's the problem. I don't mean that. She done never made it to the bed. She done never made, she wasn't even supposed to make it to the bed. You supposed to be standing behind the door,
Starting point is 00:17:18 bum ball. You don't understand. From that point on, I'm not sure when that was, we've been beefing ever since. I done unfollowed her, I done took all her pictures down. Like, you ain't finna play with me like that.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Don't play with me like that. Don't sell me no dream. You know what? You couldn't even just hit... You didn't even have to hit my phone. You could have came home with the sleep. I wouldn't have said nothing. It wouldn't have been no problem.
Starting point is 00:17:36 I packed up all my shit. It wasn't nothing in this damn office except that goddamn sign back there. I took everything to my grandma's house. I had to have... I was trying to stand on business. I wish somebody would have called me and told me,
Starting point is 00:17:48 because I'd be standing at the cameras. Soon as the car pulled up in the driveway and the light cut off, oh, that's for me. Downstairs I go, hey, hey, when she open the door, baby arm right there.
Starting point is 00:18:03 When she open the door, listen, this is the lesson. It's a lesson learned. It's a lesson learned for her. It's a lesson learned for me. Despite the lack of communication in this instance, in this situation, we straight, we cool. Like a scale of one to ten, we about a six because I ain't followed back on none of my socials yet.
Starting point is 00:18:20 But I bet you, I bet one thing, I bet this shit won't happen again. I bet it won't happen again. It won't happen. It wouldn't happen no time. I'm Michael Kasson, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on good company. The podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary.
Starting point is 00:18:46 We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there. And if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 00:19:31 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General...
Starting point is 00:20:04 I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra,
Starting point is 00:20:37 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Okay, Ocho, first segment of the night. It's time for Newscap. 39-year-old, go James. Oh, my bad. I forgot, I forgot. Hey, hey, hey.
Starting point is 00:21:06 There it is. My bad, guys. Have a little rust. It's been about six weeks. Although, ain't been no nightcap in six weeks. But trust me, your boy been working. Newscap. 39-year-old gold James had to save the team from a historic upset.
Starting point is 00:21:23 South Sudan on Saturday led the way down the stretch. I think he had 11 points in the fourth minute span in the fourth quarter against Germany today. Let's take a listen to what LeBron had to say. Hey, y'all. Great job to close out the preliminary game. We saw some adversity. We're just good. We've been down two games in a row, and that's going to be good for us.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Like Katie just said, the world just begins now. All right? We got six games. We'll win one game at a time, all right? going to be good for us. Like Katie just said, the world just begins now. All right? We got six games, but there's one game at a time, all right? Ready to be first base again, y'all. Go. One, two, three. Go. That's the goal.
Starting point is 00:21:53 No matter how close it is, at the end of the day, look, you play to win. Whether you win by 45 or you win by one, as long as you win the game. I think LeBron, oh, Joe, you know, when you go to the Pro Bowl, you want to show everybody, I'm the real deal. I know everybody else here is the real deal also. I'm not trying to diminish anybody. But sometimes I think y'all forgot because I'm 39,
Starting point is 00:22:16 because I haven't been to the NBA Finals and you hear about Giannis and you hear about Jokic and you hear about Luka and you got Ant-Man, you got JT. But y'all know, y'all, y'all know, y'all know who I am. Y'all know what I am. And he showed that there's a pride level and there's still, I'm still LeBron James.
Starting point is 00:22:50 And when I need to pull this cape out and down the stretch against Sudan, he needed to pull the cape out and down the stretch against sudan i can do it he needed to pull the cape out and today against germany remember dennis schroeder was i think the fever most valuable player last year right germany have nba players i think the south sudanese they got two i think when you're gabriel and another guy on that team that was in the uh in the uh the charlotte the bobcat right camp but lebrron was sensational. Now, you're going to get the people that try to diminish him because here's what they're going to say. Jordan would have never been in that situation. Kobe would have never allowed that to happen. All I'm saying is, what about those other guys that's on the team? Y'all do realize Steph Curry, Joel Embiid, Jason Tatum, Devin Booker,
Starting point is 00:23:23 Ant-Man, all those other guys on the team. Why they let it happen? Yeah, I mean, these are our best players that are representing our country. I like to see LeBron elevate his game at a level like that, that we're accustomed to seeing normally here in the States. But doing it, representing our country is a great thing. But I have one question to ask. Obviously, against Sudan, it was a close game.
Starting point is 00:23:45 They trailed in the fourth quarter. Against Germany, again, they trailed in the fourth quarter until LeBron worked to the end. So I'm asking you, Unc, because you have a better knowledge of the game than I do, especially when it comes to the Olympics and the USA playing against other teams. So is it more so that the NBA player, do you think they're having a hard time adjusting to the international rules? Or is the rest of the world finally catching up to us
Starting point is 00:24:10 in the game of basketball? Well, they're catching up, Ocho, because they're playing. I mean, you got to understand, think about how many, when the NBA players first went back to the Olympics in 92, you really only had two guys.
Starting point is 00:24:23 You had Tony Kukoc. Yeah. I think you had Sharunas Marcellonas. And I think you had, what's the seven-footer from Sacramento, his dad, Sabonis. So you might have had three guys other than the NBA players that were in the NBA. But if you go to every team now, for the most part, there is an NBA player, maybe one or
Starting point is 00:24:48 two that's on the team. Daniel Tice plays in the NBA. Dennis Schroeder plays in the NBA. The rules are different. They let you get a little bit more physical. You can go tend the ball. The rules are a little different, but there's no excuse. Plus, those guys have been playing together
Starting point is 00:25:06 those guys grow up playing together from the time they're like 7-8 years old they're playing together and so they've been practicing for about 2 months right oh so the chemistry so obviously their chemistry can be much much better
Starting point is 00:25:22 than those of the USC okay okay so we have nothing to worry about we have nothing to worry about I'm not going to say much much better than those of the US team okay okay so we have nothing to worry about we have nothing to worry about I'm not going to say we don't have anything to worry about so the fact that these games are so close though we're trailing we're trailing against Sudan we're trailing against Germany so are these bumps in the road or just there's nothing
Starting point is 00:25:38 to worry about with that I don't think I don't think the lineups that we've been going out there with I think Kevin Durant is probably going to be in the starting lineup. They got to do a better job of taking care of the basketball. They're turning the ball over entirely too much. And sometimes when you get a collection of great players together, they try to, well, I'm not selfish, and you overpass the basketball.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Or you try things that you probably wouldn't normally try. But no, i definitely think can they be beat yeah hell yeah on a one game anything can happen right right but uh i i love i love the way they they're they're becoming battle tested uh you look at devin booker had not shot the ball well he was one for six lebron was eight of 11 joelland B was 5 of 8. Holiday was 4 of 6. Steph was 5 of 13. Ant-Man was 4 of 7. JT was 2 of 6. Bam, 2 of 4. AD, 3 of 5.
Starting point is 00:26:32 They just got to do a better job of protecting the basketball. And if they do a better job protecting the basketball, I think they'll be fine. But, you know, look, Canada is littered with NBA players. They got Shea Gildress. They got Dylan Brooks.
Starting point is 00:26:46 They got Powell. They got a lot of guys. Alexander Walker. They probably got six or seven guys that's on an NBA roster. I think that's going to be Germany. It's going to be a tough test. I think probably you might see Canada or Germany. I mean, Canada is in that death pool.
Starting point is 00:27:04 They got a really tough bracket to come out of. But they're going to be fine. All right. Hey, Chad, y'all heard it there first. USA basketball is going to be fine. But, Ocho, it's just like anything. If you think about it, you do something long enough eventually they're gonna get better at it they do it too that's what when when david stern had this idea
Starting point is 00:27:32 so you know what i want to open up i want to make this a global game and i want to open it up and you see the dirt and the biscuits and you see the guy all those young guys they're like man i want to do that and then you see it in 96 and you see it in 2000 and you see now all of a sudden they're like hold on wait a minute you mean to tell me i can do something other than play soccer yeah yeah as as winnie and gabriel said look we got seven footers and they're herding cattle. Oh, so he's like, hold on this gift. These guys like, hold on.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I don't want to do, I want to, I want to drill. Let me start drilling a basketball. Right. Right. Opening up borders. So I'm glad.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I'm glad that the U S has been battle tested because you, you hate to be in a situation. Oh, Joe, where you haven't been tested. Right. And then the first time you get tested is in the knockout round. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:31 So now they know, hey, okay, but go James. You see, hey, they put the ball in his hands, and he's going to make the right play. He's either going to, hey, I'm going to drive and I'm going to kick. I'm going to get all the way to the hole. I trust this three-point ball. He's had the three-point ball going the last couple of games. But when he puts his head down, it's kind of hard.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Ain't nobody stopping that. Yeah, he's like a bull in the china shop there. Ain't nobody stopping that. But LeBron said, hey, I do. I think the adversity is good. But look, this is not Angola. The U.S. is not going to beat these teams like the original dream team was beating teams by 80 points.
Starting point is 00:29:12 And the guys had never, the guys had just picked up a basketball and just qualified for the Olympics. Those days are over. Those days are long, long gone. And you have to be willing to accept. Look at softball. We used to be dominant women's softball team. But guess what?
Starting point is 00:29:29 Japan, Australia, they started playing and they started playing and they got good. And some of those players came over here and played at UCLA and played at these other powerhouse schools. They go back over there and ta-da, they win gold medals now. That's what happens. You know what the funny thing about it is? And for those of my soccer fans that are in the chat, as you see how all the other countries are catching up to us when it comes to the game of basketball, I wish it could work in reverse for us over here when it comes to soccer so we can catch up to the other countries. We can catch up to the other countries in the game of soccer,
Starting point is 00:30:06 especially around World Cup time, which we have coming up in 2026. Ocho, we got American football. They don't play that over there. We got basketball. They play that over there. We got baseball. We got too many things. Like Jamaica.
Starting point is 00:30:19 Jamaica track and field is their most popular sport. Yes, sir. So they don't play basketball. They don't play football. They don't play baseball. All their focus is on that one thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:32 So you look at a lot of these other countries, they're focused because we have so much to do to focus on. Right. Well, I don't want to play soccer. I want to play football. I want to play basketball. I want to run track. I want to play baseball. So when you have those. I want to play basketball. I want to run track. I want to play baseball.
Starting point is 00:30:45 So when you have those things and you can make money at all of them, Luca, what did Luca want to do? Luca originally, Luca wanted to play, want to play soccer. Yeah. Real life,
Starting point is 00:30:56 my man, ain't a whole lot of six foot soccer, six foot, seven, six foot eight soccer player. Unless you're the goalie. That's about it. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:31:03 Same thing with Jokic 92 comes along they say hold on i'm tall 2000 come along i'm tall i could play that sport so when you have it's oh joe if you go to a restaurant and all they have on the menu is that what you're gonna get that right but if they have a variety, I mean, it's hard. Sometimes you go to, what, Cheesecake Factory, they got 15,000 items. How the hell am I supposed to choose one thing? Yeah, you're right. But when you only have a
Starting point is 00:31:34 choice to choose one thing. Well, I just wish the choice was soccer for the most part because it's exciting. It's exciting. Who? Boxing. You know, Americans, we got boxing.
Starting point is 00:31:48 We got a lot, man. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Anyway, I'm putting my bid out for the U.S. men's national team. We're going to win the World Cup in 2026. I'm just throwing that out there.
Starting point is 00:32:00 I'm just throwing it out there now. I hope so, Ocho. Hold on. Can we get to the medal round before we start talking about winning can we get to the medal round how about that come on don't do that man i know can we get to the medal round this is our year we the whole we we are the host nation we for the win this we from the win this what they got to do with it i don't know i'm just i'm just i got my fingers crossed lebron james who's competing in his fourth olympics was serving the flag bearer for the united states in the opening
Starting point is 00:32:31 ceremony of the olympic game the opening ceremony will be held friday at 1 30 p.m eastern time and we were having a live watch party oh yeah meanwhile Meanwhile, KD doesn't seem, doesn't seem right now. He's upset about being left out of the Nike's latest ad commercial for the Olympics. Even his business partner and agent, Rich Kleiman,
Starting point is 00:32:56 voiced complaint. And for the win, just posted the article saying Team USA should have chosen Kevin Durant, not LeBron James, to be his Olympic flag bearer. I mean, I would think so. Listen, I respect LeBron James, to be its Olympic flag bearer. I mean, I would think so. Listen, I respect LeBron James and all that he has done.
Starting point is 00:33:09 But when it comes to the Olympics, I don't know if I want to say it's separate. It's a separate entity as opposed to NBA basketball. This is Olympics basketball, obviously representing our country. And Kevin Durant, who is obviously the all-time leading Olympic scorer with 435 points. LeBron is second. No, no. Melo is second with 336. LeBron is third with 273.
Starting point is 00:33:31 So I'm trying to have a better understanding on why they picked LeBron. Obviously, the accolades and him being the best player. Stop right there. Stop right there. Stop right there. Go back. Rewind. Now, ask yourself again,
Starting point is 00:33:45 why did they pick LeBron James to be the flag bearer to lead their team in and not Kevin Durant? Ask yourself that question again. I know why. That's why, that's why I said arguably the greatest, I didn't get the chance, you didn't give me a chance to finish, the greatest NBA basketball player to ever live. There's a conversation between him and Michael Jordan. Always. Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:07 But then I also want to separate the fact that representing our country as well, where KD is the leading scorer, maybe, maybe it's a conversation that can be had where he represents it himself. But you might not see it that way. I'm just asking. I'm trying to see why K i'm just asking i'm trying
Starting point is 00:34:25 to see why he's upset and i'm trying to see why his manager upset i think katie's upset about the nike ad oh he said the nike ad he's not be upset about being the ring but the player okay okay okay he's upset about being left off he says hold on wait a second why would they leave him james and i are the two biggest Nike basketball players. Now, you could make it say, okay, Greek freak. Okay, but I believe LeBron and I are the two biggest Nike athletes currently in the NBA. I feel I should have been included in that ad. Why would you? Is that personal?
Starting point is 00:35:04 I don't work for Nike. I'm not, you know, in the marketing advertising department who pitched this campaign. Didn't Kevin Durant have a lifetime contract with Nike? He does. He, LeBron, and Steph Curry are the only three current athletes that have lifetime contracts. To me, that's a no-brainer. To me, that's a no-brainer. Well, clearly somebody didn't have a brain.
Starting point is 00:35:24 The higher-ups, the higher-ups, I think there might be a personal vendetta or a personal situation because anytime you don't use one of the greatest scorers of all time who is representing our country, you don't use him in an Olympic ad that everyone's going to see,
Starting point is 00:35:38 that is personal. I don't think it's personal. Oh, Joe, the guy's going to get a billion dollars. How you going to somebody give you a billion dollars and they all of a sudden don't call, don't call. Let's just say for the sake of argument. Somebody say, Ocho, we got you. The being will say, Ocho, for the next 50 years,
Starting point is 00:35:54 we're going to pay you a billion dollars. Okay, they have this ceremony and you don't get no invite. Man, they don't care nothing about me. Run, they gave you a billion. Minus the money, I'm still representing my country. That means more to me. Donning the red, white, and blue. He had the Olympics.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Representing my country. They didn't leave him home. They didn't leave him home. They didn't leave him home. He's there, but the promo of the ad. Yes, because the ad lives forever. I get it. I get what his frustration is because, like I said,
Starting point is 00:36:25 I believe he and LeBron are the two biggest Nike athletes, basketball athletes, that we currently have. That's on Nike's roster. Obviously, Jordan is an entity of himself. Kobe is no longer with us, but currently alive, LeBron and
Starting point is 00:36:41 KD. KD says, and you know, hey, Ocho, you remember the ad? Everybody remember the Muppets when it was KD, I'm just kidding, when it was LeBron and KD. KD says, and you know, hey, Ocho, you remember the ad? Everybody remember the Muppets when it was KD, I'm just kidding, when it was LeBron and Kobe. I still have a t-shirt. Everybody remember the ad with Penny, with Chris Rock with the boys, Lil' Penny.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Remember that? You remember the bird magic and the weapons and Bird Jordan, the McDonald's. So KD understands that this thing is going to last magic and and and and the weapons or the mac and and bird jordan the mcdonald's so katie understands that this thing is going to stay alone last lot longer than he's going to live and i do believe he should have been included in the ad but how many times have we seen people put our commercials or ads and we're like who's in that room to let y'all put this out because the the undertones are not the what people might construe like were they not any women in the room were they not any
Starting point is 00:37:37 blacks in the room were they not a hispanic latino so right so i'm saying were they not anybody in the room that's like, hold on, man. Something ain't right here. Kevin Durant. We ain't going to have KD in this? Mm-hmm. Not KD? KD?
Starting point is 00:37:52 We not? Why? See, that's why I said it got to be something. It got to be something. No, I don't think it's it. To even leave him out. To even leave him out. When the discussion comes apart, when you have a meeting of that magnitude to have players or a commercial of players that are representing our country.
Starting point is 00:38:10 You don't have the all time leading score for that country when it comes to Olympic basketball. Not in the ad. That is something personal. I think, Ocho, I think when it comes to the Olympics, you go to the broader scale. You try to I mean, you look at some of the people that's the representation. It's like LeBron, the global icon that he is. You probably
Starting point is 00:38:34 talk about Ronaldo. You talk about Messi. Then, I don't know, LeBron, Mbappe, right there. Obviously, you know Messi and Ronaldo. They're there. I mean, obviously, you know, Messi and Ronaldo, they here. I mean, I think the only guy that can really challenge them is Jordan. Jordan is the only guy that's on the Messi, Ronaldo scale universal.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Anywhere he goes, he can go to a village in South Sudan. He can go to the rainforest in Brazil. Yeah. Michael Jordan. Right. Right. Ronaldo, Messi. They know. And I'm sure, like I said, of the rainforest in Brazil Michael Jordan Ronaldo Messi they know and I'm sure like I said and I explain this to people
Starting point is 00:39:12 I just wish because I know how athletes feel when they see Jordan I just wish that an average person could see it could talk to it to see what it's like could you i don't do it justice because everybody shaq said it uh ai said it lebron has said it i'm talking about some of
Starting point is 00:39:36 the biggest names in the world said when they met that man he didn't seem real yeah it seemed like he was leveled i'm telling ocho yeah i'm looking at this man and i know this man is thinking look this move crazy because i'm looking at because he don't see i'm like i know who it is and i'm looking at it i'm looking looking i'm like this man levitating yeah he glow hey you know uh what was that? The dragon with Bruce Leroy. And you know how Joe Nuff started glowing? Yeah, Junior. When he started glowing, he had that throw.
Starting point is 00:40:12 That's not Jordan Luke. Jordan Luke just like that. He glowing. He levitating. I can't explain it. I can't explain it. I guess because I don't even want to be sacrilegious, but I'm telling you, man,
Starting point is 00:40:27 it's an unreal feeling that you get when you're around that man. And I've been around a lot of NBA players. I've been around some of the biggest Hollywood stars. Ain't nothing like him. Ain't nothing like Jordan. I met him once and I know exactly what you're talking about. I met him once and I know exactly
Starting point is 00:40:44 what you're talking about, but I can't put it in the words. I can't even put it in the words, so I'm not even going to try. Oh, no, you can't. You got to. The Last Dragon. That's the name of the movie, Last Dragon. Right, yeah. Last Dragon, with Bruce Leroy and Shona.
Starting point is 00:41:00 Who's the master? With the afro? With the afro? Oh, Joe. who's the master with the afro yeah uh oh joe team usa lost to the wmba all-stars on saturday night 117 to 109 brianna stewart said it felt like deja vu and she wasn't wrong in 2021 the olympic team lost to the wmba all-star in the tune-up to tokyo they went on the cruise to the seventh consecutive gold medal just like 2021 exhibition, the Americans had no answer for Arike Ogumbamwale. The MVP
Starting point is 00:41:30 of Saturday night's game scored all 34 points in the second half of the victory. She's also earned MVP honors in 2021. Ocho, I was at that game. Yes, sir. The shot you had to be, I mean, I know you guys, a lot of you guys
Starting point is 00:41:46 watched it on television. Ocho, but it wasn't no open shots. I'm talking about she, I'm talking about she Kyrie Irving, pulling up with hands on her face, falling out of bounds. And now they hug up on her, she get around them, she one foot in it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:02 La Flotas. Ocho, you had to see it. Isn't it? I'm there and I'm watching. I'm looking at it. I'm like, oh, that's good. That's good. Yeah. Oh, that's good. I told you my little experience when I went to Atlanta when they played the Dream, right?
Starting point is 00:42:17 And the only way I could describe her after not knowing how to pronounce her name was she reminds me of Kyrie Irving. The lateral movement. the quickness. Erika Ogungunwale. Oh my goodness, boy. She nasty with it. She nasty with it.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Very, very, very, very good player. Very, very good player. Exciting to watch. Very exciting. Let me tell you this. Having been there and just see it. I know a lot of the conversation has been about Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. And let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:42:48 Seeing them up close and personal. This is my second time seeing Caitlin Clark. I saw her in Vegas about a month ago when she came and played the Aces. Angel Reese has an elite skill set. The basketball is like a magnet she gonna get it she attract it every time she's gonna get the basketball I don't know I mean and there's
Starting point is 00:43:15 Brianna Stewart right there there is Aja Wilson there she's gonna get that ball Caitlin Clark has an elite skill set of passing the basketballark has an elite skill set of passing the basketball yes sir she has an elite skill set i don't care what you think she can see things that other people can't on the court it's elite and i said both of the women will be successful for the one skill set that is elite one can pass the ball the other can rebound the ball but what has
Starting point is 00:43:46 transpired is that if you like one they want you to hate the other i refuse to do that i believe i can like caitlyn clark in her game and still love angel reese in her game i believe i can love angel reese in her game all the while loving while loving Caitlyn Clark and what she possessed. Y'all can't make, y'all, I don't have to choose. And it seems like they want you to choose. Well, if you like Caitlyn Clark, you're supposed to hate Angel. And if you like Angel, you're supposed to hate Caitlyn. Why?
Starting point is 00:44:17 I get it. It's the same thing with Bird. I remember when Bird, I'm old enough to remember Bird and Magic in 79 when they played in Salt Lake City. And I know it was right down the middle the thing that you had what you have Ocho one black one white yes sir what do you got right
Starting point is 00:44:32 now you got one white one black yeah so choose one choose your combatant you know when you play any video game Ocho you get to choose your guy yes sir choose him nah bro I'm bro. I'm rocking with both of them. Having seen
Starting point is 00:44:48 both of them against the best of the best. This ain't no, okay, they got a few all-stars on one team and not, no, no, no, no. This is the best. This was the national team. Oh, yeah. And I'm watching Kaitlin Clark pass the basketball looking like Magic Johnson.
Starting point is 00:45:03 I'm watching Angel Reese rebound the basketball like Dennis Rod johnson i'm watching angel reese rebound the basketball like dennis rodman against the team that asia wilson is the best player in the wmba yes he's a two-time mvp about to be a three-time mvp a defensive player of the year stewie is a two-time uh mvp uh finals mvp so it's uh so it's Asia. Man, Angel Reese like I'm going to get that. I'm going to get that ball. You remember Lonzo? Lonzo told what was Ethan Hawks character in train today. He's like, we'll get that money.
Starting point is 00:45:36 I will get that. Jake. Jake. Jake. Jake. I'm going to get that money. I need that money. Jake. Angel Reese and Asia. Let's do it. I'm going to get that money, Jake. I need that money, Jake. Let's do it. I'm going to get that ball. Oh, yeah. I'm going to get that ball. Listen, I'm not sure why. I mean, obviously,
Starting point is 00:45:51 it depends. If you are a true fan of the game, you can appreciate both of their games. You can have an appreciation of both of their styles of play. Each of them being different in the way to get things done. yes no need there's no need to pick and choose between who you like and who you don't like regardless of what narratives
Starting point is 00:46:11 are spread right regardless of what narratives are said if you are a true fan of the game of basketball you're going to have appreciation for both caitlin clark and angel reese the way to get things done my man but reek man reek was dancing out there, man. I mean, she was dancing. Remember we had her own and she said, I could kind of sense the way it was going. It seemed like it was going to be clicked up and I wasn't going to be a part of that click, so I dipped.
Starting point is 00:46:37 This was her opportunity. Y'all should have took your girl. Yeah, most definitely. Y'all should have took your girl because y'all see what it is. Matter of fact, and this is a good thing so I got a question for you since you were able to witness the game
Starting point is 00:46:49 you know who's representing us yeah on Team USA obviously so after the All-Star game who would you swap out from Team USA and then WNBA All-Stars
Starting point is 00:46:59 you can't swap out you can't swap out nobody now so you can't so I'm just saying hypothetically hypothetically speaking if you were able to swap anybody out would you swap anybody out or did the committee get it right in their team selecting what what you were able to see i think the thing is is that these women that's on the squad gave up a lot of their summer over the last couple of years to play in the and to play into things like that and so it would be unfair to them right that they gave up a lot of their summer over the last couple of years to play in the FIBA and to play in the things like that.
Starting point is 00:47:25 And so it would be unfair to them that they gave up their summers. And now all of a sudden someone else that didn't give up their summer, but Rike said, well, I just saw the way y'all was trending and it wasn't trending. Like I was going to make the team. So why the hell I'm going to give up my summer and I ain't going to be a part of this thing.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Right. Okay. That's why I said it was, I didn't say hype, but at 28 Ocho, it's an, it's an LA. I'm going to be shocked if of this thing. That's why I said it. But at 28, Ocho, it's in LA. I'm going to be shocked if Kaitlin Clark and Angel Reese are not on that squad.
Starting point is 00:47:52 I'll be shocked. I'm sure they will be because imagine how much better they would have gotten all around when it comes to their game. They're definitely going to be on that squad. Yeah. Definitely. It was special. I'm glad I got an opportunity.
Starting point is 00:48:08 Matt Ishba, the owner of the Mercury, he owns the Suns also had a great time conversating with him. It was great. Man, the fans were unbelievable. The women got a chance to talk to a couple of them.
Starting point is 00:48:24 Talked to Brittany Griner, Kelsey, Jewel Lord, who was on my celebrity all-star team. She said, Uncle, I needed you, man. I needed your coaching. I couldn't buy a basket at night. But I got an opportunity to see some of the women. I wish I wanted to get an opportunity to talk to Stewie. I wanted to meet Stewie, but he didn't really get close.
Starting point is 00:48:46 Didn't get close enough to me where I could get attention. But I'll see her. I'll see her. I'm going to see her. I got to get me some jerseys. I want an Aja Wilson jersey. I want a Brianna Stewart jersey. You got to get him to sign
Starting point is 00:49:02 it, though. You got to get him to sign it. Aja Reese, Kelsey Plum. Who else I can get? Rike. I got to get a Rike jersey. I definitely got to get that. Hell yeah. I got to get that one.
Starting point is 00:49:14 Yeah. I'm going to have him. Yeah, I'm going to get mine. When I start mine, I'm going to make sure. You know, I'm going to get to the games. I'm going to ask him, I want your game worn jersey. I want your game worn jersey. I want you to sign it.
Starting point is 00:49:24 But you know what? I don't feel bad. I'm going to frame him. Because you to the games, I'm going to ask them, I want your game-worn jersey. I want your game-worn jersey. I want you to sign it. But you know what? I'm out of feel bad. I'm going to frame them. Because, you know, the guys, I'm like, hey, I need you to come up with that jersey. But I'm sure they probably got some more problems. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:49:36 When you get back to the back and take that off. Have somebody bring that to me, please. Yeah, yeah. I would need to get that. I would need to get that. What's your signature on there? Oh, yeah, for sure. For sure. But I'm going to get me about six. I'm going to get me about six of them. I'm going to get that i would need to get that which is signature on there oh yeah for sure for sure but i'm gonna get me i'm gonna get me about six i'm gonna get me about six of them i'm gonna get me about oh you know who i dt diana tarassi yeah got a chance to talk
Starting point is 00:49:56 to her i met her in 2005 when the all-star game was in Denver. And she's been great. She's been unbelievable. You got to get, I mean, if you don't get nobody, George, you got to get that one. I mean, they done named her. That's when you know you great, when you still playing, and they name stuff after you. They named the court
Starting point is 00:50:19 for her. Man, it was unbelievable to see her play and to see all these these women on display because this is the best of the best this is i don't know how many i think there's 12 women on the national team i think i don't know how many all-star how many uh all-stars they were but you talk about at least let's just say 30 of the greatest women basketball players in the world yeah and then i got to see some of the ogs sheryl swoop and a couple of the other women basketball players in the world. Yeah. And then I got to see some of the OGs, Cheryl Swoop and a couple of the other ladies
Starting point is 00:50:47 that played in the, you know, because Cheryl, I think the first year, Cheryl, the first year or two, might be the first year Cheryl missed because she had a son. She had a child. But to see some of those women and to take pictures with them, man,
Starting point is 00:51:02 it was great, Ocho. I mean, man, I really had a great time. You know who I want to meet? Who I haven't had a chance to meet? You ever had a chance to meet Miss Dawn Staley? I haven't. I need to meet Miss Staley, man. I need to meet Miss Staley, man.
Starting point is 00:51:15 I'm not sure why. She's just her aura, man. Her energy, everything about her, man. It just seems so perfect. I just want to have a conversation with her, man, it just seems so just perfect. I just want to have a conversation with her, man. That's all. And she's someone I look up to from afar, obviously, because I haven't had the opportunity to meet her.
Starting point is 00:51:34 But she's dope. She's really dope, man. So I'm sure she's going to see this. Miss Staley, I'm not sure if we ever cross paths, but you're the real deal. You're the real deal, sis. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold,
Starting point is 00:52:08 connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content. The term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:52:57 In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn.
Starting point is 00:53:24 In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story,
Starting point is 00:53:52 listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Okay, Ocho, John Harbaugh stood up for his franchise quarterback saying the criticism Jackson receives is head-scratching. Lamar, for whatever reason, he gets a lot of good things said about him. Lamar, but there's a lot of stuff that's said that you've just got to scratch your head and kind of wonder, what was that person even thinking? But we take it personally.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Harbaugh added, what does he have to do to prove himself to some people? Ten quarterbacks have won multiple MVPs. Peyton Manning, a five-time MVP, two Super Bowls. Aaron Rodgers, a four-time MVP, a Super Bowl. Tom Brady, three MVPs,
Starting point is 00:54:40 seven Super Bowls. Brett Favre, three MVPs, one Super Bowl, another another appearance Johnny Unitas I think Unitas won two right right my homeboy two three MVPs Kurt Warner two Super Bowl MVP lost two Steve Young two times league MVP won one Super Bowl with a backup for another. Joe, we know Joe and Lamar. Lamar is the only one of those who hasn't won a Super Bowl. He's two and four in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:55:12 For a two-time MVP, he's widely considered only the fourth best quarterback in the league right now. We got to stop this, Ocho. Ocho, you was in the league when Peyton Manning couldn't get past Tom Brady and we killed him yeah I was on air I was one of the guys that were killing him I'm like bro you win an MVP you throw up a
Starting point is 00:55:35 48 touchdown and you can't get out the first round right I'm trying to figure out what are we supposed to do Lamar plays great in the regular season but he's lost twice on his home field as the favorite the first year he's in the playoff as the favorite he lost to Tennessee he was the MVP unanimous he was one vote short again this year MVP everybody talk we want to get my homeboys away from Arrowhead. If we get him from Arrowhead, he can be had. He went to Buffalo and kicked Josh Allen ass.
Starting point is 00:56:11 He came to M&T and beat Lamar. What are we supposed to do? Lamar didn't play well. And in the games that he's lost, he hasn't played well. When he plays well, we say that. Why can't we say when he played bad, he played bad?
Starting point is 00:56:29 You know what it is, Ocho. But I can't in good conscience. I cannot go on TV. My credibility is everything. I cannot do it. I cannot just because Lamar Jackson is black, when he plays bad, say he's playing good. I think what Harbaugh's talking about, where he says Lamar Jackson has a chance to be arguably one of the best,
Starting point is 00:56:52 if not the best quarterback to ever play this game, I think that statement is true. I think it can be factual. You know what? Even if he doesn't win a Lombardi trophy, I think what he can do... They're not going to put you in the top five without a trophy. They don't want to put you in the top five without a trophy, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Let me ask you a question. Yes. Is Barry Sanders in the top five? For running back. But see, the quarterback... Who gets all the credit? The quarterback. What is Dan Marino? Dan Marino is nowhere in your top five?
Starting point is 00:57:23 They don't put him there because he went to one he didn't get back so you so I mean how do you put him over
Starting point is 00:57:32 first of all how you put him over Joe how you put him over Tom how you put him over Peyton how you put him over my homeboy right I'm just asking but listen
Starting point is 00:57:41 it's very it's very difficult it's very difficult because you have to understand this is the team game. It's a team game. At times... So when they're playing team ball, when you won them MVPs?
Starting point is 00:57:53 Yeah. When they win, who gets the credit when they win? When they win the San Francisco and they drop that number on their head, what do they say the next day? He's the MVP. Now when they lose, you talk about it's a team game. You didn't say
Starting point is 00:58:07 that when they won Christmas night. That's not what you said. Hey, that's the argument. When it comes to quarterbacks, that's crazy how that's crazy how the onus... I know
Starting point is 00:58:23 they do. It's crazy how the onus of winning and losing is always on their shoulders when it took 10 others to help it's crazy how that works it's crazy how that works let me ask your question when Tom Brady came back from 28-3 did y'all mention James White had 14 catches for over 120 yards no did y'all mention that catch that Edelman made? That hit off a guy's helmet and he caught it? That four down? Did anybody say anything about the high tower hit on Matt Ryan
Starting point is 00:58:53 that caused the fumble? It was all Tom Brady. It's always been about the quarterback. But now, when we lose, we're going to talk about Lamar ain't have help. Lamar had who had the better receivers against the Ravens or Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City? You know, let's be real.
Starting point is 00:59:15 We know who had the better receivers and the better offensive line and the better defense. The defenses are comparable because the Chiefs defense was legit. No, they was good, boy. Because they got a top five defensive player. They have the best defensive tackle. Stone Cold, Chris Jones is legit. He's the best at tackling football.
Starting point is 00:59:37 The Ravens defense wasn't no slouch either, man. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, well, they weren't no slouch either, boy. I crossed the board. They got two linebackers that went to the Pro Bowl. Kyle Hamilton is one of the best safeties in football. He might be number one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:53 Well, I think number one is young bull in Tampa now. Young bull in Tampa. Dante Wittner Jr., yeah. Ooh. Winfield, Winfield, Winfield, Winfield. Excuse me. Yeah, Winfield Jr. Boy, he nice yes nice but
Starting point is 01:00:07 hamilton hamilton has the ability he can be a defensive player of the year yeah he can sack your quarterback he can cover but we cover yeah he can shut down the run are he legit legit yeah but i'm saying people come on now when we give when we give Lamar Jackson credit oh oh y'all do y'all on the bandwagon now no I don't I don't give praise when it's not due if it's due I don't got no problem and I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong right got none yeah hell if I was if I do you think if I was perfect guess what I wouldn't be doing this I'd have picked them lottery numbers when that thing got to 2 billion
Starting point is 01:00:49 I'd have got all six of them numbers right on right right right come on people y'all know y'all know when Lamar didn't play well y'all know he didn't play well his first playoff game y'all know he didn't play well in the championship game he had two turnovers come on
Starting point is 01:01:06 now let's be fair about this thing when we kill Peyton we obliterated Peyton I remember what they were saying about John Elway when I got to Denver he had lost three Super Bowls look at the team that he was going with they didn't care they're They're like, hell, you got him there, win one. Right. That's the way it goes because you get all the credit when you win. They don't mention anything. They forget about those first two Super Bowls. They forget about
Starting point is 01:01:37 Vinatieri walked them off. They talk about Tom in the drive. Well, Tom put him in field goal range. What if Tom didn't get... See? Mm-hmm. You right. Listen, I love Lamar, man.
Starting point is 01:01:49 I love Lamar Jackson, man. Yes! Hey, listen. Pompano's finest. You hear me, y'all? But Pompano... The best. They ever come out of Pompano
Starting point is 01:01:56 out here in Florida, man. One of the best. Obviously, forget the fact that I played for the Bengals. I don't really care about that. I want to see young Bulls succeed. I want to see him succeed so he can get that monkey off his back.
Starting point is 01:02:09 Yes! So he can get that monkey off his back. I really want him to. I would love to see him host that Lombardi one day so he can go into conversation and some of the things that Harbaugh is saying
Starting point is 01:02:19 will eventually be true. That's it. Just one. Think about how the narrative changed once Peyton Manning won one. Oh, yeah. It's so difficult to win.
Starting point is 01:02:32 The hardest one is the first one. We've been spoiled with Tom Brady going over and over and over so many different times consecutively. They make you think it's easy. It's not easy. You ain't guaranteed to go back. The fact that goddamn Mahomes didn't talk about three-peating is
Starting point is 01:02:47 crazy. That's the thing. See, here's the thing. You got spoiled with Brady, but you got spoiled with Mahomes recently. Because the man has been the fourth Super Bowl since he's been a starter six years in the league. And he's won three. He's won two league MVPs and three Super Bowl MVPs. And you're like, okay, that's it? No,
Starting point is 01:03:04 it's not. It's crazy. No, No, it's not. It's crazy. No, hell, it's not. It's crazy. They make it look like it is. That's why only one other person could say they've ever done something like that. And that's Tom Brady. Brady, yeah. That's crazy.
Starting point is 01:03:15 I mean, you got the Steelers. The Steelers won four Super Bowls in six years in the 70s. Yeah. But it's not easy, man. Winning the Super Bowl. Because it's not like basketball. It's not like baseball. It's not a series, Ocho. It's one game.
Starting point is 01:03:29 And you got to be on point. That one game. Yes! Got to be on point. Yes! Look, I don't think Lamar gets to, I don't think, you know, when it comes to, I see somebody had like fourth and somebody had like six or seven.
Starting point is 01:03:45 I'm like, bro. Whoa, six or seven? Who the hell had in front of? Who the fuck? Okay, never mind. Let me stop. Let me stop. Look, my thing is, I'm saying, so what are y'all judging this on?
Starting point is 01:03:57 Because the only guy that got, that's the quarterback that's won a Super Bowl, Matthew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers, and Patrick Mahomes. One of the current quarterback in faith of the 32 teams of the 64 quarterbacks that started the backup, only three of them got Super Bowls. Y'all making it seem like the market's flooded. It's not. And the people that they're putting in front of them, I'm like, okay, so what is it? I don't care if he put the football and fly was catching.
Starting point is 01:04:31 All I know is they got the ball in the end zone. Y'all talking about, oh, he's aesthetically, he can't this, he can't that. All I know is the man was one vote short from being a two-time unanimous MVP. Yeah. And that is a blessing and a curse because think about it ocho they're saying you were so good nobody else deserved to get a vote right there's only been two unanimous mvps in league history and lamar jackson's is one of them tom brady is the other and he was one vote short from being a two-time unanimous MVP. So people are going to judge him harshly when he doesn't feel, especially
Starting point is 01:05:10 now, Ocho, if he has a so-so season, get to the playoff and make a run or he gets to the playoff and don't go far. But when you are unanimous MVP or you're one vote,
Starting point is 01:05:26 they're judging him differently anyway based on the success he's having in the regular season. That's why you know you're great. It's a gift and a curse. It's a gift and a curse. If I judge him like I judge every other quarterback, so what makes
Starting point is 01:05:42 Lamar special? He's in a class of his own though the expectations yeah that i have for a two-time mvp mvp or think about it there's only three of them yeah aaron rogers uh uh patrick mahomes and lamar jackson yeah what other player they can say they weren't in the league mvp In a class of his own. So the criticism is warranted based on that, the expectations. That's it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:12 I don't know what everybody else is saying about him, Mocho. I don't know. All I do is evaluate him. Bro, you got to play better. He's got to play better in big moments think about what Mahomes did Mahomes only had what before the game went to overtime
Starting point is 01:06:32 but you remember that game against Philly Mahomes threw for less than 200 yards but every throw that he had to make in the second half it counted he had to make it count and this is why there's so much pressure on the quarterback because
Starting point is 01:06:47 when it comes down to it, I'm going to force you to make a throw. I'm going to put the ball in your hand and I'm not going to let you run it. I'm not going to let you let this running game run it. I'm going to force you to make a throw. And when it
Starting point is 01:07:03 comes down, what did the Kansas City do in overtime? We're not letting Christian McCaffrey run this ball. And Brock Purdy, if you throw this ball, now,
Starting point is 01:07:14 the tackle, I don't know what the hell the guard was doing because he let Chris Jones come right through. I don't know what the hell they're saying. But they're like,
Starting point is 01:07:21 nah, Chris, nah, C-Mac, you're not running. I'll put the ball in your quarterback's hand. I'll make you make a throw. Yeah. If you make a throw, you walk to the middle of the field,
Starting point is 01:07:30 you say, I'm going to get a crack at you, Mahomes, get a crack at you. That was bad football by Kyle because you got to know the overtime rule. You know there's no sudden death. Death, yeah. Not in the postseason. It is in the regular season, but not in the postseason. Now you give Patrick Mahomes a look to know what he gots to do.
Starting point is 01:07:48 I got four, oh, I only need a field goal? I got four downs. Too much time left. Look, they got King Henry back there. Yeah. They should take some of the pressure off Lamar from running the football.
Starting point is 01:08:00 Take some of the pressure off Lamar, yeah. From running the football. Yeah. Hey. You know what this is about, Joe. It's going to be interesting season. It's going to be a very good season. Again, I think the AFC is loaded.
Starting point is 01:08:16 The AFC North is loaded, especially this year. Good quarterbacks in the division. Russell out there in Pittsburgh. Obviously, Lamar. Deshaun, can Deshaun bounce back? I want to see Deshaun get back to the start we're used to seeing that he was three years ago
Starting point is 01:08:36 when he was in Houston. Hell, we know what Joe Burrow can do. If Joe Burrow stay healthy, if he stays upright, that off of the line, we spend all that goddamn money, shit, I think we spend all that goddamn money. Shit, I think we're going to be all right.
Starting point is 01:08:49 ESPN just ranked the quarterbacks. Mahomes was one. Burrow was two. Josh Allen was three. Lamar was four. Okay. I mean, I like that. But if anything, I would switch Josh and Lamar, though.
Starting point is 01:09:05 I would switch Josh and Lamar. Okay I would switch Josh and Lamar. Okay. So he should be three. Hey, did you see that? Did you see that clip of Nick Wright breaking down Josh Allen? Did you see that? I don't need him breaking down. I watch him. I watch him in big ball games.
Starting point is 01:09:24 Hey, that shit was good. And it gave me a different perspective. I'm like, holy shit. Yeah. That was a good four minutes or five, however long it was. Because, Ocho, you get enamored. You see the great things. Right.
Starting point is 01:09:39 And you forget about the bad. Right, right. The horrible interceptions. And that's what's doing this career. Forget about the bad. Right, right. The horrible interceptions. And that's what's doing this career. The turnovers at the most inopportune times. Bro, you can't... You go get a field goal. You can't throw an interception in the end zone.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Right. You can't. You can't fumble. Oh, boy. Listen, Josh has that gunslinger mentality like Brett Favre now okay okay
Starting point is 01:10:11 okay gunslinger mentality I mean it is I appreciate it I got the arm strength to throw off my back foot my front foot falling down rolling left rolling right he has the arm strength to do it he just throws those interceptions
Starting point is 01:10:26 at the wrong time. That's it. But he's such a talent. It's like... Like, what are you doing? The guy's, what, 6'5", 6'6", 240, 250. Yep. Can run through a big brick wall.
Starting point is 01:10:41 He got speed. He can make every throw. But the turnovers, Ocho, turnovers got speed. He can make every throw. But the turnovers, old Joe. Turnovers will kill you. Yes, every time. The thing that Tom Brady was good at. He was not good. He was great.
Starting point is 01:10:58 Tom Brady could tell in the first six months of the game what he was going to need to do. God dang it, I'm going to have to get into a shootout with somebody. I got to throw for 350, 400 yards, three to four touchdowns. Right. Uh-oh. A turnover might doom us. Can't put the ball in harm's way. Right. First six minutes of the ball game,
Starting point is 01:11:11 Tom Brady could tell you what he needed to do. Right. And he would play the game accordingly. See, it's okay to be a game manager at times. Mm-hmm. Because he knew, come playoff time,
Starting point is 01:11:23 you play double for turnovers. Oh, yeah. that was his great that was his great and he was great at a lot of things his ability to process and fight boom boom boom boom whatever you're trying to go and he fed little coach belichick he and coach belichick would go over the rundown and i tried to tell people coach belichick was better than what you thought because you line up in a formation and Coach Belichick being a defense he said this is where you're weak I would attack you here
Starting point is 01:11:51 so now Tom knows okay let me slide let me rip let me let me hey let the back check his way out hey I need you to do this X Y and Z but you have to the quarterbacks got to understand that. But you have to, the quarterback's got to understand that you got to understand immediately,
Starting point is 01:12:07 bro, if it's going to be a 13-10 ball game, Ocho, you can't be throwing. You can't be taking unnecessary risk. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You right. I'm Michael Kasson,
