Starting point is 00:05:45 don't me hey hey hey we had a nice run then we we had a nice run we had a nice run smooth absolutely yes sir uh huh hey hey how the fam doing bro how i how wife and the kids doing i see little josh doing this thing i see you coaching over there on the sideline i see you went because you didn't got at somebody talking about, don't call me no more. Oh, man, I ain't know it went that viral. No, but- What's going on?
Starting point is 00:06:11 No, it's fun, man. The A&U space is fun. You know, I've been doing it for about five, six years now, so yeah, my son is getting, he'll be a senior this year. But he's been, you know, been going through all the stages, not skipping steps. Yeah. You know, he was one of those kids that didn't jump off the porch,
Starting point is 00:06:31 was like, okay, he's gonna be super nice. He really put the work in, and he's the player he is today. So I'm just excited about his growth and where his future is headed. You know what I mean? So, hey, that's what's up, bro. I enjoy watching him.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I see he's shooting at three ball. He gets to the rack. He's going to boost that thing. No, he's going to boost that thing, huh? A little bit, a little bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, the sky's a limit for. Huh?
Starting point is 00:06:58 So he's overly shooting it, though. He's shooting it, though. Oh, yeah, yeah, the sky's a limit. for him, bro. You keep him in them, keep his head on right, keep him working hard. I always tell mine, bro, you got to outwork the competition. You know what I mean? Right, right. Keep him going there. But I've been seeing you over there doing what you think. You think you're going to get into some coaching. You what's up? I mean, I don't know. I mean, I like it. I like it over there. You know what I'm saying? It's definitely made me a patient,
Starting point is 00:07:22 more patient person. Yeah. You know what I mean? I understand it. And they gave me a lot of respect for a lot of my former coaches just because of the detail of what they have to do and just the work they got to put in in order to get there. You know what I'm saying? So, I mean, I do see myself one day being on the staff for somebody. Hey, it's a little different though, you know, when you're coaching them young boys because what you know now, smooth, what you are, 41 now? 40. Yeah, I'm 40. So would you be in 40, bro, coaching these young dudes who 15, 16, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:08:01 Like your mentality of the game is so far ahead of those guys. They didn't take them a lifetime to catch up. So what you try to do is embed everything that you know into them and hopefully one day it clicks. You know, so I kind of know and understand that. Bro, I went through the little coaching thing myself, coaching my son. So it's fun, bro.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Because at the end of the day, all you want to do is support. You want to be that support system for them and help them navigate, you know, this process because we've been there before. We know what it's like. We know the blueprint. Yeah, and it's kind of hard at this age to hand them off to somebody that you know, don't know as much as you do about the game. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:08:40 Hello. Then you have conversations with coaches that might not ask. Because, like, if I was a high school coach or AAU coach, and I seen you come into a gym and I was coaching your son, I just asked you for advice. You know what I'm saying? Hey, man, what players y'all used to run? What kind of schemes defensively y'all, what did y'all look for offensively or some stuff like that?
Starting point is 00:09:02 You know, you got you got a lot of ego-driven people that are in those spaces. So, you know, they don't, they feel like it's lame, you know, like second coming of them, you know, asking a question like that. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, it's tough. You know, I've been in that space move. Your infrastructure got to be right. You got to have people who you can really trust, especially when you're talking about starting a program.
Starting point is 00:09:29 It's a lot harder than what people, you know, anticipate or think, you know, just because we former athletes, people think that we could just magically turn this, press this button and make it happen. But it's a process you got to go through, bro. You got to take your lumps and bruises just like everybody else did. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:09:45 Facts, you know, you got to be okay with kids leaving, you know what I'm saying, coming. Because, you know, at end of the day, you know, When you point into these kids, you want to kind of give them information that they need going on to the journey. But everybody's not going to get it, you know what I mean? But that's okay. This is long as the ones that you touch along the journey gets it and they appreciate, you know, like just the AU program you had. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:10:14 Yeah. You said, Iso Joe out there in the magnitude of what you were showing those kids in Arkansas. You know, some people, some kids appreciated it and some, you know, some kids. kids didn't understand it, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, like you have some kids that are a little less fortunate if we're keeping it real smooth, they're going to take advantage, bro. They're going to work hard. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:10:35 Versus some of the kids who may have everything at their disposal, they don't look at it like that, bro. That fire ain't burning their belly enough for them to, you know, be able to go off and get one of these top scholarships going to college and things of that sort. I mean, you look at the landscape of college nowadays, smooth. Hell, it's a professional sport now. It ain't, it ain't just like. I call it, I call it semi-pro.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Yeah. I call it, college, no, boy, it's semi-pro, man. Hey, hey, and with it being semi-pro, they ain't really trying to babysit you, bro. You know what I mean? You're making, kids making millions now just to go to college. I mean, hell, if that was a case, when you was around, you probably would have went to school for a year too, huh?
Starting point is 00:11:19 Facts, yeah. If they said I was going to be the 17 pick, I would have went to Doug in some of that money. money. Where you, hey, hold on, hold on. Hold on. Where you would have went to school at? Indiana, where they got that good NIL up there?
Starting point is 00:11:32 You would have, hold on, hold on, hold on. Being a Georgia boy, man, you, how, look, look, here's my thing. When you got the talent that Georgia has, bro, because y'all, y'all spitting them out, what it's basketball, football, baseball, it don't matter. Man, you gotta do what you can to keep that talent in state, bro. You can't, they can't let you get out of town? Yeah, man, but you know, I didn't want to go to Georgia. I grew up a Georgia fan, and then when I committed to Georgia,
Starting point is 00:11:57 like my sophomore year, I was, no, I didn't commit to Georgia. I wanted to commit to Georgia, but by my sophomore year, Jim Herrick was the coach. Yeah. That's when he had the pipeline jumping. Like, one, nobody leaving Georgia, you know what I'm saying? Under his wife. They were NIL before NIR.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Hello. Then the boy Colt, you know, snitched on them. Hey, they'll take a basketball one-on-one class. You just say, talking about what is the three point of work. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:12:29 Yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, we got a paw one time, man. We got this little talking-ass dude that got on a little Jeff T. T. What's up, baby? Hey, we appreciate you. I appreciate you for joining me for the ISO takeover. I got smooth joining me every night for the next four nights.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Well, tonight, Thursday, and Saturday and Sunday. So we're going to be on here clown and acting a fool. and I only felt it was right. I said, man, I got to hit T, see if he'll come on and kick this thing off with me and smooth. You know, maybe talk about some of the times that we had back in the day, man. You know, some stuff we're going to take to our grade.
Starting point is 00:13:04 That's just what it is. You know what I mean? For sure. Yeah, yeah. Some stuff we're going to take that grade. But, but listen, man, hey, I've been checking you out and what y'all are doing over there at 520, bro. You know what I didn't expect, Teague.
Starting point is 00:13:22 I ain't going to lie to you, bro. I ain't expect, look, you quieter than me here. I didn't expect for you to be on no podcast, bro. Nah, I talk more than you, bro. That's crazy. That's a lie, bro. To be on a podcast, I never would have thought that, bro. But the one thing I tell you, you're doing a hell of a job.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Appreciate it. I appreciate you, man, just for, you know, keeping your boy relevant. And somehow, some way out and snuck into this space on nightcap with Uncle Ocho. And it's been fun, bro. I never imagined that I had this much fun doing it. And so when I got the whiff about this takeover, this iso takeover, I had to hit smooth, have him come join me. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:14:02 Because it's been a lot, it's been a lot more exciting than what I anticipate. I ain't going to lie, bro. I've been having fun. We just came from Fanatics Fest in New York. You had a ball out there. So I've been keeping up with y'all, man. You and the boys over there, hey, y'all are a little uncensit at times. It's good for TV, bro.
Starting point is 00:14:19 We were all another cut, bro. Yeah, yeah, hey, T, I see you in the coaching, too. Yeah, high school, alma mater you coach? Yeah, I coached my old high school, man. We, we one of the top teams around here, smooth and almost to the guys that play on my team. They play AAU, he didn't play against them a little bit. But, yeah, we're a pretty good team, though. Is these all guys out of Indiana or y'all been recruit?
Starting point is 00:14:43 You know, hey, hey, hey, you know, in college, college different. It's a pro sport now. High school, hell, it's going to be the same way. Hey, did y'all see they're going to start selling? these teams in college, like pro teams? I seen you in LV. They put their bid out there. Why, you already done did it.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Damn. Who? Utah Jazz owner. Oh, did it? He kind of over that situation, I think. Man, they changing the whole landscape of the game, bro. T, what you got, what you got going, bro? What's next for you?
Starting point is 00:15:12 What, you're in 520 got going? Are you trying to coach in the league? Are you trying to be a scout? You want to do any of that? Are you cool? What you're doing? I already did the scout thing. So when I first retired, I scouted for the Hawks for two years, which was cool.
Starting point is 00:15:25 But we started doing the podcast, and I started coaching high school. And high school was so fun. We were sad as, man, we was sad as hell my first year. We won six games. Yeah, but last year we was really good. I think we lost three or four games, but I had a pretty good team. And we looking really good this year. But I did the scouting thing.
Starting point is 00:15:46 I couldn't get with that. I ain't going to lie. It's a lot of traveling, ain't it, bro? And you don't stay in the hotels? was used to. Nah, bro. I was using my whole scouting budget paying for new rooms, bro. I was like, nah, I'm working for free. Yeah, I heard, I heard there was a challenge in itself. Uh, I never really wanted to get into it. I love being around the guys, you know, helping out when I can. I'm not necessarily, you know, rooting coaching out, but I just love helping in some form of capacity. You know what
Starting point is 00:16:16 I'm saying? No, thanks, thanks. Hey, hey, it'll be good at it, though. It's hard. It's hard. I ain't gonna lie to you think I'm saying think about the pros is a lot tougher because guys making so much money now here y'all thought we were making some money back in the day the money that the money he got making now is it's ridiculous bro but they respect y'all gang though like it's different when they respect your gang like everybody want to play like you they want to play like smooth and they know if y'all was a little younger if y'all was 20 years younger y'all be premier players in this league like everybody know that so they don't Hey, smooth, you get 150 easy. You get that easy. Man. You were 22, you was 20 years too early, bro. I'm trying to say, but. They copy and paste me.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Hey. Hey, hey. Oh, copy and paste your boy, man. Hey, in the meantime, we got the big news that they hit, you know, Brian went to of Philly. Teague, I didn't really, I didn't get to see y'all if y'all was on this morning. Yeah. I want to know what you in smooth things.

Starting point is 00:20:31 legendary musician Amy Mann, and many more. Kyle is going for it here. You fully improvised, not just words, but a song, a melody. Well, I thought he was going to write. The world gets crazier, and Yamanika is here to tell whoever's responsible, you're the problem. If you come over here to play games, I'ma check you. Okay? If you do some in the news that don't sound good, I'm going to play you.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Join Yomeneika Saunders as she breaks down the week's most problematic stories on her new podcast. You're The Problem with Yomaniqa. Do you know I just found out who? Sydney Sweeney was. New episodes weekly every Wednesday is part of my new network, the Dear Chelsea Network. If he got a bunch
Starting point is 00:21:30 of women, then I should have a bunch of men. Do better or do less, so I don't have to do so much. So join Yamanika each episode as she answers one question. Who's the problem? I'm Yamanika, and I'm out. Listen to you're the problem with Yamanika on the I Heart Radio app, Apple
Starting point is 00:21:48 podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. I want you to let me know what you think about, uh, Brown going to Philly and then T you out to that. All right. Um, I mean, it's a big move for, uh, Philadelphia, uh, especially for the fan base. Um, but I thought he was going to, you know, legacy wise, I thought he was going to do something like, uh, Miami, you know what I'm saying? Probably Miami.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Just think like not go to a whole new team, you know what I'm saying? Because when we're thinking, I mean, like, when we talk about like the greats, like, when we have arguments about like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, those guys stayed on one team. So it's like, you know what I mean? So when you say like, you throw LeBron in that conversation, and then you get to thinking about how many teams we play for. So, you know, that's all I think about. Like back in the day, we always talk about when we talk about legacy and guys being like great, you know what I'm saying? And we just talk about guys, you know, even like Reggie Miller.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Like, just talk about those, like, how, if you were super, one of those guys, you stay with kind of like either one or one organization or maybe, maybe one to two, if anything. Right, right. Young T, what did you got for me? Yeah, no, I'm different. I like that Bronn went to Philly. I thought he was going to go back to the Cavs so Bronte can go back to Cleveland, too.
Starting point is 00:23:16 He gets the Bronny jersey. Bronny 6 in the Cav jersey would have went crazy. I thought he was going to do the legacy play. you know what i mean go back to cleveland then i thought he'd probably become part of the ownership but uh it didn't go that way he went to philly i think they're a really good team um i don't think they don't know if it's it's it you don't know if it's enough balls and no basketballs bro that's what i was saying i was like jelan brown came from shooting 22 shots a game tyrice maxi shot 22 shots a game then you got in b who didn't play
Starting point is 00:23:47 a lot but when he played he was the focal point and then you bring in brawn I'm like, I don't know if it's just enough. I don't know how they're going to use Jalen Brown. I don't know how they're going to use Tyrese Maxie. It's just too many. Man, I told Arcan Ocho, I said, listen, soon as J.B. got traded. I'm brun.
Starting point is 00:24:04 I'm on the phone with M.B. Because my first thing is like, big fella, you're going to be healthy. Can you get me at least 50, 55 games? Yeah. You know what I mean? Because at the end of the day, if M.B, they ain't healthy.
Starting point is 00:24:16 They don't look like no championship team. You know what I mean? At all. But the question. But the question, oh, go ahead, go ahead. Go ahead, smooth. I'm saying, I'm saying, like, with all that firepower, does it give him ammunition to be able to kind of chill
Starting point is 00:24:30 until, like, the back end of the season to be able to have a play out push? Because he actually, he knocked, what, he knocked Boston out by itself, for real, for real. Yeah, I know. You know, you can't, you can't stop in B, bro. No, true. So if you, yeah, when healthy. Yeah, when healthy, Brian played his role, he's going to facilitate. He's gonna make you know Maxie
Starting point is 00:24:52 Edgecombe Brown Them guys are gonna score I don't think Brown gonna come in there he ain't trying to come in there ever know 25 He'll probably settle up about 18 or 20 a night with about eight or nine And sis but I think it's more of the control that he'll be able to have with this young running and gunning team It's like putting him back there as a quarterback bro like you Maxi he gonna be out there like a baby AI You can do like kind of how New York done with with with cat and brunson they took the ball out of Brunson hand played through cat he just Brunson just kind of came off picks came off screens and was a score I can see Maxie in there I could see edge come trying to be a lockdown
Starting point is 00:25:30 defender I'm mad how mad would you be if you edge come though you just came off an average and damn there's 17 now they're telling you three and d could I don't hey listen listen listen but hold up though but hold a whole a whole old old old smooth and tea I ain't necessarily if I'm if I'm edge come I ain't necessarily mad you know what i mean at at worst case we're gonna have him for two years now this is a learning this a learning two leish that i can go he can take me on this wing i can learn from all these great players that i'm surrounded by because hell i still got another 13 14 15 years to play in the league it ain't like he ain't gonna get his money when it's time for him he gonna get his money i just think they have a window and everybody's talking about lebron ring chasing i think he's found
Starting point is 00:26:12 an opportunity to where he can continue his legacy you think back i thought he was going to go back to Miami fellas, I ain't going to lie, but then once I started thinking about it, hell, Brian trying to make history, bro. He want to be the one player to win a championship for four different franchises. Nobody has done that. Hell, probably nobody will ever do it. You know what I mean? Considering the fact that every night, bro, every point he's scored, goes down in the books
Starting point is 00:26:36 in history books because he's the leading score. So he's going to put this thing so far to reach. It probably won't even be in our lifetime fellas for somebody to catch him. I'm just going to keep it real. No, it's over. I don't think nobody ever catch them. They had to make, like, somebody had to hit 600 threes in the season or something crazy.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Like, you got to be doing something. Like, we ain't never seen that we ever thought what happened. But I'm just, if I'm Vijay, because I played on y'all team. And when I came and I wouldn't get no shots, no touches because I was hot. So if I'm him, my average 16 as a rookie, I'm looking to be like a 22-point score as a second-year player. Like, I'm looking to, like, move up. And now Brian and J.B.
Starting point is 00:27:18 Come, that be my shots go to dang near half. I'm going to eight shots again. I'm hot, bro. And you got Anthony Simons on the bench. And you bring KCP in for another 3-and-D guy. So if I'm not playing well, I know them two dudes. They're seasoned veterans. They're ready to lock in.
Starting point is 00:27:35 They're trying to want to chip. I'm hot if I'm here. I ain't going to lie. Oh, yeah. You're going to throw as a, but what, how hard do you think LeBron going to play during a regular season with that salary base? or smooth. I think he going to compete because like I said, man, his legacy is still, it's still going to be great regardless of the situation,
Starting point is 00:27:56 but I think he wants to add to it. You know what I mean? Everybody's talking about how he's chasing Bronn, this, and third. I don't think he's that. I think he has another way he's going to put his stamp on the game. I mean, he's already a first ballot legend, arguably the best player to ever play. Check this out. It's one,
Starting point is 00:28:12 is one assistant coach has had some doubts about. how LeBron and Joelle and B will fit together on the Sixes. He said, it's scary. It can be unstoppable or it can be hard to watch. The unnamed coach told Mark Medina, I think that's his name. He said they're both slow and old. And when you get tired of, when you get tired and drain the clock and you're methodical and isolating, you know, every time down court
Starting point is 00:28:42 and everybody's just standing around and watching, and you say you're going to end up falling down behind because they're so old. I don't agree with that because they have some youth on that Sixes team. They can obviously, even if Bro and N&B miss a couple of games, then boys can carry them, man. They got J.B. J.B., one of them. J.B. top 10 in the league.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Tyrese-Margably could be top 10 in the league. So they got two guys over there that's capable to take over, to be the guy. So I ain't worried about them scoring, but to win a championship, you got to have Bronin and the B playing at a high level. You do. You do. You do.
Starting point is 00:29:20 And you look at, you look at J.B. He's going to be looking to put his stamp on the game. He's going to be looking to prove guys wrong because of how the Celtics got rid of him. So I think when you got guys who come into the season determined and determined to make a case and show people up, like this veteran team that they have,
Starting point is 00:29:41 I think the sky's the limit, bro. can't rule out of Philly, bro. They're going to be there. How y'all feel about Miami? I know you're running the show, Joe. My fault. No, no, no. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:29:52 My fault, man. What do you think about Miami? Oh, man. I think they need, I think they need more shooting, for sure. I'm trying to figure out how that bam and Yonis situation works. And, you know, I want to, you know, when you've been in a situation, like how Yonis been, where you've been a man that you had 100% of control of everything pretty much like how you want to move and stuff and you know Miami is a little different yeah um so uh
Starting point is 00:30:24 it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting to see how all that how all that works down there yeah i think i think Miami going to be pretty good obviously they're not done i think they're going add a few more pieces they definitely need some shooting everything they have a point guard they got the little davion mitchell kid yeah they're gonna be able to guard oh yeah they're gonna be they're gonna be people gonna be running two three zone on them no they're you hey hey they ain't gonna be running zone but they they don't be trapping boxing elbows on on on yonness it's It's going to be different, bro. I ain't going to lie to y'all, though,
Starting point is 00:31:07 but that's why I thought Brown was going to end up going so he could kind of really facilitate and play that point guard role. But hell, with no shooting, Janice and Bam. I know Bam can shoot and he can score, but it's just hard when you don't really know who's going to take care of ball handling duties in Miami if you bring LeBron in with Janus.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Like, that's a lot. Plus, you ain't got the shooting that you need. You know what they're going to do? they're going to go back to how they was playing when Brian and D. Wade first got there. Remember they was hedging ball screens? Yeah. They're going to start hedging ball screens,
Starting point is 00:31:41 trapping them. They was doing all that crazy stuff. They're going to be doing that again with Bam and Janus at the four and a five. That's what I'm saying. Yonis is going to be motivated to do that, though. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:53 New senior. Yeah. Look, man, y'all know Pat run a tight ship over there. If you don't know, I'm here to tell you. He run a tight ship. Waiting body fat every Friday. So don't you think you're going to be out they eat them zulus and wim whims and come in and compete he ain't having that the one thing you
Starting point is 00:32:07 ain't got to worry about is yon is because here he stay in elite shape you just got to hope he stay healthy throughout the season and this what i always tell cats bro you know during the regular season y'all know this you can coach through the regular season but boy when you get in the post season and the game and they game planning for you and you got to exert all this energy every possession it's a huge difference, bro. It is not the same. It is not the same. That's a fact.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Hey, y'all been paying attention to the Hawks. What's up? What y'all got for me? Y'all like what the moves Hawks made? Like Jeff said, they're going to be able to play some defense. Damn, you don't think we're going to be in the scum? You know, you don't think we're going to be in the scott's more. Where is that?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Where is it? I like the Johnson kid. I like what he got going on. You know, I think, you know, his next step is to, you know, to show what he can do in the postseason because, you know, regular season, he's really good. Oh, yeah. But, man, I'm trying to figure out where they're going to get the defense at, man.
Starting point is 00:33:17 They still got the Daniels kid, right? Yeah, we got more than enough defense. We got what, Lou Dors, Dyson, Danes, Aaron Wiggins. We're going to play some defense. I don't know the scoring. I know C.J. is a bucking. C.J. Yeah, CJ a bucket.
Starting point is 00:33:31 But I think, I think Jalen Johnson going to take another lead, fellas. You think so. I hope so. Yeah, yeah. I hope so because think about this. He averaged, what, 22, 23 during the season. It wasn't great in the postseason,
Starting point is 00:33:44 but that's a learning curve you got to go through, bro, especially when, like, it was his first time really being a guy because Trey left. You know what I mean? So having all that attention on you, the one thing I would say that was glaring to me from watching him play, like he has to know and understand he that dude.
Starting point is 00:33:59 You feel what I'm saying? Like, I just felt like in the next series, we had a lot of opportunities that kind of got away. But what you have to understand is a score and when they game playing for you, when you see a crease or a crack, you can get through, bro, you can't wait and be like, okay, I'm, I'm going to wait next time. I don't want to force it. Hell, sometimes you got to force it, man.
Starting point is 00:34:17 You know what I mean? Like, for him to put his stamp on the game, he way too athletic. He's very unselfish. He can pass his ass off. I think that's what got him in the make, getting all them triple doubles right behind yokeish throughout the regular season. I enjoy watching them play. I wish in a perfect world, boy, the Hawks would have got the fourth pick. Because I knew Caleb. I knew Caleb Wilson was going to be that smooth. I'm going to let you speak on Caleb in a minute. But I knew Caleb was going
Starting point is 00:34:43 to be there for four. I was like, man, you put him with them boys. Yeah. Hey, hey, that boy, they're a fool. Smooth, what you got for me on Caleb, bro? Yeah, probably the, uh, probably the best pick in the draft for real, for real, to be honest with you. I don't know how he went to four, for real. To be honest, you know, I think he would have been the top three pick as far as, like, franchise-wise, who I wanted to, you know, a person that I could build my franchise around. Yeah. From that position, because he's capable of kind of doing kind of a little bit of everything.
Starting point is 00:35:17 He kind of reminds me of KG. But with a little bit brand-do and he plays, he plays defense with a different type of intensity. Yeah, you like his game T. No, I like him. I like him a lot. He surprised me with his ability to shooting the Summer League. I know he said he was shooting
Starting point is 00:35:33 2,000 shots a day. I don't know if he was shooting that many, but you was getting some shots at him. It was a cap. Go ahead on. Hold on. Y'all think that was cap? That 2,000 Joe.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Hold on. But hold up, hold on. The only reason why I say I... 2000 makes the shots. But hold up, though. The only reason why I believe him is because he broke his hand.
Starting point is 00:35:53 And so he missed a line. of the season so that anxiety that he had in him to get out there and play and compete you know he knew he was going to be a lottery pick a top four pick so he wanted to come out and summer league NBA summer league improve okay cool I ain't made but seven threes my college career in North Carolina hell I'm gonna make seven in the first damn game I play you know what I'm saying but I just thousand Joe two thousand bro you was a you was the most seat time awesome you way he shoot 2000. No, I ain't gonna lie.
Starting point is 00:36:23 I didn't get him no $2,000. I didn't get them $2,000. He said makes. He said me. Hey, but listen, but listen, did what y'all got to understand. These kids are a little different, bro. You know, they're making good money in college.
Starting point is 00:36:35 You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't know why that's not that hard for me to believe, bro. I hope he did. I'm cool. 2000 makes, bro. He a better man than me because I would not be in that gym now. I'm fatigue, man. Money is already in the bank, man.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Huh? Money's already the bank in his eyes. The money already in the bank? Yeah, I've been there. Yes, sir. Hey, man. Hey, y'all take me back, bro. Take me back 2009, 2010.
Starting point is 00:37:01 Boy, when we were running through the ATL streets, T. What? What? Oh, man. That was the best time of my life. Boy, I met y'all boys, man. Oh, man. I changed my life.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Boy, I was just a little green kid from Indiana. Boy, I ain't no nothing. I get on the hawks, boy, I ain't no nothing. Hey. These boys got me buying a challenge. man I tell a I tell the story of one night we got in it had to be by two three in the morning and me you and Josh had a challenger and yeah we was on the freeway race I'm the only one guy pulled over and y'all a ass kept going I said man listen I went on port over because I
Starting point is 00:37:38 don't want no problem he let me go any damn way so you know cool but hey hey there was some good times bro those some good times you know I hate it you know it had to end the way it did but I always say it's the house that Dominique built. Hell, me, Josh, and T, we put a little stuck old, you know, we put some new lighting, you know, some new side and then that trade came in and renovated that thing. You know what I'm talking about? I think Jalen Johnson got a chance to redo the whole thing, bro.
Starting point is 00:38:07 I'm just going to keep it 100, bro. I think this Hawks team is going to surprise a lot of people. Obviously, defensively, we can guard. We just got to be able to score and rebound. I just think the size, like, as much as I'm not. I like the Fleming's kid from from Houston. I love him as from point guard perspective. But we do need a little more beef down there, bro,
Starting point is 00:38:28 to help them boys out. Because that's really what hurt us against a Nick. I don't know. I've seen that they had a trading for like people have been talking about Jared Allen. If we can get Jared Allen. Oh man, I'll take that. What?
Starting point is 00:38:40 Y'all think, hold of you. Y'all think Cleveland gonna get rid of it. Nah, I mean, they got to get out of that second apron though. They're gonna have it. They got to go some money around. Yeah, it facts. because they, they, they one of the top, the top ones, ain't they, uh, Jeff? Yeah, they got that one of the highest payrolls for sure.
Starting point is 00:38:56 And Donald McElrain, he ain't holding back on nobody. He just got that new extension. He ain't planned around. I put a ring on it, too. I got to feel me. I got to lock that thing again, bro. Yeah, I need that. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Oh, yeah. Hey, the NBA has definitely, uh, the landscape of the league has changed, bro. You know, you look at from how the game is played now. It ain't it ain't no post players no more. You know, you probably got three post players for real, for real, M.B., Yokic. Hell, who else? So I said they copy, face me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:31 It really ain't no post players. It's not, bro. It's not. The game has changed, man. And, hey, the way they getting up and down the floor scoring these points, it's a guard heavy league. Boy, I wish I was just 10 years younger, but I had a pass ball to you niggas. I mean, you guys, hey, you know, I'm going to show a little different, my fault. My show a little different, my father.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Hey, hey, hey, it's just, you know, you know, timing was a little different. You know, you got thrust into that, but you held your own, bro. But yeah, we needed that, we needed that peak tea, that tea when y'all was out here running the Eastern Conference, running, you know what I mean? Yeah, that's the one. Yeah, that's the one. I ain't going to lie. I was too young, bro. I was too young.
Starting point is 00:40:16 I ain't going to lie. y'all was already a season team bro y'all y'all just came off that playoff match up with boston y'all was already kind of heading towards the right way y'all needed bitty y'all need a curhomber i wasn't ready but boy when we got d'n i was like hey can't say with this young boy i can't say with it dula but i can't
Starting point is 00:40:36 i can fake it yeah you had hey you had to get on your horses boy yeah what it's it's a big difference i think the point guard spot bro i watched my god deris A Cuff play for the Sacramento. You know, you're going to have your lumps and bruises at that position because that's the hardest position to come into the league and play because you're going to come in and you're going to have your two guard like Zach Levine who's been in the league for quite some time.
Starting point is 00:41:01 Now you've got to try to figure out how you can get yours off and how you get these other guys involved as well. It's similar to the quarterback in football. You know what I mean? Like you got to know how to distribute. You got to know you got to go through your read. you got to be able to pick stuff up a lot faster than a guy who's not a point guard or a quarterback. So that point guard position hard, bro, especially when you come in and you ain't played the whole first round tee.
Starting point is 00:41:26 And then damn, you run into that night. You got to guard the MVP. Like, I get it, bro. I get it. I know that was challenging. It was challenging, but the hardest part is, like, realizing that y'all have grown in. Like, I just came from everybody 19, 18, on my college team. And I come to the team with y'all.
Starting point is 00:41:42 You're all 28, 30, Mary got kids. I'm trying to leave. I'm trying to tell y'all what to do. Y'all like, hey, boy, swing it over here. I ain't worry about nothing they talk about. And, you know, I didn't know about contracts and all that stuff. Hey, as a young boy, you don't know none of that stuff. Hey, but that's why I heard you said before,
Starting point is 00:42:03 that's why it's great to have ex-vets on the coaching staff. You know, T, you had Nick Van Nexel. When I was a rookie, I had, Lester Connor. And they would tell you straight, they would tell you straight up. Hey, look, brough, Lester Connor told me to say, hey, man, you need to be in the bed by noon. I mean, by 12 o'clock midnight. You know what I mean? You don't need to be out all night. You need to eat this way. You need to eat that way. You need to get to the gym. If we got practice at 12 noon, you need to be there at 10 o'clock getting your work in. By the time them dudes get there to
Starting point is 00:42:35 the vets, hell, you didn't already work out twice. You're just ready for practice. So it's little stuff like that, like even from him, because y'all know, hell, y'all played on the Lester Conner with me here in Atlanta. Man, listen, the man will call me to his house at night, bro, and his wife will cook and, like, you know, just teaching me certain things to eat. Oh, yeah, no, don't put too much, not too much mayo, not too much ketchup, you know. It's just little things like that that as a professional athlete, bro, you appreciate because, man, you come in, you be so green, you don't know, you're just so happy that you made it
Starting point is 00:43:06 to the league. And you're like, I'm going to put on. I'm going to put on. Man, listen, you got to fall in line, bro. You got to figure it out. That's the hardest part. That's the hardest part about being a pro. Yeah, understanding.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Yeah. I know that was tough for you though, Josh. Coming out of high school? I couldn't imagine, boy. Now, hold, hold, hold. Not just coming out of high school, but smooth, you got drafted to the hawks. You're from here, bro.
Starting point is 00:43:32 Yeah. Like, tell us, like real talk. Tell us how that first year was. And then because I know, y'allel, I think y'all only won 13 games your rookie year. It's 13 games. What they were hitting on, bro? What that was like, real talk.
Starting point is 00:43:48 It was, well, that was a hard time, boy, as a rookie. Because I, you know, you thinking like, whatever situation you're stepping into, you're thinking like, this is, this has to be the scenario for everybody. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like, so I'm thinking like every ownership, every team is getting treated, like how we're getting treated.
Starting point is 00:44:07 So I'm like, I'm just, Mr. Deering Headlights. I had Antoine Walker. Yeah. He was probably the best, the coolest vet. But we had like Kenny Anderson. Yeah. Kevin Willis and so they used to get into it all the time, bro.
Starting point is 00:44:25 So then you had, you had Al Harrington, but he was like on his, he was like on his deal. So he really wasn't trying to, he really wasn't, he really weren't, he really went messing with me like that. Yeah. Yeah. You in my way. I ain't got nothing to tell you. I'm like five, he's like six years, seven years in.
Starting point is 00:44:43 He's like, man, I'm still in the league, bro, I ain't got nothing to tell you. Yeah. And so I used to kind of like lean on Antoine because like Kevin Willis just wanted to give me like the rookie experience, but he never wanted to do nothing. Like I remember I had it. I was coming in with a nasty number from number 42.
Starting point is 00:45:04 I was coming to that. I was getting my little AU number. That shit was nasty as hell that I think about it. But they was like, we're going to sign Kevin Willis. Can you, can you charge jerse? I'm like, I just pick five. I'm like, man, just give me five. It was for like no reason.
Starting point is 00:45:20 I just threw a number out there. Yeah. So that's how it worked. Then when he came in, they was like, people were telling me how, oh, man, they go, you know, the veterans show love when you get your jersey up, they're going to get you somebody. Just at the third. I'm like, oh, all right, bad. I'm rubbing my hands together.
Starting point is 00:45:40 You know what I be? I see him. What up, young fellow? He covered in the judge, just messing with me the whole time I'm in there. I'm like, all right, bro. I guess I'm getting the Ricky Hays of him, so I used to stay connected to Antoine
Starting point is 00:45:52 whenever the chance I got. He won't show kind of everything, though. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was a real one, though, for sure. Oh, yeah. Now, listen, you know, Tuan and Kenny Anderson, smooth, you know, they were my best one.
Starting point is 00:46:06 I was a rookie in Boston. See, that's what I'm saying. See, these kids, today don't have, they, they threw, it's like training day with them type niggas, you know what I'm saying? Oh, man, you're talking. Hey, hey, hey, hold up, T, did you have to carry the backpack when you was looking at me?
Starting point is 00:46:22 Nah, y'all know y'all pop corned my car, y'all did all that stuff to me, man. Yeah, because he didn't want to carry the backpack. He didn't want to carry the backpack. That's why he had. What would he do, smooth? He didn't want to carry the backpack. You know what I carry the backpack.
Starting point is 00:46:35 You know what I said? Swanky. Swank you to have some dust in that jazz. Hey, I know that feeling, boy, because I had two other rookies with me, Joe Forte and Keedrick Brown. Yeah, and we all had to carry backpacks. Not only backpack, we had to get coffee in the morning, don't know. I'm talking about these dudes wasn't even eating this stuff, drinking none of this stuff.
Starting point is 00:46:56 Oh, I know. Oh, trust me. I know. Oh, you had to make a few store run. I had to get crispy, creepy morning. I left them in my locker. I put them in my locker. at the top.
Starting point is 00:47:08 They was green. I remember smooth, probably open one up. They was green because I just kept recycling them. I'm like, they don't even eat them. We had some hell of a time, bro. Hey, I think about those times, you know, it was always something going on. I always tell people, bro, I say, listen,
Starting point is 00:47:28 yeah, they always talk about, man, why the Atlanta Hawks ain't never won no championship? Yeah, man, it's something going on every damn night. Soon we leave the arena. Listen, we go right. up the street hitting Lucky Lound. We probably go, go to the comedy spot. Before we hit the spot,
Starting point is 00:47:43 it might be a concert. It might be a concert one night. Somebody may have a big party. Man, shit was something going on. It was something jumping in. We're going to pull the jury. But it's time. Two, the owners was trying to go low budget on the coaches.
Starting point is 00:47:56 What did you say? It was like, who got this one point? It's 1.5 high. Hey, they folks ain't give us a chance on that. Yeah. Let me keep a hundred down. We were blessing new coaches and stuff, now. Guys had their first coaches careers off the letter hawks, now.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Don't do that. We had no popular music. I remember one time we went out, man. I went to, I knew the schedule to go out because y'all know I wasn't playing, so I knew who to go with on Wednesday. Who was going to? There's no, Joe ain't answering that phone after the game. Joe answering that phone.
Starting point is 00:48:32 No, you know he didn't answer the phone. He's going to tell you where he's going. He's not answering that phone. Yeah, he'd be like, just meet me there. He ain't going to answer the phone. He's going to tell you, he's going to tell you, we're going to do this and that right at the game and then don't answer that thing. Hey, don't do that because we was in now.
Starting point is 00:48:47 You used to get there. I used to get there. I just went by the door. Yeah, because I know, because he told me where to go now. If it was something going on, damn it, we was there. I'm talking about we was there. You hear me? I don't care what it was.
Starting point is 00:49:00 We went to the club at 10. We opened the club up and listened to no hands for two hours. We, hey, hold on. We had just left like a concert or something. Yeah, we were the first one in the spot. That Roscoe Dash, come on. That no heads, boy, we were, hey. We were there for, what?
Starting point is 00:49:17 We was in there for two hours before somebody got in there. Ah, yeah. We had a time, man. Oh, yeah. Hey, Teague, but before you got to the A, bro, we were lean with it, rock with it. We were doing all that in the spot. I'm mad, I wasn't there. I hadn't hurt.
Starting point is 00:49:32 I remember they tried to send me to the G League one day. Y'all was going to Miami. y'all was like boy you gotta go to the g league i was like yeah he was like dang well we're going to miami i was like i beg rick son i was i please i'm like i beg you i was like please man i don't think i would get better down there hey after that they said it's time out for the foolery they they went and hired that hired that other man and he came in he started with me you know got me up out of got Marble up out of here. Next thing you gotta know is that things weren't the same.
Starting point is 00:50:09 It wasn't the same at all, boy. It wasn't the same. I was ready to get on up out of here. Hey, smooth, hold on. So when you went to Detroit, tell me something, because you went over there and you played the three and you had been playing pretty much the four with us. I'm saying that's what they was telling you
Starting point is 00:50:26 before you came over there? Ah man, when I signed the contract, they were like, boom, you're gonna play the three. I'm like, huh? I'm like, no. Like, no, bro, let me, you know what I mean? I've been playing the phone for nine years. Like, I don't got to cut them to that position.
Starting point is 00:50:40 Like, just bring one of us off. Like, if you just, like, sign me, just bring Greg or drumming off the bench, one of them. You know what I'm saying? Because both of them kind of similar games, they just, you know, well, drummers, I mean, Greg was more of a post-up player. But, like, as far as, like, just down low-scoring, like, they were more, like, down there in the paint. I was, like, more perimeter-based. and I could be more versatile, like, guarding people.
Starting point is 00:51:05 So I'm like just, they're like, no, we're going to play all three of y'all together. I'm like, man, this is somebody getting fired, bro. It's like somebody's not going to work, bro. It's not going to work. So I got the weight down and, you know what I'm saying? I started figuring out the position probably like a month into the season because, you know, it's a different position playing in the three from the four.
Starting point is 00:51:29 Yeah, yeah. Yeah. He was chasing guys around. on screens and running through picking roads. Hey, hey, that's the scores position, the two, three in the league. Man, Paul Drew is cooking me, bro. The first game, he's talking about he just got the 90 ball. He was like, yeah, that's why y'all gave me the 90.
Starting point is 00:51:48 It ain't nothing I can do, though. You know what I'm saying? I'm fighting through screens, contesting. But I was so mad, brother, the next time we play them, I woke his ass out, though. I was like, boy, I can't pay tea, bro. Like, that just had to be bad, bro. the calendar i'm like bro wait till we play in the end again oh yeah oh yeah he just got paid he went slap off oh y'all when y'all boys left man it wasn't the same dog hey what but it was a
Starting point is 00:52:16 little better for you though i see you you you went ham out there yeah we i got i got the ball it was a little different but it was we ain't go out like i was i was still trying i was still trying to hold on to the memories bro i'm going out by myself I've been buying people, ain't nobody showing up. It was just different, bro. I can imagine, bro. I can imagine, but listen, y'all brought some, y'all brought some love to the city, bro.
Starting point is 00:52:43 What y'all made, Jeff, to the Eastern Conference? Yeah, we went out. Yeah, y'all playing against a Cleveland team with Brian, Kyrie. No, we went once, yeah. We got swept, though, so. Damn. Hey, when y'all be shooting that, T?
Starting point is 00:53:01 Will y'all be shooting the 520 at? We got a studio. In where? In Indianapolis. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Why are you going to come to the studio, man? Yeah, man, I'll pull up on y'all, bro.
Starting point is 00:53:11 And you got coming town. We used to shoot at my crib. We don't shoot there no more, though. Smooth came to the crib. Came to the crib. Hey, I come to that, man. I do some yoga with y'all, man. Y'all come do some yoga with me.
Starting point is 00:53:22 Hey, yeah, matter of fact, last time, yeah. I didn't pull up. I was you said that. Hold on, Smooth last time we came to the letter. We came for Joe. Yeah, remember that. That's why. I had to sub me in.
Starting point is 00:53:34 We didn't talk about this and got over this already, fellas. We didn't talk about it and got over. We went up to the ISO yoga spot looking for him. He might be here doing yoga, bro. We're going to pull up, bro. Hey, hey, listen, listen. Y'all got a good yoga studio I like out there in Indiana, bro. I'm going to pull up on y'all for real.
Starting point is 00:53:59 I come out there, man, and, you know. You're going to come out there and bless the studio, man, see what y'all got going on. Please do, bro. I do yoga. I've never done it before. I'll try it. Oh, yeah.

Starting point is 00:58:28 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. sources, Ramona, Ramona Sherburn cites one source who argued Joel and B remains the most important player and most important star on the roster. You know, it comes down to Joel, if Tyrese, VJ, Jalen Brown, LeBron, if those guys, there's not a championship, they're saying that that's not a championship team, but if those four guys in Joe L&B, that's a championship team, meaning And if Joel ain't in the conversation, if he ain't able to get him 100%, if he ain't able to play, bro, it makes a huge difference. He's the difference maker in that Philly team.
Starting point is 00:59:16 I know we're going back to the Philly thing, but he's the difference maker to me. I don't know when the last time he's played 60 games, but, man, things got to change, bro. You know, you got two cats coming in who bona fide, you know, superstars and J.B. and Brum. run. I ain't going to lie. I'm excited for Philly, bro. I'm excited. They're going to make some noise. Um, we had a, we had a thing on the show the other day. Who you think play more games? Embed or AD? A.D. A. D. In a contract year, who you got? AD. A.D. I think so. AD is playing more.
Starting point is 00:59:53 Trying to go on smack one more time. Who? For sure. Ad. A.D. Yeah, he's trying to go on. He tried another max, huh? I think, but when you think about it, Washington may have to pay him, though. they may have to pay him because why not? I mean, you're going, you're going to, just think about this. You got Trey, you got Trey over that AD. Obviously, you know, Washington probably going to make AD play a little bit before they just guap him down.
Starting point is 01:00:20 Like they probably going to goop him down before the season start. You know what I mean? Like, he's probably going to have to play and show that he's durable that he can be able to make it through an 82 game season, bro. Like, hey, it's going to be different. I think they, go ahead. smooth. I said, what they're going to do this year? What y'all think they're going to do this year?
Starting point is 01:00:38 I think they're going to be good, but I think they trade AD because I think Alex Arr, man, he showed some promise last year. Damn, you don't think Alex Sar and AD can play together though? Oh, they definitely can play together. But, like, why I'm going to pay AD a max deal when I got Alexar still on a rookie contract and he's going to get paid eventually. But think about this. Who going to pay AD a max deal? There is any teams out here who are going to pay him
Starting point is 01:01:03 four years, five years, 215 million. Is any teams gonna do that, bro? I love it he went to Portland. I think Portland would, even though they got a cheap owner or whatever they're doing, but like Portland with Dane
Starting point is 01:01:18 and that crew they got over there, they're just missing him. And they are a real, a real playoff team. Hey, but I think, I think, hold on, I think Washington a real playoff team too, though, Jeff. Y'all don't think,
Starting point is 01:01:31 y'all don't think, I'm saying, I say a real playout team, a top. Hold on, Jeff, they got like, what Portland got like four point guards, though, don't they? Yeah, I'm saying. So we start, we get rid of some of them and get AED. Who do you get rid of, though?
Starting point is 01:01:46 You got Drew Holiday. I think Drew and Dane can play together. And who else? What's the school Henderson? Right. And they just grabbed somebody? They got John Morin, too. They got John around.
Starting point is 01:02:03 Yeah. Hold on. Hold on. So who are you saying they need to get rid of T? I don't know what out of them for who you want to get rid of. I know Dane not going nowhere. Well, let me, let me break something to y'all. John Morant is like one of Nike's elite, you know, athletes.
Starting point is 01:02:23 Oh, top sellers. Y'all know that Nike is in Portland. They ain't brought that man out there for him to come off no damn bench. I'm just hitting to hit you on. Oh, no. he's starting for show that's why i think drew holladay might be on the move yeah the danes all dame's starting for show like and and and when you look at it when you look in the playoffs last year when when uh portland played against the spurs school henderson has some good game game one and two
Starting point is 01:02:52 he couldn't be stopped i don't know if y'all really paid attention but game one and two couldn't be stopped he couldn't be stopped so i can see them keeping and holding on to him and continue to develop him because I think he's going to be a hell of a player. He's always in great shape. I just think he need confidence and he need reps. Young guys, bro, you got to let them play.
Starting point is 01:03:13 You got to let them play through them damn mistakes and just let it kind of unfold. So I think... You think if they don't get AD, that wouldn't be a top team, though? In the West? Yeah, well, obvious. He had an all-star year, average and 20-some.
Starting point is 01:03:29 Dame coming back, you know, Dane. He got a check. on his shoulder. He's about to try to prove something. And you get AD and clinging and you still got John Morrent in that mix. He got something to prove. I think that's a dangerous team more than the Wizards.
Starting point is 01:03:43 Like the Wizards, Trey Young got something to prove, but I just don't see them keeping AD with Alex Sar having the year that he had last year and the promise that he'd been showing. Yeah. Don't see it. And they got a bunch of young dudes on that team.
Starting point is 01:03:58 A bunch. They got a bunch of young dudes who can go. My only problem with the Wizards is I don't want to see AJ DeBosso get lost in the sauce, meaning, you know, Trey trying to prove himself, AD trying to prove himself. That's why you got to move on. You got trade that D, bro. Yeah, because you think about it, it's hard, man, for a rookie or for a phenom to come right into the league and guys just kind of defer to him. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:04:25 Like, I ain't saying, you know, I don't think Trey, I ain't saying Trey ain't going to do that. I just think Tray is a hell of a facilitator that he can make the game a lot easier for AD and AJ. You know what I mean? And vice versa. You know, they talk about the defensive lows of Trey. But I think with all these long athletic guys who can protect the rim, who can guard,
Starting point is 01:04:45 because they ain't just got Trey, bro. They got some guys coming off their bench who can get money. Yeah. So I'm looking for the Wizards to be exciting. You know what I mean? I'm looking for Trey to get off. I'm looking to see AJ do his thing. I'm looking to see AD help change.
Starting point is 01:05:00 the coach over there, man. I think those dudes can be a hell of a football team in the east. You're talking about sending AD to the West. The East is better than the West now. I like them in Portland, though. You think the East better than the West now? Yeah, it's only OKC, Denver.
Starting point is 01:05:16 We questioned Denver a little bit. Spurs. Spurs. OKC Spurs. We questioned Denver a little bit. Then after that, who? What about Houston? No, I'm good.
Starting point is 01:05:26 I'm good. Damn, I don't know. I don't know. I'm good. I'm good. I don't know if the east, I don't know if the east better than the west. Come on,
Starting point is 01:05:34 you got, you got Boston. They're going to be good. You got Philly going to be good. Indiana getting Tyrese back. Hold on. Hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 01:05:44 I know you're going to throw you in Indiana. I know you're going to throw you. I'm not even Indiana fan, though. I already know. I already know. But, and you know my boy, Gennaro over there,
Starting point is 01:05:53 he over there coach him. You know, so I, I see another day at the gym. Yeah, yeah. I try to. roofie y'all on the low but i don't see it i don't see it i don't see it though
Starting point is 01:06:04 i don't see it they just hey before tyrese got her was top in the east you still got detroit who was number one in the east last year nobody talking about them no more because i think they ain't on i don't think they too gun-ho about bringing a big fella back nah they not they did who you talking about who you said they're they paid them huh they paid them what they paying he got like a two-something for five years. They did it already? They paid them.
Starting point is 01:06:34 It wasn't the max, though, was it? That's damn new. That's overpaid. I ain't know. He got to pay yet. I'm happy for it. Hey, man. Everybody, they get paid for sure.
Starting point is 01:06:47 It's the timing, bro. They got to pay him. They got them paying, fellas. Think about that. I appreciate the timing, though. I'm happy for these young guys, though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, because think about it,
Starting point is 01:06:57 he was such a huge piece to what the Pistons did, bro. They can't just let their man walk, man. Now, they got to try to get somewhat of a discount, but. During the season, though. So this is what I was saying, like, these folks don't find a matrix in the game. They don't find a glitch in the game when it kind of like, I'm just going to ball during the season.
Starting point is 01:07:16 You feel me? Hopefully they could just, hopefully I can go 20 and something in the season. And maybe hopefully I have one good game in the playoffs, and then I can knock the bag off. the thing is the thing is the regular season you know you can get by because because teams ain't really game planning like that you feel when we get to the post season yeah yeah when we get to the post season yeah we get to the post season not only is a half court game but we're trying to expose your weaknesses you know what I'm saying yeah if I'm
Starting point is 01:07:49 an owner if I'm a gym right what am I paying the guy for am I paying him for granted I do want him to be healthy, right? I want him to play 82 games, but what am I really paying him for? Am I paying for him to get me a ring? You know what I'm saying? Or am I paying for him to be one of them impact players in the playoffs? Yeah, you paying for the hopes of winning the championship, winning the title, considering the fact that y'all made it to the, what was that, the Eastern Conference, semi-s, that was semis, right? Seven games with Cleveland? Yeah. They probably, they feel like they really should have won their series yeah they they in hopes of damn all we need is a little more scoring maybe some more shooting you know around k
Starting point is 01:08:35 so we can take some of the load out because i just thought k he had to be too heroic in the postseason just for them to even just for them to even be in the damn game i'm like bro it's going to be hard to win like that but they were so early in a process that's why i was like why y'all don't pay them y'all in year two of this process y'all was just y'all made the playoffs then you know I became number one. You're saying why they pay, you said why haven't they? It's just early in the process of being a team. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:09:03 Like, they're all in year 12. Okay. In year four. Question to y'all, though. What do you pay that the time, that twin? Oh, he's going to prepare defenders. If he learned how to shoot a corner three? That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:09:22 Joe, go work with him. But do you, do you, do you, do you, do you, do you, do you, Pay him before that, like knowing that. Yeah, like I'm saying he ain't up to he probably ain't up to what next summer, right? Mm-hmm. I think, I think smooth. I think what I think if I'm Detroit, I make sure young boy been in the gym all summer, man. I just, you got to work on a catch and shoot.
Starting point is 01:09:45 You got to have that in today's game. If you want to be one of the premier guys defensively, yeah, hell, he's going to guard the best player. He going to wreck havoc. He's going to be great on that end. I even think he can, you know, when he ain't, when he ain't out of control, you know what I mean? His driving ability is elite. I just think you got to be able to shoot nowadays, though, bro, especially if you're playing that two, three spot. Hell, even if you're the four, five, hell, if you can't shoot, you better be jumping over the damn moon to catch this live.
Starting point is 01:10:12 You know what I mean? I just think the way the game is today. You got to be able to score that ball. It's a, it's a, because I say that because at one point, do I, I, pay a guy for defense if the rules to keep changing for an offensive guy to be able to it benefits the offense he has to be so elite that I would want to pay him 90 million because if I'm paying him 90 million and he can't he really can't stop nobody you get what I'm saying yeah yeah I don't waste I really I don't waste my 90 million yeah now I think he got
Starting point is 01:10:51 so much room for development like you know how I go People can't shoot. You remember like, okay, like every Bradley was an elite defender. Yeah. Drew Holiday probably was the best perimeter defender I ever seen in, like, in my days of playing. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:08 So I'm like. Hold on. Hold on. You think Drew Holiday was better than, uh, what's the little guard who was in Boston, Jeff? We should pick guys from tag from Taylor. Abe Bradley. I said, Avery Bradley.
Starting point is 01:11:17 Oh, no boy. Go too, boy. Yeah. They was, that's, they were nasty, bro. So I say like those two, I'm like, you know, but what, like, who in today's game is like a really a lockdown defender? He is. Assur Thompson is.
Starting point is 01:11:35 Yeah. The way. What about his brother? What about his brother the same way or two? Yeah, but his brother got a little more G though. He got some game. But he got a little bit more about it. His brother nice.
Starting point is 01:11:46 Yeah, his brother can go. He probably got a little more offensive package than him. But man, when I seen one of Detroit, dog though, bro. Yeah. I seen him like up close. He ain't, he ain't really going like that.
Starting point is 01:12:00 He ready to fight everything. Yeah, it was like, dang. I'm like, okay. Hey, when I seen the regiment that those two twins went through when they was in high school, just preparing for hoops
Starting point is 01:12:12 just to be in shape, conditioning, bro, that's different. I think them dudes was running like crazy miles, doing crazy push-ups. You know, I think, I don't know if it was a dad or not, but they had somebody pushing them. And they understand that.
Starting point is 01:12:26 Because them boys are going to be in some shape and they're going to play hard. Like you say, the one in Detroit, he just got to find that jump shot, bro. He's fine because he's getting too many wide open looks. And in the posting, and I'm like, damn, I'm talking about they weren't even hitting the rim, fellas. I'm just keeping real.
Starting point is 01:12:40 And I'm a fan. I'm saying, like, you wide open like that, boy, that's demoralizing. You swing it to somebody and they ain't hitting the rim. Hey, everybody at the game we had when I was young. You passed it to me for the game winner against bossing out ear about them. I looked at, I try to shake your hair,
Starting point is 01:12:59 everybody just shaking their head. Hey, listen, let me tell you so. They tell you something. Man, when I first got hit Atlanta, bro, you know, smooth, you shoot a lot of jump shots. So, and they come in in an opportune time. So coach would come to me, it'd be with Mike Wilson. He'd be like, hey, man, you got to go tell Josh.
Starting point is 01:13:18 It'd be like mid-game. He'd be like, you got to tell Josh. When that ball's swinging them, he needs. to drive. Don't shoot that damn ball no more. So I go, I'll go right to smooth. Look him there in this face. He'll look me dead in my face. T. I say, hey, smooth. Don't shoot that motherfucker no more man. Drive.
Starting point is 01:13:32 Or if your man go trap, you follow. That motherfuck of a ball gets swung to smooth. What do he do? He let that whole go. I remember I had a bet with him, bro. And he wouldn't shoot three that he just shot off. I can't remember what year that was. I had one best seasons of my life during. was hooping, bro.
Starting point is 01:13:53 Yeah, I was. I should have got an all-star that year. I thought she was going to be an all-star that year, for sure. Hey, it's a lot different when you locked in and then pitch a dude, bro, he only even warm up. Like, you know, how you're going to warm up for the game? Like, I got to go out there see if the rims soft. What, that, had that net switching the day?
Starting point is 01:14:10 You ain't see, you ain't seeing being soft in the morning time? Do you what I'm saying? How much, how much warming up shooting? We're going to go. We're going to shoot around that. We didn't that thing for about an hour and hour half. Are you? Okay, then we go back home.
Starting point is 01:14:28 We come back, shoot some more. Then, okay, so then it's only a 15-minute slot. So I'm coming in there. If I hit two or three in the row, hey, man, I got to go back inside. I'm only shooting eight to nine shots a game. So, you know, I know where they're coming from. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:14:45 I know when I get the rebound, you're going to run with me to get you some open looks. Yeah, oh, yeah, hold on. Hold on. When you get the rebound now, I'm sprinting to the corner because I know you're going to do a 360 pass. It's going to be a bullet to the corner. Ain't nobody knows coming but me. I said, oh, yeah, I know you see him over here.
