Club Shaysha was nominated for Outstanding Podcast, Society, and Culture. Please go vote for your favorite guys. Uncle Ocho, the link is pinned in our social bios. Ocho, Kellen Moore is in the driver's seat to be the next New Orleans Saints head coach.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Moore will be in New Orleans next week, but can't be contacted by the Saints until after the Super Bowl. Now, if everything is what we're hearing is true, everybody's just turned this thing down. They're down there $100 million over the cap. They don't know what they're going to do. Everybody's just turned this thing down. They're down there $100 million over the cap. They don't know what they're going to do. Probably not going to have a quarterback.
Starting point is 00:09:50 And so everybody, most of the coaches are saying, look, this job is set up for failure. And I can't win with this much money over the cap. I can't win. Probably not going to have a quarterback. And this is a recipe for failure.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Now, you say it's a recipe for failure. First off, I want to have a quarterback, and this is a recipe for failure. For failure. Now, you say it's a recipe for failure. First off, I want to ask a question. We're talking about the quarterback situation. So I'm assuming Derek Carr is gone now, right? His cap number is $51 million. Okay. So at any point, understanding the landscape of the NFL,
Starting point is 00:10:23 and most of the teams already having a quarterback at the helm that they're going to go forward with, does Derek Carr consider taking a pay cut to stay with the Saints? Or do they tell them, you know, forget that. I'm not taking a pay cut. We're going to move on and we go with Spencer Rattler as our starter. Uh,
Starting point is 00:10:39 they're going to have to make some tough decisions. Very tough. Listen, Derek Carr wants to play football. He does. I'm sure he's not ready to make some tough decisions. Very tough. Listen, Derek Hart wants to play football. He does. I'm sure he's not ready to go anywhere right now. No, no, no, he's not. He's not. All right.
Starting point is 00:10:52 And when you look at some of the big dollar veterans, Cam Jordan, Honey Badger, the running back. Kamara? Yeah, Alvin Kamara. I mean, they just got so... They just kicked the can down the road for so long, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:11:10 trying to go for it. And you understand, look, you're trying to win. And you can appreciate that. But at some point in time, that balloon payment is going to come due. And when the balloon payment comes due, do you have enough money
Starting point is 00:11:22 to pay that interest-only loan? And it seems like they're not going to be in that position now you're going to lose a lot of valuable players you're going to probably not have a quarterback probably have to read the you know reshift this might be a total rebuild right uh you see cliff kingsbury took his name out of ben johnson wouldn't even go uh aaron glenn wouldn't even go you Aaron Glenn wouldn't even go. You see, it's being reported that Mike McCarthy said he's going to shift his focus to the 2026
Starting point is 00:11:50 hiring cycle. You see some of the other guys that said, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. So it's going to be interesting to see. Like I said, Ochoa, it's just hard when you're you want to be a head coach.
Starting point is 00:12:06 You know there's only 32 of these jobs. And you never know when the opportunity is going to present itself again. He's hot right now, Ocho. His team, the team that he's calling plays for is headed to the Super Bowl. But you got to understand, huh? Listen, even Kellen Moore knows. People that understand the game of football also know that the team he's calling plays for
Starting point is 00:12:27 have the players to execute the X's and O's, which is why they're successful, which is why they're going to the Super Bowl. Listen, if you're a play caller, well, goddamn, it's easy to call plays when you got the damn supporting cast and personnel that you do have. Yes.
Starting point is 00:12:40 It's easy. And for one, it starts with one position. You start with the quarterback. You got a quarterback. you got a supporting cast you see you get you see you get you see what they got in that backfield right say kwan come on now two outstanding receivers outstanding tight end top two offensive line in football a young defense that can fly around to the football look at all those first round picks jaylen carver jordan davis uh nolan smith nicole b dean you got darius slay uh uh you got uh uh mitchell on one side you got uh cooper dejan you got blankenship i mean you're loaded you're you're absolutely loaded yeah so this is this is the thing but
Starting point is 00:13:20 understanding you just said it yourself the opportunities for head coaching jobs they don't come around often enough yeah so why not take the opportunity even though you understand this might be a real bit of rebuilding stage the owners the gym they need to understand we 100 million dollars over the goddamn cat we're gonna have issues how much lease and how much leeway are they going to get kelly Kelly Moore to get that team back into... Contention, respectability. Where they can compete. How short will his lease be?
Starting point is 00:13:53 You already know how owners and GMs are. Their pace is very short. They think they can throw a little money out there and that fixes everything. That's not the way it works. It doesn't work. It doesn't work. It doesn't work. I'm hoping Derek Carr is willing to take a pay cut.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Understanding you've made a tremendous amount of money to date. But if you want, if you want to continue to play the quarterback position for the New Orleans Saints, we need you
Starting point is 00:14:18 to take a friendly pay cut. We upload, we upload a, a signable. Yeah. You know? It's like he's with Kellen Moore and he's bunty. He's bunty jumping without the goddamn safety cord.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Oh, man. I hate, look, Kellen Moore is probably his whole life when you coach. Most of the time.'m not gonna say oh there's no such thing as all in ariel joe but i think kellen moore for a very long time has wanted to be a head coach and when you want something so bad and the opportunity presents itself sometimes it's kind of like oh joe i want to get married man i know this woman don't treat me good but damn i want to be married and so i'll go put myself into a bad situation. I'm saying men, women, it doesn't matter. And sometimes I want to be in a relationship so bad,
Starting point is 00:15:10 I get into a relationship with a person that treats me like stir fry. But I want to be in a relationship, even though I know this is not the right relationship for me. And I think Kellen Moore, deep down, Kellen Moore knows this is not a winnable situation. With the money that they're over the cap, with the veteran players that they're going to probably have to release, and with the quarterback situation as uncertain as it is, it's like, ugh. Because if you look at it, for the most part, Ocho, you look at a division.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Baker Mayfield is entrenched in Tampa. They seem to have Michael Penix. Atlanta is moving to Michael Penix. And Bryce Young has shown Carolina, I can do it. If you can protect me and give me some guys to throw the ball to, I've shown you I can stand tall. Forget my height, my size, I can stand tall. Yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:16:01 But New Orleans, man, this is a very, very tough situation for Kellen Moore because when you want to be something else like i want to be a president or i want to be vp but this company like uh shanna you you know shanna that company that ain't the right fit for you but i want to be an executive though they're giving me that opportunity to be something that i've always wanted to be yes sir, sir. And you take that opportunity. And I just hope that in this situation, because like I said, I don't know Kelly Moore. I think he's called him.
Starting point is 00:16:31 I mean, you look at when he was in Dallas, they had top offenses and whatever the case, they weren't able to get it done. He didn't have that level of success with the Chargers in LA. But he's got, like you said, he's gone there in Philly, and it's been the perfect storm.
Starting point is 00:16:47 You've got a running back that can run. They've got an explosive run game. They've got an efficient pass game, and they play outstanding defense behind it and special teams. A recipe for success, a recipe that can get you to and potentially win you the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:17:01 But that's not what New Orleans has. That's not what it has. And so, if that's Ocho, I'm going to give you an opportunity to be a head coach, and New Orleans... New Orleans come knocking at my
Starting point is 00:17:22 door. Yes. All right, well, here, well here say knock knock to me Alright Knock knock Who's there It's the New Orleans Saints Brass and we come to interview you We really like for you to
Starting point is 00:17:37 Looking for a head coach And Miss Gail Benson has instructed me to come down And talk to you. And hopefully we like what we hear and we can get a job. We can get a deal done today. You know what? Looking at the landscape and the structure of the team in the state that it's in, being $100 million over the cap, I really do appreciate your offer.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Opportunities like this don't present themselves often, especially to minorities. And with the understanding of the Rooney Rule, it's been set in place for a reason. And you guys are asking for me to interview for the job. And by the sounds of it, you'd like to hire me. But to me, it's more of a dead end. I wouldn't call it a one-way street because we really wouldn't be going nowhere. Um, I appreciate the opportunity,
Starting point is 00:18:29 but I would just have to turn this down and, and, and wait for the next coaching cycle or next coaching hiring cycle, uh, for that matter. Um, with all due grace, I thank you for the opportunity, but I can't take this job.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Are, are you telling us no? I mean, for the lack of better words and everything I said, it's all summed up. Fuck no. You're going to regret this. You effing, you effing a-hole. You're going to regret this, Ocho Cinco. I gave you an opportunity of a lifetime.
Starting point is 00:19:00 You black bee. You know what? I tell you what. You'll never work a day in the NFL again. I promise you that. We're going to see to it that you don't get a bleeping job. You hear me? You ungrateful ingrate.
Starting point is 00:19:14 You have a great day. Hey, listen, I was very professional, but everything you just said is probably, if I was to turn it down to somebody that looks like me internally, that is probably exactly what they would say. But hey, I felt that was a great professional answer. You did a great job. But the price has gone up, so now I only buy one.
Starting point is 00:20:56 The demand curve in action. And that's just one of the things we'll be covering on Everybody's Business from Bloomberg Businessweek. I'm Max Chavkin. Starting point is 00:21:41 I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there.

Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Long-time NFL head coach Chuck Pagano is coming out of retirement to join the Ravens staff as their senior secondary coach. It's a reunion for John Harbaugh, who hired Pagano to his first staff in 2008. 17 years later, Pagano, now 64 years of age, is back in Baltimore. I think he came in and filled in a little bit last year, started having like mid-season because they were kind of struggling in past defense. We know he was an outstanding defensive coordinator. He parlayed that into the
Starting point is 00:24:27 job at Indy. Did an unbelievable job there. I think they went to the playoffs a couple of times. I think he was there with Luck if I'm not mistaken, Ocho. Yeah, he was there with Luck because he ended up getting sick, having to step away.
Starting point is 00:24:47 And Bruce Arians, B.A., ended up filling in and they ended up winning, you know, coach of the year and so forth like that. But do you like that Chuck Pagano is coming back to try to offer some assistance to do whatever they can to get the Ravens to the Super Bowl? Yeah, most definitely. Most definitely. And when you think about it, the Ravens defensively were in the bottom half of the league, you know, statistically in almost all categories through the first half of the season. Yes. But the goddamn defense, especially the secondary,
Starting point is 00:25:17 which you can take advantage of at the beginning of the season, midway through, I don't know what happened. I don't know they had a coming to a wait-and-exhale moment. The second half of the season, the goddamn defense was damn near top of the league. In almost every statistical category, they had
Starting point is 00:25:35 gotten very good. So having Chuck Pagano come in and do what he can do from a defensive standpoint and getting them right would be great where they can play a little bit more consistently throughout the entire end of the season. Listen, if I'm not mistaken, the Ravens only lost, what, four or five games? Something like that?
Starting point is 00:25:52 I think they lost five games. You count six when they lost the regular two. Yeah, okay. So, I mean, when you think about it, if he can improve that defense, where at one point it used to be their identity, I think the Ravens have moved away from that where their defense was there where their was their identity obviously lamar jackson the running game and derrick henry has taken over but i think it would be good where
Starting point is 00:26:13 they can play balanced football on both sides of the ball i think they'd be dangerous but obviously defense is not why they lost them we can start there defense is not why they lost in the playoffs we we know what happened i don't want to revisit that again but um in the biggest moments there are mistakes that you can't make yeah you can't beat the ravens beat themselves i'm not putting one specific play at all i'm not putting on one specific play you know but in big games like that when you're playing another team that are just as good as you which happened to to be Buffalo, you can't beat yourself. The team that makes the fewest mistakes
Starting point is 00:26:46 wins the game. And that's the same thing that's going to happen come Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday, right? Super Bowl Sunday. You got to minimize the mistakes in your turnovers.
Starting point is 00:26:58 And that goes, that starts with the quarterback play. You're absolutely right because you put your defense in a bad spot. You turned the ball over three times. Mm-hmm. You put your defense in a bad spot. Look at the teams.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Washington, they got blown out. They turned the ball over four times. You gave up 28 points on that. Mm-hmm. Fortunately for the Chiefs, they turned the over soon early enough in the game they were over to overcoming but if you look at the chiefs if you look at what they've done they've had one turnover in nine weeks you know with a lot of games on show taking care of the football
Starting point is 00:27:38 yes sir you can't win until you learn not to beat yourself. You win by not losing. I don't need to win the game. I just don't need to lose it. Don't beat yourself. Don't turn the ball over. Don't put the defense in harm's way. Don't let them score on your possessions. It's hard enough to score when you got the ball.
Starting point is 00:28:00 But now you letting teams score on your possessions? Or you're shortening your possessions? You turn it over on first down. You turn it over on second down. Now you don't even get an opportunity to get a third down. You turn the ball over in the red zone. Now you don't get an opportunity to get points out of it. There's a host of reasons.
Starting point is 00:28:15 And, you know, look, I give John Harbaugh and I give that Ravens brass credit because they're like, okay, it's leaking over here. Let's plug this. Let's do this. Let's do that. But at some point in time, you just got to play mistake-free football. It costs you. The last two years, if I'm not
Starting point is 00:28:32 mistaken, they've gotten to turn the ball over six times. Three in the AFC Championship, three in the Divisional Round. That's six turnovers. It's hard because the further you go along, the more equal the teams are to you. So now, you turn the ball over, you're playing somebody that's equal, and you make mistakes.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Now you allow them to get a leg up on you. So they're just going to have to do a better job of protecting the football. I don't think it was deep. Yes, they gave up 27 points, okay. But you gave up 27, but you put the ball in harm's way three times, and you allowed them. You can't be careless with the football. Lamar let one get away.
Starting point is 00:29:10 He sailed it. The guy broke it towards the sideline. He flattened it out. Lamar threw it high. Andrews got it punched out. You can't turn it over, don't you? You just can't. Did they have three turnovers or two turnovers in that game?
Starting point is 00:29:26 Andrews fumble? Lamar fumble. Oh, and Lamar fumble. Remember Ocho? Remember he tried to grab it? Yeah, scramble. They snagged the ball over his head, and then he tried to reach down and pick it up,
Starting point is 00:29:39 and it squirted away from him, and Von Miller scooped it up. So you're right. They had three turnovers. They just need to do a better job of protecting the football, Locho. If I can tell them anything, take care of the football and see what happens. If you go back and look, Lamar's game in the playoffs, you look at the Ravens in the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:29:58 they turned the ball over far more in the playoff time than they do on average in the regular season. And when you turn it over like that you're gonna get beat because these teams that make the playoffs are really good and from the wild card to the division round that's a better team from the division round to the uh championship game that's the better team and so when now you give them extra possessions you turn them all over you let them score you don't score because you get in the red zone and you turn it over oh joe that's the recipe for getting your butt taken going home
Starting point is 00:30:30 and say what do we do how do we get over the hump but i um i like i like it i like it though chuck pagano going there you look at the personnel he has to work with. Wiggins, very nice. Had a very, very, very good season. Humphreys, coming back. Kyle Hamilton, who's the real deal. Yeah. You know? Yes. Kyle Hamilton's the real deal.
Starting point is 00:30:54 So him working with that defense. Roquan. Mm-hmm. I'm trying to think of something else. Oduke. Oduke. Metta B. Craig. Metta B. Craig.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Hey, you know, he's going I don't, I can't remember. Meta B. Craig. Hey, you know, he's going to, he's going to have some good stuff to work with. So I, I don't, even as a banger,
Starting point is 00:31:10 I'm excited. He had an outstanding year. He was a warrior though, right? I think he was Ocho. I think he was. The big guy Pierce is a run stuffer, but he got a big interception. He could have took it.
Starting point is 00:31:21 Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,
Starting point is 00:31:23 hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,
Starting point is 00:31:24 hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey you don't hey you don't get them you don't get them off in there nah hey he said he caught that thing it's like ah he thought about no joke he took him
Starting point is 00:31:32 like two hard quick ones he like hold on i ain't gonna i ain't took but two yards oh that's another 70 oh let me go hold this thing hold up oh yeah come. He slid that thing down. Real quick. Put his head up. He just come up. And went straight to the oxen stick on the sideline. Well, he definitely, hey, if he ran all the way to the end zone, he'd have been done. Ain't no way he coming back in that game, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:31:58 There's zero chance he would have come back in that game if he took that to the house. Zero. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Ocho. come back in that game if he took that to the house. Zero. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, Joe. Fox has sold more than 10 Super Bowl commercial spots for over $8 million. The record price
Starting point is 00:32:15 tag is up from just $7 million just a year ago. Fox said it sold out its inventory for this year's game in November of 2024. Blame supply and demand for the increase. Last year's game set a viewership record of 123 million people watching CBS and streaming services, according to Nielsen.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Ocho, 30 seconds, 8 mil. It's worth it. For sure. People have to understand how many eyes are watching, not just here in the States, but globally. A billion, probably. A billion, yeah, for sure. Watching the Super Bowl. So this is very, this is one of the best ways the market and brand, whatever you have going on, and obviously the entities that are able to afford the price point for that 30 second
Starting point is 00:33:05 commercial are already big i think what it comes into what it comes up to now when we talk about super bowl commercials creativity oh yeah how can we capture the eye and captivate the individual watching the viewer in 30 seconds and you do that with creativity because what's one thing that we always get excited about come Super Bowl? The commercials. Yeah. We always want to remember the commercials.
Starting point is 00:33:29 If it's not the Clydesdales, the Clydesdales with the Dalmatian, the Doritos commercial. Doritos has always been good. The car commercial. Remember they had the frog, the bud,
Starting point is 00:33:39 why? Yeah, the bud. And the bud's about, yeah, rah, yeah, yeah. You you know hey
Starting point is 00:33:46 gotta do something to catch that like and I think can you hear me now yeah and it's just a continuation and so you're absolutely right you're right it's worth it it's only 30 seconds I think God's trying you try to position
Starting point is 00:34:03 in a situation where like people remember it because it's so much oh joe it's so many right it's so many what i mean probably what 200 spots and they're gonna get them hey they stop at every everything hey can you can you pretend like you injured so we can run to get to this commercial yeah yeah because it all anything you all because angle you ain't gonna see a whole lot of this hey we going you're gonna see a lot of this yeah with the hard gloves on and listen for those entities and brands that that that can afford those 30 seconds creativity is the biggest thing creativity Creativity. How can I draw the viewer in the eyes and make them remember this 30 seconds?
Starting point is 00:34:48 Yes. You're absolutely right. Rito does a phenomenal job at it. Budweiser does a phenomenal job at it because you talk about those commercials after seeing them for 30 seconds and hoping they come on again. And they rate them.
Starting point is 00:35:00 And then, you know, the next day you go, okay, what best commercial? This was the best commercial? This car entity or the babies uh the bud bowl there's always something that you're going to have a rating and people are going to judge which one did you like the best what's the commercial that you remember the most and you're absolutely right uh i remember when macintosh uh was that 1984 uh-huh the apple That was it.
Starting point is 00:35:26 So, yeah, the commercials, that's a big part of it. Commercial and the halftime show. Only two fan bases are happy, Ocho. My teammate in there. Your teammate in there, you know what I'm saying? So what do I got to look for, Ocho? Commercials and halftime.
Starting point is 00:35:41 And halftime, yeah. You right. You right about that. Bill Belichick wants the Super Bowl trophy named after Tom Brady. Belichick proposed the idea on renaming the iconic Super Bowl trophy Let's Go podcast saying they don't name it after, they don't name
Starting point is 00:35:57 it the star trophy, they name it the Lombardi trophy. Maybe they should name it the Brady trophy. What do you think, Coachell? I like it. I like it for tom brady's been able to accomplish arguably the greatest quarterback of all time but it just sounds something about vince lombardi lombardi it just is different at greatest as great as brady was vince lombardi it just itombardi, it fits so much better. Yeah. It fits so much better.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Maybe there can be another award for quarterback play throughout the entirety of the season. I'll tell you what you do. Name the Super Bowl MVP trophy after him. Bingo. Now that's better. Name the Super Bowl MVP. This year's Tom Brady Award winner is Jalen Hurts,
Starting point is 00:36:48 Saquon Barkley, Patrick Mahomes, yada, yada, yada. It's just like they named the championship trophy, the finals, after Bill Russell. Right. Okay, fine. Got no problem with that.
Starting point is 00:37:03 You named the Eastern Conference most valuable player in the Eastern Conference Finals after Larry Bird. Maggie Johnson got the other one. Kobe Bryant has the All-Star Game MVP. Okay, if you want to name a trophy, I got no problem with it. I don't think you can name
Starting point is 00:37:19 the MVP. I don't think you can name the league because what? In the NBA, you got the Larry O'Brien Award. That's the MVP. I mean, I don't think you can name the league because what? In the NBA, you got the Larry O'Brien Award. That's the trophy. Super Bowl, obviously, you got the Lombardi Award. But no, I agree. I think Tom
Starting point is 00:37:35 Brady, seven MVPs, the Super Bowl MVP could be named after Tom Brady. I got no qualms with that. None whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I'm advocating. Coach Belichick, we stole your idea
Starting point is 00:37:48 and we came up with what better. We're going to push it. We're going to push it. We're going to push it. Yeah, we actually do. We don't have enough trophies for named after. The defensive player of the year,
Starting point is 00:38:01 that should be LT award. That's another one the most dominating defender of all time yeah I mean I would like I said I wouldn't have no problem I mean it's going to be probably hard because people
Starting point is 00:38:17 are looking at LT off the field so that's probably one of the things that's preventing it but I think universally he's regarded as the best defender in NFL history. You don't get no argument from me. Having, you know, I was in his era. I remember LT. Remember Reggie played against, I played, you know,
Starting point is 00:38:35 I didn't play against LT. LT was injured the year that we would have, that we faced them and he was injured. But I played against LT, not LT. I played against Brucie, played against Reggie, rest his soul, Time, Ray, whomever you think, DT, whatever you think
Starting point is 00:38:51 the best defensive players are, especially in that era, I played against them. But LT, watching LT, taking LT off on tape and watching him as a young, you know, growing up, Ocho. Because he's the only guy that made two positions famous. He made the left tackle and the rush linebacker, rush in,
Starting point is 00:39:10 whatever you want to call it, made him famous. Yeah. Everybody had to go get that guy. All the TJ Watts, the Von Millers, the DeMarcus Wares, the Sean Merriman, the Derrick Thomases. Where do you think that came from? Okay. You needed somebody to that came from? Okay. You needed somebody to block those guys.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Right. So you got the Joe Jacobich and the Jim LaShave and Walter Jones and all those guys. You got those. That's why you got them. The Jonathan Ogdens. That's why you got them. The Trent Williams.
Starting point is 00:39:43 That's why you got those guys. The Gary Zimmermans. Because if you couldn't, if you didn't have one of them, you couldn't deal with the LT and you couldn't beat the Giants. Right. So you had to go get, so he made two positions. Famous. Because you had to block him on one
Starting point is 00:39:59 side and you wanted to get a guy on the other side that was like. That guy that could bend that edge, that could turn speed to power. And it wasn't good enough to get the quarterback on the ground. I need this ball. Getting you on the ground don't have the same meaning if I take this ball from your ass.
Starting point is 00:40:19 Oh, yeah. And guess what you saw? Chop. Now whatever defender do, Ocho, chop. Chop. Every time. I need the ball. You got damn, you, because a lot of times,
Starting point is 00:40:32 Ocho, if I just knock the ball out your hand, I get a sack and I can get the ball. If I just take you down, you hold him to the ball. Okay, I need this. I like the sack. I want that ball. I want to create that turnover. I want to create that momentum changing play. Take it from me.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Give our offense extra, extra, extra offensive series. Yes. Yes. But, uh, uh,
Starting point is 00:40:53 if Tom Brady, if they were, if they were to take a poll and said the Super Bowl MVP is named after Brady. Hey, as a matter of fact, do it right now. Tom, politics.
Starting point is 00:41:03 Hey, you and Peyton politics to get them balls that you have more access to the balls and y'all rub them down and have them all looking all ugly like the balls. They've been using them balls 40 years, Ocho. We had the balls. They're damn fresh out the pack. Hey, Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:41:21 This year's Tom Brady Award winner is... That'd be pretty cool. That man just retired and got an award named after him. And he should. You win as much as he's won. He's won five MVPs, Super Bowl MVPs. He's won seven Super Bowls.
Starting point is 00:41:41 What else? What else do you want from him? The only thing he hasn't won is Walter Payton Man of the Year. And that's because he probably won't now. But I would not have a problem
Starting point is 00:41:59 if they were to name. Me personally, Ocho, and I don't know what you think about this. I don't think we changed Lombardi. No. It's too iconic. And you know, I mean, but they don't have a name for the Super Bowl MVP.
Starting point is 00:42:15 So, Tom is the, that's, that's what would make it perfect. Because you gave, you, you put Bill Russell on the, on the finals MVP because he won the most who won
Starting point is 00:42:25 the most superbowls right you know what when i think about it too we're talking about the idea of changing it who's responsible for giving the green light for that is it a team of people is it in is it yeah that's that's something the commissioner i mean the commissioner could do it as far as i know. Yeah. Okay. It's a great idea. I mean, talking to the commission, I don't see if I... I mean, obviously, I'm going to see the commission when I'm down there in New Orleans. I'm just going to put a plug in his ear. I know he's heard about it.
Starting point is 00:42:56 I just want to know his thoughts on it. Who heard about it? The commission? No, yeah. I'm sure he has. Anytime something like that is said by someone like Bill Belichick, words have gotten back, not just
Starting point is 00:43:12 to the commission, but to everybody. To everybody responsible who had a say in changing a name to an MVP trophy. It's gotten back to me. He's heard about it. Yeah. And that'd be interesting that'd be interesting to see
Starting point is 00:43:30 I mean maybe you put it to the vote maybe commission say hey guys what you think guys think the owners ask the owners right but who want to sponsor it y'all got
Starting point is 00:43:43 somebody got somebody got $10 million to sponsor it. And the, whatever the, the GMC Super Bowl MVP, the Tom Brady award winner is X. Because hey, they're going to put, somebody going to be sponsoring it now. Just so you know, just so you know, Joe, somebody going to be sponsoring it.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Absolutely. And they should. But I think Tom Brady would be the rightful owner. It would be the right name to put on the Super Bowl MVP trophy, the Tom Brady Award. I like it. Yeah. They wouldn't have any troubles getting a sponsor,
Starting point is 00:44:19 especially to put behind that. No. Definitely wouldn't have any trouble. And I like it. I mean, you know, it's going to be tough for him to get down from the booth if he's calling the game
Starting point is 00:44:29 to get down there in time, unless it's a blowout on Cho. But for the most part, and he's young enough, it's something that, I mean,
Starting point is 00:44:37 the thing is that I wish we could have seen Mr. Russell do it for about 40 years. A lot of times the big economic forces we hear about on the news show up in our lives in small ways. Three or four days a week, I would buy two cups of banana pudding, but the price has gone up, so now I only buy one. The demand curve in action,

It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide.

Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No.
Starting point is 00:48:10 It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafak, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do.
Starting point is 00:48:55 To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. But this would be a great opportunity to whoever. Obviously, you can't do it this year, but I think moving forward. So, Coach Belichick, thank you for the idea. But I think Ochoa and I's idea is the one that's more likely going to happen. He's going to get his name on the MVP trophy and the Super Bowl MVP trophy and not the winning team, not the Lombardi Award, because that Lombardi is iconic. I mean, you know what it is.
Starting point is 00:49:33 It's almost like the Heisman. When you see it, you know what it is. It's like that. I think me, what do you think the most recognizable trophy is, Ocho? The FIFA, the Heisman, the Lombardi, the World Series trophy, the Larry O'Brien Award,
Starting point is 00:49:51 the Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup is a Lord Stanley. That'd be interesting. What do you think the most, the Bailon, how do you say it? Bailondor?
Starting point is 00:50:02 Bailondor? Bailondor. Okay, yeah. What do you think the do you say it? Ballon d'Or? Ballon d'Or? Ballon d'Or. Okay, yeah. What do you think the most recognizable trophy is? Oh, my goodness. That's a good question. I think if you stay in the USA, I say you'd probably say Heisman of the Lombardi. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:23 Yeah, probably Heisman of the Lombardi. Yeah. Probably Heisman of the Lombardi. But if you take it globally. Oh, Bela Ndur. Yeah, absolutely. Bigger than, more than Stanley Cup? Yeah. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:40 They needed you like the Stanley Cup, like everybody for the winning team, get the Cup for a day. They need to do like the Stanley Cup like everybody for the winning team get the cup for a day they need to let everybody get the Super Bowl the Lombardi for a day party for a day? somebody gonna mess it up well Gronk already done put a dent in it
Starting point is 00:50:56 so so but somebody should all team the players everybody should get the players should get to keep the uh the trophy for a day yeah that'd be but they like to stay in the cup because you can drink out of it and kids i mean ain't no telling what they've all done to that uh they probably drank out of it somebody else probably do some so much something else to it
Starting point is 00:51:19 but i tell you what they should do rose mark need to get me in a war who won't that spark a war hey Who want that Sparks in a war? Hey, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Come on, man. What at? I've been asking about some Rose Sparks for months now. You got to order them. Because, you know, they got to make sure you ain't got no underlying condition.
Starting point is 00:51:40 Because, you know, you got to have a strong heart. I got a strong heart. Nah, nah, they got to ask you some questions. You know you're not supposed to have a strong heart. I got a strong heart. Nah, nah. They got to ask you some questions. You know you're not supposed to take other people's medicine? I know, but what kind of questions
Starting point is 00:51:52 are they going to ask me? I don't know. Go fill out the questionnaire. Go to rosebarks.com slash nightcap. Rosebarks.com
Starting point is 00:52:01 slash nightcap. You got some on you right now? Oh, what is it, Ash? Okay, roll.co slash nightcap. Absolutely. Okay, I'm saying you got some on you right now? Yo, dude.
Starting point is 00:52:19 Well, I have a question. Can you send me like two of them? No, you got to fill out the questionnaire, Ocho. And you try to cut into my stand. Well, I ain't trying. Can you send me like two of them? No, you got to fill out the questionnaire, Ocho. And you try to cut into my stand. Well, I ain't trying to cut into your stand, but I'm trying to understand what type of questions they gonna ask me. And that's kind of personal.
Starting point is 00:52:32 And you feel like, go to roe.co slash nightcap and you pull it up. Hey, Ocho, you see all those, remember back in the 60s, they had the water fountains. Whites only. You go to the diners and movie theaters. Whites only. Micro sparks. the diners and movie theaters. Whites only.
Starting point is 00:52:46 Micro sparks. Shannon Ding-a-ling only. I don't know what to say. Well, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. I know that you talk about it in the 60s when it was whites only, you know? Yeah. But when I was in kindergarten, when I was in kindergarten, there was something that we learned
Starting point is 00:53:05 on the first day of school. Mm-hmm. The first day of school, my teacher came in and she wrote on the board, sharing is caring. I don't care. That's one of the first things
Starting point is 00:53:17 you learn in kindergarten. Sharing is caring. So if you have something, why not allow me to experience it and see what it can do for me before I decide to order it? When you go to when you go buy a car before you buy the car, you test drive it. Why can't I test the product like they used to do in American Gangsta with Blue Magic? Then, you know, then when that come time to, I done shortchange you. I done sent you three today.
Starting point is 00:53:48 I'm going through, looking through all my stuff. Man. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on. I didn't even ask for three. I just said send me one. Mm-mm. What up, man?
Starting point is 00:53:57 All I want. It's something to do something to you, Joe. I'll do something to you, Joe. Damn, that's messed up's messed up That's messed up The wind blow Hey the wind blow you had attention What Hey
Starting point is 00:54:19 Hey like you 21 Right right You know you wake up in the morning, Ocho, with that P-heart. Ain't that a wonderful feeling? Oh, yeah. Hey, listen, I remember them days. You know?
Starting point is 00:54:36 I'm asleep. Hey, Ocho. You know what I'm saying, Ocho? That right there? That's you right there, Ocho! That's you! That's you right there, Ojo. That's you. It's all good. It's all good. Get up there right there.
Starting point is 00:54:54 She's going to know where you're going to put that at. Ojo, she's going to say, where are you going to put that at? She said, Ojo, she said, I can't take all that, she said, oh, Joe, she said, I can't take all that. I said, baby,
Starting point is 00:55:07 take what you can. Take what you can. Take what you can. Hey, that's all right. Hey, I'm going to work with you. Come on,
Starting point is 00:55:24 man. Hey, that's all right. Hey, I'm going to work with you. Come on, man. Hey. Hey, take what you can. Hey, boy. Yeah. Hey, it was a good day. I bring back some good memories, man. Back in the days, man.
Starting point is 00:55:40 Yeah, yeah. I'm sorry. Listen, it ain't the same. It ain't the same it ain't the same like it was when I was you know I was in my 20s
Starting point is 00:55:47 and my 30s bro you think you're in your 20s and 30s I promise you I promise you I mean you know
Starting point is 00:55:57 as a co-host as a partner as a friend as two people that are in business I mean you would think i mean obviously i would think you know we we we're in a great space where man you got to try
Starting point is 00:56:13 these and you would actually send some to me so i can experience it for myself so i can be able to come on and tell listen this is what rose sparksarks did for me. Rose Sparks dissolve under your tongue for faster results. And by results, I mean downstairs, please, gentlemen. Plus, they last up to 36 hours, Ocho. 36. 36. So when you get turned on, it'll show. Starting point is 00:59:55 Hey Ocho You had a girl You ever had that one She said Well babe I need to get a wax Hey Tell me what it is Where's your Venmo
Starting point is 01:00:03 Where's your cash app I got you Nails I got that too me what it is what's your venmo what's your cash app i got you what okay i'm putting my phone number in there hold on oh joe logan paul says someone jacked his watches worth over three hundred thousand dollars and he's on the hunt for whoever jacked his expensive watches from the luggage during a recent trip. He believes someone from TSA agents
Starting point is 01:00:29 with sticky fingers are behind it. He told his brother Jake he no longer in possession of the $50,000 Udamar's baguette he gifted him for Christmas. It got stolen at the airport. I have reasons to believe someone opened my bag during TSA
Starting point is 01:00:44 and nabbed it. What you think Ocho? That's probably what happened. That's probably what happened and the thing about it, when I think about the airport, I think about TSA. If you're going through, I would hope, you know, you didn't
Starting point is 01:00:59 check the baggage downstairs. Yeah, with TSA, yeah, I'm thinking, like, you know... They have cameras everywhere. They have cameras everywhere, especially if you're going through TSA, so you can see if someone actually went in there, so he needs to go back and ask the airport for the footage,
Starting point is 01:01:16 you know, and see who got his goddamn watch. Wow. That's crazy. Yeah, you gotta be careful, Ocho. You really gotta be careful. I mean, man, look here.
Starting point is 01:01:32 Like you always say, there's God forsaken economy and people looking for the come up. They're looking for the quick lick. They try to hit a lick and keep it moving. Oh, yeah. Times are hard. Yeah. I just hate that.
Starting point is 01:01:46 Times are very difficult. Yeah, difficult, Ocho. But there's some people, you know, people just got to stop thinking that certain jobs are beneath them. Man, I ain't eating no fast food. You crazy? Man, I ain't doing no construction.
Starting point is 01:02:00 That hard-ass work is hot. It's cold. Bro, it's a job. Unfortunately, I'm sorry. All the CEO positions are fields. Unfortunately, you know what I'm saying? All the CMOs and CFOs and all those VPs and all those
Starting point is 01:02:16 execs, they're fields. You're probably going to have to start your way at the bottom and work your way to the top. This is the thing about it too. Also, when I think about it too, everybody, especially in today's era, they want instant gratification. You know?
Starting point is 01:02:29 They want to take all the shortcuts. They want instant. They want fast money. Everybody want to be a boss, but nobody want to put the work in. Yeah. Nobody want to put the work in and do the work it takes
Starting point is 01:02:39 to become actually that. You notice, Ocho? You notice everybody want to be a boss but don't nobody want to be told what to do they want to tell somebody what to do but can't nobody tell them ish huh so how does that work at some point in time everybody had to be told something. What to do, how to do it, when to do it. Right. You don't, you want to buy, you want to skip that step and go straight to the step where you're telling everybody, you bossing everybody. I'm a boss.
Starting point is 01:03:16 Yeah. Man. Hey, look, the one thing I can honestly say to anybody that I've ever worked for can tell you I ain't never had a problem with hard work never but I ain't gonna have no problem with hard work either
Starting point is 01:03:35 cause I done got where I need to get to now now I'm exploring the treatment options that I can take okay yeah just put it up on the top it's gonna dissolve the treatment options that I can take. Okay. Yeah, just put it up on the tongue. It's going to dissolve.
Starting point is 01:03:50 It's going to dissolve in about 10 minutes. Five minutes after that, good to go. Okay, okay. Here we go. Here we go. You can even eat. You can eat if you want to.
Starting point is 01:04:04 They don't even know. I like mine on the empty stomach because I want that blood to be used for one thing, not digesting. You know what I'm saying, Ochoa? No, yeah. That's just me. I mean, you do however you want to do,
Starting point is 01:04:15 but I'm just telling you about me. Ochoa, we got a very special guest. All right, we got to pivot. We got to do something special. We got a very special guest joining us.. We got to pivot. We got to do something special. We got a very special guest joining us. We got a three-time WBC champ at the super middleweight.
Starting point is 01:04:31 He's 29-0, 24 by KO. Joining us now, David Benavidez. Yay! Hey! Oh, he's trying to get logged on is he close Ash? bear with us chat he might be like me uh you know not as tech savvy
Starting point is 01:05:07 and so we thought we had him logged we thought we had him logged in um but uh I'm excited David Benavidez the three time WBC champion at super middleweight 29-0 record, 24 by KO he takes on his next competitor, next opponent is David Morrell
Starting point is 01:05:37 David Morrell the Mexican monster I'm still waiting to spar. I've been asking Dave to get in that thing and go to work. Give me... We want to move on and come back, Ash? All right.
Starting point is 01:06:10 Ocho, Middleburyberries d3 center thomas perry has been one of the biggest stock up guys at the east west shrine through three days yeah check out these dominant reps he's six foot five 310 pounds against georgia dt warren brinson let me see that Let me see that. Let me see that. Oh my goodness. Oh you see that footwork? Oh he sat down. Oh he sat down. Uh uh. That was nice. You see that? Hey. Hey he see him? Watch him watch how he sit down. Watch his look. Watch him sit down on him. Yeah. There he is. Sit down on him. Where did it go? You see that second clip?
Starting point is 01:06:48 Watch him sit down on him. There you go. Anchor down. Drop your hips, son. Drop your hips. Hey, that was nice. That was nice. Now, very important,
Starting point is 01:06:57 what a lot of people can't see, at the point of attack, he get them hands inside. Not only does he get them hands inside, he keep the goddamn feet alive when we're left, right. And once he anchor down out, once he dropped that angered out,
Starting point is 01:07:09 got him nice. I like that. He got a nice wide base so the guy can't, what do you call it? Teacup him over, tilt him one way or another. If his base gets too narrow, I can teacup you one way or another. Look at his base. Look how wide his base is. That's good footwork now watch how
Starting point is 01:07:27 watch how he do he's inside sit down on him he's trying to bull you sit down you see the defensive lineman he's trying to press it so how you gonna try to bull it
Starting point is 01:07:35 let me anchor down on this thing sit down right on drop anchor on me that's good technique good fundamentals awesome good hand games hey he got whoever his coach is Mmm. Drop a. That's good technique. Good fundamentals. Awesome. Good hands.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Hey, he got whoever, whoever his, his coach is. They did a hell of a job. Hell of a job. And maybe, and maybe he,
Starting point is 01:07:53 uh, went to, you know, the college season for a lot of these guys have been over for an extended period of time. Now, I don't know what his financial situations are, but you know,
Starting point is 01:08:02 they got coaches just like they got wide receiver coaches. They got a running back coaches and quarterback coaches. They got guys. I know Willie, Big Willie. You know Willie. Willie Anderson. Oh, hey, what? Hey, Big Willie the real deal now.
Starting point is 01:08:14 But Big Willie has the Willie Anderson. Officer Lyman, yeah. Officer Lyman Academy, you know. And Big Willie is one of the, one of the first, I forgot what the technique is called, one hand, I don't know how to say it right.
Starting point is 01:08:28 I know some of the terminology, not all of it, but Willie has some techniques that he does teach and obviously, listen, he's up, speaking of Big Willie,
Starting point is 01:08:37 he's up for the Hall of Fame as a finalist. I'm hoping, I'm hoping next year, man, he's one of the best right tackles ever played. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:44 I've been advocating for him for a while now. So, I mean, damn. And that's the thing, Mocho. You know, you got deep people to deep. Like Chuck Smith. I don't know if you know Chuck. Chuck's from Georgia. I think Chuck went to Tennessee.
Starting point is 01:08:58 Had some great years at Atlanta. Past rush specialist. Teach guys how to use the, hey, wax on, wax off. Know how to stab. Hey, know how to use the hey wax on wax off know how to stab hey know how to rip get skinny um you know there's a lot there's a lot more to it people like oh man he got a sack but you don't understand what goes into it there's an art ass rushing yeah an art it's an absolute art and it's a beautiful thing when you see that guy and he hey he doing this he looked go back and study aaron donald and look at look at aaron donald's doing this all he wants to do he hey show me what
Starting point is 01:09:30 you're gonna do if you get careless he's gonna whoop get skinny and he's he's dodging go back and look at that that play that he made at the end uh against cincinnati in the Super Bowl, Joe. That Joker got skinny. And boy, when he got skinny, got through there, he bit that edge, and he was like, hey. It's hell. Listen, we got Benavidez coming up next. But when I think about offensive lineman play, when I think about defensive lineman play,
Starting point is 01:10:02 and people don't understand the small intricacies that make the plays outside of just they just see a guy just running forward there's so much technique to it and then the entire body has to be in unison with all the moves making it's like dancing right it's just like dancing no the better you are everything has to be in one smooth motion, being able to counter what you see in a split second. Yep. In a split second. And when you do it the right way, it's such a beautiful thing to see. It's a work of art.
Starting point is 01:10:36 Man, when you see those guys, they have a drill where they call it run the circle. And they have that big old circle and the guys and they they just run it right around. And they lead it. You lead it. Go back and look at DT. Go back and look at Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was the biggest guy. Miles Garrett reminds me a lot of Bruce Lee, a guy his size that can bend.
Starting point is 01:10:56 A lot of these guys, you know. That can bend like that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you look at, I think, probably Miles probably, what, 6'5", 6'4", 6'5", probably 275. So he's probably a little smaller than brucey brucey was the best guy a guy that size that could bend like a little guy dt had you know had had that flexibility von miller another had a gun but
Starting point is 01:11:18 he's like almost double double jointed that he could just like bend huh you know who was is pretty good who had a unbelievable toolbox when it came to the deep end
Starting point is 01:11:32 especially a great spin you know he get you going one way and you spin spin back underneath or he get you know
Starting point is 01:11:37 Dwight Freeney yeah that was his that was Freeney's thing he gonna push it at some point in time he ain't gonna do it early. He's going to set you up.
Starting point is 01:11:46 He's going to push you in the spin cycle. You're going to get it. He's going to set you up. Yeah. And he do it so quick because he hit that inside shoulder. And when he hit it, he do this. So now he's boom. And club his way through with the elbow.
Starting point is 01:12:00 Come on through there. He's coming back around with it. The volume.
