Back-to-back Western Conference
Finals appearance for the Minnesota
Timberwolves. The Timberwolves eliminated the Golden State Warriors in five to reach the Conference Finals once again.
Ant-Man averaged 26 points a game, almost eight rebounds, almost six assists.
Julius Randle right there with him, 25 points a game, almost seven rebounds, almost seven and a half assists per game.
The dynamic duo was as good as advertised,
even better as the rounds advanced.
Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves have faced a very impressive
Donley to stars on their way to back-to-back conference finals
and dispatched them all.
Remember, last year they beat Katie and Book.
They beat Jokic and Murray.
This year, they took down LeBron and Luka.
And although they only faced Steph for a game,
the game that Steph played in, he started,
they ended up losing that game.
But once Steph went away, they swept it a gentleman's sweep,
four to one.
So the Timberwolves advance to the Western Conference Finals
where they'll wake the winner of the Nuggets and the OKC Thunder.
Watching this game tonight, Minnesota, they've been very impressive.
Ant-Man is a budging superstar.
He's growing right before our eyes.
Julius Randle has found a home.
He played very, very well alongside Ant-Man,
and they get great contribution.
Jayden McDaniels had 14 points.
Rudy Gobert had 17 points.
Mike Conley had 16 points. Dante DiVincenzo, he had 13 points. Rudy Gobert had 17 points. Mike Conley had 16 points.
Dante DiVincenzo, he had 13 points.
This was an overall team effort, and this is what you want.
You get an opportunity to close a team out.
You close them out.
You don't leave anything to chance because you'll roll the ankle
or anything away from extending the series.
They took care of business, and now they're moving on.
What impressed you most about what you saw tonight from Minnesota?
I think that, you know, watching Minnesota, you know, this year from last year,
I think they most focused.
And then just showing the world how great he's going to be, you know,
during his continuing NBA.
But you got to give the coaches a lot of credit.
It's a big game.
Close it out at home.
Get ready for the next series.
Everybody took a turn tonight.
Rudy was inside.
Judy was just pulsing up.
Conley was hitting big threes.
Dante was doing what he was doing in New York, getting big plays.
And Ab was just on cruise control tonight.
He made sure everybody got stops.
And he just played the game.
He can get smarter and smarter,
but the more you watch, the smarter you get.
Yeah, he had 22 points, 12 assists,
which is a career playoff high, 12 assists,
seven rebounds, three blocks tonight,
and a steal, as you mentioned.
The thing where they got whatever they wanted.
They shot 63% from the floor.
They damn near shot better from the floor
than they did the free throw line.
They were only 67% from the free throw line. They were 63% from the floor. And as shot better from the floor than they did the free throw line they were only 67 percent from the free throw line it was 63 percent from the floor and as you
mentioned ant-man look at julius randall was 13 of 18 uh rudy gobert was eight or nine mike conley
five or seven ant-man eight or 15 naz read three or five dante five or seven so you can see they
were getting whatever they want easy Easy shots at the rim.
They're doing a great job.
Now, they lost the offensive rebound in the battle.
I mean, Golden State had 18 offensive rebounds to six.
It didn't hurt them, but you know the next team, the next round,
both teams can offensive rebound, so they're going to have to clean that up.
Ocho, you watched this game, and we talked about when Steph went down they were gonna have to fight to have an uphill climb uh tonight positive uh possess possess he came to play he had 28 points
11 of 19 4 of 6 jimmy jimmy struggled a little bit 4 11 he only had 11 shots ocho he was 9 11
from the free throw line or three from the three-point line. But outside of Paz and Kaminga, they didn't get the contributions that they really needed.
And they really needed Jimmy Butler.
This is why they got Jimmy.
For a game like this, if Steph is out, extend the series.
Let's give him an opportunity because he's going to start doing some light working.
And the next game is three days away.
So maybe we get a chance to get him.
And this is when they need a playoff Jimmy to be playoff Jimmy in Golden State.
Listen, I don't know what was wrong with Jimmy at all.
He's been playing.
He hasn't been aggressive the past two games,
obviously trying to facilitate to everybody else.
If they even have a chance, you're down 3-1.
If you're even going to have a chance, I need playoff Jimmy.
I need that mentality to come through where I'm going to take this game over.
I'm going to do everything I can
to get myself in rhythm
first, and then I'm going to facilitate to everybody
else once I get myself going.
Pazemski
led the team with 28?
Level of 19.
Minga, level of 23.
So that shows you they were aggressive.
That's what we were expecting for Jimmy
because remember last game, Ocho,
he only took eight shots.
And we're like, man, what's going on with Jimmy?
And now he comes back in a closeout game.
It's do or die.
You're either cleaning out your locker
or you're getting another outfit
ready to go back on the road, back home.
And this is what you give us?
Yeah, but that's what I'm thinking now.
This is not the Jimmy we're used to seeing.
This is not the Jimmy I'm used to seeing with Miami.
Right?
So maybe this late in the season,
something's wrong with Jimmy.
Maybe he's hurt.
Maybe something is ailing that we don't know about,
but he's still fighting,
knowing that Steph is out
and they would have no production from anywhere else
outside of him and Kaminga.
Kaminga should be in the starting lineup from now on.
Period.
Steve Kerr should be ashamed of himself
for having somebody that's continuously dropping buckets
the way he is night in and night out
and losing efforts and still doing all he can with Steph being out.
Outside of that, listen, Julius Randle did what he was going to do.
Ant-Man, he's the face of the league.
I don't care what nobody say.
He's the head of the snake.
The snake going over.
Goddamn Rudy Gobert dropped 17 tonight, huh?
Yeah.
17.
17 and 6.
17. What and 6. 17.
What did he have?
He had 17 points, 8 rebounds, no assists, no steals, one block.
But he was plus 21.
Jimmy was plus 20.
McDaniels plus 2.
Rudy Gobert.
So they got an all-around team effort.
That's the key word.
Before I let you finish, right?
You just said the key words. A team effort. That's the key word before I let you finish right you just said the key words a team effort
six guys in double figures Ocho
not just that Chad
they all start over 50% from the field
and that's what hurts you
and especially your team on the side
don't have your main guy
and you know like you said
Butler I mean,
they've been saying he's been playing well.
Even though Golden State's been winning with him,
you ain't seen that Butler in Miami.
You know, a couple games here and there,
but he never really
played consistent in Golden State. But Golden State
won. The record looked good, but
on the court in the playoff,
Butler, you know, used to take over. But these guys
is young, athletic, and, you, and that's the game now.
It ain't about banging them, though.
It's the way and tear going up and down the court.
If you watch the Warriors and you watch the Timberwolves,
where can they guard?
Draymond really can't do anything with Drew Randle.
He's too big of a body.
He just bangs him.
They don't really have anybody that can do anything with Drew Randall. He's too big of a body. He just bangs him. They don't really have anybody that can do anything with Ant-Man.
And so, really, your two best players, you don't really have an answer for.
So if you don't have an answer for them, now you bring the double team,
I'm going to kick, and I'm going to get Mike Conley getting wide-open threes.
I'm going to get somebody getting wide-open looks
or somebody diving to the basket because you've got to send help.
If you don't send
help i'm gonna punish your guys one-on-one and that's what happened tonight your stars when you
got stars and their opposing team don't have a guys but even if nobody can really stop anybody
but make them be inefficient julius randall was 13 of 18 that's not making it inefficient
ant-man was was 8 of, 5 of 9 from the 3.
So he's shooting over 50% from the 3.
He's shooting over 50% from the floor.
Julius Rand is 13 of 18.
I mean, so, I mean,
what's...
8 of 9.
Right.
So it's going to be hard to beat them.
Especially all three of them shooting like that.
And the team was rolling. I mean, they got a little luther good with them turn over in the third quarter late in
the ball game they got a little careless but that's that's minnesota though you know they go down by
15 go up by 20. if i'm chris finch or joe i'm saying look guys if we want to be the team that
we think we can be,
we can't have a lapse like this.
Because if we have a lapse like this in the next round,
both of those teams will come all the way back and snatch a victory from us.
So let's not play around.
Let's kill a gnat with a sledgehammer.
We have them down 22, 23 points.
Let's go ahead and end it.
Make Steve Kerr go ahead and sub his guys out with four minutes left
because they're down 26.
Let's not dilly-dally around.
And I think that's the mentality you're going to have to have.
You're right.
Ant-Man is, what, 23, 24 years of age?
Yeah, I think he's 23, isn't he?
Ant-23?
22.
Yeah, he might be 23.
But anyway,
those are the type of games, this is a
very
learnable moment.
Teachable, excuse me, teachable moment.
Because when you get in these situations,
Ocho, let's not fool around.
Let's go ahead and end this thing.
Hey, I can get you out. Because Ant-Man
played 48 minutes. Drew Randall played 43 minutes. Mc and end this thing. Hey, I can get you out. Because Ant-Man played 48 minutes.
Drew Randall played 43 minutes.
McDaniel played 41 minutes.
Hey, I could have got your guys off the court.
That could have been, instead of 41, that could have been 37.
That could have been 36.
Absolutely.
And the way they played towards the end of the game, Monk,
if they're playing a better team,
if you're playing a better team out the West,
you're not going to be able to pull that off.
You're not going to be able to pull that off with those turnovers.
Obviously, collectively, when you make it to that Western Conference Finals,
you're going to be playing a much better team all the way around.
All the way around.
Shit, the goddamn Warriors, and I mean no disrespect,
no more than like a G League team tonight without Steph.
Well, Steph makes everything go.
I know Pazemski and goddamn Kamee did their thing.
But outside of that, well, it really wasn't that bad.
You know what?
They still would have Steph.
Minnesota, they got too much left, and they're too talented,
and they got Ant-Man and figure out how to play basketball.
He's giving the ball up left and right.
Because they're double team.
Somebody open every time because he's passing the ball.
You got to give him credit. He has found out how to play the double right. Yeah. Because the double team, somebody open every time because he's passing the ball. You got to give him credit.
He had found out how to play
the double team.
Right.
And that was,
and I think, you know,
Ocho,
Ocho,
I think the best thing
that happened to Ant-Man
is that he went to the Olympics
and he saw the other great players
and he saw how they played.
He saw Steph
that'll give the ball up.
He saw KD give the ball up.
He saw LeBron give the ball up.
Think about when they were down to Serbia.
And it's like, oh, and you see them guys play unselfish.
Steph, hey, guys making three or four passes instead of forcing it
because a lot of times, and said it himself,
hey, hell, I get down 10 points, I'm going hero ball.
They say, no, just make the right pass.
You've got to be able to trust.
Now, obviously, he ain't got LeBron, his step, and KD as teammates,
but you have to be willing to trust the guys that they're going to be able to do it.
Then there'll be a time that you'll have to, hey, go into that phone booth,
make a quick change, and come out with the cape on your back.
But you're going to have to trust them because you're not going to always be able to do that.
You're going to have to be able to trust those guys.
Those guys need to know that you trust them and give them confidence that they can step up and make those shots.
But I like what I saw from him because when the Lakers tried to take him away, he passed the ball.
But the problem that the Lakers had is that not only was he making the right pass, he was still getting 30 points.
He was getting 40 points.
So you got to make him one or the other.
You either make him a scorer or you make him a facilitator.
But you can't let him do both.
Right.
The Lakers problem is they want a double team,
but they're not quick on the double team for rotating back to the position.
Correct.
And that's why they killed the Lakers.
Because Lucas Lowe, yes. the Lakers because Luka Luka
Luka's low
yes
the Lakers
Minnesota's playing
five and a half
against four and a half
yeah
because Luka's boy
is going to do nothing
on defense
and they figured that out
that's why they kept
rotating the ball
and Lakers
you wear them out
we rotate the ball like that
and they kept putting Luka
in the pick and roll
yeah
so make it work
hey
because here's the thing
there's one thing to get beat.
If a guy can beat you, you're like, okay, make him take three dribbles to beat you.
The guy beat Luke off the first dribble.
First dribble.
So now he'll come.
Now the right guy's wide open.
Yeah.
You can't win like that.
There's a report coming out, guys.
Steve Kerr reportedly had an issue with Jonathan Kaminga looking off Steph at times during the game, per Logan Murdoch.
Kaminga has a propensity to look for his shot at the expense of the flow of Golden State's offense, has irked the coaching staff.
Team sources say Kerr was incensed after several instances in which Kaminga looked off Curry to create his own offense. Kaminga subsequently received DMPs in the Warriors
regular season finale against the Clippers
and then again in the play-in matchup against
the Grizzlies. By the start of the playoffs,
many within the
organization wondered whether
Kaminga, who is eligible for an extension,
has played his last game with
the Warriors. The Warriors are now 0-7
when Kaminga plays 20
plus minutes in the playoffs. That's fine. Send him are now 0-7 when Kaminga plays 20-plus minutes in the playoff.
That's fine.
Send him somewhere else.
Send him somewhere else
and let someone else
that values him
and what he brings to the court,
let him play.
Let him play.
One thing,
to play with Steph.
He just showed you
what you were going to do
with Steph being out.
I mean,
my thing with Steph,
you got to be special.
You got to be willing
to break your game down.
Like Draymond,
he break, you know,
I mean, Draymond's perfect for him. Kaminga, he's a guy, athletic, he can get to be special. You got to be willing to break your game down. Like Draymond, he break, you know, I mean, Draymond is perfect for him.
Camilo, he's a guy, athletic, he can get to the rim.
He need the ball 20 times a game.
So, train him to Washington, somebody.
Get a player back and play with Steph for the next two or three years
because he's holding his kid back.
You are.
That was some guy that broke down.
He kept his head.
He's been balling the playoff.
Even though they ain't winning.
It ain't his fault because his effort, the points,
and for him just being strong to go on the court and just go out and perform.
Some guy was against Steve Kerr.
Yeah.
And Steve Kerr needed to get over this thing, too.
Get you a lineup.
You know what you got.
It's playoff.
You all in 10 different lineups and this and that mismatch.
And J.J JJ do a little
the same thing too.
You bring these guys
the game down
to play how you want to play.
But then when the contract
come up,
you're going to reward them.
No.
These guys,
these young guys,
they want the ball.
They want to feel special.
And it's hard to break
some habits.
That's the NBA.
Because now,
it's, you know,
everybody wants to shoot three.
They want to feel the ball.
So you got to be careful these days with these
players because they're real sensitive.

In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary.
We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold,
connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen.
What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core.
It's this idea that there are so many stories out there. And if you can find a
way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear
from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing,
technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things

In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal
that looked like it might bring down his presidency.
Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir?
No.
It became known as the Iran-Contra affair.
And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second.
I'm going to ask...
I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn.
In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra,
you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal
that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago,
but which few of us still remember today.
The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell
you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
Your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see.
Muhammad Ali was never afraid to express himself
loudly and boldly and stays true to form in Ali and Me,
an eight-part Audible original.
Guided by his own words,
this series explores Ali's life and legacy
through never-before-heard audio recordings
and discussions with those who
knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles,
things he believed in, his own sense of conviction. Those convictions never wavered.

Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life
through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas.
It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know.
As a child, as a young person,
he gave credence to my audacity.
There's no debate that this is the greatest
global sports figure of our lifetime.
Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible.
Hey, Oak, you know what I like, too?
The fact that you just said, especially players in this day,
being very sensitive and you can mess with their mental,
especially when you're not getting paid time.
And now with this report coming out, the fact that even with these reports
and him not playing and her not playing Kaminga,
look how he's still when he got his opportunity.
He took advantage of it.
He made the most of it.
And he showed you where regardless of what you got going on,
whatever you may have,
where you didn't allow me to play during the Clipper Series,
still couldn't come out here and ball.
So all you did was, that was his resume, Unc.
You know what he showed, too?
That was part of his resume.
He showed me he's a real pro, though.
He showed me he's a real pro.
He didn't hang his head.
He could have easily hung his head and like, man,
if you, you done saw me, you saw me in the regular, the finale, a real pro. Yeah. He didn't hang his head. He could have hung his head and like, man, F you.
You done sought me.
You sought me the regular,
the finale.
You sought me in the play-in
and now you ain't got
no choice but to use me.
But Oak,
having played the game
as long as you played,
you know when you played
with a superstar,
you got to be willing
to sacrifice.
There's no other way
around it.
No doubt.
No doubt.
I don't care how great
you think you are.
Go ahead, Oak. If you ain't got like a continued all-star in this league,
and some guys on the bottom, some guys know how to play,
but you got to know.
I played with Michael Jordan.
You know, I came in the league.
It was both stars.
And once you see him play practice and what he do,
and I knew that couldn't be a score if I played with him.
I got rebound defense.
I didn't mind doing that because
he was winning.
You get a lot of perks just being around
him and everything else.
So, NBC bringing him back
for some reason.
We're going to talk about that a little later.
But I think the thing is,
it's hard
when you're like, man, I got the game that I can go get it is hard it's hard when you like man I got
I got the game
then I can go get 25
and
you got to play with LeBron
or you got to play with a Steph
I mean
and so
those guys are willing to sacrifice
but
if you're going to their team
you got to be the
you have to take the bigger sacrifice
right
that's the only way to do it
I mean
if you go team up
if you go team up with Giannis, you're not getting more shots
than Giannis. You're just not.
No, unless you're LeBron or Curry.
That's the only one.
So you're saying,
let me get this right. So in Kaminga's
case, let's say Steph Curry was
healthy. Oh, he ain't getting this many
minutes. Hold on. And they're both on the floor at the same
time. So he has to suppress his
game and his shots.
Yes.
Just so Steph can continue to cook and eat?
Because the offense is built around Steph and perpetual motion.
So you can't go outside of the scope of the offense in order to create your offense.
Okay.
I got you.
Now, listen.
Even with what he showed us the past two games or three games, as good as he's been,
putting the ball on the floor, creating his own shot,
even still,
he still has to defer to Steph no matter
what.
Think about what you just said.
I mean, my thing, it's all about Reed.
It's about Reed. It's like you run a route,
and you know that
it's third and sixth,
and another guy's running 10- and 15-yard route,
and you run an 8-yard route.
I'm going to look for you first.
I just want to get the first down.
We can go burn it and go next round
after we get the first down.
So Steph was the first option.
And Steph was a great pass.
He don't force a lot of shots.
But he maybe the only guy that can get away
with taking certain shots because he's Steph.
He created his own element.
So you got to live with him and die with him.
But think about what Steph did.
Steph sacrificed his game when KD came over.
Yeah.
So think about Steph Curry.
He's an MVP.
Wait, Steph still averaged the same amount of points
even with KD being there, though.
But he took less.
He's like, you know what?
Hey, go ahead and do your thing, KD.
Right.
And so that's what, because at the end of the day,
the goal is to try to win a championship.
Now, if you want to go, the same reason they got rid of Jordan Poole.
They're like, okay, you want to score.
We're trying to win games.
Right.
There's a difference between the two.
Ocho, if you're doing what you're doing and we're
winning you see
in the last seven games in which Kaminga's
played 20 plus minutes they're 0-7
0-7
when Phil played with KD
KD is so efficient
it's just like he ain't got nothing to worry
about he normally takes 20
shots he can make 13 or 14
Kaminga takes 20 shots he can make 7 or 8
it's a big difference and that's the thing because now and guess what He know if he take 20 shots, he gonna make 13 or 14. If Rameen gonna take 20 shots, he gonna make seven or eight.
It's a big difference.
And that's the thing.
Because now, and guess what?
Let's see.
Who do we double team?
If we double team KD, that means Steph and what you call him,
and Klay getting wide open shots.
If we double team Steph, now that means KD and Klay.
We're not gonna double Klay,
but Klay is probably the better of the catching shooters.
KD is going to be able to get his own shot.
He's seven foot tall.
He can put the ball on the floor.
He's a three level scorer.
He can shoot the three.
He can get to the middie and he can finish all the way at the rim.
Steph,
Steph has brought that to his bag now because before you run Steph off the line,
Steph just go sidestep you.
Now Steph will put the ball on the floor and get to his float game.
So now how do you defend it?
He just needs another player.
And they really thought that was going to be Jimmy.
Jimmy was supposed to be the guy that was going to alleviate
a lot of the stress and tension on Steph.
Because he was a guy because we saw what he did in Miami.
Miami, yeah. But for whatever reason, Ocho, he has not looked like that guy.
He's got to get out there.
Jimmity looked like he on cruise control.
They wanted him to do 85 in the 55.
Get out of cruise control.
They want you to speed because Curry ain't there.
They need you.
They need that.
Yes.
What you had in Miami.
They need that goat. Tonight in Miami. They need that go
the night
he's going to get
40 or 50.
Oh, he got to take
at least 20 plus shots.
He got to take
at least 20.
He needed to have
the amount of shots
that Kaminga had.
Kaminga had 23.
Pazemski had 19.
That needed to be Jimmy.
Yeah.
You think
the booing,
the booing,
the booing don't bother somebody like Jimmy, huh? He don't care nothing about the booing the booing the booing
don't bother somebody
like Jimmy
he don't care
nothing about the booing
huh
huh
you think the booing
nah Jimmy
yeah he been around
but my thing is
they gave him
the money
they gave him the money
and now
they want something back
for the money
yeah
and then
Pat Riley
took him through the ring
I'm like
no
Pat Riley feel like,
like you said,
that knee was going
towards E,
so it was still a fool.
He ran out of gas.
Pat Riley,
you know,
when you've been around
a long time,
you can see the guy's body.
He looked good,
got the muscles,
like,
giving out the court.
But inside,
you know,
like a brand new car.
And some people
got an old car.
I got 10 of my car
because my light,
so all my light's on,
but I'm still riding.
So you can't see the end,
but my car's about to break down.
Hey,
he got check engine light on.
Yeah.
He got the top pressure light on,
so it's just about time
for him to sit his ass
down side the road.
That's a good one.
That's a good one.
And Pat Riley, one of them old school coaches, oh good one. That's a good one. And Pat Riley,
one of them old school coaches,
you know this.
I pray for him.
Pat Riley,
all Pat Riley cares about
is year to year.
Oh, you took us
to all these finals?
That ain't got nothing
to do with it.
All I saw last year
is that you wore down
and you didn't look the same
like you did
in those championships.
So he's not,
because Pat is like,
and a lot of coaches
and GMs
and things like this, Ocho,
I've already paid you.
When I give you an extension,
I'm basing that extension
on what I believe you're going to do
in the next three, four, five years.
I've already paid you
for taking us to the finals.
I gave you $40 million for that.
I ain't paying you
based on what you've done.
I'm paying you based on
what I believe you can do.
Jokic is about to sign a three-year deal, $221 million.
Not because he's won three MVPs.
They believe he can win another two, three more.
That's why you give a guy that kind of contract.
And so Jimmy is like, hey, y'all saw what I've done?
Yeah, pass it.
We rewarded you for that.
But you know how it is, Bill. you come in, you're a rookie contract,
you get another contract.
It's hard to get three contracts in the NFL.
They think you're going down after eight or nine years,
especially running back.
You might get now the way they're doing it now.
They're trying to get a running back because they refilled the running back.
His highest value, Ocho, is winning on his rookie contract
because he's 21 years of age.
So now I get four years out of him, 25,
I don't put 250
carries on him a year, maybe more,
so I've already got 1,000 to
1,200 carries on his body.
So that's what they're saying.
It's like, well,
I don't know. Now,
hopefully, with the way Saquon has played,
the way
Derrick Henry has kept his body up,
Josh Jacobs, we saw resurgence.
We saw Jenty go very, very high.
Because for the longest time, Ocho,
they had diminished the role of the running back.
Thanks to some great production this year
by the running back position, it's starting to come back.
We saw Joe Mixon.
We saw Josh Jacobs. We saw Henry. We saw Saquon. running back position is starting to come back we saw joe mixon we saw josh jacobs we saw henry we
saw saquon we saw jameer gibbs and and montgomery so hopefully hopefully they'll start to reward
these running backs because they were looking at a the maximum value we're gonna get at this guy's
rookie contract yeah but you got to think on look at all the people you just named you talk about
the cream of the crop you talk about the cream of the crop. You talk about the cream
of the running back position. Well, they
play every other position and they
cream of the crop. Look at all these quarterbacks.
Yeah.
Yeah, but you know who they value most.
You know who they
feel is the least valuable.
They think you can just
plug and pull. I can just pull
on from somewhere else. You can't pull a Saquon
from anywhere else. You can't pull
a Derrick Henry from anywhere else.
I bet Cincinnati wish they had Joe Mixon.
Hey, Joe had a hell of a
day.
Very, very good season.
I bet Cincinnati wish they had Josh Jacobs.
Look what he did for free.
Same thing. He missed a beat.
He missed the beat.
According to Shams, Draymond was fined $50,000
for making an inappropriate comment
that questioned the integrity of the
game officials during Game 3.
Cameras caught Dray on the sideline mouthing
five and a half spread
during timeout after he filed out.
Draymond,
Draymond,
that's Nicky Chill.
Draymond,
you know,
everybody loves Draymond,
you know,
he come out,
everybody has to hear him
to go out and do it.
Draymond,
you do something every time.
They ain't calling you
because you're Draymond.
You do something.
They really give you a break,
Draymond,
and you still holler
and cuff the pitcher. I'd rather the pitcher, Draymond and you still holler and cuff the pitcher
I'd rather the pitcher
Draymond would be out
of the game
by the third time
down the court
he'd be out of the game
but oh
you know he do that
oh you know he does that
because he know
once he gets one
they're going to be
very reluctant
to give him that second
tech and throw him
out of the game
because they don't want to influence
the game. Right. Hey, I wouldn't
be worried about influencing the game. I mean,
I ain't going to let my customer be out
having six, seven points a game.
I mean, you ain't about to get a
triple-double. You got to get a triple-double.
I know he said he feels good about this
team. Butler coming, make this last
play up run with Curry,
but the Curry got hurt the team just
seemed like just they didn't have no more juice you know they played to a limit but two or later
you need talent you got to have talent on the pro to win Draymond has been fined $992,000 in his
career with $185,000 coming for action towards official He's also been docked $3.2 million for
suspensions. So,
he's lost over $4 million.
Yeah.
And, well...
I don't like to curse that much.
I don't like to be right that much, Ocho.
I don't know about you, Ocho, but
that was a good call.
That was a good call, Rell. Good call.
You know what? When you make that kind of money,
it's like you ain't even paying no mind, honestly.
Oh, you paid us a mind.
I know.
I mean, you got to think about it.
If you would have added up my fines,
I know the times were different.
The times were different.
Now, you got to think.
For 11 years straight,
I got fined every season
for 11 years straight
to the point where I put money aside
because I know I'm for the cut up anyway. But Sam, how much
do you get fined? You might get fined
$30,000 a year or $100,000 a year.
What if they fine you
a quarter of a million every year? Hold on,
hold on, Oak. You got to think, right?
My first offense during the season
is starts with $5,000,
right? I'm saying how much does it
average a year? About $40,000, $50,000?
No, no, no. Because by the time I got to about week 10 and I was doing stuff, at that year? About $40,000, $50,000? No, no, no.
Because by the time I got to about week 10 and I was doing stuff, at that point it was $30,000 to $40,000 to $50,000.
So you think you got fined?
At that point, I ain't even care.
I'm having fun.
You think you got fined a quarter of a million dollars a year?
Yeah.
You think you got fined that much?
Absolutely.
Okay.
Let me tell you something.
Remember when I tweeted on the sideline in 2009?
That was 30 grand right there.
You remember when in September,
I put on a poncho,
like a real poncho and a sombrero in September.
They took 50 for that.
And you got to think,
I kept doing stuff week in and week out.
The orange chin strap,
the black chin strap,
the road wearing gold shoes.
I didn't care.
And when you add it all up, by the end of the season,
I didn't care because I was making it up.
You were making money, but you really didn't pay attention to it.
That's what happens sometimes.
Yeah.
It could be that one's a great money.
But I got fired a lot in my career.
I got fired about four or five million.
You got fired too?
Damn, bro.
I mean.
Oh, you played 18, 19 years?
Damn.
Well, mine was more like suspension.
You know, hit a couple people in the head before the game and stuff.
Oh, you was at that Tesla with him?
Man, hey, one, two, that's it.
Hey, that's what I'm talking about. this dick hey you got a
you got it with Tyrone Hill
with Tyrone Hill
that's what
that's
how many games
you got suspended for
that was a pickup game
that was in the summertime
you were fighting
the pickup gang
I don't
you were fighting
the pickup gang
no
he tried to walk up on me
what you said
who you got
who you got to fight with?
Hold on.
You slapped somebody.
You went to that shoot-around.
Oh, that was one's name.
The Clippers.
Tom Lawson.
McGinnis.
Oh, Jeff McGinnis.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, you knew that the word was going to get back to Stern,
that you had did something, and he was going to put the, he was going to get back to Stern that you had did something and he was going to put the he's going to drop
the hammer why you do that
it wasn't about that he threatened me man
and
I told him I went in they
practiced the whole team everybody
the whole coach said everybody was dead
oh they about to jump you
man no they weren't going to do that I told Lamar all of them team, everybody, the whole coach said, Robbins did. Oh, they about to jump you, man.
Nah, they weren't going to do that.
I told Lamar, all of them,
he said, that's my friend. I told him, you ought to be helping your friend.
He didn't help him.
Nah, they know better.
Hey, Oak, you was the
original Debo, man.
Well, I mean, once my friend knew, my brother always told me, don't wait for him, go to him.
I mean, actually, in a basketball setting, words are just words.
They really don't mean that outside of the court.
They're just saying it because on the court is a safe place.
So they don't mean it.
Hey, Chad, there's one thing.
I don't play on the court, and I don't play off the court.
No, he don't. I one thing. I don't play on the court, and I don't play off the court. No, he don't.
If you want to play.
No.
What you see is what you get.
I've been doing it 30-plus years.
He is exactly what he said.
Believe me.
If he say he going to slap the head shots, if he get close to you, he going to slap you.
I like it.
I like it.
For now, it's all good and fun.
Who did you lend money to?
Who did you lend money to in the card game?
And he didn't pay you back.
Child on him.
Yeah.
Child on him.
Yeah.
That happened at a game, too.
He pay you back?
He paid you back yet?
Well, he was trying not to, but he said he was going through a divorce.
And then he said, why?
Something happened, this and that.
I'm like, huh?
I said, I ain't listening to your wife.
So I got it right before the playoff, though.
Bad OU and Y with that one.
All right, check this out.
Time to talk about your Knicks, Oak.
The Celtics strike back.
Keep the season alive.
Derek White had 34 points, seven made threes, three blocks.
He was 9 of 16, 7 of 13, plus 22 in his second 30-point playoff game
this playoffs.
Jalen Brown was sensational as well.
Very efficient.
And 26 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds.
The Knicks lead 3-2.
Game 6 is Friday.
Oak, what do your Knicks need to do to make sure they don't have to go back
to Boston for game seven?
Well, I think the antenna should be up because, you know, Taylor wasn't playing.
Brown, he was like a magician tonight.
And he got everybody involved.
He got Pritchett off the bench.
Luke, Cornette, came in, Dominic off the bench.
He was sensational.
I think, you know, they just, that was too X-Fact off the bench.
And Bridges and OG, they got to crank the car up early.
It's cold outside, got to change the car.
If you can't drive the car while it's cold.
So the Knicks going to have to come out, get more assists urgent.
I think that Tiles going to have to play better.
And they got to know, you got to set them out the sixth game.
Going home, forget about game five.
You lost.
You know, they dominate the whole game, went up 20 again, 24 points.
And, you know, I think T.M. should have took the guys out
with five minutes going to four.
You weren't coming back 22 points in five minutes.
Right.
But, you know, Bronson fired out.
You know, Drew Holliday stepped his game up.
I mean, they came to play
and when they best play, like Curry
was missing for Golden State, Taylor
missing for Boston, but Boston
showed up. They showed up and showed out.
You got Jalen Brown
had his most efficient game
of this series. He was 9 of 17,
3 of 5
from the three-point line. He was 26 plus 28. Derek White, 9 of 17, 3 of 5 from the three-point line. He was 26
plus 28. Derek White,
9 of 16, 7 of 13,
9 of 11 from the free-throw line,
plus 26. Holiday,
plus 14. He was plus
23. You got Al Horford, who
was plus 11. And then you mentioned
Luke Cornett came off the bench.
He gave you 10, 9, and
7 blocks. And Pritchett was plus 24. He gave you 10, 9, and 7 blocks.
And Pritchett was plus 24.
He had one of the highest plus-minus.
He was 5 of 14, 17 big points.
So they got the contributions that they needed in order to keep the series alive.
We expected Mikael Bridges.
Remember the other night, Ocho, how he went off?
Remember OG, how he went off?
Carl Anthony Towns played extremely well. Cat
played okay, 5 of 11. I don't think
he was aggressive enough. I mean, he had shot 9
free throws. 5 of 11 shots is not enough.
He got 8 of them in the last 6 minutes
that didn't count.
You got to get him in the beginning of
the 34th quarter.
Put pressure on the Celtics.
Cat got to come out and put some pressure
on
KP. He heard
when Luke came in and changed the whole game.
He did. When he changed the game, blocking
shot, keeping the ball in line,
making them take tough shots, coming to the basket.
Robinson was
playing well tonight. He made a free throw.
He did. He's perfect for the free throw line. He made a free throw. He did.
He's perfect for the free throw line, Oak.
Yeah, he made like six out of seven, something like that.
Yeah, 66. So he showed up playing well.
Basically, they let him get two-point hair.
I mean, how many times you got running around on the horse?
The horse slams on you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Gordo, what did you like about what you saw?
Because I didn't think the Celtics, I didn't think the Celtics,
I was like, hell, y'all was losing to the Knicks with Jason Tatum,
and he had 42 in that bleacher.
Yeah.
And so I don't think they was going to do anything.
But Derek White and Jalen Brown set the tone early,
and then their role players came in.
Luke Cornett, like I said, he gave you 10, 9, and 7.
Pritchard did what he normally does.
And so now I got my contributors.
They're contributing.
But listen, the contributors are contributing on the offensive end.
But we need to talk about on the defensive end on what they did.
They stifled the damn offense for the Knicks.
They made everything when it came to Jalen Brunson getting himself in rhythm and creating shots and being able to pass the ball.
They suffocated my dog all goddamn game.
You see where they started him. I'm not going to cut you off all goddamn game. You see where they started him.
I'm not going to cut you off, Ocho.
You see where they started on him.
They put Jalen Brown on him.
Somebody with a little extra length.
Right.
Because normally they was going
with Holiday.
They was going with Derek White.
They put JB on him.
JB did an excellent job.
He's a little,
six foot seven,
long limb,
caused a little bit more problems.
He was seven of 17,
one of four from the three-point line.
Go ahead, Ocho.
I'm just saying, obviously, from an offensive standpoint,
Brunson couldn't get himself in rhythm.
And also, it seemed like every time they were trying to run plays,
it seemed like every shot was contested.
Every shot of running the offense, it was very difficult for them to do.
And on the other end, in transition, offensively,
the goddamn Celtics was hitting all the goddamn shots.
So when they did go up 15
and went up 20 or whatever it may
have been, it made it that much more difficult
for the Knicks to even get back into the game.
Oh, they couldn't get back into the game because
defense wasn't playing good.
You let Holliday
get back into the game and begin the
fourth quarter, hit two big threes in a row.
You bring him down to 15, 14, he had two big threes in a row. Yeah. You're running down the 15th,
14th,
he come back,
bam, bam, bam.
So it was,
it was going to be a dogfight
that you ain't going to win
this one tonight.
Because Boston was just,
they was making shots,
like you said,
and they were all playing excellent.
Excellent.
Yes, excellent.
I got a question for you,
Oak, real quick.
I want you to be honest with me.
Obviously,
your basketball acumen
and IQ is out
this world because you played the game at the highest
level. Do you think the Celtics
have a chance to come back and win
this series? I mean,
if they can keep
the game close, I mean,
the Knicks, I think when they come home, the crowd
is going to be there. They can't let the crowd
play for them. They got to come out and play, execute early, put the pressure on Boston.
Go down here.
Don't give them a chance to breathe.
And then get them in foul trouble.
Like I said, get to the free throw line.
But they're going to come and fight.
I mean, they ain't champions for nothing.
So New York got to realize that anything can happen in the course of a game.
You don't want nobody to go down.
But still, you still got to come out.
The guys got to show up.
The Knicks starting five got to show up.
Only three guys showed up tonight.
You need all five of them to play.
It's a band.
Everybody got to be on their point.
Everybody got to be able to play their instrument.
So, are you worried or are you confident?
Are you confident in the Knicks?
I'm confident.
I mean, it's two to win one, but you got to get the first.
They need to win the one game six.
Don't say, well, we made a mistake.
Don't chance it.
You don't want to go back to Boston.
No.
I mean, what Jaden Brown showed tonight, IQ, he can play a game.
Everybody was questioning, can he step it up?
Jason Taylor's not here.
He stepped it up and stepped on the Knicks.
Yeah.
He did.
The Knicks shot 40 free throw attempts, knicks were i mean the knicks shot 40
free throw attempts so they were getting to the foul line um they they didn't shoot the ball
particularly well and then they like you know what because i think what they're at three straight
trips down brunson got to the foul line and he's very crafty at drawing fouls and if it's a close
ball game that's what you have to worry about he's so great in the clutch he's probably the best
player in the clutch in the NBA
because he knows how to, he can shoot the three,
he can get to the middle, he can get to the rim,
and he knows how to make you foul it,
to put him on the free throw line to stop the clock
and so give you guys a chance to chase you down.
But you're right.
I thought what Boston did tonight.
Now, if you let them shoot 20,
if you let them shoot 45% from the three
and they shoot as many threes as they
shot, you're going to have your hands full.
To be honest, they shot in the low 40s
tonight. They shot 45%.
22 of 49.
They outscored you
by 30, though.
Yeah, well, I think
the Knicks only made
7 for 29, something.
12 of 30. It wassomething. 12 for 30.
It was what?
12 for 30.
12 for 30.
So, I mean, they beat them in that.
They beat them in this by every category.
So, they got to realize that.
They got to come out and play.
They got to eat their lunch early.
They eat another lunch and be ready.
They ain't going and be ready.

In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency.
Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir?
No.
It became known as the Iran-Contra affair.
And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second.
I'm going to ask Attorney General.
I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn.

It created a North Star for me
of how I want to be in the world, you know.
As a child, as a young person,
he gave credence to my audacity.
There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime.
Listen to Ali and me now on Audible.
Hey, hey, oh, they got a is there is there a better way? I'm just talking about for me, you know, watching, Oak. They got a, is there a better way?
I'm just talking about for me, you know, watching the game.
It looks like every offensive possession for the Knicks,
it's a struggle just to create a shot or to even get a shot.
And when they do get it, it's always contested.
Somebody is draped over somebody or they're falling back.
Like nothing is ever just clean.
Nothing is ever just smooth.
They run an offense based off of what Bronson can do.
And everybody else, you know, they get stagnated sometimes.
And I think that Towns got to go through the post.
When him being around the top of the key three-quarter line,
he crowds the whole thing up.
He needs to go on the baseline and post up
and take some of the pressure off the guys up top.
Right.
But like you said,
the guys,
they do be doing,
see like, you know,
it was a tough shot.
But the one thing
they do do on offense,
they get second side
and they huff.
They crash the boards.
They crash the boards.
And the thing is,
Ochoa, it's like with anybody.
It's like,
if you play with Luka,
you find yourself,
because he's so ball dominant
and handling the ball,
you find yourself watching him.
No, bro.
Hey, get your ass out of the way.
Create some space.
Because you watching him, and then all of a sudden he throw you the ball.
Because a lot of times they throw the guys that handle the ball a lot,
they throw you the ball with five seconds on the clock.
Nah, bro.
You go ahead and keep it.
Now you want me to try to work magic with five, six seconds on the clock,
and I got to take a bad shot and everybody looking at me like,
come on, Ocho.
Bro, you got to make that shot.
Bro, what you mean I got to make this shot?
I'm 28 feet from the basket.
Can he just do it to me with five seconds?
But this is their offense.
This is who they are.
You know, Josh Hart is not really looking for his shot,
and it seems like Mikael Bridges
doesn't look for his shot until late.
So basically, two guys that's
trying to create offense is Cat
and Brunson.
And now once he gets held to scale,
the guys start looking for the shot. But look at
how Mikael Bridges, when he looks
for his shot early, how he looks.
Look at how
the offense looks.
Well, I mean, that's the thing.
Like, when they start,
him and OG start looking for his shots early,
I think they take Towns out of his
offense. But you want to keep them going. He ain't
that guy that, you know, he needs
attempts. You know, them other guys got
more, I'm going to tenacity, more
rebounds, get back, put back.
Towns, you need to get him going.
You go out and get him going game six, because he played better.
When he get the ball early, he played better.
If he don't get it, his game gets stagnant.
So Bronson being a great point guard, the full general on the team,
he got to realize that let's get Tiles off early,
and then everything can flow.
You look at McKenna Bridges, O.G. Ananobi, and Cat.
They were 10 for 37 37 that's not good enough
nothing what's that i think og was what one for 13 one for 12 12 one for five from the three
mckay bridges 414 from the field one of three from the three cat was five of 11 cat just didn't have
a lot of attempts he got to the foul line but he just didn't have a lot of attempts. He got to the foul line, but he just didn't have
11 attempts. He needed to be somewhere
at about 17, 8,
somewhere 17 to 20. Yeah,
17 to 20. That's where he
needs to be at. But if you look, like I said,
Tim's
is a defensive coach.
You let a team shoot
53%, you let them shoot 45%
from the three.
I mean, Al Horford, 5 of 7.
Holiday, 5 of 8.
Derrick White, 9 of 16.
Brown, 9 of 17.
Cornette was 5 of 5.
Pritchett, he wasn't efficient,
but he made some big time threes.
But he needs some big shots down in the fourth quarter. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You live with that.
I mean, he had a couple of step backs and snatches.
But look, I thought the Knicks was going to end it tonight because i you don't you don't want to chance it and that's why
boston is probably kicking themselves it's like man had we taken care of business the first two
games now we just need one game to possibly close this series out but we're gonna have to beat this
team three times without jasonum. That's a tall
order. That's a tall order. Can it be done?
Yes. But I ain't
putting any money that means something to me down, but they
can do it.
You don't want to bet nothing on?
Hell no. Hey, Oak, you want to bet something?
What?
Let's bet $5,200 on the
game. Well, you got
Boston. Yeah, I got Boston.
When? Game 6?
Yeah, Game 6. What you trying to do?
You call it, I call it.
Make it light on yourself, baby.
What you doing?
Hey, I don't want his money
down with you. Okay, she ain't sharing that.
Hey, Chad,
you know I'm from Cleveland now.
Oh, I know.
With nothing but respect.
I don't want no problems.
No, no, no.
I ain't no problems.
I'm going to let it slide.
Oak going to come sleep by his buddy.
I got some guys down in Cincinnati right around the corner.
Oh, yeah.
I just throw the water on Cincinnati.
You want me to get hot?
Hey, that's one thing about Oak.
Now, he will drive. He got
a van. He got a van
on his car. That's one thing about Oak. He ain't
afraid to drive. Them both gonna be driving
Cleveland, New York.
When you pay $200,000 for a car,
I'm gonna be trying to put 200 miles on it.
He does. I'm trying
to let my dollars be my miles.
Oh, man.
He ain't lying.
Because, hey, O bought a car for me, a 760 BMW.
Man, he came to me, he's like, hey, man, I brought the car. He's at the four seasons, the old four seasons, right up there, Buckhead.
He's like, yeah, I will get it.
So he had me a bag full of money.
He said, man, keep the insurance on it until I get to where I'm going. I believe
I'm going to need it until Tuesday. I need you to keep
the insurance until Tuesday. And he just
said, man, where you going? He's like,
man, I'm going to Alabama.
Yeah.
That was good on Dave. He will put that
car on the road. Oh, let me know what you think
about this. Nick Van Exel has a
theory on the increased Achilles tears.
He said there have been an Achilles tear
throughout the years, but my thoughts on them
is that they happen more now than
I think something has to do with them
damn lows the players are wearing
nowadays. Cover them ankles up, fellas.
You think it has something to do with the
shoe that the guys
are wearing, or what do you think the problem is?
I mean, a lot
of guys getting hurt wearing low tops now.
It's cute shoes, but when you're
playing ball, you got to be tightened up.
And ball safety
is this and that. But they're doing
more running too. They're getting
up and down the court more. They're turning more.
We used to play up and down. Now they're playing
sideways and up and down.
So it ain't physical, but
you still get up and down.
You put miles on them shoes.
Let me ask you a question, though.
Did you,
did you,
do guys,
did guys tape their ankles?
Do guys tape their ankles
or do they play free?
I don't think they tape,
I think we've played
90% tape.
Now it's probably
20% tape.
Because when we play,
if you get hurt
and your ankle gets twisted
and you can't play,
they're going to find you.
They don't do that no more.
Oh, yeah.
They just find guys.
So that's why
most guys in our era,
they play with the ankle,
you know,
sore ankles or this and that
because they was tight.
But now they tape,
they don't get them taped
and they twist them
and they get them in
two or three weeks.
Yeah.
Because I got,
I don't know how,
did you tape your ankles on, Joe?
For fashion.
Not for no support.
You got,
I like to feel the ground.
I can't feel the ground
with tape on my ankles.
I need to be flexible
in a sense.
You know,
I was a Reebok at that time.
You know,
Reebok had the uniforms
and stuff, right?
Right.
I had them take,
I had them take
all the cushion
and what you call it,
the lining out of my shoe.
My cleat was nothing but a shell
and some shoe lint.
I need to feel everything.
It was like I had a track spike.
So you wanted like a soccer shoe.
Exactly.
I need to feel the floor
every time I touch the floor.
So when we played with Pat Riley, we had to take him to shoot around.
What?
And shoot around?
Yeah.
We had to take some time and shoot around.
If we lose a game by 20 points or something, we had to get, they shoot around, we had to come and take,
because we'd run into suicides and all.
Yeah, Pat Riley, he made sure you didn't shake.
Fighting, fat, everything.
Wait, suicides at the NBA level because you lose a game?
I mean, it felt like that, yeah.
I mean, that's how he, you know, yeah.
He get all the balls on them shoes.
Achilles and ACL injury this season alone.
DeJounte Murray tore his Achilles.
Dame tore his. Jason Tatum tore his. Isaiah Jackson tore his Achilles and ACL injury this season alone. DeJounte Murray tore his Achilles. Dane tore his.
Jason Tatum tore his.
Isaiah Jackson tore his Achilles.
Drew Smith ruptured his Achilles.
Kyrie, Grant Williams, DeAnthony Melton, and Maurice Wagner,
both all tore ACL and Grant Williams had meniscus damage.
But I tape that
directly to my skin.
So,
I would tape directly
to my skin.
You ain't got no pre-wrap?
Huh?
You ain't got no pre-wrap?
I ain't got no pre-wrap.
I got mold skin.
You know that thick mold skin?
You know that thick tape?
Yeah.
I had the mold skin
and then I had that
brown tape, Ocho.
You know that brown tape
they got to take the scissors
to cut.
Okay, okay. That's what I mean. That to take the scissors to cut. Okay, okay.
That's what I mean.
That's how I take my ankles.
Okay, okay.
I have no pre-wrap.
No pre-wrap.
No.
I thought that was the thin.
No, I had that brown tough-ass tape that I had to take the scissors to cut.
Oh, I know what you're talking about.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
My ankles were bad, man.
I couldn't chance it, Ocho.
Yeah.
Wow.
Now, that's in the game. My ankles were bad, man. I couldn't chance it, don't you know? Yeah. Wow. Now, I didn't take—that's in the game.
Now, I did regular tape in practice.
Right.
But for the game—
But here's the thing, O.
But you're stopping and going the game a lot, though.
Yeah, but see, the thing was is that I wore high-tops.
I wore mids, and then later in my career, I went to the low.
Oh, okay.
But see, but I didn't roll my ankle.
Like, a lot of people roll their ankle over the top.
I would turn mine in.
So people would fall over, would drag me down on show,
and the ankle would roll in.
I know what you're talking about.
Because they're pulling you from behind, too, huh?
Yes.
And they're putting their weight on you.
They're putting their weight on you.
That hip drop tackle.
Yeah, and they put their weight on you. That hip drop tackle. Yeah, they put
their weight on you.
Yes.
You get caught
right underneath.
Yep.
I think we play
guard, like point guards,
two guards by low.
But all the big guys,
they wearing high.
All right.
They wouldn't wear
no low top.
If somebody sees
a paint with low top,
they gonna knock
you in the head.
But then,
A.O., you a little older than me,
but you remember Chuck Taylors.
Guy used to play Chuck Taylors, get up and down
and have no cushion, and have nothing.
And they never twist no ankle.
Them Chuck Taylors,
remember them pro kids?
Them Chuck Taylors, they had no support.
None.
I played,
I played withk and Oak
I played
with Jerron Ennis
with Boots
in Philly
and Gilly
Gilly was there too
and they had a celebrity
basketball game
I played in
I wore
black high
black high tops
black high top chucks
some Chuck Taylors
and they
they looking at me crazy
everybody else
out there you know
with the Kyries
and the KDs
and the LeBrons
and the you know and the Johns man I dropped and the, you know, and the Jordan's.
Man, I dropped by 12 out there, man.
And the pair of Chucks,
I'm moving and everybody else,
well, you ain't got your shoes taped up?
No, because when I'm wearing
them Chuck Taylors,
I can feel the flow.
I can feel everything.
And it just, it felt so comfortable
and everybody looking at me like,
boy, you crazy.
Boy, you gonna twist something.
I said, man, I'm good.
Dr. J's the way I am.
Yeah.
Dr. J's back in the days.
And then they came out with the cons
because, you know,
when Dr. J,
everybody wore the cons.
Ain't nobody wore,
in the early 80s,
ain't nobody wore,
in the 70s and 80s,
ain't nobody wore Nike.
Nike didn't take off
until Jordan got there.
Everybody wore the cons.
The Dr. J cons,
they wore the Magic Johnson weapons. They wore the Magic Johnson weapons.
They wore the Larry Bird weapon.
What you mean weapon?
What brand is it?
That's what they call the Converse.
That's what Magic and Birds were called.
And the Dr. J cons.
They were heavy, but that's what everybody wore.
There were a few guys that wore Iceman, Moses Malone,
had Nike contracts.
Nike, yeah.
But the Converse was the shoe.
The only person I remember wearing Adidas, correct me if I'm wrong, was Kareem.
Kareem had the top-tail Adidas.
He was the only guy that I saw with Adidas.
Everybody else normally had Converse, and there were a few guys sprinkled in there
that had on Nikes.
Hey, Oak, did they wear
Pony back in the days? Pony had
basketball shoes or no? Pony, yeah.
Spud Webb wore ponies. Yeah, it's a pair of
ponies. Spud Webb
and Robert Parrish wore ponies.
Okay. Okay. I remember I
had a pair of Pony cleats, man, as a little kid,
man. I had Pony cleats, too.
Pony was
big back then.
Pony was big back then. They pony was big back then they were they were but you know back then oh with uh when i was like in middle school or high school the
posters so you had the ice man sitting on the block yeah the poster was the big was was huge
back then i had a bunch of posts you know i had a bunch of posts with bird. I had a bunch of posters.
I had a bunch of posters with Bird, and I had a bunch of posters with everybody else.
They'd probably be worth something now.
But back then, you wasn't even thinking.
You wasn't even thinking about, man, I think it'll be worth something.
My grandma was like, boy, you need to throw that ish in the trash.
Junk it up my house.
All right, it's time to pocket watch for just a second.
Michael Porter Jr., Shea Gilgis make the same amount of money.
$35,859,950 this year.
Did you hear what you just said?
They make the same amount of money.
This year.
And the key words you just said at the end.
This year.
This year.
That's it.
Because SAG can get $350,000 next year. That's it. Because SAG can get
350 next year.
Yep. And he
fired his agent, so he's like,
y'all not going to get
4% when they're going to give me the max
anyway. If I cut you out, I'll keep that
for myself.
Aoki worth every penny.
Yeah, oh yeah. Worth every
penny, man. Hey, you know who you play like too, Unc?
He's so smooth.
Right, right.
Yeah, he's so smooth, like no irky-jerky movements.
You know what I mean?
Just everything just flow like water the way you play.
I know the Clippers probably wish they still had him.
Well, if you're to believe what Doc said,
Doc said that he went to Kawhi
and said, you need to give this guy a chance.
Kawhi wanted somebody that was already proven,
which was Paul George.
So that's why they moved him to OKC.
They traded him and Golinari
and all those first round picks
and those pick swaps because you got to realize,
Shea was only in his first or second, maybe his first or second year.
Yeah, second year, yeah.
So now I want to get a – it's the same thing.
When LeBron got to Cleveland, he's like, oh, no.
He's like, no, I don't want Andrew Wiggins.
Go get Kevin Lowe.
Wiggins, yeah.
Go get Kevin Lowe.
But Wiggins ain't got way.
No, he ain't Shea.
They both from Canada, but he ain't Shea they both from Canada but he ain't Shea
he ain't Shea
hold on
hold on
Barry's from Canada too
he ain't Shea
oh yeah
they got a lot of guys
you know you think about it
Dylan Brooks
Nim Hard
Murray
Shea
Powell
they got
Barry Joe the kid played for what's the name
too the point guard uh joseph yeah isaiah joe no no he played he's been around the league about 12
years okay yeah yeah yeah i know you're talking about uh i know what matter of fact started from
miami i think okay yeah but uh you see what they trying to do is for the All-Star, right?
Yeah, they're going to try to make it the U.S. against the world.
Man, they're going to kill the U.S.
Hey.
Oh, they got the best players, when you
think about it. They got
Giannis. They got Luka. They got
Shea.
Saniton.
Yeah, Whippy.
But you know why they're doing that?
Luka.
He'd be coming off the bed.
Hey, Oak.
That's a good thing, too.
Now you understand how the viewership
had declined when it comes to the All-Star game.
Now you want to make it interesting?
You want people to watch?
Shoot, the USA versus the world.
That's right.
I don't want to see it.
All they're doing is shooting threes.
I don't want to see that.
I don't want to see no 200 to 180.
Nope, nope, nope.
And it's about where it's at.
No.
I think they might get a little more traction out of that.
I do too.
Yeah, because the U.S. guys and the European guys,
the European guys are definitely going to play harder. The U.S. guys might the European guys, the European guys are definitely going to play harder.
The U.S. guys might, you might have to hear them in the head a couple of times,
like, oh, wow, they really coming at us.
So they might have to wake us up and get us going.
First of all, Yoki just already said the All-Star game doesn't suit his fancy.
But Giannis, Giannis trying to score 60.
Giannis going to the basket all the time
he coming to play
he coming
you exactly right
you know what that reminds me of
that reminds me
when Adrian Peters
used to make the Pro Bowl
and they think
he finna go out there
and play in lollygag
man Adrian Peters
be full speed in Hawaii
full speed Hey, Bean. Oh, Bean.
