Boost Mobile is now a legit nationwide 5G network. So I have to take a break from all the jokes here for just a second and put my serious voice on, because I would never ever joke about a 5G network that has invested billions in building 5G towers across the country. Not even once. Not even if Mr. Boost Mobile himself asked me to. There's nothing funny about it.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Boost Mobile is now a legit nationwide 5G network and also provides coverage across 99% of America. Seriously, visit BoostMobile.com or your nearest Boost Mobile store location to learn more. Boost Mobile network together with our roaming partners covers 99% of the U.S. population. 5G speed not available in all areas. Were not kicked out of the Grammys despite early reports. As nominee Kanye walked the red carpet and posed with Bianca. The two then got into their car and left. But they
Starting point is 00:03:49 turned heads with their rival with Bianca leaving little to the imagination by going completely naked underneath a sheer mini dress. I mean, it's Kanye. This is expected.
Starting point is 00:04:10 It's expected. What does he do? How do I make a splash? How do I take advantage of this moment? You Kanye! It's the Grammys. What do I do? I use my muse to make my statement.
Starting point is 00:04:27 She made the statement. We've all seen ass and tits before. Yeah, but I ain't really trying to see it out in public. Not an event like that, Ocho. That's the whole point where I just said to make the statement. How do you make the statement
Starting point is 00:04:42 and grab the attention? How do you grab the headlines? You do exactly what they did. And it worked. She got some nice... Never mind. No, she don't. Kendrick Lamar won Grammy for Record of the Year
Starting point is 00:04:59 and then later won another Grammy for Song of the Year Not Like Us, accepting an award from Diana Ross. This is what it's about, man, because at the end of the day, nothing is more powerful than rap music. I don't care what it is. We're our culture, and it's always going to stay here
Starting point is 00:05:13 and live forever. That's loud. Beyonce won Grammy for Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter. Hold on. This is her first album of the Year for Cowboy Carter. Hold on. This is her first album of the year, isn't it? I think it is. Because normally Taylor Swift, I think has won four,
Starting point is 00:05:33 has beaten her out a couple of times. I think she's got all these Grammys, but I think Cowboy Carter is her first album of the year. Hold on. How she win Grammy for Album of the Year and she ain't get no Country Music Award? That's some boo, Jack. Hold up. How she win Grammy for album of the year and she ain't get no country music award? That's some bull, Jack. Ocho.
Starting point is 00:05:50 How, Ocho? How am I the MVP of the league and I don't make the Pro Bowl? I don't know, but I know one thing. You need to save your money up because we going on tour. Tour for what?
Starting point is 00:06:08 Beyonce. Man, please. Wait, what you talking about? She going to announce the tour? Yeah, I know she did. Oh, listen, I'm going to call. I'm going to make the call. We're going to fly where she is
Starting point is 00:06:22 and we're going to sit down and we're going to talk to B. Yeah. What happened? Nightcap featuring Beyonce. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:39 I got you. She won. Hold on. She won. She won Grammy of Album she won. So she won, she won a Grammy album of the year for Cowboy Carter. Did she win anything?
Starting point is 00:06:49 She won country album too, right? Yeah. Yeah, country album of the year. Well, congratulations, Beyonce.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Look, she's the most, if I'm not mistaken, I think she's the most if I'm not mistaken I think she's the most decorated singer in Grammy history I don't think anybody has more than she does and she finally has an album
Starting point is 00:07:17 of the year if I'm not mistaken right album of the year right okay I like that congrats Beyonce well done Alicia Keys
Starting point is 00:07:38 says DEI is not a threat it's a gift and powerful speech she was presented with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2025 Grammys Queen Latifah presented Alicia not a threat. It's a gift and powerful speech. She was presented with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2025 Grammys. Queen Latifah presented Alicia with the honor, calling her a global force. In her acceptance speech, she gave a shout out to female musicians like Missy Elliott, Linda Perry, and more, saying, I always had to fight for a certain level of respect as a songwriter, composer, and especially a producer. It's strange that we think women
Starting point is 00:08:06 as producers like Quincy. We don't think of women as producers like Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre, Swizzy, her husband Swizzy, but female producers have always powered the industry. The Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier allegedly manipulated
Starting point is 00:08:22 his performance in 2023 as part of an illegal sports betting scheme. Alarms were raised after suspicious wagers were placed on Rozier in March of 2023, game between the Charlotte Hornets and the New Orleans Pelicans. The NBA said alarms were raised after unusual high number of wagers were placed on rogier to go under statistical benchmarks the firm tasked with monitoring gambling activities u.s integrity alerted the nba and sportsbook rogier left with a sore right foot after having scored only five points the nba did its own internal investigation and found no wrongdoings but the feds are now looking into the matter.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Well, if the NBA didn't find any wrongdoings, what are the feds going to do? Because if anything, if anybody could be any more thorough than checking players and anything gambling related, wouldn't it be the NBA? And not the feds? You think I want to find something that's going on with my player and manipulating the games?
Starting point is 00:09:25 That's what I want. All right. You're right. Think about Tim Donaghy. He was the feds. I can't let – no. Hell no. I see you going with it.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I see you going with it. But listen, protecting the shield, the NBA shield. But you're going to let the player skate on by without showing, laying down a law? Letting other players know, listen, this is something that we're not going to tolerate. We're not having this. It's going to look even worse if the FBI finds something. When you've already done your due diligence and your research to see if he did anything wrong. I'm hoping the FBI don't snoop.
Starting point is 00:10:08 I'm hoping the FBI says, okay, they did their investigation. Let's let it lie. Okay, okay, okay. Okay. Now what I'm hoping, I don't want to, Ocho, they already say,
Starting point is 00:10:19 what do fans think? The script is in. Man, these games read. Right. Oh. You really want that, Ocho? Right, right, right. What I don't understand with these guys
Starting point is 00:10:30 and this is an allegation. Guys are making so much money, Ocho. Why would you even run the risk? The risk is just too great. That's why I don't get it. A guy that's making
Starting point is 00:10:49 19, somewhere between 19 and 25 million dollars. Right. For a couple of dollars for the homies or somebody, you willing to risk that and your good name and your reputation? Yeah. And they take you, I don't know, dude, I don't know if they take people to jail.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Maybe that's a... I don't know. Right. Really? Hey, everybody's mindset is different. And just the thought of it, thinking, you know what, I can get away with this. I can make a little extra cash on the side.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Not that you would need it. Not that you would need it as an NBA player. You know? But, hey. I ain't trying to... Look, I make X amount of dollars. I ain't trying to flip 10. If I get 10 M's, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:11:33 I ain't trying to flip that. I'm going to take my little 5 to 7% and I'm going to keep it moving. That's a crazy mentality. Man, I got 10 M's. I'm going to flip that thing and make that thing 20. Huh? Good luck with that. Do you understand what you got to potentially do?
Starting point is 00:11:50 Yeah. The risk is too great. Too great. It says Rozier has made 134 M's in his career. 134? 134.
Starting point is 00:12:09 That's a lot there, bro. Yes! That's a whole heap of change. We talked about this, Ocho. When you make that kind of money, you get access that the average people can't get. Now you get an opportunity to put a little fun together.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Hey, somebody come in, a little entry level. They were, hey, boom, boom. And now you hit a lick with an Uber. You hit a lick with this company. You hit a lick with that company. Now you 10X, 15X, 20X your money on 200,000. Look at Kobe. Body armor.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Eight mil. Clipped it. Sold a Coca- armor, eight mil, flipped it, sold a Coca-Cola, 400 mil. James Harden said, hey, Kobe talked him into it. He put a little something in there, boom. 50 cent, took stock, vitamin water, got sold, 100 mil. Do it like that, God. Come on, God, y'all got too much money.
Starting point is 00:13:05 I hope this isn't true. I really do. I hope this is just an allegation. And when the FBI do their due diligence, they say, nah, there was nothing. There was nothing. He really had a sore foot. Yada, yada, yada.
Starting point is 00:13:17 But just like they called Michael Porter Jr., brother, manipulated the thing, he... Lord, have mercy. Yeah, he was terrific. Woo! We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen.
Starting point is 00:14:53 What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content. The term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide and hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Starting point is 00:15:37 In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General. I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra,
Starting point is 00:16:07 you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:16:35 or wherever you get your podcasts. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey, Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life

Starting point is 00:18:15 Oh, yeah. Hey, let me tell you something. On script, Howard Ojo. Hey, before we even start, man, this is what I've been doing. And I'm happy we haven't been doing it because I've been on my flights having to work. I've been taking my thesaurus with me. Yo, you've been taking it with you all, Joe? You read it. My thesaurus
Starting point is 00:18:32 with me. Yeah, that book. Yeah. I got it. I got it. I talk too goddamn fast, man. How do I... I need to take some type of classes or something. Slow down.
Starting point is 00:18:47 I be talking so fast, I can't even get the goddamn words out. Jesus. Slow down. It's the same thing. I do the same thing. I get excited. If I'm just having a regular conversation, my voice is very monotone, very baritone. When I get excited, I get
Starting point is 00:19:04 excited, baby. Yeah, yeah, yeah so all right ocho your first word mnemonic mnemonic yes mnemonic mnemonic mnemonic. I'm taking a N-A-M-N-A-M-O-N-I-C. Mnemonic. M-N-E-O-N-I-C. Mnemonic. Wait a minute. Look who called. Who that? Who that? I can't see it.

Starting point is 00:20:00 Yeah. Pterodactyl. Pterodactyl. Oh, hell no. Hey, come on. I know you got this with Ochoa. I just Ochoa. Just Ochoa.
Starting point is 00:20:09 I said, Ash, I bet $5 to a bucket of cow manure. Ochoa will get pterodactyl. Listen, pterodactyl is a good word. I saw Jurassic Park. Yeah. I saw Jurassic Park. I even had the pterodactyl from He-Man. There was a pterodactyl in He-Man. Yes. That's a crazy word. But here we go. You ready? Yep. Pterodactyl from He-Man. There was a pterodactyl in He-Man.

Starting point is 00:21:06 phlegm a big secretion of mucus it's like hot to it you know what's funny I bet this is one of those words where the first word I'm thinking phlegm starts like
Starting point is 00:21:24 F-I-F-L and I bet it's probably something else in the front of it. It's probably silent, huh? Phlegm. Okay, I appreciate that. Phlegm. P-H-L-I-M.
Starting point is 00:21:42 I'm wrong? P-H-L-E-M. I'm wrong? P-H-L-E-G-M. Phlegm. I'm not doing good tonight. You're not doing good, Ocho, but there's still hope. I'm not doing good tonight. I don't think we can let too much time go past. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:03 So you need Spello Seco at least twice a week. Yeah, yeah, because this ain't it. It's not given. A-Palm. Who? A-Palm. A-Palm.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Now, when I sounded out A-Palm. Now, when I sound it out, a palm. Now, you know, the English language and the way things are spelled can be tricky. Now, the way I'm sounding it out, a palm. A-P-A-L-M. Now, am I wrong?
Starting point is 00:22:42 If I'm wrong? A-P-L-O-M-B. See? See that? Why? Why they got to be so exotic? Why not just spell it how it sounds, man? But you got this one, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:22:55 This one's you. Resuscitate. Resuscitate. Resuscitate. Resuscitate. After scoring a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars, I had to resuscitate the football. Yes. Recess.

Starting point is 00:24:30 Yeah, you know they banned me from Harvard. Well, you better try Yale, LeBron. Yeah, you know I lied on my transcripts. Yeah, we figured that. And President Trump just did away with DEI.
Starting point is 00:24:50 So, we're stuck. Hey, I have a question. Listen, I'm glad you said that. Now, you know your little nephew. I don't be too much into politics now. And I know we got to get the talk going on. But can you please chat? Excuse me for a minute, chat. I need this little lesson real quick.
Starting point is 00:25:08 DEI. I need a little background. What's up? What you need? What's up? I don't know what DEI is. Huh? You know what DEI is. You don't mean
Starting point is 00:25:26 diversity, equity, and inclusion. Okay. I know what that is. Go ahead. So he did away with that in general. Yeah, he's asking a lot of corporations that added it.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Some are taking it out out some are leaving it in some was more than happy to take it out damn so they took the hoods off right in front of us huh hey they like look alright
Starting point is 00:26:01 it is what it is Ocho alright Ocho time That's funny. All right, Ocho. Time for retribution. Now it's time for Dunk on Unk. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Here we go. Here we go, chat. Here we go, chat. Let me see if I can get Unk to go. Hold on. Five. I feel a little pet about myself. See that forearm, Ocho?
Starting point is 00:26:24 You see that forearm, Ocho You see that forearm mocho? That's not good forearm. Hey, I need to see you. I'm going to send you the lethal shooter because that ain't it. Your elbow wrong. The forearm is wrong. The wrist is all off. Uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Uh-uh. You see the wrist ain't out here like this here. That's that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, you can't shoot. Here we go. Let me see you make this shot right here.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Here we go. Which city hosted the coldest Super Bowl in 1972? What city hosted the coldest Super Bowl in 1972? Ooh-wee. Yeah. Yeah. 1972. Oh, yeah. 1972.
Starting point is 00:27:10 I want to smoke in this room so bad. I ain't going to do it, though. 1972. Oh, yeah. I don't know. Tulane Stadium. I don't know. You think you sleep.
Starting point is 00:27:35 So you're going to look at the chat and then just say Tulane Stadium out of nowhere. Oh, don't do me like this. Oh, come on, man. Come on. Now you now you didn't know the answer. You sat back, put your hand on your chin, looked at the chat, and then said Tulane Stadium. I ain't got no chat. Ocho, I ain't got no chat.
Starting point is 00:27:56 How you don't got no chat? You always got to chat up. You just turned it off. Okay. come on. I'm going to let you have that one. Don't worry about it. I'm going to let you have that one. You ready?
Starting point is 00:28:10 Okay, yes. Question number two. Hey, people in the chat, man, please don't write the answer. Don't write the answer. Matter of fact, if you write the answer... They didn't know it. Oh, they know it.
Starting point is 00:28:18 All they got to do is Google. If you write the answer, I'm going to block you. They don't. Chad, if you write the answer, I'm going to block you, okay? No, I don't want to do you like that because I love you. I love every last one of you. Question number two.
Starting point is 00:28:30 Which game was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime? Which game was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime? Ah, let me see was it played in Houston was it a comeback Atlanta huh you asking me a question
Starting point is 00:28:57 I'm asking you was it played in Houston is it the Falcons and the New England Patriots the question was Houston, is it the Falcons and the New England Patriots? The question was, which game was the first Super Bowl? The Patriots and
Starting point is 00:29:16 the Falcons. Okay, okay. You got that. You got that. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Hit the usher on him. Okay, okay, okay, okay. I see you, little Jabberwocky. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Yeah, I hit that usher. You know, I usher hit that bank, usher be on that bank. Okay, here we go, here we go, here we go, here we go here we go here we go here we go in super bowl history which team's 45 point margin of victory stands at the largest ever san francisco 49ers defeated the denver broncos and this in in New Orleans by the score of 55 to 10. That is the largest Super Bowl margin of victory. Now the Cowboys were about to do break that until Leon Lett got stripped of the football at the goal line. So my answer is the San Francisco 49ers 55-10 victory over
Starting point is 00:30:28 the Denver Broncos. You know what? We shouldn't have done that question because you know the history of the Broncos and them getting beat. Okay. You see how long I got the cord? It plugged in from across the hall. I'm logged out.
Starting point is 00:30:46 I'm logged out, don't y'all. I'm long gone. I'm having a bad night. Bad night. Listen, I'm still – Y'all see the same thing. You know what? I might have went 0-5 and you might be 3-0,
Starting point is 00:31:01 but I'm in the Bahamas, so I'm still feeling good. I'm all right. I'm on vacation. All right. Here we go. Which running back has caught the most passes in a single Super Bowl? What running back has caught the most passes in a Super Bowl? Let me see. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's 14.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Very small running back. Could have easily been the MVP. I think it's 14. Very small running back. Could have easily been the MVP. I think it's James White. Hey, you know what? Somebody briefed you on this shit already, man. Somebody briefed you on this. Y'all want me to put the cord up? Because I'm long gone right now.
Starting point is 00:31:39 Nah. I'm long gone right now. Hey, Chad, something ain't right, Chad. Something ain't right. Chad! Chad! Hey, listen. something ain't right, Chad. Something ain't right. Chad! Chad! I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but you were briefed on these questions ahead of time, but there's no
Starting point is 00:31:52 way you know something's not. As a matter of fact, I was not briefed. I was asleep ahead of time. Okay, here we go. If you get this one, which receiver has caught the most passes in a single Super Bowl? Which receiver has caught the most passes in a single Super Bowl?
Starting point is 00:32:16 Demarius Thomas. That is absolutely wrong. We finally got him. We finally got him. We stumped the swab. The answer you were looking for is Deion Brandt, Super Bowl 39. He had 11 catches. Check Deion.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Take Demarius Thomas' Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks. How many passes did he call? I was just – tell Ocho there. Tell Ocho. Ocho, what? Ah! Oh, my goodness. Jose!
Starting point is 00:32:51 Ah! He cheating, man. He cheating. He cheating. Okay. I keep telling you. You own one tonight, boy. You own one tonight.
Starting point is 00:33:03 You know what I mean? Ocho, they call me Shugal. Shannon Shugal Sharp. You got Google and you got Shugal. Who you think Google call when they want to know something? Me. Hey, you own one tonight. I'm going to give you that. I'm going to give you that.
Starting point is 00:33:15 I'm going to give you that. I'm having an off night. And that's okay. Oh, Shugal Sharp. I go to the crib. Hey, Shugal. Uh- up. I go to the crib. Hey, Shugle. Uh-huh. Who do you think Google?
Starting point is 00:33:30 Google. I'll be up all night. That's why I can't get no sleep because people are typing in and I'm responding. That's me. Here we go. Oh, my bad. Ash, for context, Demarius Thomas against the Seattle Seahawks caught 13 passes.
Starting point is 00:33:52 That is the most passes caught in a Super Bowl. Did they win that game? No, they did not win that game. Okay. They got blown out that game. Red. You want to give me another? You want me to give you a bonus? You want to get this bonus? The last one.
Starting point is 00:34:13 He don't want me to go undefeated, y'all. Here we go. Prize to Jamar Chase, who was the last wide receiver to win the Triple Crown and not make it to the playoffs. Sterling Sharp in 1992. Okay, you got it. You got it. You got it.
Starting point is 00:34:30 I just threw that in just to see if I was right now. I'll be giving. Oh, Joe, they call me Shugo. You think I'm lying? I just try to see if I can get you to slip up real quick. Okay. Hey, you had a good night tonight. You had a good run.
Starting point is 00:34:48 You know, I'm... Hey, I'm going to give you a hand. Let me give you a hand. No, you was on point. You was on point. They called me Shugal. Except the chat gave you that first answer, though. That Tulane, they gave you the first answer.
Starting point is 00:35:01 The chat ain't know. Oh, Joe. Logan Paul says someone jacked his watches worth over $300,000, and he's on the hunt for whoever jacked his expensive watches from the luggage during a recent trip. He believes someone from TSA agents with sticky fingers are behind it. He told his brother Jake he no longer in possession of the $50,000 Audemars Piguet he gifted him for Christmas.
Starting point is 00:35:24 It got stolen at the airport. I have reasons to believe someone opened my bag during TSA and nabbed it. What you think, Ocho? That's probably what happened. That's probably what happened. And the thing about it, when I think about the airport, I think about TSA.
Starting point is 00:35:41 If you're going through, I would hope, you know, you didn't check the baggage downstairs. Yeah, yeah, with TSA, yeah, I'm thinking like, you know, carry on. They have cameras everywhere. They have cameras everywhere, especially when you're going through TSA, so you can see if someone
Starting point is 00:35:57 actually went in there, so he needs to go back and ask the airport for the footage, you know, and see and see who got his goddamn watch. Wow. That's crazy, though. Yeah, man. You gotta be careful, Ocho. You really gotta
Starting point is 00:36:15 be careful. I mean, man, look here. Like you always say, there's God forsaken economy and people looking for the quick lick. They're trying to hit a lick and keep it moving. I just hate that. Yeah, difficult, Ocho. People just got to stop thinking that certain jobs are beneath them.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Man, I ain't working no fast food. You crazy? Man, I ain't doing no construction. That You crazy? Man, I ain't doing no construction. That hard ass work is hot. It's cold. Bro, it's a job. Unfortunately, I'm sorry. All the CEO positions are filled. Unfortunately, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:36:58 All the CMOs and CFOs and all the PPs and all those execs, they're filled. You're probably going to have to start your way at the bottom and work your way to the top. This is the thing about it too. Also, when I think about it too, Uncle, everybody, especially in today's era,
Starting point is 00:37:11 they want instant gratification, you know? They want to take all the shortcuts. They want instant success. They want fast money. Everybody want to be a boss, but nobody want to put the work in. Nobody want to put the work in and do the work that it takes to become actually that.
Starting point is 00:37:28 You notice, don't you? You notice everybody want to be a boss, but don't nobody want to be told what to do? They want to tell somebody what to do, but can't nobody tell them ish. Huh. So how does that work? At some point in time, everybody had to be told something.
Starting point is 00:37:49 What to do, how to do it, when to do it. You want to skip that step and go straight to the step where you telling everybody, you bossing everybody. I'm a boss. Yeah. everybody. I'm a boss. Man. The one thing I can honestly say to anybody that I've ever worked for can tell you I ain't never had a problem with hard work.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Never. I ain't got no problem with hard work either because I ain't got where I need to get to now. I'm exploring the treatment options that I can take. Okay. Yeah, just put it up on your tongue. It's going to dissolve.
Starting point is 00:38:34 It's going to dissolve in about 10 minutes. Five minutes after that, good to go. Okay, here we go. Here we go. You can even eat. You can eat if you want to. They don't even know. I like mine on an empty stomach
Starting point is 00:38:53 because I want that blood to be used for one thing. Not digesting. You know what I'm saying, Ocho? That's just me. I mean, you do however you want to do, but I'm just telling you about me. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen.
Starting point is 00:40:31 What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space
Starting point is 00:40:57 and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No.
Starting point is 00:41:29 It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafak, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. Muhammad Ali was never afraid to express himself loudly and boldly and stays true to form in Ali and Me, an eight-part Audible original. Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction. Those convictions never wavered. Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey, Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson,
Starting point is 00:43:07 Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas. It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know. As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity. There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible. I paid $22.47 for a pressure washer.
Starting point is 00:43:41 Pressure washer. And this is what I got. Franklin says, it's a screw. I mean, you know what? I wonder how something like that happens. Right? Because when I think about AliExpress, I haven't ordered, you know, much of anything off of AliExpress.
Starting point is 00:43:56 But... And I won't be. How do you order something, pay full price for it, and they send you a picture of said item that you purchased. Yeah, but I don't know if you're going to really expect... Did you really expect to pay $22 for a drill?
Starting point is 00:44:14 How much did he pay for the drill? I thought... I don't know what a drill costs. I don't know what a drill costs. I know it don't cost no damn $22. That don't even sound right. It costs more than that, right? It has to. I know it don't cost no damn $22. That don't even sound right. It costs more than that, right? It has to. I don't do construction.
Starting point is 00:44:30 I ain't drilling. $149. Between $149 and $200. He got got. I knew it wasn't going to be no $22. I didn't tell you that. I don't even do no construction.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Yeah, I don't know what Ace Hardware or Lowe's or Home Depot or somewhere. Right down the street. Yeah. You know, because things like that, stuff I can like, okay, let me see. Let me see what I... Is what I'm purchasing, is it equipped to do the job that I'm going to need it to do?
Starting point is 00:45:02 So that's probably something you probably need to see up close and personal. But yeah, bro, they got you. Matter of fact, speaking of, are you a handyman? Are you like Tim from what's the show? Two Time Tim. Can you build stuff
Starting point is 00:45:17 and... No. No. Okay. I was just curious. You can't even. Hey, I took woodshop in high school. I took woodshop. I. Okay. I was just curious. You can't even. Hey, Unc, I took woodshop in high school. I took woodshop. I did too. I can put together an entire bed and bed frame with wood. All I need is some nails in it.
Starting point is 00:45:36 I can break an entire bed and bed frame. I can put it together. I can do that because I lay heavy. I can take it apart. Now, if you need somebody to take it apart, you call your boy. I'll do that for you. You put it back together, but I'll take it apart for you. No, no, no. But I took, no, no. I don't have,
Starting point is 00:45:55 I'm not, God gave me, the ability that God gave me was to play sports. That's what I can do. You give me a football, a basketball, a baseball or something like's what I can do. You give me a football or basketball or baseball or something like that, I can do that. But handy, I can't do.
Starting point is 00:46:11 I can't put if together. I'm paying somebody to do that. That's why I got a full-time handy guy that comes over. You got a handy guy. Yeah. Okay. For sure.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Yeah, anything that breaks or needs to be put together, I call him. handy guy. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So. Yeah. Anything that breaks or needs to be put together. So what happened? What happened if you driving and you got a flat tire? That's what I got roadside
Starting point is 00:46:35 assistance for. So you can't change the tire. I can change it. But I ain't paying the kind of money I'm paying for roadside assistance. I'm going to put that
Starting point is 00:46:44 right there. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. I'm just for roadside assistance. I'm going to put that right there. Okay, okay, okay. I'm just curious. The fact that you can do it. Yeah, I can change the tire. Yeah. Some of this stuff that they got together, I had this guy, I bought a concept bike
Starting point is 00:46:59 that you see a lot of times in these CrossFit gyms. Man, he laid out the instructions. Man, I looked at that and went back in the house. I said, hey, you need some water? Yeah. Next thing I know, like 20 minutes, he run the doorbell.
Starting point is 00:47:20 He was done? I said, man, you put it together? Yeah, I said. You put that whole thing together? He's like, yeah. He said, man, you put it together? Yeah, I said. You put that whole thing together? He's like, yeah. He said, you want to test it out? Man, some people have a knack for that. You look at all the directions.
Starting point is 00:47:33 They do. You look at all them directions. You look at all them nails and screws. They be like, man, hell nah. But you know what? The same way you look at stuff like that, if you was to give them a playbook, they'd be the same way. Like, what the hell is this?
Starting point is 00:47:46 Exactly. Exactly. Hey, I'm good at, I'm great at what I'm good at. Right. But what I'm not, I don't put any time. Man, you need to learn.
Starting point is 00:47:58 No, I don't. I'm too old. I'm not trying to learn that. That doesn't interest me. In order for me to learn something, it really needs to interest me. You got to have a passion for it. Putting stuff together, that don't interest
Starting point is 00:48:12 me. Learning how to cook, that doesn't interest me. Now, look, you either can pay something, you either do things, Ocho, you either pay somebody to do it because you can or because you can't. I can't do it, so I pay somebody to do it.
Starting point is 00:48:30 I don't want to do it, so I pay somebody to do it. Now, I'm not taking a survey, but studies at Harvard show and say that women prefer a man that is handy and that can cook over one that can pay for the services and have someone else do it. What are your thoughts on that? Well, I ain't going to find no woman that wants somebody that can cook because I can't. I ain't going to try to learn either. I mean, look, if a woman can cook, yeah, sure, that's great. But that's not a deal breaker for me that she can't. But no, I'm saying women wanting a man that knows
Starting point is 00:49:06 how to cook as opposed to having a man that can afford to have a chef they out there I wish it well I don't know to tell you I'll be honest I ain't gonna stand in the way I can't I'm not trying to learn how to cook no oxtails
Starting point is 00:49:23 and no stuff like that I'm not trying to learn how to cook no fried chicken and all that other stuff i'm not i ain't no sense in me lying to you i ain't gonna hold you that ain't that ain't that ain't me so if you're looking for somebody that can give you that can cook for you and hey baby i'm gonna make brunch for us and i'm gonna make some eggs benedicts and i'm gonna make pancakes or i'm gonna make waffles and stuff like that bless his heart y'all deserve to be together that's what you want and that's what he can do but that ain't me a woman is crying after revealing to her husband she never had an emergency savings account after she told him she did her husband thought thank goodness we have
Starting point is 00:49:59 that money you saved in your account and now the woman. Ocho, if the money was never there, is this grounds to end the relationship? Yes, it's grounds to end the relationship because obviously, I'm assuming he must have been giving her money, right, to put away into the savings account. So where's the money going? Obviously, she's using the money for something.
Starting point is 00:50:18 And if they live together, and that's the wife, and he doesn't see her buying anything, the money got to be going somewhere. So not only is it grounds for whatever he needs and sees fit in doing after there is no saving account, something ain't right. And you know what also you got to be careful too, most of the time women have a savings account or a private account
Starting point is 00:50:38 and they continue to save up and save up and save up and save up as an exit strategy as well. Yeah. I think I read a study the other day, Ocho, that the divorces, that 70% of the divorces are filed by women. You know, they don't file them until there's a plan B in place. Oh, no, no. Women are not going to do anything like that. Women are a lot more radical. They're planned. They're like, no. Women are not going to do anything like that. Women are a lot more radical.
Starting point is 00:51:05 They're playing. They're like, okay. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Let me make sure I got a place to go. They know where they're going to go. They don't start an order.
Starting point is 00:51:16 They don't start an order off Wayfair. They got the little furniture coming that you don't know about. They got a little stash. They've been stashing. They've been paying the bill, but they've been popping a little bit. Hey, they done told their mom. They done told their sister. They done told their homegirl.
Starting point is 00:51:33 That's right. Listen, you always got to stay two steps ahead. Any sign of anything that's out of character or that's not normal and it raises your antennas, then you just have to understand you have to move accordingly and be prepared for anything at that point.
Starting point is 00:51:48 Anything at that point. Well, I mean, you got your account. She got her account. Do y'all have a joint account? Wait, wait, wait. If you have a joint account, it has to be a joint account that you
Starting point is 00:52:05 guys start and you put money in together. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. And I don't know what's in your account. You don't know what's in my account. We know what's in this one.
Starting point is 00:52:23 We pay bills. We pay bills out of this account. I like that. Now, that's structure and discipline. If you can find someone like that where you guys both are doing well in your respective fields and whatever it is you do and having that joint account
Starting point is 00:52:39 and having that structure of starting off, let's say, as a couple, just randomly, I'm just throwing a number out there. We put $5,000 in, you know, together. We start off with $10,000. And then every time we get paid,
Starting point is 00:52:51 we put a certain amount in and we continue to do that over time. Yeah, right. Man, you know what that would be looking like? You know, after a year and some time? Mm-hmm. Man. Man.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Yeah. Everybody be like, man, you gonna let, you know, your account, you gonna put your wife on your account? Are you high? Bro. Wait, if you get, hold on, if you married,
Starting point is 00:53:20 you wouldn't put your wife on your account? You talking about where the money is? Like real money? if you married you wouldn't put your wife in your account you talking about what the money is like real money man please people must be thinking I was a defu like I said
Starting point is 00:53:35 I got an account you got an account we got a joint account now are they parameters I update my every two years because the money grows account. Now, are they parameters? I update my, uh, every two years because the money grows.
Starting point is 00:53:50 And so every two years, I update it. Okay? This, this. Oh, you acting a fool? You get a little less. I'm sorry. You get a little less. Oh, yeah. I'll update it. Yes, yes. The estate? Absolutely. Every two years. And she will be taken oh yeah I'll update it yes yes the estate absolutely
Starting point is 00:54:05 every two years and she will be taken care of and guess what it's a neutral party I ain't my sister my brother ain't none of them cause money do funny things and I won't hey well I'm gone to keep people accountable hey this is what you get
Starting point is 00:54:21 also stipulations if you contest anything guess what you lose half of what you get. Also, stipulations. If you contest anything, guess what? You lose half of what you got. Tread carefully. Be thankful. My brother loved me. My dad loved me. My homeboy, hey, my homeboy looked out.
Starting point is 00:54:39 Then, hey, I got set up for certain charities. Savannah State gets a portion. This gets a portion. But, oh, absolutely. No. I worked too hard to have. Boy, look at. Boy, you talking about crashing out.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Whew. Man. Would I? I don't play by that. But she will be taken care of. Now, if she choose to go back to work. That's a hurt. Right.
Starting point is 00:55:03 But she'll have enough money. She won't have to work another day of her life. Now, if she's responsible. Now, if you go out there and let somebody invest it, hopefully, she'll let the company, the management team that I have put together, hopefully she'll let them manage it
Starting point is 00:55:20 and she'll have enough money. She can $300,000, $400,000, $500,000 a year for the rest of her life. Or she can let somebody swindle out of it and oh well, I don't know what I can do about that. So yeah, that's how I'm going to look at that Ocho. But you got to Ocho.
Starting point is 00:55:41 I'm going to make sure everybody's taken care of. Now, I can only take care of you once because once I'm gone there ain't no more challenge okay listen and you know women have to be have to be very careful especially when they have someone like you uh or ladies that that are in the chat that are watching you you have someone that you know is solid that you know that you can depend on every month. If there are any issues that may come up, you know, if you have someone that will provide and protect, you have to be very, very, very careful in thinking that because you might see all these other options that might be after you and chasing after you, you have to be careful because losing
Starting point is 00:56:22 someone like that you know you can depend on, who's going to protect, who's going to provide, and that you know come hell or high water, know you good. Ocho, even if I'm with a woman
Starting point is 00:56:39 and we've been together for a length of time, we're not married, oh, she's taken care of. Oh, she's taken care of. Yeah. She's taken care of. As if the only thing is we don't have a piece of paper. And you might not have my last name. But I would make sure you're taken care of.
Starting point is 00:57:00 And I ain't going to let nobody say, well, he would want me because I don't want nobody to say, well, I ain't give you nothing. Cause I ain't never like you. No, it's going to be in the, it's going to be in the paperwork. Oh yeah. I'm a firm believer in that. If I give somebody my word to you, I got this. I got you. I got you. Yeah. Most definitely. Most definitely. I'm Michael Kasson, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on good company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next.
