Be a boxer, though, well, you got to go out because it's just you and there.
Yeah.
And, man, you got to have some mental toughness.
I tip my hat to them cats.
I enjoy watching boxing, man, and how those guys stay disciplined, stay in elite shape.
Yeah.
They're probably the most elite-shaped athletes there are.
Yeah.
Man.
And you got to be mentally wired a little different, too.
You do, bro.
You got to bend them went through something.
I'm about to say, I'm serious, bro.
Like, you need you.
You probably don't want through something.
something, you as bad as I don't know what is a kid
there had to find other ways.
Right, right, right, right.
Like, I just feel like, there ain't
nothing you just pick up and be like, oh man, I think I want to be a boss.
You ain't become no boxer when you had silk pajamas as a kid.
That damn show didn't happen.
You become a boxer because that's it.
Yeah.
You know, you, you, you, you grew up very, very hard.
You grew up rugged, you grew up tough.
You go back and look at those guys like James Braddock.
They're telling the story how he's like, man, he fought
because I got to feed, I got to feed seven, six, seven kings.
Hello.
I feed the family.
Hello.
What else am I supposed to do?
Hello.
Ain't nobody hired at this time, you know, in this economy, this climate.
And you look at the boxes.
Look at, when you hear the story of boxes, a lot of them is very, very similar.
A lot of them coming from impoverished backgrounds.
Some come from broken homes.
And this is the only way out.
Some, like, you know what, I got tired of getting beat up.
I learned how to fight.
now I'm a professional boxer
whatever it is that took you to get there
you have to be wired differently just like to play football
to go out there and to hit somebody to take your body
and to crash into somebody else
you're different yeah
everybody can't do that everybody
oh I can do no no no everybody
cannot cannot train
even if you want to
to train your body to go run into
another man at a very high rate of speed
to do that it takes a
special type of person. And boxing takes it even special, more special type of person.
What's up, boss? You're good? Nice to meet you, man. Pleasure, pleasure, pleasure, pleasure.
How's it? How's it? How you doing, man?
Yeah, nice to meet you. Yeah, you're good, you're good. You can sit on the table right there, bro.
How you been, bro? How are you? Man, you got to pronounce Raphael. You have to pronounce this
last name. Rafael, Acajorie. Acrojorie. Akajuri. Akadure, AKJ. Oh, Aquapur. Oh, okay.
Nigeria?
18 KOs.
Okay, okay.
Bro, 18 KOs and 19 fights?
That's what we do.
You're getting them up out of there, huh?
It's my job, it's what I do for a living.
It's where I get paid.
Knock him out and keep you stepping.
Go ahead, don't you?
Nigeria boxing with an orthodox stance.
Hey, how was Kamp?
How was Kemp was great, you know?
Right before this fight, I had a fight in May, which I unfortunately lost, but I was fighting
for WVC International ZD in Germany.
And just after that fight, I mean, I mean,
I mean, that was one of the fights where I had to go the distance for the first time.
Right.
Not for the first time for the second time.
Yes, sir.
Second time.
So I got to really see myself on film and see what I'm about, see what I could do.
I saw a lot of things that I didn't like.
I saw all the corrections that my trainer Glenn has been talking about.
Just seeing the first time I saw my progression through a fight.
Yeah.
For the first round, second round, sixth round, you know, everything kind of made sense because in the fight, the other thing, I mean, you don't know you're box.
So you know how life feels after this fifth round.
Yeah.
Everybody comes to fight in the first round, then, you know, fifth, six round, that's where the champions come out.
So I saw my progression in the sixth round, and I saw how, just watching the fight, I saw, I could imagine, I could remember what I felt at that time and why I wasn't doing the things that I was doing.
Right.
So I came back from that, you know, went back to work.
You know, I had a meeting with my whole, my entire team.
Everybody shared what it was about.
I kind of shared what I was thinking and what I was doing and how I was feeling and why I didn't do certain things that were asking me to do.
And from there, I just put into work.
I'm in a much better space now.
Got out of the sparring I need.
I was with Tyson Fury the other last week.
Yeah.
I was sparred with Drone of.
Luis Ortiz.
Nessa Santana.
Everybody just kind of came through to help me with this fight.
Just knowing the magnitude of what we're about to deal with here in Vegas.
Yeah.
Most definitely.
How long you've been fighting?
You've been a fight of your whole life?
Absolutely.
No.
I played basketball, man.
I know you from Basketball Day.
So I came into America.
I was a Jordan Classic.
Okay.
I played in 2008.
Oh, you played in that?
Yeah, I did.
Oh, yeah?
With Samarito, Samu,
Brandon Jennings.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, so that's, I...
From basketball at our borders, Jordan Classic.
I played back.
I went to Sunrise Christian Academy,
Kansas.
I played with Buddy Heald.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Then from Bayton, versus Miami,
played basketball.
You went to the U, Ocho.
Went to the U, you was at the career?
Yeah.
I did, man. Come on, they're from Tropical Park.
Oh, that's right.
Oh, I'm tripping.
That's right. Oh, my goodness.
No, it's dawned me.
Pedro.
Yeah, Pedro.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
We used to train in the same gym.
Yeah.
I mean, we don't see very many, we don't see very many boxers.
Yeah.
Basketball player turn boxes.
Normally it's football players.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, that's my journey, you know, from basketball.
Yeah.
Because I played back with Jim Laranega in basketball four years.
I went to the Final Four, not Final Four, sorry, Sweet 16,
with Man Larkin and them guys.
After that, and I went to,
Al Gore and called me up to football.
Play football for the youth for, I didn't make,
I wasn't in the final in the team, but I was in practice squad.
So I played wide receiver there for 2014 with Philip Dorset.
Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Some guys, Chekalo and them guys.
Then from there, the Miami Dolphins called me up.
Damn.
I was doing in for training camp with the Tannale, right, in Tanya Hill?
Yeah.
Then I got cut.
You know, your boy was depressed for a long time.
You know, for about six months, got a job.
I was just a miserable guy.
Then I decided to go to boxing.
Bro, you're talented as hell.
I mean, think about it.
I just do things, bro.
I don't know.
Do things.
Did it come easy?
But there ain't a whole lot of people.
Think about what you just said.
You came off basketball.
basketball without borders.
So you go make the Jordan Classic.
You play college basketball.
You play NFL union.
You get on to the practice squad of the NFL football.
And now you're a professional boxer.
Bro, there ain't a whole lot of people that got a journey like that.
My dad was a professional soccer player.
My mom was a sprinter.
So I got it from somewhere.
Oh, yeah.
It makes sense.
I mean, I just do things.
Unfortunately, the things I do athletic, I guess.
So it's not easy for me.
It's just something I'm just willing to do.
And my dad is the kind of guy who was like,
go ahead and do it.
You know, I had a fight, I think two years ago where I got knocked out cold, right?
I called my dad, I'm like, yo, bro, I don't disbastin, it's not for me, you.
My dad was like, are you serious?
Like, he was like, are you serious?
Like, do you know how many or how much people talk about me because of you?
You better get your ass back in the gym and go figure that.
So that's the kind of mindset.
That's the kind of people that I grew up around.
I grew up with that who played professional soccer in Nigeria,
played with the best of them back in the day.
So I always had that encouragement to always go back and do the best.
And maybe one day I'm going to be a swimmer.
Who knows?
Hey, so who influenced your boxing?
Like, where your boxer style come from?
Give us a couple cats.
I watch a lot.
When I started boxing, I watched Lennox Lewis.
Okay.
Growing up, I watched Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis.
Lennox was my favorite boxer because when I was in the, when I was seven, eight,
you know, that was the guy who was popping, you know.
So watching him and just watching his, not his aura.
You know, the way he stood, the way he, you know, you just dominant.
That kind of swayed me into it.
So from watching Lennox, watching Floyd, Triple G was popping when I started.
I watched Anthony Joshua.
From that, I watched Crawford's latest guy.
I watched now, Errol Spence was my guy at one point, just getting the skills from different people.
Marvin Hagler, I've, his, you know, just watching the old school guys and watching,
just trying to pick different things from different places.
I'm fortunate to have a trainer, Glenn Johnson, the Road Warrior.
So watching him, just listening to him every single day.
Okay.
You know, there's a blessing that comes from that.
Right.
So my style is from different people.
And when it's all said and done, I'm going to create my own personal style.
Oh, okay.
So what can we expect from you, you know, Saturday Night in the Ring?
Well, I have 19 wins, 18 knockouts.
So, and I haven't really knocked somebody.
in a long time.
You feeling like it this weekend, huh?
Yeah, I'm feeling a little dangerous.
I see it in your eyes.
I see it.
You look determined.
You look focused.
You look ready.
I feel too good.
I'm like, yeah.
But yeah, I'm hopefully, you know, I pray for safety for everybody.
My goal is for everybody to go back home safely to their family.
By the end of the day, don't forget, this is a kill sport.
Yeah, right.
We get paid to do damage in a box ring in front of the crowd.
You didn't hurt business.
Exactly.
You know what I'm saying.
So, yeah, we're going to do.
going to get it right. But you're going to see
a good fight. At the best, on the best
case scenario, you're going to see a good fight.
Okay. In a spectacular, in the
spectacular case scenario, you
see what I do best. Okay.
I like it. Where was camp? You held camp in Miami?
You know Miami? Yes, sir. Okay.
When it's, how
difficult it is it for you to remain?
This is going to probably, more people are going to watch you
in this fight, in any other fight,
because you're on this card right here.
And I know you want to make a great showing
because you want to show the world that, hey,
this is who I am.
This is what I'm capable of doing.
And you got a chance to witness
one of the great up-and-coming fighters.
What does that mean?
How do you stay focused?
They're like, bro, I'm still getting in the ring.
I still got to fight.
Regardless of who the headline is,
I still got to do my job.
Well, experience comes a lot, you know.
My first loss, I fought the Russian,
the Russian number five, WBC Everywhere champion.
Yes, I was feeling myself, right?
There are probably fights I maybe should not have taken,
but I'm glad I took that fight
because obviously if you're not fighting the best,
what are you doing in this sport?
Right.
I was, my mind was everywhere.
I was thinking, what am I going to do,
and what kind of job am I going to throw?
You know, I just didn't know what to do.
It was on ESPN, bright lights, main stage, national TV.
Everybody was watching me.
I got stopped.
It kind of sucked, you know.
I was kind of depressed for a few months.
But we came back to it.
What I'm trying to say here is that I've seen the bright lights.
In boxing, not in a sport, we're into boxing.
So now my job is to go and do my job.
Ignore the noise.
Coach, I'll go to him back in the days to say,
ignore the noise, ignore the noise.
And that always just plays into my head.
Everything else is noise.
Going there, knock the man out, and celebrate after.
That's my job.
Going there, ignore the noise, do what you need to do.
If my phone is buzzing, someone take care of it.
I mean, I'm grateful I have a coach who's kind of a famous guy,
so all the noise goes to him.
You know, so that's beneficial for me, right?
I'm not the guy.
I'm not the main guy in my team.
Right.
My coach is the kind of guy in the team.
So that helps a lot, you know.
And you happen to be married to someone that's as famous, if not more famous than you.
You didn't even tell us that.
That was a long time ago, bro.
What's your name?
Aguma K.
Oh, yeah?
That's been over for a while some time now.
What?
Y'all.
No, that was the old story.
He was moving forward.
Okay.
My bad.
Yeah.
My bad.
I'm sorry.
Didn't mean to bring that up.
That was great right last time.
It was the best thing out of it, but we move forward.
So now, but I just can't believe how talent do you are, bro.
That's talent.
To be able to do what you were at that level.
We're not talking about no 11, 12-year-old.
We're talking about growing men sports.
We're talking about collegiate basketball.
We're talking about NFL football.
We're talking about professional prize fighting.
Do you realize what you've done?
Again, my daddy played basketball.
My bad I played soccer profession, and my mom was a sprinter.
So I don't know.
You know, I just do things.
Right.
And it just happened to be things that people clap for.
I don't see it like that, but when maybe one day I will.
I just do things, you know?
Life is, I mean, I also come from the U.
You know, to the U.
Oh, you know how that works.
So we just do things.
La Rock Shanna, everybody, we just do things.
And when we do things, we just have, when we do them and do them with the grind
and with the mindset that we're going to be the best.
Yeah.
Fortunately, we just happen to be the best,
or very good at what we do.
So it's an amazing program.
I love the you.
I mean, there's no better place I would have gone to school.
Right.
The people we're around and people that we see,
the people we talk to, people we see every day.
I mean, it's just an amazing place.
And the things that they teach us, you know,
the people that come around, you know,
hopefully by the grace of God within the next few months,
I'll be a heavyweight champion of the world.
And I can come back and, you know,
show the next generation,
that, hey, man, I did it.
Dwayne Johnson, did it, Warren's side, did it.
Ray Lewis.
Everybody did, so you two can do it.
Eddrey and James can do it.
Everybody can do it, you know.
So the next generation, it just continues the tradition.
It's our job now to mention it and the next generation.
The older generation has mentored us, you know, the next generation.
It's our job to now do the work for the next one.
And just keep the tradition alive.
So when you win this fight on Saturday night, come back on nightcap and tell us how you did it.
Absolutely.
Yes, sir.
Thank you, bro.
Thank you, sir.
Thank you, ma.
Good to see you, way.
Yes, sir, yes, sir.
Yeah, you was in Tyrone Spong and them guys.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I've been telling them, they don't believe I could box, man.
I've been telling them.
No, I'm not even trying to cap.
He can actually box it.
Yeah, his chin is suspect.
Yeah.
Appreciate you, bro.
All right, bro.
All the best, man.
Good luck on Saturday.
Hey, man.
What we got?
That's Glenn Johnson.
He was a light, heavyweight champ.
Right here?
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
He's building.
He loves.
basketball player don't it.
Oh, yeah.
You got some, Mike?
Oh, that's here?
For Ocho?
Gleazy?
He's been to eat it on?
Oh, my goodness.
What's from where?
Oh, yeah.
Chad, I apologize.
This man,
this man ain't in the glitz of old,
okay.
You need some water
or something to chase it, bro.
You ain't.
Don't bring me no water?
They got,
they got water.
They got water with that.
Hey, maybe a little cold.
Hey, I know one thing.
If you're an athlete,
and you mix it with another one?
Yeah.
Boy, you're going to get something, huh?
Yeah.
You hear me?
Yeah.
That man them played all kinds of sports.
And he's like, he don't even realize what he's done.
Bro, this man, this man made NFL, made an NFL roster on the practice squad.
This man.
Played in a brand joint class.
Yeah, played Grand Jorn Classic with a collegiate basketball player.
Now he's a professional fighter.
I mean, hell, he probably could hit a baseball.
I wouldn't put it past him.
Hey, his mom a sprinter.
Yeah.
You got some genetics now.
Dad.
Hey, how long I've been preaching it?
Because it's who you procreate with now.
Yeah.
Especially you want to have an athlete.
Get you somebody, Joe.
You know, I put them through the gauntlet when we first meet.
Yeah, I already know.
If they're not.
Hell no.
If they know you eat glitz, they probably would have never procreated with you.
They're like, we all want no part of no glitz he got.
What's wrong with this?
They just know hot dog.
And they're talking.
The bun, too, Joe.
Oh, it's fine in it, man.
I know you want a little bit.
Nah, no, right.
You ain't that dry dog, bro.
You ain't got no, you ain't got no condiments?
No ketchup, mayo, nothing.
I don't need all that shit, man.
I don't need all that, man.
Yeah, you need it.
Hey, where this came from?
Let me get one of them over.
Yeah, yeah.
All right, nah.
Yeah, he'd do it too much.
You got to slow it down, man.
You know, the man get out of control now.
Too gleezy?
You still ain't had...
I think one of them strawberries.
Them strawberry smoothies, though.
No, hell, no, I don't want one.
Hey, you still ain't had any of a drink, bro.
You need to slow down, Turbo.
You're moving a little too fast.
I'm good, Joe.
Look at the end, poking out of the bread.
Watch your body first.
Watch what you're going to be in.
What?
You got a chill, bro.
You got a chill.
Oh, man.
He's queen.
Oh, man.
Come on, man.
Come on, man.
But, Jay, hey, hey.
Joe, I want nobody to do with me.
Chad already know you're freaking, though.
They already know they, look, look, look, look, look, look,
they try to break it up.
All right.
Bad it bad to eat here.
Hey, y'all are tripping, man.
But the Bradley Bill situation, Joe, you make, look,
I understand when they were sending him home,
obviously we're not going to be on the best term.
But it does lighten the blow.
It lightens the blow a little bit if you tell me,
you know what, that number three,
we're going to put it up in the rock.
Yeah.
Ain't nobody else going to be able to wear that number.
Yeah.
Like, now if you see P, he probably,
Hell, he probably like Jayton Daniels.
Yeah.
Man, cut ties, man, I ain't, I ain't, I ain't one deal with y'all.
Straight up.
No, for real.
Because if you don't tell me you're going to retire my number, not Bradley Bill wearing it.
Yeah.
Come on, bro.
And this is a big season for Bradley Bill, Uncle Ocho.
You know, considering the fact that since he left Washington, bro, he hadn't been an all-star
caliber player since.
Not even close.
He had a short-standing Phoenix.
Yeah.
It didn't go great.
Now he's in, uh, with the clippers.
With the clippers.
And we know what they need desperately.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Considering the fact what they've lost probably over the next five to
seven years, without having picks, they need guys who are going to be able to step up and play
and play big.
Well, they're big three.
So they're going to need Darius Garland.
They're going to need B.I.
And they're going to need Bradley Bield.
They're going to need Bradley Biel to be the Bradley Bills and average 30 points a game
with the Wizards.
I don't know.
Now, they ain't going to get that one.
Now, they may get a Bradley Bion who could probably get them about 20 to 21 a game.
I'm just keeping it realistic.
You know what I mean?
But they need to have 320 points.
In order for them to have success, they're going to need to have 3 20 points scored.
Yeah, yeah, I agree.
In order for them to have some success in the West,
because it's so tough and it's so star-driven, you know,
I'm talking about the first six slides.
Yeah.
Like, you got San Antonio, you got OKC, you got Denver, you got Minnesota.
Houston.
Houston.
That's five right there.
You ain't say Lakers.
I ain't say Lakers.
That's six.
Yeah, so, hey, Golden State, say, Golden State.
If Steph Curry's healthy, Steph Curry's going to have something to say,
it's going to be tough man it's going to be tough for them clippers in their west but yeah i think
this is a very important year for for b bill considering the fact i know he wants to get back to that
all-star caliber guy i don't even know i i don't know if that's possible in the west it's going to be
tough i don't know you got to be playing great ball not only individually but as a team and look at the
guards yeah you got amman you got shea you got luka yeah you got you got uh castle you got murray
Yeah
I yeah
We don't know if he's going to start
He's still going to get off the bench
Deer and Fox was an all-star
Yeah
Yeah
But the guards are loaded
You gotta be different now
You definitely got to be different
So
And the guys you know
And the big you go to
Obviously the bigs
Yoke
Uh uh uh wimby
Yeah
Man
It ain't it's gonna be hard to compete with that
Because they lost
The Clippers lost
Zubak, they traded Zubbite here
Indiana, so you don't have
that huge presence
you know, up under the goal, so
But I would, you know what?
I would feel some type of way, too. If you told me that you
were going to retire my jersey and then I look up there and I see
somebody in it, I feel some type of way. Yeah, I will
see it. I ain't finished it here until
it wouldn't matter to me. It wouldn't matter.
Yeah. It wouldn't matter. If you, if, now had you
not told me anything, okay,
cool. But if you told me
that's what you're going to do, and then I
turn around and I see somebody in that jersey, yeah, I'm
I feel some type of way.
Yeah, I'm going to fill away, too, bro.
That's why I say we don't know what they told Jay and Daniels,
because it's the same situation, man, as the player, yeah,
you're going to be taken back behind that.
Yeah, and who we got to now?
What we got?
I guess we just, we got anything.
We got any of the topics?
Hey, I know a good topic.
You talk about brand a good topic.
I got one.
I know a good topic.
What?
Dana said he got something for me.
I mean, hey.
Joe, they're killing you with them shorts.
By my show.
That's okay.
That's okay.
Hey, look, I can't help God take his time with me.
No, I can't, I can't help it.
Hey.
Hey, he took your time with the shorts, too, because he didn't have no more material.
Hey, listen, I know we can talk about those Sheldon, the tennis player.
Oh, Ben.
I watched it.
You laid all the way up.
I watched it all the way.
I hit, I said, man, you watch this probably by what?
Yeah.
He's a coach.
Probably, man.
No, it was probably about.
Probably about 11.45 when you hit me.
They were late.
And did I, because they didn't go off to like 3.30, 3.35.
I felt, well, what, 12.35.
You felt to sleep too?
I felt asleep.
I felt asleep.
Well, boy, when I'm talking about them boys was hitting,
that left hand Sheldon got, his back hand didn't got better.
Yeah.
I'm talking about.

On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling
alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on
his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero and I travel by myself because it's a rare space
where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word
solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people
and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

What I try to do is faux journal.
I don't know.
Have you guys heard of faux journaling?
Yeah.
It's reading.
It's called reading.
So we don't like to use that word anymore.
Okay.
A panel of New York.
Yorker cartoonists. Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class? No! I've been dying too. I'm so sorry. I'm seeing a reading of
Sadako and the thousand paper cranes by Audra McDonald's at the Wonderland Bookstore on 14th.
That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark 30.
No way. You have to come to the last bookstore though. Kim Cottrell is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday.
A panel of Eurovision participants. And we
do a little Halloween sometimes.
Does the Pope dress up?
He winks on Halloween.
It's right up next to the microphone.
I hear you can almost hear the eyelashes hit each other.
You never seen Italy so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween.

Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls.
We spent real time on it in our surviving middle school run,
bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist
who's raising two black girls of his own
to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological
and psychological chaos happening all this end up.
We got into group chats and gaming,
friendships and bullying,
and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring
and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
There's belonging.
You can think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers,
sitting down with therapist Keir Gaines on Black fatherhood
and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have on shorts, so you can't do flips.
You have on the dress.
You have to cross your legs.
That's the range of this run.
From screen time to identity to the fathers doing the work at home.
We have to get off her device.
But the reality is there's a lot of life out there
that we don't want you as your adults in their lives to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.
Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.

His all-around game was impeccable.
But that last one, I was like, bro, he's about to crank this up.
he trying to jump out of his shoes on this one.
He had that last, that last ace was probably about 144 to 146.
I was like, man.
Ain't nobody returned that.
And ain't like he were playing no slouch.
No, no, Al-Qaraz.
He's playing number two play.
Yeah, Al-A-Ras.
Al-Qaraz, that boy, man.
And he just coming off wrist.
It's all full months.
This is his first game, first time back.
This is your best chance.
This is your best chance for somebody to win a major because Al-Carraz is out
and Senator did not even join it.
And guess what?
All things being.
equal, this is going to be the first time.
We're going to have an American male in the finals of a championship.
He'll be the first African-American since Malibaldon,
went back in 1996 at Wimbledon.
So we're talking about 30 years since we've had a black American male in the finals.
We've got to go back to the last time we've had, what,
potential to have an American to win a major.
We'd be Andy Rodic in 2003.
He won this very U.S. Open.
So it doesn't happen often.
No.
for that match to go four hours and 30 minutes.
And that man still serving at 146 miles per hour.
But through that duration, it tells you a lot about his conditioning
and the way he approached the game.
Yes.
It was impressive to watch, bro.
It was so impressive.
I think tennis players, especially those at the highest level,
their conditioning might be up there with MMA and soccer and boxing.
Because you're playing tennis four hours.
It ain't like you're standing in one spot for hours.
You're moving, left and right.
And, man.
Up, back.
And the thing is now, they got the clock on you.
They only let you take your time and go wipe your face and wave to the crowd and go get you a drink and everything.
They got that clock on you.
And they got that in baseball too.
Yeah, they got the 30-second clock.
Because the pitch to all that day and time playing around at the mound.
Yeah, he'll be getting up out of the mound.
And hit them too.
They be pulling up with the gloves.
Man, get your ass in the battle of the box and hit them to the elbow, man.
They ain't about the time.
You got time when you be doing all that.
But, man, this is going to be a great fight.
I can't wait to see.
Look, Ocho and I, Joe, this is probably your first time being able to.
But Ocho and I, we've done a couple of these.
And everybody come out and say the same thing.
They're going to do this.
They're going to do that.
And then they get in the ring and don't do none of what they say.
I'm looking at some of these guys.
I believe him.
Yeah.
I believe in this time around.
I believe they're going to do what they say they're going to do.
Exactly.
Yeah.
I tell you what, Carter Bean, he seemed convincing to me.
Yeah.
He seemed convincing to me.
He seemed like a guy who's ready and prepared for.
for the fight.
Obviously, you know, the way he came in
and talked about how he's going to impose his will.
I'm looking forward to that, bro.
I want to see.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
And I'm surprised Vegas has Connor Benner's the underdog.
He's decided underdog.
I'm not, well, let me be quiet.
Yeah.
But, hey, I thought that with Ryan,
Ryan said he's, hey, he said the speed.
You say he ain't ready for,
he ain't never seen speed like this.
Yeah.
He ain't ever seen power.
Even as fast as Ryan is on,
You know, you talk to anybody that's been in combat sports,
one thing that beats speed is timing.
Yes.
Once he catch a rhythm, the way you fight and the way you throw it,
I mean, as fast as you are, I mean nothing.
That's how Marquez called Apakia.
Bingo.
He timed him up perfect because he knows the Paci-Ey-L-L-Bounce.
That bounce, yeah, see, timing.
One, two, one, bam.
Once you catch a rhythm, then that speed mean nothing.
Yeah, I want to see if Ryan has, you know,
gotten better with his ring IQ versus just trying to use this speed
and come with that hook every time.
Man, people are going to be sitting on there, bro.
They're going to cut your lights out real quick,
and it's conditioning.
He said, because he was overweight when he...
Yeah.
I think sometimes they'd be trying to make...
trying to sell it.
I ain't even trained hard and I beat you.
Oh.
Nah.
Man, that'd be like me and Ocho
said, man, you know what?
I ain't even practiced this whole week.
I was there home.
The coach sent me home for the whole week.
And boy, that's a lie.
You know you ain't feeling to come out here.
He'll go, damn it.
You know, it's a more hot dog?
Nah, they're good.
They're gone.
Animal?
I don't know.
Yeah.
You're trying to gobble that out another one?
Ain't I want a hot dog?
Not one hot dog.
Chad, I'm sorry.
That's it?
Oh, man.
Check, I'm sorry.
Wait, is that somebody's?
You sure, George, you want it?
No?
No.
Yeah, you go.
I guess, I guess no nobody won't be.
They have no smooth, huh?
Yeah, the strawberry with pineapples.
I got you.
Yeah.
You want to be?
Nah, hell, I mean, no.
I'm good, I'm good.
You bad thought I wanted a hot dog.
No, there ain't no hot dog in 30 years.
Do you want this other half?
No, no, no, I'm good.
All right.
Hey, chat.
You want some hot dogs?
Yeah, he's like strawberry, mango, pineapple, banana.
I think that's what's in it.
Hey, them used to be birthday go-toes.
As a kid, the pye.
You know that Glenn Johnson?
Yeah.
Like, hereby.
Fort Roy?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He knocked Roy out of him.
Unfortunately, he knocked Roy out.
Roy was on the rain trying to do the rope-a-dove, but he got one through there.
My man right here?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm good.
Joe got that weak-ass bladder.
That's why they're trying to be running to the bathroom.
I just pee back here.
Oh, Lord.
Now, you should get this little cup, Joe.
Get a little water bottle.
Say your time.
Nah.
The bathroom right out of the door is.
Hey, what's up, boy?
Where you've been at?
Hey, you've seen Andre Ward?
Hey, let him know I'm looking for him.
Yeah, where is he at?
Where's Dre at?
Oh, he's here?
I know Tarbitt's supposed to be stopping by, too.
Hey, yeah, Andre Ward, I'm with his ass.
Hi, sir.
You good, bar?
I can meet you.
What's up, bro?
How are you doing?
How are you doing? Everything good.
Good, good.
Go ahead, don't you?
All right.
I ain't got done no here
pronounce that last name
Magsayo
Magzio
Magzio
Magsio
Magsio
292 19 KOs
What can we expect
out of this fight?
You're gonna expect
Yeah
Fireworks
Like yeah
He's undefeated
I'm more
But I'm more experienced
I'm more stronger
And better than him
This is my prime
This is my weight
Yeah
Let's go
Yeah
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. How was camp? How was that? You camp for good?
Eight weeks camp is good because after my fight last April 5th, I win knockout.
And then when I know that he's my next opponent.
Right.
So after that one week rest, I trained.
You took one week off after your last fight in April?
Yeah, just one week off because I am a disciplined guy.
Right, right, okay.
I don't drink. I don't do a party. Just family.
Just locked in.
I like it.
Yes, like it.
I like it.
What's your fighting style?
Give us your fighting style.
I can do brol.
I can do technique style, whatever, who comes in me.
I'm just.
Okay.
You grew up in the Philippines.
So obviously, many Pac-Man, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I've been on the card of Pacquist two times.
Okay.
I fought here and I'm a team of Ball Arena.
I win knockout of the year of Delphi, you see.
And then that was a.
2021 when he fight about August.
Right.
Yeah.
So you looking to turn the lights out of the building.
When you go into the,
you ain't trying to go to the judge's cards.
You're trying to end up and make no doubt about it.
Hey, you're in your hand raised before to get to the judges.
Yeah, we're trying to win every round or knockout.
So win every round or the opportunity, the knockouts is a bonus.
Yeah.
Yeah, so.
Yeah, Cortez is younger than you, but you would have the city,
he's an undefeited.
How motivated? How motor are you to silence it because, you know, hey, he's home.
It's good. No, it's my home too. I live here now.
Okay, okay. I have a lot of properties here, so he's my home now, Las Vegas.
So it's good, too, I have my whole back, my Filipinos.
Yes. They supported me here.
Yeah.
My last previous fight, a lot of Filipinos, I'm so happy.
And for this fight, for me and Cortez, he's going to taste a defeat.
You can defeat her?
He never fought a guy like me.
He never fought a guy like me.
We're experienced.
I fight Garasel Jr.
The longest winning champion in WBC.
Right.
And then we fall hard and a win.
Yeah.
I fall like good fighters.
I don't want to go too far in advance before this fight starts.
But you're very confident that you're going to win this fight.
I'm confident that you're going to win this fight.
I've watched you fight before.
Very skillful, very good.
After this fight, who is somebody you'd like to see next?
And I don't mean to ask and, you know, ask about future opponents,
but I'm just curious.
Is there anybody that's on your radar?
I'm looking, I'm aiming the belt, the Zuba belt.
I think at Rayao, we're going to fight the Rairo.
We're going to, after this fight, we're going to fight.
He's good, he's strong.
I like it.
Yeah.
The stronger, the better.
Yeah, that'd be a good fight.
Okay.
Did you always want to be a fighter?
Always.
Here.
From a kid?
I start boxing eight.
At eight years old.
Yeah.
I inspired training.
I inspired the train because of Pacquo.
Right.
Yeah.
So Pacquiao is like he's a hero in the Philippines.
He's a hero.
He's a hero in the Philippines.
He's a legend.
You ever met Pacquiao?
You ever talk to him?
No, we talked.
We talked.
I'm undercutting his fight.
Yeah.
Yeah.
When I'm undercutting his fight, it's a dream come through.
Wow.
Before I was just a kid looking up here.
him, um,
hero.
Yeah.
Watching him in the TV.
Yeah.
Now I'm one of the,
he's undercut before.
Wow.
Didn't come true.
Yeah, that's...
Hey, the guy you fight and he's undefeated,
is being undefeated kind of overrated in boxing?
Yeah, he has a lot of fight of cherry pick opponent.
Oh, he cherry-picked this opponent.
I saw a lot of fights.
The losses are a lot.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He never fought a guy.
Yeah.
He can't fault nobody like you, though.
Right, right.
More experience.
Right.
And I fight a good fighter, good Mexican fighter, knock out artists, a broiler, like Pecorrova, like Vargas, or Gerasel, Holocetia.
Yeah.
They're a good fighter.
And then I win.
Some of them I lost because of my dehydration, but no, what's you called us?
No excuses.
There's no rehydration in this fight, right?
No rehydration.
No.
Now I'm comfortable in my weight.
Okay.
135 pounds.
Now I make 136.
I can eat.
I can train.
After tomorrow, let's wait and then eat.
So what's your walk-around weight?
What do you normally walk?
My number of walking weight, like 146, 147.
Okay.
So you don't have to really tax your body to make weight
because you're walking around sub-150 and trying to make 135.
So eight weeks is a breeze for you.
12 pounds over, 12 pounds.
And then when I train, 9 pounds.
And then when I cut my carbs, yeah, I like right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I cut my carbs, the weight go down.
What went into the decision of you joining Zulfurboxing?
Superboxing is the best, man.
Like, I never treated like this.
I never treated like this.
Like, everything is there.
The food, the platform in Paramount.
Yes.
I feel like a champ.
Yeah.
Yeah, I feel like a champ.
Wow.
Oh, wow.
Thank you, sir.
Bro, thank you, man.
Good luck on Saturday.
Yes, sir.
Appreciate your man.
Best to enjoy, to enjoy you, to entertain you.
I'll see you Saturday.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for having me.
No, thank you for coming on.
You need a sparring partner.
I'm here, okay.
Hey, hey, I want your buddy might be a little small, but boy, he probably got some dynamite.
Hey, Joe, he can go, boy.
Yeah, he got some hands.
I can tell you go.
You heard what he said?
One key thing he said to me was discipline.
Yeah.
I'm very disciplined.
Yeah, hey, yeah, yeah, you don't party, you don't like that.
You hear about.
Family.
Family is it.
You may want to leave him alone.
You're a barriceture.
He'll have a puncher, too.
Yeah.
Or a shitload of punches around, yeah.
Is that typical for them Filipino kind of, the small you are most of the time?
Yeah, the small ones.
Because I know Pac-out here.
The more punches you go.
Yeah.
You don't put it.
Because look at it.
You don't need a whole lot of oxygen to fuel that body.
Right.
You start getting on up there 168, 175, 205.
It's a little different.
You better say something.
You better say something.
You'll punch yourself out.
Yeah.
Be out of bad.
Yeah.
And you go anaerobic in there.
don't worry about it
It won't be
It won't be long
We got Ryan Garcia
Come on at 2.30
I saw it down with Ryan
Yeah, what he said?
Man, he was out of his mind
He called, he's talking crazy
about everybody
Yeah
Talking crazy about Shakur
Talking crazy about Bud
Yeah
Talking crazy about Ben
Talking crazy
And before I was like
I wonder what Ben
Relationship is the Nigel Ben
Because I remember
His dad is a dark
destroyer
Yeah
I remember him fighting.
Yeah.
I said, I wonder what relationship that he is.
And come to find out, and he says, hey, he didn't know that with his dad until he was like 16 years ago.
That's crazy.
And then he started fighting.
That was, that's been in him, and he didn't know why.
Yeah.
That's crazy.
That's a great story, too.
That's a great story.
Just moved it real good here, Joe.
Yeah.
I got to hit a quick 50.
Go ahead.
You got to hit what?
Quick 50.
Those dogs, you then.
Don't get out for your crown.
Make sure you turn your butt away from the camera
them a little-ass shorts off.
Make sure you breathe.
He's doing shorter.
He doing shorter.
He's doing shorter.
He trying to get that pump.
He doesn't have three hot dogs, so he tried to get it off.
Probably about 50.
He ain't three hot dogs, Dana.
So he tried to get it off him.
He got to do 50.
Hey, Dana watching too.
He tried to see what?
type of condition you're in for he put you out there now.
Breathe.
Make sure you're breathing now.
He needed what you call him.
Yeah.
Make sure you breathing.
Yeah.
He tried to do a hundred.
Now he's trying to show out.
I mean, you got.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hey, Dana, don't forget about my fight.
Okay.
I don't have your number.
I got it.
Okay.
He's not going to give it to me.
All right.
Hey, nightcap boxing, baby.
It's almost here.
I know.
Hey, Joe, can you imagine?
When I walk to the ring,
y'all going to walk me out?
Yeah.
That's too far for me.
I'm being my chair.
Man, I walk no far as I have to walk, man.
Hey, they see me walking out there living.
They're like, yeah, he's about to get too well.
Boy, I feel good, right.
Man, a little bad, little dude,
little dude look ferocious.
That only man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But I still can't get over to the Nigerian dude, man.
Basketball, big dude.
Football.
I'm looking at them, I'm looking at them, Joe.
I'm like, man, like a basketball player.
Yeah, yeah.
Man, I'm playing every sport.
But when you're that tall, you got power.
because you can generate power.
Mm-hmm.
Genetics, bro.
You know who he kind of built like?
Who?
You remember Michael Grant, the heavyweight?
Michael Grant.
Michael Cran.
He ended up losing.
He ended up losing to Atlantic.
But he was a long, he was like six foot seven.
But when you got that kind of height and you can put that kind of, you know, generate that kind of power behind it?
Yeah.
That's why I'm trying to tell Ojo, man.
I don't know why he's standing barking up this tree.
Who?
Joe, you heard the first thing he said?
What?
What he said?
When he was sitting here before he got up?
Where he was at?
Where that boy, Ocho could box.
You know?
What do you say?
He did say he chin a suspect.
Yeah, that's, that's, that's, I don't mean nothing.
And, and we really are two different weight classes, but since you've been running your mouth from there.
I don't care about weight clad, because my hands registered, Joe.
All right.
If I, if I, if I was to hit you right now, you could get me sit in jail.
Because your hands registered?
You know, I'm licensed, Joe.
I had to be licensed nor the box.
I didn't man think he's going to be able to get off on me.
All right, he doesn't told you already, Joe.
I ain't going to say nothing else, too.
Yeah, all right.
George, you eat the hot dog, too?
I don't.
Hey, hey.
Joe, Joe, I don't have him cut up a hot dog and put it between two.
Ah!
A boy.
It's a sandwich.
Hey.
A dog is not a sandwich.
I don't care what nobody say.
Who ordered them hot dogs?
Hey, thank you.
All three of them shit was good.
Chad, I'm sorry, Chad.
Damn.
No, I'm Gucci, bro.
I'm straight.
I'm straight.
Ask him how dog's good, brother.
I'm going to hit him.
I'm going to hit Dana.
Might go gambling.
Dana going to be in the high rolling.
You're going to have to bring about 10 bands with you, if not more.
Yeah, Dana will come in there with a bad.
Dana get markers.
I don't want no marker.
Oh, yeah, because you're going to be in the bowing.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
I don't want the marker.
Whatever I come with by losing, I'm going.
good. You're always saying,
whatever you're comfortable with losing. I'm only comfortable
losing a couple of thousand. Yeah.
Maybe five. Five,
I'm still going to be able to sleep comfortable.
Yeah. Man, I'll be, boy, I'll be madden.
Boy, I'll tell my own damn house I lose
50, 500 men.
But, man,
it's been amazing right here to sit down and talk
to the guys. It has, man.
Everybody looked like, like I said,
the last guy's like, hey,
he walks around, and that's what I tell people about
Floyd. Floyd is not a natural
the big man.
Nope.
So Floyd,
Floyd making 147,
Floyd walking around at 150,
yeah,
152.
Yep, yep.
That's who do remind you of
because Floyd discipline
like that too.
You know,
the way he don't do
nothing at that,
party, smoke,
I mean,
well, he'll party,
but he ain't going to drink
or nothing.
He'll go,
and then he'll lead there
and go straight to the gym.
Yeah.
You got to appreciate that.
I've enjoyed it
because we get a chance
to see it
from a boxer's point of view
and the things
that they think about,
you know,
into the ring, being in the ring.
After your game playing don't work and you get hit, you know what I mean?
How do you bounce back?
Are you mentally strong?
So for me, I've had a pleasure, man.
I've had a pleasure to interview some of these cats.
And I can't wait to see him.
I can't wait to see him fight on Saturday.
Leak neighbors made it clear that his decision if he'll play on Sunday is his.
He said he feels confident overall, but the game is a different and he wants to make sure
he's not rushing.
At the end of the day, it's my career, it's my body, and I know.
when I'm able to play.
Take your time, Elise.
Sure do.
But I don't understand
with all that mean.
That means that he's going to make a decision
on if he's ready to play.
If he don't feel like he's ready to go out there and compete
and be able to help the team win,
he ain't going out there.
He's not going to let the team rush him back out there.
And if we're just keeping it 100,
the man ain't going to be ready week one.
Now, he, you know.
Hey, talking like that, yeah.
Because normally, if you're ready,
you got one word answers.
I'm going to see you all Sunday.
And I'm ready.
I ain't got to say nothing.
You'll see him out there on Sunday.
Yeah, he's not ready.
Yeah, take your time, young fella.
That's all right.
Hey, I'll tell you one thing.
Oh, number three, going to go over and handle that thing, though.
He's going to be all right.
Oh, he's going to get some catches.
Nah, what are you?
Catches?
You act like Odell for him to go out there and go for $150.
He has to be the focal point.
He's the only one you can trust.
Outside of Darnell Mooney, and Darnell Mooney's not an outside guy.
He's an inside guy.
So that means Malik neighbor's spot has to be done and taken over by Odell.
I'm telling you.
Watch.
Now, don't be surprised.
I don't have a hundred and some change in a touchdown now.
I said it first.
All I know is I'm mad at Yahoo for giving me him.
Who?
You mean what Odell?
Malik neighbors.
No, y'all who picked him?
Who are you going to guy?
I don't know.
I wouldn't have taken him.
If you notice, I didn't take anybody that was coming off injury.
Too risky.
Yeah.
Too risky.
Mike, they did something.
They already, they got us in, what you call it, the pick, got me picking last.
And, yeah, I felt I should have had top three pick
just to keep it 100.
Actually, technically, it really don't matter
where you pick if you know what you're doing
when it's time to pick.
Yeah, I'll say, FYI.
Yeah, okay.
I'm just telling you.
All right, we're going to see.
Matthew Stafford's going to get me out
to a great start tonight when you throw for four touchdowns.
And two, I'm going to beat a puckego.
Wait, four touchdowns against the 49th's defense?
Yeah.
And two, I'm going to beat the pool.
If it was week 10 and week 11,
then I would agree with you.
Don't you worry about what my team going to do.
You worry about your team getting
beat by Tampa at home.
Who?
You think we're going to lose?
I should go to the game.
I don't care if y'all lose or not,
as long as your guys don't do too much.
You should go to one game?
Like, leave here on the red eye Saturday and go to Cincinnati.
Because I land, if I leave here on the red eye,
I land at Cincinnati, what, 6 in the morning,
call the Bengals for a ticket, watch the game and go back to the day.
We do nightcap in Cincinnati.
Tuesday off.
flat back to Miami.
Well, good luck with that.
Hey, hey, let's stay here.
Let's go to the Raiders Dolphins game.
We already in Vegas.
I know.
Ocho, I don't know the Raiders.
I know him.
I know Mr. Davis.
I get it.
Hey, Jay, you want to go to the game?
Where?
They play the Dolphins Sunday.
The Dolphins?
Yeah.
You think somebody wants to see the Guppies?
The who?
The gutpees.
The dolphins.
Malie.
I'm going to be on watching my cowboy.
What time they play?
At one o'clock probably.
Well, 10 o'clock, right, huh?
10 a.m.?
Yep.
Yeah, 10 a.m.
No.
They're in Miami or they're playing here?
No, they don't play till four.
They play the late game.
One o'clock.
Let's play the one o'clock.
No, that would be the 10 a.m. game.
No, they don't play no 10 a.m. game here.
10.
1 o'clock.
It'll be the 4 o'clock game.
That's the late game.
Okay, okay.
West Coast game is always at 4.
Okay, okay.
Well, it shows you how much I know.
Yeah.
Who we got?
What you call him at?
Where, uh, Tarva?
Tarva. Tarva in town?
Yeah.
Because he hit me last night.
He talked about he wanted to...
Yeah, he told me the same thing.
He told me, oh, I'm not even here.
He must have got...
How are you talking about you?
How are you talking about you want to be on and you ain't even here?
That's what he told me.
Let me see.
I need to hit another 50.
You said that to Rio?
You said that to Rio?
What you sent me?
In my DM.
That explains it.
Yeah.
We're good.
Yeah, I agree.
Whatever y'all are talking about.
But it ain't going to be the same.
What we got to talk.
What y'all want to talk about?
I want some more hot dogs.
I saw people walking out there with floaties and the...
No.
Hell no.
Man, you know what?
I hope...
What do we see last time?
We, uh...
But Joe, we went to the fight.
We saw Bax Holloway.
he was fighting somebody and all he did was get olivera
and all olivera did was take him down
I hope we don't get those fights like that Joe where
it was all hype like oh yeah we're going to see it
we're going to see some action and we don't see no action
but I think but I definitely think
Connor and Garcia are going to be some action
yeah absolutely
and and and the little guy that just came on
it yeah it's going to be some action
with them first couple rounds they're going to be fillouts
you got to you they're going to try
They ain't coming out swinging.
Like Tyson.
That's why I asked Con.
I said what version are we, I mean, what version are we going to get?
You're going to come out guns are blazing, or you're going to come out methodical
and feel him out the first couple rounds?
So I'm matching his energy.
Yeah.
So they're going to come out.
And Ryan, Ryan liked to be the aggressive sometime.
When he fought, that's how he made that mistake against tank.
Yeah.
Trying to be too aggressive.
Walk right into something.
Twice.
I think he learned from those experiences.
So, you know what I mean?
I think he's going to come out of.
little more discipline.
He'll still, you know,
obviously throw that,
that hook trying to get him out of that.
But I don't got them coming.
I don't got neither one of them coming out
just brawling right off dump.
Probably about third round,
fourth round,
probably when you start seeing some guys really,
you know, mixing it up.
Yeah.
Or when the crowd, you know,
sometimes the crowd get anxious,
get anxious.
And they be like,
they start going.
Yeah, yeah, man.
Hey, it don't take long.
It don't take long.
They don't want to see all that,
that feeling out here we are
in the third or fourth round
that we ain't really seen no punches.
Everybody just fanked.
and moving around.
Yeah, throwing them fank...
Nah, no, no, you hate.
Hey, let your hands go.
We want to see people
letting their hands go.
Yeah, yeah.
It's going to be some action.
With then.
They fight right here?
Yeah, they're in your gym.
Yeah.
Oh, this one I'm talking about this.
Hey, you know what?
Boy, I'm like, what, you're all right with me.
We ain't got to do no more come downstairs.
That's it.
Come on, man.
Come on, man.
That's it.
No, it's going to be a...
I think it's going to be an outside, exciting fight.
I want to see the basketball play a fight.
I do too.
You know what?
I do too, man.
I do too.
That man got 18-K-0 over the 19 weeks.
He did.
He did say he got flat line at one time.
He said, I got a flat line, so I want to see what he got.
But I like that because, you know what?
He's like, hey, I got stopped.
I got knock, not cold.
Yeah.
He ain't tried to hide.
He ain't try to run away from it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got 19 wins.
And I got 18 knockout 19 wins.
But, hey, nobody got the best of me, too, though.
Yeah, yeah, hey, to have 18 knockouts with 19 wins, yeah.
Boy, you ain't playing.
You put pressure on for them.
All that is, it's also getting knocked out could be a good thing.
And I got to go to the drawing board.
I got to go fix some things.
Damn, man, I ain't trying to get knocked out.
No.
I want that old next to my name.
Well, you might want to be careful over here then, Joe.
Who, who, me and you?
I'm just saying you say you don't want to get knocked out.
Yeah, nah, that ain't going to happen, old Joe.
I'm going to keep the old next to my name.
Okay. I mean, the only
O you, I mean, you're talking about the J, I mean, after
when you spell Joe, you know, it's like,
you know, a J, Jay, Jay.
You know?
Okay, okay.
You're going to see it.
Because a lot of times, you know,
I'm anxious to see what type of rhyme
we're going to get. Because sometimes, you know,
he's like real laid-back, real lethargic,
melancholy. And a lot of times,
because I called him a couple of weeks ago,
and he was upbeat. I mean, if you guys
check out the interview on.
on club, Jay, Jay, Jay, God.
Man, he was, he was full till, Joe.
Yeah.
Full till.
And you know what?
When I was watching that, I was wondering, was he, some of the stuff he was saying,
okay, Ocho, was he just trying to get attention?
Because he would call him some cats out.
Oh, yeah.
Like, he would.
He liked that, though, for real.
He wasn't even like that.
Yeah.
But you got to give him credit, though.
And he's one of the few, Ocho, that he's fought a lot of people.
He falls tank.
He fought Devon.
he fought
Roley
Yeah
He's fighting
Conner Bean
He ain't
Hey you can say what you want to say
He ain't ducking nobody
Yeah he ain't back
He ain't coming up with them excuses
Nope
He said he wants to fight to you
Say he's gonna fight Tio Fimo
If he does that
If he wins this fight here
And he beat Tio?
I think it'll be a great fight
I was just
I was disappointed with Roli
Roli had us man
Roli then sold us
came on there
So had us hook, line, and sinker, man told us,
you should have been more impressed with, uh, who, who, who, Role?
He Fimo, yeah.
Yeah.
Because I thought he fought a great fight.
He did.
Yeah.
He did.
He fought great.
He had that one round to where Roel got on, that round, that fifth round, outside of that.
Outside of that, you really do much.
That boy was coming forward the whole fight.
And what you called?
And Roller didn't seem like he had, it seemed like Rowling was just trying to catch it with the check.
Yeah.
Would he called Garcy?
Would he called Garcia?

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinheiro and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us.
Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip,
I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or

This is Prose Society, the weekly podcast that's part book club, part group chat for thought
daughters, pop culture obsessives, and anyone who thinks pride and prejudice and love island
deserve the same level of discourse.
I'm Eli Rallo, and every week we're connecting the dots between books, the internet, and the
conversations everyone can't stop having.
I'm going to have to look up this story.
I'm obsessed.
From bestselling authors and your favorite book talk creators to the latest pop culture moments, nothing is off the table.
It's like if you can hide some real messages inside compelling characters, then that is a Trojan horse.
Whether you're looking for literary deep dives, smart pop culture conversations, or a community of readers who love to think a little too much, you're in the right place.

Have you guys heard of faux journaling? Yeah, it's reading. It's called reading. So we don't like to use
that word anymore. Okay. A panel.
of New Yorker cartoonists.
Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?
No!
I've been dying too.
I'm so sorry.
I'm seeing a reading of Sadako
in the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald's
at the Wonderland Bookstore on 14.
That's crazy.
I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday
and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark 30.
No way.
You have to come to the last bookstore, though.
Kim Cottrell is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday.

And we do a little Halloween sometimes.

We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run,
bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own
to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening all this end up.
We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying,
and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
From screen time to identity to the father's doing the work at home.
We have to get off her device.
But the reality is there's a lot of life out there
that we don't want you as your adults in their lives to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.
Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.

Yeah.
He got a nice little check hook now.
Yeah.
Hey, that boy, Rolid Connect.
Boy, you're going down now.
Oh, you're ever-handed.
But, hey, it's all good, though.
We got three more.
Hey, the game comes on in like an hour and a half after we get off,
and then we got another two of a half hours.
Game come on at five?
The game come on at five.
Four thirty-five o'clock?
Five o'clock?
Yeah, I thought it was.
Hey, what time is the game tonight?
What time is the game?
Five-35 or four-35?
Five-35?
Yeah, five-thirty-five?
I'm going to get me a nap.
I need a good old 45 minutes.
You go to 45 minutes.
And then I'll be good.
I'd be good to be able to go two and a half hours.
Sunday,
make sure you get your good nap in, Joe.
I already know.
I already know.
Or get you some espresso.
I don't know if you drank coffee or the energy drink.
Because I'm going to have a lot to say.
I can't worry about it.
And Bango will put it by 42 points.
I'm telling you that.
It's going to be a beautiful day.
Oh, you think so?
I know so.
Okay.
Tamp ain't going to know what hit him.
You said they're going to put about 42.
42, Joe.
Damn.
Huh?
What we got, what we got, chat?
What would y'all like to talk about, chat?
I feel.
We wait, no, we got, Ryan's supposed to be here at 2.30, so which is about a minute to wait.
So, you ever take a couple of minutes.
Wing on.
Because he was on, they said no.
I feel like going.
Maybe, no.
Go.
Who?
Shane Mosley.
Okay, that's work.
Shane fought everybody, too.
Yeah.
I'll whip Shane, too.
This is what you did?
Good night, uh, if you left Winky right alone.
Winky, it's tough winning, man.
Yeah, Winky.
And Vernon Forrest, rest his soul.
Yeah.
We got Shane Moseley joining us in a few minutes, chat.
Sugar Shane.
Yeah, making this way down here.
Man, watch it.
Shane, when he fought Day La Jolla.
I came to that flight with Mayweather fought Day La Jolla, Cho.
Did you go to the fight?
That was a good one, too, boy.
What about when Shane fought?
No, I ain't go to that.
With he fought, Mayweather, no.
I think I saw him fought when he fought Corrales.
Saw Tyson fight a few times, Holyfield.
Yeah?
You been to Tyson fight in person?
I know that was a time, yeah, boy.
Boy, ain't nothing like it.
Ain't nothing like.
You got a heavyweight, the buzz,
matter of fact he uh he fought frank bruno
doc frank bruno out oh yeah
i remember that
that was in
April that was April of 96
I'm dripped in
what? What?
I can be... What you're doing when you get done with this?
Go into bed? Uh yeah
no I'm gonna go eat I'm gonna go to soul food cafe
Oh even you just had them three dogs
Yeah Joe I gotta take care of this
Joe I got to feed the body Joe
There's a reason I look like this, what
Like a prayer man is with a golf
You know
Hey Joe
I know you see it
But I'm cut up right
I see I see I mean it look kind of small right now
Because I'm playing soccer every Sunday
So it's hard to keep that weight on
Yeah
But if I ain't had I'd be
If I wasn't playing soccer I'd be about 220 right now Joe
Yeah
Yeah you see I just I just whipped that 80 straight
That was 80 Joe
You know that kind of condition
You got to be able to do that
I didn't tell him he did 80 straight
That was
I mean that was
I don't know
That about 65
George how many out here
That was about 65 70
Yeah
Straight through
Don't lie to him George
It was
That's how many it was
I know I did 50
And I heard Daniel was watching that
I went by the extra 20
You see what I'm saying
Yeah
I went by the extra 20s
Let him know I was in shape
Just in case
That conversation
But we want you to get in a ring
Man let's go man
You got to control
Nightcap everything
Got to control
That breathing
I'm coming in
nightcap boxing
the robe
yeah
hey
hey hey
hey hey
hey hey
hey
hey
Joe
telly
you're going to walk me out
because
we go
hey aunt
no you push
uncle
on my
ring walk
man
talking about
pushing your
guy out of the
wheelchair
I got you
I got you
I bet you
ain't get there
don't worry
about
I'm already
be in my seat
Joe
we're going to
have a good time
I'm already
be in my seat
oh
I do expect dynamite
You're undercar
What time
I think is at T-Mobile
What
The fight
I thought you said it was here
At T-Mobile
Whatever right down the street down there's
Yeah, there ain't nowhere
I think we're gonna get some dynamite
What you mean
On the fight
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
What time you're trying to go
Y'all let me know
You know some of them undercar fight now
They be
Hey them poor be cause of hell
Man, Joe.
Okay, ain't trying to see that shit.
I ain't trying to see them.
You're trying to get that for the main event.
Nah, no, no, no, no.
I'm going to get there earlier than that,
but I ain't trying to see three fights.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm with you.
I'm with you.
I'm with you.
They ain't going to fight.
Hey, Ryan coming for real shoot.
Ryan, Ryan missed the face-off shoot.
He's standing us up, man.
We're going to have a squabble.
You said he what?
He didn't even show up to the face-off.
He did?
He did?
He did.
He moved to the beat his own drone on the man.
He do.
He do.
He does.
that he was going to come on nightcap
if he won when he won he didn't say
yeah he said win
then he told me he gonna get
he gonna tell me I'm gonna get
I'm gonna get Shakur for you
because I ain't like how he disrespected you
up
huh
hey
you think him and Shakur fight
what he said
he doesn't understand
is that how some
Shakura say he could fight at
147 but he won't fight
Devin at 147 he won't catch weight
he said he's done
He said he's done with the 40 catchway.
He said 47.
Say he's looking to fight 47 and 54.
Come on, he won't boots.
I say, man, you better sit down.
You know, all them, they're much bigger than Shakur, though.
Yeah.
They just naturally bigger than him.
Hell, everybody, what you call other than packing, y'all, was bigger than Mayweather.
Yeah.
I mean, you look at Mayweather now.
Mayweather walking around, Mayweather probably like 155.
Easy.
Maybe.
And that's heavy.
Yes.
Yes.
because he's still in there on the bag
he's still hitting the miss
he's still in the ring
so
he's a he's a
love the sport of boxing
yeah
yeah it's paid him well
you know it's paid off well for him
but he's a guy that
just loves boxing
loves being around boxing
loves talking boxing
loves everything about the sport of boxing
we've been told that Shane Mosley
is on the way
hopefully he's going to
gets here before 255.
What's that 255?
We leaving.
I don't know when he got the 255, but I'm doing it.
I don't know what he got going on, but I know what I got going on.
You say he got to get that big boy now.
Yeah, yeah.
That was funny.
I got to get an hour.
Then I'll be good to go.
This normal, all right, map time right here.
230 to 3.30.
Get up, eat.
What do you go do?
Go gamble?
Me?
I think I'm going to get me a little workout in.
Get you a little workout in?
Yeah.
Drink me, give me a little coffee with a couple shots of espresso.
What kind of work out you getting, Joe?
I'm going to get on this treadmill.
Okay, and you saw me and I inspired you, huh, Joe?
No, I'm going to cardio.
I need to, you know, I ain't.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Joe.
I get back down the pipping size, you know what I'm saying?
Huh?
What did you go?
You jogging yet?
Yeah, I jog, so I turned an incline up to like eight.
Right.
and I walk the first mile.
But I go up like every 25,
so I probably finish around like 11
with that thing up.
So then I take it down about 6
and then I sprint the next mile,
meaning I do 30 seconds on, 30 seconds on,
so I get up to about 10, 12 sprint.
Yeah, that's a good one.
I like that.
Shoot, I will come work out with you,
but I got my good stuff on.
I see, I say, go on do your thing, man.
I don't want to get in the way.
You know, I know you.
You go, you go, you go, you know.
Yeah.
I appreciate that.
Joe. You're a good dude, right?
I ain't for the whole nobody.
I'm pretty good enough. That's what I'm doing.
In order for me to make sure I'm good to go for the game, watch the game.
And got nightcap of the night.
Them doubles. I got a double tomorrow too because I got this and then I got
Shayshay.
Shay.
Yep.
Yeah.
And then we got college football.
Then we got NFL Sunday.
Then we got Monday.
Who playing Monday?
Broncos, Kansas City.
Oh, yeah.
You know what?
I got the Broncos that game, too.
Yeah.
You sure.
My home's just coming out of ACL.
Come on, Ocho, that man ain't going to be it.
You think he's going to be out there, Will & Dillon.
Hey, the 50% of Mahomes better than a half the league outside of the elite players.
It ain't going to beat that defense the Broncos got.
You know we don't.
And with an undrafted left tackle, an undrafted the free of the left tackle,
Benito will have about two or the half.
Okay.
And.
I'm going to watch the game.
at the cigar bar, man.
That ain't Andre Ward right.
That ain't Drey right there, is it?
Where, man?
Oh, no, that's...
Nah, you triven, bro.
That's, um...
Who are you looking at, Ocho?
Right there, on a step and repeat.
Nah, bro.
Now, who is that on a step and repeat?
That's Sean Porter.
Yeah.
That's Sean Porter right there?
On the step and repeat right there?
No.
What?
Somebody in the chest said
Chad Shores came with a pink umbrella.
Hey, man, y'all stopped playing,
me, man.
Playing these golf shorts, man.
Y'all hate them.
They're definitely not
conducive for sitting down.
Nah, they're not.
He's golf.
And boy, they don't want to see,
they ain't want to see me on that,
on that golf.
On that golf,
so you can't hold that left arm straight, Joe.
Yeah, I can.
Oh, you see, you see me in action.
Don't act like you.
Don't act like you.
You don't act like you.
You see me in action.
You seen me acting.
You see how I get down.
I'm splitting up rights.
Like, I was like, I just got tired of hitting,
you know,
getting bombs, like,
Brandon Aubrey.
Brandon Aubrey going to pay out big for me this year.
You think so?
Yeah.
I hope he do.
I might be willing to let him go, Joe, for a nominal fee.
Man, you're trying to trade me Brandon Aubrey for hell, Pooker.
Come on, man.
James Cook.
For James Cook.
Hold on.
You want me to trade.
James Cook, my best running back for a kicker.
Look how the man tried to swindle me, bro.
Man, somebody took CJ in the second round, so I mean, the second pick.
Who was that?
Who got CJ?
I think that's, is that who I'm playing?
I think Stevie got.
Didn't Stevie take, uh, uh, CJ?
No, who took, who took, uh, C.J.
Stride.
Keytry.
Did he end up snaking me for Josh Allen?
Oh, yes, right.
That's right.
That's right.
That's right.
That's right.
Yeah.
Yeah, Christy got JSC in.
Yeah, he aren't.
Huh?
Me?
He got CD?
He won't poker.
He won't poker before the game jump off.
He's going to lie, boy, I wouldn't really mind making that trade, but, you know.
Yeah, I know.
It's early.
I mean, can I see what he do a couple weeks?
But the thing is, when CD go out, go out.
that doing it's one, two, now you ain't going to want to get up off of them.
You say it might be a, uh, might have to cost you a little extra.
To get CD?
Yep.
But why you need all them Dallas players though, Joe?
Come on, come on.
Here you go.
There you go.
You see you, you, you're getting the ball, your heart.
You're getting your heart involved.
I'm letting my, I didn't get CD.
I got Puka.
But you got the Dallas defense.
You got that?
That's all I got.
That's what I can get.
Our defense is going to be solid.
But you won't, CD.
Yeah, I do.
or CD. But the only thing is, if I, if, see, if I do get CD, then it's going to hurt me when
they had that by week. You know what I'm saying? Because I'm going to, you know, I ain't going
to have DAC or CD. That's okay. That's what you got backups for. Yeah, but I might just
keep what I got, man, you know. We're making work. You got backup, who your, who your backup wide
receivers? I got, uh, uh, uh, what's my boy from Houston, uh, Nico. I got Nico Collar. Yeah.
Yeah.
The question is, best riding, not start Nico, start CD,
and Nico go crazy.
You're going to be sick.
I got, uh, no, it depends on who they're playing, too.
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
I'm paying attention, though.
Because, boy, I win the fantasy football.
I don't know.
How y'all are going to get over that one?
You're not going to win, though.
Okay, see, I, okay.
What's up, bro?
Yeah, for sure.
What's on, bro.
You good?
Yeah.
Man, you don't got me in trouble talking crazy on the pod.
Man, I told you not to do that.
We had fun, right?
That is all that.
Listen, you are very, very comfortable before a very big fight.
You're very relaxed.
Thank you.
Why is that?
I think preparation is key, right?
Yeah.
I think I took all the necessary steps that I had to do
to make me feel this confident, this at peace.
Obviously, my faith in God always brings that sense of peace to me as well.
But with the training camp, everything went as it should be, and that makes you feel confident, you know.
So for the naysayers, for those on the outside, boxing analysts, pundits, the casual fans that are watching, they say you're not really focused on this fight, you know, calling out other fighters, you know, not showing up to a face off.
What do you have to say to them?
I move at my own sense of tune.
You know, I don't really move at what everybody else wants me to do.
Right.
What I think is the right move is the right move.
We have to see, you know, how you perform.
Everybody wants to make big things out of nothing.
Right.
But come fight night, I'm going to be as sharp as sharp can be,
so I'm not too worried about it.
I like it.
You predicted an early knockout in this fight.
What are you seeing technically that makes you so?
confident going into this fight?
I mean, he looks good, you know, when he's fighting, he's explosive and whatnot,
but you know when somebody's kind of a beginner in a way.
He's an athletic beginner.
So, you know, he's not at my, you know, level.
At this point, and it's not a shot at him.
He just don't have a lot of experience.
So we're going to make that real known for sure.
Okay.
But he's on here earlier.
He'd say he feel very calm.
and say whatever type of fight you want to fight, he's ready.
He could be confident.
He could be mad, sad, happy, whatever.
He's getting knocked out.
So what does it matter?
I don't care what he says.
It's like when somebody's talking shit about to play you in a video game,
when you know you're about a beat his ass cool.
You're goofy.
Once you get in there, you're going to lose, and then what?
Right.
He's just not as good as the game at the game than me.
Right.
What version of Ryan Garcia are we seeing?
Are you coming out aggressive?
Are you going to come out and feel him out,
feel him out the first few rounds,
set traps up in the early rounds,
to accomplish and execute him in later rounds.
What version do you think we're going to get?
You're going to see a violent version from the last fight.
So whatever you've seen, the last fight is going to be more violent,
Ryan Garcia.
Same focus, same sharpness.
Yes.
But that violentness to it is going to be amped up.
You'll see.
So you're setting the tone early?
Setting the tone early.
Yeah, he won't win one round.
I'm not going to let him win one round.
Damn.
So if you're going to think I'm going to let him just control it from the start and trying to be overly aggressive,
we're going to settle that boy down right away.
So he's not going to win around.
Ryan, the thing that I've given you credit for is like the one thing you can say about Ryan,
you might not like say he'd be talking too much and he's not as serious as he needs to be.
But you look at the fighters that you fought tank, you fault Rowley, you fought Devin, you fight in Conner Bean.
You're taking chances that other guys always talk about, oh, I'll fight this guy anytime or any place.
then come down to everybody be backing away from each other.
Why are you so confident that you're unafraid to fight anybody anytime, anywhere?
I just feel like I'm at, you know, such a high level, you know, since the amateurs,
what's there to fear?
You know, what's the worst thing that can happen to you?
You know, lose, okay, let's see, let's see why.
Or let's see who's the best, really, that's where it comes down to.
Who's the best?
You know, I want to face everyone.
I'm coming into my prime.
I think I took those fights
even when I wasn't
where I needed to be.
That's the difference, you know.
But for me, I've always had that heart
where when I watch the Nostka-Alo-Hoya fight,
when I watched the Floyd-May Weather fight,
when I watched the Bandy Pack-Yo fight,
you got a certain level of intensity and excitement.
I wanted to bring that to boxing.
I remember those feelings.
I remember everybody gathering up intense.
I wanted to bring that back to boxing.
So I took those chances.
But now I'm in the driver's seat.
I'm still looking for those big fights,
but now I have more maturity,
more understanding of what to do, what not to do.
Yeah.
So is speed still important in your fighting style
or has ring intelligence become more important since?
If you're doing things right, everything evolves.
Right.
You know, I'm blessed with speed.
So that's one of my advantages.
I just look at it as an advantage.
Right, right.
Everything else you've got to work on.
You know, timing, rhythm, execution, controlling distance, controlling range.
I got athleticism, I got power, and I got speed that I've been blessed with.
Yeah.
That I don't got to worry about.
Right.
Everything else got to work together, you know.
So it's just finding that right formula, finding that right, those right notes, and everything comes together.
Are we going to see the best Ryan Garcia that we've seen in the fight on Saturday night?
You damn right.
You damn right.
This is about to be nasty.
Oh my God.
I cannot wait.
They're really paying me to beat up a beginner, bro.
This is crazy.
You paying me to beat up a beginner.
I got a question.
You say you're going to win this fight.
You say he's not going to win a round.
If there was a name out there that you want to see after this fight,
is there somebody you can say that you would love the fight after you win this kind of been a fight?
Oh, yeah.
I want to unify against Teufima Lopez.
Teo.
Teo.
I need that.
I've always wanted to run that since the amateurs.
He's the only one I didn't get to fight in the amateurs.
Yes.
And I remember his dad, you know, even when I would win national titles,
I would hear his dad talking to other coaches.
Ryan Garcia ain't got no style.
Ryan Garcia, he's not really good.
He's been talking shit about me since I was eight, nine.
So you're going to really, I need that.
I need that more so to shut his dad up.
Because I know what his dad thinks of me.
I know what they think of my style.
They never thought I had a style.
They never thought I was going to be good.
but, you know, now we meet up,
and now we got to see what your son really can do
against a guy that don't have style
that don't got their skills.
I'll beat the brakes off of a tail of emo, bad.
I'll beat the brakes off him, spank him.
I love.
Old ass whipping.
Bow, bow, bow, bow, bow.
Ah, ah.
Crazy shit.
You see it real comfortable.
So Wade's not going to be an issue this time.
It never, it wasn't last time.
147 I'm really, really comfortable at.
I won't say really comfortable at everybody got to cut weight,
but it's a weight that is manageable.
Manageable.
I'm here to reign as a 147 pound champion.
We heard him saying he's moving up regardless.
That tells me two things.
One, he don't plan on making weight this fight,
or he's setting up an excuse.
Those are the two things I see.
Hey, what does the public misunderstand about Ryan Garcia?
bro. I mean, you don't get here without focus.
Hello.
You know, I'm very detailed in everything I do from the way I box to what I wear to how I pose
to what I do.
Yeah.
You know, everything's very specific.
So they're just, they kind of see me as a jokester, but it's all fun of game still.
You get in their ring.
For this time to fight.
Until it's time to really go.
Yeah.
Very strategic.
Yeah.
Very strategic.
Right.
Best of luck, man.
Appreciate you, man.
Appreciate your time.
man. Appreciate to sit down. We'll see you.
Hey, nightcap after you win the fight.
Yeah, nightcap, yeah, let's do it.
We'll take some of that conia.
Or bet.
Yeah, yeah, we got to have a drink. You'd have one last time.
All right now. Bette.
What you know?
Bet.
Hey, one thing he ain't lacking in, no confidence.
I was talking about it. He's bringing that thunder.
He ain't playing.
To be a ride about it, and I got an opportunity to sit down with him.
I got 75 minutes of his time.
Yeah.
A couple of weeks ago, man.
He'll fun do.
He opened his house up.
So, Ryan, I appreciate that.
You invited me and my team into your home to sit down for that interview.
We greatly appreciate it.
It's up now on Club Shay-Shay, the Ryan Garcia and myself, the interview sitting now.
What's up, bro?
And so, guys, thank you.
That does it for us here at Radio Row.
We'll see all the night.
