Starting point is 00:04:43 Visit BoostMobile.com for full offer terms and suite details. And now I get back to my boring old day job. Head over to your nearest Boost Mobile store and make the most out of your tax refund. Back to basketball. The Magic beat the Celtics 95-93. Franz Wagner was dominant. 32 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and he did it. He's guarding JB and JT. they pull it's now 2-1
Starting point is 00:05:25 with another game in Orlando. Jason Tatum was 10 of 22, 36 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists. Derek White, 16 points. Jalen Brown, 19 points. But those big guns,
Starting point is 00:05:41 Paulo Banqueiro, 29 points. Franz Wagner gave you his stats, 32 7 and 8, Wendell Carter Jr. had 10 points, 10 rebounds as they hold on and win Joe what'd you like about what you saw from Orlando like I said, Wagner
Starting point is 00:05:58 and Bancaro they can match Tatum and Brown and when Tatum and Brown ain't got Poisinger or Pritchard going off, you know, it's tough. You know, Peyton Pritchard, he won six-man of the year, and he didn't give them none today. You know, 25 minutes, three points.
Starting point is 00:06:17 You know, Chase and Tatum had 36-9, but, man, they need probably a little more from JB. And Pritchard or White, you know, they need probably a little more from JB and Pritchard or White. You know, they look forward to them getting hot, but what's up with Drew Holiday? What do you heard? I'm not sure. They were 9-27 from the three, and that's
Starting point is 00:06:36 the thing with the Celtics. It's harder for them to win if they don't shoot you out the gym from the three, because a lot of their game is predicated on taking a bunch of threes and making a bunch of them. So we'll take 50. We'll take 55, 63. If we can make 22, 23 of them, we like our chances. There are not very many teams that can consistently match the Celtics
Starting point is 00:06:53 from the three-point line. They took the most. They made the most threes in NBA history, and their record speaks for itself. And I think that's what makes them tough because you're right. They got JB. They got JT.
Starting point is 00:07:10 They also have a Przingas that can give you mid-20s, maybe even 30. You see Derek White can go off. He can make 7, 8, 9, 10 threes. Peyton Pritchard, we see Peyton Pritchard score 40 points in a ballgame.
Starting point is 00:07:23 So they got guys that can go fuego and get hot and shoot you out of the building. It's going to be very interesting to see what the matchup is. Jalen Brown says the refs are letting the magic play too physical. There might be a fight breakout or something because it's starting to feel like it's not even basketball. And the refs are not controlling their environment. So it is what it is. If you want to fight out there, we can do that. We can fight to see what goes in the second round.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Do you like what JB having to say, Joe? I do. I do. I like what he got to say. I mean, they competing at a high level, man. Like I say, this is physical basketball at this point. The only thing that's going to change in any of these games is the physicality. It's like guys being physical, not letting you cut to the real Ocho.
Starting point is 00:08:11 You know, everything you do, you know, we're going to touch you. It's going to be physical. We're not going to let you do nothing easy. We're going to create havoc and cause discomfort. And that's what Orlando was doing. Look, I like to see Ben Carroll and Wagner shooting 25 and 27 field goals, even though they made 10 and 11, but that lets me know they're being
Starting point is 00:08:30 aggressive, going to the rim, and they're going to cause pressure. You know what I mean? Well, guys got to help. Now they can get guys easy shots. Boston got their work cut out, man. Boston got their series done. I think the thing,'s plus, Joe,
Starting point is 00:08:45 is that I like because they should take half the damn shots. They're the two best players. You're right. Why somebody else trying to pitch in and say,
Starting point is 00:08:53 hey, man, y'all take 25, y'all took 27, let me get 18. Hell nah. Under 10. Yeah, but you see that from time to time.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Like, now we're in the playoffs, every possession is valued, and these guys are taking the initiative to come down, initiate the offense,'re in the playoffs, every possession is valued and these guys are taking the initiative to come down, initiate the offense, getting, you know, whether it's running ISO post-ups
Starting point is 00:09:10 or just, you know, getting into the paint, you know, just causing havoc. It's going to make them a better team and they're making Boston guard, like I say, Boston already complaining that the series has been too physical.
Starting point is 00:09:22 You look, JT went down with a wrist injury in game one, then playing game two. Now, I've seen JB go down with a little injury today, too. So, this is how it's going to be for the rest of the series. They understand being physical is in their favor,
Starting point is 00:09:37 meaning, you know, Belendo. And plus, and plus, and plus. Hold on. Hold on. And plus, JB was in foul trouble a little bit tonight, too. I think that didn't help their situation. But when you're dealing with Ben Carroll, who's a big-body guy,
Starting point is 00:09:52 he likes to play physical. He's a bumper car type of guy. He's going to bang you and bang you and bang you and get to that right shoulder and turn around on you. Franz Wagner is a skill to skill. He can play. Now, the problem that they had this year, I think they'd have had a better record.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Bankero got hurt. Wagner got hurt. And sometimes those injuries overlap. But if you go back and look at them when they play together, oh, they for real. Those young guns for real. I love Bankero. He can really play.
Starting point is 00:10:24 You know, Wagner, his brother is hurt. You know, he was playing early in the year. Like, they down a major piece, but, man, are they scrappy, bro. They crank. Look, I seen little Anthony Black pick Peyton Pritchard on full court, pick his pocket. You know what I mean? Like, nothing comes for Ojo.
Starting point is 00:10:42 As soon as the ball come in, 94 feet. I'm right at your neck. I'm pressuring you. Yeah. Hey, this is the playoffs, man. This is what it's about. So, look, Orlando is competing at a high level. They're going to protect their home, and they're going to make it tough for Boston, man.
Starting point is 00:10:54 It's not going to be no easy series. Hold on, hold on. You say it's not going to be an easy series if they continue to be scrappy, if they continue to play physical. Do you even give the Magic a chance to beat or even win this series, or are you just saying he's just going to make it close and interesting? No, I think they're going to make it close and interesting. I can't see them beating in seven games, no.
Starting point is 00:11:14 But I can see Boston winning 4-2. Yeah, I can see that. Oh, so you're just giving the Magic two games, even with the way they're playing? Yeah, but I think Boston is the better team. Yeah. And normally the better team, it will play out over series.
Starting point is 00:11:32 That's what you get when you talk about when you play series. You got to beat somebody four times. It's not like football is one and done. And sometimes the one, the best team doesn't always win, but the team that plays the best that day. Absolutely. So, yeah, for me, I think I can see, be very interested in how this thing shape up.
Starting point is 00:11:50 Now, Orlando get that game, and now they go back to Boston 2-2. Put the pressure on Boston. Yeah. Yeah. Put them under pressure. That'll make it interesting. The Bucs, first time in Milwaukee Bucs history, they had two players score 35 points or more.
Starting point is 00:12:09 They got 37th, a career-high playoff from Gary Trent Jr., knocked down nine three-pointers, matching Ray Allen's Bucs record of nine. Giannis was Giannis. He gave you 37. He was 37, 12, and 6. Gary Trent Jr. was 37.
Starting point is 00:12:29 With three rebounds, no assists. He's like, bro, I'm just going to shoot it. I ain't helping nobody else. Get your own basket. Hey, listen. Go ahead, Joe. They needed every bit of that 37 for Gary Trent. You know, see, my problem with Milwaukee is
Starting point is 00:12:44 Dame coming off this calf injury, man, my problem with Milwaukee is, you know, Dame coming off this calf injury, man, he not going to be able to play at no high level for no, you know, I think by having him out there, it's just a D court, but you know, he can get high. He can make some shots, but I think with that calf injury, it's limiting him to how he's ultimately going to be able to perform
Starting point is 00:13:00 or help Milwaukee move on in this series. So, Gary Trent, he won this game for them tonight, man. He was on fire. He was. He was. And plus, if you look at Indy, when they don't have all their starters, normally their starters somewhere between 12 and 25, 26 points.
Starting point is 00:13:20 And then they have a guy or two off the bench in double figures. Look, they got Pascal Siakam has been playing well. Aaron Neesmith had 18. Miles Turner only gave him six. He normally gives you somewhere between 14 and 20. Yeah. Nembhard only gave you six. He normally in double figures.
Starting point is 00:13:37 Yeah. Obi Toppin, he gave you 10. He didn't play bad. He didn't shoot well from the three. So, Mathurin, he only gave you nine. And so, that, you're going to open yourself up. If you guys don't play like you normally play, and you'll get a situation where you get Giannis.
Starting point is 00:13:57 They don't have anybody that can do anything with Giannis. But you can't let Gary Trent Jr. go get 37 because now you allow Giannis to bring somebody along with him. Giannis had seven assists. Remember the other time he had like one or two assists. You see, when he gets to 36-12 and he dishes out seven or more assists, you have your hand full because they can beat you now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:20 I need Halliburton to be a little more aggressive for Indiana, though. Let him field goal attempts. You know Dame, little hobble. You got to make a little more aggressive for Indiana, though. 11 field goal attempts. You know Dame, a little hobble. You got to make him work on both ends of the floor. Outside of that, Miles Turner, I mean, one for nine, that hurt him. Yeah, for sure. That hurt him. But yeah, y'all is going to need somebody to step up pretty much every game.
Starting point is 00:14:42 You know y'all is going to give you 35, 40 points a night. Yeah, Trent Jr. is going to give you 35, 40 points a night. Yep. You and Trent Jr. are going to be able to hold this up, or if they ain't going to give us one of them, you know, virtual hostels performances. But, man, hey, hey, hey, he going to need some help. But I like the bench, though. I like, you know, Bobby coming off with that.
Starting point is 00:14:58 You know, he's pretty much fine-tuned now because he's been absent for a while. He just got back with the team. So, I feel like the Bucs can make this a series for sure. Yeah, I agree. Don't tell us a lot. They better get game four because if they don't get game four, they're not going to go to India
Starting point is 00:15:18 and win. Yeah, I got them getting game four. I got them getting game four. Because Milwaukee didn't get anything from Brook Lopez. As you mentioned, Dane was 2-12, 1-8 from three. He gave you seven points. Torian Prince, he only played three minutes. He gave you ten points.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Jericho Sims played four points. Kevin Porter Jr., 0-5, he gave you one point. Green gave you 12. But it was the big gun. It was Giannis at the top and Trent Jr. at the bottom, and really not much sandwiched in between, but they were able to build ability. Because when I
Starting point is 00:15:54 started watching the game, Indy was up by 10. Yeah. I turned back, and they were down by 10. I'm like, well, what the hell happened? And I mean, y'all talk about by 10. I'm like, well, what the hell happened? Y'all talking about this game. I was on the airplane. Hey, you missed a good game, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:16:12 It was a good game. It was a good game. I don't know. Milwaukee needed this, bro. They needed some confidence because Indiana can't be normal. You know what I mean? They need confidence going in the game four now and try to really make this a series going back to Indiana tied up.
Starting point is 00:16:29 You know, like I say, hopefully Dame gets better, you know, day by day. And he's, you know, probably get him a little more offensively because, man, they, Giannis is going to definitely need him for sure. Starting point is 00:17:50 shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core.
Starting point is 00:18:12 It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide and hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today.
Starting point is 00:19:33 The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. Muhammad Ali was never afraid to express himself loudly and boldly and stays true to form in Ali and Me, an eight-part Audible original. Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy through never-before-heard audio recordings
Starting point is 00:20:14 and discussions with those who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction, those convictions never wavered. Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey, Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life
Starting point is 00:20:41 through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas. It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know. As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity. There's no debate that this is
Starting point is 00:21:02 the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible. Dylan Brooks called Draymond Green a dirty player and defended his teammate, Iman Thompson, who upended Jimmy Butler in Game 2
Starting point is 00:21:24 forcing him to leave the game due to injury. No, I think dirty player is Draymond. Giving him a little push as the regular basketball players do. And Jimmy's fighting in the air for a rebound and stuff happens. Amin's not a dirty player. And he has nothing to do and it has nothing to do with being a dirty player. Jimmy's questionable for Game 2. Joe, I know you saw the play.
Starting point is 00:21:46 It seemed like Jimmy's going up for a ball. He got both hands on the ball. Somehow, Aiden Thompson loses his balance, submarines him, and with nothing to brace, bop. Well, I know that. That's a good bone break. Man, it's going to take a minute for him to recover from that look I don't think it was a dirty play
Starting point is 00:22:07 I think a man Thompson was just playing hard competing he was trying to get in there and just cause and make a play and end up getting pushed you know kind of into like Jimmy Butler which kind of took him out it's like dang it's like
Starting point is 00:22:22 the littlest thing that can happen in the playoffs man the swing of series you know what I mean? And the Warriors without Jimmy, man, it's going to be tough, man. It's going to be tough, you know, against that Rockets team. Hey, look, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fight or a wrestling match
Starting point is 00:22:36 throughout this series, right? I'm looking forward to it, actually. There's a lot of borderline stuff going on out there in the first couple games, Uncle Ojo. Yeah. Hey, that goddamn Draymond, that Draymond funny boy.
Starting point is 00:22:51 He funny, man. Hey, he scrappy, he scrappy with it too. He don't even care. He don't care who you are. He finna get it in every time. I like that. Look, that's the thing about it, Joe, you keep saying is that it's the finality of it because there is no more tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:23:07 It's not, okay, we lost Orlando, we down to Miami, then we're going to hit Atlanta, and you know what I'm saying, we're going to go to Charlotte. Ain't none of that. You lose these four games and it's over. It's over. You see your season's over and, you know, you're going to Cancun or whatever you do before you start, whatever you do before you start back getting ready
Starting point is 00:23:26 for the grind of some of the way. Guys not playing some league before you start the preseason games, before you get back into the regular season come October. So guys are going to play hard. Guys are going to play extremely hard. And I don't really have no problem with that. No, me neither.
Starting point is 00:23:42 I enjoy it, actually. But that is why it's been a lot of injuries pretty much, you know, throughout this postseason. Guys are competing at a high level, bro. You look at the,
Starting point is 00:23:51 you know, maybe we'll get to it at the Memphis game. What happened to Ja? But go ahead. Yeah. Jimmy is questionable for game three. Ja Morant will miss game four against the Thunder.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Ja injured his hip after taking a hard fall during game three. Down 3-0 in the series. Grizzlies face elimination without their best playmaker, their best player, and the 2024-25 season could be over. Late in the second quarter on Thursday, Memphis was up by 27 when Scottie Pippen Jr. dropped off a pass to Morant on the fast break.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Lou Dort was chasing Pippen, slipped as he turned over and crashed into airborne Morant on the fast break. Lou Dort was chasing Pippen, slipped as he turned over and crashed into airborne Morant. A lot of people said it was dirty and a lot of people said Dort slipped. Joe, you saw this play. Accident, slippage, dirty. I think he slipped, man. He was anticipating on going up
Starting point is 00:24:40 for the block on Pippen, but he caught himself because he caught the drop back to Ja. And he just slipped, man. He slipped and, you know, Ja went up, obviously, and came down with a crash landing. And it's very unfortunate because I had Memphis winning that game. They had total control of the game.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They was up at that point by 27. Hey, and the one thing that's very glaring to me, you know, when I look at game one, Memphis was so, it was like they was flat. You know, they ain't really had
Starting point is 00:25:08 and they got blew out by 57 points. Okay, cool. Game two, John come back. You see how aggressive he is? I need him shooting at least 25 shots.
Starting point is 00:25:16 I don't care if he don't make but six or seven or eight of them. But the fact that he's that aggressive puts pressure on him. It puts pressure on him to where you can open up and give Bangs easy threes or easy, you know, kick out for threes.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Or Jen or big fella JJ, him and Edie, you know, the way you can throw lives to those guys. They cannot stay in front of John. He has to know that, man. He has to know that, you know, he got to go into that AI mode to where he's just ultra aggressive, relentless and getting to the cuffs. Putting the pressure on the referees to call for him to make plays because he's that talented, man, and they'll be a better team the more aggressive he is. But this is going to be a game.
Starting point is 00:25:55 They was going to win this game. Scottie Pippen Jr. gave him that kick that he needed, and you can tell he was starting to find his rhythm. And, man, just an unfortunate incident throughout the game. What'd you think, Ocho? Dirty play? Nah. It was falling off.
Starting point is 00:26:14 It wasn't dirty, especially something like that. I mean, I think all NBA players have respect for each other. And I know it's a playoff. I know everybody's playing physical. But you can see it. If you watch it again, especially if you watch it in slow motion, you can see it was an accident i know it's a playoff i know everybody's playing physical but you can see it if you watch it again especially if you watch it in slow motion you can see it was an accident and it's unfortunate i would i would like you know what they do you know what i don't like that nba players do it's similar when a pitcher hits a batter with the ball you see how he shows
Starting point is 00:26:37 no emotion no no apology no nothing he just just turns he's just very nonchalant i wish he was a little bit more you know what i'm sorry at least help him up he just turned turned He's just very nonchalant. I wish he was a little bit more, you know what, I'm sorry. At least help him up. He just turned away and just walked away. Oh, sure. They play out basketball, but we're not helping you up. We're not doing none of that. Yeah, I see. That's what I mean. So,
Starting point is 00:26:57 when he reacts like that, it makes it look as if, okay, I did it on purpose, and what? Right. Listen, we're not giving up no layups, none of them did it on purpose, and what? Right. Listen, we're not giving up no layups, none of them flashy ducks. Now, we're going to try to put nothing cheap, but we ain't trying to actually just hurt you.
Starting point is 00:27:12 You know what I mean? Nah, nah, nah. But yeah, we're going to make you, yeah, you can't come through here just ole-ing. Yeah, it's a good thing. When you don't show no kind of remorse, especially like that, understanding you're undercutting by accident you didn't mean to do it
Starting point is 00:27:27 but like no nothing no eye contact no just come on now I'll tell you a story we was in the locker room and one of the coaches spilled a drink in one of the guys locker and he came and man who the hell spilled a drink in my locker
Starting point is 00:27:44 man the dude said hey look D the hell spilled the drink in my locker man the dude said hey look d russ i spilled the soda in your locker i'm sorry that that's the end of that now what were you saying hey i'm sorry that's the end of that i had to go back and forth to do all this right that was a plan hey man look i did it i'm sorry that that's the end of that and i get you hey y'all hip him up he He ain't my teammate. I ain't helping his ass up. Right, right, right, right. I got it. I got it. I got it.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I got it. Oh, Joe, Joe. Warren Moon personally unretired the number one for Cam Ward, Pro Football Hall of Famer. Warren Moon, currently the only black quarterback in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, gave up his famous number one, gave his blessing and allowed Cam Ward
Starting point is 00:28:27 to wear the jersey previously retired by the Titans. Recently said it would consider giving this blessing to Ward to wear the digit. I'm thinking about it,
Starting point is 00:28:36 said Moon, when asked if he would allow permission to give Ward the number to Ward. Should Warren have felt pressure to do this on Joe? I wouldn't say pressure, but Cam Ward ward is special cam ward is a special player he's obviously he's coming to he's coming to the titans and why not continue that legacy why not continue that legacy that
Starting point is 00:28:56 warren moon set you know when he was there and allow cam that to carry that torch on you know wearing the number one as a new franchise quarterback hopefully for the next decade or so. I like it. It's a dope move. It's a dope move. I wouldn't have Cam even knew.
Starting point is 00:29:12 You didn't care? Yeah, I know. Yeah. Okay, okay. That would have been a dope surprise. But let me ask you this. I want to ask Joe.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Joe, you got your number retired. Somebody come in and they want to wear that. They want to wear Joe. They want to wear that. What you doing doing Joe? yeah I'm doing it if it's special
Starting point is 00:29:27 you know what I mean he's number one pick he been wearing the number one you know shout out to OG for you know taking out the Raptors letting young boy take off with it yeah I ain't I mean I don't got ego when it comes to that hold on hold on
Starting point is 00:29:44 Uncle Joe. We ain't just giving anybody that number. You got to be that boy. Yeah. And Cam Ward is that boy, so it's understandable. That's someone, you know what, majority number retired. But for him, oh, yeah, I'm good. I relinquish that.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Absolutely. Joe, you had seven numbers. Were you always seven, Joe? Nah, man. I wore number two. Because you weren't seven in Phoenix. Nah, look, I wore, I just got seven when I got to Brooklyn. But coming up, like, through junior high, high school, and college, I wore number 24.
Starting point is 00:30:20 So when I got to the pros, I got drafted by Boston. They ain't got no numbers. Yeah, every number, they got big numbers. 44, 55, everything. You can't get no single-digit number. 24, I have to question it. Man, they got so many numbers retired. So, look, the only number they had that I could get was 31.
Starting point is 00:30:37 So, I rocked with 31. Yeah, you had Corbin Bradd back as well, Jerry. Yeah, that's my guy, Corbin Bradd. Hey, look, I'm in the rafters out there at Boston, baby. 31. But I can trade it to Phoenix. I'm trying to get 24, but I'm playing with Tom Gugliotta. Tom Gugliotta got 24, so I ain't even asking for the two-fold.
Starting point is 00:30:54 You can go and keep it. Right. I'm just going to roll with this two. So I'll be rocking with number two all the way through Atlanta. And then when I got to Brooklyn, I just changed it up and went to seven. Oh, okay. Yeah. Okay. I'm like, damn, Joe Joh seven. Oh, okay. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:05 I'm like, damn, Joe, Joe had about, hey, they couldn't find Joe. They're like, what Joe? Joe, you two? You seven? 24, 31? Right. Hey, listen, man. I wanted one of them single digits in Boston.
Starting point is 00:31:17 When we get drafted, I'm like, okay, what number can I get? Can I get number 24? They start showing me all the numbers that was retired. I'm like, man. Oh, no. They got Sam Jones, Casey Jones, Heinsohn, Russell, Bird, Janis Johnson.
Starting point is 00:31:31 That's bad. They got Bob Cousy. They got Bill Sharman. They didn't retire so many numbers. I said, man. They got Double Zero retired. They got, what's it called, retired? They got Kevin McHale.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Robert Parrish. Yeah. They got Double Zero, 32, 33. I think Dennis Johnson, I think DJ was three. Yeah, he was. Yeah, they got DJ retired. They got Sam Jones, Casey Jones, Hamlet Check, Cowans. So anytime y'all go to Boston Arena,
Starting point is 00:32:05 y'all look up in the rafters, 31 up there, baby. That's like so Joe, baby. We sharing that thing. That's my man. Y'all already know. That's my man. Corb Red. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:32:18 Very, very touching, but heartbreaking story. Derek Harmon's mother, who had been on life support, sadly passed away after he arrived at the hospital and told her he had been drafted by the Steelers.
Starting point is 00:32:30 Our thoughts and prayers go out to Derek Harmon and his family and all those loved ones that were impacted by this tragic passing. Man, that's an unbelievable story. Think about it, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:32:39 He arrives at the hospital. Mom, I don't know if you can hear me or not. I finally did it. But your baby has been drafted to the Steelers. And later that night. That is, that's an unbelievable story.
Starting point is 00:32:57 For mom to be able to hear that and understand it at that point, my job is done. I can transition. I've done all I can. All the sacrifices, all the hurdles, the obstacles that I've had to make to ensure that you made it to this point. And that is you got drafted. I just needed to hear it. I just need to hear it. Now I'm at peace.
Starting point is 00:33:21 That's it. That's it. I mean, hey, she wanted to hear that and once she heard that she could go rest peacefully and he wanted to be able to deliver that message to tell his mom, mom,
Starting point is 00:33:34 you did it. Man. Everything that, you know, what we went through and what you told me and how you reared me, hey,
Starting point is 00:33:44 go rest easy, mama. Go rest easy. Also, I want to send out a very heartfelt hopefully it gets well soon, Elijah Arenas. Gilbert Arenas' son was in a car accident. It's being reported that he's
Starting point is 00:34:00 doing much better. I sent Gil a text. He said he's going to be okay, but that was so better. I sent Gil a text. He said, hey, he's going to be okay. But that was so sad. I could not believe it that this had happened. And man, you know, we had Gil here
Starting point is 00:34:14 and Gil's a great guy. He's doing an unbelievable job on Gil Arenas with his crew. Shout out, Gil. But I just want you to know that the Nightcap family and everybody over here
Starting point is 00:34:23 and everybody that's in this chat want to send our thoughts and prayers to you and hopefully your family. And Elijah is doing a lot better now. And so we're praying for a speedy recovery so we can see what he's going to do at USC. So we don't know if he's going to be one and done or maybe he got two because, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:39 this is a very serious injury. They put him in an induced coma. Hopefully he's resting comfortably. And, uh, Gail, I know you by the side. I know you,
Starting point is 00:34:49 you was worried, but you know, you, you, you, you sent me that you thought everything was going to be okay. So I just wanted to send out our thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Elijah speed,
Starting point is 00:34:58 speedy recovery. Sure. I talked to him too. He said, he told me he didn't have no serious injuries. So, okay, let's do it. Good. Roddy White has a pick for the Jags. If the Jags, I drafted to him, too. He told me he didn't have no serious injuries. So, let's do it.
Starting point is 00:35:05 Good. Roddy White has a pitch for the Jags. If the Jags outdrafted Shador, I call the Steelers and tell them I need three first-rounders for Trevor Lawrence, and I start the franchise fresh with Brian Thomas, Travis Hunter, and Shador Sanders. Ocho, you like that? I do. I do. I mean, listen.
Starting point is 00:35:25 I mean, it's not gonna happen obviously it's 3-1 for Trevor Lawrence oh you'll get at least two okay you'll get at least two
Starting point is 00:35:35 and another high draft pick hey but hey that's that ooh that'll be Kenya match mm-hmm
Starting point is 00:35:41 them two back together and Duvall Duvall. Du-vall. Man. They're going to give up on travel loans like that? Nah. Nah, absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I don't think they will. That's a great hypothetical. I like it. But that stadium and that Duvall, man, Jacksonville is going to be rocking. Woo-hoo. They'll be rocking. Made forhoo, they'll be rocking. Starting point is 00:38:06 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn.
Starting point is 00:38:57 In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you.
Starting point is 00:39:32 Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction. Those convictions never wavered. Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey,
Starting point is 00:40:01 Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith,
Starting point is 00:40:12 and Bob Costas. It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know. As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity. There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure
Starting point is 00:40:29 of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible. We'll find out. But I agree with you, Ocho. I don't think that's going to happen. All right, Ocho. We're think that's gonna happen alright Ocho we're gonna get out of here
Starting point is 00:40:46 on this one this is your last this is our last segment of the evening it's time for Q&A Q&A Lee Frazier said what is going on with Sanders
Starting point is 00:41:00 why are they doing him like this why must they treat black players like this and can we change this for future players? Nope. I get it. I get it. I get it. Because people look at Archie and Archie
Starting point is 00:41:18 basically said, my son is not playing in San Diego. I do not want my son in the AFC. Now, this is what's going to happen. I do not want my son in the AFC. Now, this is what's going to happen. And they see, you know, he ends up, they end up selecting, they trade him to the Giants. Chargers
Starting point is 00:41:36 select him, trade him to the Giants. The Giants select Phillip Rivers. They get another first-round pick. Yada, yada, yada. I get it. I get it. Yeah. It's just tough. It's just tough to see a guy that's rated this high and fall all the way out of the first three rounds um so yeah i don't know what it feels i i don't know what it is all i know is that what i saw what my eyes told me he had an unbelievable college career his two years he was sensational at CU. 37 touchdowns, over 4,000 yards, 70 plus 70, what, 74 percent, 70, mid-70, low 70.
Starting point is 00:42:13 Completion percentage. Completion percentage. Yeah. I don't know. No, but to answer your question, ain't nothing we can do because we're not in a position of selecting the players. All right. J.J. Carver said, my Saints passed over
Starting point is 00:42:25 Sanders, Melrose, Will Howard, Quinn Ewers, Dylan Gabriel, just to draft a quarterback been injured every year like Carr. Is an April Fool all month long? I'm surprised. Okay, they need a quarterback because of the injury with Derek Carr.
Starting point is 00:42:43 We don't know if he's going to be able to play, if he's going to be starting the season, the middle of We don't know if he's going to be able to play, if he's going to be starting the season, the middle of the season, or if he's going to be able to play. They don't select a quarterback in the first round. Okay. But the second round, they don't. And now, like the third you take. They will remind you at any given chance when they feel you're getting out of line.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Man, it's got to be more than that. Man, it's got to be fun. No, no, ain't no more than that. Ain't no more. Trust me, ain't no more than that because there's... We're going to humble you. If you don't want to do it on your own, we're going to do it for you.
Starting point is 00:43:28 If you don't want to do it on your own, we will do it for you. That's all. That's it. Nothing else. Samuel Griffin, should the Titans draft Shador and copy what Washington did with RG3 and Cousins? Could the 49ers be a good fit for Shador? No, because you're about to play Brock Purdy. Why would you pay a quarterback $200-plus million
Starting point is 00:43:54 and then draft a quarterback? No, I don't think Titans are going to do that because I think the Titans... The Titans really like Cam, and Cam's style is not like RG3's. RG3 was a scrambling quarterback, which leads to guys being injured. Right. So you got to weigh the options. Okay, here's a guy that has a style that could potentially lead to him getting injured.
Starting point is 00:44:24 So, no, I don't think the Titans are going to do what Washington did. And, no, I don't think the 49ers are a good fit for Shador. Frankie Rodriguez, listen, this is why Shador hasn't been drafted. Number one, he's only been coached by his father. Teams don't know if he can adapt to new coaches. A coach at a gym on the hot seat knows Deion is on deck. What you think, Ocho? I like that.
Starting point is 00:44:48 I like that. And I love, in regards to where he goes, if things aren't going well, especially as a team collectively, the rumors will start to swirl about Prime at some point coming to the NFL
Starting point is 00:45:01 to coach Shador. Now, I understand. And also, I think some teams some point coming to the nfl to coach to coach your door now i understand i think and also i think some teams are are scared of the power and and what they bring you know with that last name and that's just something you have to deal with there are other players that are just as polarizing uh maybe don't carry that much weight you know as as a family unit, as one. But, I mean, it's scaring some of the teams. But still, you understand what you get. You understand what you get as a player.
Starting point is 00:45:32 You know, it's your door. So it's confusing to me when you turn the film on and you watch the tape, and I've watched the tape on all the other quarterbacks that have gone before him, and it's mind-boggling. And I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with any of the quarterbacks that have gotten drafted. You know, kudos to them. You know, this is obviously you live in a childhood dream of yours,
Starting point is 00:45:50 but, I mean, like, come on, man. Hold on. So, you think, you know, that's probably one of the reasons he's not getting drafted because, you know, they think Deion coming in to replace him? Well, I think the thing is that the only voice he's really heard is his father's voice. From the time he started playing football,
Starting point is 00:46:09 his father's coached him every step of the way. What about the eye test? Oh, yeah, when I tell him he can play. There's certain things that with certain cats, they're not going to test well when it comes to agility and all that and strength training. I agree. But when you put them out there on the court or
Starting point is 00:46:25 the field or whatever. They know how to make plays, man. I think some of that stuff you can't account for, like just watching film ain't going to do it or just going to watch him throw. That's not going to show what he can do in between the lines when you get on the field.
Starting point is 00:46:42 That's what I'm saying. Charlie Ward won the Heisman and didn't get drafted. You remember that, right, Ocho? you know when uh when you get on the field that's what i'm saying oh joe charlie ward won the heisman it didn't get drafted did you remember you remember that right oh joe that's right you remember that right that's right okay okay i'm just i'm just making sure the champ understand so it's not like now a lot of people will say well charlie had told him that you know blah blah blah was blah, blah, I was going to go play in the NBA. NBA, yeah. But ain't nobody going to take a flyer? Hey, Bo Jackson told Tampa that if you
Starting point is 00:47:09 select me, I'm going to go play baseball. They took him number one overall. You're not going to tell us what we're not going to do. Now, they ended up trading that pick to the Raiders, but I'm just saying, Hugh Reston, so Hugh Carverhouse
Starting point is 00:47:25 who used to be the owner of Tampa Bay Bo was the best player he said if you draft me Tampa cause they had done you know
Starting point is 00:47:32 ruined a lot of other players they had Tampa was not very good you select me I'm gonna go play baseball with the first pick Tampa Bay Buccaneers select
Starting point is 00:47:42 Vincent Bo Jackson you gotta be a bad boy, hey, to get selected first and then don't want to play for them. Like, you know, I'm just going to go over there and play baseball. I ain't doing all that. I ain't pulling with y'all.
Starting point is 00:47:56 CJ got since saying, Shannon, this can't be a race thing. We should do her. The Titans draft the Cam, number one overall. Don't you know it's a personality thing? To be honest with you, CJ, I don't know what it is. What we're trying to do, we're trying to say, hey, we threw the personality
Starting point is 00:48:11 out. We threw, does he have a pre-existing condition? I mean, does he have all the field issues? Yeah, yeah. CJ, I'm going to be honest with you. I don't know. I haven't talked to Time. I'm sure at some point in time, I'll get around and I'll sit down and I'll ask Time.
Starting point is 00:48:29 Time, what you think happened? But I don't know. Yeah, that's puzzling, bro. Never happened ever in the history of the game. DeJuan Hyatt said black confidence is scary to them. They hate that they can't break his confidence in himself
Starting point is 00:48:48 and he's already rich. They can't hold money over him. Free black men is America's nightmare. Listen, I read it earlier. I don't know if you heard
Starting point is 00:48:58 what I read earlier, but hey. Hey, can he go back to school? Nope. He got an agent. Even if you don't, NFL don't play that. Once you declare for the draft, it's good night, Irene.
Starting point is 00:49:11 That's it. That's it. JJ said, oh, Lakers got to stop turning the ball over. I agree. Turn the ball over. Those young guys get out and get easy buckets on you. I agree. They definitely, JJ, need to stop turning that ball over. Those young guys get out and get easy buckets on you. I agree. They definitely, J.J., need to stop turning that ball over.
Starting point is 00:49:27 If LeBron knew how close the game out there would have won, 38 points means nothing if he sink the end clutch last five minutes. He ghosted. The fatigue. Yeah, I mean, you're asking a 40-year-old. I mean, how many 40-year-olds have ever made the playoffs, let alone score 38? You're asking a man 41 minutes.
Starting point is 00:49:56 41 minutes. He gave you 10 rebounds, so he's really exerting himself because he's got to get on the glass. I mean, he's 13 to 21 from the field, 5 and 9 from the three-point line. Any plan defense. You just need a little help tonight. You just need a little more help. Kendrick Clemens, can't say Lakers or five.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Oh, no. Dude, 2006, man. No legacy five. See, y'all want to pile on. We got some for you now. DS, car wash and detail service. Clippers winning it all till we fall. Don't give Kawhi the ball.
Starting point is 00:50:40 Kawhi's playing unbelievable. Kawhi's playing unbelievable. He's healthy. He got that mini going. And when he gets that mini going, and then you combine that with his ability to shoot the three, he's tough to deal with, man. He's tough to deal with.
Starting point is 00:50:54 On top of, you still got James Harden playing at a high level, too. You get both of them dudes going the way they've been playing the past few games, past couple games. And Zubox give you a double-double every night. Yeah, and Zubox, they just got a bunch of guys chipping in, man, doing a little dirty work. And really, I mean, game three, it wasn't even no game for real. They have no start to finish pretty much.
Starting point is 00:51:20 Sir Case, my guys, is not going after the season if the Bucs loses. And will the Dolphins eventually get fed up and trade Tyreek if he keeps up with these trade antics? I don't know. Did he say something, Ocho? Did he say something today about being traded? I didn't hear anything. Everything's been draft covers for me,
Starting point is 00:51:37 so I didn't see anything any current players have said. Doc, does he get fired if the Bucucks get bounced in the first round, Joe? I think they're going to make some changes. If they lose in the first round, they're going to make some changes. I know Dame can hurt, but I think they're probably going to give up on that Giannis and Dame thing if they can't get past these places. Well, Dame really never wanted to go there anyway. Dame wanted to go to Miami.
Starting point is 00:52:06 Yeah. Yeah, I know. But Miami didn't want to give up the package that it was going to take in order for them to get Dane. You know, Pat Riley tried to – man, Pat Riley always tried to strong-arm somebody. Well, we're going to give you this. Nah, you're not going to give us no – nah. Nah, you're not going to give us no pieces. This is what we want.
Starting point is 00:52:27 Take it or leave it. You called us. We didn't call you. Yeah. He's going to try to get what he can get. He's trying to make the deal right for himself and for the heat. He ain't studying that. Yeah, and I ain't trying to help the heat.
Starting point is 00:52:41 I am not trying to help the heat be title contenders. So give me what I want or kick rocks. Right. Yeah. Rich Cleaver, Joe, I've been rocking with you. It was go to Joe. Much love, Nightcap. Watch every episode.
Starting point is 00:52:55 Come to Arkansas. Yes, sir. Nicole Weller, say what you want. Cincinnati will always be home. When I fly home from college studying in Atlanta at Emory, I always get a unique, special feeling driving through the skyline because my brain knows I'm home. Who they? Who they?
Starting point is 00:53:13 Chem Day Beatles. Ocho, can't wait to see you in Charlotte. Let me be your hype man on the flight. You too quick. Devo can't catch you. Ocho in five. Devo can't see you. That's what he meant.
