More star power for the Miami Dolphins. The team just agreed for a one-year deal with Odell Beckham Jr. adding him to a position group that already features five-time all-pro Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle who posted three since his rookie season three straight
Starting point is 00:03:56 1,000 yard season to start a career the deal is worth three million dollars with incentives that can push the max value to 8.25. Hill and Waddle have been the most productive wide receivers tandem since joining forces in 2022. But no receiver behind those two has eclipsed 32 catches in either of the past two seasons. Miami reliance on the star duo became apparent late in the season when both Hill and Waddle battled through injuries. As an NFL insider reported, Chiefs were appealing to wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Money won right over there. They were probably trying to penny pinch. They were trying to penny pinch.
Starting point is 00:04:34 So what made more sense to me, to me, well, you can get more here down in Miami. Obviously, we have no tax. And then the offense, I'm not saying we have packed them home, but we do have a quarterback by the name of Tua, who is a Samoan warrior who is efficient as well when it comes
Starting point is 00:04:51 to throwing the ball, as you can look and see what Jalen Waddell and Tyreek have done since they've been with him. You add Odell Beckham, who is still very, very, very good at what he does to that offense, who will probably play in the slot most of the time and will dominate short,
Starting point is 00:05:10 intermediate routes. And on short, intermediate routes, if you watch Odell throughout the years, he can still hit his head off the goalpost from anywhere on the field. Shallow routes, slant routes. He can go deep still. So I'm excited. I'm excited. Now that offense just got a little bit scary because there's nothing wrong with Odell at all. Obviously he played with the Ravens
Starting point is 00:05:34 last year. But injuries have robbed him. He's not the same guy Ocho. He hasn't had a thousand yard season since 2018, but he's not used in a way where he can put up those type of numbers as well. Now, we have to remember that as well.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Well, how are you going to do that? I'm not saying he needs to put up a thousand. I'm saying he's still... Listen, let me say something real quick, and this is what I'll do. Respect everybody. 80% Odell Beckham, even with the injuries,
Starting point is 00:06:07 is better than 90% of what we have in the NFL at receiver right now. Do you agree or disagree with me? Wait, you didn't say do you agree or disagree with me? But here's the thing. He's 80%. But no, because context matters. 80% of Odell as the third
Starting point is 00:06:22 option. He's not a third option receiver. Wait, let me finish. Based on injuries that have happened, we are thinking he's a third receiver. To me, we're getting a low
Starting point is 00:06:38 end one or two that we're seeing as a three because of situations that have occurred throughout his career. He ain't nowhere near, he ain't no goddamn three. Shit. No, sir. Oh, in this situation, he's a three.

In Baltimore, the plays that he made, he wasn't throwing the ball enough to show you that he can still do what I know he can do. Because I know he can do it is what I'm telling you. I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with him.
Starting point is 00:07:29 He's the third option. You're not looking at that. You're going and thinking, okay, let's just say for the sake of argument, there's no Tyreek, there's no Jalen Waddle. Okay. But he's there. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:07:44 I'm just telling you, even, even if he's a three, he's a three, right? Most of the, most of the balls, there's only one ball to go around.

Starting point is 00:08:29 at the deadline. He missed a year. So, you know, that Super Bowl year, he missed a year and then last year. Yes, sir. The problem is, Ocho, is that the injuries we don't get healthier as we get older.
Starting point is 00:08:49 He's had the ACL. Yeah. He's had the broken ankle. So to ask and to expect, I know what he once was, but I don't believe he still possessed that. And now he's the third guy in a situation. Yeah. That's what's tough. You know what?
Starting point is 00:09:11 I'm glad people are thinking like that, including you. That's a good thing. Because I want, when we go into the season, I want teams that are playing the Dolphins, I want them to view Odell as a goddamn third. I want them to view, I want you to view Odell as a goddamn third. Starting point is 00:23:02 there are a handful of guys. You get George Kittle. George Kittle is the most complete tight end. Because he can block really well. Block really well. He's like a grump. But you see more guys like Kelsey. You see Laporta. You see Hawkinson.

Starting point is 00:25:20 He went to playoffs in both seasons and last year he went to the Western Conference Finals. The next half of the Lakers, we did fourth coach in seven seasons. They didn't bring back Luke Walton after his third season. They canned Frank Vogel after the third season, in a season in which he won the championship and not him.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Who do you think they turn to next? If the Lakers are hoping to talk to Ty Lue this offseason, the Clippers may get in the way and block the Lakers from talking to him. I don't. The problem that I have is that you don't accomplish anything by keep changing coaches. You get no continuity. You got a different voice every two to three years.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Yeah. Yeah. How about this? At what point does the organization, at what point do the players take accountability? They don't? You know what? It's us. It's us. How about LeBron and AD? How about LeBron and AD? I love LeBron and AD. And I'm sure they probably going to text me and curse me out for this. But how about when you lose a series instead of underlying and throwing the coach under the bus, how about you say, you know what? This is on us. Yeah. This is on us.
Starting point is 00:26:28 What we can't do and what we can't allow the media to do to allow the weight of the pressure on our failures to go on a head coach. Because he's doing his job. He's not on the court. We're on the court. We're the ones responsible for us going home. That's it.
Starting point is 00:26:47 And it has nothing to do with Darwin Ham. That's, I mean, that's just me. That's how I would have saved my coach because, you know, players get coaches fired. You know what that's saying?

Starting point is 00:27:10 thought that would work. LeBron James and Anthony Davis. No exact... I thought it would work too. I like Russ. No, it's not about like. You got to see how this thing blends. I mean, his style of play doesn't fit?
Starting point is 00:27:23 His style of play, their style of play. Nobody, no exec, nobody that's on television that do this. Right. But what you gave up to get him, you gave up all your draft compensation. You gave up depth. You gave up a Kuz. You gave up a KCP. You let Caruso walk, who was your best wing defender.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Hey, I like Caruso. He good on defense so now everybody put this on the head coach I'm sure if you'd ask Darvin Ham Darvin Ham would say nah I mean first of all Frank Vogel would have said no Darvin Ham damn sure would have
Starting point is 00:27:57 said no but AD and LeBron AD and LeBron Russell Westbrook was in LA because AD and LeBron wanted that tobrook, was in L.A. because A.D. and LeBron wanted that to happen. Right. And when it blew up, it got Frank Vogel fired. And they got no draft compensation because they could have had DeMar DeRozan. DeMar DeRozan came on Club Shea Shea and said he would be willing to take a pay cut to play for the team that he grew up watching.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Right. But what did they do? Gave up all their draft capital, all their debt, and signed Russ. And his contract handicapped him. Because it was two years and over $90 million.
Starting point is 00:28:39 So let's not put this on Darvin Ham. Is Darvin Ham ever going to be thought of as Pat Riley or Phil Jackson? No. No, no. I think based on their resume and what they've done throughout their careers, I would say that that there had there has to be some some some coaching where they become sponge like and they actually listen. No, I don't know.

Starting point is 00:35:09 they have an opportunity to get Kyrie. I don't know if they had the assets to get it. Right. You have no draft compensation. That's the thing. Now, maybe if you'd have kept that draft compensation, maybe you have enough pieces now to give Brooklyn.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Okay, we'll give you two, three first rounders. We'll give you solid players for Kevin Durant and pair him with Anthony Davis. Or somebody else, Dane. Now imagine you got Dane. You got first-round picks. And you got Kuz and some of these other guys. But look, he's gone now.
Starting point is 00:35:56 What they should have done is hired Ty Lue from the jump. That's who LeBron really, really wanted, Ty Lue. But they were unwilling to give him the deal. They wanted to make two years and then auction. Like, no, I want five years. And unfortunately, I don't believe Ty Lue's going to win with the Clippers because his best player is always hurt come playoff time. He got balking knees.
Starting point is 00:36:23 And he signed Kawhi. They know that's a bad contract, but they're going into a new building next year and you got to have stars. Stars make you bring you out. Put fans in the seats. Yes. What about J.J. Redick? I saw his name in the pot too.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Well, I saw that the Charlotte Hornets were interested in J.J. Reddick. Oh, I thought it was the Lakers. Or both. That was the first. I just heard that recently. I think a lot of people are trying to put two and two together
Starting point is 00:36:54 because LeBron is doing a podcast with J.J. And so they're trying to connect the dots. And maybe that is. I didn't really look at it like that. I like it. I like it. I like it. But I just don't think you can just keep hiring coaches. I just don't think that's conducive for winning.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Name somebody that they've had how many head coaches in the last seven years for? Yeah. The cycle will continue to repeat itself. Yeah. Yeah. So, Lonzo Ball had exercised his player option for the 2024 season, locking in his salary at $21.4 million
Starting point is 00:37:36 for next season. The decision was a no-brainer, given Lonzo hasn't played since January of 2022 due to knee problems. He's undergone serious procedures on the troublesome left knee, including cartilage transplant in 2023. They can transplant cartilage now?
Starting point is 00:37:55 Yeah, we just talked about that the other day. I better go get this on. You can't. Well, he did it. I mean, but he's but he younger he younger than you you want you want to open up open up your knee this late in the day

CJ Stroud, clown Parsons, with the too small gesture with the sumo wrestler, mimic as well. Parsons quickly asked for a rematch. The two-time Pro Bowler came out with extra force in round two. After a few seconds of struggle within the dojo, Parsons was able to shove his opponent out of the circle. Parsons returned the favor and said, too small, even posted a clip on Twitter

Starting point is 00:45:35 Yeah. Yes, sir, he's a wide receiver at the next level. You're showing what we call instinct, film study. Clay, he's a two-way player. He's not going to play two ways in NFL. Not to start. I have a question. Yes. What did Champ Bailey do when he came in the NFL? Not
Starting point is 00:45:51 immediately. I mean, he had a few plays. Okay. Stay with me now. He did it, though. What did Charles Wilson do when he came in the NFL? He had a few plays. Okay. Even Deion had a few plays. Deion, what did he do? Yeah. He had more of those plays when he was in Dallas right anywhere else uh and then eventually he was straight Charles got no more plays
Starting point is 00:46:13 offensively right right right right right it's just it's just too hard though Joe it is too hard especially at the highest level but again yes to me I just didn't like the fact that we're saying, oh, he's a DB and he can't play receiver when he's very good at receiver as well. He's a two way player. And what we saw in those clips that the guy, Clay, Clay, I'm, high IQ when it comes to watching film and knowing what's coming because of that film study, he's a ball hawk and he's good at what he does on both sides of the ball. And again, we can show clips of Travis Hunter playing receiver as well and showing he is elite at that position as well. So it all depends on what he wants to play or what he's more comfortable with as far as when he goes to the next level.
Starting point is 00:47:09 The fact that he's able to do both is at a pretty damn high level I think is really good. I think for me, I think he's better suited to play defensive back. I watched him. It's not like,
Starting point is 00:47:20 he doesn't get off the ball. Ocho, he can't get off press. He's just using athleticism. At this point in time, if you can't get off press, you ain't going to the next level to learn how to get off press. You better learn how to do that before you get there. It has to already be installed in you. You got to work on it in the offseason.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Yeah. But listen, those are things that you can fix because he's so agile. He's so quick. His quick twitch fibers are really good. So you get him down here with somebody like Goldfeet Global or get him out here with some people out here
Starting point is 00:47:50 like Receiver Factory, man, they get that together in about two, three months. He'd be out there slicing and dicing that. I think, Ocho, I think me personally, I think he's gotten away with receiver just on athleticism.
Starting point is 00:48:03 Right, right, right, right. I think because, like you said, his instincts are better at corner. Yeah, very. What he has, you can't teach that. No, no, no. Not gold feet, not sweet feet, not any kind of feet. Yeah. What he has, the way he can play two by one,
Starting point is 00:48:22 and the way he can cover two, he can fool you and then sink and make the pick. And then come and get it, yeah. You can't teach that, Ocho. That's God-given. God gave him that ability. Yeah, you're right. You can work with people and they get you to understand the nuances.
Starting point is 00:48:40 But most people that can get off press, they're real good. It's just the little technical things that they work on to get better, to understand how soon to get skinny, and to not give them your entire – never play square. Always play on angles. Never go straight down the man. I'm on left shoulder, right shoulder, but never down the middle of the man. Don't let him put two hands on –
Starting point is 00:49:01 hey, the moment he do this, you chop and go one side or the other. It's things like that. Hey, don't let him ride you because a lot of times the guys get on your hip and they'll ride you right out of bounds, and the guy has to make a perfect throw. No, the minute you get outside, you squeeze him back, and now you stack him. It's stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:49:22 Yeah, we can teach you that. But Ocho, man, you know getting off that press, that's God-given, man. That's a different ballgame. That's a different ballgame. But I was saying, I think he will be able to learn and get good at it simply because he's so goddamn athletic. All it is is just it's about learning it, understanding you got to be quick but not in a hurry,

All like, I tell Shelly, go give me some chocolate milk and an apple yeah man I had a oh Joe and last surgery I had they had a powerful I had the hot down off don't tell nobody else that man you got too many people in the chat man what happened I had me like a glass I had this solo cup
Starting point is 01:06:35 about three quarters way full with chocolate milk and all she had to do was just cut I just eat the apple the apple peels I can eat the whole apple, but I just, hey, just cut some slices off the apple peel, had the heart down off it.
Starting point is 01:06:52 Yeah. I don't like that. Man, y'all, man, y'all, hey, somebody said the apple way keep the doctor away. That's right. I don't mess with no apples. I only eat apples at my house, and I only eat them at a certain
Starting point is 01:07:07 time. At night? Oh, no. Oh, I would never eat one at night. I got to get up out of that bed, cuz. You mess about and think you passing gas, and boy, you have to have somebody come clean the whole room.
Starting point is 01:07:24 Oh, no. I eat them probably about 3 o'clock in the afternoon or in the morning but I don't eat them I don't eat them if I'm going somewhere I don't fool with them okay I definitely man you think I eat an apple at 9 o'clock at night
Starting point is 01:07:40 I mean listen that's a delicacy you know having fruit before you go to bed. Oh, no. I could never do that. Oh, no. My system is on overdrive. I already know.
Starting point is 01:07:55 Right, okay. Yeah, I don't have no issues. Apples, pears, peaches, fruit, like, nah. I stay at my house. I got you. I'm going to let you have that one, Ochoa, so y'all have a good time eating y'all fruit.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Okay, Dennis Bari said, with Mother's Day next Sunday, what was the gift you got her that really made her happy? For me, I got her CD Changers stereo and a bunch of CDs from the 60s that took her to Tony Roma's for dinner. Look at my mom. Oh, man. Well, it's actually Mother's Day every month for my mom, considering she get a check. I'm trying to think.
Starting point is 01:08:51 I brought a Mercedes. But most of the time, my mom, my mom's simple. My mom just want money. My mom don't want it. She don't want anything that she want money because she want to go to the racetrack with her girlfriends and they, you know, play the slot machine.
Starting point is 01:09:05 That's what my mom wanted to do. My grandmother, for Mother's Day, I bought her one year, I bought a necklace, Ocho, and it was a diamond and a cross. It was gold, but it had diamonds inside of it. And I remember she looked at it. She looked up at me she called my sister in the room she said Libby
Starting point is 01:09:32 she said Libby I said Libby granny call you she came in there she told my sister she said you see this chain she said yes ma'am she said it's pretty she said it goes in the ground with me
Starting point is 01:09:48 my grandma never took it off I brought a watch I brought a watch at a local drugstore but the band I don't know if that was before your time but they used to have a band people older probably my age would understand it was crystal flicks so you could like twist the band it was just like rubber band but it was it was like a like a metal right and
Starting point is 01:10:09 it had big numbers and it like you know you look at night it light up she told my sister she said this necklace and this watch go in the ground with me and we buried we we buried her wishes we buried her in it so that was probably the greatest gift I've ever given somebody because of what it meant how she reacted when she received it. I think the greatest gift I ever gave my grandma
Starting point is 01:10:37 probably a vehicle. BMW, I'll never forget. BMW 745i. And seeing the look on her face. Seeing, I'll never forget. BMW 745i. And seeing the look on her face. Seeing the look on her face. My mama. I bought her a BMW as well.
Starting point is 01:10:57 330i, if I'm not mistaken. A little drop top. And I bought her a purse. And inside the purse, she opened the purse and I had a little, a little dog, a little, a little, a little toy poodle, but it looked like a chicken wing. It was so little. It looked like a damn chicken wing. I never forget that, man. And you know, my mom was very, very theatrical, very, um, flamboyant and she just hollered and cried and, and fell outoyant, and she just
Starting point is 01:11:25 hollered and cried and fell out, and oh, man, it was one of the greatest moments, man, seeing their faces and smile. That's what it's all about. When you get them gifts, and
Starting point is 01:11:41 I mean, hell, shit, I'm You know, Ochocho you know when you like you know I already knew cause like my grandmother my grandfather you know the ring you know back then it wasn't really no diamonds you got a band so my grandmother really never had any expensive jewelry and she was okay
Starting point is 01:11:58 with that I didn't expect for it to have that kind of impact I knew she would like it it was a cross my grandmother of impact. I knew she would like it. It was a cross. It was religious. So I knew she would like it. I thought I didn't, you know,
Starting point is 01:12:11 I didn't get the one I originally thought because I thought that would be too. And I knew she would have thought that would be too gaudy, too ostentatious, but I didn't expect the reception that I got. Cause I started to tear up because now she thought so much of it and she never took it off. And so
Starting point is 01:12:31 to her wishes, she went to the ground with it. So those are special moments that you never forget. Derrick Jr. said, what's up y'all? I'm 25. Just got a new job at a warehouse, and I'm happy, but also struggling with thoughts
Starting point is 01:12:47 because I know I have more potential. Any words of advice? Yeah. Until you... Potential just means you haven't done anything, bro. Mm-hmm. What do you have that potential in?

So I think that's the thing people are like I got so much potential potential just means you haven't done anything okay what is that potential in

Starting point is 01:16:03 out of that situation. Keep them out of that situation. Keep them out of that situation. As I started to get better, I was like, okay, what could I possibly become? I remember in 97, Mark Kisler, he was a writer. I think he is still right for Denver.
Starting point is 01:16:24 He came up to me and said, you could make the Hall of Fame. I said, what? He said, yeah, you have a couple more years like this. You can make the Hall of Fame. That was the first time I ever even heard about it because in 91 we played, who do we play? If I'm not mistaken, we
Starting point is 01:16:42 played Detroit in the Hall of Fame game. Remember the game? In Canton. Come on, bro. I'm a seventh-round pick. Seventh-round picks don't have no dreams of playing in the Hall of Fame. I'm sorry. We're just hoping we can make the team.
Starting point is 01:16:59 And so we're just like, man, damn. Because at that point in time, Ocho, I had gone to five straight Pro Bowls and had been on three All-Proteins. But it really never dawned on me. My mind never went to Hall of Fame until he brought it up to me
Starting point is 01:17:18 in a conversation in the locker room. As a matter of fact, we were walking off the field. And everybody called me Sharpie. I was like, Sharpie, you know, with a couple more seasons, you can be a Hall of Famer. I'm like, really? He's like, yeah. So that was really the first time that it ever really dawned on me.
Starting point is 01:17:38 But I'm okay. Wherever you rank me, Five, I think Gronk had a better career than I had. I think Kelsey obviously had a way better career than I had. Gates, I don't think Gates gets enough credit. Gonzo,
Starting point is 01:18:01 but I'm good. I don't even worry about it. I did what I did. I think y'all know from the way I talk and the way I'm so motivated I got everything out of my God-given ability.
Starting point is 01:18:14 I couldn't have you know, hey, I wish I could have stayed healthy like Kelsey, but I missed a season due to injuries. Not one season, but over the court, I missed 16 games. So do I have maybe another 1,000 yards instead of 10,000? I have 11.
Starting point is 01:18:31 Instead of 815, maybe I have 900 catches. But I don't think that changes anybody's perception of me because I was the first with 700 catches, the first with 800 catches, the first with 9,000 yards, the first with 10,000 yards, had all the records. But I'm good. Guys come along and at some point in time,
Starting point is 01:18:51 these guys is going to move down, but hey, my kids will be able to look back and say, hey, you know what guys? My dad had all these records. My dad is in the Hall of Fame. They'll be able to go see my grandkids, great-grands will'll be able to go see my grandkids, great-grands will always be able to go see that.
Starting point is 01:19:07 So I'm good where I am. I am, Ochoa. I'm content. Oh, yeah. Even if I wasn't, ain't nothing I can do about it now. I can't go back and catch any more passes, no touchdowns, no catches, no yards. I can't do nothing.
