Starting point is 00:03:31 are reportedly set to interview Ron Rivera and Rex Ryan for the head coaching vacancy at the Jets. Ocho, who would be the better fit? I'm biased, so don't ask me. So... You don't like Rex going back? No, but I'm saying I know Rex.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Sexy Rex, he was on the staff in Baltimore. His dad came and worked me out when I was at the Broncos. Not the Broncos. When I was in Savannah State, Ocho. Buddy, his dad, rest his soul, came and worked me out. He said, son, I've watched the tape.
Starting point is 00:04:05 He says, we're going to take a bunch of receivers. He said, we're going to put all their ass in the bag and the best ones are going to play. That's what he told me. He drafted all those receivers and I remember him telling me, he's like, I effed up.
Starting point is 00:04:21 He said, we took a bunch of receivers, but none of them was you. They took Fred Barbn said, we took a bunch of receivers, but none of them was you. They took Fred Barbnett. They took Calvin Williams, Mike Bellamy. They took like four receivers, Ocho. None of them named Shannon Sharp.
Starting point is 00:04:37 That's motivating. Oh, yeah. That is motivating in this city. Who do you like best, Ocho? You like Ron Ribeiro or you like best ocho you like ron ribeiro you like rex ryan like i like rex i like rex i i don't think ron has a the right and personality is not the right word to use he does he just doesn't fit the new york atmosphere the new york meter i mean rex has been there done that he knows He knows, he knows, he definitely knows, he definitely knows how to talk to the media.
Starting point is 00:05:08 He has the personality. He's charismatic. Yeah. Ron Rivera, he just doesn't fit. He just doesn't fit. I mean, good,
Starting point is 00:05:16 good coach. He just doesn't fit in that atmosphere. I don't think that's what they need. So you like, you like Ron. I mean, you like, I like, I like Rex. Yeah. yeah i like i like that to go back especially
Starting point is 00:05:28 rex rex is a defense of mine as well too right yeah we definitely have that defense player well but let me ask you this uh what are you doing who who are you bringing in as offensive coordinator and what are you doing with the quarterback and i see that's the scary part so it doesn't matter you switch coaches if you don't have nobody at the helm that can be able to get the quarterback and that's see that's the scary part so it doesn't matter you switch coaches if you don't have nobody at the helm that can be able to get the ball and deliver that thing it ain't no point it ain't no point you're signing you're signing yourself up for suicide basically which is not gonna be able to compete when you don't have a quarterback true so because i don't believe i don't believe the ground and pound that he employed with mark sanchez and running the football with thomas jones and those guys and playing outstanding
Starting point is 00:06:09 defense on show you can't win like that yeah no your quarterback they're gonna force your quarterback to make plays they just do they just do yeah and it used to be if you brought your your run game and a defense because running game and defense travels not anymore Ocho it's still a travel but they're gonna make your quarterback make some plays it's really that simple right they're gonna make it make plays and he's got to be able to make those plays yeah Ocho yeah there's been speculation that the Raiders co-co-owner Tom Brady really liked Brian Flores as a potential head coaching candidate. Flores has done some amazing things with the
Starting point is 00:06:48 Bikes. Remember, he was the defensive coordinator when they won the Super Bowl against the Rams, right? In Atlanta? And then he got the head coaching job at Miami. Okay. He was a linebacker's coach when did he become the DC
Starting point is 00:07:07 he was never the DC okay so he was the linebacker's coach that got the job okay because Patricia was the DC okay you like that you like Brian Flores
Starting point is 00:07:20 to the Vikes absolutely absolutely now listen I think Brian Flores and what he was able to do to the Vikings. Absolutely. Absolutely. Now, listen, I think Brian Flores and what he was able to do with the Vikings defense, obviously the personnel and the talent and skill level may be a little different, a little bit more upside when it comes to the Vikings defense,
Starting point is 00:07:37 but I think it would be good. I think he'd be a good fit. I don't like the fact that they're firing and getting rid of AP when AP hasn't had a chance because he's been going through a goddamn quarterback carousel and goddamn merry-go-round of quarterbacks. So it's hard to be able to, again, I say it all the time, you can't compete unless you got a quarterback. None. Zero. There's zero chance. You can't. You can't. And who do you have?
Starting point is 00:08:02 Who do you have, Ocho have Ocho he had Jimmy G he had Gardner Minchu, Aiden O'Connell Aiden O'Connell was anybody else there those are the main three that I do remember no disrespect to them no disrespect to them but you know we talk about tier 2, tier 3 quarterbacks
Starting point is 00:08:19 what I'm supposed to do with that nothing you can't do. You give me chicken poodle and say, make me some chicken salad. And I need it to be yummy. You're right. I mean, I like Brian Flores. I think he's done a great job of rehabilitating himself
Starting point is 00:08:38 because all the things that were coming out weren't favorable. You hear Tua say things. You hear Ryan Fitzpatrick say things. There are some other people that have come out and said some things. But look, at the end of the day, Brian, if I were to tell you, all I would say is this, be you. You're not Coach Belichick.
Starting point is 00:08:54 And I think that is the one mistake all the coaches under that tree have made. They made, yeah. They try to be Coach Belichick. Right. Be you. That way of coaching wouldn't work in this area anyway. If you look at the guys that come out of Mike Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan's tree.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Sean McVay is Sean McVay. Matt LaFleur is Matt LaFleur. Kevin O'Connell is Kevin O'Connell. Mike McDaniel is Mike McDaniel. Don't nobody try to be like him. I don't know why. when that's not your personality. When they look up there and they hear you sounding like Coach Belichick, but they're like, you're Brian Flores.
Starting point is 00:09:32 You're Matt Patricia. You're Josh McDaniel. You're Bill O'Brien. You're Charlie White. You're Romeo Cornell. You're not him. Why try to be him? So that would be my advice to him. Why try to be him? So that
Starting point is 00:09:45 would be my advice to him. I hope he gets another opportunity. Normally, the second time around is better than the first. Yeah. Where you go is very important. But you have some pieces you get to work with over there. Jack Jones, Max Crosby,
Starting point is 00:10:02 you got some other young... You got Christian Wilkins. Yeah. You got Brock Bowers. You got to get a quarterback. You got Christian Wilkins. Yeah, yeah. You got Brock Bowers. You got to get a quarterback. You got to get a quarterback. And they got a lot of... How much cap space do the Raiders have? Raiders got a lot of cap space.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Now, they're going to have a little dead cap space on there with Devontae Adams dealing him. They're going to have a little dead cap space. But, Ocho, that's it. They got money. They got to spend it. Yeah, I mean, listen. You don't want to spend on anything.
Starting point is 00:10:25 You got the second most cap money to spend on Joe. Hey, that's a beautiful thing. But you don't just want to spend on anything. You want to spend on the right thing. Oh, for sure. Oh, for sure. But all I know is this. Josh McDaniels has been the head coach of two teams and he's left them worse off than when he found them. He's with the Broncos and he was terrible. He was awful. I think they feel
Starting point is 00:10:48 the same way about him at the Raiders. Right. Ah, that's messed up, man. Listen, I'm surprised. Would I be surprised if he's not the head of the offensive coordinator
Starting point is 00:10:59 at North Carolina? I wouldn't be. Would you be shocked if he followed Coach Belichick to UNC I would not that's a good one
Starting point is 00:11:09 that's a that's a good matter of fact I'm gonna ask Bill I'm gonna ask Bill if he won't if he'll let me intern rumor
Starting point is 00:11:18 Pax could move on for Jared Mayo and for Mike Brable Mike Brable has a consulting gig with the Browns that ended. What? Do you believe Jared Mayo, Gerard Mayo,
Starting point is 00:11:33 has gotten a fair shake, Coach? It's absolutely not fair. Absolutely not fair. Like, come on, man. I mean, he do realize that that three year grace period how many games have the Patriots won? three?
Starting point is 00:11:50 three and thirteen? yeah three and thirteen Coach Belichick was five and eleven his first season right and it was about to go worse than that until that faithful hit Mo Lewis put on
Starting point is 00:12:06 Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady fell out the sky yeah that's a crazy story it's Ocho it's like your house about to go
Starting point is 00:12:16 on floor closure you driving down the street and a bag of money falls out the truck right you're like Lord look at this I'm good now
Starting point is 00:12:23 let me go pay without okay there you go let me go pay without coach head coach shane steichen addresses accountability called out by pat mcafee not everyone is going to be on time jonathan taylor alleged coach issues no one thinks the standard has to be raised the playoffs has to be the standard you got to get in in order to establish that standard like listen this is the Indianapolis coach the standard is the playoffs it's hard when you lose to change the mindset right the standard has got to be the standard everybody got to be punctual everybody needs to be on time everybody needs to be accountable everybody needs to like okay what's hey coach if you set the vision
Starting point is 00:13:12 you set the agenda what is it where you're trying to do right hey we're trying to go hey when our home games go 8-0 at home go 500 on the road 12-4 get you into the playoffs every year Ocho yeah
Starting point is 00:13:31 gotta prop it out more times than not that'll win you the division now sometimes a team will go 13-3 14-2 and that won't
Starting point is 00:13:38 but 12-4 is gonna get you into the playoffs every year the standard that you have to have you have to have an ethos.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Something that's foundational. Something. Every great organization, you look at the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, Marines, they got an ethos. They got something that they believe in. The few, the proud. Right. So what is it that the coach,
Starting point is 00:14:01 what are you selling? I guarantee you when Peyton was there you had a standard I guarantee you oh yeah listen he coming in you know the sheriff ain't play that I guarantee you sheriff did not play that um everybody has to be everybody like I
Starting point is 00:14:22 just a stick with that not everyone is going to be on time. Huh? Where they do that at? How many, were you there? How many people came late Ocho to meet? Oh,
Starting point is 00:14:34 no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
Starting point is 00:14:37 no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
Starting point is 00:14:37 no, no, no, no, everybody was early. Everybody was early. Man, Mike didn't play that.
Starting point is 00:14:44 One day in one sound. That's the only way you can win. Yeah. That's the only way you can win. You can be accountable. You got to wait. What's your way? Mike ain't playing that.
Starting point is 00:14:56 You don't know how many times I've seen the guys go get in the sauna, go get on the bike, go get on the treadmill, go get on the stairs. Oh, it's $50 a pound. And it double. so you five over that's 50
Starting point is 00:15:09 next week it's 100 over it's 100 and the next week it's 200 now what you want to do that's your money yeah but I don't get it
Starting point is 00:15:21 it's crazy I just like I said Ocho I came along at the perfect time it would drive me crazy ojo because i don't think guys take it near as seriously no oh yeah yeah and it's different i honestly ojo i live and die by it i live that was the only thing that mattered right it was the only thing and i believe in order for you to be great, that's the price you have to pay. Got to.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Whew, you guys. Got to. Is there any team that has a more complicated relationship with their former greats, Peyton Manning? I mean, if you didn't know Peyton, if you didn't really like watch, you'd say Peyton Manning was a Bronco his whole career. He lives in Denver.
Starting point is 00:16:06 He's always at the Broncos game yes he lives in Denver serious he's never gone he's never gone but I think they went back when they unveiled a statue right he never forgave Jim Irsay for what he did with the neck injury to let him go
Starting point is 00:16:20 okay yeah yeah yeah Peyton Irsay lives in Denver he does stuff yeah. Payton? Payton's in Denver. He does stuff for Denver. He's big in the community in Denver. Right. Yes. Pat McAfee was,
Starting point is 00:16:34 I think, an all-pro point, made a couple of Pro Bowls. Right. I don't know if Andrew Luck had been back, because now he's the GM of the Stanford Cardinals. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yeah, I know y'all say he a coach, but that ain't how he sees himself. Right. Y'all see him as a coach. That's not how he sees himself. Right. Because how many times have y'all seen coach? How many times have y'all seen Peyton at a game?
Starting point is 00:17:06 Bronco fans, how many times have you'all seen Coles? How many times have y'all seen Peyton at a game? Bronco fans, how many times have you seen Peyton at a game? All the time. I can answer that for you. Because every time I go, I see him. Every function that we go to that night, Peyton is there. Peyton wasn't part of no Super Bowl,
Starting point is 00:17:21 but he's there. Yeah. He's at the games. Hold on. I got to pee pee real quick. Go ahead. We didn't know that, but okay. Ooh, we got a good one down here.
Starting point is 00:17:38 I can't wait for y'all to get this Q and A. This thing will be nice. Oh, Lord, have mercy. Okay. Now, someone asked how many takes does it take me to do promos? It all depends on how much verbiage it is.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Sometimes they be thinking I'm a professional at this. I normally like to get the reads first. You know, as you want me to come in here cold, it just, it just throws stuff up on the prompter. I'm like, can I get, can I get a read? Can I go over it a couple of times? But normally it takes me like about two. Now,
Starting point is 00:18:32 Jordan pull out the camera, I get it in one. Because he tried to get some quick, he even tried to get some takes to try to make me look bad. Yeah, then he tried to get bloopers out of me. Ash don't think I'd be serious. But I see. I see what she be trying to do. She be trying to make me look bad. But, uh, this
Starting point is 00:18:49 ain't what I do. But I've gotten, you know, this is what I have to do. Yeah. All right, Ocho. Now it's time for Rough Draft. Wait, hold on. What the shame, though? Well, you about to lose again.
Starting point is 00:19:27 I get to go first, Ocho. Oh, whoa. You lost. Oh, don't do that, Ocho. Now, you know we all today turn going first, Ocho. Why you do that? I mean, listen. When you play basketball, when you play one-on-one, right?
Starting point is 00:19:43 When you play one-on-one in basketball and you make it, you take it. You know? I mean, I don't want to say. that is what we did when I beat your eyes out first and when I was winning hold on let me let me let me go to my rough draft list real quick so if you won't go first I need to make sure I'm on point so I can counter whatever it is you do
Starting point is 00:19:57 okay okay let me go to my rough draft stuff hold on uh uh here it is I'm getting, let me go to my rough draft stuff. Hold on. Uh, uh, here it is. The most common new year's resolution.
Starting point is 00:20:14 You ready? Oh, Joe. Oh, I, oh, wait, wait, let me go.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Let me go first. No, you're not going first. I'm going first. Okay. Go ahead. Because you know, since you a financial guru,
Starting point is 00:20:23 I know you would, you a financial guru, know you would you're a financial guru right oh yeah oh yeah so what should be my new year's number one resolution what saving money or something okay so there you go right there i'm gonna save money and you know you're wrong you're definitely wrong the number one new year's resolution for everybody and if you notice for those for those of you the chat, if you work out a lot, everybody, I'm getting in the gym.

Starting point is 00:21:01 Oh, Joe. Yeah. Your glasses are on your shirt. Oh. Ocho your glasses are on your shirt oh uh Ocho Ocho man I'm looking all I'm looking all I'm looking all
Starting point is 00:21:26 under the table man come on man New Year's resolution okay you know what Ocho we gonna cut down what are we gonna cut down on I'm gonna cut down on drinking

Starting point is 00:22:05 My first one was Workout More, right? Yes. And I quit smoking for my second one? Yes. My next one, who up? You up or I'm up? You. You.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Ooh. Stress less. stress less okay you know what Ocho yes sir I think me and you both need to do this we're going to be better people I'm a great person no
Starting point is 00:22:43 no I'm a great person no volunteer or give back okay lying like a man you ain't volunteer what am I going to do I'm going to you know what I'm going to give I'm going to be charitable
Starting point is 00:23:02 well I just said that i said volunteer and get back no volunteer you volunteering or you giving oh you giving charity or you giving the money volunteer time you ain't volunteering no money volunteering and giving back is two different things i'm talking about donating charity okay you talk about your time okay right yeah or you want to buy or you want to give some money up you ain't giving no money no absolutely not i i i got this this is a good one because people always do this one in their new year's resolutions 2025 i'm gonna be a new me okay i'm gonna learn a new skill i'm gonna learn a new hobby okay at last that lasts for maybe a month or two.
Starting point is 00:23:46 All these last for a month or two. But it look good written out on paper. You know what, Ocho, what I'm going to do, Ocho? Yeah. I'm going to spend more time with family and friends. You know what? I'm going to be more positive. No damn way you not.

Starting point is 00:26:50 We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing,
Starting point is 00:27:22 technology, entertainment, and sports collide, and hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair.
Starting point is 00:28:02 And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane,
Starting point is 00:28:29 I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. Muhammad Ali was never afraid to express himself loudly and boldly and stays true to form in Ali and Me, an eight-part Audible original.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction. Those convictions never wavered. Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey, Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas. It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know.
Starting point is 00:29:47 As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity. There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible. Okay, Ocho. Now it's time for Ocho's favorite segment. It's called Spello Cinco.

Starting point is 00:54:36 It's time for Q&A. I'm in a three-game skid. Longer, but who's that? I'm in a slump. Damn, Ocho? Dr. Frank L. Bellamy said, I'm riding with y'all until the wheels fall off. Then when that happens, I get out and walk beside y'all.
Starting point is 00:54:54 Loyalty. Doc, we appreciate that. Like I said, Doc was one of the first ones. Doc might have been like the first or the second one to actually subscribe because I remember Ocho when I was in New York to do a first tape and I looked down at the thing I think Doc was the first one one of the first names that I actually saw and I remember seeing so he has actually absolutely been here from the beginning and I appreciate it
Starting point is 00:55:18 appreciate it uh Doc we appreciate that support Isaiah Lanc lancaster uncle no joke name your starting offense past or present quarterback running back wide receiver tight end and does the media put burrow over lamar when his resume is better and nine and one against him so you get a quarterback a running back wide receiver receiver, tight end. So who's your quarterback? My quarterback would be... I'm going to go with Mahomes.
Starting point is 00:55:56 Okay, you got Mahomes, boy. Yeah. What other positions do I need? You got a running back? Running back I'm going to pick would be... Who's style do I like better? I'm going to pick E.D. I'm going to pick Eric Dickerson.
Starting point is 00:56:14 Okay. E.D. Okay. You got a wide receiver. I can get one or two. You can get one. I'm going to go with T.O. Okay, T.O. and tight end.
Starting point is 00:56:35 Yeah, tight end. I know this dude pretty good. I'm going to go with you for my tight end. You going to take me, Ocho? I appreciate that, Ocho. I'm going to give you some love. I'm going to take you.
Starting point is 00:56:55 He said past. Now, you can pick anybody past or present. Yeah, I know. Okay. Quarterback. Quarterback. Quarterback. For me, I'm going Barry QB I ain't gonna put myself on my team so
Starting point is 00:57:28 right I'm gonna go Brady tight end I'm gonna go Kelsey that's a good one huh no no no no I'm going to go Kelsey. That's a good one. Huh? No, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:57:50 And wide receiver. I need to flip a coin. Well, who are the two you're choosing from? Yeah. All right right Ocho who you think my wide receiver should be I'm a flip a coin heads Jerry Rice
Starting point is 00:58:21 tails it'll be you but technically since I'm the greatest entertainer of all time If Jerry Rice tells, it'll be you. But technically, since I'm the greatest entertainer of all time that ever graced or touched the green grass between them white lines, go ahead, flip it, flip it. So you tells, Jerry Rice tells. And one thing about it, tell never loses. It's all I'm gonna do is pick it up
Starting point is 00:58:52 show it to the camera it's heads. Damn man. I'm sorry I'm sorry Ocho but I tell you what I did do I got this got this'm sorry, Ocho. But I'll tell you what I did do.

Starting point is 01:00:57 Skol. Yeah, I think it's his. Yeah. I think he's going to win. He's playing a, done a hell of a, hell of a job.
Starting point is 01:01:06 It's hard for me to see a scenario where Andy gets it, although Andy is 15-1, and he's going to rest his starter so he could easily be 60, potentially. They still could win. I don't think they will, but they could win. But it's just hard for Andy to get it because he has Mahone. Yeah. I mean, I think they got Coach Belichick.
Starting point is 01:01:29 Did they give Coach Belichick the coach of the year when they went 16-0? Yes. So how many times has Coach Belichick been coach of the year okay so i don't know why they won't give it to andy then hell if coach belichick can win it three times with tom brady you really tell me andy can't win it once with my homeboy yeah that's three superbow, with four Super Bowl appearances. But you already know what to expect from them. You didn't know what to expect from Kevin O'Connor.
Starting point is 01:02:12 You didn't know what to expect from Coach Belichick and Tom Brady? No, I'm just saying. Oh, yeah, but Kevin O'Connor should win it this year. That's what I mean. You factor Dan Campbell in. You factor Andy in, Red, who else?
Starting point is 01:02:30 Matt LaFleur. Yeah. But it should be Kevin O'Connell. So Laney, yes, Kevin O'Connell should be. Hey, Laney, welcome back. New Year's, you in the house?
