The team USA men's national basketball team, USA men's national team,
Starting point is 00:02:42 beat Puerto Rico 104-83 behind 26 points from Ant-Man Anthony Edwards. Excuse me. They finished to go 3-0 in pool play and is the number one overall seed in the Olympics quarterfinals. The U.S. emerged from pool play number one due to plus 64-point differential over the three games and will play Brazil in the quarterfinals. Ant-Man, Team USA usa youngest player at age 22 came off the bench to hit 11 of his 15 shots with three rebounds three
Starting point is 00:03:12 assists two steals joe lmb chipped in with 15.3 rebounds kevin durant at 11 points four rebounds Oh, Joe, what you thinking? Hey, we have no competition, huh? We, as in me, like I'm part of the goddamn team. We have no competition. Now, Kerr's a little upset with all the birds chirping from over here on the state side about how he does his lineups and everything. But I understand what he's saying. I just don't like something that he did say, saying that they don't complement each other well when you have certain players on the
Starting point is 00:03:48 floor playing together as one. But I need that neither here nor there. When it comes to the game of basketball, you want your best five players on the court, but you have the best 12. It's 12 players, right? The best 12? Yes. We have the best 12 from stateside over in
Starting point is 00:04:04 Paris. I'm not sure if the chemistry messes up regardless to who's in the rotation or who's on the floor because they're all great at what they do in the best you know for our country so i don't understand what he was talking about in that sense maybe you could explain it to me a little better but uh other than that i i see i see no one contesting us i see no one contesting how would you so how do youesting us. So how do you keep CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelsey, and George Kittle happy all on the field at the same time? You said how? Yes. Well, you make plays for each one.
Starting point is 00:04:37 It's pretty easy. You got four quarters. You got different downs. So what happens when Tyreek catches 14 and CeeDee Lamb gets two and Jefferson gets three? Well, that won't happen. That won't happen. That is going to happen, Ochoa. So you got the same number of catches every single week. And you didn't have
Starting point is 00:04:53 you didn't have when you made the All-Pro team, who were the other receivers? I don't remember. I mean, it was always TJ Huzmanzadeh and Chris Henry. I'm assuming. No, I'm not talking about on your own team. I mean, it was always TJ Housmanzadeh and Chris Henry, I'm assuming. No, I'm not talking about on your own team. I'm talking about the T.O.
Starting point is 00:05:08 T.O. in his prime. A.J. Johnson in his prime. Larry Fitzgerald in that prime. All of y'all on one team. How do I keep all of you happy? Well, it's pretty easy. I only need about three catches. No, you don't.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Stop saying that. Hello, I wasn't a volume catcher, Unc. I was always going deep. But look, I know the situation that when you weren't getting the ball at halftime, what transpired in the locker room. We don't need to mention it. Who are we playing? Don't worry about who we're playing. I know everything.
Starting point is 00:05:36 I'm just saying. I'm not going to let you say, come out here, and if there are other great players on your team, and you say you need three catches because you got them three catches and you were very upset. Catching drag routes ain't going to win no goddamn game. No, you said catches. Now you want to get specific with catches.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Because you're saying I need more catches in the game and I'm telling you what I've done throughout my career. You mentioned in one game. I'm telling you what transpired in the locker room when you wasn't getting the ball like you thought you should. Now, I can name several situations because you know I got people everywhere. Well, there was only one situation, but go ahead.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Ocho, this me. Yeah, this me too. I only had one problem. That's it. We're in the most important game of our time and you're allowing another team to dictate getting your best player to fall. Are you goddamn right?
Starting point is 00:06:27 Oh. Yeah. Let me get you together. Yeah. Whoa. But I'm saying, what difference does it make if y'all guys winning? Winning? So, in other words, if Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Hold on. Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, T.O., and Chad Ochocinco on the field at the same time. Ochocinco's going to be okay if he just get three balls as long as they win in the game. Yeah, that's all I need is three, because my three is going to be deep. Oh, Lord have mercy.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Yeah, I'm just telling you. Hey, hold on, hold on. You know I got something for you. Hold on, hold on. Chat, everybody in the chat, when you watch my highlights, what I'm always telling you. Hey, hold on. You know, I got something for you. Hold on, hold on. Chat, everybody in the chat. When you watch my highlights, what am I always doing on my highlights? When you watch my highlights, what am I always doing on my highlights? Every highlight.
Starting point is 00:07:17 20 yards, 30 yards, 50 yards, touchdown. Like you, I don't do none of that small running slants and going for 80. That's not what I do. It's not what I did that's why i'm saying only i only need three so you was okay with your role and you were okay with your role in new england uh they didn't they didn't need me you went to the you went to the super bowl were you okay with your role in New England? No, they didn't need me. They didn't need me. I just asked you, were you okay with your role? They didn't need me.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I mean, hold on, hold on. They didn't need you. We talk about New England offense, right? The offense that's run from the outside in, where the outside receivers are used, that one, where they had Edelman, where they had Gronk, where they had Aaron Hernandez. Random Alls? Let me Hernandez. Random Alls?
Starting point is 00:08:05 Hold on, let me finish. Random Alls worked great. Are you talking about Randy Moss, the greatest player to ever play this game outside of Jerry Rice and T.O.? Come on, man, be for real, man. Yes, be for real, man. Come on, man.
Starting point is 00:08:15 You said you would be okay. How many catches did you have that season, Ochoa? Shoot, I don't know. I don't remember. Look it up, Ash. We're going to look it up. But it's not making no sense. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:08:29 No, it's not. Because you said, as long as you're with it. Did I cause a problem in New England? So obviously I was okay with my situation. So it's not making no sense. No, no, no. Yes, I was okay with it because I didn't cause a problem. It was what it was.
Starting point is 00:08:41 What you going to do? No, no, no. You didn't. Hold on, hold on. Wait a minute. Let me finish. Let me finish. You asked me, were you okay with your situation in New England? Well, what What you going to do? Hold on. Let me finish. Let me finish. You asked me, were you okay with your situation in New England? Well, what was I going to do?
Starting point is 00:08:49 Was I going to bitch and moan? That's New England. Everybody's expendable. So, of course, I was okay with it. Whatever they told me to do, I did. That's it. Let me ask you a question. So, if that was the case, why were you okay with that situation in Cincinnati?
Starting point is 00:09:04 Why did you behave in that manner? Because we getting the ass whooped in an important game. Well, you was getting whipped in that important game in the Super Bowl, and you didn't misbehave? Who? No, you what? You sure that y'all lost to the Giants? No.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Remember what happened? We were going down to score the title game, and the ball would drop. It hit off in chess on fourth down. That's what happened. No. On third down, the ball was behind Edelman. I'm not Edelman. Wes Welker.
Starting point is 00:09:31 No, that's not what happened. On that third down? It was four down. We went four. Remember? And it hit off his chest. Oh, Wes Welker. Yeah. No, it was behind him. He threw it behind him because he saw the front side safety I can't even
Starting point is 00:09:48 I can't even remember the play how many years has it been you remember Welker ran to see him Tom back shouldered him because he saw the safety coming down and he tried to save him from a headache and what you call him
Starting point is 00:10:02 didn't get his body around Wel him didn't get his body around. Wilker didn't get his body around. I can't remember. How do you remember all this shit? What I'm saying, I understand what Steve Curry is saying. Because, you know, you think that just because, okay, he great, he great, he great.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Right, right, right, right. They don't necessarily work well together. So we gotta have, okay, let's have three great players and other players. All of those players are great on their own. Right, right, right. But some players play better together than others. Some things you and TJ might have worked better than, say, you and Andre Johnson
Starting point is 00:10:42 or you and Randy or some other player because... I like that. When I think about the game of basketball, when I think about football, you see how you're naming the receivers. So there's an offense, there's a scheme,
Starting point is 00:10:54 there are tactics that we, that our offensive coordinator does and they understand the strengths and weaknesses. We know what Ocho does well. Let's say if I'm... Let's say I have... Oh shit, T.O. was there.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Let's say Andre Johnson or regardless of who the other number, shit t.o was there let's say uh andre johnson or regardless of who the other number other receivers on the other side where you already know we do well so we play off each other and you know our strengths and our weaknesses and the combinations of what we do that's the plays that are called so when i think about basketball if you have 12 of the best it i'm thinking in my mind which shouldn't matter who's on the court. The chemistry should still be the same because it's basketball in simpler terms based on the way I see it.
Starting point is 00:11:32 But you say it's a little bit more complex than that. It is because some people need the ball in their hands. Well, if LeBron got the ball in his hands, how do I keep the ball in Ant-Man's hands? Ant-Man needs the ball. see steph plays bet plays well with lebron kevin rant plays well with lebron because what they catch yeah they play
Starting point is 00:11:50 off the ball real well they don't really need the ball they can move without the ball ant needs the ball in his hand certain guys need jt he needs the ball so jt uh jason tatum not good off the ball no that's not what he did no at. Can't you shoot? No. All these guys can do a lot of different things, but what do I put him in where he can be the best? I don't need you to be good. I need you to be at your best. So they have their strengths and weaknesses too. They have their strengths and weaknesses.
Starting point is 00:12:16 So that's how you have to play that. I like that. I like that. But they look good. Okay, Ocho. Simone Biles vaults to a third goal in paris her olympic medal collection has officially reached double digit it's her 10th olympic medal seventh goal bow bows defeated brazil's rebecca andre andrade andrade excuse me rebecca andrade once again who
Starting point is 00:12:41 won silver jade carry took the bronze redeeming disappointing vault in Tokyo, where she tripped on the runway. Despite speculation about the potential retirement, Biles said after Sunday's competition that she has not ruled out 2028. Never say never. The next Olympic is at home. So just never know. But I am getting really old. That's dope. I think she's gonna she's gonna do it she you know what i think she's gonna do it just because it is at home can you imagine you talk about going off into the sunset like them and louise that's a horrible analogy i'm
Starting point is 00:13:18 just thinking about going off into the sunset it's the only thing i can think of but competing in your home in front of everybody the world is watching and you represent us right here at home. I mean, why not? What else is she going to... So if she wins another gold medal, does that change?
Starting point is 00:13:35 Does that make you think that she's the greatest? No, because she already is. But you already think... She already is. She already is. I mean, I'm just... That would be like
Starting point is 00:13:43 a personal decision. Wouldn't you think? It would be a personal decision and just wanting to do it on your home soil. But it's not really not needed. But I think the thing is that's going to be a decision
Starting point is 00:13:55 that her and her husband sit down. Are they, are they wanting to start a family? Is she okay? Does she want to put her body through that kind of training over the next several years? Does she take like, does she take a couple years off and then pick back up and say 26 to get ready for the world championships in 27 that leads into the olympics in 28 that's a
Starting point is 00:14:16 possibility also uh there are several facts like you said she's 27 that means at the time that the olympics has transpired she'll be 31 um which is really really old for a gymnast because you gotta think about it they've been competing since they were eight because they were 12 13 15 so you talk about 20 that's Tom Brady that's a LeBron James career you know there haven't been very many of those NFL players especially they play that position so imagine the taxation on the bottom. All that tumbling, all that flipping, all that shoulder, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:14:49 on the uneven bars and the balance beam and the vault and the floor, that pounding, that tumbling. Look, that's the decision that her and her husband, I'm sure they'll sit down to make as a team and he'll be like, hey, babe, what are you thinking? team. And he'll like, hey, babe, what are you thinking?
Starting point is 00:15:07 She's going to ask him, hey, babe, what are you thinking? You want to do that? Is that what you want to do? Because I'm here to support you. Just like, hey, he was in Houston. Hey, he's in Green Bay. He's in Chicago. Hey, we support each other.
Starting point is 00:15:21 We're each other's number one fan. We're the support system that each of us have. So would I love to see her compete? Sure. Selfishly. For me, selfishly, yes. Just say I saw Simone Biles compete because if she were to...
Starting point is 00:15:36 I'm definitely going to go. If she's competing in 2018, it Lord spares my life. I'm going to see it. If he spared mine, I'm going with you. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on good company. The podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary.
Starting point is 00:16:06 We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there. And if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 00:16:51 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General. I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra,
Starting point is 00:17:32 you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Katie Ledecky ties the record for the most gold medals by a female Olympian with an 800 freestyle win,
Starting point is 00:18:15 her fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal in the event. It marks the first time that a woman has ever won four goals in the same event. It also brought Ledecky's career total up to nine Olympic goals, which ties her with the Soviet gymnast Larissa Latina for the most all-time by female Olympian. Ledecky logged a time of 8 minutes, 11 seconds, 8 minutes, 11.04 seconds to clinch her latest goal,
Starting point is 00:18:44 Australian Ariana Titmuss. 8 minutes, 11.04 seconds to clinch her latest goal. Australian Ariana Titmuss and American Paige Madden. She took the bronze. Madden did. Titmuss, who beat Ledecky in the 400.
Starting point is 00:19:00 She beat him in the 400. Took the gold. Took the silver, excuse me, and close. Normally, they're not this close to a decade. Only a little over a second, almost a second and a half. Normally, we saw last time Ochoa, when she won the 1500, she had to high-five the crowd. They're coming down.
Starting point is 00:19:22 They're just not coming down. She waving. Yeah. Hey, how y'all doing she got a towel she dried off and they what hell y'all laid out the pool yet but congratulations katie ledecky the first female to win gold in the same event for different Olympics. Nice. So here we are. Jenny Thompson. Okay. Jenny Thompson, American. She had 12.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Emma McKinnon. She has 12. Dara Torres. She has 12. Natalie Copland. She has 12. Allison Smith, 10. Oh, I don't know. This German and this Leslie Jones has nine. But Emma McKinnon is still swimming.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Still? Yeah, she just won the backstroke gold. Okay, okay. I think if I'm not mistaken, she just won the two-under backstroke gold. So she's still swimming. So Ledecky can't let up. But we got the top two spots right now. And I think that's it.
Starting point is 00:20:33 Swimming is over, isn't it? The mixed relay was the last. Unless they got the individual, the women's individual medley. And what are they hit with these women? Okay. Medley. Australian's it. Hey.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Yeah. So we need, we need, the men need to get a gold medal. This will be the first time in 120 years. If the men don't win an individual gold in swimming, it'll be the first time in 120 years if the men don't win an individual goal in swimming it'll be the first time in 120 years that we haven't meddled or have gotten a gold medal in swimming my goodness matter of fact i got a question for you real quick uh the 200 400
Starting point is 00:21:18 what no how about the 100 meter semis when is that tomorrow you're talking about so yeah for the men so is this morning like what tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow four in-meter semis? When is that? Tomorrow? You're talking about for the men? Yeah, for the men. So it's this morning. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Four in the morning? The semis and the finals are tomorrow. Four or five in the morning? Yeah, I guess.
Starting point is 00:21:33 What time does it start? Because they're six hours ahead. I mean, for me, they're six hours ahead. So I want to make sure. Because I want to make sure I go to bed after this fight tonight. Because I don't want to miss... Actually, I might as well just pull an all-nighter. Because I'm not missing that.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Because you got to think, Crawford and Dew fight tonight, maybe 11 o'clock, so that won't go off till 1. So I might as well stay up the next three hours. Yeah, the prelims come on at about 10 minutes to 4 your time. So I'm going to pull an all-nighter then. I might as well stay up the next three hours. Yeah. Is it the prelims come on at about 10 minutes to four your time? I'm going to pull an all-nighter then. I might as well just stay up the whole night. Okay, bet.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Yeah, that's the only all-nighter you're going to pull watching TV. You can't pull one like O.R.! O.R. pull up on that Red Bull! Nah, nah, nah, nah. But hold on. Wait. You should be able to pull an all-nighter too, because look, Crawford. I can! Crawford fight at 1130. I ain't talking pull an all-nighter too. Because look, Crawford. I can't. Crawford fight at 1130.
Starting point is 00:22:28 I ain't talking about the all-nighter. What kind of all-nighter you talking about? Yeah. On Red Bull. And them diamonds. Oh, no. I can't do that. I can't do that.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Yeah, I know it. I know the all-nighter. You go pull. I can't do that. I can't do that. Listen, you get to three minutes and that's it. If you don't get yours when they get mine, you fresh out of fucking luck with me. I'm a cross country driver myself.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Hey, hit the horn. Hit the horn real quick. Hit the horn. You remember when you was a little kid? Yeah. You see the big man? Yeah, you see the big man? Boom. Yeah, boom. You remember when you was a little kid? You see the big bag? Yeah, you play big. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:23:13 United States women's national team won nothing over Japan. Trinity Rodman, an extra time goal, lift the U.S. to the Olympic semifinals. Japan shut down the front three of Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Smith
Starting point is 00:23:27 for much of the game. The trio had been so dominant in group stage, slowed in the knockout round. For the first time in the Paris game, the U.S. had to rely heavily on the defensive play
Starting point is 00:23:36 until Rodman was able to hit an upper 90 shot to give the U.S. the lead. Hey, listen. Hey, we got a tough one coming up, boy. Who we got? U.S. the lead. Hey, listen. Hey, we got a tough one coming up, boy. Who we got? Germany.
Starting point is 00:23:50 Yeah. Did we already beat Germany? We beat Germany earlier. Hold on, hold on, hold on. We put that thing on a 4-1, I think. Hold on. 4-1 for the 4-1. Hold on, man.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Hold on, man. Hold on, hold on. I mean, I know I'm not tripping. It was 4-1 last time? Yeah! You sure? Early. Didn't we play Germany? We played Germany early. Didn't the U.S. play Germany with me?
Starting point is 00:24:23 Nah, I'm not. I must be tripping. I'm almost certain we... Nah, we beat Belgium. Yeah, I was going to say, boy. No, I'm... 0-1. We got something for them, too. Yeah, but we listen.
Starting point is 00:24:42 We don't run... But now we beat... Hold on. Yeah, we beat Germany. 4-1. You sure? Yeah. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:24:57 We opened up a fresh can. Yeah. Because they had gotten stale over there, so we opened up a fresh can to whip ass on them. Bopped it over them. Oh, I like it. Oh, Joe. When we had this discussion, I made Khalif. Dealt with a very emotional week with tons of people online questioning her gender and calling her name.
Starting point is 00:25:21 And she let it all out after her quarterfinal win. The Algerian Olympian beat Hungary's Anna Luka Hamari this morning, winning by unanimous decision in a quarterfinal match. And tears immediately came pouring down her face. She's guaranteed at least a bronze. Now, you do realize, Ocho, this is not her first time fighting. Nobody said anything when she was getting molly walked
Starting point is 00:25:45 ain't nobody said women beating a man ain't nobody said a woman now she been fighting now the Italian woman said well I want to apologize because I didn't want to cause a firestorm really you got punched in the face look if you don't like getting punched
Starting point is 00:26:02 you probably shouldn't be boxing no if you don't like getting punched in the face, you probably shouldn't be boxing. No, if you don't like getting hit, you can't box. Because even Mayweather done got punched in the face. It's like, man, they be hitting out there. There are a lot of football players that's playing basketball.
Starting point is 00:26:20 That's what football will do. It'll make you go play another game. Oh yeah, definitely. Make a man make you go play a dunk. Oh, yeah. Most definitely. Make a man out of you. Make a man out of you. Now, all of a sudden, the people that was criticizing, well, I didn't know. Well, I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Well, you should have known. Stop trumpeting. Because you know who doing this? Man, that Russian propaganda. Russian. That's why they took it away from him. Now, if she done caused this firestorm or I ain't never been hit so hard in my life and you want to talk
Starting point is 00:26:48 about you sorry remember how I said it on the show now you see how one person said this and it got parroted and it got that's why I say people are like oh words don't hurt no they got a whole nation a whole
Starting point is 00:27:02 millions billions of people talking now where where are they running with the same thing ain't nobody saying where are they now yeah where are they now yeah y'all done ruined out and impugned this woman's this woman's reputation her good name where are you now now when she was losing, ain't nobody said a word. Ain't nobody say that's a man getting beat by women. Yeah. She went a little bit.

I mean, they keep talking about XY chromosome, XY chromosome equal man. So I'm just saying, can a man have fallopian tubes? You know what?
Starting point is 00:29:19 I didn't, when I had anatomy, you know, I skipped class. I skipped class. So I'm kind of out of this one, you know, skipped class. I skipped class. Starting point is 00:29:37 A man having a fallopian tube. Man, they just look. They just want to talk. They just want to they make they just want to talk they just want to laugh i think i think we're in agreement agreeance that men should not compete against women even if you start if you start as a biological man you choose to live your life if you choose to live your life as a woman have at it you have my blessing when you try to compete against women after you started as a man you do not have my blessing i'm against that i mean everyone
Starting point is 00:30:12 everyone should feel the same if you're born with an app if you're born and there are situations where women are born with an x chromosome, but they have the internal organs. That's just me. Yeah. I mean, just you. It should be everybody. No. But see, but that won't fit.

Starting point is 00:33:44 the football thing going back and forth. I like that shit. I like that. We don't do that enough. The last time me and you got like that was when we did, when you told me to pick between the boxes. That's the
Starting point is 00:33:59 best shit when we... And you big go, what's it called? It's a funny thing. People in the chat really think we arguing, but they don't understand that's how we talk. We having this conversation. When it's serious, though. Like a serious conversation. Yeah, people think we arguing.
Starting point is 00:34:16 But we ain't arguing. Let's see. WJ2285 says, hey, guys, what do you think of being disqualified for a false start and four years of work is over before it started? Love the show.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Well, that's the way it is now because what transpired was guys would – men and women was jockeying around with the start and you four or five starts trying to gain a competitive advantage. This is OK. We will stop this one. And you go. Yeah, it's tough. It's very, very tough. I mean, can you imagine four years being in a situation?
Starting point is 00:35:19 You know, Joe, you train four years in the fall starting. That's crazy. Yeah. Nightcap, baby. Hey, I got me an outfit for the rest of the month. Cho-Cho, you train four years and the fall's starting. That's crazy. Yeah. Nightcap, baby. Hey, I got me an outfit for the rest of the month. Yeah, it's tough. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on good company. The podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation
Starting point is 00:35:50 that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide, and hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things
Starting point is 00:36:31 up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra,
Starting point is 00:37:18 you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. GMAC 2 said, Alfred took that medal. Shout out to St. Lucia. Well deserved. Alfred is from St. Catherine High in Jamaica.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Well, I don't know where she's from. She represents St. Lucia. Oh, St. Lucia, they pay a lot of money for gold metal, don't they? How much they pay? Yeah, I think they pay a lot. Yeah, I see. I know. So they probably, man. Julian, man,
Starting point is 00:38:19 because she ran the University of Texas. She went to UT? Okay, okay. That's live. Am I... Baby girl, Sha'Carri, she going to be all right?
Starting point is 00:38:32 She going to be back next year? I mean, I'm talking about next year. She going to be back. Wait, how old is Mitch Richardson? 24. That's it?
Starting point is 00:38:42 Oh, we good. We good. We good. We good. Joe Johnson, ISO Joe, donated $100 and said, yo, Uncle Nocho, whenever y'all come to Atlanta, come join me for some hot yoga
Starting point is 00:38:55 at my spot, ISO Joe. That Joe Joe? That Joe for real? Yeah, I know, yeah. That's really Joe? Goddamn ISO Joe, man. Boy, I put your head in the bucket, boy. Play me one-on-one. I come to Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:39:10 You beat me one-on-one and I do hot yoga. How about that? Hey, man, I take Joe off the post, man. Man, hey, it's hot yoga all the time. I don't know about you, old Joe. It be hot yoga. It be some stretching going on and a lot of sweating. That B-group. You know I know about you, Ojo. It be hot yoga. It be some stretching going on and a lot of sweating. That Bikram.
Starting point is 00:39:28 You know I'm good at Bikram. Bikram. That's the hot yoga where they put you in that room about 110 degrees and you have your sweat. Why the room got to be hot? I don't understand how people... Hey, Joe. Tell me something. Hey, Joe. I know you're listening, baby. Tell me something,
Starting point is 00:39:44 man. I don't see, I can't sit still. I can sit still and play video games for eight, nine hours a day. I can do that. How do you sit down and do downward dogs and just quiet and do all this stuff? Like, and no entertainment, no nothing. Like, I never understood it.
Starting point is 00:40:04 But Joe, for you, when I come back, matter of fact, when we go to the show, when we do the show in Atlanta, August 22nd, I'm going to fly in a few days early. Joe, I'm going to do hot yoga. I don't see how you sit. I can't sit still. I couldn't sit still in high school. I couldn't sit still in kindergarten. I don't see how y'all sit still for hot yoga.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Like, you're not doing nothing. There's no entertainment. You can sit still for hot yoga. Like you're not doing nothing. There's no entertainment. You can see, you can sit still. Cause see right there, see, if your mom or your grandma cut your ass,
Starting point is 00:40:30 you can sit still. It's amazing how I couldn't sit still either in class. But when I got home, when my grandma said, sit your ass down, I'm like, Kyle.
Starting point is 00:40:37 But that's different. That's, that's, that's, that's authoritar. Anytime, anytime it's authoritar, you know,
Starting point is 00:40:43 I'm gonna sit down. Yeah. I mean, a lot of these symptoms that kids get diagnosed with now, my grandma beat that out of us. Man. Man, if you're from the South, I can just speak to people in the South.
Starting point is 00:41:03 If you're from the South, y'all know exactly what I'm talking about. ADHD, all that. Hey, it wasn't no such thing, huh? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's funny. Oh, that's funny.
Starting point is 00:41:17 You know, hey, I had to get older before I worked on my list and started. Right, right. My grandpa said, boy, hey, start over. I'm going to cut your ass if you don't slow it down. Man, you thought my cousin was goddamn Dr. King. Hell no.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Man, them old people. Man, them old people man them old people not back then like the kids oh he got ADHD all that all that excessive talking
Starting point is 00:41:51 and no bad and interrupting the class what let the hey let that teacher let that teacher say send him something
Starting point is 00:42:01 one more time send something home again man sorry man now you can't man them old people just say, send him something one more time. Send something home again. Man. Sorry. Man. Now you can't let the day. Man, it won't be,
Starting point is 00:42:09 but it played bad. Today you can't, well, you can't, you can't touch your child today. Can't touch him. No. No,
Starting point is 00:42:16 hell no. But see, and they know that. Yeah. That's why. And if, but see, there was just a certain level,
Starting point is 00:42:23 not, not everybody, but there's just a certain level of not everybody but there's just a certain level of respect where i grew up anybody that was older than you could correct oh yeah always always you know they saw you doing something wrong hey hey hey little boys what you doing you want me to you want you want me to tell you want me to tell me oh you don't want that no man you don't want that oh hey boy if, boy, if I tell Mr. Barney, there was a level of respect.
Starting point is 00:42:51 There was a level of correction in the community. It ain't talk back to no, you ain't my mama. You don't tell me what to do. I ain't never hear nobody say that. Back then? Huh. Boy, you were picking your teeth off the floor. The funny thing about it is it take a village back then, and the village did what they were supposed to do. Now, if you do
Starting point is 00:43:08 something wrong, whoever catch you doing wrong, they gonna whoop you. And wait till your parents get home, and when your parents get home, you gonna get whooped again. Get it again. Yes. Think about all the videos today, Unc. Think about all the videos you see of kids
Starting point is 00:43:23 talking back to their parents, pulling away from their parents, talking trash. I don't want to be here no more. I don't know why you even had me. I'm sick of this shit. What? What?
Starting point is 00:43:37 Mm-mm. Shh. Man. Mm-mm. Yeah, all right. Bad to both people. Hey. Barney Porter said
Starting point is 00:43:45 hey boy don't make me don't make me chew this food twice like what do you mean by saying chew that food twice he ain't want to repeat himself hey hey
Starting point is 00:43:57 what do you mean by that okay hey I can hear bad of old of old people that play Ocho I can hear my grandma now man I can hear. Man, them old people that play Ocho. I can hear my grandma now, man. I can hear my grandma now.
Starting point is 00:44:08 I beg, I would beg my teachers not to write me a referral. Please don't write me a referral. You're not going to have no more problems no more. Mind you, I was at Miami Beach Senior High as a freshman. My grandma was right around the corner at Nautilus Middle School. So she purposely wouldn't let me go to the schools in the inner city so she can keep an eye on me. If there were any problems, she can get to me real fast. Right.
Starting point is 00:44:31 Here I go, still acting up. And she right around the corner. Oh, so you still want to act up? Oh, we get home. Oh, they done called me and I heard about your referral. Do me a favor. Go out there and get me a switch. Mind you, I go out there and find a I try to go get the smallest
Starting point is 00:44:51 switch I can find off the mango tree ain't no mangoes nah but I'm on the mango tree trying to get the smallest switch I can find now if you bring me a switch that's too small I'm gonna go out there and get the switch my goddamn self now play around if you bring me a switch that's too small, I'm going to go out there and get the switch my goddamn self. Now, play around if you want to.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Yes. Man, I used to run, though, Joe. My grandma catch him spanking. Spanking ain't catching nothing, here. Oh, Joe. Catch him spanking. Oh, she had to hit her. Hey, and I would
Starting point is 00:45:23 get another beat because I you know I push the screen down and then push the screen out now flies mosquitoes gonna be coming to the house boy my girl my heart oh boy she gonna tear my ass up when I get home you know what I stayed out there about four or five hours in them branches
Starting point is 00:45:41 the mosquitoes getting bad I'm like man let me go on back and bad. I'm like, man. Let me go on back and take this. I remember them days, man. I miss old Bessie Mae flowers, man. I got some stories, boy. I got some stories,
Starting point is 00:45:58 man. If acting up in school, all they had to do was say, hey, you don't want me to call Miss Mary, do you? Nope say you don't want me to call Miss Mary do you nope I don't and hey and they already know boy Barney Porter came out there it's going to be hell to pay now
Starting point is 00:46:13 hey it's going to be hell to pay so I'm going to be on my best behavior hey guys you have been told to do a play on the field hell to pay. Oh, man. I'm going to be on my best behavior. Damn. Dr. Frankie M. Bellman, hey, guys, you have been told to do a play on the field,
Starting point is 00:46:28 but ignore a coach because you knew the play was better. Hell, nah. Nah. Hell, nah. I haven't. If anything,
Starting point is 00:46:36 the quarterback had the jurisdiction to change it based on what he saw in front of him, but us? Oh, hell, I ain't had that kind of thought, Tom.
Starting point is 00:46:45 I changed the play one time. For real? I did. I didn't change the play. I switched positions with cars. Okay, okay, okay, okay. So you did the ball, though? So you did the ball?
Starting point is 00:47:00 Yeah. But the one time I should have switched positions, it was the time in... 93. And we had a... We had a like a... We had a tight... A double tight end Tiger.
Starting point is 00:47:18 The off tight end was called Tiger. Some people call it L-Fly. But... If I'd have done it, Ocho, I'd have 1,000 yards. So I'd have had four. 1,000-yard season in a row? 96, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:30 I had 96, 97. Oh, I'd have had four 1,000-yard receiving seasons because I ended up five yards short. But it was a situation where I thought, looking at the form, looking at what they was a situation where, um, I thought looking at the form, looking at what they was doing defensively, I could get down there and influence the safety, uh, quicker than Carswell could.
Starting point is 00:47:54 But I didn't think that they was going to change the coverage because of the position that I was in. The reason why they was going to play the coverage that they were going to play is because I was going to be the tight, the tire. And he was going to play the coverage that they were going to play is because i was going to be the type the time and he was going to be the m i mean the why once i once i flipped it well they flipped the car so uh break room what are your three top comedian movies of all time?
