Starting point is 00:00:00 That, what I just described to you, allowed for me in my third year of business to close 109 transactions. Starting point is 00:01:15 identifying someone successful who shares our likeness and leveraging their achievements as a blueprint for our aspirations. Join us on this insightful exploration of finding your perfect role model in the latest no broke months for real estate agents. Episode, episode. So I want to ask you this question. What specific activities are required to be able to be performed for you to reach that goal?
Starting point is 00:01:41 If you'd like to share a specific activity that you need to do or you could choose to do. Go ahead, Diana. More networking. Okay. More networking and outside activities, I'd say. Possibly even philanthropic. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Can we be specific? So more conversations, maybe scheduling those things. So that's specific, right? But if we say more conversations or we say, I'm going to set up two Zooms a week with Dan, that's a very different outcome than I'm going to set up more Zoom conversations with Dan. Would you like to read it clear what you're going to do? Yes. So I am going to go on at least one networking a week and find a group or organization to join.
Starting point is 00:02:34 All right. So now you have clarity on that. You're more likely to be able to get the outcome. You see that? Yes. Awesome. So we talked about where you want to go. What specific activity will you take to be able to get there? Who'd like to share?
Starting point is 00:02:49 I will. All right, Kathy. Time block. Time block. OK. And what does time blocking mean? Walk me through that. So I know how are you going to do that, if you could, please. Set aside specific time every single week or every single day, actually, to do specific activities such as cold calling or coming to your meetings. Fantastic. What I want you to consider, Kathy, and for everybody, when I was, I'm still very actively involved in my real estate sales business, but I'm also not like the only person in the business. And so when it was just me, I would time block
Starting point is 00:03:27 as follow. I would time block every single morning from 9.30 to noon for lead generation. I would time block every single afternoon, two listing appointments. And that was the only things I would time block. Now, I don't have the capability to do that any longer. Right. But what do you mean, Dan, you're going to time block. Now, I don't have the capability to do that any longer, right? But what do you mean, Dan, you're going to time block for two listing appointments when you haven't booked any? So I would look at my calendar. Let's see here. Down here would be lead generation. Down here would be my listing appointments. So then I had a clarity on what my job was. What was my job? My job here was to fill these boxes. So my job when I was lead generating was to set my appointments. And the way that my schedule was, was I had two appointments every
Starting point is 00:04:14 single Monday to Friday and one appointment Saturday morning. My job was to fill these appointments. Now I played around with time for lead generation. I played around with specifics, like a certain amount of appointments. What I found for myself was I started with, I'm going to lead generate until I get one appointment. When I very, very started in business, that was my, that was my rule of thumb. I will keep doing this today until I set an appointment. I will not stop until I set an appointment. At some point, I became skilled enough that I was undercutting myself and I could set two appointments in a three-hour block. So at some point, it transitioned from I'm going to keep doing this until I set an appointment.
Starting point is 00:04:57 So I'm going to do this for a certain amount of time. And then once I got the momentum, that three hours went to an hour and a half. That what I just described to you allowed for me in my third year of business to close 109 transactions in 2010. OK, now you may say, well, I don't want to close 109 transactions. I get that, but I think that's bullshit. I get it, but I think that's a limiting belief because I can tell you that because I did that, I was able to design a life that I'm really grateful for. Right. What most people you know, what most people resist is, OK, what's it going to take for me to get from here to there? And I don't want to do that work. And so now I'm going to make believe like, well, I don't want to be that successful without the understanding to say what I really, truly want is time, freedom, go travel,
Starting point is 00:05:51 but I'm not willing to do the work to get there. So going back to you, for time blocking, I would recommend that you consider some sort of cadence like this. It's a very simple cadence. And now guess what? Don't let anything get in the way of that. Make it simple. But what we do when we time block is we let everything else get in the way. Thanks so much for listening to the No Broke Months podcast today. Until the next show, I invite for you to be grateful, make good choices, help someone, have the best day of your life, and go find a listing.
