So, that forced me to have to use this old thing and I'm grateful that I had this old thing in the
cabinet. A little French press and I'm enjoying my coffee this morning more than if I would have
had the Keurig. Is that straight

Good. And are you doing something specifically to be able to track those
higher price points and more sellers besides? So sorry, what did you say?
Sorry, I cut you out there.
Besides, sorry, besides just the focus. Good morning, Terry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Good morning, Rachel.
Somebody else tell us something good.
I picked up a new team member.
Boom.
Good job.
Oh, so did I.
In fact, he's not here.
Maybe I did not.
Maybe you didn't.
Oh, goodness gracious.
Maybe I did not pick up a new team member.
We'll see, to be determined.
Good job, Terri.
Thanks.
All right, let's talk about leadership.
So what is the definition of leadership?
Who knows my definition of leadership?
Talk softly and carry a big stick.
That's always a FDR?
I said, no, that's true.
Very good.
Yeah. I just was reading a book on, I just actually was reading a book on him, on him and Lincoln,
Truman and Teddy Roosevelt.
Anyways, what else?
What, who else has a definition?
That's not my definition though.
I think it's a good definition.
I can't take away from an icon like that.
Leadership is leading through teaching.
I love that, Josh. I love that. I may have to redefine my answer for leadership.
I'm going to reframe that a little bit.
Leadership is teaching somebody how to get what they want.
Legally, right? Leadership is teaching somebody how to
think so that they can get what they want.
You do so through teaching. you do so through teaching.
You do so through guiding.
Josh had it right almost completely.
He said it's about teaching.
I'm going to expand on that.
My definition of leadership is to teach somebody how to
think so that they can get what they want.
And when you do that and you do that through teaching, then you're able
to then attract them to you and you're able to build trust between you and them and you're able
to then build on that trust so that they can follow your lead. All right, that's my definition of
leadership. We're going to talk more about leadership here in just a few minutes. Before I do so, I want
to go back and I want to build the house again, the CPI house. What's the foundation of a business? If we're building. Okay, mindset. I'm going to do I'll go in mindset. I wrote down belief, but mindset. I'll give you a pass on that. Good job.
And then once we do, once we believe in ourselves and what specifically do we have to believe in ourselves about or to do?
believe in ourselves and what specifically do we have to believe in ourselves about or to do?
Figure it out. Figure it out. All right. I love it. So when we can believe that we have the ability to figure the problem out, that we have the resources available to us, then we're set to
be able to be successful in life with the technology that we have right now,
with the ability that we have right now to be able to to find any answer to any
problem whatsoever literally at the tip of your your every one of you have
something like this that you could pick up and show us right now unless if
you're using it for this call right Like you have the ability to figure out any problem. Just got to ask. So once you understand that, then you can start to build upon
that. So what's the first thing that we do in business after belief on the first level of
building a business? Josh said lead generation. I think some other people may have said something
like the same. Lead generation would be the answer. Lead generation makes you money. How do we divide lead generation into three categories?
General categories. Time, money and networking.
I love that. I was going to say prospecting, marketing and networking. And Terry took a step forward on us. Prospecting cost you what?
Time.
Marketing cost you what?
Time.
Then networking cost you both,
but mostly time for networking.
Now that we're finding business,
we believe in ourselves, we're finding business.
Now we want to be able to get to the next level.
What do we have to do to get to the next level?
Leverage.
Leverage, and how do we do that?
Hire the right people.
All right. Hire the right people.
How do you know when you're hiring the right people?
Scarlett, they say.
Oh.
I got that too.
Yeah.
They stay. They're both right answers, right?
So I was looking for a different answer,
but I think you guys both gave answers
that would be correct.
But the answer I'm looking for is
understanding who you are first.
So the key to success in hiring is knowing thyself.
Now for me, I came up with the acronym SCARLET.
That may not work for you.
I just give that one as, hey, here's a good framework,
use it.
SCARLET, by the way, for those of you that don't know, is self, it's an
acronym. So S is self-starter. C is competitive. A is assertive. R is
relationship based. T is teamwork. And that's Scarlett. So I look for those
five characteristics in a behavior
and the way that somebody treats, because that's who I am.
If you wanna know who Dan Rushon is, I love to learn.
I am competitive as a competitive can be.
I say I'm not competitive, it's just their fault
if they think they're gonna win, right?
That's the way I think, right?
That's not me being competitive.
That's just other people not being very wise.
The best leaders, they don't sell.
They teach, they build trust, they change lives.
Teach to Sell is going to be published

you're never going to see again. Your future followers are waiting because people don't
want to be sold. They want to be led. It's your time. So, all right. So, understanding who you are is the first step, and I'm teasing a little
bit there, is understanding the first step of building an organization, which then leads us to
where we are today, which is now that we're scaling, how do we sustain? How do we build it so it no
longer exists based off of us? Now, how do we do that? That's leadership. That's leadership. The definition of leadership is?
There's a million. I'm not sure what you're looking for,
so I'm going to decline to answer.
Teach someone how to think to reach their goals.
Teach another person how to think so they can get what they want.
Legally.
Yeah. That's your foundation that you're holding up. That's great.
The other thing too that I always want to put into this is with leadership,
the way to really succeed is to understand that the speed of the leader is the speed of the follower.
Love that.
Yeah, that's the law of the lid by John Maxwell, another way to say that.
If you're a 10, you're going to track 10s.
If you're a 7, you will not attract an 8 or a 9. All right, which goes into why we start here with
the belief piece of it. For you to be a 9 or a 10, you got to believe in yourself. You've got to
believe in yourself because if you don't ask, if you don't elevate your own abilities above a three or four,
then you're not going to get
anybody over a three or four to be able to follow you.
If you want to know the evidence of that,
what would the evidence of that be?
Where the team agents don't do anything?
Steve, let me ask you a question.
How would you rate Terry on a scale of 0-10?
Careful. A 12.
Terry, how would you rate, how would you rate, how would you rate Steve on a scale of zero to ten?
Be nice. I think he's a 10 plus. I think that he hits all of the marks. I think he is always
outgoing and he's willing to share with anybody any kind of knowledge that he has.
he's willing to share with anybody any kind of knowledge that he has. What does that say about Dan?
Dan is attracting really good people.
Yes. Yeah.
You can see this in play.
That doesn't mean that Dan,
here's the thing, in the way that I look at
leading high-level leaders is it's a collaboration.
That doesn't mean that Dan's in the front of the pack there.
In this case, I'm attracting and then I'm collaborating.
Sometimes I'm leading, but sometimes Terry's leading.
Sometimes Steve's leading.
Right? And it's paying attention to each other, respecting each other and following each other.
You guys follow me on that?
Let's talk more about leadership.
Over the years, I've faced numerous challenges, messiness
and incredible successes.
And each step taught me the lessons
I never thought were possible.
Lessons that have shaped me as a better leader.
Here's some valuable insights I want to share with you
that I've gained while leading high performing teams,
an insight that could transform your leadership as well.
I want you to consider when you're leading to set clear expectations
because the complaint often reflects an unmet
expectation. When you define the rules of engagement from the start you'll have
better results. I want you to take a stand for the greatness of those that
you lead. Lead to their strengths instead of their weaknesses and help your team
recognize that their power is within themselves and help to be able to
supplement your weaknesses by hiring for your faults.
I want you to listen intently.
When someone disagrees, listen twice as hard.
Always ask, what can I do differently?
What is it for me to learn here?
Respond rather than react.
When challenges do arise, pause, think,
choose the best solution, then act.
Remove the obstacles.
You wanna clear the path for your team
by eliminating the bottlenecks
and creating opportunities for success.
And guess what?
The number one bottlenecks,
particularly for small teams is you. So when you can allow for your team to have the authority to
make their own decisions based off of predetermined metrics that you can agree on using your
pre-decision compass, you'll be able to have greater success and clear the bottleneck.
to have greater success and clear the bottleneck. Attract top talent.
You want to look for people that have a drive
and a confidence and a hunger to learn.
These are the people who are going to thrive.
You want to be accountable and authentic.
Own the results, good or bad.
When things go wrong, take a look in the mirror.
When they go right, look through the window at your team.
Focus on collaboration instead of being right. You do not get paid to be right. You get paid
to persuade. Being open to other people's perspectives fosters a collaboration and
leads to better outcomes. Teams thrive when gossip, incompetence,
and personal ambition take a backseat
to unity, cohesion, and trust.
Success happens when every team member feels heard,
and most importantly, they feel valued.
Everybody, have the best day of your life.
Be grateful, make good choices, go help somebody, and have a great weekend. I love you best day of your life. Be grateful. Make good choices. Go help somebody and
