Starting point is 00:00:57 Months for Real Estate Agents talks about qualities you should look for in people when hiring someone for your team. In this episode, Dan talks about the CLRTS acronym that will help you grasp the qualities you want when hiring people. Learn more about this acronym in this new No Broke Months for Real Estate Agents episode. How do you, as an agent, hire somebody to work with you on your team, whether that be a full-time assistant, whether that be a buyer's agent, or anybody else, and then reminding you who your first two hires are, client care and marketing. Then your third hire would be a buyer's agent. Then what's the first thing that you're looking for when you're hiring?
Starting point is 00:01:46 Let's say you got a bunch of resumes. What would you be looking for in those resumes? You're looking for a record of success. Okay, so that's the first thing that you're looking for when you're looking to hire somebody. So if it's your best friend's daughter, is that somebody that you should consider to hire? Maybe if your best friend's daughter has a record of success. Okay. But what I find is a lot of times real estate agents, they don't actually take the time to hire in a way that's systematic and they end up hiring somebody that's not the right
Starting point is 00:02:14 person. So first thing that you're looking for is, does this person been successful in the role that I'm hiring for? Now, what if they're young? So what if they haven't been in the workforce recently? How could you look at the record of success if they haven't been in the workforce? What are some of the things that you could look for if they're very young? I told you guys about Tommy. So Tommy has a very interesting job right now. If anybody's interested in what Tommy's doing, ask me. He's a 20-year-old guy he's doing promotions for for a company in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:02:46 We'll just leave it at that. So anyway, so Tommy, he was president of his 4-H club for four years. He was he went to Eastern Market in D.C., which is a little sort of open air marketplace of like a high-end marketplace in dc and he sold uh pallet furniture when he was like 15 years old right so you look at like he he took a bus a school bus he bought it and he renovated it for a party bus okay like you know this is the type of stuff this kid this guy i don't even call him a kid this this guy does does that that indicate like, huh, I think this guy's going to be successful in life, right? He's 20 years old right now. So anyways, so those are some of the things that you can do. So there's a lot for us to look at there. So an acronym of what you're looking for in your hiring, and that acronym is CLART, C-L-A-R-T-S. And so what I'm looking for when I'm hiring people is competitive, learning-based, assertive, relationship-based, team player, self-starter.
Starting point is 00:03:52 That's what I'm looking for when I hire. And so those are some of the things that some of the characteristics that I recommend that you consider. Thanks so much for listening to the No Broke Months podcast today. Until the next show, I invite for you to be grateful, make good choices, help someone, have the best day of your life, and go find a listing.
