Starting point is 00:01:36 If you could consider what John Maxwell says about positional leadership, relational leadership, production leadership, developing people and leading others to lead others, then you can understand, you know, how vital and how impactful it can be to be a leader. So this leadership lesson is taught at the end of building a team. It's taught at the end of building people to be able to support you. For some of you, you've not sold any sales at all. And that means that this is the perfect time for you to consider building a team and for you to consider leadership. Before I do that, what I want you to consider and want somebody to teach us, because this is teach to sell is the way that we do this. All right. So I teach you a concept. We read it. We'll watch a video and then you're going to teach the others back. So as a foundation of this entire curriculum of why you want to recruit,
Starting point is 00:02:35 select, train, lead and motivate people to help you in your business, what are the five activities that you're going to do to be able to make money who'd like to share all money making activities lead generation lead conversion um scheduling appointments negotiations and role play scripts and role play i want everybody to write these five down right now because this is your this is your money making activities if there's only one thing you get off all my instruction know what the freak to do to make money, right? I mean, if you're looking at a business, now that's not the most important thing for me, right? The most important thing for me is to help you believe in yourself and to help you understand that you're worthy to achieve your goals and help you be the very best version of yourself possible. Yet, in a business context, you should probably
Starting point is 00:03:21 know what the heck your job is. CPI time. Number one, lead generates. Number two, convert the leads to meet with you. Number three, meet with those people for the purpose to get hired. Number four, negotiate. Number five, practice your scription role play. Now, this ties into leadership right because sometimes when you're in a leadership position and sometimes when you're leading others and you have a priority on those five things they may not have a priority on those five things because different people are
Starting point is 00:04:00 different places in their lives and they may have a different set of priorities. So the challenge is taking the gap in between what your priorities are and what other people's priorities are. I'll give you an example that we can all probably relate to. During the pandemic, she's 13 now. So what was she, 10, 9 at the time, year-old daughter? 10-year-old daughter would go to school from home right so she was in you know school from home like many of your kids were for those of you that have kids and I knew that I had to focus on my five activities in business but I had a higher importance outside of business which would be in a great dad and comforting her and helping her
Starting point is 00:04:44 and guiding her and helping her and guiding her and just being a dad. So what I would do is I would set the expectations. So I'd say to her, sweetie, from 9 a.m. until noon, I need to work. I need to be in my office downstairs, and I need to be able to be focused on my work. From noon to one, I'm going to have lunch with you. During that time period, my computer is going to stay downstairs, my phone is going to stay downstairs, and you and I are going to hang out, play games, and have lunch together. From one to six, I need to go back downstairs and I need to work. At 6 p.m., I'm clocking out. With the rare exception, I'm going to spend the rest of the evening hanging out with you. I will ask that from time to time, maybe once a week, I may have to take a phone call or do something after 6 p.m., and I'm going to ask your permission to do that.
Starting point is 00:05:41 So in other words, I set the expectations, and then then i got agreement does that work for you sweetie yes so now we have a relationship that's established so now guess what happened at 11 59 through the entire pandemic my daughter's right over there five feet away from me right now outside that door waiting for waiting for me to clock out. Now, for me to have the right to have 9 to noon, 1 to 6, focus on my money-making activities, lead generation, that's the CPI time, convert the leads to meet with you, attend the appointments to get hired, negotiate and practice your description role play. For me to earn the right to do that, I had to fulfill on my promise to my daughter. So it wasn't just like, leave me alone. It was, here's what I'm going to commit to you.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Here's what I need from you. Will that work? Yes, yes. Now we have an agreement that works for both of us. So that's an example of how you could be a leader in your life, in your world.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Thanks so much for listening to the No Broke Months podcast today. Until the next show, I invite for you to be grateful, make good choices, help someone, have the best day of your life, and go find a listing.
