Welcome to the show. How to overcome life's obstacles today. Sales coach Dan Rashan from No Broke Months for Salespeople talks about acknowledging problems but not letting them lead your life. In this episode, Dan shares a framework for not letting your problems lead you by the nose and instead striving hard because of it. Learn how to control your life in this new No Broke Months for Salespeople episode. I'm going to share with you one statement, but there's two parts to this. This happened and it is bad. I broke my arm and it is bad. My car got a flat tire and it's bad.
Starting point is 00:01:58 All right. Let's look at that framework of statements. The first part is objective. The second part is subjective. Nothing makes any of that bad, by the way. The objective part is just what happened. So I want to reframe that. I'm not happy with reframing it the way I originally did so, okay? So instead, just objectively say, here's what happened. So oftentimes, we're not in charge of that.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Sometimes we are. Sometimes we're not. But what we're always in charge of is what's said after the fact. What are you guys' thoughts about that? What I think you're trying to say is that at the end of the day, we should have control over our lives, even though there's going to be obstacles, there's going to though like you know there's going to be obstacles there's going to be challenges and there's going to be bad days but there's not going to be a worse day than the day you don't work in that and it goes all the way back to just having control of
Starting point is 00:02:56 your life there's going to be bad days good days great days and worse days and you just got to keep going through it i agree with you but I want to reframe that bad days, worst days, et cetera, because again, that's subjective and maybe reframe that to things will happen. And there'll be times where things that will happen that will empower us and move us forward. And there'll be times that things happen that will make it harder for us to move forward. Yet, you have the choice. Now, when we talk about that subjective experience, because there's a lot of power that rests in that subjective experience. And in fact, I believe that for many, it's that subjective experience that causes us to not reach our goals,
Starting point is 00:03:47 where you have about half the people that things happen and it's like okay well I got a flat tire so I can't regenerate today or I had a fight with my girlfriend so I can't regenerate today or I have to move unexpectedly so I can't regenerate today and about half the people that say well I'm going through a divorce and I can still take action anyways. So here's the thing. We all have stuff. Again, some of it's physical, some of it's whatever, some of it's situational, but it all sort of rests in our heads. And it's like, what are you going to do about it? You can dwell on it or you can acknowledge it. Thanks so much for listening to the show.
