Starting point is 00:01:33 how to take action and get into the business in this new episode of No Broke Months for Salespeople. What do you think about the risk of inaction often being greater than the risk of action? What are your thoughts? When you said about the fear, instantly, whenever this topic comes, the most important moment that comes in my mind is when I just got to U.S., I think a couple of months in and trying to figure it out, you know, what I'm going to do. And I was discussing with my husband, you know, what do you think? I have my bachelor in software engineering and have no love for that site. I just only chose that because I thought I'm going to make a lot of money, but had no passion with it.
Starting point is 00:02:21 But I graduated because, you know, I had to finish what I started. So there was no way I was going in IT. So I was having conversation with him, you know, I was new and just got my green card, you know, where I should look into. And my husband was like, you know, your personality is good. You have the confidence. Think about real estate, you know, you can look into it and you're not tied nine to five anywhere. You can give it a try. Had no idea how real estate goes, have never read anything, saw anything. So when he told me, I gave it some thought. And I had, again, remember, I just got a couple of months, had no connections. It might be something so small when somebody hears it,
Starting point is 00:02:57 but for me, it was such a big moment. I was like, okay, where should I go? Where do I start? Nobody to guide me. And my husband, he's in a corporate job 9 to 5 whenever he's back home, okay, where should I go? Where do I start? Nobody to guide me. And my husband, you know, he's in a corporate job nine to five, whenever he's back home, tired, and you know, we're just doing for dinner and everything. So it's not like that we're having a full conversation. He put me in touch with somebody, where should I go? I just knew, walking distance from my home, there's an office. And it had some sort of real estate sign out of it. I think it was a builder. And I was like, okay, I need somebody to tell me what's the first step. I woke up one day, got dressed. I walked to his office and my legs were shaking
Starting point is 00:03:35 because I didn't even know what I'm going to tell him. Like, what should I ask? I went in there and took the stairs. I remember that moment. Oh my God, my soul was leaving my body. And for somebody to be like something so small, then why are you scared? I went in there, asked the friendless lady that,
Starting point is 00:03:51 can I speak to the owner? I don't even know what to ask. So she was so weird looking at me while what I'm saying. And he heard me, he was in his office and he invited me in his room. And I asked him that, you know, I'm interested in real estate. I just don't know what's the first step. And he looked at me, he was like, okay, I am in real estate, but I am not a real estate agent. I don't even know the term real
Starting point is 00:04:17 estate agent at that time. But he said, I know a lady, Linda Vore. She's in Keller Williams, Old Town. And at that time I was so new, I didn't even know the difference between Old Town, Kingstone, you know, locations, had no idea. You can call her, you know, she can guide you. I'm sure you have to take a license and sit in a class. I was like, okay. He gave me her number. I called her and then she walked me through. Yes, you can take in-person class. You can take online class. It's your choice, all the fun stuff. It gave me some confidence. I sat down and look, you know, it was my luck that I had to be in front of you and learn from you. I forgot that she told me that she's in Old Town. I only searched Keller Williams and I forgot what was the word. I only wrote, I think town.
Starting point is 00:05:02 And for some reason, Kingstown came. And I signed up for that class. I was in front of you taking my license, joining your team. So whenever somebody talks about fear, that one moment when I was taking the stairs and going in his office, it's so, so big to me because I took this step, first step. I, you know, took very, very, very small action, but it told me about the next step, then the next step, then the first step. I took very, very small action, but it told me about the next step, then the next step, then the next step. And I cannot imagine my life without being in real estate. The flexibility it gives me, I have three young kids.
Starting point is 00:05:35 I can never be in a nine to five office job. It's very, very important for me to be with my babies and control my own time, control my own income. And that moment is just such a winner to me that just do the first step, just take the first step. And then, you know, follow it, then the next step, then the next step, don't overthink it, don't let the fear control you. Sorry for the long story. Thank you, Zee. That's beautiful. Thank you for sharing that with us. So on the other side of fear, walking up those stairs, you were fearful,
Starting point is 00:06:07 leg shaking, you don't know what to say what you're even going to ask, you're new to a country new to a culture. And you took the action anyways. And on the other side of that is an opportunity to be in charge of your own income, to take care of your three children, and to create a life and design a life that you want to create. That's what I heard you say. It's awesome. Hello, friends. My name is Dan Rochon.
