Starting point is 00:00:00 When you start a business, you should consider your greatest resource. If you have no money, the only resource that's left is what? Your time. So if you take a look at your business, you either have time or you have money, or maybe you have both. But to be able to scale, you would get into marketing. To be able to start, you would start with prospecting. Welcome to the No Broke Months for Real Estate Agents podcast.

What you need to know.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Real estate coach Dan Rochon from No Broke Months for Real Estate Agents discusses the essential differences between prospecting and marketing, two pillars of a successful business strategy. Dan explains that prospecting and marketing often get lumped together in the business world, but they serve very distinct purposes. In the new No Broke Months for Real Estate Agents episode, tune in to better understand how to balance these two strategies to fuel your business growth. We talked about the difference between prospecting and marketing. So they both cost you an asset. One costs you the asset of money, which is marketing. The other costs you the asset of time, which is prospecting. Why would you invest money into a business? Because of those two resources, one has a definitive limit of 24 hours.
Starting point is 00:01:56 The other has no limit, meaning that nobody in this world will ever have all of the money, not even Elon or Bezos or Zuckerberg. Nobody will have all of the money in the world. There may be a richest woman or man in the world, but there won't be somebody who has all the money in the world. So that means that we could always create more. So it's infinite. Probably not in a sense of, you know, maybe a mathematician may argue with me on that, but basically you can continue to create money. So that being said, when you start a business, you should consider your greatest resource. If you have no money, the only resource that's left is what? Your time. So if you take a look at your business, you either have time or you have money or maybe you have both.
Starting point is 00:02:45 But to be able to scale, you would get into marketing. To be able to start, you would start with prospecting. Now, an alternative to that would be to join a team that provides that. But I am skeptical of most teams because I believe that most teams do not provide the leadership, the training, the organization, the opportunity that you deserve, because I believe that most teams are created by people who are really good at sales. But that doesn't mean that they're good at building an organization. It doesn't mean that they're good at leadership. They can learn it. But just being good at sales doesn't mean that you're going to create a team that works. That, at least for me, has taken years and years and years. Sales, for me, comes relatively natural.
Starting point is 00:03:30 How to build an organization, I had to learn that. How to lead, I had to learn that too. All right. And so leadership is teaching somebody else how to think so that they can get what they want. So just throwing it all out there, if you're looking to sort of shortcut to say, I don't have to prospect from zero, and maybe I can join an organization that already provides me with the opportunity, I would encourage for you to consider
Starting point is 00:03:57 besides leads, what else are they providing you? They're providing you with training, mentorship, guidance, education, resources, et cetera? So that's prospecting versus marketing. Thanks so much for listening to the No Broke Months podcast today. Until the next show, I invite for you to be grateful, make good choices, help someone, have the best day of your life, and go find a listing.
