The number one sales mistake that could cost you big.
Sales coach Dan Rashan of No Broke Month months for salespeople uncovers the number one sales
mistake thinking you're not good enough dan discusses how a lack of self-belief can harm
client interactions and productivity and offers actionable insights for breaking the cycle of
self-sabotage replace self-doubt confidence in this new episode of no broke months for salespeople What is the number one sales mistake?
The number one sales mistake that I have seen in almost 40 years of sales, really,
the number one sales mistake that I have seen is not good enough.
And what do I mean by not good enough? What I mean by not good enough is,
Dan, I'll make a sale or I'll go prospect when my website is good enough because right now it's
not good enough. Or Dan, I'll go once I get my business cards because my business cards aren't
not good enough. Or I'll be able to, once I get my calendar, because it's not good enough, once I'm
able to be able to get my sales process, that's not good enough. Once I'm able to take these things
that aren't good enough, once I'm able to fix that, then I'll go make sales or worse yet and this is the the kiss of death for a salesperson i'm not good
enough now it's easy to think negatively so if you're thinking negatively i'm going to share
with you it's not your fault that you're thinking negatively because it's the human condition. All right. Now you might believe,
but by the way, you don't have to follow that negative thought. Okay. So, and you'll learn
more about that. So you may believe that maybe a potential client is not going to buy from you
because you don't have the experience or because you doubt your own abilities.
So maybe you've got that self-doubt. It's stopping you from reaching to potential clients.
Or maybe you don't have a clear roadmap that may feel like you're wandering through a maze and you
don't know which way to go. Think about like one of those core mazes and you're going through that
core maze, you get to a dead end and the know, the scarecrow jumps out and scares the
hell out of you. Right. Like, you don't know how, you know, you don't know, like, where am I going
with this? Because I don't have a clear plan. By the way, you get that clear plan when you attend
the CPI baby steps Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or maybe you're taking on too many tasks at once
and it feels overwhelming and you feel like you're not good enough to handle everything.
Because sales, man, there's like a million freaking things flying at you. You got to
generate the sales. You got to service the clients. You've got to be able to handle objections, you've got to be able to manage unexpected events.
And multitasking, the overload of it can be, I'm not good enough to be able to handle that.
Or maybe you're prejudging a prospect's interest.
And you're thinking they're not going to buy because you're not good enough.
Or your product isn't perfect.
Or your service isn't perfect.
And this can lead to missed opportunities.
Or maybe you're like an all or nothing, you know, thinking like where you're like, you know, the pressure to close every single deal can, you know, it can be daunting.
Right. So if you don't see that immediate success and in real estate sales, guess what?
The success is 90 days down the
road at least okay so if you're new to sales and you're thinking like oh my goodness i'm ready you
like like i don't have anything in the pipeline or i got rejected rejected rejected rejected
and you don't understand that it's 90 days down the road then you can be discouraged
and maybe you start thinking i'm not good enough for sales that is 90 days down the road, then you can be discouraged.
And maybe you start thinking I'm not good enough for sales.
Or maybe, now, for those of you here in the CPI community,
I really, really hope that this isn't something that's stopping you.
Yet, for people outside of the CPI community,
maybe they feel like they lack the guidance.
They don't have the proper training or the coaching, or they might struggle refining their skills, making them feel that they're not
good enough. Luckily, you're a member of the CPI community so that you know you have the guidance,
not just from myself, but from the systems and from the education and from the mentorship that you receive.
Or maybe you feel isolated in your sales journey. And that makes you feel like I'm not good enough.
That's why you chose to be a part of the CPI community so that you have that support network
so that you could feel that you are good enough. Or maybe you just lack persistence.
Because in sales, persistence is the number one trait of anything that you do. Persistence
is what's going to get you to the finish line. You may be tempted to quit too soon because you're feeling like you're not
good enough to achieve the success that you desire. So the number one sales mistake is not good enough.
