The definition of success in business. Sales coach Dan Rashan of No Broke Months for Salespeople
dives into the definition of success. Dan says that the definition of success depends on the
person and he shares two ingredients. Learn how to achieve your goal in this new No Broke Months
for Real Estate Agents episode. So what I want you to do is I want to talk about success. And first of all, success
is what I believe is a perception. Okay. Like I don't believe in success per se, because it's all
sort of BS, right? Like you can say, well, such and such is successful. Well, seriously, like what does
that mean? Right? So it's a completely subjective experience. I myself, I've never considered myself
successful in life. Now I've never considered myself not successful in life. I just don't
consider it. Okay. Right. Like I certainly as heck don't consider myself not successful. Right. But
I understand that different people perceive different things and that's fine. But success in my definition of life, so I guess I would
consider myself successful, but not the way I think that others would perceive me as successful.
Because my definition of success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal,
okay? That's my definition of success for me. And that may not be the same definition of success for you, right? But for me,
I would consider myself successful because I have over 15 years have had a progressive
realization to a worthy goal. Now, what's the ingredients that are needed for that, by the way?
There's two of them. What are the two ingredients? If you align with that definition of success,
what are the two ingredients that you would need? You want to know the two ingredients of success?
Well, if I say success, a progressive realization of a worthy goal,
then what are the two things embedded within that statement that you would need to know?
Establishing your worthy goal.
What's your worthy goal?
And what's that, Ted?
You'd have to have a goal.
Yeah, that's right.
All right.
So you'd have to have a worthy goal.
And then you'd have to have steps towards that worthy goal.
OK, now, I don't care if you take steps that are yard apart or a foot apart.
Right. So, you know, I don't care if you leap on your steps or even if it's an inch apart.
For me, even if it's an inch and you're moving towards that worthy goal, that aligns with my definition of success.
Now, I have some definitions of success in business, which is different. So my definition
of success in business is to create a business that no longer depends on you or be a part of
a business that no longer depends on you. Now, in business, I have a few that qualify for that
definition. The few that qualify for me in that definition is number
one is my BNI networking group that I established 15 years ago. That group has not needed me in many,
many years, yet it benefits from me being a part of it. So that group fits my description of
business success. My business success and my profit share with Keller Williams Realty
fits that definition. In fact, I will never contribute
another anything to that the rest of my life, yet it will still continue to grow.
I mean, unless I joined Keller Williams, which I don't believe that that's going to be true. But
then again, if you would have asked me a few years ago, I didn't think I'd ever leave Keller
Williams. So there's that as well. My revenue share from eXp Realty, that hits my definition
of success, though I'm still contributing to it and I probably
will for a very, very long period of time. But if I stop contributing to it, it still exists.
There's one more. Yeah. So I have a couple others, some investment properties, I would say
hit that definition because I don't manage my own properties. And then also some businesses
that I've invested into. And then also some syndications. OK, so those are all like my definition of success in business.
Right. So I'm just sharing this with you for you to sort of inspire you.
Now, we go back to success being a progressive realization of a worthy goal.
Then what you have to consider is the conscious mind and your subconscious mind.
Because in our world, I believe that our conscious mind is what we believe gets us to achieve our goal, but that's not true. What gets us to the goal is our unconscious mind. So if you consider your conscious mind, your goal setter, and your unconscious mind is your goal getter. So if you understand that, then your goal setter, you would be clear on what is your worthy goal.
Thanks so much for listening to the show.
