Starting point is 00:00:00 So what I want you to realize is that for you to have freedom, you first have to have discipline and for you to have discipline, you first have to choose what's the most important vital thing that such that by doing it, everything else becomes either easier or unnecessary. And then that's the activity that you want to be able to do upfront. Welcome to the no broke months for salespeople podcast, you want to be able to do up front. We reveal the new way to persuade human behavior by mastering the art of the teach to sell method. Get ready to transform your approach and achieve unparalleled success. So I had an offer on my book and then it took us a little while to work things out. So we finally worked things out. Teach to sell and how to increase your influence, avoid the number one
Starting point is 00:01:07 sales mistake, and get what you want. So there's that. So that's something good. All right, who else has something good? I'll go. Go Rachel. Okay. I got a call from an agent in California whose sister's in-laws house was on the market last year, didn't sell, so she was looking for an agent and she found me just through Googling, so that was kind of cool. She is referring out a couple of people to her, but, and new buyer as well, referral from a retired real estate agent I used to work with. So that was good. And I made a few connections to business wise this past week. What type of business connections?
Starting point is 00:01:53 Just different trades and stuff that I've kind of been looking for and also on a side kind of thing that I've been working on, got some things going with that. So, exciting. Awesome, awesome, awesome. So what I want for you is I want you to take what we're going through. And I know that we're in a unique situation right now where I'm giving you what you need.
Starting point is 00:02:21 And I know what you want is a golden ticket to how do I get more business. Yet before we go through and I go through the tactics, we have to set you up for your success so that you can have the best mindset. Does that make sense to everybody? Like we have to believe in ourselves first, get rid of all that chatter in our head that's holding us back, then I can teach you the tactics. Okay. And so just a unique thing where I know that a lot of times people for the training, they're like, hey, give me the magic widget. Great. I can do that.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Yet what I'm giving you right now is something that's more powerful than the magic widget. You probably got into sales or business ownership or became an entrepreneur because you wanted to have freedom. You wanted to be able to have money. You wanted to be able to have choice. And for many, for some, we get to to have freedom. You wanted to be able to have money. You wanted to be able to have choice. And for many, for some, we get to have that freedom. We get to have that choice. We get to have that money. But what we seldom, what many people seldom realize is that the choice comes from having a discipline. So in other words, if you want to have money,
Starting point is 00:03:24 then you have to have the discipline of saving. You know, let's say you make a hundred hours, you have to save $10 and you make another a hundred hours, you save another $10. Eventually you take those $10 and they all stack up to a thousand dollars. You invested in a website, you invested into something, you invested in something that's going to make you money because you have the discipline to save. And you want to have a healthy body. You've got to have the discipline of going to the gym a
Starting point is 00:03:48 certain many hours a week. Of watching what you eat each day. Of drinking a lot of water and staying fit and you know staying active. When you're able to do that then you're able to have the freedom of having a body that's going to serve you well. If you want to be able to have freedom of time, then you've got to have the discipline of how you spend your time. During the pandemic, my daughter was Maggie was around nine years old and she came into the house one day. We're at home and you know she's really like taking a lot of my time and she's my daughter so obviously I'm going to give her the time. I mean, she is my, my joy and pride.
Starting point is 00:04:27 And so, but I remember at the end of that day, because I didn't really get anything done in work. So I was thinking about the, and then at day I'm like, well, how can I set this up? She's at homeschooling. She's important to me. And so is, you know, being able to provide for her. That's important to me as well. So how could I get both done?
Starting point is 00:04:44 So what I recognized was I told her, I said, sweetie, here's what I'm gonna do. At noon each day, from noon to one, I'm gonna go and I'm gonna have lunch with you. I will not work. I'll shut my computer down, I'll be upstairs. And what we ended up doing was we ended up playing card games.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Oh no, there's this game called Sky Joe. We ended up playing every single day for lunch games and eating ramen and whatever whatever and creating really, really beautiful memories. And then I told her, I said, one o'clock, I had to come back down to my office and then work until six o'clock and at six o'clock, I'm going to clock out. Well what happened was I had the freedom to enjoy being a dad. I had the freedom to enjoy spending time with my daughter because I had the discipline to be able to schedule work hours when I'm working at home when I don't have a boss and stick to those work
Starting point is 00:05:32 hours and stay focused on doing the activities that made a difference because I was able to focus on those activities like lead generation, like converting leads to meet with me, like going on appointments to get hired and negotiating. This is my scripts and role-playing and because I was able to focus my time then I was able to have the freedom that I desired. So what I want you to realize is that for you to have freedom you first have to have discipline and for you to have discipline you first have to choose what. And for you to have discipline, you first have to choose what's the most important vital thing that such that by doing it,
Starting point is 00:06:10 everything else becomes either easy or unnecessary. And then that's the activity that you wanna be able to do up front. If it's fitness, it's probably working out, paying attention to your energy, to your food. If it's business, it's probably lead generating. It may be hiring, recruiting, selecting talent to you, whatever the case may be. The discipline leads to the habit and the habit leads to your success. God bless you. Hey hey salesperson, are you struggling to close deals? Or struggling to gain trust?
Starting point is 00:06:45 Or are you struggling to create consistent and predictable income? I'm Dan Groschein and I've seen it all. Starting point is 00:07:37 All right. So what we're going through today is probably the number one, well, it's got to be the number two sales mistake. Does anybody remember what the number one sales mistake is? The number one sales mistake is not good enough. But what we're talking about today is probably the number one thing that I see agents do, which is I see agents find reasons to not get stuff done. I find agents misunderstand. I had an agent that worked at my sales team. This wasn't too long ago. This individual would take off, would just simply be like, I'm going to be a dad and
Starting point is 00:08:11 I'm not going to be available. I'm not going to be available for real estate for the next 72 hours or whatever the case may be, which is fine for sporadic type things. It was pretty much like every week It was like maybe four days. I'm dad Okay Is that important to be dad? What do you guys think?
Starting point is 00:08:35 Yeah, I think so Is it also important and now now he's no longer real estate sales by the way, okay and Now he's no longer in real estate sales, by the way. Okay. And the job that he has, I know how much he makes an hour, he makes something like $16 or $18 an hour. So as a dad, let's call it 20 bucks an hour. I think it's less than that. In the United States, as a dad, do you think that he could be providing for his two kids?
Starting point is 00:09:02 Do you think he could be provided for his kids at what's $2,800, $1,600, $3,200 a month that he's bringing home? No judgment. Yet, do you think that that's enough money to be able to sustain a family? What do you guys think? It's going to be tough, right? So, the reality of it is, is it's not either or. It's both and. Okay? And so, can you be a great dad or mom and simultaneously be a great business owner? What do you guys think about that?
Starting point is 00:09:42 Can you be both? So, if you can be both, then how can you be both? And I gave you an example in that video where during the pandemic, I'm going to tell you, I think I was the best dad possible. And the example that I used in the video was every day from noon to one, I was upstairs having ramen and playing games with my daughter, but from 9 to noon, guess what I was doing. I was lead generating from one to six. Guess what I was doing.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I was serving my clients at six o'clock. Guess what I was doing most like I was going to the gym and then I'd spend the rest of the evening with my daughter. So when you have a focus, it's not a choice. And I cannot tell you how often I see real estate agents, I see business people, I see sales people falsely believe that it is a choice and falsely believe that, well, how could Dan tell me that being a dad is not important? Well, I never said that.
Starting point is 00:10:44 What I said was, it doesn't have to be a choice. You could do both. Hey there, No Broke Months listener. I've got some exciting news.
