Dan breaks down why your outcomes are always tied to your choices and how to make better ones starting today. You probably got into sales or business ownership
Starting point is 00:00:42 or became an entrepreneur because you wanted to have freedom. You wanted to be able to have money. You wanted to be able to have choice. And for many, for some, we get to have that freedom. We get to have that choice. We get to have that money. But what we sell them, what many people seldom realize, is that the choice comes from having a discipline.
Starting point is 00:01:06 So in other words, if you want to have money, then you have to have the discipline of saving, you know, let's say you make $100, you have to save $10. And you make another $100, you save another $10. Eventually you take those $10 and they all stack up to $1,000. You invest it into a website. You invested into something. You invested into something that's going to make you money.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Because you have the discipline to save. If you want to have a healthy body, You've got to have the discipline of going to the gym a certain many hours a week, of watching what you eat each day, of drinking a lot of water and staying fit and staying active. When you're able to do that, then you're able to have the freedom of having a body that's going to serve you well. If you want to be able to have freedom of time, then you've got to have the discipline of how you spend your time. During the pandemic, my daughter was, Maggie was around nine years old. And she came into the house one day. We're at home.
Starting point is 00:02:03 And, you know, she's really like taking a lot of my time. And she's my daughter. So obviously, I'm going to give her the time. I mean, she is my joy and pride. And so, but I remember at the end of that day because I didn't really get anything done and work. So I was thinking about the end of the day. I'm like, well, how can I set this up?
Starting point is 00:02:20 She's at homeschooling. She's important to me. And so is, you know, being able to. provide for her, that's important to me as well. So how can I get both done? So what I recognized was I told her, I said, sweetie, here's what I'm going to do. At noon each day from noon to one, I'm going to go and I'm going to have lunch with you. I will not work. I'll shut my computer down. I'll be upstairs. And what we ended up doing was we ended up playing card games. Oh, no, there's this game called Skyjo. We end up playing every single day for lunch games and
Starting point is 00:02:48 eating ramen and whatever and creating really, really beautiful memories. And then I told her, at one o'clock, I had to come back down to my office and then work until six o'clock. And at six o'clock, I'm going to clock out. Well, what happened was I had the freedom to enjoy being a dad. I had the freedom to enjoy spending time with my daughter because I had the discipline to be able to schedule work hours when I'm working at home when I don't have a boss and stick to those work hours and stay focused on doing the activities that made a difference. Because I was able to focus on those activities like lead generation, like converting leads to meet with me, like going on appointments to get hired and practicing.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Practicing my scripts and role playing. And because I was able to focus my time, then I was able to have the freedom that I desired. So what I want you to realize is that for you to have freedom, you first have to have discipline. And for you to have discipline, you first have to choose what's the most important vital. thing that such that by doing it, everything else becomes either easier or unnecessary. And then that's the activity that you want to be able to do up front. If it's fitness, it's probably working out, paying attention to your energy, to your food. If it's business, it's probably lead generating. It may be hiring, recruiting, selecting talent to you,
Starting point is 00:04:14 whatever the case may be. The discipline leads to the habit. And the habit leads to your success. God bless you. and Roshan, host of No Broke Months.
