talks about a
question you ask yourself daily. Who will I help today? Dan explains that the law of reciprocity
and how when you give to somebody, you get more in return. Learn how to use that principle to
help others in this new No Broke Months for Salespeople episode. Who will I help today? So the law of reciprocity that I teach from the persuasion book written by
Dr. Cialdini. Dr. Cialdini talks to us about the ways of persuasion. And one of those ways
of persuasion is the law of reciprocity. Now, I don't do this because of the law of reciprocity, yet you get the return on it.
And so what the law of reciprocity is, when you give to somebody, you get way more in return.
Or maybe not way more in return, but you get in return.
I had a life coach once, Matt O'Donnell, and Matt asked me, what did I want?
And he said, before I answer that question, he says,
I guarantee you, you can get whatever it is that you want in life if you follow my instructions.
I said, okay, go for it. And he didn't even know what I wanted. He said, what do you want?
And at the time, I had no relationship with my brother, my mom, my dad, my mom and dad. My dad
left us when I was a young kid and long, long divorce. And I said, well, I'd like to have a relationship with them.
He says, well, what's a relationship look like?
A relationship looks like they give me a call every once in a while and they say, hey, Dan,
can I help you?
And he says, well, how often?
I don't know, once a week.
Okay, here's what I want you to do, Dan.
I want you to call them three times a week and ask them how you can help them
and do that for the next year.
And I guarantee you by the year's end,
you'll get what you want.
So I did what he asked me to do
and I got what he said I would get.
