Starting point is 00:01:30 way to start planning out your roadmap for success discover how to do this exercise in the latest episode of no broke months for salespeople so i'm going to give you guys an exercise, an exercise I've done many times that I want you to do as well. This is, by the way, the number one exercise that has allowed for me to have faith in my future. I want you to have a goal in mind right now, whatever that goal may be. And I want you to think of somebody who has already succeeded in that goal. And I want you to think of that person that has a similar background as you have, similar age, similar race, similar cultural upbringing, similar everything. You look in the mirror, you're looking back at that guy or lady. Two that I did this with was Ben Kinney and Adam Hergenrother. Two just sort of ordinary looking guys. Adam's probably more physically fit than any of the three of us, but just normal white guys, middle age, both great, great success. So when I look in the mirror, pretty much that's
Starting point is 00:02:31 what's what's staring me back. But the difference is, is that they have a far greater success than what I have. It perceives success as subjective. So this is keep it at that. So I want you to think of somebody who's already reached that goal. I want you to consider, and it doesn't matter if you have the answers to this or not. It doesn't matter. That's not the point. The point being is I want you to consider when they were at the same point in time as where you are right now and you achieving the goal that you want to achieve, I want you to consider what did they do specifically. And I want you to map that out as specifically as possible. I'm going to give you
Starting point is 00:03:13 some probing questions. Who did they hang out with? What activity in the business did they do on a daily basis? Again, you may not know the answers to this. It's okay. You will create the answers to this. How did they find business? What was their physical environment? What tools and resources did they use? What challenges do you believe they had? How do they overcome those challenges? What was their mindset? What was their belief? What did they do besides the critical task to make sales? Meaning, did they take time off? If they took time off, what did they do during their time off? What did they physically look like?
Starting point is 00:03:54 Were they fit? Were they overweight? If they were overweight, what caused it? Meaning, what did they eat? What did they do or not do? If they were fit, what caused it? Meaning, what did they eat what did they do or not do they were fit what caused it meaning what did they eat they do or not do how many hours a night do you think they slept did they do activities like read listen to tom tim ferris podcast not a podcast but one of his books
Starting point is 00:04:16 over the weekend and he says 80 of the people who he interviews and he interviews you know the top people in the world 80 of the top people in the world meditate or have had some sort of meditative practice throughout their life do they meditate do they practice visualization do they practice affirmations what types of books do they read The more detail that you can get in this exercise, the more effective that you can get a roadmap to your journey to have success. What we're doing right now is the same thing I would do if I was going to do the Appalachian Trail from start to finish. I'm not going to just start walking. That seems like a risky proposition. Could I figure it out on my own? Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Yeah, I could. But could I figure it out on my own easier to find the success clues in front of me? Thanks for listening to the show today.
