Real estate coach Dan Roshan of No Broke Months for real estate agents discusses his definition of success. In this episode, Dan shares how it
Starting point is 00:01:03 is important to establish a solid goal that will ultimately lead you to achieving your primary objective. Learn how to focus on a goal in this new episode of No Broke Months for Real Estate Agents. We're going to go into Mindset Mondays. And so I want to talk about success. First of all, success is what I believe is a perception. Okay, like, I don't believe in success, per se, because it's all sort of BS, right? Like, you can say, well, such and such is successful. Well, seriously, like, what does that mean? Right? So it's a completely subjective experience. I myself, I've never considered myself successful in life. Now, I've never considered myself not successful in life. I just don't consider it.
Starting point is 00:01:52 OK. Right. Like I certainly as heck don't don't consider myself not successful. Right. But I understand that different people perceive different things and that's fine. So I guess I would consider myself successful, but not the way I think that others would perceive me as successful. Because my definition of success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal. Okay, that's my definition of success for me. And that may not be the same definition of success for you, right? But for me, I would consider myself successful because I have over 15 years have had a progressive realization to a worthy goal. Now, what's the ingredients that are needed for that, by the way? Well, if I say success, a progressive realization of a worthy
Starting point is 00:02:30 goal, then what are the two things embedded within that statement that you would need to know? So you'd have to have a worthy goal, and then you'd have to have steps towards that worthy goal. Okay, now, I don't care if you take steps that are yard apart or a foot apart, right? So, you know, I don't care if you leap on your steps or even if it's an inch apart for me, even if it's an inch and you're moving towards that worthy goal that aligns with my definition of success. Now I have some, some, um, some definitions of success in business, which is different. So my definition of success in business is to create a business that no longer depends on you or be a part of a business that no longer
Starting point is 00:03:09 depends on you. Now in business, I have a few that qualify for that definition. The few that qualify for me and that definition is number one is my BNI networking group that I established 15 years ago. That group has not needed me in many, many years, yet it benefits from me being a part of it. So that group fits my description of business success. Now, we go back to success being a progressive realization of a worthy goal, then what you have to consider is conscious mind and your subconscious mind. Because in our world, I believe that our conscious mind is what we believe gets us to achieve our goal, but that's not true. What gets us to the goal is our unconscious mind. So if you consider your conscious mind, your goal setter, and your unconscious mind is your goal getter. So if you
Starting point is 00:03:56 understand that, then your goal setter, you would be clear on what is your worthy goal. Okay. So for me, my worthy goal is I defined my mission in life. So let me give you a recipe for defining your mission. So first, here's my mission in life. My mission in life is to help others to achieve their goals. And I do so through my writing, my mentorship and my teaching. That's my, that's my's my mission in my life. Now, it's changed through time, so you don't have to be attached. You don't have to be married to that mission. But the recipe that I used there was, what's my worthy goal? To help others achieve their dreams. Now, that's ambiguous. That's vague. That's general. Yet, it's still, to me, substantial. And then how am I going to do it? And I'm going to do so through my writing, through my teaching and through my mentorship. That's my mission in life. One of my missions
Starting point is 00:04:48 in life. You can have more than one mission. And then lastly, and then I want to open up this discussion. Lastly, is what a mission is, is a mission is the steps that you take to achieve a goal. Okay. So if you look in like, if you think about this, like vision, so vision, vision for my real estate sales company, for example, is to help 250 home buyers, home sellers, or investors to buy, sell, or invest in a real, in a home this year. That's for my real estate sales company. That's my vision for that company. My mission is how am I going to get there? My vision for CPI coaching is to help 1,000 people this year to be a part of the CPI community. That's my vision. How am I going to get there? I'm going to get there by teaching 12 five-day events and having two conversations with two
Starting point is 00:05:40 agents every single day for the purpose of identifying their goals and seeing how we can help them. So you can see that the mission can be very, very simple. I do this, I do 12 of these events, and then I talk to two people a day. Thanks so much for listening to the No Broke Months podcast today.
