I believe that the worst word in the human language is the word how, when it's used incorrectly.
Because what I observe so often is people will not take action because they don't know how.

Nine essentials for excellence.
Sales coach Dan Rashan from No Broke Months for Salespeople
explores the nine powerful phrases you must embrace
to achieve excellence in every area of your life.
Dan explains that these aren't just words.
They're tools to reprogram your mindset
and accelerate your path to success. Check out the latest episode of No Broke Months for
Salespeople to discover nine essential tips to bridge the gap between your current situation
and your goals. Let's talk about creating excellence in your life. This is what I want
you guys to write down. So problems are only outcomes.
If you're having a problem, it's an outcome of something.
It's an outcome of the activity that you did.
When you know your outcome versus not knowing your outcome,
you're going to have better performance.
It's the reason why setting goals is so important.
So know your outcome.
That's called a presupposition of non-linguistic programming. Be flexible. The person with the most flexibility in a relationship will be able to have the most flexibility. If you're in an interaction with a client,
if you go and you go down a listing appointment,
they're, you know, somebody and you say like,
wow, they're a butthead.
If you're flexible in that conversation,
if you're flexible in the relationship,
you will win more often.
The person with the most flexibility
is going to be the person that's going to win.
Use your senses with precision. What's your senses
have to do with any of this? Your senses is how you experience life. Okay, your senses is your
circumstance. You're going to observe the circumstance through your senses, through your
five senses. And then you're going to interpret it through your values, your beliefs, your
perspectives. And then you're going to filter it more through your deletions, distortions, and generalizations. And then you're going to have a
thought about it, and then you're going to have a feeling about it. Then you're going to create
some sort of action, and you're going to have some sort of result. Take action now is another
presupposition. So the presupposition that I'm giving you is four now. Know your outcome, be
flexible, use your senses with precision, take action now. That gives you your personal power.
I believe that the worst word in the human language is the word how, when it's used incorrectly.
Not when it's used correctly, but when it's used incorrectly.
Because what I observe so often is people will not take action because they don't know how. Rather than say, I'm going
to take action no matter what, I just need to figure out how. I'll give you an example. Right
now, one of my intentions is to get in front of and create a relationship with three probate
attorneys. That's one of my personal goals in real estate by the end of this year. I don't know how.
I haven't really figured out exactly how to do that. There's a lot of different ways I could
do that, but what's the easiest? What's the most effective way? I know that when I sit there and I
declare something that I'm going to do, the how will show up. Does that make sense to you guys?
So when you declare what you're going to do without worrying about the word how, then you'll figure out how after the fact.
The next presupposition, write this down, the map is not the territory.
We perceive world through our map, our map of the world, okay, our map of reality. But the map of our reality is not
the world, okay? It's just a representation of the world.
So when you understand that your map of reality is not the same as my map of reality,
that's not the same as anybody else's here map of reality, then you can now
become more empathetic. You become more accepting. You can become more loving. You can be able to set
yourself up so that you can have better relationships and be more flexible. The meaning
of your communication is the response that you get. The meaning of your communication is the
response that you get. So if you get a response from somebody and you don't like that response, who's responsible?
The response that you get from another human being is the communication.
And once you recognize that, then you'll be able to take more responsibility for your communication.
That's presupposition, you have all the resources that you need to be able to achieve
whatever it is that you want to achieve,
or you have the power
to be able to figure it out.
We all have the resources
that we need to be able
to achieve our goals.
Or you can figure it out.
Does Elon Musk have more resources,
you know, at the beginning of his life
than any of us?
Because, I mean, some people may be in a different situation, a different circumstance,
but the reality of it is, is we're all human beings.
Can we all agree on that, that we're all human beings?
And some human beings get different results than others.
Does that mean Elon Musk is better in life than any of ours?
Hell no.
We have no idea what his life is. The only person in this
planet who knows what his life is, is him. And you have no idea what my life's like. And I have
no idea what your life is like. Now we can have relationship. We can care for each other. We can
develop each other. We can guide each other. But ultimately it's about being able to position ourselves so that we understand that we all have
the resources that we need to be able to achieve the goals that we want to achieve. When you
recognize that, you'll go back into that presupposition of take action now and you'll
stop worrying about, well, I don't know how to do it. And you'll figure it out. One of the biggest
pet peeves that I have in business is when I ask
somebody to say, hey, let's do this, and they come back to me, they say, Dan, it can't be done.
When I know that they're really intending to say, Dan, I don't know how to do it.
If you understand that you have the resources, you'll figure out how.
Every behavior is motivated by a positive intention. This helps you when you're interacting with other people.
What about that person that goes to the 7-Eleven and hits somebody over top with a baseball bat?
How's that a positive intention?
That person who does that had some sort of positive intention, either to have significance or to get money or to do something.
Does it mean that the action was good?
Hell no.
But if you really take a look at any single action
that anybody takes whatsoever,
you can find a positive intention behind that action,
even if there's a magnitude of negative
that's on top of it.
Ultimately, we only take action
if we have a positive intention.
Does that positive intention always make sense?
No.
Is it warped sometimes?
Yes.
But we always have a positive intention.
Now, when you realize that about other people, you again become more accepting, more empathetic,
more loving.
All outcomes are achievements.
So an outcome is only feedback.
If you have a problem, it is feedback.
If you have something that you don't like, it is feedback. There is no failure. There's only feedback. If you have a problem, it is feedback. If you have something that you
don't like, it is feedback. There is no failure. There's only feedback. So write that down as a
presupposition. There is no problems, only feedback. If it appears to be a problem,
it's feedback about something. And the last thing I want to leave you with today is to respect
other people's models of the world. When you respect my model of the world, when you respect
Les' model of the world, Christine's and Jake's and Japs', when you respect a model of the world,
you can have a much better world. Does that mean that you have to align yourself with people that you don't like? No, not at all.
But if somebody comes off in a way
that you don't like them,
you can always respect their viewpoints,
their model of the world.
And when you do so, I guarantee you,
you'll end up having better relationships.
You'll end up having more connection.
You'll end up having more meaningful relationships. You'll end up having more connection. You'll end up having more meaningful relationships.
