Starting point is 00:00:00 Because when I woke up this morning, I didn't want to take my hands and put them in that grimy, slimy, stinky water and wash the dishes. Like who wants to do that the next morning? So why did I do the dishes last night? Simple, because I didn't want to do them today. So once you understand why you're doing something and you get a presence to that, then simply it's how do I do this and then take action. Understand what it takes to take action in the latest No Broke Months for Real Estate Agents episode. I was making dinner last night for my daughter and we made some tacos. We, I guess I made tacos and I made quite a mess in the kitchen. When you make the tacos before you make the dinner, are you pretty motivated to do so?
Starting point is 00:01:53 Like, think about this. Like you go, you're working all day and you're ready to have dinner. Are you motivated to be like, Hey, I'm ready to do this. Yeah. And you enjoy that dinner. And now you got a big, you know, kitchen full of dishes. Are you motivated to clean them? Not so much. Right. But when you understand that I'm going to clean those dishes tonight because it's easier and more desirable for me to do that tonight, at least this is the way I operate than it
Starting point is 00:02:20 is tomorrow morning. Because when I woke up this morning, I didn't want to take my hands and put them in that grimy, slimy, stinky water and wash the dishes, right? Like, who wants to do that the next morning? So why did I do the dishes last night? Simple, because I didn't want to do them today. So once you understand why you're doing something and you get a presence to that, then simply it's how do I do this and then take action? Why did I quit drinking? Because I never wanted to be that shitty dad. How did I do it? I tricked myself. I said, I just need to quit drinking until I'm 60. And then I took action. When you, and I think everybody here has been through my five-day listing challenge, where we go through, why are you doing what you're doing? What's important to
Starting point is 00:03:10 you about that? And what's important to you about that? And what's important to you about that? Until you get to something that really sings to your heart. I make sales so that I could pay my mortgage. I make sales so that I could pay the bills. I make sales for me so that I can afford to be able to provide my daughter access to anything in her life that she wants. Not that it's granted, not that it's entitled, that she's entitled to it, but such that there's never going to be a closed door. If she wants to walk through a doorway, I never want that door to be closed. When I was a kid, and I love my parents, but when I was a kid, I didn't have the option of going to college easily. First of all, I was drunk and intoxicated, so I couldn't figure out how to
Starting point is 00:04:02 take care of myself to be able to afford to pay for college. And nobody sort of set me up for success to do that. So I went in the army. Would I have liked to go on to college? I think so. Yeah. Was it an option for me? I don't want to say it wasn't an option for me because we're all capable to create options, but I didn't see it. I didn't have the access at the time as, as an 18-year-old, it seemed like the door was closed. So I want to be sure. So I do what I do so that my daughter never hits a closed door, that that doorway of whatever she wants access in her life, that she's going to be capable of achieving it. So that's why I do what I do. What's important to that to me is so that I become a worthy dad. So we go back to that exercise that you do, which is why do you do what you do?
Starting point is 00:04:52 What's important to you about that? And what's important to you about that? And when you understand why you do what you do, what's important to you about that? What's important to you about that? What's important to you about that? And you put that together and you present yourself. For me, so now that we understand why you're doing, now how? For me, it's simple.
Starting point is 00:05:11 I take it and I put it on a little sticky note. I take that sticky note and I put it on my keyboard and I present myself every single day. I make sales so I can allow my daughter to have open doorways, which means I'm a worthy dad. Now, for you, it may be I make sales so that I can pay my bills. I make sales so that I can buy groceries, so that I can catch up on those last two or three months of, you know, I'm past due on my bills, which means whatever that means to you. Thanks so much for listening to the No Broke Months podcast today. Until the next show, I invite for you to be grateful, make good choices, help someone, have the best day of your life, and go find a listing.
