What gets you to succeed? Real estate coach Dan Rashan from No Broke Months for real estate
agents discusses persistence and action. In this episode, Dan shares a story about Theodore Roosevelt and
how being persistent and taking action earned him success. In this new No Broke Months for
Real Estate Agents episode, learn how to be successful by persistence and action alone.
I'm reading a book right now about Theodore Roosevelt. And that's one of the habits that
I have that I encourage for you to consider is I read historical books about successful people. It's not always in business. It's not
always in politics. And I'm really, I've read Jimmy Carter's biography. I've read Ronald Reagan's
biography. It's like, I'm looking for a broad spectrum and I do have political viewpoints yet.
So to me, there's learning in about everything yet. Right now I'm reading about
Theriot Roosevelt and I just started reading the book this morning. Actually, I was listening to
Audible while I was organizing my house and I've already gotten one lesson on it. I was sort of
getting a little bit bored with it, be candid with you. And then I realized as I'm listening to this,
that he was a scrawny, scrawny dude growing up. Well, I know what happens next from history,
right? But I don't know the story. It's a 30-hour book on Audible, and I'm only like one hour into it. And so, but what I've
already gotten as a lesson is that he got his butt kicked when he was a young man. And he went to his
dad. He says, hey, can I get boxing lessons? And so his dad's like, yeah, sure. And so he had asthma
at the time. And so anyways, what I'm recognizing is he started boxing. And guess what? He was really, really bad at boxing and he got beat like every single time. But what I'm realizing as I'm listening to the story is that he never quits. is athletically disinclined who makes it a part of his life to be athletically inclined.
Okay. So, and I know that just from like a general awareness of history, like he was an outdoorsman.
He was, you know, he did a lot with, you know, nature and animals and was really, really an
advocate for nature and outdoors and was like sort of you would think
about this guy as sort of like a man's man, if that's a thing. Yet he was the opposite of it
growing up at least. And what I got from that was no matter what the circumstances,
persistence and action in the face of adversary is what gets you success.
So if you could consider the president of the United States as a pinnacle of success, here's a guy who was not inclined to have success.
Did he have some benefits?
Sure.
He came from a family that was an upper echelon of a family.
Great.
But that doesn't guarantee you to become the president
of the united states right like he it was his persistence and his unwillingness to ever give
up that allowed for him to do that and right now he's only 12 years old in the book so uh
so i don't know what's to come but i know he i know he becomes president my point being is an asthmatic kid that's scrawny as can be, that gets beat up every single day, can take on a life
of rigorous training and something that he sucks at doing and figure it out. So wherever your
station in life is, wherever you are, you can succeed. And I want you to really believe in that. I want you to
believe in yourself. And whatever blah is happening, what I want you to do is I want you
to say, that's blah. That's objective. Now, what am I going to believe about it?
Now, what am I going to do about it?
