Think of a time you had a sales or life challenge that resulted in an unintended outcome that seemed to be outside
of your control so i want you guys to participate with us right now so what was a time that
something went quite screw great can everybody think of a time in your life that something went
the way you didn't want it to go whether it would be significant or insignificant i had something
just yesterday somebody to show up to a closing.
All right.
I didn't turn on that one, Kathy.
So thank you for sharing that.
And so I'm going to get back to you because I want to hear more about that in a few moments. But before we get into that, I want everybody else to think, not verbally express what happened.
Can everybody have something in their mind for Kathy?
It's somebody didn't show up for closing. So I want you to think that the
next question, if you had to give an answer to this,
right? Like no matter what, there has to be an answer to this.
You may have to pretend. You may have to pretend.
How were you responsible for the result that you're thinking of right now?
And I want you to consider your responsibility.
That's not the same as being at fault.
Make sure that you understand the distinction.
Being responsible is not the same as being at fault.
What actions could you personally take to get a different outcome next time?
So what happened?
How are we responsible for the result?
What actions can you personally take to gain a different outcome next time?
Who would like to share?
Kathy, you want to start?
I cut you off because I wanted to get to the exercise before we finish.
Kathy, you want to share your thoughts about what we just went through?
I guess text the person the day before saying, can't wait to see you.
That's the only thing I can think of.
Well, it's not the only thing you can think of.
It's something that you can think of.
And the reason why I'm going to push back on that a little bit,
but that's not the only thing you can think of.
Those words, you're cutting off solution seeking when you say you say those words and that is something you
could have done okay and so again it's not we're not at fault but we start to compile things to
say well what could I do differently next time to cause a different result what could I have done
differently this time to cause a different result and as you go through and you discover what you could do differently,
then you start to moving forward, create different results, different outcomes.
Again, not the same thing as being at fault. All right. So maybe next time you'll,
you'll send that text, even though it seems like something apparent that you wouldn't have to do.
