I was thinking about what a goal is.
And one of the things that I've always hesitated to,
like, I'd never liked the word goal, right? Because the
goal to me just seems superficial. It seems artificial. And so what I've realized is that a
goal without a plan is just a dream. It's just a wish, right? So if you have a goal, then you also have to have a plan for that
goal to become a reality. And so absent a plan, it's just, it's just a lot. It's just a dream,
right? And so when you consider that and you consider like the goals that you've had in your
life that maybe you haven't achieved, it's probably because you didn't have a plan.
If you had a goal and you had a plan, you still didn't achieve it is because the plan wasn't a
good plan. So what makes a plan not a good plan? Typically what makes a plan not a good plan is
when it's something that you're not like happy and excited to do. So a good plan incorporates the things that are going to inspire
you, the things are going to give you energy. Okay. If for me, I love working out. I love,
love, love working out. Right. And I haven't always loved it. Right. In fact, when I got
out of the army, it was like maybe 10 years that I spent eating Twinkies and drinking beer. Right.
Like that was my workout. Right. And then, you know, I got around 30 years old. I was like, okay, you know, I should probably change this. And I did.
But for me to have fitness as a part of my plan, it's because I enjoy going to the gym.
Now, I'm not suggesting if you don't enjoy going to the gym, don't go to the gym, right? But
you have to figure out like what works for me, Right. Let's say fitness is a goal of yours. Right. So then maybe going swimming could be, you know, could be,
I went to the amusement park with my daughter yesterday, man, I walked like 10 miles,
right. Like, even though I'm, I'm playing, but I got a little bit of a workout, you know,
cause I walked so far. Right. So you have to figure out like, if it's not lifting weights, cause you don't like
that, you know, if it's not running, cause you don't like that, you know, maybe it's maybe it's
playing volleyball, you know, maybe it's going for a walk, right. Whatever it may be, you've got
to incorporate the plan to be something that works for you. And so as you consider, and as you
consider over the weekend about like, are you reaching your goals?
If you're not reaching your goals, the first thing is, do I have a plan?
And the second thing is, am I implementing my plan?
All right. So if you have no plan, guess what?
That's step one.
If you have a plan, you're not implementing it.
Then take a look at the plan and say, do I enjoy doing this stuff that's on the plan?
Because if it's not, it's probably not going to happen.
