Starting point is 00:01:22 Why your journey matters more than other success. Sales coach Dan Rashan from No Broke Months for Salespeople discusses the all-too-common habit of comparing our lives to those of others. Dan reminds us that social media can lead to unhealthy comparisons. Instead of measuring your worth against others, focus on your journey and your progress. In the latest No Broke Months for Salespeople episode, another fresh perspective on success prioritizes you over superficial milestones. All right, let's talk about success. So success is an inside job. So when we look at success, I think what we look at is, you know, we're always looking at other people like Bob successful, Jane successful, or whatever the case might be.
Starting point is 00:02:09 And, I mean, maybe they're successful, right? You know, but I think like with Instagram and, you know, TikTok and Facebook and whatever the social media, you know, flavor of the day is, is that rarely do people put up like their struggles. I mean, sometimes people do, but it's not as, it's not as common. What people put up on social media is going to be their successes. And, you know, I understand why they do that. And, and, but the challenge that we have is that what we all have to do is we compare our insides with other people's outsides.
Starting point is 00:02:47 And so what I'm encouraging for you to consider is that your insides, like you don't see what's going on in Dan's world internally, right? You can see what's going on in my world externally, or at least a glimpse of it, not everything. You can see, hey, I got a Ms. Pac-Man back there. And if you have a Ms. Pac-Man, you're successful. Well, I don't know about that, right? Because success to me is just a perception. And so when you think about success being an inside job, not an outside, it's about embracing the things that are going to give you, for me, that are going to give you enjoyment, that's going to inspire you, that's going to make you feel good. Love, kindness, happiness, laughter. Those are the things for me, at least, that allow for me to
Starting point is 00:03:35 be able to then create things externally. Because if I'm not at a place of peace, if I'm at a place of struggle, it gets really, really hard to be able to take the action to be able to create whatever external success that you may desire, right? So it's about being, you know, working on yourself first, then as you become that person who inspires other people, as you become that person who has fun with life, as you become that loving person, then you could take the actions that a loving person would take. And when you take the actions that a loving person would take, guess what? You're going to have the outcome of a loving person. And I want you to consider how much better of a life that would be for you.
Starting point is 00:04:26 And perhaps you're already doing it, right? And so I'm not suggesting that you're not doing it. I'm just saying that when you focus on who you're being, when you focus on who you're becoming, the actions become easier and the results are created. Thanks for listening to the show today.
