Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, it's Nicole here with a programming note. New episodes of our ancestors were messy will come out every other week instead of weekly. And that's because we're an indie production, which means that everybody that helps out with the show goes to work all day, then attends to their lives, and then finds time to research and score and read scripts and listen to early cuts of episodes. It's the definition of a labor of love. And I want to be sure we make it at a pace that allows all of us on the production side to continue enjoying ourselves. these stories. But I didn't want to leave you with nothing. So here are two little treats. The first, thank you to everybody that joined the household last week and donated to the cost of production. I am so thrilled to get to nerd out with you. So on the weeks when there isn't a
Starting point is 00:00:48 new episode, I'll share director's commentary and scenes that were cut for time with everyone that's a member of the household. If you would like to join the household and have access to behind the scenes and bonus content, you can visit our Ancesters Were Messy.com and sign up today. Okay, this next thing is for everybody. It's a teaser for next week's episode and the guest reveal. I think you're really going to like it. All right.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Enjoy. A real life is stranger than fiction. Today is to transform himself from Smallville Dreamer to daring frontiersman. Look, he is the wrong guy for this trip. Legal ain't a way to hell. But to succeed, he must survive on the battlefield of love.
Starting point is 00:01:56 He hasn't seen her in three years, but he's like she's still fine. I'm so happy. Her eyes are dreamlike. Today's episode stars Dr. Ray Christian, an award-winning oral historian, host of the podcast What's Ray Sayan, and resident of rural Appalachia. I tell stories, and then I go feed dogs, cats. And your host, Nicole Hill.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Maybe I love her, maybe I won't. Hope for the best. This is Our Ancestors Were Messy, a show about our ancestors and all their drama. Well, I'm not damn. And that's Black History.
