Starting point is 00:00:04 Hey, it's Nicole Hill, host of our ancestors were messy, and I'm here to share some updates, live from this park near my house. Okay, first update. We're at the end of the first season. I know, can you believe it? It has been such an honor to get to be your historian and your archivist over the last few months, and I am determined to continue sharing these stories about our ancestors with you. I'll be for real though. I still have a lot of fundraising to do before I can promise you a whole second season. So this next episode that you're about to hear will be the last one for now, but not forever. I feel confident saying that in part because of our household. That's the community of people that are supporting the show either with a one-time donation or they've become monthly donors. They have made it possible for me to make and release a few more episodes while I look for a partner to fund the next season.
Starting point is 00:01:00 I'm so excited. I'm so stressed. I don't know how I'm going to pick which story to tell you, but mainly I'm just excited. I get to keep telling them. If you would like to support this independent production, there's a few ways you can do that. You can go to our Ancesterswemessy.com and join the household by giving one time or by becoming a monthly donor. When you become a monthly donor, you will have access to my director's commentary for each episode, deleted scenes, and bonus content. That's at our Ancesterswemessy.comcast, dot com. The link is also in the show notes. You can help by leaving a rating and review on Apple podcasts and on Spotify, in part because it helps people find the show, but mainly because when I'm
Starting point is 00:01:42 trying to communicate the impact of this podcast and why it matters that it exists at all, it's helpful to just be able to point to your words. I mean, and I like reading them. And finally, you can tell everyone you know about the show and about how vibrant and strategic and bold and relentless our ancestors were. This nation is their legacy, their fight is in every single one of us, and there's nothing anybody can do about it. I will be back in June with an update about the future of our ancestors were messy and when you can expect to hear another story. And until then, I've got one more ancestor for you to meet. A note about this next episode.
Starting point is 00:02:22 My guest and I recorded this back in November of 2024 a few days after the presidential election. I think that context will matter a little bit. All right, enjoy the show.
