Piers Morgan Uncensored - Uncensored vs The View on Trump, Pelosi & More

Episode Date: September 26, 2024

US President Joe Biden dropped in on the taping of ABC’s The View today, and seemed like a man holding court amongst friends. Rumours on the exact nature of his withdrawal continue to circulate, man...y of which paint Nancy Pelosi as the woman who finally pulled the plug on his struggling campaign. Seeing as The View is a panel of women talking womanhood, Piers Morgan has suitably assembled his own all-female panel for a review of Biden’s performance. Fox host and author Kat Timpf, host of 'The Bitchuation Room' Francesca Fiorentini, journalist and influencer Emily Austin and ex Conservative MP and author Louise Mensch all weigh in on how the President did, as well as a number of other women-centric electoral issues. Starting point is 00:00:00 It's time for you to shut up and listen to the women who are telling you loud and clear. We are dying out here. But then again, you have TDS, so I understand. Because years ago, he was looking for dead people in a crowd, right? To me, I look at that. I say, eh, that's concerning. I mean, sweetheart, if you're sending a guy nudes, it's not demure. I don't mean to be approved, but it's not demure.
Starting point is 00:00:19 Hang on, calm down, lefties. All you do on this show is play off social media algorithms to get people to fight. You lead with it in the cold open, and you get the click, click, click. and if you don't hit a mill, you never ask that person back. Well, to tell you, one of the most powerful men in the world, facing disputed claims that he's passed his best, joined an opinionated all-female panel to discuss the U.S. presidential election.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Elsewhere, President Joe Biden appeared on the view. Here with the real view, the uncensored view, is my all-star, all-female panel. Author of The Hit New Book, I used to Like You and Till, Our Binary Thinking Devises, Kat Tymth, host of the Bituation Room, Francesca Fiorentini,
Starting point is 00:01:01 conservative commentator and Kamala Harris fan, Louise Mensch, and the journalist Emily Austin. But what a powerful, all-female panel? I do feel like Biden going on the view here, completely intellectually overwhelmed. Let's start with Biden on the... I was joking, obviously.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Let's start with Biden on the view today. We've got a clip, and one of the many interesting parts of this was when he was asked directly, basically whether Nancy Pelosi had stabbed him in the back to make him quit. This was the response. Did you feel that your hand was forced,
Starting point is 00:01:35 and what is your relationship with Speaker Pelosi now? My relationship is fine. Look. I never fully believed the assertions that somehow there was this overwhelming reluctance of my running again. My polling was about, you know, we're always within range of being this guy.
Starting point is 00:01:57 I was confident I would beat Trump. I mean, Kat, it's continually disingenuous this whole thing because everyone knows what happened. Everybody knows Nancy Pelosi went to and basically said, we do this the easy way or the hard way. And he only stepped aside because they were going to go public and take him down. And his response, when he's asked about Pelosi, I thought pretty much confirmed that.
Starting point is 00:02:24 From what I've read, they haven't spoken since. Are they still just playing a bit of a game? with everyone? I don't know. I think it seemed to almost indicate that he's afraid of her a little bit. Yes. I thought it was almost kind of adorable in a way. If someone had pushed me out of a presidency, I probably wouldn't be as nice about it,
Starting point is 00:02:43 which means that whatever way he was pushed out is something that still affects him. She is, I've always been, I disagree with her on so many things. I think that she's corrupt for so many reasons, but you do have to respect the level of power and feel. and fear that she instills in people. Yeah. She's extremely, I mean, extremely powerful. People are terrified of her. She runs things and she does it with a sweet little smile.
Starting point is 00:03:10 He still won't say anything. He's still saying, oh, I think it also is quite sad that he still say that there's no evidence that, you know, he couldn't have beat Trump when really, we all saw what happened. You know, it's interesting, because there's another clip which I'll play, which is where he,
Starting point is 00:03:28 Whippy Goldberg calls Trump a bug, and then Biden responds. Take a look at this. Then he just wouldn't go. He was like a bug. He just kept being there. He was like a bug right there. So you felt...
Starting point is 00:03:44 You know, Emily, the reality of that is it was the other way around. I mean, Biden was the bug on that debate stage who got completely flattened by, well, mainly himself and his in net performance, but also by Trump. So it's a kind of rewriting of history, albeit using little insects to do it. I think it's safe we can all agree bipartisanly
Starting point is 00:04:11 that we knew what to expect come this interview. It was a very softball, fluff piece, non-hard-hitting interview that basically flattered Biden. He's not running for a reelection. They were very low stakes. I think it was more of a feel-good piece. But Pierce, that clip, what I took away from it, was the insensitivity of that joke.
Starting point is 00:04:33 You're saying that Trump is a bug, a fly, and you want to kill it. This is the same man who there were just two assassination attempts that actually shots were fired at him. So to make a joke that you want to kill it, the annoying bug flying in the room, and then they question why we say that the Democrats spread this dangerous rhetoric about Donald Trump that leads to these assassination attempts,
Starting point is 00:04:58 that's the proof of exactly what it was. Now, the worst part is Biden did that so innocently, and he wasn't keen and sharp enough to understand how badly timed that joke was. You know what? Francesca, I hadn't thought of it like that. It's just happened. But when Emily says that, the way she says it, she's got a point, isn't she?
Starting point is 00:05:18 Yeah, I think that should be your lead-off. Biden equates Trump with bug. Isn't that the same as the right, saying that there's going to be a bloodbath and Mark Robinson, who somehow is still running for governor, saying that some people ought to be killed. Yeah, I love it. I was going to say, what about the flies?
Starting point is 00:05:37 Like, what about bugs? Like, I feel like it's unfair to them. But I guess Emily just, you know, she only reserves those analogies when it comes to Palestinians. That's tight. Yeah, obviously, this was going to be a softball interview. It was a softball interview. And people have to pretend and rewrite history.
Starting point is 00:05:51 I mean, the thing about Biden, and this is really sad, is he was like, the polls were showing I was pretty good. No, they weren't. They literally weren't. And he sounded so Trumpy and when he was like, well, the polls I've seen show me ahead. They weren't showing him ahead. And that's why, yes, Nancy Pelosi super agree with Kat, right?
Starting point is 00:06:09 Like, don't agree with Nancy on a lot of things, but she is a tough C&X Tuesday. And when she wants something done, she gets it done. It's either the easy way or I don't even want to know what the hard way was. I feel like it involves herminolo Blonix and a tray of baked Zidi. Whatever it is, it's scary.
Starting point is 00:06:25 So yeah. And the thing about Pelosi is this. She wants to win. And that's the thing about, like, a good politician. They do the thing that helps them win. Unless, obviously, your J.D. Vance or Donald Trump. But, like, other than that, if you're smart, you try to make the moves to get you to win, getting Biden to step down was a move to get Democrats to win.
Starting point is 00:06:41 All right, Louise, let's play another clip. This is where he talks about being at peace with his decision, which actually he didn't take. But let's watch it. It was only two months ago that you decided to step aside from seeking re-election, putting your country first above any personal ambition. And passing first to the vice. I am at peace of my decision. Look, when I ran for the first of this last term,
Starting point is 00:07:15 I saw myself as a transition president. Transitioning to a new generation of leadership. Now, I know I only look 40, but I'm 180 years old. You know, Louise, on one level, it's all quite nice and focusing. fun and he goes on a very liberal skewed show and they all cheer him and create him like a hero. On the other, it reminded me that he is actually still President of United States. He's still the guy with his fingers on a nuclear trigger. He's still the most powerful guy in America, if not the entire world.
Starting point is 00:07:49 And yet, everyone assumes Kamala Harris is now running the show for the Democrats, not him. It's such a bizarre situation, isn't it? And it brings me to what I suspect might be not massively. far-fetched, which is this growing theory that the big October surprise may be that he stands aside in October and allows Kamala Harris to assume the presidency to get her over the line. It's possible. I would be very surprised if he did that. He clearly didn't think that he should have been forced out of the race. I don't think he was dodging the question. I think he was admitting it that Pelosi pushed him out of the race. That's what he was saying. I didn't buy what she was
Starting point is 00:08:32 selling me that I couldn't win. So I don't think he's going to give up the last few months of power. And if he does, I don't think it will have an effect on the race at all. Carmel Harris has got an unusual advantage here. She's got half of an incumbency advantage and she doesn't have to go and be vice president. You know, Joe Biden's in the White House. He's taking care of business. He wore a Ukrainian and American flag on his lapel today. And indeed, this afternoon, he's going to announce a huge package of Reconcelling. aid for Ukraine at the United Nations, I think, and that's why he had that on. He's still president. He's still in charge of the country. And I think what we saw today was a guy
Starting point is 00:09:12 that's relaxed and actually enjoying himself, even if he was annoyed at being pushed out. Now the pressure's off. He can crack all these jokes. He seems to be having a good time, what we would call in Britain demob happy. And I think he deserves it. I hope he does enjoy these last few months in power. I would be really shocked if he walked away from that voluntary. Or even involuntarily. The thing is, Kat, it's not like, you know, this is running America, it's not supposed to be a tea party where you spend your weekends on the beach and, you know, you pop into the view and have a bit of a laugh.
Starting point is 00:09:45 It's supposed to be an incredibly demanding, relentless job requiring extraordinarily feats of endurance and mental agility, isn't it? To be fair, peers, sorry, before Kat Johnson, Congress is taking a two-month break this week. So say what you will about American politicians. Honestly, sometimes it'll leave you high and drive. But go ahead. All right, but the American president doesn't take a break.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Kat. Yeah, every time I still, I mean, I think we've been conditioned kind of for a while. I mean, I feel like Joe Biden for a while. We didn't see a lot of him, even when we were being told that he was also going to be able to continue to be the president for another four years. I was among people who thought years ago that was unclear because years ago or clear that he wouldn't rather. because years ago he was looking for dead people in a crowd, right? To me, I look at that, I say, eh, that's concerning. At this point, though, whenever I hear his name, as awful as it is, in my head, the first thing that I think of is, oh, yeah, that guy.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Even though he is presumably the acting president, I don't think anyone thinks he's actually making any decisions right now. I think people were impressed. Oh, on the view, great. He's still around. I think the bar has been set so low. I think we've become used to things that we would have not thought in the past we ever would have gotten used to. But yeah, I mean, I agree with you. There should be a president running the country. But I just, at this point, there's clearly been a team of people who have been taking care of this, whatever this is, for quite some time now. You know, we were talking about Nancy Pelosi.
Starting point is 00:11:20 I did enjoy her going on CNN with Jake Tapper. I've got a lot of time with Jake. I think he's great of what he does. But she even gave him the old death treatment. Look at this. They laugh at us all over the world. They're laughing at us. And you know what they're really laughing at?
Starting point is 00:11:36 Kamala, because they can't believe that she's going to be president. They can't believe. You talk about cognitive problems? She's got bigger cognitive problems than he has, in my opinion. Donald Trump's saying that Kamala Harris has bigger cognitive problems than Joe Biden. Why would you even cover that? This is a person who's not on the level. He is their nominee for president.
Starting point is 00:11:58 He is incompetent. Let's not even talk about the silliness of it all and the weirdness of it all and the assault on women that it is. We're not going to talk issues. Jane looked terrified there, Kat. Yeah, I mean, he's covering it because it's the campaign for the presidency. But again, I mean, I think that she had an opportunity where she could have slammed Trump, which she did, but to suggest that he couldn't cover it. I mean, look, that's the kind of thing that Trump says about people. It's this kind of thing that some people who really support him really like,
Starting point is 00:12:33 but that it's also the kind of thing that makes people wary to support him. I think that a lot of people in his corner probably wish he would stick to policy and stick to pointing out, hey, I'm running against not someone who's the opposition, but somebody who's in office right now. But how many years have we been doing this where we've learned that that's that advice that no matter how much people give it to him, he's probably not going to take it. Yeah, and interestingly, Carverner Harris is going to be spiking Biden's view guns tonight, when she goes on MSNBC, obviously,
Starting point is 00:13:01 which is an extremely left-wing Democrat supporting network. So a little easy home run for her. But that will take all the attention away from Biden. Francesca, I want to play you a clip of Donald Trump talking about how you protect women was a rally in Pennsylvania on Monday. You will be protected and I will be your protector. Women will be happy, healthy,
Starting point is 00:13:34 confident and free. longer be thinking about abortion. It's all they talk about abortion because we've done something that nobody else could have done. It is now where it always had to be with the states and they vote of the people. Jessica, do you feel that Donald is your big protector?
Starting point is 00:14:05 You're looking forward to being protected by him? How much time do you have? Yeah, I like how this is just an ad for like Stepford Wives, 2025, you won't be thinking about abortion because we'll do mass lobotomies. Like, no, thank you. Why is this sound like less of a promise and more of a threat, right? Like, and yeah, he's right. He did something no other politician could do. He's increased maternal mortality rate by exorbitant rates. Over in Texas, 56% of pregnant women have been facing mortality rates because the hospitals do not want to treat.
Starting point is 00:14:40 They're very, very treatable conditions. Again, these are people who want to be parents. These are not people who are seeking abortion. But then we talk about those women, let's say in Georgia, who have died because hospital workers, because of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, are too afraid to perform necessary life-saving procedures on women.
Starting point is 00:15:00 So yeah, I love this, like, weird promise. You're not going to be thinking about it anymore. Like for all this, like, you know, anti-Hasian rhetoric, He's sure doing weird voodoo mind tricks on all of us. Like, I don't want to protect her. Thank you. Least of all you, man who hung out with Jeffrey Epstein and P. Diddy? Uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:15:21 No, thanks. Pass. Hard pass. Emily, what do you feel about Donald the Protector for all women? I think, excuse me, I forgot her name. She's just a clear face of what Tina Trump Duranjewat. Trump derangement syndrome is.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Because, excuse me, can you hear me? She's a clearer portrait of what TDS is because you have Donald Trump, who everyone claims, wants to get rid of abortion, who wants to violate women's reproductive rights, go out there and reassure everyone. Like he said numerous times, I do not plan on taking this right away from you. I will protect you. Women do feel unsafe today. The whole country is in a state of lawlessness.
Starting point is 00:16:00 So here he is reassuring you that everything's going to be okay, but somehow you'll manage to spin that into something negative and make a comedic skit out of it when this is exactly what the people need to be hearing. But then again, you have TDS, so I understand. Louise, what do you feel about Trump? I mean, look, there's no doubt that for every woman that doesn't like Trump in America, there's pretty much a woman who loves him. That's what all the polling says. I mean, that's so unscientific, Pierce, Pierce, that's not what the polling says. If I could just, that is not what it says. There is a huge lead for Carmel Harris among the women. Right. There is a huge lead for Carmel Harris among women. Absolutely huge.
Starting point is 00:16:40 In fact, that's what Trump opened with. I gather that some women don't like me. I don't know why. I think I'm great. Well, thanks, Captain Bonesburs. But I don't need you. The real Trump derangement syndrome is thinking that Trump could protect anybody. And if you want to talk about seeing dead people the way that Kat did the other day, Trump literally said bring back Johnny Carson to the Tonight Show.
Starting point is 00:17:01 The man's been dead for years. Can you imagine if it was Joe Biden who did that? Hang on. That's a classic example of where the Trump loathes. get so deranged, they deliberately misrepresent what actually got said and what happened. I watched that clip in its entirety, and he knows Johnny Carson's dead. He was making the point,
Starting point is 00:17:22 I wish we had Johnny Carson to bring back. He never said he thinks he's... He never said he thinks he's still alive. Nobody watching it. Nobody watching it thinks Trump thinks he's still alive. But it's a bit like the... He's a bit like the bloodbath thing, right? He's a little.
Starting point is 00:17:38 It's a bit like the bloodbath thing, where we're all led to believe by Kamala Harris in that debate that Trump warned if he doesn't win there'll be a bloodbath and we all have this imagery of wow everyone's going to be dying and then you remember hang on, hang on, calm down lefties
Starting point is 00:17:54 do you remember what happened? And then you remember that actually he was talking about a blood bath in the automobile industry. Very different. Kat, let me ask you this. You've written this brilliant book. Everything I could read,
Starting point is 00:18:07 I could read your stuff for the next. 20 calendar years on repeat because you are such a refreshing different voice out there. And you've written the perfectly timed book. I used to like you in Till how binary thinking devises. And we're seeing a bit of that in this debate today. For those you haven't read the book, and if they haven't, they should go and buy it. In fact, you end at the end of this book, you'll be reminded of this reality
Starting point is 00:18:33 and also see how the more divided and tribal and polarised we become, the more will lose. missed out on opportunities to connect or even collaborate, all while people in power over us, turn us against each other for their own game, which is so true. But we've got to a place, driven and fueled by social media, I believe, where tribalism is so intense that even when people are presented with clear factual evidence of what they're saying is wrong, they're not going to deviate. They don't care about facts. And as a result, the hostility between people over stuff in the news,
Starting point is 00:19:07 whether it's Trump or Ukraine or Israel, whatever it is, it's so intensely aggressive and unpleasant. We see families breaking up over this stuff. You know, friends and families being split in two. How have we got here and what's the solution? Yeah, I'm glad I wrote this book at this time, even though it is a risky book to come out with during this time when everybody just wants to hear about how bad and evil the other side is,
Starting point is 00:19:32 therefore making them automatically good just because they're not on that side. this book is really a guide for how to talk to people who might have written you off. I talk a lot about my own personal experiences. I get really vulnerable about things in this book that I've never talked about before. So I do think vulnerability is going to be a key way out of this. I think we need to be able to see each other as human again. We've got to be willing to show that we are human.
Starting point is 00:19:54 But at this point, it's just one single viewpoint or association. People say, oh, I see that. That tells me everything I need to know about you. And that's just simply not the case. I'm somebody who I get yelled at by both sides all the time because I'm not on either side. I think that there definitely is Trump derangement syndrome, but then there's also Trump derangement syndrome, derangement syndrome, where any criticism of Trump automatically means you have Trump derangement syndrome. And I have very strong views about specific policies.
Starting point is 00:20:25 And my policy views and my views sometimes put me at odds with Republicans. Sometimes they put me at odds with Democrats or Republican politicians or Democratic politicians. And if people hear me say one thing about a specific politician, they're like, oh, well, then you're with that side. And we are losing so much in our relationships with each other, but also our freedoms, because the more divided we are, the easier we are to control. You know, I completely agree. I'm a bit like that. I don't park myself into either the right or left camp. I like to take everybody on, challenge their opinions, have good debates. Have debates like today. We get people with very different views come on and talk to each other. And I would like to think at the end of it. But, you're being so, you're so dishonest, dude.
Starting point is 00:21:04 You're so dishonest though, because all you do on this show is play off social media algorithms to get people to fight. You lead with it in the cold open and you get the click, click clicks. And if you don't hit a mill, you never ask that person back. You literally play the game that Kat is decrying. And I think I love the idea, especially I love Kat's book and the way it targets women because specifically women are the ones who it's like, if we say one thing that you don't like, ah, I hated you from the beginning, right?
Starting point is 00:21:31 are extra vulnerable to this, especially online. But, Pierre, stop pretending like you think there's something wrong and we can't, why can we reach across the aisle and whole hands? Because your whole algorithm is based on it. Your whole model is based on it. Francesca, it's a lovely statement that will get you lots of clicks from your followers, and that's why you've just delivered your little monologue. However, it's based on a, wait a minute, you've had your saying,
Starting point is 00:21:54 it's based on a false premise. I do not have nearly the following that you do. I'm just trying to point out your own hypocrisy. You don't normally get a million views for me, but I still invite you back. So that can't be true. I do it as an act of charity, because I like you. I check the sets. You know I crush.
Starting point is 00:22:11 You know I crush, Pierce. I like having you on because you're so annoying. Same. Pierce, can I add something? Yes. I wanted to respond to Luis. And Luis, you know I adore you. I just really happen to think it's a little pathetic that a lot of the left will use complete
Starting point is 00:22:30 fabrications about Trump to support their narrative, to support their policies, to support Kamala Harris. Rather than using her strengths, you know, if you feel like she has any, please go ahead and amplify them. They would, I, okay, I'll give you a clear one example. The view, the views sent, I'll back it up with facts. I'll back it up with fact. No, they both do. I'm pointing on a specific example from the view today. So they spent an entire segment talking about the filibuster that is going to be debated between the six of them, whether it should be removed or not to protect women's reproductive rights. They wasted an entire segment talking about something that Trump already said he wouldn't do.
Starting point is 00:23:12 So, and if you think that helps Kamala Harris, it does, but you're lying about something that Donald Trump had said and done. And my point is that, how come you need to resort to lies instead of things that Kamala has a strengths? They're saying they're going to get rid of the filibuster because, Kamala says it's not what Trump's going to do. Kamala says that she will bring in a national abortion measure, permitting abortion, just like Roe before Roe was overturned.
Starting point is 00:23:37 She will legislate it. It will be a law. And she is saying that we'll get rid of the filibuster on the positive side so that you can't stop me from making abortion a national right. And I can tell you as a Harris supporter. All I want, all day long is for Donald Trump to talk about abortion. Please, keep talking about it. Please. It's a winning issue for us.
Starting point is 00:23:56 But Louise, Louise. Hang on, when people talk about Trump and abortion, I constantly hear from Kamala Harris and everyone on the left and the Democrats that Trump wants a national abortion ban. He has never said that. She tweets it almost every single day. He's repeatedly denied that. He has no desire to do that.
Starting point is 00:24:17 In fact, whenever he's mused about what he thinks, any kind of federal, obviously he's proud he's returned to the state. It's fine. That may or may not be the right call. That's down to Americans. But he has said openly he thinks a 15-week term limit sounds about right. That puts him in line with most moderate European countries on abortion. He's not an abortion extremist.
Starting point is 00:24:38 To pretend he is, to pretend he is and to deliberately misuse anything he said about this issue, is just very disingenuous. I think so. Two things. And I say that somebody, by the way, who supports a woman's right to choose what she wants to do with her. her body and we mentioned stick out of it. That is my personal position. But I don't like to see Trump regularly deliberately misquoted about this when there's evidence to the contrary. Piers, can I just say something? He picked J.D. Vance to be his vice president. He is an elderly
Starting point is 00:25:11 man. Any way you cut it. If he dies in office, just of natural causes or whatever, J.D. Vance becomes the president. And J.D. Vance has said on the record many times that he, Vance, supports a national abortion plan. Now, it doesn't matter when Trump is. Fine. Then say it about J.D. Vance. They're fine. And quote J.D. Vans. Don't pretend it's Trump's. Don't pretend his Trump's position.
Starting point is 00:25:32 But he's never committed to veto it. Do you know what the same? He's never said it back to the States. And the other thing, by the way, the other thing, Francesca. Hang on, the other thing Francesca likes to. The other thing Francesca loves to. Hang on.
Starting point is 00:25:47 The other thing Francesca likes to bang on about is the way Trump has personally packed the Supreme Court with conservative judges. And you know what I think? think, why didn't the Democrats get their act in order and persuade their judges on that court to step aside when they could have replaced them with younger people? The truth is, you allowed yourselves as a party to be lassued by people who went on way too long, and that created an opportunity for Trump to pat the call, as the Democrats would do if they got the chance every single time.
Starting point is 00:26:18 That's right. Don't lose. Don't lose elections. Mitch McConnell prevented Obama from confirming Mayor Garland. I think what Louise is saying is, look, you can imagine, okay, a second Trump administration, what would it be like, what would be like for women? We don't have to because it's happening right now where people are bleeding out in their cars from having miscarriages that should be treated and attended to.
Starting point is 00:26:41 They're losing their ability to ever have children again, right, because hospital workers are more concerned with bureaucracy than people's lives. So, Pierre, don't interrupt me as you're talking about abortion rights and you say you support a woman's right to choose, shut up and listen. as someone who's a mom, as someone who could have died herself, okay? It's time for you to shut up and listen to the women who are telling you loud and clear. We are dying out here. You're putting our lives on the line out here.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Women in red states, women in blue states, women all over. It doesn't matter whether we love Trump or we hate Trump. The effect of overturning Roe v. Wade is the same. Our lives are on the line, okay? And we don't need to imagine the future. It is here right now. You've made your point. You've made your point very falsely. Change topics.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Kat, the RFK-Olivia Nuzzi scandal. So, for people who don't know, she's a top New York magazine journalist. I've admired her work for a long time. She's brilliant. The profile she does. Did a profile on RFK Jr. He's been on a show many times. And it turns out they had a non-physical virtual digital affair, very much an affair of our times, I guess.
Starting point is 00:27:50 And as a result, she's been suspended. A lot of female journalists, Kat, have got quite exercised about this, saying that this plays right to the kind of trope about women journalists. This is how they get their stories and so on. What do you think of it? Yeah, it's sad, especially because she herself, people have dredged up an old column. She wrote saying, why do people act like female journalists always sleep with their sources? So not a good look for her. The whole thing is really embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Obviously, you're not supposed to have a sexual relationship with somebody you're covering. But I've also found the media to be focusing almost entirely on her and how she was so wrong and so bad for doing this and quoting anonymous sources, which I wonder who they could be, saying that she was basically assaulting him with the nudes while he was powerless against the nudes she was assaulting him with. To me, I mean, it's not news to any woman who wakes up every day in this world that if there's anything sexual going on, it's always your fault
Starting point is 00:28:49 and the man's going to have a way easier time with it than you will. But I think obviously what she did was wrong, but let's not act as if this 70-year-old, you know, accomplished man who also is married and shouldn't have been doing that. If that was my husband, it wouldn't be, oh, yeah, it was all just over the phone. He would still need to find another place to live. Well, I think that is what's happened with her fiancé, isn't it? Both can be true at once.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Emily, it seems an awful lot of mayhem for a number. non-physical affair? I will admit, I'm going to preface that I'm very, I'd say very good friends with RFK Jr. I've been on hikes with him, hence why my phone's been blowing up over this non-physical sexual affair. So I'll admit that I have a bias incident I happen to really like him.
Starting point is 00:29:42 My whole thing is it takes two to tango. And I agree that like Kat said, a lot of the media attention has been solely blaming her. He's equally to blame as much as her. I feel like, though, the reason that that's happening is because, as Kat pointed out, she wrote this article. Why does everyone think that all the journalists have to have this affair? So now you look like an idiot. Now you're a hypocrite. You were equally as engaged as he was in this non-physical affair. And obviously, I don't have to tell you guys, this was just another political plot. Like, why did this come out now? How come right now after his full force endorsement of Donald Trump,
Starting point is 00:30:19 which I do think helped him immensely, by the way, now how convenient this comes out, she's getting a lot of attention, he's not getting a lot of bad attention, I think they're both equally to blame. I think it's a little bit silly, a non-physical sexual affair. It's coming out because RFK showed the news around.
Starting point is 00:30:37 That's why it's coming out. It's not a plot against RFK. It came out because he passed around her nudes, which she ridiculously said were demure. I mean, sweetheart. If you're sending a guy nudes, it's not demure. I don't mean to be a prude, but it's not demure. That's just it. It's not.
Starting point is 00:30:52 And this is the only time I'm going to go on your show and I'm going to defend RFK Jr. Because I cannot stand the man. I think he's a Russian puppet. Actually, I love RFCA Jr. And I'm also a big fan. I love him. He doesn't have an ethical obligation not to sleep with a journalist.
Starting point is 00:31:08 She's the only person here that had an ethical obligation, professional obligation. He didn't have one. It's up to him, and it's between him and his wife. Francesca, quite frankly, and her ex-fiance. Well, okay, but Francesca, if you read, as I did, the RFK profile before and after this scandal, there's no evidence in there of any bias.
Starting point is 00:31:26 In fact, the opposite. He called it a hit job at the time. And they're now going through everything else to see if there was anything in any of her reporting throughout that period, which could be construed as some kind of conflict. If there isn't, are we all being too censorious here? I mean, she's a brilliant writer.
Starting point is 00:31:43 When I was running a newspaper, I found the most talented journalists I had all had pretty lively private lives. The two things were like they were correlated. Yeah, but, Pears, if you were her boss, I think she's got to go. And it's crazy because we're at a time in journalism when there are very few jobs. I know so many young journalists who are struggling and that we know the industry is dying. It's been dying every which way from Wednesday. And yet you have this and she's on leave? She's not fired immediately?
Starting point is 00:32:11 Come on, she'll be fine, she'll start a subsack, it'll be chill. I don't think it's a great look for her, considering we know how much love he has for, like, dead animal carcasses to be like, he also liked my nudes. You know, like, a little bit too much, like, you know, dead whale on a beach. You know, like, that's the vibe. I just can't imagine wanting to, like, spit game to this, like, 70-year-old, like, serial philanderer whose second wife killed herself
Starting point is 00:32:37 because he found a journal of all the women he had slept with. Like, this guy is scum. I mean, I don't know. You might like some of his political positions, but interpersonally, yikes. Let's end with Ellen, because Ellen is back with her Netflix stand-up special. The reviews have been slating it as an exercise in self-indulgent apologics from a superstar who still doesn't get it. And there is one of many funny clips in there, not for the reasons she thinks.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Let's take a look. And I'm impatient and I'm demanding, I'm direct. I'm a strong woman. I mean, that standing ovation cat goes on for about 25 minutes from memory. But what was amusing to me is that Ellen was driven out of her job because she came over as a very unpleasant piece of work to work for. And a lot of people started responding to an online site, which was recording all the horror stories of working with Ellen.
Starting point is 00:33:38 And yet she's twisted. A, she's diluted what they were saying about it. But she's twisted it as if somehow all of it was only because she was a strong, woman. I'm not a woman, but if I was, I'd feel pretty offended by that. Well, I certainly know what it's like, as all women do, to have to constantly tow that line between, okay, I want to be taken seriously, but then also, you know, people get mad at you if you don't smile, and it is a really, really difficult position. Basically, if you're a woman, you can't do anything right. But I don't think that's the same as the environment that reportedly
Starting point is 00:34:15 she was providing for her staff. Again, I don't know her personally, but yeah, to equate the two things, it's not, I have, definitely, all women know what it's like to try to toe that line and how you feel like you can never do anything, right? No matter what you say or do, people are going to be mad and mad at you for things
Starting point is 00:34:32 they never get mad at men for. But I don't know that that's the same as being an abusive boss. Emily, is she just... Allegedly. Is she trying to rewrite history here and just paint herself as a much misunderstood, strong woman who should be admired,
Starting point is 00:34:45 not reviled? She doesn't really have another choice. I mean, if you're treating your employees like crap and you're being a very dislikable woman, but she's very famous, everybody knows who Ellen is, then what are you going to do? Hey, everyone, I, you know, I'm just going to sit down and take the backseat for the rest of my life. No, she needs to make a career for herself. So of course, she will rewrite the history. She's going to pretend everyone else was wrong. And I think it's actually very hurtful to women that she's using the excuse of I'm a strong woman. and all of these allegations were false because of that because it actually hurts the real kind, strong, empowering women
Starting point is 00:35:24 that are battling what Kat just said, that fine line between, you know, I actually am doing things the right way and everyone's still scrutinizing me, and I am a strong woman and everyone, you know, you can never do right by everyone. And she's ruining it for everyone who's doing their part as strong, empowering woman. And I just think, I don't like her.
Starting point is 00:35:43 I think she's a disgusting person. I mean, I only know a little bit about her, which is when she was on a lot. American Idol for a season. I was told by people who worked on the show, she was utterly unbearable. Louise, should we allow? Sounds like Megan Markle. Sounds like Megan Markle peers, doesn't it? Oh, I'm strong. I don't have to coddle anybody. Yes. You know, me being, as I believe both of these women are, me being a bully to little people and having huge high staff turnover somehow makes me great, strong, proud, you know, uh, uh, uh, no, it doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't to Ellen.
Starting point is 00:36:14 it doesn't to Megan. You're not doing anybody any favors, and you can big yourself up as much as you like, but I think the general public sees the truth, and it's not very pretty. Okay, well, we have a little drum roll. I agree with all of you. Vacheska, hang on. There's a little drum roll because we are on the verge of potentially a moment in history where the entire panel reaches a moment of agreement, and it's all down to you. Yes, this is why I wanted to say, I actually do agree with you, but I want to stick up for Ellen. No, no, wait, let's stick up for Ellen. No, let's not stick up for Ellen. All the time. Men get to do whatever they want. They get to be awful bosses.
Starting point is 00:36:53 They get to be completely, you know, disgusting. They get to leer. No, they don't. Oh, my God, how many? Why do you ask the Me Too movement? The Me Too movement missed all the low-level creeps. Like, what about the dude at Walmart who's just like leering after his stock workers? Like, what about that guy?
Starting point is 00:37:09 Let's take that guy down. Does it ever cross your mind that some women might, also be awful. Present company accepted. Yes, peers. Oh, yes. Occasionally. There's a Margaret Thatcher. Some women are awful. Some blokes are awful. You gave us her, by the way. Some guys are great. You're looking at one. Some blokes are awful. Some women are great. You guys are great.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Some women are dreadful. That's it. That's life. Panel, we reached agreement. I'm so happy. I brought you all together. Cat, I'm going to mention your book again because it's brilliant. It's called I used to like you until how, until, until, dot, dot, how binary thinking devises. book, perfectly timed, love having you on our sense. Please, all of you come back soon, even you, Francesca, who spent half of your time destroying the host as you best possibly could.
Starting point is 00:37:54 I'll take it as a compliment. Very fine line between love and hate. Thank you all very much. Thank you. Thank you.
