Podcast: The Ride - Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets*

Episode Date: June 12, 2026

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, the stars of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster have been replaced. Aerosmith is out. The Muppets are in. To one of our hosts, this was a catastrophic mistake. To the othe...r hosts—and maybe the public at large—it was mostly a good idea.Who's right? We'll definitively answer that question by the end of this podcast!*We have not actually ridden the ride. However, thanks to our finely tuned theme park assessment skills, we're confident we can determine its quality from a copious amount of opening-day footage."Electric Mice Orchestra" episode is up at: Patreon.com/PodcastTheRideFOLLOW PODCAST: THE RIDE:https://twitter.com/PodcastTheRidehttps://www.instagram.com/podcasttherideBUY PODCAST: THE RIDE MERCH:https://www.teepublic.com/stores/podcast-the-ridePODCAST THE RIDE IS A FOREVER DOG PODCASThttps://foreverdogpodcasts.com/podcasts/podcast-the-ride See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Starting point is 00:00:00 Forever. Warning. If the following podcast has poor audio, blame the penguin engineers. Today, we discuss a ride supposedly about rock and roll. But how rock can it be when the puppet's hands aren't even posed like a sex act? Yes, Tom Hamilton is out. Floyd Pepper is in.
Starting point is 00:00:24 And Mike Carlson is in for a lot of soul searching. It's rock and roller coaster starring The Muppets on podcast The Ride. I don't know if you have a way to start, but I've prepared a song. Would that be an acceptable way to begin this episode? No. But I had a bad joke I wanted to say. Well, we can do both. No, I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 00:01:03 I didn't have it. Oh, okay. Well, all right, then I will proceed. But just before I do the song, you should know that the song comes from the character of you, Mike. This is me writing in the songwriting voice of Mike. So here we go. I don't want ping pong ball eyes. I don't want no doctor.
Starting point is 00:01:22 teeth because I miss Joe Perry and the Muppets can suck a dick. Does that feel Jason Sheridan enjoyed it? What I just, me, Scott Garner just saying, but does that reflect, do you feel like what you Mike Carlson believe? Yes, I feel seen, I feel heard. Perfect. All right, I'm glad I didn't mischaracterize it. In that case, would you mind if I go one further and do one more song that I have prepared
Starting point is 00:01:48 and see this one also, maybe you could see if I'm getting into the groove of writing in your character. It's time for shitty music. No awesome scarves in sight. It's time to beat the Muppets for the way they treated Mike. All right, that's good. Yeah, I like that. I mean, the music part of it I didn't like as much.
Starting point is 00:02:09 The music part was okay. Whatever you were parroting, that didn't really vibe with me. Oh, okay. Your criticism is with the melody, less than the lyrics. The choice of what you were parroting music-wise. Well, you might not realize that I did not write. that melody myself. That's actually, that's actually from the world of the Muppets who
Starting point is 00:02:26 took over the roller, yes. Perhaps it's something that you're just not vibing with in general, which may factor into our opinions. The first one, I really liked the music. That was neat, I thought. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was familiar, but I really like that. I think if you search your heart, you'll realize
Starting point is 00:02:42 you heard that somewhere before. Maybe sung a little better and sung a little sexier. Mike has some notes on the 50-year-old Muppets theme song. It's just okay, you know, it just feels a lot dated, whatever that, yeah. If that's what it was, if that's what Muppets game song was.
Starting point is 00:03:00 There's been a brief revival. There might be a bigger revival, and your note might be to, I don't know, give it a little bit of infusion of rock and roll circa 1996. Yeah, if it rocked a little harder, either from that year or from 1997, whenever the pinnacle, the second pinnacle of the band was. But I feel like, oh, there was only one pinnacle in your eyes. that, you know, it seems like when you found the bad boys of Boston is whatever hits they had before, you like and you respect.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Sure, but the 90s, the just push play. You're just push play, your nine lives. Yeah, nine lives just push play. You're honking on Bobo. It's so hard on the knees. Now, see, I'm not sure if we've mentioned that one. I do kind of like that one. I do too.
Starting point is 00:03:46 I recall from the Mike Myers-Arosmith Blockbuster, in 1997 episode of Saturday Night Live. That was what they performed. And I thought it worked. And then, yeah, we've talked about, what, Summer Girl, Girls of Summer, whatever the hell. That's a pretty good song, too.
Starting point is 00:04:03 I mean, yeah, you got me here. You got me. And you know what? I'm glad that we are airing some of this out. Because, unless super jammed in there, this could be your last viable excuse to talk about Erosmith at length, even though people have perhaps
Starting point is 00:04:20 downloaded this clicked on it, thinking, oh, they're going to talk about the Muppets. Well, not if I can help. You're going to push that back as far as you can. This is really, it really should be good, but the episode should be called Goodbye
Starting point is 00:04:35 Rock and Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith instead of, so that you don't think that it is a hello to Rock and Roller Coaster starring the Muppets, which is new at Disney World as of the last few weeks. Right, yes. This is a, this is a wake. As far as I'm concerned, this is sort of a celebration of life for the aerosmith version of this ride.
Starting point is 00:04:57 I think that's a great idea for a title because it helps me because I didn't really know what the thesis of this episode was. Oh, really? I'm sorry you were confused. You should have put your hand up sooner. I mean, you know, I think whatever we end up calling it and we might not want to super complicate the naming mechanism. But my thought was, look, this Muppets roller coaster is new. Spoiler, we have not gone down and done it. We have not been to Florida in person. And yet it felt like emotions are running so high.
Starting point is 00:05:34 And it is certainly dominating our little bubble of theme park media to where we should at least address it. So this will be, you know, it's kind of an asterisk. Yes, it's the episode about the rock and roller coaster starting the Muppets. But, you know, it's purely speculative because none of us have done it in person. We are going off of videos. We're going off of rumors. Right. We asked chat GPT how it is. And it's mainly that we're mainly going.
Starting point is 00:06:00 It's 80% what AI told us about it. Right. And like, look, we've obviously walked the halls. We've been on the coaster because, like, we know what this basically is is they've just, like, rip the skin off of an existing character being entity and just put some new skin on. top of the skeleton. Yeah. We know that.
Starting point is 00:06:20 And I don't know. And why did it need new skin? The skin of every person on camera in that attraction is perfect skin. It's skin that any of us would be lucky to have. Right. Not, it not, and that word skeleton, also beautiful skin. In no way does any member of Aerosmith resemble a skeleton with a odd semi-translucent skin stretched over it willy-nilly.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Like a scene from the movie. Brazil. That's not what you're saying. No, it's not Brazil-esque at all. Five beautiful men. This got the skin suits quick. When you're dealing with the people we're dealing with. Jason's the like deleting notes he
Starting point is 00:07:04 had because he had a wholly different thesis, I think for this episode. Did not know what we were. And of course, I knew exactly what we were going to be talking about on this episode. Of course. I came in with a very, very specific idea of what we were doing today. Yes, yeah. Well, and I I think, you know, I think we will talk about the new things that have happened, but I think mainly, look, let me be more honest with you, Jason. I viewed this as kind of a therapy session for our friend Mike here, because I know that in, as I said, it is dominating theme park media.
Starting point is 00:07:34 There have been various reactions to this Muppet overlay, various, I'm sorry to say, positive reactions. And I don't know, I've just been wondering, it seems like getting a microphone on you to Vindexam. some thoughts might be a good thing to do with this. And I, I'm sorry, Mike, I have to say, from footage I've seen, I'm like, some of this stuff in this new ride looks pretty good. Well, sure, they can put lipstick on a pig. You know, they can put a hat on a pig. They can dress the pig up in a different outfit.
Starting point is 00:08:07 But ultimately, that's appropriate that you said pig, because there's a muppet, you know what, there's not enough time. Go ahead. It's going to say, yeah, it is a, like, I hear what you're saying, but I think that the base of the franchise is putting lipstick and different outfits on pigs, which they have done in this, and I think people are responding well.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Let me just state for the listener who perhaps hasn't followed some of this on the podcast. Yes. You know, our first covering of the Rock and Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith was years ago. So I think you're right that a last time on might be a smart thing to do. Sure. You know, many years ago we covered this. And I, I, maybe even through that episode of Podcast the Right, sometimes you discover things about yourself while you're podcasting.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Sure. And I think even maybe while we were doing that, I realized how much affection I had for rock and roller coaster starring Aerosmith. Personally, it was like the first real roller coaster I ever, I guess you consider Space Mountain a real roller coaster. But that launch felt like I was finally an adult. I was finally, I was ready to rock and I was ready to do a launch. I was ready to go 60 miles per hour and look at Stephen Tyler's hat. I was ready to do all of that. And it made me feel like a grownup.
Starting point is 00:09:20 So I think there's some feeling there of like, oh, wow, that was number. That was the first time I ever did this. This place is where you became a man. That's exactly correct. And then I think when we were at Disney World, maybe after that, I had a choice late at Hollywood Studios one night. Do I want to go on the Tower of Terror one more time? Or do I want to go on rock and roller coaster? And I didn't even, again, it wasn't even a fully conscious thought up until that point when I said,
Starting point is 00:09:46 oh, I need to go on rock and roller coaster over Tower of Terror. I intellectually understand that Tower of Terror is better themed. It's a classier ride. It's cool. It's a very, very unique of course. It's more classic Disney. Classic Disney. Like immersive and Haim and era cobwebs that have aged it and a story.
Starting point is 00:10:06 But all of those things are inherent in the Arrow Smith coaster as well. It is that you're taken to an era in 1999. Very specific years. It's very fully fleshed out by the clothing that everyone is wearing and their hairstyles and their scarves. Yes. And there is a story. They're late for a concert and so are we and they need to, how are we going to get there? Well, how about a limo?
Starting point is 00:10:36 Make it a stretch. No, make it a super stretch. Right. There's iconic lines, iconic pre-show moments. And then the ride itself very fun, really, really fun. very still pleasurable to this day. It's not rough like Hulk where I feel like my head is going to pop off
Starting point is 00:10:51 when I go on the Hulk. This is still an old coaster that works. Yeah. And I'm with you, by the way, because I, this was what, in my more Scarity Cat era, I was not going on this. This was something that I wanted to conquer
Starting point is 00:11:03 when we started going to Disney World together. I've ended up doing it, you know, every time I've gone in the last couple years and a lot of fun. It's so formed. Nerve, big time nerves, just getting into that kind of alley. room where you load and then like there is no launch where I'm seated where I am more
Starting point is 00:11:20 freaked out that has never gone away but my fondness for as you know I didn't book you became a man earlier than I did sure I'm a late bloomer we all go we all become men at different times we do it at our own we do it at our own base just the one commonality is Stephen Tyler is there watching yeah that's always comfortable is a welcome presence right so you know I realized in the last so many years that man like I really love this ride this ride is fun and and cool I would even say even though it's outdated I would say it's like kind of a cool it made me feel like oh this is like this is like for like a hip people ride you know it's not like stuffy old disney well in 1999 yes and when you were 15 years old yes yeah I would maybe recalibrate the use of that word as time goes
Starting point is 00:12:09 on yeah fair enough Muppet vision 3D announced going away right people upset, understandably. Last work of Jim Henson. And it felt like maybe Disney didn't realize people might be so cranky about this. Yeah. It felt like they were like, oh, I would say just go on Google and search Muppet and then add the phrase comment section and just see what you find generally. Like they could have discovered a clue quickly. It feels like somebody should have been like, they're going to be kind of mad about this.
Starting point is 00:12:37 So. Yeah. As the kind of anger that you will encounter via your opinions expressed in this episode. We all, yes, we all have things. Yes, am I more upset about this going away, the Muppet Vision? I don't want to say definitively. You know, that's like pleading the fifth. That's a cheat.
Starting point is 00:12:55 We'll see. Maybe I'll just discover what my opinion is by the end of the episode. But it felt, and look, they've floated the idea of a doctor teeth, electric mayhem, rock and roller coaster before. This has been sort of out there. There's been a few different ideas over the years. What have been that, I know that there was a rumor and who knows how far long that was of that it's going to show up in California Adventure.
Starting point is 00:13:15 It'll be a ride to save California adventure. No doubt. With the music of no doubt, with local heroes, no doubt. Interesting idea. I think that could have been kind of right on the money in 2003. In what's the in Rock Steady era. Hella, good.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I think that would have been really cool in 2002. And then maybe not so much soon after. But it would have been, it would have met the moment, is what it would have done. I would have just hoped that during the Lenton. season. They would have blessed up, you know, that we would have gotten, we've gotten Gwen Stefani with the ashes, like in the commercials for Mark Wahlberg's Prayer Act.
Starting point is 00:13:54 That is a neat. And, yeah, well, they could have incorporated that as time went on. Like, after her religious turn, I mean, theme parks do face painting. They maybe even do henna tattoos. Very rarely does a theme park give you an ash cross. We would hopefully get a henna tattoo, period, as well, before you. she blast up. Sure.
Starting point is 00:14:15 You know? Yeah. I mean, it is possible that in the modern era of Disney, they were there like, maybe we don't want to like build some permanent ride based on rock stars because there's always something weird going on with them. Sure. I mean, yes, this is the, this is a question is like, do you think that there was ever, do you, when did they land on Muppets, Dr. Teeth, Electric Mayhem as the solution?
Starting point is 00:14:40 Do you think that there was any band considered? Do you think they tried to ever pass the baton or was there the fear always? This is a dicey area for Disney. Well, there's all, we've all heard like the rumor. Oh, they're going to, Taylor Swift is going to be the one. It's going to be music of queen back when. Who knows if any of those were real. I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:14:59 I'm sure they've been floating different ideas for a decade plus. Yeah. There's no doubt that they've, no doubt that there's, they've been floating different ideas for this for a long time because it's certainly, I hate to admit, a little tired. I understand. Sure, sure. I like that about it, but it's...
Starting point is 00:15:15 I mean, I'm sure they consider changing it to, like, rap or country, but then they would have alienated that audience who on dating apps say they like all music except rap and country. Except rap and country. You know? So then Muppet Vision goes away, and it feels like a kind of panic decision. They were like, oh, by the way, shit. Dr. Keith is going to be on, they're going to get rid of Aerosmith.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Muppets, blah, blah, blah, blah. Don't be bad at us. Did you know, this was always the plan and now we were doing the plan? It was like Tiana in 2020. Oh, yeah, by the way, Tiana's coming. We told you that, right? Here's already.
Starting point is 00:15:56 You didn't see a concept dart or there's concept dart. Here's one piece of art. It'll be here in like five years. Don't worry about it. Don't worry. We were doing. You didn't even realize. Disney Plus show,
Starting point is 00:16:04 Dr. Teeth and Toll workaholic, not Adam Devine or other workaholic. Toll workaholic. That's all we're going on. So it felt like a consolation prize for the people who were mad about Muppet Vision going away. Sure. Yeah, and I wonder how what is the Muppet fan, the Muppet super fan rationale at this point? Does it feel like consolation prize?
Starting point is 00:16:28 It is like taking a big attraction, a big E-ticket attraction and pulling the Muppets into it. So you could view it as an upgrade. At the same time, it is more of a world of quick Muppet hits in the queue. Easter eggs. And then, you know, I mean, there's a Muppet flavor throughout, but I guess you could, you would call it a downgrade in that Muppet Vision 3D
Starting point is 00:16:53 just, you know, is one of the best manifestations of the Muppet sensibility ever, full stop, right there with the Muppet show. So, you know, you don't get lost in the world of the writing and the comedy of the Muppets. It's just kind of like a roller coaster that is tinged with this. Yes. So my, so to combine my love of the original Rock and Roller Coaster and my irritation at this like, even though maybe I think that they did a pretty good job with everything or a good job combined. And then also my feeling that the ride itself still is not the ultimate way to experience the Muppets. It's just not that's like, I know what I'm saying. That's my strongest argument for this shouldn't necessarily. have happened is like a vast roller coaster like that's the ride system that you want to go through
Starting point is 00:17:47 the world of the Muppets on that to me feels just a little bit like panic we got to do something all right cram the pre-show and everything with fun stuff and as many all the imaginers do your best all the Muppet people do your best but the ride itself is still like and just like shoot them past a couple pictures of things they recognize put some eyes on some palm trees yeah that part I will admit. I'm watching the ride through and I'm like, okay. And I didn't remember exactly what was there before, but when I did a side-by-side and like, oh,
Starting point is 00:18:19 those curvy palm trees were there and they just put eyes on them. That's a little, I don't know. And it's no not on people who put it together. Like a splatted beaker. It's throughout the ride. On a sign that existed already. That's fun. That's good.
Starting point is 00:18:34 That's fun. Sure. I'm just saying it's like, oh, oh, wow. Finally, we're getting a Muppet ride. but the ride itself is still not a Muppet ride. Let's be honest. It would, you know what, I think if you had a true Muppet courtyard over there with Muppet Vision 3D, with this, and with then a wild Muppet e-ticket.
Starting point is 00:19:00 I think then you wouldn't compare the fact that it is the Muppet ride, not counting various Sesame Street products throughout the globe, a different thing, I think you would say. But as far as Muppets proper, unless I'm forgetting something, it is the ride. I wish they just built a line and then didn't,
Starting point is 00:19:18 built a separate new building for a new line. And you just walked through the line and it was longer than the line for Rock and Roller coaster. And you got more pre-show with the Muppets because that's the good, that's the good Muppet stuff on this.
Starting point is 00:19:30 It's the pre-show and all that fun stuff. Yes, yeah. Little cameos. They did a great job of that stuff. They could have actually manifested the museum of the weird or like the Pirates Haunted Man, like walk-through
Starting point is 00:19:42 exhibit-y kind of thing that was never made. So I feel I feel like it would be giving the corporate Disney, I'm not letting them off that easy. That's what I'm saying. I'm sticking to my guns here. I'm not letting them off that easy. I also I, you know, I
Starting point is 00:19:57 believe you is the thing. I will look you in the eyes and say that I believe that you were telling the truth. I think I was wondering if we would hear a lot of bluster about things that are Like, I guess what I'm saying is I believe that what you were bothered by is the kind of like slapdash nature of it. Yeah. Not just that your beloved Aerosmith went away.
Starting point is 00:20:19 No. I do. I do sense. Okay, okay. I'm not saying it's totally, but I, but yes, there's a lot of it just like, well, you're not fooling me. You're not fooling me here. This isn't the ride for the Muppets. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:34 I'm still going to like it because it's the ride I like. And I'm sure. regardless of the, you know, a sort of lazy track list, you know, other than that. Oh, well, now it's coming,
Starting point is 00:20:44 okay, okay, this is really, I think we're at all. You know, what are these songs? I mean, one of them I,
Starting point is 00:20:49 you know, okay. But do we need, how many times do we need here born to be wild? A song I've never liked or cared about.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Oh, interesting. Interesting. Wow. I feel like you, I feel like you like basic ass rock songs. Some of them I do.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Born to be wilds never been one I liked. I don't know why. I like magic car. carpet ride by Steppenwolf. I think I prefer that. Yeah, yeah. I like Magic Carlin. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:12 I'm not mad. It's one of those. It's just it's the wallpaper. Born to be wild is if you're alive, you're hearing born to be wild out there. I'm not passionate about it. I'm not dispassionate about it. I'm with Scott on this. Yeah, I never gave much thought.
Starting point is 00:21:25 It's just it exists. Yeah, it exists. You know. Kind of the same. I mean, I like Blur. I like Blurr a lot in Damon Albert and Gorillin. So like that seems fun. They did it live.
Starting point is 00:21:37 you know, that's fun. Folks, Michael, here. And yes, I want to refresh my summer wardrobe. I can't just wear shirts that feature Garfield all summer, even though I kind of want to. Yes, that's where Quince comes in. Quince is a website that sells clothing. Nice clothing.
Starting point is 00:21:53 They focus on high-quality essentials that feel and look amazing. Breathable linen and soft, organic cotton. Well-made basics, but without the luxury markups. That sounds good to me. It should sound good to you, too. Their teas are soft and easy to wear, and their lightweight cotton sweaters are perfect for cooler summer nights. Everything at Quince has priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands. Do the math, folks.
Starting point is 00:22:17 That's good, great math. Quince goes way beyond clothing, too. Custom upholstered sofas, ceramic cookware, premium bedding. It's the kind of brand you end up recommending to everyone for everything. Look, I actually wear these clothes. I've got three of those nice t-shirts. One is white. That's more of an undershirt, but I could wear that around the house.
Starting point is 00:22:40 I got a Heather Gray. I even got a gray checkered button up that I wore to a recent audition. Now, did I get the part? No, but that's not the shirt's fault. The shirt looks nice. So, folks, if you want to be like me and who doesn't, let's go. Elevate your summer wardrobe. Starting point is 00:23:03 Now available in Canada, too. That's Q-U-I-N-C-E.com slash the ride for free shipping and 365-day returns. Quince.com slash the ride. Jane was intrigued and excited by like, oh, there's a Kelly Clarkson thing. She grew up really liking Kelly Clarkson. But here's a joke I do around the house about that, Mike. Say, oh, there's a... Can somebody do it like Fazi or something?
Starting point is 00:23:36 It seems like we got a little routine on our hands. It's an old, it's a shitty joke. But Mike, say like, oh, there's a Kelly Clarkson thing in it. There's a Kelly Clarkson thing in the ride, is what you're saying? Yeah, yeah, just say the phrase. Oh, there's a Kelly Clarkson thing in it. Kelly Clarkson, the talk show host? And how's that do around here?
Starting point is 00:23:54 Is that murder? Oh, she doesn't like it. She doesn't. She does not care for it. No, it's just a shitty old, like, You mentioned a star and you mentioned, like, their lesser movie. It's like Jim Carrey, from the number 23? Yeah, but Kelly Clarkson is a popular talk show.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Yeah, but it's not a primary thing she's known for. She was known for a sink. Well, now. You might argue it is now. Nice joke. Now when does the punchline get here? Yeah, yeah, that's right. That's correct.
Starting point is 00:24:28 I didn't say it was a good joke. Just saying like some of the move, like, Carrie movie like that's not like a widely known everybody Kelly Clarkson's a very popular talk show host yeah okay well I just I was just I just like to play Duh and you're like Kelly Clark's a talk show
Starting point is 00:24:44 why is she singing well look I mean you're fair enough every talk show host isn't a singer I like her covers that she does sometimes on the talk show that's fun weaser once so I know that just like the mop bits oh true we are so back with
Starting point is 00:25:00 weezer I just want to let you guys know Kenny beats the guy who produces geese He's producing the new Weaser album And the first two tracks, one of them leaked He's got the sound He figured out the sound And I'm so excited How do you want to let you know that?
Starting point is 00:25:13 How do you think I will feel Someone who hasn't liked a Weasers song in 20 years Oh, you love geese, you don't stop You're a goose head I'm in the flak Yeah, I don't know, we'll see We'll see you and it sounds like he's got a classic He's got a classic Weasers sound
Starting point is 00:25:29 There's not like too much stuff on Rivers vocals anymore I don't like all that. But it sounds, it's got the sound, the 90s sound I crave. So not the 90s Aerosmith sound I crave.
Starting point is 00:25:40 That's a different 90s sound I crave. And that's what Youngblood's working on. Youngblood is doing a whole other thing. From what I heard, it's not anything like. Young, well, I've said it on the show before.
Starting point is 00:25:50 I finally listened to one Youngblood song and it sounded like Hubistank to me. Yeah. Yeah. And what's fascinating. Which we went through some of this. When Hubestank came up before and you were, you're,
Starting point is 00:26:01 I told you. This is horrible. And I, well, I just played a clip, and you were arguing that it was a different kind of bad than I thought it was. That is what I were arguing about. What kind of bad it sounded was. We weren't arguing that it's bad. Yeah, that was what we can agree on. I didn't know, I didn't believe your reference was correct in its badness.
Starting point is 00:26:20 So I wanted to get my. I thought it was imagined. Dragon's bad. You were asserting that it is hubasank bad. What would you say is the reason you don't like hoopistak? Here we go. Here we go. Walk a walk
Starting point is 00:26:32 I'll tell you what Huba stank Oh The greatest trick Youngblood's biggest trick Is that he's fooled all these old guys And he's I saw it again
Starting point is 00:26:44 There's a guy who has a radio show Maybe on series called Eddie Trunk And he's kind of an older guy And he does you know Yeah Eddie Trunk From MTV Yeah With MTV 2
Starting point is 00:26:54 MTV 2 But he's got his own He's got his own little like Old Guy Rock Empire And I just saw a post for him on my Instagram, he's like, Youngblood is bringing rock and roll back. And I was like, you what? They say that every year.
Starting point is 00:27:09 They say that every year. Again, I like this young man. I hope he succeeds. I just don't understand why all these old men are like, holy shit, rock and roll is back. Well, this is, I texted you what Aaron, my wife said, which is one of my coworkers was talking about this incredible hot new artist named Youngblood. And now he's really special because he's bringing the spirit of of rock to a younger generation.
Starting point is 00:27:32 The age of this coworker, 63. But I think he's like, people, why of his 63-year-old need this so bad? He's doing some mind trick on these guys, these old guys. And I'm really, that's what at this point, the most fascinating thing about him to me, is that he seems to be fooling old men
Starting point is 00:27:51 into thinking like his sort of middling, like dark pop rock. And I use that, that sounds better actually than what it is. but he's making them think I guess because he has his shirt off and he's jacked I think everyone maybe is like attracted to him which I guess I am on some level as well
Starting point is 00:28:08 but I think that's full I think they're like getting lost in his eyes and imagining like a cooler and you're like not me though I can look right through those eyes I don't feel nothing now the bod I stop and stare let me be clear
Starting point is 00:28:20 yeah I don't want to hear the mute I just want to objectify that hot pod but like oh and anything anything you ever anything that's like you really go like that's cool rock music it couldn't be farther from it. Yeah, no
Starting point is 00:28:36 but I think it's just the weird filter that people are just clinging on they just want whatever. Aaron went on to say this is the new way to be a gold digger you don't have to marry old people just make music for them. Yeah. But there's
Starting point is 00:28:52 other, like there's bands that aren't that popular that I think are like this is a cool like straight ahead rock and roll song or whatever. there's plenty of that. But I think they don't have the like weird label money that Youngblo, he's just like wormed his way into, there's
Starting point is 00:29:07 promotional budget for Youngblood, thus we've heard of Youngblood. I guess that is what's happening. Thus all the, in all the greats, all the Chris Angels are all glominious. There's another Chris Angel post with him yesterday. I don't know. I'm interested to what they're cooking up though. Those two twisted minds?
Starting point is 00:29:26 Hmm, wow, wow, I just wait a minute. I think I just, I think I just heard. what they're cooking up in my head. Let me see, I got like a transmission from Gott. Let's hear what this is. Wow.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Oh my God. Rock is back. Rock is back. He climbed as part of the Greek theater the other night. Climbing to the stands. Chris Angel or Youngblood? Chris probably couldn't do it. Chris Angel's other collaboration right now is Alice Cooper.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Do you think Alice Cooper is jealous? Of Youngblood? Yeah. I think he's pretty secure. He's in other things. He's in the hell of. Hollywood vampires. So he has to understand.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Maybe it's given him. How many people are in the Hollywood vampires? There's no way to know. Not enough. Oh, okay. There's not enough and there's no way to know. It's like the All-Star band. People rotate in and out.
Starting point is 00:30:13 It's probably similar to that. Well, they're busy, you know. Johnny Depp's busy with, you know, red wine and Joe, I don't know what Joe Perry's. Also busy with red wine. Yeah, yeah, yes. And then Alice Cooper, well, no, he's sober, I guess, right? He's a famously sober person of.
Starting point is 00:30:29 Joe Perry, I think technically everyone in Arrow Smith is sober, technically, because that was a whole thing with them. But I don't know that that's true. I feel like Stephen Tyler's accused him of falling off the wagon. They hate each other, but it's a sad thing, you know. Jeez. Well, so then do you, does it, when the last couple times you saw this ride in this pre-show, did you feel sad that all them hanging out together didn't reflect the current state? Or did you like that it was like preserved in amber that, like, this is how it used to be. just those guys in a room with Ken Marino
Starting point is 00:31:02 hashing it out, all of them throwing in ideas except for Ken Marino, who I think was maybe paid as a sag, uh, zero, um,
Starting point is 00:31:11 non-speaking. Yeah, yeah, extra basically. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's better,
Starting point is 00:31:17 a happier time, it felt like happier times maybe for them. Yeah. Because they've been, there's a lot of, they've had a lot of problems in the last so many years. It doesn't feel, yeah,
Starting point is 00:31:25 it feels like they're not doing good. And here's, here's a question I had too, is, did they get rid of both of my a lot of my statements are going to be offensive to you
Starting point is 00:31:32 did they get rid of Aerosmith because they were feeling like it was tired or did they get rid of Aerosmith due to problematic things or does that not even rate on the problematic stuff was out there for decades
Starting point is 00:31:46 like every rock okay almost every rock star they have an autobiography or a biography and there's just 10 cancelable things and almost every one of them and there's just so many of them that people just kind of throw their hands up in the air.
Starting point is 00:32:01 They flooded the zone in a Donald Trump fashion. We could have universal health care. We just seize the assets of all these problematic. That's a good point. We should maybe do that. That's true. Except some are British, so England is going to have to deal with them. Right.
Starting point is 00:32:17 And they have been better about dealing with sex criminals. But the Stephen Tyler, like Stephen Tyler has. Well, let's not give them too much sex credit. There are this centuries of the current crop. Before the last six months or so. Recent track record. Yeah. But some of the problematic Stephen Tyler issues, he has been sued for recently, I believe.
Starting point is 00:32:38 Okay. But I'm sure that factored in. It must have. They're like, does this get way worse? And then do we have a... That lit a fire, I'm sure. But I'm sure for a long time, though, like, this is probably going to go. Well, because they've dealt with other, you know, there was another famous sex criminal who was the star of a Disney
Starting point is 00:32:57 attraction across the world and then at some point they brought that back in let's not be showing that anymore and then when he passed away you know what we changed our minds and then when we remember and they're like wait okay we changed our minds again so yeah Disney I don't know
Starting point is 00:33:13 they call it as they see it it's a it's a shifting metric they see which way the wind is blowing perhaps as well and yeah a certain point after he passed away everyone was like maybe you didn't do it maybe it was okay And then years later
Starting point is 00:33:28 He did die So kind of yeah Do we really want to keep punishing him Not shows 3D movie anymore But lately with recent Box Office success You gotta wonder if they're starting to think maybe We
Starting point is 00:33:41 It's also a matter of like How many decades after some of these guys Pass away Will it feel like they were fictional Sure Like Lincoln feels fictional Just as a person in general Yeah
Starting point is 00:33:54 Oh I see Where he's like Hercules or something. Right, that's what I'm saying. So, like, maybe in another 40 years, Michael Jackson is, like, people kind of forget that he existed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:04 So you can kind of, like, give the complete, I mean, from what I hear, the movie is a fictional version of him. The movie, yeah. And, well, yeah, the movie does a big, takes a big leap forward as far as, yeah, turning him into, like, a modern Christ. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Like, so for future generations, if they're able to successfully, like, weed out all the media that would make you question the guy, in 50 years, if, all right, all we know about him is this film, let's put it in. in. You go, oh my God, he's the finest man who ever lived. And he wanted to do his own music, not the music his dad wanted him to do.
Starting point is 00:34:35 How dare his dad say, dude, this successful tour instead of your successful tour? I mean, I think that all of the, all the rocks, living and dead rock stars, all of their versions of these movies are designed to be the only, like, artifact of how they lived once they're gone. Yeah. It's a, it's a very clean version of the story. where they have ultimately triumphed over like some mild problems. Yeah, yeah. They didn't do anything that bad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:03 They were a little, like it's some bad behavior. But ultimately they triumphed. And by the way, these songs are all great, and you should go to the streaming service and stream all of them so the estate can get more money. No, do that. And then that'll help inspire the American Idol Night of it and the jukebox musical of it. It's just, it says it's everyone's best interest if you listen to these songs. These movies are, to me, should be just as offensive as Marvel movies.
Starting point is 00:35:26 to other people. To me, I find them exactly the same way, only I like Marvel more. I've been using the term in all caps, evil biopics. Yeah, and they all are that. It's very funny to look back, and it's like, oh, Walk the Lai was pretty good.
Starting point is 00:35:42 And then, oh, yeah, oh, Dewey Cox, you know, the parody of that kind of movie. Yeah, it really nailed some of the stuff these movies do. And then, like, a number of years later, it's like, let's make those movies, but more evil and shittier. Let's do, like, the tropes were all kind of called out. Should we not do the tropes?
Starting point is 00:36:01 No, let's do a lot more. Let's actually do just the tropes. Yeah, let's just do the tropes and let's find new worst tropes. I guess I'll rule out to Bob Dale and Bruce Springsteen movies because those seem pretty innocuous. Those are different. Even if you dislike them, those are different. Those are not evil biopics.
Starting point is 00:36:19 No. It sounds like one of them is a boring biopic, but yeah, they don't come from evil biopic Corp who is now working on the Billy Joel music for which they may not I'm sorry the Billy Joel movie for which they may not be granted Billy Joel music That's really a problem Yeah they've got the confusing Billy Joel movie
Starting point is 00:36:37 They've got the Jimmy Saville Chronicles They've got The Gary Glitter Prince Andrew rocks out You know On the I like Gary Glitter would be like I've got a wild idea
Starting point is 00:36:50 What if we did a sequel to rock and roll Rock and Rollport 2 It'll never work That's a really good part for my Mike Myers Yeah Mike Myers is a key part of his His main franchises at this point Shrek and evil biopic core
Starting point is 00:37:06 They're already working on the evil jelly roll movie We don't know what he did yet But we're gonna wait for him to do it And then not talk about it Yeah so It was in jail for a while I don't know what he was in jail for I'm not going to look
Starting point is 00:37:25 No, I'm not going to Make a judgment on that While recording this episode Hold on Jason Jelly Roll? The professional wrestler? That's right. Yeah, now see, now you've got the bad joke
Starting point is 00:37:36 Now you've got the spirit I'm just annoyed that As my refund for jelly roll Post Malone Stadium tickets Has not come in yet Oh yeah Well you spent two grand on tickets Front row
Starting point is 00:37:49 20 grand You wanted to go see that show. A lot of a lot of a tours are canceling lately. Post Malone the country star. I mean I don't even know enough about Post Malone to know. Oh he did a country dirty. He's doing a country turn down.
Starting point is 00:38:05 What would you consider Post Malone's music in general? Did he have one of the Spider-Man cartoon smoothie songs? Good question. I think most of his songs as far as I know most of his songs are about Spider-Man. I believe that's his music genre is Spider-Man. Okay. That's a That's news to me, and then maybe I like him more now.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Sunflower? Is he one of the three credit pay bill on Sunflower? That's a great question. I wish I knew the answer. We got to look it up. Okay. So, yeah, he's not on the Muppets, a song list. Although he might be in the queue.
Starting point is 00:38:37 The whole Q song list came out. I don't know if you saw this. Oh, no, I'm not. There's a long, like, loop of just music. And I'll find that here because that has a wide variety of rock and roll music. Great, good, great. So there's at least that. I don't think they're done by the Muppets.
Starting point is 00:38:54 They're the real songs. Was it all Aerosmith's music in the queue in the prior? That's a great question that I don't really know. Yeah. Because I saw that in Paris, it was just like rock in general, which at that time was like stained in POD. Huh. I mean, that stained in P.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Florida, I don't know. That's a good question. I don't know that either. But there's, let me find, oh, sorry, I should have had this right here. Let me find the list here. Well, what do I, you're both. looking up stuff. I want to get in on it. What should I look up? Well, you could look up
Starting point is 00:39:27 with a video of Youngblood climbing into the audience at the Greek theater a few days ago. Sounds great. All right, listener, we'll be back in a minute. We all got Googling to do, so... Just give us a sec. Click, click, click, click,
Starting point is 00:39:41 all right, I've got it. I've got it. Okay. There are, you know, we've got go-goes. You got U-2. You got In excess. You got Paramore. You got Creed. There's a few Dr. T's songs. I was waiting for when something good going to be in this list and then you hit me with the good stuff they got higher by creed i would have preferred my sacrifice by creed well that's universal created you know oh shoot they would be mad because
Starting point is 00:40:04 the music video yeah that's that's true dicey you know you know you got you got 15 step by uh radio head which song i really like uh you got ridden by van haelin uh you got strokes you got greta van fleet oh yeah speaking of rock and roll they should have been the Why were they in the... They're in the Grin de Van Fleet, somber, young blood, geese. I'm like, ah, not for me. You've got Everlong Food Fighters. You've got a black key song called Lonely Boy,
Starting point is 00:40:37 which I assume is the soundtrack to some sort of steakhouse or bourbon commercial. Yeah, yeah, probably. Wait a minute. For a brand of chains. Or some sort of chain. Yeah, whatever. Need chains. that B cut or album cut
Starting point is 00:40:57 Everlong played in public Now I've heard everything I think I quite understood that perspective I guess is that joke that that's a very popular It's an overplayed It's a very yeah it's an overplayed I guess it's overplayed I'm mad at everyone
Starting point is 00:41:12 Yeah no I like it real long Oh well then I'm fine with everloom I was Googling I couldn't remember the name of the Weaser Muppets And it was keep fishing from dope nose. Not from the dope nose from. No. Different song on that album.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Oh, it's from Malletroyd. Yeah. Dope nose is a single. Dope nose is a single. Okay. But yeah, that's, that was a time I feel like when the Muppets were like a little bit on the down. And it was like, oh, wow, they dusted the Muppets off for this Weezer video. I know.
Starting point is 00:41:44 That was very refreshing and like, and kind of on the set. I mean, it was kind of its own invention, the look, but it was kind of the curtain of the Muppets show and the backstage of the Muppet show and the backstage of the Muppet show. show. That's like the most Muppet show content you would get for like decades. Yeah. I thought that was. I think that's a great piece.
Starting point is 00:42:02 I like the song. I like the Muppet presence in it. And you like the acting of Rivers. I like Pat jumping around trying to escape and get back on the drums instead of animal because Miss Piggy tied him up. I like, there's a part where Kermit like gives a little hug while singing to Rivers. I think it's a really. sweet moment. Like, wow, they're actually, and he kind of smiles.
Starting point is 00:42:26 I'm like, this is good. That's fully good to me. I mean, enjoy this Weezer praise because there ain't much more coming. And whatever this new Kenny beats produced Weezer comes out, you're going to be singing a different tune, I think. You know, it's going to be Weezer Summer. That's what I think is going to happen when this goes. Although, we don't have a release date yet for it, but the singles out. It might be, we might have to wait till fall for Weiser Summer.
Starting point is 00:42:46 It might be Weas or fall. I'm not sure. Well, look, that's a good, that's a good lineup of stuff. Does that help ease? There's some songs you like in there. Does that ease the blow of it not being Erasmith? And do you... There's a lot of things I will point.
Starting point is 00:42:59 You got a lot of pointers. That's a lot of Mike pointers in there. Pointer sisters, I don't know. I'm pointing up when Skater Boy comes down. Skater Boy's a point? Yeah, sure. Skater Boy. And what are you, yeah, what are you conveying?
Starting point is 00:43:11 Do you just answer the question? When you point at Skitter Boy, the thought you were trying to express is what? Is that Skater Boy's playing. Remember that from 20 years ago? Well, you're going. Like, well, hey, I'm still young, but back then I was really young. Yeah, that's probably part of it. That's a little wrapped up in there.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Probably part of it. Yeah, and these are just the songs. These are not, these are Muppet covers or they're not? So there are a couple, Dr. Teeth. There's rock and roll all night. There's, uh, let's see here. There's a couple. There's something rock on.
Starting point is 00:43:44 I don't know if that's an original or who does a song called rock on every band. Possibly. Yeah, yeah. Rock on by David Essex? I don't know. I don't know. Something called Mayhem by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Okay.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Theme song of show, possibly. Possibly. And then that looks like that's all as far as Muppet music in the queue. Okay. What's your general feeling about Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem? That might help us understand where we're at with this whole thing. That's a good question. Specifically those, I mean, I always liked them okay, but they weren't my favorite part of the Muppet.
Starting point is 00:44:20 movie. I don't know if I found sock their teeth too aggressive. I'm not really sure. You like rock and roll. Let's slow down. Let's calm it down here. I mean, like, you know, the Muppet songs are like Paul Williams, but it's those gentlers. But did he not also write? Of course. Yeah, yeah. Can you picture that?
Starting point is 00:44:36 Which, that's what I love, that, that that song factors into this and I mean, there's a Paul Williams song in a theme period. Yes, that's, that's, newly. That's great. That's very good, but like, even can look, can you picture that is not, like, an aggressive song. No. No. You're talking about Dr. Teeth's
Starting point is 00:44:52 personality. Not the music that the electric mayhem make. That is not so aggressive. Which is part of, if they were like a real like hardcore band, if they were like a punk band, then I would say, well, okay, the music does maybe lend itself to a very aggressive launch coaster. Okay. But it's a bouncy little, I mean, Dr. Teeth to me is like a parody of Dr. John. Sure. I think that's at least the number one as far as inspiration for him.
Starting point is 00:45:19 So you are now, what you are objecting to is that the music is not rockin enough. It's that the music that like, that it does not match the heavy rock content that was Aerosmith. Yes, that is my argument because I think the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster is such a much more like light, fun, like, I don't want to say jaunty, but like there's so much more like gentleness to that. And you can play all sorts of different music genres. Sure. It's like flowy. It doesn't have to be aggressive. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:51 And it can change vibes. It's very flexible. And with an old 90s coaster that launches you really fast, it just pins you to the back, I feel like you really want something that explodes with excitement. You don't necessarily need a funk song there. I'm not saying it's going to be bad. I'm sure I'll like hearing something on there because the coaster itself is fun. But does, but song two doesn't? I mean, no.
Starting point is 00:46:12 That's why I said. I said song two is my favorite from not having been on it. Okay. Song two seems like the one that I go, okay, that would be fun. But this is what I was a little excited to get into because I feel like they were dropping the songs bit by bit. And forgive me, I don't remember. I might be conflating things, making things up.
Starting point is 00:46:27 We might have been talking about this over text and not in person. I don't recall. But what I recall is, whatever the first song was that was revealed, it could have been Song 2, it could have been born to be wild. I'm not sure. But the attitude that I felt from you was like, song 2, no, that's, I mean, how are they going to? It's like, that doesn't, uh, I mean, if you wanted to do that,
Starting point is 00:46:46 I guess you could be like, I just don't see how. I don't. And my feeling was just, there is no possible song they could put on this that would be satisfied. I think that is the area where you are so Aerosmith-pilled. I don't think there's one song on first. I'm a wheel by Wilco, kicking television by Wilco. If it had become the Willco, the Willcoaster, that would have shut you up. Live cover of replacements color me impressed by Wilco.
Starting point is 00:47:15 These are all things that I would. would have gone, well, now we're cooking. And I would have preferred. And the general Florida audience also would have reciprocated. I would prefer it like a blurb song like Charmless Man or Coffee and TV. Sure.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Yeah, okay, that's fine. But I mean, coffee and TV is like, I mean, if you wanted it, you could. So you could have a little milk cart. Or first band Uncle Tupelo, you could use the song gone maybe. That's a pretty fun, aggressive song. It's rough around the edges.
Starting point is 00:47:46 I don't think that might have been a better choice Why didn't they consult you about this? They should. They should consult me about everything. Opinionator, you've got a lot of rock and roll based opinion. They could have just, they could have at least thrown like chill out tent on their. Oh my God, hold steady coaster.
Starting point is 00:48:00 Now we're cooking, all right? To see Craig Finn acting, come on. That would be awesome. This is what I want. I'm a man of a certain age who likes a certain genre of rock and roll. that he heard in college. You know. Yeah, those are your two bands
Starting point is 00:48:20 that you like from college. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, this is that you guys overlap a lot. Mike listened to music for four years of college. Jason, about two, I'd say. Yeah. Then we close that aperture.
Starting point is 00:48:29 You might say, it might say Jason stopped, and I did still stop. I kept going. So it lasted a little longer. I just didn't follow well co much after ghost is born, you know. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:48:42 I mean, Sky, Blue Sky is good. It's a good album. Now, what we have here, we do have for the first time, because I think, you know, there was this brief era of red hot chili peppers temporary overlay in the Disneyland coasters. And you think your go-to is they must have played Love Roller Coaster, which they covered for the Beavis and Butthead movie. But that was not one of them. So now we do, it seems almost odd that there was not, unless maybe, I don't know if it was one of the songs on fucking Rip Ride Rocket. Oh, maybe. But now we have an official love roller coaster on a roller coaster.
Starting point is 00:49:17 There's a cleanliness to that that is outside of any Muppets or Aerosmith. I don't think I'm going to convince you with this argument. It would work on the Guardians coaster. It would work better on the Guardians coaster. That's my feeling. Because it's a little, it's more late. You're dancing a little more with Love Roller Coaster. But what Aerosmith songs are we hearing on?
Starting point is 00:49:38 What were these songs that were so driving that were almost to a punk degree, you would say. Toys in the attic, you know. It's more straight ahead, rock and roll. That's all. It doesn't bounce as much. It's not sort of dancey songs. Because I wrote down, you know, what are some of the songs that we're missing that we don't
Starting point is 00:49:57 no longer get to hear? Why we don't get to hear nine lives. We don't get to hear F-I-N-E. We don't get there back in the saddle. It does feel like Young Lust. Young Lust gone forever. Were they starting to have a problem with that? It does feel like they got some of their, like, you know, we got to promote a couple of these lesser era.
Starting point is 00:50:19 Like, they got maybe some of their selects in there as well. Oh, sure. Like, when they signed the contract. Like, let's get some play for the young lust in there and see if we can get it. Can't just be. What's the most famous song that was on the Aresmith? Sweet emotion. They did do sweet emotion.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Walk this way, probably. Was that in the end? Or was there actually? It looks like a lady probably is the most famous. That was on there. hit. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:44 But it looks like a lady. Is that much more rocking to you than like, I mean, what else is on? Like, I mean, literally, I hear what you're saying, but there's more rock attitude than the song Walking on Sunshine. Yes. But Walking on Sunshine literally is a fast song. That's true. It is fast.
Starting point is 00:51:04 The tempo-wise, that's hard to argue. I understand some of this is like hypothetical because I haven't felt my feelings while on the ride. And that's why we will do that. I understand that. I think, yeah, that is the biggest thing that we can't assess here is like the blend of what, and does this work with the sensations of the ride. It's really hard to say and to guess.
Starting point is 00:51:22 But isn't, but born to be wild, I know it's being performed partially by a chicken. However, just literally, is there that big of a difference between, I mean, dude looks like a lady is not. That's kind of, that's like a trailer song. It's not, it's not the best Aerosmith choice for the ride. I will agree with you. I hear what you're saying about that That was pump. No, not pump.
Starting point is 00:51:44 Fine. Fine, on pump. Keep fishing from dope nose. Yeah, that wouldn't have been that. It's too. I'm trying to think what would be a good Weezer song for one of these. I'm sorry, I messed up the album title. I mixed up the album title with a single name from that.
Starting point is 00:52:03 Album from 23 years ago. Now apologize for the jokes. Oh! I'm trying to think What would it be a good Weezer song That I feel like Is the right like fast spirit Because it's not hash pipe
Starting point is 00:52:19 It's not buddy holly It's not the sweater song I'll tell you that No Very slow What about the radio edit Known as pipe For each pipe
Starting point is 00:52:28 I got my pipe You know Maybe holiday I would like Holiday might be good Now you know what would be good On the Guardians Coaster Only in Dreams
Starting point is 00:52:39 The last track on the Blue album. That would be good. Which is like an eight-minute moody song. And if they could just run the coaster a couple times so I could get an extra if you get if you get that one. Maybe they'd have to run it like three or four times in a row so I could get the whole thing. That would be good for that
Starting point is 00:52:55 coaster. Yeah. Weezer would have signed on by the way. It's probably, it's not so crazy that we're talking about this because there was Muppet interaction and I think they'll do I think they actually might they're like hmm our songs on a Disney roller coaster. Not cheesy enough? They would go like, well let's see if six flags made a better. Too much
Starting point is 00:53:10 Dignity. Yeah, yeah. Through the Weezer Coaster at Six Flags. Yeah. You know what I'd love to hear on there is their cover of Billy Jean. Oh, my God. Oh, best song I've ever. Rivers just uploaded a bunch of, like, demos, one being Billy Jean to his YouTube, like two nights ago.
Starting point is 00:53:27 Yeah. How did the demo of Billy Jean? I didn't listen to it. Stack up to the perfect recorded version of Pilly Jean. Oh, Pilly Jean, that song originally sung by that Christ-like figure who suffered for all our sins? There you go. I like that was a good idea. I likes the question format there.
Starting point is 00:53:45 By the actor who's in that Disney World movie? Huh. Do you mean Angelica Hughes? No, no. Oh, the other guy. Oh, okay. The actor. The actor.
Starting point is 00:53:55 He's a man black two, three? Yeah. Yeah. Agent two. Agent two. I could be Agent M. Which apparently was a huge pain in the ass to shoot. I was just reading.
Starting point is 00:54:07 I saw the clip from Jason Alexander's podcast. Oh, yes. That's what it was. Oh, yeah. He's telling the story about Michael Jackson. Amy Pascal forcing Michael Jackson into the movie because they had a album coming out. Oh, that was to promote Invincible? That's what he was saying.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Wow. And that Michael wouldn't come out of the trailer, didn't want the outfit on. He had to go and like convince him to do it. And it was a back and forth. And then he finally, I'm missing parts of the story. But then he basically he did the cameo in Men and Black. And he wrote Barry a note that said he was so happy to do it. so honored and that ever since he was a kid he wanted to be a men in black
Starting point is 00:54:44 despite the comic not coming out until the 90s there's a couple other great things I'm missing also that interview that's a great he's got a lot of great stories he's got stories about ripped horn from men and black and Tommy Lee Jones not getting along wow like I highly recommend that interview he's a cool guy all those movies and then he's also like he's also like he's He's the DP of misery.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Oh, yeah. He worked with the Coen brothers, and then he just like ends up doing Adam's family and men in black and the 90s. There's some of the best. Owned by very son and thought. I think. If nobody's ever found this or if I haven't talked about it on the show before, I just wonder how that compares to Michael Jackson's performance as Agent MJ,
Starting point is 00:55:33 a similar character in the movie Miss Castaway and the Island Girls. This is something I like to bring up at every juncture. One of the strange, it's this weird, straight to video, underground comedy movie type movie. I've not seen that somehow he is in, I don't know, what favor he owed or who he was trying to keep from suing him to be in this. But he is so drugged up beyond, but he's like, like, he is not there. He like appears as a vision in the sky. And knowing that, here's the funny thing about this scene, knowing that if you're going to put somebody up in the sky like an angel or something, thing. How would you shoot that? How would you, if you're going to put somebody up in the sky,
Starting point is 00:56:13 just if you're the director, how do you film the person? Put it pointed up, put it on the ground. Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, what I was getting at is maybe you do it in front of a green screen, right? So you can get rid of the green and then, and then I looked up the behind scenes footage and he's just in front of a bookshelf. The most complicated background, you could possibly, could not be more or Dita. So he looks bizarre and like somebody had to go in, like, hand to do. He looks fuzzy. It's one of the weirdest. I don't know why the fuck Michael Jackson is in this movie. Scott, you just unlocked something that I hadn't thought about in years, which is the
Starting point is 00:56:47 mostly advertised on late-night infomercials underground comedy movie. Yes, the underground comedy movie. This could be a good club three area. By the eventual hawker of the slap shop. Is that true? Yeah. Yeah. Because he would, I forget the order, but he, like, since he was so good at promoting this weird
Starting point is 00:57:07 movie via infomercial, they're like. What if you just are, you're an infomercial guy now? I don't remember, now his name is not coming. Vince Offer, Vince Offer, of course. Anyway, there appears to be a full-length good copy on YouTube of the Underground Comedy movie, which is not, let's remember, the in-appropriate comedy.
Starting point is 00:57:29 No. Also by him, though? I think so. Yes, yes. The thumbnail for that is just, like, a confused-looking, Adrian Brody. Is that Adrian Brody? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:41 Yes. Your favorite. Your favorite. Michael Jackson. What lore is that he's my favorite? He's the only actor you criticized in the last five years. You had a run of praising every single actor, Azel Dazzle Jason, and then the only the first one we found where you said something negative.
Starting point is 00:57:58 To load it, too complicated. I'm still upset by Ross de Man. But also, I think he should have been on SNL-50 and they should have squashed the Ross to Man beef. I think that would have been fun to have, like, who are the other people? Seagal, Ross to Man. You're saying by bringing out Sean Paul himself, the musical guest at the time, and have them shake hands.
Starting point is 00:58:25 The musical guest he was introducing with a very offensive. I think that Lauren shoulda came out and just showed, like it was a row of people that were a pain in the ass on S&L and he just shakes their hand and goes, I forgive you. I forgive you. So we got Brody, we got Sengal. George Steinbrenner. Justin Bieber.
Starting point is 00:58:50 That is a good idea. What did those two do? I don't think they were just annoying. Oh, okay. I don't think anything terribly bad. Yeah, yeah. Anyways. Okay, let me get, let's mention this area of the music.
Starting point is 00:59:02 Maybe that most confusing one in a way, rock, rock till you drop by Def Leopard. Yeah. Something I should have listened to in preparation for this so that I could assess, is it punk enough to be played in lieu of Aerosmith? But it's a confusing one, because Def Leopard, sure, and I like Def Leppard, but I don't know Def Leopard very well. I just know the big song. So this one's, it's on the big album, but it's not a single. Yes.
Starting point is 00:59:26 I did listen to it like last week, and I went, listen, fine. I'm not sure why this was the choice, though. Okay. If you had to now make a list of all the song, the Aerosmith songs that were played prior. Where does rock rock till you drop rank in the list? Below all of them. Last place.
Starting point is 00:59:43 Easy last place. Below fine from pump. Yeah, I'll say below fine. I need to listen to this as myself. Do you think it was selected just because it had rock in the name twice? I mean, there's a lot of songs, and I've said this maybe on the show before. I love it when songs reference rocking. A lot of, especially old guys, love to write about how they rock.
Starting point is 01:00:07 ACDC has multiple songs about how they rock Those are about to rock We salute you Thin Lizzie Springsteen is a song called I'm a rocker So there's a lot of options what I'm saying I'm not I'm still so I'm not sure exactly why The Deaf Leopard one was chosen
Starting point is 01:00:23 I'm not sure Yeah But maybe somebody liked it on the It's yeah I don't know Or this was a we will participate But we will not give you one of the famous songs Maybe for whatever reason It seems weird though
Starting point is 01:00:34 That you go well Never mind then Yeah They appear and the attraction in the pre-show materials. There is a runner with multiple celebrity guests with Robin. Not seen in a long time. Robin.
Starting point is 01:00:44 That's exciting because I like Robin. New album, I think, or touring. We mean Robin Kermit's nephew. Who? The frog? I'm just teasing. I'm just joking. I'm just joking.
Starting point is 01:01:02 It would be good music for the ride. But no. The frog I am referring to Who is given a fun game That I don't think that Robin had before Which is like being pestery With a litany of questions That never ends
Starting point is 01:01:18 And Robin I didn't realize It's hated by certain Muppet fans What? Robin is like a yes I've heard Robin is not a popular character Robin's a great gazoo But I yeah Robin's a scrappy do
Starting point is 01:01:28 I feel that I feel people like people Like people that are much more Hardcore Muppet people Right than me Don't like Robin And I always liked Robin Yeah
Starting point is 01:01:35 I know, well, because Robin's in that Christmas special, which I love very much. And the movie, right, and Christmas Carol. Yeah, it's tiny to him. Yeah, yeah. Man, Robin's great. So it's nice as you see Robin, and Robin interacting with Def Leopard, with Joe Elliott and Phil. Colin. Not Phil Collins, Phil Collin.
Starting point is 01:01:53 But in the rapid-fire questions, there is like, did you do a song about sugar? And they say, kind of. That's a fun little moment. That's fun. The song you might think would be on there, but, you know, possibly to, it's actually Oh, sugar, da, da, that, that. Yeah, there you go. That famous deaf leopard song.
Starting point is 01:02:11 Let's talk a little about this pre-show stuff. Yeah. The sense that I get is that they, well, so, I mean, they definitely added more video materials, like, as opposed to, it used to be more, it's posters and stuff, and there's no, like, scenes until the famous Erosmith, Ileana Douglas, silent Ken Marino scene. but they've added a ton more stuff with kind of this clever use. I feel like it's the screens that used to be. It was space meant for posters, but now they make it like vertical video as if some online TikTok-ish feed of different people at the concert
Starting point is 01:02:49 waiting for the concert, telling the basic story of they are not. Electric Mayhem has not arrived at their own show. And this is how they fit in tons and tons of celebrity cameos. And a lot of these scenes are just like good little charming. Yes. You know? I'd love to not like it.
Starting point is 01:03:08 Yeah. I'd love, but I'm too honest. Well, this is where this is hard for you to dislike because it's not replacing anything. Yeah. It's not replacing anything Erosmith oriented. Right. Now, it would have been nice if they filmed a lot of extra video content with Aerosmith back in the day to entertain you while you were in line. That would have been good.
Starting point is 01:03:23 It makes me jealous that we didn't get that for 25 years or whatever, 30 years. Yes. However, whatever year it is. A lot of sketches to get the classic quick-witted sketch sensibility of Aeros. Smith. Joey Kramer doing comedy is what I wanted to see. And we'll never get to see it. I mean, we did see it in The Simpsons. That's true. We did. Mrs. Crabopal, I need my drumsticks back. That's a good line reading. It's kind of, it's actor adjacent. Yeah. But, you know, a bunch of, you get Weird Al in there. You get Danny Trejo in there. You get Aquafina, sadly not performing the Scuttle Butt.
Starting point is 01:04:01 But nonetheless, doing what she can. What do we like in here? I like a good, you know what, drummers doing flat line readings. I really like Travis Parker doing some not good, some classic old-fashioned, not-good musician acting. Yeah. There's a Stamos in there. There's a Stamos in which the Beach Boys are named checked.
Starting point is 01:04:25 He says he's trying to get into the concert and mentions he plays drums for the Beach Boys. I like that that is said. We like that. And what a fun little, like he's, a parks guy and then they nod to like it's that only VIPs are allowed in here and then getting in past him or the Lincoln animatronic and the big Thunder Mountain that is good that's good modified fun designs there's a role for him I'm playing opposite bobo the bear from muppets tonight who
Starting point is 01:04:54 is a great scene partner for prince and that's a famous episode I look I wanted to I wanted them to be lazier so I could trash it all of this completely. I will be honest with you. I was hoping it was lazy shit. Yeah. I was hoping there was no extra stuff. It was exactly the same when you walked through the first part of the line. And then it was a very lazy video, whatever and nothing. Like, I have to give it up that everything I've seen is like fun. And definitely like like livens up the line. Live like. Yeah. I have the concern that maybe I haven't been there in the physical space, but it feels like you maybe aren't getting too much of it. I think you're getting rushed through this. I think that's right.
Starting point is 01:05:33 I think you don't have time to enjoy all of it, which I guess you can see a lot of new stuff then if you go on a lot. Yeah, yeah, true. But you're not. And get different songs. And so it rewards rewriting it. Because when you're in the building, I think you start to move pretty quickly. Yeah. I think depending.
Starting point is 01:05:49 It's not a lot of rooms if it's not dissimilar to how it was before. You get stuck outside. That's a brutal. That is really brutal. Yeah. That's a tough zone out there. Yeah. I'm glad there is a nice new music playlist to get you through.
Starting point is 01:06:02 Right. The heat out there. You get, I mean, the most notable thing. And this you got to love, and I hope that you love this as a fan of the original, that we continue the stories of the characters from G-Force Records. Everyone but Aerosmith is back. Ileana Douglas is back, who rarely appears in film and television. So that is, that's a real treat.
Starting point is 01:06:28 And that references the old character. and she says she used to be a band manager and I was in a situation like this before. And then Ken Marino. We give Ken Marino a big full scene. This makes me smile very much. That this is like a level of attuned to the fandom and the nerds that they were not years ago.
Starting point is 01:06:52 Yes. That they thought to do this, that they thought that people would be excited that this guy who we know and are fond of from lots of great other things in comedy, and Veronica Mars and whatever, that we would want to see his oddly silent role in that pre-show forever acknowledged, and that he's moved up at the company, that he's like an asshole big wig, which is a thing he plays very well.
Starting point is 01:07:14 It is like, and I forget the actor's name, it's like seeing the diarrhea man from Mission Impossible one in the last Mission Impossible. A movie I think is weird and not nearly as good as the other Mission Impossible and whatever, but honestly very exciting to see a guy with that one scene from the first mission of possible coming back and having a very large part in eight it's a similar thing to that where you're like man that is a fun little thing yeah if you've been following any of this stuff like we have and other nerds have yeah to see ken marino's like roll expand is exciting it's really good i used to be on a sketch team with his brother-in-law zack oyama who people might know from dropout. Sure. And, uh, college humor stuff.
Starting point is 01:08:03 And so did he give any insight on his role on the rock and roller coaster? Uh, no. I think briefly, you were just named dropping? I think rented in a house, uh, rented a house we met at once or twice. Uh, I was on a new prop team with one of the members of the state's wife. How about that? That's right.
Starting point is 01:08:22 Another state connection. I'm not going to say what you want. Not for any reason other than I want people to guess. God, I'm scanning my head. How am I going to. Yeah. my head up in this room if I don't have a connection to the spouse of a state member.
Starting point is 01:08:33 Do you have a connection to the, yeah. Think about it. You, all right, Scott. We know you edited the Michael Ian Black, McAne book. Megan McCain book. Yeah, and I shaped its sensibilities very much. So, you know, I was trying to play it down since you said something.
Starting point is 01:08:52 Let's reach across the aisle. Let's have some civility. We can all agree on that. I check you know check out David Wayne in the Napa boys now on Blue Oh yeah I do and maybe I mean maybe eventually they'll have to demolish this or demolish this or whatever but like following up rock and roller coaster with Muppets and then continuing the G-Force records continuity to me then says like even if they
Starting point is 01:09:22 re-themed this again you have to keep G-Force records now now that it's been twice now it's happen on two different versions of this ride. Yeah. It's really cemented in the lore of Disney World. And yes, maybe we can see it elsewhere. Maybe it can become part of sea. Yeah. Society of Explorers and Adventures.
Starting point is 01:09:40 Oh, sure. Yeah, yeah. Who knows? I'm just saying this really underlines, like, this is lore. Yeah. Here. You're right. I like that.
Starting point is 01:09:48 See, I thought you were going to think that was, like, lazy that they didn't change that. No, I think it's good. I think they should sell just a very plain t-shirt that just the G-4 slip. Records logo. Of course. At the gift shop. I don't, I haven't seen the gift shop yet. Yes. So, and then Scooter's uncle bought G-Force records. Is this a character that you see? I don't, Griffin would know this, but he was very excited because this is, this is like a,
Starting point is 01:10:13 this is like deep Muppet lore. Because Scooter's uncle owns the Muppet Theater. Yes. So this is like deep Muppet lore. So this was a little bit of a signal when they, whatever, a couple months ago they said that they, that Scooter's uncle or whatever owns. J.P. Gross. I see. Interesting. So this was a signal to Muppet people like, we're not fucking around as far as continuity.
Starting point is 01:10:37 So obviously, I can't be mad at that either. I could obviously like people involved know their shit. And they're going to give you some like not only G. Force Records lore, some Muppet lore as well. I think, add to it. I think at some point, I forget whether you said this before recording or at the beginning of recording, the worst. so back, which I also saw
Starting point is 01:11:00 Did I say that today? You said that about Weezer is what you said. Oh yeah, we're so bad. Yeah, yeah. No, just that phrase that's used, which I also coincidentally was in a car ad on a website as you were saying that. But I think we might be so back with the Muppets.
Starting point is 01:11:18 In what way? I think this year is going good for that. I got the TV special. They got a ride. We got no pick up though with that. Miss P.E. was arrested at the end of Sabrina Carpenter's store. That was a big thing. We got this... I'm going to a while ago, though.
Starting point is 01:11:31 Huh? Was that this year six months ago? I'm saying in general. I'm saying in general. We got the Kola Scola project. I like your optimism. I just don't... I haven't green lit that Muppet show.
Starting point is 01:11:42 And I'm wondering why that is... And by us mentioning it, we have now... Oh, did we kill it? Oh, sorry. So... But isn't that very Muppet-like that something like that would happen? Let's go haywire. Things go haywire.
Starting point is 01:11:56 Yeah. So I... I like your optimism. Perhaps that will be the case, but maybe this will be like the best Muppet thing that exists for a while also. That's a possibility of that as well. Maybe one of the freshest Muppet thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, let's talk then about the Crown Jewel, really the area where the Muppets get to shine,
Starting point is 01:12:16 but also where Mike's heart starts to sink, which is the full replacement of the pre-show, the recording room scene, the band behind the glass wall, no more Ileana there, no more Kim Marino there, most importantly, no more Aerosmith there. But what you do have is, I read this dry sentence written
Starting point is 01:12:38 in some breakdown of this thing, and I'm like, this puts you in a difficult position, Mike, the sentence I'm about to say. Unlike the Aerosmith version, the Muppets version includes audio animatronics in both the pre-show and unloading areas.
Starting point is 01:12:51 I know. This is a tough thing to be against. We have animatronics, when there were not before. Now, I guess what that tells you that there should have been animatronics of Stephen Tyler and Jeter. Of all the band members.
Starting point is 01:13:01 Of everyone. Brad. It should have just been like Ellen-style energy, Ellen, University-S-Sty-style animatronics in that room for us to enjoy with their voices. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:14 That would have been nice. But that's a failing long in the world. The animatronics at the end, I was a little dismayed because I thought they were right at the end when you get out. of the car and so you could stand there and watch them but they're a little further path they're a little before that see i would this is another thing that i would have to go on it to know but from
Starting point is 01:13:38 videos what you're saying is that at the end of the coaster statler and waldorf appear which i think is something that they did not really broadcast or reveal so when the ride opened or he's like oh i was hoping they'd do something like that and they're kind of in the back of a bus or something and they like roast the music as you get off. They dislike it as much as Mike does. And they're repurposed from Up at Vision 3D, so Styler and Waldorf were saved. Oh, good.
Starting point is 01:14:08 We were trying to figure that out if it was the same one and they just redress them. I have to imagine. I believe, I mean, I could be wrong on that for some technical reason, but I think so. But it does seem like kind of odd placement where you maybe are getting their, joke way before you get to them or you're past them.
Starting point is 01:14:28 Like, you know what I'm saying? I don't know if you always watch videos where you felt the same thing of like, is it hard to time out exactly right with you get them and you're looking at them? I don't know. Yeah, I can't tell quite. Tiny, tiny quibble and I could be totally wrong. This is kind of a thing that bug is in theory that's a great idea, one last hit of something before you get off the ride.
Starting point is 01:14:50 But operationally, when it's like in daily operations. I don't know that the timing kind of works. The end of the Guardians galaxy in Epcot, there's like a transmission from the Guardians of the galaxy. Yes. And that, I mean, that you can see them when you, no, you can't. But I don't know that the timing always works for these kinds of things.
Starting point is 01:15:14 Not sure. I'm not sure. Maybe time will tell. Maybe the timing will tell on the timing. But to backtrack to the other animatronics, in the recording studio scene, you've got two penguin engineers, fun, great, maybe also save from a provision. And you've got scooter kind of running the session.
Starting point is 01:15:34 Well, I'm not sure exactly what he's doing, but he's there. Coordinating, I don't know. Yeah, yeah, helping, doing his scooter stuff. Yeah. This has this fun situation of that he moves like a puppet, like that he has operated exactly as a, real Muppet would be operated.
Starting point is 01:15:53 Like, you know, and I mean that. Like, with some, like, jankiness allowed, or just not janky is the wrong word, like human element. Yeah. And that he has a rod. He has an arm rod. They just made him what the puppet would have. They didn't, like, fix.
Starting point is 01:16:09 They didn't even view it as fixing. Yeah. That's what Scooter should look like. And that's really fun. Yeah. And they mo capped the performer doing it. And you could find a picture of Scooter with Moeck. cap dot in a mocap suit they made a little mocap suit for the puppet yeah and actually did it that
Starting point is 01:16:27 way which is adorable first of all and and so neat that's great i thought it was a joke at first and then i'm like well i guess it does make sense that like it would perfectly like know what his movements are because it's a human doing a puppet and then that would mimic it like i think that is what they did yeah yeah i think that makes sense i think so i know i thought that was like a yeah Because it does look like a little Muppet costume. Right. But I guess it is real. And the stick is like, I also think the stick is a really,
Starting point is 01:16:59 I don't know that they would have always done that in every era. And I don't know, that's just a weird hunch of mine. Yeah. The stick is so important to the Muppet, which is to show that it's not, that it's not, it's not real. There's a suspension of disbelief that you're, that everyone. But it's not, it's taking away the suspension of disbelief because we know that that's for a human being to move.
Starting point is 01:17:21 We popped for the stick for sure. Right. So that's exciting. And Jane was like, look at the stick. Right. That's exciting for a funny reason is that you're, that's to take away your idea that this thing is just moving on its own. That's to make you think there's a human under there.
Starting point is 01:17:35 Yeah. That is an element of it that they like the Muppets aren't too slick. I mean, obviously when Kermit's riding a bike, that's pretty crazy. But everything else is like, you know, you know that this is a puppet on one hand. It's not. It's a crazy. What a just neat, using, like, crazy technology to recreate a guy moving a puppet with his hand. Right.
Starting point is 01:17:58 To, yes. So that's what's, and maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they would have done that anytime they built this in any era. But that's not what they did for, like, you know, Bean Bunny and in Division 3D. Right, right. Jim Henson might not have liked it. Yeah, it's true. He might have said, like, I want, when we have the ability to make them, like, seem like they're autonomous.
Starting point is 01:18:17 Yeah. We should use it. Yeah. But you know what else? but Jim Henson wouldn't have liked the Muppets being owned by Disney and doing this. There's a lot of things he wouldn't have liked.
Starting point is 01:18:24 But then Walt Disney wouldn't have liked any of it. Maybe he wouldn't like Miss Piggy getting arrested at the Sabrina Carpenter's show. Those songs are very sexual. Oh, that's true. A Jim Henson, puppet Jim Henson portrait when you're exiting the ride. That's really sweet.
Starting point is 01:18:40 That's nice, yeah. There's a toy of that that's very expensive. Okay. Of that Jim Henson, puppet. and puppet version. But yeah, I, well, and then like, the riot itself. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:18:58 Here is where I can get on board with you saying. I mean, I don't know, I'm of two minds. Yes, they just put eyes on stuff there was already done. And every, it's literally every sign tit for tat. They just like, well, let's make that. And yes, Pizza Rizzo, let's acknowledge that. There is now a pizza Rizzo sign in this ride. and that is a fun thing that this rose from like,
Starting point is 01:19:20 is this a good restaurant or not too? Well, it is immortalized forever in a roller coaster. And by forever, I mean, until Youngblood takes over the attraction. But I don't know, I'm of two minds. Yes, it's a little slap dash to just like muppetify some of the signs that were already in there. However, how much can you really do? And how much was there really that? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:19:45 I'm torn. I'm torn. I'm torn. Here's what I've thought about this. I've thought of it's long and hard. So they're limited as far as what they're able to do in there. And it doesn't make sense to put robots on it because you're flying so fast. You're not going to enjoy the robots at all. So it has to be flats.
Starting point is 01:20:13 And stuff you can perceive big. You can kind of, right. Yeah. The only, the thing I would have maybe been like, well, that's cool is if you traveled through giant Muppet heads and you went through all of their mouths. Okay. Every character. Every Muppet character. Let's say 30.
Starting point is 01:20:32 What a 50. I don't know. If they just did a trail of different Muppets and you shoot through their mouths, I would have been like, well, you're getting FaceTime with all the characters. Yeah. That's really fun. and that's like the closest I could have been in the same way like we talk about Spider-Man where they get the Universal Islands of Adventure Spider-Man
Starting point is 01:20:52 they get in your face, the characters. Yes. If you could have put giant Muppet faces and you shoot through all their mouths, it doesn't have to necessarily make sense to rock and roll or get into a concert, but I would have been like, all right, well, that's fun. I can enjoy that.
Starting point is 01:21:06 I like that. At least one or two, but obviously like, yeah, they just put a lot of eyes on things because it's, you know, they had a limited budget in this aspect, at this area. This isn't, like, exactly the same, but there's kind of like a fun house-themed ride at Hershey Park, a roller coaster, an indoor like Wild Mouse coaster in Hershey Park. And now they've re-themed it to be about shack-alicious gummies.
Starting point is 01:21:35 The big gummies that a listener kindly sent us. And at one point, at the top of a lift hill, I believe you go through Shaq's giant mouth. I want to go through everyone's mouth. It's very appealing mouths. Big, wide mouths. Big, huge smiles, some of the kindest smiles, who wouldn't want to go through them? One of my fantasies is a big fantastic four ride
Starting point is 01:22:01 where you go through a giant galactus mouth at the end. It's a giant, like, three-story galactus. You go through, like, his mouth at the end, and that's the big thing. There's the Godzilla thing in Japan where you can zip lane through Godzilla's mouth. I want to go in big mouths. I think that's like a monstro.
Starting point is 01:22:19 It's an early core memory of like going inside giant mouths. And I do think that's satisfying. I do find that. There are other big mouths? In fiction? Cave of Wonders. Well, it's in theme parks, I would say. There's a joke on the Simpsons ride.
Starting point is 01:22:36 A journey into my mouth. Yeah. Manjol's journey through my mouth. Yeah. That's a good, that's a good, yeah. How many theme park rides? do you go through people's mouths? What are your favorite?
Starting point is 01:22:46 Listeners, what are your favorite mouths that you go through? Body worst? No, body worse doesn't start in a mouth. You don't get swallowed now. Which you should. And I think to be clear, this is different than the Big Maggie or the dinosaur in Back to the Future, briefly swallowing you and then spitting you out. We're talking all the way through a mouth physically where you can see the dimensions change.
Starting point is 01:23:10 I think a simulator is not as satisfying as a big. In the room, a brick and mortar mouth. Star tours, you go, you get caught in someone's mouth. I think that's not, even if you like that, great, but it's not the same. I like that, but yeah. Physical mouths. Yeah. Yes, Monstro and the story.
Starting point is 01:23:27 Now it's made by hand with love. Yeah. That's the past one. I guess maybe there's not as many as I think. It's something you frequently have to do in a miniature golf course. Yes. But that's a journey for the ball, not for you. Right.
Starting point is 01:23:41 Unless you want to crawl through. I guess if they only have a little, sometimes it's bigger than just the ball, though. You could control, like you could get yourself through a hippo. Depending on how big. If the mouth was opening and closing, you possibly could crawl through when the mouth was open. Or if the ball gets stuck in there and you kind of got to treat your golf club like a pool cue just to jostle it out. Yeah, you could shove your club down its throat, basically, to get the ball dislodged. To make it choke to death.
Starting point is 01:24:09 Right. This is an interesting area. in all the years of all the different little, you know, ride tropes that we enjoy, I think going through a big mouth has not really been addressed. Yeah. It'd be a good thing to do if there was ever a ride of Big Mouth, of the show Big Mouth.
Starting point is 01:24:24 Oh, yeah, you could go through a lot of Bermouth. Great starting point. Just build your premise from there. Yeah. So, yeah, I would like to hear other people's favorite Big Mounds. You know what? Text Joe Wenger that idea. So make a theme park ride?
Starting point is 01:24:38 No, Big Mouth theme park ride. Joe, we've got a pitch for you. I know this series, went off the air quite a while ago. I don't. Joe Wengert, I don't believe I have his phone number. Oh, okay. I could probably DM.
Starting point is 01:24:49 Well, that's another thing. Listeners, if you have Joe Wingert's phone number. Yeah, let us know. Just write it in the comments. And then everybody get involved in a call and text. Coach, Jason and I for about a year, but I don't have his phone number, I don't think. Somebody else must have been the point person on our tarot team. Jason's looking for it.
Starting point is 01:25:02 Just say his number if you have it, actually, Jason. I'll just read it out loud. Just read it on the, yeah, yeah. Remember finally we're doing good work. I'm just calling you came up on the podcast. I've got some pitches. for Kevin if you're making more episodes. It's a theme park. He's texting something.
Starting point is 01:25:18 Yeah, yeah, this is actually getting done. Well, let me, okay, so a big mouth would be helpful for making it. But how do you, now that we've gone through the whole journey, how do you think, and we can't really assess until you go, but I don't know, do you feel better or worse? Do you feel more open to this? Do you feel more impressed by various things that they've done? Or is this ride just dead to you?
Starting point is 01:25:40 I, and again, I, would love to trash it. It feels like, first of all, it's very impressive how fast they turn this around. Yes. For Disney, it feels like everything takes three years, even if it's just, you know,
Starting point is 01:25:54 doing the queue and doing the pre-show. Yeah. They turn this thing around in four months. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they shut down the pre-show early, which upset some people for not being able to say goodbye to the bad boys from Boston.
Starting point is 01:26:06 But they turned, they did everything in like four months. And from what I see, everyone seems to be happy with it. everyone seems to like the pre-show a lot. Animation courtyards open, too. Not the attraction, but like the park kind of. The courtyard that looks like the Burbank lot.
Starting point is 01:26:25 Well, that's good. With some little statues. There's little statues of characters. There's a little Burbank in Florida. That's a tiny Burbank. That's a hampy man of that. So I have to give it up to everybody because it feels like they really put a lot of work into this. Wow.
Starting point is 01:26:42 It does feel like that. And just from looking at it, they like went, they did go above and beyond. I'm sure they like stretched the budget they had. And like it's, it does look for the pre show looks fun. Yeah. I think when I'm on the ride itself, we'll see. But I think the pre show I can probably confidently say is a pretty big success. Well, I would say maybe the solution is do all of it, enjoy all of it.
Starting point is 01:27:10 But when you get on the ride, put on noise-canceling headphones so that you can listen to... I'm a wheel by Wilco or kicking television by Wilco. Or the replacements cover by Wilco. I was going to say, you know, you listen to, you know, something that rocks, like cheesecake from the album, Night in the Ruts. Get out of here walking on sunshine, born to be wild.
Starting point is 01:27:38 Ain't no night in the ruts on here. Anything from honking on Bobo? Sadly not. One of the, come on. They could have, they do a lot of covers, Electric Mayam. They couldn't, they could have honked on Bobo. Yeah, come on. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:52 Yeah. Well, I mean, I feel like you, you, I don't know. You know what? I think you're proving to be very mature here at the end. I'm struggling with it, but I am very mature. I do feel that as well. I feel that I am being mature. There has been growth.
Starting point is 01:28:08 It's not growth so much that you have a big mouth that a vehicle could fit through, but growth nonetheless. And I salute you for this. Thank you very much. Jason, do you salute me as well? I do salute you. And I think I would definitely say in this instance, your bravery has saved the planet Freedom Friday. Oh, okay. Well, thank you.
Starting point is 01:28:28 Jeez. Wow. I appreciate that. Yeah. That's the only thing. If I've known his friend, then picked you up, gave you a kiss and then put you in his mouth for a second. And then let you leave. Well, I want him to put me through.
Starting point is 01:28:38 put it through. In the mouth and then out the other side. Here, come on. Poop you out. He's big. I could easily worm my way through there. And just you, not the other people in your vehicle.
Starting point is 01:28:49 No, just me. Yeah. I want him to eat me and process me. It's your moment. It's more dangerous than if a flesh being did it. You're going to get ground up by those gears. Yeah, probably. It looks very dangerous inside a transformer.
Starting point is 01:29:03 So I wish you luck. It's an honor, though. It is your honor to be ground up into bits. All right, well, you survive podcast The Ride.
