Organifi now has kid stuff. They just released two kid products. One is called Easy Greens,
and it's a refreshing green apple juice where kids will never know that it's packed with veggies. Organifi now has kid stuff. They just released two kid products. One is called Easy Greens,
and it's a refreshing green apple juice where kids will never know that it's packed with veggies.
And the other one is called Protect.
It's a delicious wild berry punch,
like the Kool-Aid that we used to have as a kid,
but without any sugar.
This is really exciting,
and if you've listened to the podcast for a while,
you know that I'm a huge fan of Organifi,
and most specifically because every single product
that they make is glyphosate residue free. So you
know that you're going to be able to give these powders to your kids and know that they will be
able to consume them safely without any glyphosate in it. So let's break down each one. The Easy
Greens is a nourishing and delicious blend of superfoods and veggies that provides essential
nutrients, probiotics, and digestive enzymes to bring balance to kids' growing bodies without
fillers, additives, or junk. It helps to fill in nutritional gaps, aids in growth and development, supports digestive health,
has a rich micronutrient profile, and includes digestive enzymes. This would be a great way to
sneak in greens for your little one without them actually knowing that it's healthy for them.
And the second one, which is the wild berry punch similar to Kool-Aid, is called Protect,
and it is to support your child's daily immune health
with food-derived nutrients
that work to strengthen their body's first line of defense.
I know just through girlfriends of mine that have children
that when your kids are going to school, going to daycare,
they're coming home sick a lot more often
just because they're getting exposed to different kids
and different viruses
when they're out in the world playing with kids.
So this would be a great way to help to support your little one's immune health. It's organic,
and it's also made with real whole food ingredients. It has a delicious berry taste,
and it's low sugar, and it's gentle enough for kids to take every single day. And I really love
the ingredients in this one. It's orange and acerol cherry, which is a powerful source of
vitamin C and antioxidants. Astragalus, elderberry, and propolis. These are all really
great for overall immune health. If you want to try the products that I talked about today or
any of the Organifi products, go to Organifi.com slash RealFoodology and use code RealFoodology
for 20% off. Again, that's Organifi. It's O-R-G-A-N-I-F-I.com slash realfoodology. Hello, friends. Welcome back to another episode of the Real
Foodology podcast. I'm your host, Courtney Swan, and today is going to be a solo episode. I am
Han soloing it today. I haven't done one of these in a while, and periodically I pull on my Instagram
to see if you guys want another solo episode. And general consensus is that you
did. So I put up a Q&A box on my stories, and I'm going to be going through and answering all
your questions. Now, there was a ton of questions about Hector. And there was a ton of questions
about my move. And there was a lot of questions asking what our love story is and how we met.
So I figured I would start out by
sharing that. I have been pretty open on this podcast for the last couple of years about my
love journey, which has not been easy, but I finally met the love of my life and he's just
the best. I'm actually moving to Colorado in two weeks to be with him. I'm moving to Denver.
If you guys have been following me long enough, you know that I actually used to live in Denver.
I went to school at CU Boulder, and then I lived in Denver for a year after that.
And Colorado is kind of home.
I sort of grew up in Telluride, and so I kind of feel like I'm moving back home, which is
really great.
We don't have specific plans about staying in Denver.
I'm hoping to eventually move back to Texas, which would be closer to where my family is for
a lot of the year, but stay tuned on that. So yeah, I'm officially moving in with Hector and I'm
very excited about it and I'm moving at a very good time. I feel like June in Colorado is the
best. You guys know I love to hike. You know, I love to be out in nature.
And I'm just ecstatic about being back in nature.
And it's so gorgeous this time of year.
I feel like I'm just going to be hiking every day and I'm really ecstatic about it.
So, okay.
So I saw a ton of questions asking me what our love story was and how we met.
So I obviously live in LA and Hector lives in
Denver. And I had bought tickets last year to go see one of my favorite DJs. His name is Ben
Bomer and he was opening for Bob Moses at Red Rocks. Red Rocks is one of my favorite venues
to see music. I'm a big music fan. I actually worked in music for 10 years. If you guys don't
know about my history in that, you can go back and listen to the very first episode that I ever recorded.
But warning, it was my first episode.
So let's give me some compassion and grace for that.
But anyways, so music is a big part of my life.
And if you have never had a chance to go to Red Rocks, I highly recommend going and seeing a show there.
It is worth the travel out there, getting a hotel for the weekend and going to a show.
So a girlfriend of mine and I had decided to go out to Denver that weekend to go to the show Red Rocks. And I didn't actually
meet him at the show. So that Sunday after the show, a friend of ours had invited us to go
have lunch and have some drinks. And it was kind of one of those outdoor places where people are
playing games and hanging out. And one of my friends
had matched with somebody on Hinge and they had talked earlier in the day, but they had not talked
about what they were doing. And like they, there was no plans as of yet to meet up. And my friend
and I were actually about to leave and this guy walks in and she's like, oh my God, that guy is so
hot. And then she looks closer and she's like, oh my God, that guy is so hot. And then she looks closer and she's like,
oh my God, that's the guy that I matched with on hinge earlier. And I was talking to him earlier.
So serendipitous that he just happened to walk in the bar and was like right before we left too.
She was super nervous, didn't want to go up and talk to him. So I walked up to him and I was like,
hey, you matched with my friend. I introduced them and they started talking. And then the guy, his friend was Hector. Hector had
come up to me and his first line was something like, hey, do you want to see the golden retriever
puppy that I'm picking up tomorrow? Which unbeknownst to him, golden retrievers are my
favorite dog. I've had three of them in my lifetime. I had them all growing up. And my dream
was to get a golden retriever in my adult life when I have kids and I had them all growing up. And my dream was to get a golden
retriever in my adult life when I have kids and the house and all the things. And so it also felt
like a really cool sign when he said that. I was like, oh, interesting. This guy's getting a golden
retriever puppy. So we started chatting and we hit it off. And we, yeah, we were just like,
how are we going to do this? I lived in LA. He lived in Denver.
I was very not interested in leaving LA. My whole life is here. My best friends are here.
My career is here. And yes, granted, I can do my career anywhere, but I really do feel like LA is
the Mecca. Not feel like it is. LA is the Mecca of nutrition and health and locally grown food
and organic food, healthy food. It also is just the Mecca for the work that I do.
And so I was very scared to leave, but we just decided to take it a day at a time. And here we
are a year later and I decided that love wins. So as scared as I am to leave LA, I'm going to do it.
And we will see, there is a chance that I might go back to LA, depending on Hector's work and what we can figure
out. But for now, we just wanted to finally be together because doing long distance is an
absolute bitch. Anyone that has ever done long distance listening, you know it's not ideal.
But we made it work and he is my best friend in the entire world. I just love him so much. We
have so much fun together. We literally are laughing nonstop.
And I just, I'm so happy.
I'm so excited.
Okay, so I'm scrolling through the questions right now in my stories.
And one of them said, tell us the story of you and Hector.
How did you meet?
What was your first date like?
So I shared all that.
But our second date is a really fascinating, fun one.
So after we met, I flew back to LA.
He was in Denver and he was planning on coming out to see me for Cinco de Mayo.
He was like, I can come out that weekend.
I'll come to LA.
You can show me around.
And he calls me later that day and he's like, okay, I know this is a little crazy, but how do you feel about going to see Rufus DeSole in Cabo? And I was like, oh my God, I think I just met my dream man because Rufus DeSole
is one of my favorite bands. I will travel anywhere to see them, especially Mexico.
So I was like, let's do it. Let's go. Book the flights, book everything.
And then that night I couldn't sleep because I started thinking over and over
again in my head. I was like, okay, I just met this guy. What are you doing, Courtney? Like
you're flying all the way to Mexico with this guy that you just met. He's a total stranger.
It's not like he's coming to LA and you have all your friends around. Like you're going to be in
another country, Mexico nonetheless, which we love Mexico, but it's not always the safest place these days. And this was one of the first times that I really
knew that Hector was a special one. He was a good one because I woke up the next morning and I sent
him a text and I just said, Hey, I'm actually having a little bit of reservations. I'm kind
of nervous because I had the realization that I am flying to a foreign country with a guy that I don't know.
And that makes me really nervous. And I don't know how I feel about it.
And he texts me back and he goes, I completely understand. He goes, honestly, I would be a little
bit worried if you weren't concerned. Let's get on the phone and I will give you all the details
and make you feel as comfortable as I can about it.
And so we get on the phone.
He told me to give my parents his phone number.
He gave me the address.
We had the phone number of a driver
that was gonna pick us up
because in Mexico, it's pretty standard
that you hire someone that you know ahead of time
to drive you because it's just safer that way.
Gave me all the details for absolutely everything
and was so sweet about it and was
like, I just want you to feel safe and comfortable. And so our second date, I know this is not
completely answering the question, but our second date was a Rufus DeSole music festival in Cabo,
which was just the best. It was so much fun. And that really strengthened our connection. And it
was just, it was the best. Okay. Moving on to
other questions. This is a far right turn from what we were just talking about. Not,
not far right politically, just meaning that this is a totally different question.
So somebody asked me how to prepare for egg freezing. Anything you wish you would have
known or changed? I really love this question because there's a lot of things that I wish that I had known and changed. So I got my eggs frozen when I was 36.
I am very healthy and I stay really on top of my health.
But there were some things that I will admit that I went into it maybe a little bit too confidently.
And I didn't really look into things that could have helped my fertility more. And that
is totally on me. I'm admitting that. I wish that I had looked into these things further.
I was 36 when I froze my eggs. I don't know why I did not look into this more at the time. I just,
I don't know. I didn't really think about things that I could have done to improve my fertility
before then. So one of the things I've actually talked about this before in a podcast is taking
something called urolithin A. I believe I'm saying that right. There's a product from Timeline
called MitoPure. And essentially what it does is it feeds the mitochondria and helps the
mitochondria work better. And if you guys remember from seventh grade biology, the mitochondria and helps the mitochondria work better. And if you guys remember from, you know, like seventh grade biology, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell,
meaning that it's the battery for the cells, right? And without your mitochondria, you literally die
when your mitochondria die, like you're out. So our mitochondria are really the essence of
the health of our cells, right? And they play a huge role in fertility. Now I have a girlfriend
who works as a nutritionist and she has clients and she had four or five different women clients
who were really struggling with getting enough eggs when they were freezing them. And she put
them on this Mito Pure and it really exponentially ramped up the amount of eggs that they got. So
I wish that I'd done that. There's also a lot of peptides. If you guys are keeping up to date with all the peptides craze that's
happening right now, yes, there's Ozempic, but there's also a ton of other peptides that people
are on and talking about. And there's different ones that can do different things. There's ones
that can boost fertility. There's ones that can help you lose weight. There's ones that can boost
your testosterone. If you're a male, I highly recommend looking into Huberman, Andrew Huberman's list of peptides that he takes every day. And I believe
he has a podcast where he goes over all of this or he definitely does. But yeah, so I would have
also looked further into peptides that I could have taken to just really further my fertility.
I also will say that I wouldn't have drank alcohol for like months before. Now, I don't drink that much at all.
It's actually pretty rare for me to drink now.
But I was still like drinking wine and having a glass of wine here or there.
And I would have done a full blown like full on detox before freezing my eggs just because I feel like it would have made the health of my eggs better.
Okay, now I get this question a lot in my stories. So I want
to answer this on the podcast because I mean, every time I post about filtered water, I get
this question probably 50 times. When drinking reverse osmosis water, do you always have to add
minerals back? Yes. So you have to think about it like this, guys. There's minerals that are
naturally occurring in water, right? They naturally occur when they come from the spring. And when you're filtering, when you use a really
good water filter like reverse osmosis, which you need to use because there's pharmaceutical drugs,
there's heavy metals, there's pesticides, there's birth control SSRIs, like there is so much crap
in our tap water now that it is absolutely imperative if you want to live a healthy life
to have a good water filter. And a good water filter is reverse osmosis. But unfortunately, the reverse osmosis
is so good that it filters out everything. Now that means it filters out all of the good minerals
too. So you have to put minerals back in when you filter water. Okay, I really love this question.
Someone said, what are your opinions on certified health coaches? I'm thinking of doing a program. I actually wrote a
post about this a really long time ago on my blog that I don't even use anymore. I mean,
it still sits up there, but I am not a fan of doing a certified health coaching certificate.
If you genuinely want to help people, you need to really know your stuff. You need to go through all the science classes. You need to take
biochem, anatomy and physiology. You need to go through the real basics of nutrition and biology
to really learn how the human body works because you can't just take a certificate for a couple
weeks and think that you are equipped enough to help people with their health. Now, it's one thing
if you want to just help people maybe make better diet choices, but if you are equipped enough to help people with their health. Now, it's one thing if you want to just help people maybe make better diet choices,
but if you are genuinely wanting to help people as our society is getting sicker and sicker and sicker
and they're dealing with really serious stuff like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer risk, obesity,
you need to really know your stuff.
And that means that you need to go back and get a
real degree because you're going to want to know all of that and be well equipped. And I just don't
like that people can now go online and do a quick little, you know, like five week course. And then
they take on clients and think that they can help people. And I know that that sounds harsh, but you
know, we're dealing with a incredibly sick population. Only 8% of our population right now is metabolically
healthy. And if you genuinely want to work with clients and you want to help people,
then you need to really know your stuff and you need to know what you're talking about.
All right. I really like this next question. Someone asked, what is the number one thing
you recommend for someone just learning about all this? I would say, make it really simple. Let's just come back to the basics.
Let's think about what have humans, what have your ancestors been eating since the dawn of time?
It's really simple. Meat, produce, so fruits and vegetables, whole grains. Let's just think about
what is real food. If it was once alive, that is something that is considered real food. If it's something that your great grandparents would recognize as food,
then that is what you want to be striving for to eat. We overcomplicate all of this, you know,
and I get questions all the time in my DMs for, oh, is this product okay? Or is this healthy? And
what I hope to do with my page is to really empower people to
learn how to decipher for themselves. And it's really simple. Chances are, if it has a long
ingredient list, you probably want to put that back on the shelf. If there's an ingredient in
there that you have to Google and you don't know it, chances are you probably want to put it back
on the shelf. Now, are there anomalies to this? Yes,
of course. There always is. It's not black and white, right? But that is a general rule of thumb
that if you don't recognize that as something that is real food, if you can't look at an
ingredient label and say, oh, I know exactly where I can buy this specific ingredient in the grocery
store, then you want to put it back. If there's an ingredient on the
label, like polysorbate 80, for example, you're not going to go, oh, I know exactly where polysorbate
80 is in the grocery store. No, because it's made in a lab and we can't buy that at a grocery store.
So if there's an ingredient on a list and you're like, I could not buy that at the grocery store,
I don't know what this is, then you should probably put it back. Somebody asked, best advice for brain fog? I would get your gut checked out. I would do a GI map test
through your doctor. Most doctors can order that. And I would take a look at what is going on in
your gut because we know everything starts in the gut. So it could be parasites. It could be
some sort of bacterial infection, pathogens, an overgrowth of maybe yeast or
candida.
That is a really big one, actually.
It could be an overgrowth of one of those, like yeast, candida.
It could also be hormones.
So if you're still struggling and you don't get any answers from the GI map, then I would
also recommend going to your doctor and asking for a hormone panel and finding out where
your hormones are.
I'm always looking for ways to improve my mitochondria because our mitochondria are life force. They are the battery of the cell after all. My boyfriend loves to frequently
remind me that that's the only fact that he remembers from biology, but mitochondria actually
are so imperative to our overall health. When our mitochondria start to decline,
everything else goes with it. That's when we really start to see signs of aging. So it's
so incredibly important to support our mitochondria in any way that we possibly can, which is why I
take Timeline Nutrition MitoPure to support my mitochondria. It contains an ingredient called
urolithin A, and that alone significantly increases muscle strength and endurance with no
other change in lifestyle, according to the clinical studies. Timeline Nutrition has loads
of studies. They are a global leader in Urolithin-A research, and their products are NSF
certified for sport. If you want to go back and listen to the podcast episode I did with the
founder, we go over in depth all about the research and we talk about all the amazing
benefits of MitoPure. For example, maintaining muscle health, which is incredibly important to
longevity and enduring good health. It also has postbiotics, the active nutrients your body makes
during digestion. They're an emerging driver of good health. And Urolithin A is one of the first
postbiotics shown to have major health benefits and it has become available to all of us in
Timeline MitoPure. It also upgrades your body's cellular power grid, giving your body the energy
it needs to optimize. Also, this is purely anecdotal, but I do have a friend who works
one-on-one with clients for nutrition and she had five or six different women take Timeline
MitoPure and improve their egg quality and egg numbers when they were doing egg retrievals.
So when I went and froze my
eggs, I wish that I had known about this because I would have taken this before I froze my eggs.
Again, that's just purely anecdotal. There's no studies to back it up, but it is something
interesting. They come in soft gels. They also come in their protein powder, or they have just
the simple powder that you can buy. I get the ginger powder and I put it in my drinks every
morning. Timeline is offering 10% off your first order of Mito Pure. Go to timelinenutrition.com slash realfoodology and
use code realfoodology to get 10% off your order. That's T-I-M-E-L-I-N-E-N-U-T-R-I-T-I-O-N.com
slash realfoodology. I recommend trying their starter pack with all three formats.
Is it just me or is colostrum just totally taking the internet by
storm? I mean, I'm so happy about it. And it's so interesting how certain things will just become a
massive trend. I've been taking colostrum for probably at least 10 years now or so. My mom
got me on it. It's an ancient practice used for immune function. It really helps to strengthen
and bolster the immune system. And I will say
Armra Colostrum has really taken the internet by storm. And for good reason, it is a really good,
high quality colostrum. I get so many DMs from you guys just specifically asking me
if I use Armra Colostrum. And yes, I do. I've been taking Armra specifically for
almost a year now. I travel with it everywhere I go. I bring the little individual packets with me
and I especially take it while I'm. I bring the little individual packets with me,
and I especially take it while I'm traveling because that's when we are most susceptible to getting sick. And you know what's really cool? There's actually a study that's been done
comparing the effects of the flu vaccine and colostrum, and colostrum performed better in
protecting the body from the flu. Isn't that wild? And this is a peer-reviewed study posted in a
very well-renowned medical
journal. So what is colostrum? It is the first nutrition we receive in life and contains all
the essential nutrients we need in order to thrive. Armour has a proprietary concentrate
of bovine colostrum that harnesses these 200 plus living bioactive compounds to rebuild your
immune barriers and fuel cellular health for a host of research backed benefits. Armaclostrum strengthens
immunity. It ignites metabolism. It fortifies gut health. It helps activate hair growth and
skin radiance. And I actually have seen all my little, I have all these baby hairs that have
been growing since I started taking it and it helps to power fitness performance and recovery.
And what's cool is we have worked out a special offer for you, my audience, my listeners,
who I absolutely adore. You're going to get 15% off your first order. So go to tryarmra.com
slash realfoodology. That is T-R-Y-A-R-M-R-A.com slash realfoodology, or simply enter code
realfoodology, and you're going to get 15% off. Again, that's tryarmra.com
slash realfoodology. Armra is A-R-M-R-A. Okay, I really like this question. Thoughts on all
the accounts out there giving bad nutrition advice. They make me really upset. I want to
ask these creators, who do they think that they're helping? Because there's this weird thing
happening right now with registered dietitians, not all of them. I know a lot of registered
dietitians that listen to this podcast and I see you and I love you and I think you're doing
amazing. So this is not a diss to all registered dietitians, but there is a weird movement happening
online right now of specific registered dietitians that are giving bad nutrition advice. They just are.
I had an RD recently stitch one of my videos and come after me. It was a video that was sharing
about a recent study that just came out that processed foods are linked to almost every single
chronic health issue that we are dealing with right now. You name it, processed foods are linked to it. Insomnia, diabetes,
cardiovascular disease, obesity, cancer, like the list goes on. And I did a video about this
stating what were processed foods. And we were listing out all of the different packaged foods
that would be considered processed foods. And she did a stitch and she fought back and she said, what are we supposed
to eat? I was flabbergasted. I don't even know the last time that I've used that word. That's
how shocked I was by this video. This is a registered dietitian. This is somebody who
people are supposed to come to for health and nutrition advice. People come to registered
dietitians when they are really sick, when they are chronically ill, when they are looking for
answers that nobody else has been able to help them out with.
And this person is saying that she doesn't know
what's left to eat if we take processed foods off the table.
How about real food?
Food that we've been eating since the dawn of time.
And then she tried to say that baby carrots are processed.
I just wanna know, who is this information helping? I truly wanna know, who is this information helping I truly want to know who is this
information helping all it's doing is confusing people yes baby carrots would be considered
processing there's a huge massive difference between baby carrots that were cut and uh like
scraped down and made little versus oreos because baby carrots still only have one ingredient.
Oreos have, I don't even know how many ingredients, but half of them are not even considered real
food. I would say even more than half of them. Oreos are not food. Carrots are food. So why are
we confusing people so much? And why do we have to get so into this nitty gritty? And why does
it have to be a fight? I just want to know who these
people actually think that they're helping. So to answer your question, it makes me incredibly mad.
It makes me really sad too, because we have a massive obesity epidemic. People are sicker than
ever. Our population has never been this sick. And I just, I want to see people thrive. And I know
that everybody at the end of the day wants to do
well. I know that everybody wants their family to be well. They want to feed their children
healthy. Everybody wants to be healthy and we are making it so incredibly hard. And I don't know why
RDs are fighting us so hard. And this notion that eating healthy, real foods is going to create an
eating disorder. But what about these hyper processed, highly palatable food-like products that are not real food that have been designed,
they've been scientifically designed to be overeaten. We know that people are overeating
these highly processed foods. We know that they are addicted to these foods. We know that these
foods turn on, they light up certain parts of your brain, the same parts of
your brain that are lit up when you are addicted to something. So why are we not talking about this
and trying to help people steer them into eating healthier foods? Why are we now labeling that
eating whole real foods and eating a healthy diet is an eating disorder? I mean, it's just,
it's absolutely asinine to me. I don't understand. Like, don't we all want to be well?
Don't we all want to be a healthy weight?
Don't we want to have energy to live our lives
and to show up for our jobs and show up for our kids
and to live long enough to be,
hopefully to be able to see our grandkids
and maybe even our great grandkids?
Like, I just don't understand why there's a fight
and why we have to be so concerned
about healthy eating becoming an eating disorder.
Like, do these people not realize that these hyper palatable food like products have a massive
funding behind them? I mean, this whole narrative that we're getting from them that eating healthy
food is now considered an eating disorder is it's coming from these big food companies that don't
want to lose money. They don't want to lose all their customers because guess what? They make a
lot of money off of people being addicted to those food-like products because they are incredibly
addictive. So people are buying more and more and eating more and more of them. And it's a massive
business. And guys, like overeating is also an eating disorder. And many people are
overeating and binging these food like products. I mean, I can't tell you guys how many times I've
been around a bag of Doritos, like at a Super Bowl party or something. And I have one bite and I
cannot stop eating them. It's why I don't buy those foods. I don't bring them into my home.
I don't eat them because I know that the second I start, I mean, it's literally with Pringles. It's in their tagline.
Once you pop, you can't stop, but nobody's binging on salmon. Now look, and I'm not saying that you
need to live this perfect lifestyle and never have a chip. But what I am saying is buy the
healthier versions of the chips that don't have all these additives that are designed to make you addicted. Buy the
healthier chips, eat a normal amount of them when you feel full and satisfied and live your life
too. But I just, I don't know, I really don't understand how we've gotten to this place where
eating healthy is now considered fringe and we're attacking people online for trying to help
people to eat real food and trying to get healthy. And we're calling it eating disorders. It's just
crazy to me and it makes me really sad. Okay. I've been getting a lot of questions about
Hector's psoriasis. Somebody asked, how did the peptides go for Hector's psoriasis? Which peptides
did he try? And then another one was, I'd love to hear more about Hector's psoriasis journey and advice on how to create a treatment plan. So I'm alongside him on this journey. I have never
myself dealt with psoriasis. I had a bout of eczema when I was younger. It was under my eyes
and then I had this strange, I don't remember what it's actually called, but this certain type
of eczema that was under my scalp for years.
And that all 100% went away when I stopped eating gluten and when I started eating whole real foods and not really eating packaged foods anymore.
It just went away and never came back.
So the psoriasis journey has been really interesting because I've done a lot.
And if you guys want to see the whole journey, I've been
sharing it on my Instagram stories and I have a highlight. But what I started doing with Hector
is we got rid of, he was using, this boy was using Tide Pods. So we got rid of the Tide Pods. We got
rid of the dryer sheets. I put a filter on his shower and I helped him clean up his diet. Now,
all of this, by the way, guys, it sounds like I'm forcing this on him.
He has been very excited and willing because he will do absolutely anything to get rid
of his psoriasis.
He hates it.
So he is, I'm not forcing him to do any of this.
He's a very willing participant and he's excited and he feels a lot better too.
So we've cleaned up his diet, taken gluten out.
We've been doing all this different stuff and nothing really budged. We got a GI map done, found that he had really high H. pylori and a
couple of other pathogens in there. So we've been on this journey of trying to clean up his gut,
trying to get rid of the H. pylori, which has been really tough, actually still working on that.
And somebody suggested that we get him BPC one five seven. So he's also been starting that,
which is a peptide. It helps with inflammation and autoimmune disorders. Now we've been seeing a little bit of a shift, but not enough to fully
move the needle. So I will keep you guys continued and updated. His H. pylori, interestingly enough,
got worse after we started addressing it. And I'm trying to find this text message from my
practitioner friend right now. She said, interesting that the test got worse. It makes me think that there's biofilms and more
coming out. So as we've started addressing all these pathogens, they've just been fighting back
harder. So TBD, I'm going to keep you guys updated. That's the only update I have so far.
I'm hoping when we move in together and I'm cooking all of our meals that hopefully that will do some shift for him
and then I'm going to continue helping him
figure out the H. pylori and all of that
I just connected him with one of my doctors
that I've been working with for like eight years
and we're hoping to address it even further
so I'll keep you guys updated
that's all I have so far though
and if you're dealing with psoriasis
my heart goes out to you
because yeah it's a it's definitely a puzzle piece and it's a crazy journey because not everyone's looks the
same. Like I know people that cut out gluten and it was gone. I know people that cut out
the synthetic fragrances and the stuff like the Tide Pods and the dryer sheets and it was gone and
filtering their water. So it looks different for everyone. And the thing about psoriasis is that it's a symptom
that your body is trying to tell you that something is going on, like something is off.
And it's your responsibility to put the puzzle pieces together and figure it out.
And we just haven't figured out exactly what it is that's causing that inflammation in Hector yet.
But if you're still dealing with this, I would encourage you to keep going. You will figure it out eventually. Just get a really good doctor. And it's like an onion,
you know, it's like you peel back the layers. And as you peel back the layers,
you see that there's more and you just got to keep peeling back until you eventually figure it out.
Did you know that magnesium is responsible for over 600 different biochemical reactions in the
body? It promotes healthy sleep, so it can help you fall sleep faster, stay asleep longer, and have more peaceful nights. It also supports stress management,
can boost energy and mood while also promoting relaxation and mental clearness. It supports
muscle recovery and cramps, helps build strong bones, promotes healthy blood pressure and normal
heart rhythms. So magnesium is incredibly important and most people are actually deficient in it.
The magnesium supplement that I really love
that actually my doctor told me to take initially
and I've now been taking it for years
is BiOptimizer's Magnesium Breakthrough.
The reason why I really like it
is there's no other supplement on the market
that offers all seven types of magnesium in one bottle.
And not only does it contain all seven forms of it,
it also has cofactor ingredients
that multiply the delivery of magnesium
to every cell in your body
and helps it absorb it at a very high rate.
Not all formulas do this.
It's also all natural.
There's no synthetic additives or preservatives.
And it's actually the number one selling product
and it's sold out multiple
times. I can't tell you guys how many times I've gone to the website and gone to re-up my magnesium
and it's sold out. So I always buy it in like a three pack to just make sure that I have enough
because it sells so well. You guys keep selling it out, which is a great thing. And I really love
it. I've been taking it for years. I take it before bed and it really does help with my overall sleep
and stress and anxiety management. So if you want to feel more energized and get the best night's taking it for years. I take it before bed and it really does help with my overall sleep and
stress and anxiety management. So if you want to feel more energized and get the best night's sleep

Okay. I'm going to close out this episode with one final question. I really like this question.
What are your thoughts on Ozempic? So I think Ozempic is very nuanced and I have a lot to say about this. So first and foremost,
I changed my opinion a little bit on it when I started talking to my friend, Dr. Tina.
I highly recommend checking out her podcast. She has done several episodes now on Ozempic and
she's really gone into the data about this. Now, the thing
about Ozempic is that it is a peptide that our bodies naturally produce. It's called GLP-1.
From what I understand with Dr. Tina, the reason why people are having really crazy side effects
with Ozempic is they are being overdosed. They are getting an injector pin from their doctors,
which is coming from the major producers of these
peptides, one of them being Ozempic. And it's a standard dose that they're giving to every single
person. And you can't control the dose because the pen just does the same dose every time.
So apparently people are overdosing on Ozempic and that's where you're seeing the stomach paralysis
and all of the other issues, the really high nausea that everybody's dealing with.
Now, let me be very clear.
I'm not saying that I'm like fully supporting Ozempic, but I think it's very nuanced.
We have a crisis on our hands, and I don't think a lot of people really, really understand the gravity of how sick our population is right now.
I mentioned this earlier, only about 8%, and it actually might now be down to 7%
of our population is metabolically healthy. That means that 93% of Americans are metabolically
unhealthy. That is horrifying. We're seeing rates of obesity like we have never seen in this country
and it's causing higher rates of cancer, higher rates of cardiovascular disease, diabetes.
With obesity comes your risk for pretty much every single chronic disorder. Basically anything
that you can think of is connected to obesity in one way or the other. And it's really bad. It is,
it's really bad. And we've gotten to this place where for some people, this may be their only hope to save their life.
So when it comes to a situation like that, I think it's needed.
And I think it could be life-saving for someone, especially when they are that obese and their leptin and ghrelin, their hunger cue hormones are completely out of whack.
It is so incredibly hard to turn that around without some sort of intervention. And when you look at something like GLP-1, if it's used correctly
and the right dosing, it actually can be really beneficial. So again, I said this earlier,
your body actually produces GLP-1. And what Dr. Tina is talking about in her podcast is she is
a proponent for getting GLP-1 from a compounding pharmacy, meaning that you can
control the dose. You can get a really, really small dose and see how your body responds to it.
Not to mention compounding pharmacies, you can just get the isolated peptide without all the
other junk that could possibly be in something like Ozempic. So I think it's incredibly nuanced.
And I think that with this health crisis that
we're dealing with right now, that it could be life-saving for some people that they may not
have any other options. Now, I think it's incredibly concerning that people are going
on Ozempic to lose five, 10 pounds when somebody is already thin and they're just wanting to get
skinnier or if they have never tried any sort of lifestyle or diet change and they just want a quick fix,
I am not a proponent for that.
I am the complete opposite of that.
I am not in support of this at all.
And my concern with Ozempic
is that everybody's just gonna go on it and lose weight
and not address the actual issue,
which is the diet, the diet and lifestyle.
If we are not addressing the foods
that you're putting in your body
and the lifestyle that you live putting in your body and the
lifestyle that you live, so getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, getting enough exercise on
a daily basis, getting out in the sunlight, really taking care of yourself. And if we're not
emphasizing these lifestyle changes and just putting people on a drug, you're essentially just
putting fuel on the fire because they may be losing the weight, but if they are continuing
to eat the same foods that got them there in the first place, yeah, they may lose weight, but they're going to
eventually develop other chronic diseases because they are still putting that fuel on that fire with
the processed, hyper-processed, highly palatable food like products. And it's going to do a
disservice to people. So, and look, I mean, everybody knows the term skinny fat,
right? Like somebody can be really thin and have an absolute horrible diet. And then we look at
their percentage of body fat. And if it's really high, even though they're still skinny,
that's going to propose other health issues. So I, like I said, it's very nuanced. I think
in the right situation, it could be life-saving.
And I also think that there needs to be more education around this.
And I think Dr. Tina does a great job of educating.
So I highly recommend going and checking out her podcast and just diving more into the
research of that.
All right, guys, that is all that I have for you today.
