Regina Swarn Audio Series Presents - One Visit Changed My Life And Brought Me Back To Church

Episode Date: October 29, 2025

Fan MailA name sits on your heart. Do you keep scrolling—or do you show up? We share a personal story about leaving church for months, feeling judged from a distance, and then hearing a gentle knock... that changed everything. One woman looked past appearances, called us beautiful, and said the words that made the way back feel possible: come sit with me, I’ll hold your hand. That moment became a blueprint for care that any of us can follow.Across this conversation, we unpack the gap between intention and action. “I thought of you” is kind, but it doesn’t bridge distance the way a visit, a call, or a handwritten note does. We talk about soft entry points that make return less scary—midweek study, smaller gatherings, a saved seat—so people don’t feel they must be perfect to belong. Along the way, we honor leaders who pursue people with patience and persistence, modeling love that walks, writes, and remembers. This is a guide for faith communities, families, and friends who want to turn compassion into practice and replace silence with presence. If you’ve noticed someone missing from your pew, your group chat, or your daily life, this is your cue. Make a short list, send one message, plan one visit, and hold space without judgment. Your small act might be the hand someone needs to cross a difficult room. If the story moves you, share it with a friend, subscribe for more conversations like this, and leave a review to help others find the show. I'm Regina Sworn. This is another bonus episode.
Starting point is 00:01:17 A Virginia Sworn Audio Series presents. This episode, I want to just speak very, very briefly because I have a panel of guests that's coming on later in this season to talk about this how you should visit those that you haven't talked to in a long time. if you haven't seen someone at church, not just at church, but if you haven't talked to somebody in a very, very long time, it's important to check on a person so often. Even if a person goes to your church and they've missed a couple Sundays and you haven't seen them there, I want to do a show about how important it is to check upon a person. because something happened in my younger years when we first joined the church, the AB Jackson's church, years and years ago.
Starting point is 00:02:21 My sister, the two of us, at one point we left the church. And we were gone for some months. And it took just this one woman, her name was. Denise Morgan. I would never, ever forget her. It took her dropping by our house, visiting us, where other people were judging the way we were looking. She said, you're pretty. You look good. You know, we don't have a lipstick and, you know, you can imagine all the hair hanging in a little skirts and the little shorts. She didn't, she looked past that. She said, you're beautiful. Why don't you come on back to church? She said, I'll hold your hand.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Well, I want to talk about that lady, that woman, that amazing person that got me back in the church because it was nothing that happened at the church. The pastor, Mother A.B. Texas is a great leader, always, always a great leader. But we had strayed, and sometimes you see other members, and we saw other members at the time that we had on our little short shirts and things and people were making fun you know and so it just took that one woman to come and say hey Jesus still loves you he loves you and each time she said she was inviting me back to church inviting me back saying coming back you know god loves you loves you come back and eventually one day I did I went to uh I think it was Bible
Starting point is 00:04:07 study or something. I didn't want to go on her overnight. Well, there's a lot of people say I want in Bible study. And she sat right next to me. She had all my hands because I was so nervous. But the pastor, Prophet, and Mother A.B. Jackson was so glad to see me walk through those doors. She was a, when I said she was a leader, over-leader, she was a greatest leader I've ever known. And sometimes when you're out, it just take that one person to come through. and just encourage you. And a lot of times people haven't been to church in a couple of weeks, or you haven't seen them in a while.
Starting point is 00:04:45 And people, and just hurt my heart so bad when people say, I thought of you today right in my city now. Come through my city, come through my town and say, I thought about you today. I'm praying for you or whatever. Never reaching out, though. If the Lord laid a person on your heart, there is a reason for that.
Starting point is 00:05:06 if he lay that person strongly on your heart and I learned this through prophetess by the A.B. Jackson because when that woman, when God laid somebody on her heart, she would call if she couldn't call them. She would ask around, how could I reach them? She would write them. She would get in touch with that person because that person was on her heart. And that's the kind of love that we need. not to just think about our houses, our safe houses. We're fine.
Starting point is 00:05:39 My friends, they're fine. You got those out there who have strayed a little bit. And maybe all they're looking for is someone that care. And if you haven't seen again someone, because this happened a lot of times, I have a lot of places that didn't leave, I just wasn't in church. And people would say, oh, I thought of you today. I was in your town. I thought of you today.
Starting point is 00:06:04 And I'm thinking of myself, wow. You're in a town. You could have stopped by. You could have called and say, hey, I'm in town. I would have said, come on, bye. Come on, pray with me. So that's the type of show that I'm getting ready to do. I think it fits perfectly in this month of depression, breast cancer. I mean, it's about checking on people because we don't know how they're doing out there. We don't know. So it's good to check on a person. It's good to call them. I tell family, members, friends, call your friends. Call them, see how they're doing. I try to call people. I try to call and check up on them and see how they're doing because you don't know how they're doing. It's not always about me, me, me, me, you, you.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Maybe me, me, me, and you, you, you need to call around and see how people are doing sometimes. Because we don't know how people are really doing inside with the depression thing. We don't know that. We don't know. So if God lays somebody on your heart, then by all means, do it whatever you can to reach that person, to call that person. It's good to call their name out in prayer. It's good. I know we've got to be led by God, but if God is putting somebody on your heart, there's a reason for that.
Starting point is 00:07:31 and I guess that's why I miss Mother Jackson so much because there are so many times I'm like, God, you know what's going on. I'm a private person. I'm not going to post my business and stuff on Facebook. I'm not going to do that. And it can be inwardly things that's going on and you're trying to deal with them and bang, bang, bang so much. but when people care that means a lot okay that concludes
