Regina Swarn Audio Series Presents - What Would You Trade For Success
Episode Date: October 11, 2026Fan MailA shiny opportunity can still be a trap, especially when it comes wrapped in paperwork and promises. We start with a deep breath and gratitude, then I get real about how my independent podcast... life began after radio, why my sister Lora’s encouragement matters so much, and why I’m thankful for slow, steady growth that keeps me free.I also clear up a practical detail for listeners searching around: you can find my current show on iHeartRadio, Amazon, Buzzsprout, and more, but not on Spotify. Spotify still has an older recording, and I don’t want anyone landing in the wrong place when the podcast is fresh and moving forward. From there, I share lessons from the music industry that apply to every creator. Lora and I had chances to sign with major record labels, and we also met people eager to lock us into “ridiculous contracts” that would have owned too much of our lives. With guidance from Mother A.B. Jackson and a whole lot of discernment, we learned that independence is not smallness. It’s freedom. If you’re an artist, podcaster, actor, or entrepreneur thinking about signing something major, I hope this gives you a clear-eyed way to pause, think, and protect what matters. We also look ahead to upcoming conversations I’m preparing, including domestic violence awareness, cancer awareness, health habits, my vegan story, and the return of rescue cats with Jerri Hays. Welcome to Regina Sworn Audio Series Presents, where I bring you stories of people from all walks of life.
I'm your host, Regina Sworn.
Contact me at Sworn Regina at gmail.com.
Now, let's take you into an episode of Regina Sworn Audio Series Presents.
Hello there, I'm Regina Swarn
I have to take a deep breath for a moment
Yeah, it feels good
To take a really deep breath
Really deep breath
You want to try that with me
Okay let's do it
One, two, three, go
Hmm
Mmm
This is another day that the Lord has made
And I will rejoice and be glad in it
Yay
Oh, thank God
for another day always. It's always thankful.
Just for the little things.
You know, welcome back again to my podcast.
Regina Saurin audio series presents.
This podcast officially started in 2017.
Right after my radio show, abruptly, it was gone.
And I was kind of tired of it, really, to be honest.
It was a situation where I really wasn't happy.
And, well, God knows all things.
I don't like to talk about people, so I don't talk about anybody.
But thank God, you know, for everything.
So, officially, my podcast started in 2017.
I was doing it just off and on, you know.
But it's in 2020.
that I cemented it.
Thanks to my sister Laura.
I know you've heard the story before.
She's always talking about her sister Laura.
I am.
Because had it not been for her,
I would have totally given up.
And sometimes, you know, it's weird.
We give up on things sometimes when,
sometimes when God is,
just getting ready to move in our lives.
We just throw in the towel.
And I was about to do that.
I was about to.
But thank God for the wisdom of my sister, Laura Ill sworn.
Yeah.
You know, people wonder why I say Laura Sworn instead of her married name?
because nobody knows her
Mary name.
Nobody know who that was.
Nobody knows,
I'm not going to say the name,
but nobody knew her with the name.
Everybody knows
Laura Sworn.
Laura Sworn.
So, that's why I always say
Laura Sworn.
You know, not no disrespect.
But Laura Sworn
is the name that everybody knows.
everybody knows
Regina and Laura
swearing
I mean I can use my
other name too
if I wanted to
my other name
I'm not even going to that
I can use that too if I wanted to
but
everybody knows Regina
sworn so
you know this podcast
I lift my hands up
because
it's an independent
podcast
very independent
I thank God
for
all that he has done
in my podcast
or for my podcast
I look at people
sometimes
and I'm like
they're
their
budding heads
like goats
you know
like sheep you
to get on
major platforms
and I'm thinking
like
I'm like
Chuff oh Lord
I just thank you
from my little podcast.
It's because it's
Jesus and me.
We got it all worked out.
And so
when I see people like
going head and head and head
and head with one another,
I'm like, wow, God, thank you so much
for, you know, opening
this door for me for my podcast.
I thank you for
blessing it.
as I said, it's a little small, independent podcast.
But the Lord has blessed it.
Oh, God, the favor, the unmarried favor
that the Lord has shown me is almost unbelievable.
And sometimes when I'm recording a podcast,
and I'm like, God, you're so good.
You're sweeter than the honey in the honeycomb.
He said, hear my pastor and mother,
AB Jackson say that all the time.
God is so sweet.
He's so good to me.
You know, I thank God for this, again,
I thank God for this independent podcast.
You can hear that I-Heart radio podcast.
Amazon, Buzzsprite, and so many other little bitty names you can hear it at.
It is not at Spotify, guys.
Please.
If you go to Spotify, you're going to hear the old podcast that I recorded.
You're going to hear the last one that I recorded over there about three years ago.
And it's still there.
And I'm trying to get rid of it, but somehow it's still there.
I need to just contact Spotify and say, guys, look,
can you please remove it?
You know, because I don't want people to go there when my podcast is fresh and new,
and this is the new thing I got going on.
So I want people to come here to this one.
So, yeah, I need to get on that A-step because sometimes people will go to Spotify,
very, very much go to Spotify and say, oh, I enjoy the podcast,
and what is he talking about?
The last one was talking about my dad.
And about Laura, of course, always.
And I'm like, guys, that is the wrong, you're in the wrong area.
But I'm happy to have my podcast on the I-Hart Radio podcast platform.
That's where it is, guys.
So if you're anywhere else, you're in the wrong place.
There's so much to unpack here today.
I'm not going to unpack it all.
But I just want to thank God.
I want to say be kind.
Can I start with be kind?
It caused nothing to be kind.
I was speaking to someone the other day.
And this guy, you can just absolutely tell that he was just wearing to get off the phone.
I was looking for some information on something about someone.
And I asked him for a little helping, you know, with the information.
I can just hear it in his voice that he just didn't want to be bothered.
I'm thinking to myself, oh Lord.
As much as you don't want to be bothered, sir,
that's the same way I feel about bothering you at all.
I don't want to.
Oh, God, I want to scream.
People.
People.
And I behold them, and I'm thinking of myself,
they don't know
what they're playing with
they don't know
with their own lives
what they're playing with
because you can look at someone else and say
they need some help
I can look at you and say
ooh god
you really need some help
seriously
I am I going to go there
that's going too far right
it's going too far yeah
let's get off to that
let's leave that one alone
But I want to thank God again for just that favor that he is showing my podcast.
It's totally unmarried dad.
Totally.
And the things that the Lord has done for me, did for me, and continues to do for me,
is totally beautiful.
Because I was thinking back when I was doing my radio show,
how I felt like I was in a box.
I really did.
I felt boxed in certain things I could do, certain things I could not do.
Oh, God.
I felt trapped in a situation that, oh, God, I can't even explain it.
All I know is I feel free now.
You know, you feel free when you're independent.
independent is freedom.
And I'm not looking to be tied down again with podcasts, with music, with radio, with nothing.
I'd rather be independent with 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 people than to be tied in, almost like in a prison for millions of people.
And my sister, Lord, when we were recording, you guys don't know this story.
We had the chance twice to sign on the dotted line.
We had the opportunity twice to sign a record deal with two very, very popular, distinguished record labels.
We had the chance to, we were about to sign twice, but I thank God.
Oh my Lord, thank you so much for prophetess Mother A, B, Jackson.
Oh, my Lord, I thank God for that woman.
Because had she not been in our lives, all the beautiful things that was laid out on the table for us,
all the traveling, all the promotion, all the clothes, and the money that we thought, you know,
All of these beautiful things were laid on the table right before our eyes.
And let me tell you guys.
Let me just say this.
Hey there, I'm Regina Sword.
I always leave my email in my podcast.
But now it's super easy to leave me a message through fan mail.
Just press the button and just type away.
That easy, guys.
So this message is included in every last line of my podcast.
Click fan mail.
Send me a message today of your favorite podcast.
Or if you'd just like to send an encouraging word or feedback, I am waiting.
Hit that fan mail and I'll get your message.
Thanks a bunch, guys.
All that glitter does not go.
So I thank the Lord that we have.
Mother A.B. Jackson in our lives during the time we were recording. Because today, if that same
opportunity was in front of me today, I wouldn't do it now because I know better, but if that same
opportunity was there, I would probably say, yeah, because we will offer it so much, you guys,
it was so much. All the promotion, me, 15, 20 years ago, there was no Facebook. I mean, there was
Facebook, but there was no, a lot of the stuff that's out there now, it wasn't there 20 years ago
when we had just, uh, did our music and was doing our music. All of that wasn't there then.
So it was, it was been so easy to sign on the dotted line. Very easy. But I do thank God
for that woman to God. She said, I see the devil. And boy,
when she said that cold chills was running through our bones.
We were so scared.
I mean, seriously, just scared, scared, scared.
So I do thank the Lord for Mother A.B. Jackson.
I thank God for her.
I do.
Because you can do so many things when you're independent.
So many.
if you're willing to work hard and build yourself up everything may not come right then
everything didn't come to me right then god has blessed me since then he's blessed me abundantly
but it wasn't overnight it wasn't an overnight success sensation it wasn't every night not at all
but it was hard work, persistence, persistence, or whatever.
It was hard work and just grinding, keeping at it, you know, and not giving up.
And in due season, as it is now, the Lord blessed it all.
And I'm so grateful that we have Mother Jackson in our lives.
I'm so happy for that.
Because how we not have Mother Jackson in our lives, we most definitely would have signed our lives away, pretty much.
Because one guy wants us to do a, this was ridiculous.
He took us out to eat.
Everything was great.
He had the paperwork.
He had his briefcase.
And we all had dinner.
I had a nice, expensive dinner.
And we sat down with him.
I'll never forget it.
And he was like, I want to sign you to a.
contract. Now, he was just going to be our manager.
And he started giving out all the things
he wanted from us.
And before we could chew our
food up properly,
we were like,
excuse me?
What?
I think God, that we had a sense
enough to see through him immediately.
And he thought
he called himself being smart
by we had an interview on the radio
the next day in Fort Valley.
He called himself trying to cancel
that. But see, we need,
the radio Dostrachis at the time. We knew all the radio people in Macon and Fort Belly and
Byron and Florida and all those places. We knew the radio announcers, all of them in Georgia.
We knew them. So he thought he could just block something and cancel that show. I'm going to cancel
that interview. Oh, he couldn't cancel anything. We went on and did that interview and we spoke
about him without calling his name.
See, people want to get you in these ridiculous contracts.
They're ridiculous guys.
Signing your life away.
You become a slave to that stuff.
A real slave.
But independence is the way to go.
Independent is the way to go.
Being independent, it is the way to go.
I'm going to tell anybody and everybody from the new artist
to the old artists, from the new actors to the old actors, from the whomever to the whomever.
I let them know, hey, look, is your life?
A lot of people want to be a big shot.
People like being big shots, you know?
I like staying low, meek, and humble.
I love being right at the feet of the Lord.
I like serving.
I like serving opposed to sitting down being the guests.
I too.
the kind of person I am.
And that's what God is looking for.
Service.
I don't think you caught that.
You probably didn't catch what I was saying.
Okay, okay, I get it.
But we had the opportunity to sign
labels several times,
two times for sure.
Big label.
And we could have gotten,
I mean, our name would have been way out there.
But I thank God that we settled for selling some thousands of records.
That was good enough for us.
I thank God for that.
Because to this day, even to this day, I got enough sense to, even with my podcast.
I'm not looking to blow up and be the Joe Rogan or be the Ryan Secrets.
Or I'm not even looking for that.
I like keeping it low, meek, and humble.
Humble. I like it that way.
I don't want to be some big star in the lights. I don't want that.
I'm a very private person. I don't like being out there in the lights.
I love my audio podcast. I love it because people can listen to it.
They can listen to it. They can go back and listen to it.
I've had parents, moms, and even dads that said, we are so thankful for your podcast,
swearing to your
gino. We're so happy for your
podcast because our kids
love to listen to your
voice. Your voice is
very calm
me. Calms the kids
down, you know? Like, really?
Really, really?
You serious? So I've had many
parents to tell me that, that your
voice is soft,
beautiful, sweet.
And the kids like listening
to you. And one
One parent, several parents tell me, say,
my kids, some take to everybody's voice.
Not everybody said, but when they hear you speak,
it's like they're hypnotized.
I hate using words like that, but I'm just saying, guys,
it makes me happy.
It makes me feel good.
So I thank God again for this independent podcast.
I'm just giving you guys,
few tips and filling out a few things out there to you out there who are thinking about are you on the
edge of signing something major um to each his own I guess you know just think about it I mean really really
really really think about it before you just jump into it because I know it's hard life is hard
life is hard at there you it's really hard I mean you you want to get your stuff
stuff out there. You really want that. And so, it's really, really tough at there. So,
sometimes you want to say, okay, I'm going to go and sign the contract. I'm going to sign it.
Sometimes I can be the worst thing you can do. So I just hope that I'm giving you some good tips today.
I want to talk a little bit about, I have a podcast that I'm going to do about domestic violence.
Ooh, that's really, ouch, that's touching.
Because I've heard of so many cases.
So many people who have lost their lives.
Oh, my God, so many people who have lost their life to domestic violence.
You know, someone can tell you that they love you in one breath and then punch you in your face and the other.
love and hate.
It's a thin line between love and hate.
That's what that means.
I've seen women beat into a pulp.
They call it love.
They call it love.
Things people go through just to say that they got a man
or they got a wife or a husband or whatever.
People would go through anything just to say they got somebody.
but you're bitter off by yourself
than to be with someone who's going to abuse you,
beat you,
talk to you like a, worse than a dog.
I can't even say talk to you like a dog
because some people talk to their dogs very nicely.
So I do have a podcast coming up.
Love doesn't hurt.
I forget, I think that's the name of it.
Anyways, I do have a podcast coming up
where I'm going to be speaking about domestic violence.
And hopefully, I guess and yes, coming up to you,
that's a topic that a lot of people don't want to talk about, believe it or not.
People don't like to talk about stuff like that.
But I'm going to be talking about it.
I'm going to be talking about it.
Yeah.
So be on the lookout for that.
Be on the lookout for it.
it's for domestic violence.
I'm going to also be
for upcoming.
When you see the poster, then you know it's very clear,
very near and dear.
It's on his way, guys.
When you see the poster?
Let me see the poster.
I'll be doing one also in breast cancer and cancer.
I throw all the cancers in there, you know, breast cancer,
cancer.
I had a friend,
dear friend of mine that died
a couple of months ago.
I love that lady so much, Evelyn Chapman.
She passed away.
She was my co-worker.
And she passed away of
stomach cancer.
She was a big time smoker,
but she had kind of stopped
by then the damage she's done.
So, I miss her
so much.
I really miss her a lot.
So I'm going to be talking about cancer.
It'll be one of these things that I talk about.
So be on the lookout for that.
Cancer awareness.
I'm looking at the window.
I thought it was raining.
Is it raining?
Oh, my God.
Is it?
I like rain, but, you know, sometimes if it's too much, I don't like it.
But I do like it overall.
But so be on the lookout for cancer awareness, not just breast cancer, but cancer.
awareness. It's one of the topics I'll be speaking on the next couple of months because we do
have Christmas and all that stuff coming up. So this is a very sad time of year for a lot of people.
You may be happy, you may be with your family, you may be got it going on. But there's somebody
on the other end over there who's living in their car who don't have a place to stay,
who's living on the street, who don't have anything, who don't have a roof over their head.
who don't have money to get food and things like that.
So there's somebody on that other end, whereas you're happy.
There's somebody on the other end who's miserably sad.
So this is a sad time of year, very sad time of year.
So what I choose to do around this time of year is visit a lot of the different shelters
and visit a lot of the different places where I speak and talk to people.
And that is a big time speaker.
I'm not a big time we're walking in.
I'm like, I'm all this and that.
No.
I go in there, might have my little guitar with me.
I have a friend with me because I don't like to go anywhere about myself.
It's not wise.
So I go and sing a song, tell my testimony,
talk to the different people out in the audience.
And it's not a big old audience.
It's probably a nursing home, you know, or a children's home or places like that.
Those are the places I like and thrive on the best.
I don't care about going somewhere, making a big name for myself.
Been there, done that.
I mean, back, what, 20 years ago, my sister and I, we was on Bobby Jones show,
and we did a lot of things that people would be like, wow, I've seen that.
You guys did all that.
What?
But that's because I don't make a big name of myself.
I don't talk about that.
You know, the things, sometimes people can be right beside me
and they don't even know of all the accomplishments that I got.
You know why they don't know?
Because I don't say a word about them.
I don't want them to know.
Because when I say to God be the glory, I mean that.
To God be the glory in my life.
It is what it is.
I'm not trying to be at her making a name for myself.
The name is already made.
The Lord is my shepherd.
That's who I lift up.
That's who I work for.
And that's who gets all of my glory and all of my praises.
So, thank you so much for joining me today for upcoming events that's happening.
For my podcast, Richard Schorant Audio Series Presents.
Oh boy, God is doing so much for that podcast.
He really is.
He's bloodstead.
And I want to stay humble.
I want to stay humble.
As he blesses it, as he continues to bless it,
I want to continue to stay low, meek, and humble.
Humble.
I pray hard that God keep me that way.
Because if people knew some of the successes I have,
people would be like, wow, you never said anything about it.
You don't say anything about it?
No, I don't.
I don't want to push myself out there like that.
God is the reason for everything in my life.
Any successes that I achieve along the way
or have achieved along the way.
The Lord gets to card it for that.
It's not Regina's sworn.
It's not Gina.
It's the Lord who gets to card it.
Not me, guys.
I want to make that very clear.
Nothing to do with me.
When I start making it about me,
then that's when your head is already way bigger than it should be.
And I pray often.
I say, God, you know my heart.
You know me?
I said, God, please.
Don't, don't let me get a big head.
Maybe my head is big naturally.
know, especially when I wear a ponytail. You can see my bigger head. But, you know, on a serious note,
I just want to stay humble because when you stay humble and you give God the praises,
if I be lifted up, I'll draw all men, the Lord is the one that's drawing all of these different
people from all around the world. And it's kind of scary to me at times. I'm like, oh God, look what you're doing.
in my life.
And I see it and I look at all the different things, how he's blessed me.
I can see it on the side.
And I'm like, oh, my God, you're blessing me.
You look at you.
And that's when sometimes people would get ahead bigger than they should and start thinking
to themselves, look at me, man.
I'm the best.
I'm the bum.
God, please don't let me get that way.
Please don't.
I pray hard, guys.
you don't know just how hard I pray for God to keep me humble.
I don't ever want to think I'm more than what I am ever.
You know, I try to dress down even in my clothing.
I like dressing modest.
I love dressing modest.
I don't care to show my bosom and all that.
I do have pictures sometimes I run across some pictures where my chest is out a little bit,
Morris, I say, hey, give me the turtleneck, please, give me, I want to be properly
trust.
And I know a lot of people say, you've got a pretty cute body, why do you hide it?
I hide it because I don't want all that detention, guys.
I do not want, nor do I need the attention.
That body behind those clothes belongs to my love, the love of my life.
My man.
It's not for the world
You know
I want to stay
modest
And dress modest
And look modest
And act modest
And I don't mind that
I don't have to show my body
Just because there's a pretty body
I have a cute body yet too
I really do
I'm not bragging
But you know
It's because I've taken care of myself
Over the years
You know when people
People find out my age, like, you're lying.
They're like, you're lying.
People really say that to me.
Because I've taken care of myself over the years.
Great care of myself.
You know, it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm vegan.
Nothing to do with that.
I prefer to drink water, water,
instead of drinking soda, soda, sodas.
You know, they're just so.
many things that I do.
That's another podcast I'm going to do.
I'm going to talk about health.
And I go listen to some of my older podcast from a couple of years ago.
I was speaking on health, you know.
When you take care of your body when you're younger, when you get older, listen to this
young ladies out there.
Guys, too, please listen.
When you take care of your body, when you are younger, when you take care of it,
When you get older there, you look pretty nice.
You still look good.
You won't look all washed up and beat up and chewed up and all that.
I look at a few people now and I say, oh, she looks pretty nice.
She must have taken care of herself.
Tony Braxton, for instance, she got a nice look to be her age.
We're around about the same age.
And so when I see her, I'm like, oh, right, she looks pretty nice.
nice. Chili from TLC, she looks really nice. You know, older, but looks nice. You know, you can tell when people have
taken care of themselves, you know, when they were younger. You know, so Hallie Barry. These are just
people that I know that has taken pretty good care of their selves, obviously when they're, we're
around about the same age, and they still look really nice. Older, but very nice.
So you're not going to ever look like you were.
If you're 60, you're not going to look like you were when you were 20, 25.
You're not going to look like that.
But it doesn't mean that you have to look all chewed up and beat up if you take care of yourself.
So that's going to be another upcoming podcast that I'm going to speak about,
Let me speak about vegan, why I became vegan.
It was nothing personal against nobody else.
I don't go around with a tag on my back saying I'm vegan.
I don't do that.
I really don't.
But I'm going to make a podcast about it because a lot of people have asked me about that.
And I think I need to talk about it.
I don't mind talking about stuff when I think it's going to help people.
So that's going to be a podcast too.
And last but not least, I got so many upcoming podcasts.
You guys know there's the rescue cats.
Yay, they're coming back.
I'm going to be back on location with Jerry Hayes.
Talking about this little kitty, kitty kitty.
Meow!
Yeah, you know, I adopted several of my cats from rescue cats in Fayetteville, Georgia.
So I'm going to bring Jerry Hayes back on, and we're going to talk,
and you guys seem to really love the conversation I had with Jerry.
So I'm going to bring her back on.
Yay.
Jerry would be back.
I'll be back on location with her.
I love going up to Pat Smart and doing my interview with Jerry.
I love it so much.
We have so much fun.
We really do.
I told her before, I said, we need to just start a bike because we're one on the side.
maybe twice a month or something where we're just talking about the cats, you know?
Because what Jerry is doing and what she has done over the years is just outstanding.
I mean, she has a love and passion for those animals.
Love it a passion, and I love that about her.
I met her back in, when was it, 2000, 2004 or five, one of the other.
and I was working at the private school at the time
and so I met her at that time
that's where I got my cat Moni.
You guys remember Moni, right?
Moni, mooney.
So that's where I got Moni from
and a couple of my other cats.
Panther, girl, girl,
you know, so, and now the famous,
well-known, famous Braxton.
So anyways, thank you for joining me
today for Regina Swine Audio Series presents.
Again, I'm so thankful to God for what he, you know, when I look at the numbers and when I
think about what the Lord did in July, oh, my God, you're so good.
But when I do look at that and I see how God has blessed my podcast, and I'm like, wow, Lord,
that was nobody but you
nobody but you
see god can bless you
without you going out there selling your soul to the world
a lot of people think that's the way to go
that's not the way to go
but if you want quick success
then you do what you want to do
but I thank God for just waiting on the Lord
letting him just elevate me
to the status that he has me now
and I'm still growing.
I'm still growing.
I thank the Lord.
And I thank you all.
