Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1024 His Face Looked Like A Chimp

Episode Date: January 20, 2024

Carrie writes "Hi Wes! Your show is amazing, I have listened to every episode and when I'm done, I start all over again. I want to tell you my story. I grew up in Eagle Creek, Oregon, that is between ...Sandy and Estacada. This encounter took place at our home back in 1970, I was 11 years old. This happened on a summers' evening, it was dark at the time and my mom wanted to go visit her sister, my Aunt. She lived 1/2 of a mile from our place. My brother Tim and I wanted to go with and visit our cousins so we piled in the back of the truck. We were old enough to sit on the sides and that is where I sat, between the tailgate and wheel well. My brother sat across from me on the wheel well. My mom was backing up to get on the main road, mind you, this is out in the country where there were no street lights. She continued backing up and got to the road, but she went farther than usual and almost went into the driveway of the neighbors' across from ours. It was a long driveway and they had bushy-like trees close to the road. As my mom went partially onto their driveway, stopped to put the truck in gear, I saw this huge figure standing right next to that bushy tree. It was very tall, it was white or silver and he was lit up in red from the brake lights. That electrical wave of adrenaline, or whatever you want to call it, went rushing from my lower torso to my head. Time stood still and I could not breathe! Sitting on the side of the truck like I was, put me almost to it's eye level, he was a bit taller than I was. His face looked like a chimps face only so much bigger. His eyes were dark, no whites did I see. They looked so spooky. His face did not have any hair and his mouth was wide like a chimps' and he was like snarling at me. I did see his teeth and they were fang-like. He looked angry and I was so afraid! But I could not break my stare, nor did he. I figure I was approximately 10 feet from him, way too close. I could not breathe, I could not think, like I said earlier, time stood still. I suddenly felt the truck being put into gear and it broke that trance I was in. I remember breaking my stare and I lurched forward, falling purposely onto the bed of the truck as mom drove away, trying to lay as flat as I could so it wouldn't see me anymore. I never said a word to anyone, never talked about it, I buried it deep inside some recess of my mind and it has been hidden safely until about 3 weeks ago. I do not know why that nightmare surfaced, but it did and I told my encounter to one of my nieces I was spending time with. I relived it all over again and it was just as scary telling her, as when it happened."   OUTRO SONG: Sarah McLeod - We've Got Tonight (Bob Seger cover) https://youtu.be/pb1OH1ahBXg?si=XJ8U1vLgoRcHFK40

Starting point is 00:00:00 On a late November night in 2012, while driving in the foothills of Washington, two brothers were surrounded by mysterious creatures. Still haunted and forever changed, these men took to the internet, creating a forum for others. If you've had an encounter and no one else can help, maybe you can contact Sasquatch Chronicles. It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blinding. It either heard me or smelled me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up and that shocked me. They don't make people that big.
Starting point is 00:00:58 The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything move like that in my life. They were screaming at each other in gibberish. It sounded like a language, and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forward. I know what a bear looks like, and there is no way on this planet that what I saw bears. And what are you reporting? See him. Hello?
Starting point is 00:01:51 Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? That son of a bitch is about six foot nine, I don't know. Do you see him now, sir? Yes, I'm looking right in any. This is John from Ontario, Canada, and you're listening to you. to Sasquatch Chronicles. Welcome to the show, everyone.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Thanks for being here tonight. Got a great show plan for you. We'll be chatting with Carrie. And Carrie comes to us from Oregon. And 53, 54 years earlier, she had an encounter out there in the Esticada Sandy area. We're going back to 1970
Starting point is 00:03:03 when she was about 11 years old. But she wasn't the only one to see. it on this property, I'll kind of like Carrie go into it. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at saskwatchchronicles.com, and if you get a chance to check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com, you can become a member and get additional shows. Let's jump into it tonight. I want to welcome Carrie to the show. Carrie, Thank you so much for being here. Well, thank you, Wes.
Starting point is 00:03:39 I'm really glad to be here. I know your encounter happened back in 1970. You were about 11 years old, and this takes place in Oregon. If you would, take me back to when you were 11 years old, kind of what were you doing and walk me into what happened? Well, that was 54 years ago. and it doesn't matter how many years go by when you have an encounter. You never forget it.
Starting point is 00:04:12 I was 11 years old and my mom, it was a summer's evening and my mom wanted to go visit her sister. She lived about a half a mile from where we lived and where my brother and I grew up. So we wanted to go with her. so we piled up into the back of the pickup. We were old enough to where we could ride on the side of the pickup truck. And it was really cool when we got to that age to be able to do it because we felt so big and special. My brother Tim sat across from me on the wheel well.
Starting point is 00:04:54 I sat on the railing of the back of the pickup. I was holding on to the tailgate with one hand. and my other hand was hanging onto the side of the track. So my mom backs up and she's going slow and blah-di-da-da-da. We, I don't know why she went so slow, but she did. Anyway, we backed on to the road and right across from our driveway was one of our neighbor's driveway. and they kind of have these bushy trees really close to the road along the side of their driveway. And theirs went way back into the woods farther.
Starting point is 00:05:37 So my mom is backing up and she's got the headlights on and everything. So she kind of gets close to this driveway, but she keeps backing up. And she goes partially onto the driveway. she puts on the brake to put the trekking gear to go forward. Well, before she did that, as she put her foot on the brakes, I'm closest to this bushy tree, and I see this very large figure. It was either white or silver. He was taller than me.
Starting point is 00:06:27 But as I was sitting on the side of the truck, I kind of figured, wow, he's pretty tall at the time. But when I saw it, I got that adrenaline rush. It came from my lower extremities and went all the way through my body up to my head. I couldn't breathe time stood still and I looked into its face it was snarling at me his eyes were black
Starting point is 00:07:02 his body was lit up from the red break lights and I could not think speak I could do nothing but just stare at him I could not break my eyes from his. And I didn't know what to do.
Starting point is 00:07:28 So I just sat there. I didn't even think, Mom, hurry up, get the car in gear. Because it was the most horrendous, horrible creature I have ever seen in my life. It scared me so bad. I can see it as if it happened last night. You never forget it. I was so scared. When my mom put the truck into gear, it kind of brought me out of that stupor.
Starting point is 00:08:05 And I automatically flung myself to the bottom of the bed of the truck. And I laid as quiet as still and as low as I could because I did not want that creature to see me. I did not want that creature to get me. And my mom took off and I thought, hurry mom, go faster, faster, faster, get me away from this thing. My brother did not see it.
Starting point is 00:08:39 He was facing forward the whole time. I was the only one that thought I never said a word to anybody. It wasn't until about forward. weeks ago when I mentioned it to one of my nieces that I had spent some time with. So that is one of my stories. And that is the scariest story. Yeah, it is scary, especially when you're 11 years old, you know, 50-year-old men that are out there hunting run into something like this and they're terrified. And when you're 11, I can't even imagine the fear of sitting on the back of that truck
Starting point is 00:09:19 and just being terrified and not really knowing what it is. And I know we're in the Pacific Northwest, and there's kind of a lore and kind of a history of it. But, you know, it's not really the first place your mind goes when you see something like this. When you first saw the creature, how far away from you was he, do you think? I was approximately, because I was right there at the tailgate, I was about 10 feet from it.
Starting point is 00:09:52 That's really close. Very close. And the funny thing is, is reflecting on it now, what he reminded, and I know it was a male, I didn't feel any femininity from it or anything. I believe that it was a male. That cartoon, Rudolph the Red Nose Rinder, the Abominable, snowman that they have on that cartoon. That's what it reminded me of.
Starting point is 00:10:25 The white fur or else it's silver. I don't know, but it was very, very, very light. And it just reminded me of the abominable snowman. But his eyes were so dark and so black. And, you know, I thought, what did I do? What did I do to deserve to see? this creature, what did I do to make it snarl at me? Yeah, most eyewitnesses go through that, Carrie, that feeling of like, what did I do?
Starting point is 00:11:00 You know, why did I have to see this thing? And a lot of hunters who run into it, you know, it ruins things because most of the time, they'll never go out hunting again. I want to ask you, so your mom goes to start the truck, obviously puts her foot on the break and the brake lights come on. For someone who's never seen one, can you kind of describe what you remember as far as what you saw and what stood out to you? Yes.
Starting point is 00:11:31 You know how, like I was saying, I was staring at his eyes. I could not break away from his eyes. And he was staring at me. But you know how you kind of have that peripheral vision in, and, you know, you kind of have that peripheral vision in a wholeness and you can kind of see the hair and some of the face. He didn't have fur. It was hair. It was longer hair.
Starting point is 00:11:58 His face was, it reminded me of a chip, only extra large size. His mouth was really wide. And when he was snarling at me, his lips. were kind of turned up and I could see they were like canines almost he had more of a fang-like set of teeth I've heard on some of your shows
Starting point is 00:12:29 and some encounters that they have been known to have kind of flat teeth more like a human beings but not this guy his were more fang-like his face was flat his nose was was flat and wide, but his mouth was wide.
Starting point is 00:12:50 And there was no hair on his face. I couldn't tell you if it looked like leather or not. I just know that there was no hair on it. And it was basically his face is what I noticed the most. But he was so big. He was so large. His shoulders were very wide. At that age, I couldn't tell you how wide they were, but I know that they had to have been, you know, reflecting on it at least three, three, four feet wide.
Starting point is 00:13:31 And with me sitting on the back of the track like that, he was taller than me. And I was just way too close, way too close. His eyes did not reflect the light from the brake lights, but his fur sure did, or his hair, I should say. Scariest thing I ever saw. I have been afraid of the dark. Ever since then, I have been afraid of the woods. I love the camp, but I'm always kind of on edge, I guess, you know, kind of. Keeping an eye out or listening for anything, especially since I've been listening to your show.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I've gotten so much information, you know, about these things. But at 11 years old, first time ever seeing something like this, wow. I do not. I thought maybe I would like to see another one, but I don't think so. I think that did it for me. Yeah, and I know that might sound strange to some people, especially seeing this when you're a kid and he's sitting there snarling at you, but I always say, you know, most eyewitnesses, even who have scary encounters, I'll ask them, do you want to see it again?
Starting point is 00:15:04 and a lot of times they'll say yes. And then after thinking about it, they're like, maybe not. You know, maybe that was enough. And so, you know, the emotions you're going through, I think, are normal. One thing I want to ask you, so you're sitting in the back of the truck and you look up when the brake lights come on. Was he kind of back in the bushes? Yeah, he was set off of that driveway and standing right next to that tall bushy. type tree. And I think he snarled at me because I saw him. Yeah, I want to come back to him
Starting point is 00:15:43 snarling at you. But when you were looking at this saying, was there anything human like about it? There was nothing human about him. He, to me, looked more animals. Yeah, the reason why I asked you specifically that question, Carrie, um, I found. over interviewing thousands of eyewitnesses. What's fascinating about the teeth is you'll find when people describe them, their teeth looking very human-like. Some eyewitnesses will say like big block squares, like chicklets. Generally in those encounters, when they're describing the creature, they'll say it looked
Starting point is 00:16:27 very human-like. Obviously, it wasn't a human, but the appearance was very human-like. and when eyewitnesses will describe the teeth being more, you know, having the huge canines, and they'll talk about it being more animal-like, which I find fascinating that, you know, and I think that's why there's so much division in this subject, because some people will say, oh, what I saw looked very human like, and then you have someone who saw something that looked very much like a non-human primate, they'll be like, oh, that guy's crazy. But if you pay attention to eyewitnesses and how they're talking about the teeth that they see,
Starting point is 00:17:08 it's weird because, like I said, on one side of the coin, it's human-like. And on the other side of the coin, they'll be like, oh, there was nothing human about this. I wanted to ask you about the property before we talk about what happened to you four years later. But on this property, was there anything odd or strange going on prior to you seeing this creature? Sure. It was after, well, I guess it was during that time when I was 11, I guess it was, when I was eight, my dad, we lived just two houses down from the property. My dad bought the property and he built the house on it. So when we moved in onto that property, it wasn't long after that. And when my mom had mentioned that something really heavy went running past their bedroom window, and that was at the end of the house. And it happened more than once.
Starting point is 00:18:19 I think it happened quite a few times. I never heard it because my room wasn't close to theirs. But she said it was heavy. It sounded like a herd of horses coming through. running by. Never heard any vocals, never heard any yells or wood knocks
Starting point is 00:18:40 or anything like that. I mean, we could have just didn't recognize what it was. But it happened several times and mom said that she would jump out of bed and take a look out the window
Starting point is 00:18:56 but never saw anything. So that was kind of the weird thing that that happened for quite a few years. Yeah, that is strange. So it wasn't like one incident. No, no. It was, it was, oh gosh, you know, I don't know how many times,
Starting point is 00:19:18 but I know that my mom would always let us kids know when she heard it. And I used to sleep out in the front yard with my brother, Tim. He's two years younger than me. And after that incident, I never slept out in the yard again. I was not about to. We love doing that, and we'd lay there and look at the stars. But when you've got something like that way too close just across from your driveway, no, never did it again.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Yeah, who could blame you? I wouldn't have been out there either. And, you know, after encounters, there's a lot of weird behavior from people. Like, for example, you have a carload of people. They'll all witness a roadside crossing. Everyone freaks out. And then no one says a word for like the next two hours. And I don't know if it's shock that people are going through.
Starting point is 00:20:18 I wanted to ask you, though, why not tell your mom about what you'd seen? I'm not sure that she would have believed me. she might have. She would never say anything to hurt my feelings. She probably just would have given me a hug and said, okay, honey, it's going to be all right. You're fine. I never did talk to her about Bigfoot,
Starting point is 00:20:54 but I'm pretty sure that's what that was. Yeah, and I could kind of understand that. I mean, your encounter takes place three years after the Patterson Gimlin film comes out. And really, what are you supposed to say? You know, I saw a chimp in Oregon. I mean, it's so hard to, for an adult, it's hard to articulate that. And I can imagine being 11, it's even tougher. I know there was another incident that happened to you about four years later.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Tell me about that. You're about 15 at this time, correct? when I was 15, yes. Every fall my mom and dad and all of us would go hunting up in Hills Canyon, which is in eastern Oregon, go figure, right? And I didn't feel like going that year. And my mom and dad didn't want me to stay behind by myself. And I said, well, what if my girlfriend Lisa could come stay with me? And so they kind of talked about it and agreed.
Starting point is 00:22:02 And I said, well, lock the doors. We're not going to do anything. We're going to stay in the house. You don't have to worry. And I was a good kid, you know. We were raised right. And I wouldn't do anything, you know, that would upset my mom and dad. So they let me stay.
Starting point is 00:22:20 And that morning that they left, I forgot that evening, I forgot to shut. the chicken, the door on the chicken coop. And so I told Lisa, I says, I need to go shut the door on the chicken coop. Will you come with me? We had no flashlights. All we had was the candle, which didn't do anything. It just, we blew it out. But we walked all the way towards the back of our property there.
Starting point is 00:22:54 And I shut the door. And when after, I guess it was after I had shut the door, we were standing there talking and I was looking towards the corner of our property. There was a fence there and around our place. And there was this figure about 100 yards away from us standing there. and it was kind of lit up by the back porch light and I said Lisa who is that or what is that? And we couldn't tell because we didn't have a flashlight. I would have shown the flashlight on them, you know, if I had one. But she says, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:48 And I said, well, it looks awfully big and it was white. I could see just basically from the waist up because there were some bushes there and that's where it was standing because I checked the next day. Anyway, standing there talking about it and looking at it, all of a sudden I hear this stud at my feet and it was a rock. and it came from that direction. And I thought that was so weird, and it scared me. I said, run, Lisa, run to the house. And we started running, and I left her in the dust. So I'm running towards the house.
Starting point is 00:24:45 All of a sudden, I hear this gurgling sound. and a big thud behind me, and I screamed, and I turned around, and here's my friend Lisa on the ground. I thought it got her. I thought whatever that was followed us, chased us, and got her. Well, she didn't duck for the clothes line, and so she got it with the clothesline right across her throat, and it just flattened her down on the ground. And it was kind of a funny moment, but not so much because we were so scared. So I went and helped her up, and we got into the house,
Starting point is 00:25:34 and I left all the lights on, all the porch lights on. We locked the doors, closed the drapes, and we sat in the living room and scared. and scared to death and was so afraid that whatever or whoever that was was going to come mess with us. Because he was near our property. He was on the other side of the fence, but he was right on the corner. And we had two and a half acres. So. Yeah, I would have been terrified too.
Starting point is 00:26:11 I would have locked everything up and grabbed a gun and waited for it to come through the door. So I don't blame me one bit for running and being as scared as you were. I want to come back to the rock throwing part, but I wanted to ask you, you know, the first one that you saw was kind of a white or kind of a silver. And I know that you don't know and I don't know. But did you get the feeling like this might have been the same one that you saw when you were 11? Yes, I do. Yes. because it was white or silver.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Now, I don't know, you know, if they, when they age, if their fur turns gray, like as humans or not, or if they're more of an albino-type big foot, or if that's just the color hair that they're born with. It'd be interesting to know, you know. Yeah, that's a very interesting question, Carrie. And, you know, I don't have one in my garage that I'm studying, but I've had many eyewitnesses come forward and they'll describe kind of a white or kind of a silver or light gray type color. And the way they're describing the creature, it doesn't appear to be like an old creature. And you'll hear eyewitnesses describe, you know, everything from kind of a reddish-brown. to black, to kind of this white or light gray color or silver, as you put it. So I'm not so sure that, you know, if you see a white one that it's, you know, means it's an old creature.
Starting point is 00:27:57 But, you know, I could be wrong. Yeah, the one I saw in the tailgate light, it didn't look old. Yeah, I wanted to ask you when you look up and obviously, on those properties, those farms out there. Generally, there's lights, as you described. But how far away was this thing from you and your friend? From the chicken coop to where he was, he was at the max.
Starting point is 00:28:33 I'm not real good with measurements, but I would say the max, the max 100 yards, possibly 75 yards. Still too close, really, for something unknown and throwing rocks at you. You know, at this point, you're 15. Are you thinking back to when you were 11 and you saw that creature? Yes. I do have to admit that was one time that it came back.
Starting point is 00:29:09 fresh because I think it was the color it was, which was the white or the gray. And I thought this has got to be the same thing. This has got to be the same Bigfoot. At that time, I knew that was Bigfoot. At this time, did your family move off of the property or were you guys on this property for years after these incidences? Years after that, I moved away when I was 18, and there were a couple times I moved back home and had to stay there because trying to get started in life, you know, jobs weren't always available or, you know, mostly me. I was more on the lazy side and didn't want to get a job.
Starting point is 00:29:59 But that changed. But, yeah. My mom and dad lived there. Gosh, my dad passed away in 91, and that's when my mom moved away from there. She sold the house and moved to Damascus. So they stayed there for a long time afterwards. Makes me wonder if these creatures were living on the property or if they were just passing through. throughout the years, did your mom ever bring up any more weird things going on or that thing running past her window?
Starting point is 00:30:42 Was anything like that ever brought up after this? Yes, she did. She said that she still heard it every once in a while, every once in a while. And this, you know, my incident, when I was 11, what is that? 12, Highway 212 there, that was not, that highway wasn't built back then. So it was very quiet. And that was the nice thing. But you could sure tell a difference once that highway was put in because you could hear the traffic.
Starting point is 00:31:23 But I never did see it again. my niece saw two dark ones about four houses down, maybe an eighth of a mile from our house. And she saw them in the tree line. And she was 17 and she took off running for home. It scared her so bad. And I had never heard her talk about that until I told her my encounter. Yeah. And for anyone local, Highway 212 basically takes you from Clackamas to Boring, Oregon.
Starting point is 00:32:01 And that area, even though that highway went in, it's still pretty notorious for sightings, even up until this day. You know, when you get to Estaceta, Sandy, that area. I wanted to ask you about your niece. Was she staying on the property or you said she lived a few houses down? No, they lived only one house down from us. And they had a big house. So the place where she saw was a couple houses down. Mind you, this is the country and the people owned property back in the day, you know.
Starting point is 00:32:43 And so everybody had like big plots of property. And it was just an awesome place to. grow up. It's so beautiful out there. But it was about, you know, an eighth of a mile from her house or my house at the time where she saw those two. And she said their eyes were red and glowing. It was a little darker than dusk when she saw it. And they had stepped out from behind the tree line, kind of out into this little meadow. They didn't get far. She says, I know they saw me, but it scared her really bad, and she just hightedled
Starting point is 00:33:29 at home. She wasn't going to wait and see what they were going to do. Yeah, it makes me wonder. I mean, maybe they were living on that property. I mean, your mom describing something big running past her window, and not just one time, but it's happening multiple times. You have these two sightings over years. and now your niece is seeing them.
Starting point is 00:33:52 And it's fascinating about your niece talking about the glowing red eyes. And again, going back to division in the subject, some people see the glowing red eyes. It comes up a lot. Some people will see eyes shine, you know, traditional eyeshine. And sometimes people won't see anything like what you described them as being just black. And it really makes me wonder about, you know, if they were there all the time. You know, with your mom describing this saying running past her window multiple times, do you think your mom knew what it was? You know, what's funny about that, I'm not sure who started the name for it, but we always called it the Hoot Yard.
Starting point is 00:34:44 And it's a dorky name, but it became that thing. That name belonged to that thing that ran past their window at the end of the house. And as hard as she tried, she could never see it. And Daddy never saw it. And I really, really wish that I had talked to them about Bigfoot and discussed it with them. It's too late now, but I really am sorry that I never did. did let mom know about my encounter and talk to her about the possibility of it being a big foot. The Hoot Yard, I had a feeling that was Bigfoot. For some reason, I just didn't really
Starting point is 00:35:37 have a doubt in my mind. I believe that's what it was. Yeah, I'm curious. Why did everyone call the Hoot Yard? What was kind of the meaning behind that name? Um, the, the big thing, the big creature or the big, big, I think one of my nephews called it that for some reason. I don't know. I'm not sure. I'd have to ask the family members and find out. But we all just called it the Hoot Yard. Yeah, I understand what you're saying. You know, people will give these things names when they don't know what it is. you know, like Mountain Devil or Wild Man or even Hootiar, as your family called it. And, you know, I don't think that these creatures are alone. I think they're rarely ever alone.
Starting point is 00:36:36 If you see one, there's probably one nearby. And like your niece, your niece saw two of them. With everything going on, I know that you don't know and I don't know, but do you think these creatures were actually living on the property at that time? I think they were living in the woods really close to the property. And I think they just kind of made their rounds, you know, they're in the woods because, you know, like I said, that was before Highway 212 came in. And 212 goes all the way to Estacada. And I think that they're around there.
Starting point is 00:37:16 I really do. Yeah, I've had many... I remember. Or go ahead, Carrie. I'm sorry. I was just going to say, I remember listening to one of your shows about, I think, a middle-aged couple going for a walk. And they were there in Estaceta, and they had an encounter with one. Not sure what episode number it was, but, boy, my ears perked. when they said as to Cada.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Yeah, like I said, a lot comes out of that area. I want to go back to the rock throwing incident because, you know, for me, I think it's very strange behavior. And eyewitnesses will report it exactly like how you reported it, Carrie, where creatures are throwing rocks at them, and generally they land at, you know, right at people's feet. And if you were 20 feet away from me and he said, hey, take this. rock and have it land right in front of me on the ground, I can give it a go. I'm probably going to hit you, but I can give it a go. With these creatures, when they throw rocks, I mean, what are
Starting point is 00:38:28 these professional NFL quarterbacks? It's like they, it's so weird to me how eyewitnesses report time and time again. When rocks are being thrown at them, it lands right in front of them. and the accuracy makes me stop and go, hmm, that's kind of weird. I mean, and I know after many years of listening to the show and hearing other reports, does that seem odd to you that they're able to throw these rocks from a distance and it lands right at your feet?
Starting point is 00:38:58 That was very strange because I thought, what precision, how in the world could that thing, and I know the rock came, from there. How in the world could that thing throw a rock? It was probably the size of, maybe a little bit bigger than a golf ball. And how could it throw it at dark that far away not hit me and land at my feet in front of me without hitting me? Maybe that's what scared me the most and made me tell my friend run because I couldn't understand that.
Starting point is 00:39:50 That was so creepy to me. And it scared me because I guess that meant that it was something that is out of this world. No pun intended. Yeah. It fills that way at times for sure. and, you know, the rock-throwing behavior, I think, is aggressive behavior. Some people, like I said before, some people think it's playful. I don't like rock throwing at me, so I don't see it as playful.
Starting point is 00:40:22 But, you know, any other normal wildlife that's going to be aggressive with you, if you run, they're going to chase you. Why do you think that this creature didn't run you guys down the moment you guys took off? I think it was successful and its intentions. Because I had noticed it, and we were, then I told my friend, we're both looking at it, trying to, you know, studying it, trying to figure out what it is. And I think that he didn't like that. And I'm going to throw a rock at these two girls, and I'm going to scare him off. Well, it worked.
Starting point is 00:41:08 Yeah, I agree with you, Carrie. I think that most of their behavior is meant to scary. It's meant to make you go away. Sometimes when you look at it, you think, wow, this thing really wants to fight. I'm not so sure that they want to fight. I mean, we would lose anyway, but I'm not so sure that they want to fight. Most of it is like bully type behavior to make you leave. And you guys left.
Starting point is 00:41:35 And I'm curious, what was the conversation like with your friend after you guys got back to the house and kind of locked everything up. Yes. She couldn't figure out what that was, and we talked about it. And I said, Lisa, as big as it is, I think it's a big foot. And she says, what? And I said, yeah, I believe it's a big foot. I didn't tell her about my encounter even before that or after this incident.
Starting point is 00:42:09 I didn't talk to her about that. We just discussed what we had seen that night. And I'm not sure, you know, where she was as far as believing in Bigfoot. She's gone now also. But I know she remembers that night. If she were here, I'm sure she would remember that night. it throwing that rock, I didn't want to stick around to see what was going to happen next. Yeah, I would have been right there with you.
Starting point is 00:42:47 I wouldn't have wanted to find out what it was going to do next. But, you know, like I said, through interviewing so many eyewitnesses, I think the only time people get hurt is when they engage with them. Like if you had to pick that rock back up and thrown it back in its general direction, and there's many accounts where that kind of sets them off. Most of the time, if you turn around and leave, they'll leave you alone. And that's through eyewitness testimony, and my opinion, of course. But throwing rocks, it kind of reminds you of like chimp-like behavior.
Starting point is 00:43:21 And going back to what you saw when you were 11, you kind of described it as being kind of chimp-like. Yes, the face reminded me more of a chimp-like. because of the way its mouth was. It was wide like a chimp like that, almost like thin lips, you know, and the way it protruded from its face a little bit. It just reminded me of a chimp, but its fur reminded me of the abominable snowman off the cartoon. But its eyes were way too dark and black and scary, but I sure couldn't look away.
Starting point is 00:44:03 I think I was too afraid to. Yeah, I just interviewed a guy. He said basically the same thing you said. He was standing there. I think he was a 14 when it happened. And he said they're looking at this saying, and it's looking at him. And he couldn't look away. He said it wasn't until this creature actually took a step towards him that it kind of broke him out of a trance, as he calls it.
Starting point is 00:44:29 And he took off running. And I don't know if it's just a shock. of seeing this thing or, you know, what causes that, you know, the ability not to just turn around and run, you know, until something kind of wakes you up out of that moment. You know, after all of these years and listening to other people's encounters, I know this goes back many years when this happened to you, but you got a really good look at one of these creatures. And the second one, you know, you saw the size of it from a distance with it. a rock. I ask everyone on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is? And there's no wrong answer.
Starting point is 00:45:10 What do you think it is, Carrie? Kind of what's your take on what are these things? I apologize for my, my voice. It's gotten a little hoarse that time of year. I don't believe it's any type of spiritual creature. I believe is flesh and bones. I believe that they're dangerous. I believe that they do exist on this earth and that they're everywhere. I just don't see, you know, I guess there can be some human characteristics about them to throw a rock. That just seems kind of human to me because there's no other animal that does except maybe a chimp or a baboon or, you know, an ape or whatever. But I don't think they're a spiritual creature.
Starting point is 00:46:13 I don't think that they can disappear and reappear. I believe they blend in really well. But I think they're more flesh and blood. I really do. Yeah, and that's a fair answer, Kerry. So in your opinion, you think it's more animal than human? Yes, I think more animal than human. But like I said, you know, there could be listening to some of the encounters that people have come on and have talked about.
Starting point is 00:46:47 I think that there are some human characteristics. But I never observed any except for the rock throwing. and the intention to scare me and my friend off, which worked. Now, that takes some thinking, and that's kind of scary in its own. Yeah, you're right. It is scary, you know, to have that sort of thought process. And you know this as well as I do. Any predator or normal animal out there, you take off running and they're going to mow you down.
Starting point is 00:47:26 and this thing didn't. I mean, you find weird behavior, and you find small details in people's encounters, you know, like the eyes, for example. But I believe your niece with their glowing red eyes. The first time I heard that was from a hunter, well, not the first time I'd heard it. I think the first time I aired a show about that,
Starting point is 00:47:48 it was many years ago, and it was from a hunter who had been hunting longer than I'd been alive, and he's talking about these gloathe. glowing red eyes. And I remember I asked him, I said, you sure those eyes were glowing? You sure it wasn't, you know, normal eye shine? And I think I offended the guy because, you know, this guy's been hunting, again, longer than I've been alive. But it gets, you know, that sort of thing gets reported. And, you know, in your situation, you're seeing just black eyes. There's nothing there. And that gets reported as well. It's so hard to figure this thing out.
Starting point is 00:48:26 There's no life in their eyes, except with that one, he was angry. But his eyes were so black, it was like they were lifeless. Almost like how our shark's eyes turn when they smell blood in the water. Oh, man. Yeah, I wonder what set that creature off. I wonder if he was angry just because you saw him? That's what I'm wondering. That because I saw him and then we were really close or I was really close to it,
Starting point is 00:49:08 he probably didn't like that either. His little hiding spot was found. I don't know, but I'm sure glad he didn't knock me off the truck or grab me or hurt me in any way. Yeah, you and me bowl. I'm glad that he didn't harm you in any way. And both accounts are amazing accounts and then hearing about your niece and your mom. I know they aren't amazing accounts for you. It's terrifying.
Starting point is 00:49:38 And I understand that. But, you know, 53, 54 years later, I really appreciate you taking the time to come on and share what happened to you. I really enjoyed chatting with you, Carrie. Well, thank you, Wes. I appreciate being able to tell my story. You know, I don't care if anyone believes me or not. And I've heard other people on your show that says, I know what I saw and I know what it is.
Starting point is 00:50:12 And that's just the way that I feel. But I love your show. And I've learned a lot from other people's encounters. and just an amazing show. And I'm so glad. And I've got all kinds of stickers and stuff for Bigfoot. But I'm a believer. He's out there.
Starting point is 00:50:35 And people just need to be very careful and walk away when you can. Yeah. That's great advice, Carrie, for sure. And thank you again. Well, thank you, Wes. I greatly appreciate it. you have a really good night. And that's it for tonight, everyone.
