Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1061 The Bernie Chronicles
Episode Date: June 2, 2024Bernie writes "Wes, I'm seventy three years old now and live in the beautiful Texas hill country southwest of Austin. This is what happened fourteen years ago. It was my last night at work and I was c...losing up my department in Salmon Creek, at the north end of Vancouver, Washington. My best friend called and asked if I was flying out soon. She wanted me to come by, and said she had a twelve pack of Blue Moon. "Prettiest lady I know" I affirmed as I headed toward Battleground. We hung out for a couple hours. Her boyfriend had cheated on her and I listened to her broken heart with sympathy, and I tried to give her hope for the future. We said our hasta la vistas. I got back on I-5 north and got off at Woodland and headed up Lewis River Road. I had been living there for six weeks in a spare bedroom I was renting. It was a ways to my boss's property, on up past the fish hatchery, almost to Ariel where D.B. Cooper supposedly bailed out of that airliner, west of Mt. St. Helens. The moon was nearly full on that night of August 22, 2010, as I parked in my spot 30 feet from the forest, just off to my left. My window was down and I was listening to the radio. The Foo Fighters were playing "Times Like These." The tree frogs loudly approved and I popped open my last Blue Moon that Darcy sent home with me. I lit a cigarette, reflecting on our good times, how much I was going to miss her, and hoping our paths would meet again. Speaking of missing, I was seriously missing my two teenaged daughters that currently lived in Texas for the past six weeks. Tomorrow was Monday, my son's 39th birthday, and I'd be in Raleigh with him Wednesday night. I had a lot on my mind. I looked to my right scanning for life. Tina's doublewide sat on 4 acres, and was dark and silent, the front door 80 feet from me at my 3 o'clock. No signs of her sister and brother-in-law, who were notorious for wandering in the moonlight, but it was only one o'clock in the morning right now. I had another smoke and nursed my beer as it had been a very long day at work. I couldn't believe my ears when suddenly out of nowhere, what sounded like a million birds started screaming in the forest just to my left. Every hair on my body stood out as I reached to kill the radio. This surreal cacophony went on for maybe a whole minute when I heard something that would have knocked me over had I not been sitting in my car. I have since listened to vocalizations on YouTube and the nearest thing to what I heard was "The Ohio Sound," except that was far away and I was probably less than 100 feet away from the source here. Also there was no descending vocalization once it reached it's deafening crescendo. The force behind that howl/scream was somewhere between a really hungry lion, and a very pissed off T-Rex. Think up-close Jurassic Park. I was sitting in my old Ford Contour and my bones and organs were vibrating. I have since learned that was the result of the infrasound it produced. I was terrified and felt disoriented, also effects of infrasound. Things have never really scared me. Hell, I'm an old guy from Texas. I'd seen lots of crazy shit, but I jus0couldn't move. I just sat there thinking someone like me might get eaten. When the roar finally peaked, the birds and frogs were totally silent; not a single peep or croak was heard, and I was still vibrating. The silence was broken by a few seconds of the sound of something moving away in the woods. There was a creek in a ravine out there about 50 yards straight ahead and I started hearing what sounded like large rocks smashing against others. I happened to look at the front porch as Tina turned the light on and stuck her head out, looked my way, dipped back and closed the door. I figured since the beast was in the ravine, I had a chance to make a run for the house. I was shaking when I entered, and she said I was pale and asked what was wrong. I told her I thought she had a Sasquatch in her back yard. She just laughed and laughed and laughed. I told her I was serious, but she snickered and I went to bed. It took a long time to fall asleep that night. The next day I avoided the backyard and drove into Vancouver to get my cat. I pretty much stayed in my room when we got back. The next day I sold my car to Tina's mother and stayed in my room. Wednesday, Tina drove me to Portland to fly to Raleigh. I told my son about it after I had been there a couple days. He was intrigued, and then I put it all in a box for several years. I knew people would laugh. I wish assholes were as hard to find as Sasquatches. I never mentioned it again. A couple months ago I started listening to podcasts, especially yours, and it's really been all consuming, but in a very beneficial way: the realization of the existence of an ancient, feral species that has no concept or need of money to survive. They are truly free. I feel we are the newcomers here, living our lives in chains."

It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind
and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up
and that shocked me.
They don't make people that that big.
The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach.
I've never seen anything moves like that in my life.
They were screaming at each other in gibberish.
It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards.
I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw were bears.
What happened what are you reporting?
Get somebody out here.
What's going on now, sir?
That's son of a bitch is about six of a bear.
Mitch is about six foot nine. I don't know.
Do you see a bouncer?
Yes, I'm looking right in he.
Uh-uh.
This is Nick from Vader, Washington, and you're listening to the best Bigfoot podcast out there,
Sasquatch Chronicles.
The Bernie Chronicles.
Welcome to the show, everyone.
Thanks for being here tonight.
Got a great show planned for you.
The other night I was talking to Bernie about his life, and he shared with me an encounter he had in 2010
in Western Washington.
And as we spoke,
he was sharing moments of his life with me,
and I was fascinated by the experiences he's had
while being on this planet for the last 70-plus years.
And I asked him if he would come on the show and share it with you.
Most ghost encounters are rather benign.
But when Bernie told me his, I was stunned.
I remember a long pause.
And we'll discuss that tonight,
along with a few other.
strange things that have happened to him throughout his life.
If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email.
My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com.

On July 5th, Tony Merkel from the Confessionals podcast and myself are launching the After Dark series
for members.
It'll be a live show and you guys can come on video with us and give us your feedback.
I'm excited to launch the After Dark series and I hope to see you guys there.
Let's jump into it tonight.
I want to welcome Bernie to the show.
Bernie, thanks for coming on.
Oh, it's my pleasure.
Thank you, Wes, for having me.
The pleasure is mine.
You know, normally I would leave the ghost story until the end, but I wanted to kind of start
with that. Tell me about the first time that you saw an apparition.
Oh. Well, the first full-bodied, non-vaparous apparition I ever saw was the night of New Year's Eve,
1960, and it was going to go into 61. I was 10 years old. I was sitting on the couch watching
big time wrestling out of Fort Worth on KTBTBT.
And my nana, my mother's mother, was in the bathroom down the hall on the left.
I could look straight down the hall from where I was sitting.
And there was a doorway from the kitchen that opened up a little ways down there before you got to the bathroom.
And I saw this man.
Oh, and my folks were like, it was a New Year's Eve party.
they were at the officers club at the base.
And so I'm sitting there watching, and I see this man come walking out of the kitchen.
And he walks down to my nana's room, and it's the last door on the right.
And he goes in that door.
And I'm like, I just turned 10 years old, you know, and I was kind of little.
And I went up, knocked on the door, the bathroom.
She says, what?
I said, Nana, we got a burglar.
She says, what?
I said, he just went into your room.
She says, oh, nonsense.
I said, I saw him.
She says, you were dreaming.
I said, I wasn't dreaming.
I was watching big time wrestling.
She says, well, let me dry my hands or something, and she dried her hands.
And I ran to the closet by the front door and got my dad's 22.
I didn't have any bullets, but I remember the 22 was heavy.
It was a little marlin.
I picked it up, led her down the hall to her room.
Door was open and turned a light on, looked under the bed,
looked on the other side of the bed, looked in her closets.
Nobody there.
She says, well, I told you you were just screaming.
I said, well, okay, and I put the gun back.
Well, about 14 years later.
Oh, every day my nana would say, I'm going to go take it.
a nap at 4 o'clock every day.
And she'd go in her room and close the door.
She'd be in there for like an hour, hour and a half.
She'd come out.
She'd say, well, I feel good now.
Anyway, 14 years later, I happened to be visiting her.
I was doing a, I was working, I was a stage manager, and I was going from San Antonio to
Dallas for a show.
And the show was over, I think.
This was on the way back.
and my mom called me aside.
She says, do you remember when you saw a burglar?
And I says, yeah.
She said, I got to tell you.
She says, I couldn't tell you until now because I think you'll probably understand it better.
She says, but that was my father.
And she said, you remember when she'd go in her room at 4 o'clock every day?
I said, yeah.
She said she was communicating with him on that little black TV tray that I was
having to have.
And since he was Canadian, he was, you know, when he died, she got a monthly check from
the crown.
My mother was in the room with her one particular day and she, and then it said, James, I got my
my check today.
And he wrapped out no, which was like two bangs.
One bang is yes, two bangs was no.
And if he wanted to start talking, well, you just had to count the letters and where he
stopped.
That was the letter.
And then you go to the next letter in the word, whatever.
And she looked at my mother, and my mother said,
uh-huh.
She says, well, James is sitting right there on the bureau.
And once again, he banged out no.
And she said, would you please explain?
So he started banging out letters that spelled our check.
So he still had a sense of humor.
It wasn't just her check.
It was our check.
Yeah, that's an amazing account, especially with what your grandmother was doing, you know, in the middle of the day.
You know, you're being told she's taking a nap, but she's actually in there, you know, trying to communicate or bring forth his spirit.
Did anything else happen in the house?
I would imagine a lot went on with, you know, what she was doing.
No, that was the only time.
We heard him a couple of times walking around.
It sounded like he was in the attic at one point.
And mom said she heard her dad up there the night before or something.
But it was pretty amazing.
Yeah, there were other things that happened there.
But that was after she was gone.
My father had an aortic aneurysm explode in his chest.
I was trying to get him out of the house, get him to the hospital.
And we didn't know what it was, but he collapsed.
my arms at the front door basically died right there.
And then the EMDs got there and they got him back up like three times on the way to the hospital.
And that was a crazy thing because the rain come up out of nowhere.
And yeah, and when he, they sent us into the chapel when they unloaded him at the hospital.
I knew the doctor, the ER doctor.
he was there.
That's why I wanted him to go to that hospital
because he was the best in town.
And there was this huge lightning,
I mean, thunder, lightning struck right across the street
from the hospital, hit the church.
And all the power went out in the hospital.
Then the generators kicked on
and were all kind of standing there.
Milton came out.
He says, Bernie?
He says, yeah, he says,
remember when that power went out?
I went, yep.
He said, that's when your dad left.
I was like, holy cow, went out riding a lightning bowl.
And just earlier that day, I told him that we thought we saw a mother's ship earlier in the morning.
I got a call from my next wife.
She said, Shea, go out there and take a look.
Yeah, it was pretty crazy.
Anyway, he never would commit one way or the other about UFOs.
June the 6th, 1992 is when he passed.
I gotcha.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad and his passing.
I know you, when we spoke earlier, this took place in West Texas.
After your dad died, were you still in the home?
And did anything else happen?
Well, we moved in to take care of my mother.
who was still there.
But she had had some type of incident.
They called it or something in her brain.
And it was almost like a stroke.
But then she got a brain tumor in that spot.
And she passed in November of that year.
Yeah, she had a big tumor.
They went in and did surgery and bought her about six weeks.
And she died on Thanksgiving Day that year.
Yeah.
there at the house.
My mom and dad were still there, I think, when I came home to, we had moved to Fort Worth, sold the house, and I had to come and empty it.
And the last day I was there, I was in the bathroom, packing things out of the bathroom cupboard.
And the doorbell rang.
And I walked about, it was like 15 feet from the front door.
open the door
there
and I went
okay you guys
and then when I finally got it all loaded up
I said well
I stood in the living room
I said well mom dad this is it
I'm leaving
this is for good
I said y'all go on
go on into the light
and
I felt somebody
pat the back of
shoulder, and then I felt a kiss on my opposite cheek.
And I walked out the door, and that was pretty tough.
But, yeah, I've had a lot of, I've seen a lot of strange things.
I saw a little girl one time.
She was the daughter of Colonel Grierson at Fort Concho in San Angelo.
I was helping a buddy of mine
He was a florist
And he and his family had this big flower shop
And uh
Greenhouse and
I got the early one morning
And he said, okay, let's load these things up
We grabbed these little arrangements
Throw them in the van and hopped in
I said where are we going? He says,
Fork Concho
He said, so-and-so's having a post-funeral
Get Together over here in Officer's Quarters
number one.
I said, oh, super.
So we go over there.
He said, we got to get the key.
So we went to the headquarters, got the key.
Drove around the parade field, pulled up in front of officers, quarters, number one.
We carried boxes up there.
And he says, okay, we got inside.
And he put one in my left hand.
And he said, this one goes up to this bedroom, the east bedroom.
And he said, in this one, he put in my right hand.
He said, that goes in the west bedroom on the little bureau.
there. I said, okay. So I go upstairs and into the
west bedroom first, and it felt like I was walking through a bunch of people,
actually. And I set it down
where I was supposed to, and I turned, and I said, excuse me, folks. And I just
walked across, and I walked around the stairwell thing
that was in the middle and went into the other room.
I saw this little girl sitting on the floor,
out of the corner of my eye.
And she was dressed
like 1800s.
And I just kind of
and I've only got one eye, right?
I've only, I lost my right eye years ago
the night after John Lannadden's
but
I put
that little vase on the
on the chest
of drawers there and turned around
and she just
and looked at her and she just faded out.
But she looked at her.
solid while she was sitting there.
And I went downstairs,
why does it go,
Tommy says,
what's the matter?
I said,
I just saw a little girl up there
sitting on the floor.
And he said,
huh.
He said,
follow me.
And I walked with him
back into the kitchen
in the back part
of the officer's quarters number one.
And he said,
is that her up there?
And it was her.
It was a portrait of her
that had been done
back in the
1800s.
And she had got scarlet fever
or something or
typhoid fever or something
and passed away in that room.
That's what I found
out later from a lady that was
all knowing about it.
Yeah, that's insane.
But you hear about people seeing stuff like this
all the time, especially in
these historical sites.
When you were walking
and you said you felt like you were kind of
bumping into people or walking through people.
What do you mean by that?
Was it something you saw?
Was it something you felt?
I felt like there was energy bumping into me kind of almost.
You know what I mean?
I felt like I was banging through.
You know, when you bump into somebody,
it's kind of like what it felt except not that hard.
I just felt like somebody was there, you know.
It's what it felt like.
And there have been other,
there have been people that go in there have got lots of EDPs and whatnot.
Yeah, I believe it.
I've heard from many different eyewitnesses that have seen stuff like this before.
And I'll cut this part out of the show, and I want to ask respectfully.
So you don't want me to air it.
I'll cut this part out.
But you said you lost your eye.
Was it the night that John Lennon died?
What happened?
It was the night after John Lennon was assassinated.
Yeah.
I was buying oil and gas leases in East Tennessee,
and they called us in the middle of the night.
I had a crash and tried to go through a windshield.
I didn't, but it cut my eye in half.
So I went home with an eye patch,
and my buddy, the late Doak Sneed,
made rest in peace.
He was a songwriter out there in Nashville.
He said, Bernie, you've always acted like a pirate,
at least now you can look like one.
Thank you, Doug.
It's always the pals that give you the right perspective and bring you back home.
It's good to have friends and moments like this in life.
And it's a terrible story.
I'm sorry to hear about your eye.
You know, you kind of alluded to it there in the beginning.
And I know a little bit about your father.
And he was kind of a secretive guy.
but in 2020, you kind of put pieces of this whole puzzle together about your dad's life and what he actually did for work.
Tell me about that.
Okay, well, I was watching some TV show.
And I think UFO hunters have been there as well.
But apparently the night of December the 9th, 1965, something crashed.
outside of Kexburg, Pennsylvania.
And the witnesses said it had hieroglyphics around it,
and that soon the place was overrun with a flatbed truck with a crane,
and they tarped it, put it on this big flatbed trailer,
and all these guys in suits and all these military uniforms that nobody,
that they'd never seen before, I think,
They were like they couldn't tell whether they were Army Navy or what.
But they were all there and they told everybody, you didn't see anything.
Get out of here.
Well, that thing, they hauled it off.
And then some truck driver, they mentioned, the show mentioned some truck driver outside the south gate of Bright Patterson Air Force Base,
saw that convoy going through the South Gate early in the morning, maybe about dawn or something.
so six o'clock in the morning.
And, you know, they just had to drive over there.
You know, Pennsylvania to Ohio, it's not that stretch.
Not that big a stretch.
But anyway, this truck driver said he saw it going that way,
and they drove all the way to the end, to the north end, to a hangar.
So I was like, this 9th of December 19th.
65, right Patterson, and everything fell right back into my memory that I remember what happened that night.
My birthday was December 2nd, and so this was like a week after my birthday, and I hadn't gotten an electric guitar and an amplifier yet for my birthday.
So I'm thinking, maybe I'll get it for Christmas, you know.
I was such a mercenary little kid
So anyway, my dad gets this
The phone starts ringing like about midnight
And I sit up
My dad walks by the door going down the hall
Because the phone that's in the kitchen
I hear him
He's going, yeah
And mom gets up, she goes running after
He goes, yeah, when?
Okay
And he hung up, you know
And so he's walking back by
And I said, is grandpa okay?
because my grandparents, his folks lived in San Antonio.
And he said, no, they're just fine.
He says, I just have to fly out in the morning.
I said, oh, okay.
So me and mom got up early, drove him out to the tarmac out at the Air Force base.
He got in this little plane that he always flew in.
And he took off.
And I think that was a Friday morning, maybe.
and he came back Monday
and he looked a little grayer
around the temples
and he looked like he'd been through some shit really
kind of
and so that night I went into his bedroom
he was hunkered over his desk
looking at his yellow tablet
and it had all these hieroglyphics on it
I was like wow
what's that say dad
He goes, says, eat it, Joe.
And we both laughed.
And I went to bed, you know, he chucked them.
And it all makes sense.
He had to go to Wright Patterson.
And he saw the hieroglyphics, and he was trying to break it.
He was a senior master cryptologist designated by a national security agency.
I've still got the certificate in here.
and he also got a nice, great, big, great, big plaque from the Department of the Air Force.
He wasn't a, he was a civilian, and he was like the highest ranking civilian on the base at the time when he retired.
Every time I'd see UFOs when I was a kid, I was sitting outside one night.
I was waiting for a ride to come by, we were going to movies.
And I saw this delta formation of lights coming over the top of the house.
they're wept pretty high.
And then they all broke out into a straight line
and then just went out and different angles forward.
And I watched and they just out of sight.
And I went right in the house.
I said, Dad, Dad, I think I just saw formation of UFOs.
I told him what it was.
I said, do you think there's flying saucers?
I don't know what do you think.
He never would say.
All he'd ever say is, I don't know, what do you think?
But then he got a subscription of popular science.
There was always UFO stories in there and sightings.
And he said, here, I got this.
I thought you might enjoy some of these articles.
And then when Chariots of the Gods came out, he bought that and gave it to me.
And he never could say, you know what I mean?
He was under oath.
And the day after my father's funeral,
I mean, he had a full bird colonel's funeral taps.
He had everything but a flyover.
The next day, Mom and I went out there pick out a headstone for her and him
because she wanted to be buried right next to him, of course.
And on the way back, we had to drive by the Air Force base by the gate.
And she looked at me and she said, she was staring at that gate.
She goes, you know, I never did know what he did out there.
she said the last time I asked him was about 1968
and he said
Mona, if it ever got out what I did
he said our entire family could disappear
in the middle of the night
and no one would know where our bodies would ever be found
and so that's kind of what put the ice in on the cake
for me when I thought my dad really knew
what was going on the whole time
Yeah, your father's response to your mother back in 68 about the family disappearing
makes me believe he probably really was involved in all this stuff.
And his job, you know, basically his job is encryption and decryption.
So it would make sense he would be the guy to look at stuff like that, you know, hieroglyphs
or, you know, trying to decipher what any of that means.
And the Kexpert incident, the whole Kexpert thing, the U.S. government writes it off as a meteor.
But eyewitnesses that were there was like, you know, they're like, no, it wasn't a meteor.
It was a ship.
And it wasn't just a crash.
It was a controlled crash.
That's fascinating about your father.
Yeah, sometimes he'd have to fly to the Pentagon.
I'd say, what are you going for?
He says, oh, I got to go to a Joint Chief of Staff leader.
I said, oh, okay.
So, I mean, he was in the know.
They listened to him on things, I believe.
He was the smartest man I ever knew.
It was in 2020 when I put it all together, what he did for a living.
You know, I'm just an instructor.
Yeah, sure, Dad, okay.
You're actually Indiana Jones kind of instructed, you know.
He goes out in the field and digs things up, you know,
or not digging up, but, you know, he was checking out the hieroglyphics that were on that ship, obviously,
because that's what he came back with with a sheet full of hieroglyphics.
Yeah, it's so hard to get information like this out of guys like your father because they don't talk.
And, you know, I realize when he was alive, he didn't, but he was probably doing that to protect you guys,
you know, his family and
but kind of be nice to sit down and
pick his brain and just
listen to him talk and find out
what he knows, you know?
Yeah, but he took
all those to his grave, all those secrets.
He was sworn and
he was a man of his word.
You know, that's kind of where I got my
raising, you know.
Yeah, sounds like
he was a great man.
You know, as far as aliens go,
I'm curious what you think,
Bernie, because you had seen a couple of UFOs and this weird incident with your father and kind of his strange job.
But, you know, when it comes to aliens, sometimes people think that they're coming from other galaxies.
Sometimes people think they're interdimensional.
They're coming from here.
Some people think that they're demons.
What's your take on the UFO and these aliens, Bernie?
I was wondering if they weren't part of the angels, you know.
maybe the grays were the angels in the Bible.
I don't know.
Or who knows?
I've always known aliens were out there.
Shoot, I saw a great big ship one morning or one afternoon.
It was about noon, I guess.
One year, me and an ex-wife were driving outside of town.
She wanted to go look at a car that was sitting outside of town somewhere, and we're going down the highway.
I looked up and I saw this.
It looked like a humongous black triangle with one corner, one point shaved off, and it was moving.
Probably at arm's length it was about an eighth of an inch.
But you could see it moving along the sky way up there, way, way up there, and it was black.
And as it got closer, there were like maybe 10 or 12,
silver discs
flying around it
orbiting it as it moved forward
they were going like in a
clockwise
circle around it
and we're standing there
we got out of the car and we're staring at it
and all of a sudden these other cars all
start pulling up and they're all jumping
out looking at it and everybody's pointing up there
we watched it for a good ten minutes
until it was out of sight
and that was like
in 1984 maybe real early in 84.
Yeah.
So that's before, you know, they had, or we knew about, you know, that shape.
We didn't have that in our supply of airplanes at the time, I don't believe, you know.
Yeah, I think the triangle thing is more of a recent thing people are reporting.
I want to say in the 80s, people were reporting more like flying saucers.
You know, the whole thing with the aliens, I'm with you, Bernie.
I don't know what to make of them either.
There is a lot of weird accounts of people being abducted.
And you can watch most of these online of people talking about this.
And even some researchers in the UFO field that actually have come forward with this information
where when someone's being abducted, they cry out in the name of Jesus Christ and it stops.
And to me, that's weird because why would aliens care about that name?
It's just strange.
It makes you wonder if it's more demonic.
Again, I really don't know.
They're possibly demons.
I've thought of that myself, too.
I was wondering, you know, somebody said demons one time and I was like, well, quite possibly.
you know, the other thing I wanted your thoughts on, Bernie, and I want to ask this respectfully,
in my 20s, I never thought I'd love this long. I think as you get older, you start to realize,
oh, I'm going to die. You know, I'm getting older and I'm not quite bouncing out of bed as quick.
But you don't really figure that out until half of your life is gone.
But my point is, I think when you get older, you start thinking about after,
you die. And I'm very curious on your thoughts. You know, I've always said that if I die and I come back
and I'm rattling dishes at 3 o'clock in the morning waking people out, I'm going to be pissed
that I'm back here. What do you make of your grandfather not really passing on? You know, I know
your grandmother was in there at 4 o'clock kind of calling out to him, but what do you make of him not
passing on.
They were so in love, and she never remarried.
He was killed. He was 24 years old. He was machine-gunned off of an old Harley, one of the
first Harleys they had over in France. He was shot running a message.
He died at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, her time. So that's what happened, apparently.
That's why they always connected at 4 o'clock.
and I've still got his little cap that he was wearing when he was shot.
And I've got a couple of articles.
I've got a little piece of his kilt.
I hold those things dear.
And you know when you're born,
here's how my story starts, man.
Wes,
what's your very first memory?
Oh, I would say my first memories are actually being in the crib.
that's mine.
That's mine.
I was in the kitchen in San Antonio,
but I remember having a memory then.
I remember my father walking up.
I couldn't focus my eyes,
but he was on my left side,
and he leaned over and gave me a kiss and said,
I, how are you doing?
Scratch my belly or something.
But I remembered a memory at that point
of being with this young man, I guess he was young man,
and he was tall.
He seemed tall to me.
And it was like we fell through the roof in that house.
Or we were looking through the ceiling.
And he says, that's going to be your mother and that's going to be your father.
And mom and dad were just getting ready for bed, you know.
And he said, they're going to love you forever.
and the next thing I knew, here I am in the kitchen, you know.
And then I was thinking maybe that was the quickening.
Because when my first daughter was born, my wife and I were in bed one night, asleep.
And I just sat up in bed.
And I looked at the end of the bed, looked at the closet, and I saw these two figures standing there.
that you know when they beam them up and down on Star Trek where they looked like just twinkle lights in a human form that's what it looked like
and uh i poke my wife i said hey hey look look look and she sits up and goes oh it's just them and went back to bed went back to sleep right away and then that next morning she got
the first kick from the baby.
And I was wondering if they weren't bringing my daughter's soul the way my grandfather brought mine.
You know?
Yeah, it makes you wonder.
It's a beautiful account, especially with your grandmother and your grandfather, you know,
shows you that, you know, love does conquer all.
And I really appreciate sharing that on the show and sharing it with.
me and the audience. And I want to ask you about 2010 because you were in my neck of the woods
and you had a very strange encounter in a place I know very well or many accounts come out of
there. But if you would, take me back to 2010, kind of what were you doing and what happened?
Okay. Well, I was closing up. I was working at Salmon Creek Safeway.
I had a job there working in the seafood department.
And so I had to close up. It was my last night at work. I was moving in a few days.
And I was flying out to stay with my son for a while out in Raleigh.
And a friend of mine called, Most Beautiful Lady I knew.
in Vancouver called and said,
hey, I've got a couple of,
or I've got a 12 pack of balloon moon.
Why don't you come on by?
She says, I want to see you before you fly out.
I said, well, great.
So I drove out to her place and then
hung out with her for a little while, a couple of hours, I guess.
We talked about all kinds of stuff.
She was going through a heartbreak.
I tried to give her a little encouragement,
tell her it wasn't in the world.
and she's doing real well now anyway, by the way.
But then I drove on to Woodland and made a right,
went up Lewis River Road.
My boss had given me a room or let me rent a room in her house for about six weeks.
I was fixing to leave there as well.
And pulled in.
I remember I had the times like,
these.
It was playing.
What are they called?
Those guys.
The food fighters.
Yeah, the food fighters.
Yeah, anyway.
Sun's getting low.
Anyway,
I went and so I was listening
to the food fighters.
I had the windows down
and I cracked open a beer
that Darcy had sent me home with.
I was sitting there and I lit up
a cigarette and I can hear the tree frogs
out there. They were trying to drown out.
My music.
I was sitting there thinking about flying to see John going out there and, you know, hoping I get to see Darcy again someday and just kind of looking around.
The place was quiet.
It was 1 o'clock in the morning.
And all of a sudden, do you remember Dream Catcher, that movie Dream Catcher?
It was a, and all the birds going crazy flying?
all the birds in this forest that were about 30 feet from me off to my left,
it sounded like a million birds all screaming and flying around on the canopy there at once.
And I had never heard such a noise as far as from birds.
You know, I've never heard that, especially at 1 o'clock in the morning.
And then all of a sudden, the most horrendous sound,
I've ever heard in my life.
It started out just kind of a, and just kept going up and happen, happen, happen, happen,
and then it just stopped.
And there wasn't a frog croaking, there wasn't a bird peeping.
And I was just terrified.
Have you ever had the feeling that something could possibly eat you at any moment?
Yeah, I have been in situations like that before.
Yeah, it's scary.
I was sitting in this little Ford contour, and I thought,
whatever made that sound could open this contour like a can of sardines,
and if they had a sleeve of crackers, they could have like a cowboy seafood dinner.
You know what I mean?
Sitting in a saddle.
Just opening this up and devour.
in me because it sounded like a T-Rex more than it did an angry lion.
It was that, if you saw Jurassic Park, I'm sure you did.
But when that T-Rex opened up and that just roared, that's what it sounded like to me,
except it went up, you know, the crescendo went up.
And I've played the Ohio Howl several times on the show.
I won't bore you with it now.
But did it kind of sound like that, kind of that air raid siren?
Yeah.
It started out like a, maybe I'm wrong about Ohio, but I thought that's what I was listening to.
It sounded like an increasing going up to scale kind of a getting louder and louder, you know.
It was, and the motivation, I think, behind.
that howl was everybody shut the hell up and they did you know and the birds had stopped and the
frogs it stopped then i heard sounded like something walking farther back into the woods
and that's when i heard a few seconds later i was sitting there going what am i going to do you know
and then I started hearing what sounded like big large rocks down in that ravine.
There was a creek down there.
And it sounded like these big rocks being thrown and hitting other big rocks.
And that's when I sat there for a second.
That's when Tina stuck her head out.
It looked around and turned the light on.
And I'm still looking at 80 feet to the front door from where I'm sitting.
And I started thinking, well, if he's down there, I can make it to the front door.
So I could jump out, took off running, and got to the front door and went in.
And she says, what's the matter with you?
You look pale.
You see a ghost?
I said, no.
I think you've got a Sasquatch in your backyard.
And she just, you know, I thought, I never expected it from her.
but she just laughed and laughed and laughed.
And I said, no, seriously.
And she just kind of shook her head and snickered.
And I just went off to bed, but I couldn't sleep for a long time that night.
I can tell you it was quite an experience.
I don't believe I've ever been that terrified in my life.
Yeah, when these things vocalize, they will strike the fear in just about anyone, really.
How far away from you was it when it vocalized?
I realized that, you know, you're in the forest and sound kind of bounces around, but how far away do you think it might have been?
I think it was probably under 100 feet.
I was like 30 foot from the forest, the edge of the forest.
And it sounded like he was just right there.
And I'm sure it was an alpha male because I can't imagine.
any juvenile or even a female coming close to that ferocity.
You know, it was just, it was just ferocious.
And I mean, I was, I was vibrating.
You know, I felt my organs and my bones vibrating in my chest.
And I was sitting in my car, you know.
It was just horrendous, I thought.
Yeah.
Yeah, even something as simple as,
like a mild growl, and you feel like your organs are shaking, you know, when you're near one of
these things. Were you ever able to get a look at what it had actually made that sound?
I never saw it. Never saw it. I'm not sure I'd be still alive if I saw it, you know,
because I might have done something to piss it off by looking at it or something, you know.
I don't know.
They're scary.
Yeah, they are very scary.
I wanted to ask you, you know, what kind of made you think it was a Bigfoot?
Had you heard that sound before?
I mean, there's nothing in the woods out here that make that noise except for these things.
And, you know, from this area, it's a unique area because if you haven't seen one of these creatures,
you probably know someone who has.
but during this event, what kind of made you think it was a Sasquatch?
Well, I've heard moose.
I've heard elk.
You know, I've lived in the mountains in New Mexico.
And I live in Idaho over there in Cordill Lane,
and we'd go camping over there in western Montana, you know,
up around Eagle Creek up in that area.
we'd go five miles up a Forest Service Road
and pitch a tent in the snow
and just kind of have a good time.
I had never heard anything like that before,
and I just kind of figured that's what it was
because of the magnitude
and the breath capacity of whatever made that sound.
It had to be humongous.
and I'd heard about them throwing rocks too, you know, before.
I'd heard that or read that somewhere.
And then when I heard that, I was thinking, well, I know there's nobody else back there.
You know, so that could very well be a Sasquatch.
Yeah, it doesn't shock me one bit that you probably did run into one of these things,
especially out there you get towards Ariel.
And for the audience, it's kind of think of D.B.
Cooper, that's basically where he dropped off at.
I wanted to ask you, you know, with Tina, your boss, did she ever come back to you and go,
hey, I'm hearing weird stuff out here?
No.
Never did.
Never did.
Makes you wonder if it was just kind of passing through.
Yeah.
That's what I was thinking.
I don't think he lived there, you know.
I think he was like, he might have got up there to that woods.
and said, oh, my God, this is all cut down back over this way.
I better turn around and start back down this way, you know.
Yeah.
She had four acres, and they were all cleared off.
You know, she had a few trees planted.
It's almost like the creature was just a surprise to see you as you were to kind of hear it,
like you guys just ran into each other.
I think so.
Yeah, he probably heard my mute.
and didn't like it.
I don't know.
But then, you know, all the birds went crazy when he started walking.
And then when he told him to shut up, they all did.
That was amazing to me.
I've never ever heard anything like that before.
You know, I ask everyone on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is?
And there's no wrong answer, Bernie.
But what are your thoughts?
What do you think that these things are?
Well, I've gleaned a lot of information from different episodes you've had and other people have put up.
I've kind of come up with this, it's like biblical theory.
You remember my brother Esau?
He was in Harry, Man, in the Bible, Esau.
Well, didn't he and his clan kind of just take off and go out and live in the wilderness?
They didn't want to be with civilization.
and they wanted to go out.
And I was wondering, you know, if possibly maybe Esau's daughters
may have been some of the daughters of men that the Nethylene took and raped.
And didn't God say something about that, saying,
I'm going to put a curse on your children?
forever.
Now, I think what you're thinking of is Ham, Noah's son,
and Ham's son, Canaan, was actually cursed.
But a lot of people do feel like Esau has something to do with these creatures.
I mean, he was a hairy guy.
It's a theory some people have for sure.
Yeah, so, I mean, could he have had that kind of body hair
and then maybe his offspring bred with,
the offspring of the Nephling.
You know, who knows?
But I'm thinking, you know, since the Nephling were fallen angels, you know, angels throughout the Bible, they just appear.
It doesn't say they're coming flying in.
I don't believe I've ever seen that in the Bible.
But that might explain part of the supernatural effects and things that.
people see with Bigfoot, where they just turn into a ball of light like an orb and just go float away.
I saw footage on Discovery Plus once of a of a Sasquatch walking on the other side of the river.
And then it just did that predator cloaking.
And it just kind of wiggled into nothing.
and they had that on video.
And I'm thinking, you know, angels are supernatural anyway.
So maybe that's where they're getting some of these supernatural abilities.
It's in their lineage, you know, from way back.
Anyway, that's kind of what I'm kicking around in my head on these things.
I think they've been around forever, you know, so, yeah.
Yeah, I like the fact that you're certainly.
for answers. And it's like I said, it's a question. There's no wrong answer because no one knows.
I'm with you. I think they've been around a lot longer than probably most people realize.
But, you know, I really enjoyed having you on the show, Bernie. And having you kind of share,
you know, the Bigfoot stuff is cool. But, you know, that story with your grandparents is really,
really going to stick with me. And thank you so much for taking the time to come on.
Well, thank you. I feel honored. And, Wes, it's been a real pleasure.
