Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1063 The Clicking Sound Surrounded Me

Tonight I will be speaking to Kelly and Zach. Kelly writes "I'm an avid outdoors person and have had multiple jobs which required me to work in remote locations, sleeping out under the stars and having experiences I can't explain. My brother turned me on to your podcast about a year ago after I had an encounter myself. I called and told him about it and he told me to listen to your podcast. After hearing some other stories I realized I had more encounters that I had never shared because I didn't know how to explain them. I'll just share some of them here and see if you would like more info. The encounter I told my brother about that had him recommend your show took place in western North Carolina near the town of Hot Springs. I was out exploring on my own, which I do a lot and found this abandoned road. I began following it and maybe a mile down the road I saw some skid marks. Being curious about the marks because the road was not accessible, I wandered off the road near the skid. About 300 yards away I found a small teepee type structure built that was about the size of a small tent. I kind of assumed it was built as a blind by hunters. There was no trail or anything. As I looked closer at the structure I could tell the branches had been snapped off to make this structure, not cut with a saw. Not knowing anything about sasquatch or the huts people have reported I looked at this thing a long time trying to figure out how a human would have made it. The other curious thing was the leaves on the inside of the hut were not disturbed, like the structure had been there a while without anyone going inside of it. I began looking around the area more and found two smaller, similar structures. At this point I thought it was a boy scout camp or something where they had built these. I looked around further and started noticing that small saplings had been snapped all around these huts. The only thing I could think is that a vehicle had driven over them but there was no way a vehicle could access this area without leaving a massive sign. I'm about 6'2 220 and I tried snapping them and couldn't get anywhere near being able to snap them. As I began to look around the area further I noticed all the birds stopped chirping and there was a weird chill in the air. I became pretty uncomfortable and then I started hearing what sounded like someone clicking their tongue extremely loud and occasionally a high pitched whistle. At this point I decided I must have stumbled into someone's property or drug area and started to move away. The clicking began to surround me and scared the shit out of me so I started moving quickly to get out. I then heard what sounded like rocks were being thrown. I never stopped to look back but just got to my vehicle as quickly as possible and drove to the nearest bar where I wrote down my encounter. After listening to other episodes I was reminded about a time I worked out at a hunting and fishing lodge in northern New Mexico. I used to get up at 4am every morning and drive around the ranch to make sure all the boats were cleaned and dried out for the guests. This was a gigantic ranch (they say it was bigger than Rhode Island) so you could easily go days without seeing another human. I drove to this remote area in the high country and came around a turn right around sunrise. I spooked this massive creature, which I assumed initially was a bear, it went from being on two legs down to all fours and ran like a wolf. The area it ran was through this open meadow that was probably about 1-2 miles long (if not further) downhill. Its hard to explain but the vantage point I had was from up above and the animal ran down towards a lake. This thing ran those 2 miles in under 10 seconds. It ran with long strides like a wolf but the ground it covered was insane. I told people about it at the ranch and they all made fun of me and said I was seeing things. I have a couple of other stories that are similar if you'd like to hear more. Thanks for taking the time to read this."   Zach writes "I emailed you about 2 years ago regarding the footprints my uncle and I found in Schuylkill county, Pennsylvania. After taking some time to think about my own sighting and some other encounters and stories told to me by family, friends and coworkers.....I've decided to finally type up an email. My sighting: In April of 2014, I was in my last few months of high school and had been working at a nursing home in Pottsville, PA in the kitchen. My mother at the time was the supervisor of the the place and I was getting a ride home with her after working 0700-1500. We were driving south towards my hometown, which is only about 4 miles from this sighting. I was in the passenger seat looking out the window, down towards the Schuylkill River and railroad tracks that run along the same route. The train tracks are about 75 yards from the road on a 45 degree angle. The leaves were not on the trees yet because it was right before spring, so I can see the tracks pretty good. Next thing, I see this tall and lengthy.....creature. It almost had the look of Treebeard from the Lord of the Rings Movie. Very tall, long, thin appendages and I could see dark brown/black hair. This creature was standing on the side of the railroad closest to me, looking down at the ground. Not sure why, but it was so eerie and just didn't register in my head until we got home. I told my Mom and she really didn't react. Totally didn't think it could be a sasquatch until you described the different types.  

It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up and that shocked me. They don't make people that big. The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything moves like that in my life. They were screaming at each other in gibberish. It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards.

I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw were bears. What happened what are you reporting? Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? That's son of a bitch is about six. bitch is about six foot nine, I don't know. Do you see a bouncer? Yes, I'm looking right in.

And in 2010, he was working on a ranch out there in New Mexico. And he had a very strange encounter. To this day, he's not sure exactly what. he saw. And I'll kind of like Kelly go into it. And then we'll wrap up with Zach. And Zach comes to us from Pennsylvania. He had an encounter kind of a not really a roadside crossing, but saw a creature while in a vehicle. And that happened in 2014, but Zach comes from a family line of law enforcement people and Zach actually works in corrections and he started talking to people there in the area and they shared stories with him as far as what they've seen.

Thank you.

Yeah, and you had this encounter in 2010 while working on a ranch out there in New Mexico. If you would, just kind of start from the very beginning. What were you doing and what happened? Sure, so I worked out, It was a hunting and fishing lodge in northern New Mexico, kind of bordered Colorado. It was a huge ranch out there. People would spend quite a bit of money to come out.

I was the bartender, and then I also did it was called Lake Patrol. So I would get up early in the morning and drive around to all the lakes and make sure that the boats were kind of cleaned out and ready to go for the day fishing trips. And there were probably about 40 to 50 employees that were there. We were there seasonally, so from March to November. The closest town was about 40 miles, so we were very remote. So we spent a lot of time just as a group. Yeah, so like I said, I was doing the lake patrol. I'd get up early, be by myself driving this truck around.

It would usually take me about five hours to hit all the lakes. And at one point, or I guess it was one morning I was driving up, you get into the high country. It's probably two hours into my drive. I come around this curve and there was something I thought was a bear. I was standing up against the bushes. I saw tons of black bear out there every morning. I'd probably see a dozen of them.

And so I just kind of assumed that's what it was. And this thing, it was kind of right around daybreak. So the light was just coming up and it turned. I can vaguely remember what it looked like, the facial aspects of it, but it looked at me and it turned and it took off. And it ran on all fours and it looked like a wolf, but it covered a massive amount of ground in probably 20 to 30 seconds. I later called a friend who knew the ranch a little better than me

and asked this area, you can kind of see you're up on the top of this mountain and you can see down into the valley and there's no trees or anything. So it's just this wide open meadow. And he said it's a four and a half mile stretch. from where you can see it from the top down to this reservoir, and it's just completely clear. And when this thing took off running, I lost it about halfway down,

so I'm guessing two to two and a half miles. And like I said, it was 20 to 30 seconds. It was insane how fast this thing ran. It scared me. I had no idea what it was at this point in my life. I had never even heard of any, you know, Sasquite-supernatural type thing. So the only thing I could think it was was a wolf

and just thought maybe it had come down from, from somewhere around. So when I got back to the rest of the staff, I had mentioned it, asked if anybody had ever seen wolves out there, and a couple of them said that there was a pack that they had released near Yellowstone that they thought may had made its way down.

But when I explained what I saw and kind of the speed of it, they just kind of all made fun of me, and I never spoke about it again. Yeah, I'm not so sure that you saw a Sasquatch. And I know there's black, you know, you and I, both seem black bears.

We can agree. They're not real big. I'm not going to go toe to toe with one, but it's not a very large animal. But when you come around the corner, so you see it on all fours and then it stands up on two legs. Would you kind of describe what you saw? So it was originally on two legs when I first encountered it. And then it went down to all fours. And that's when it ran off on all fours.

And again, I thought it was like a bear trying to. to eat berries out of a bush or something. It was probably, it didn't seem huge when I saw it, maybe six or seven feet tall. I was in a truck, though, so it was kind of hard, and it came up on it pretty quick. I knew it wasn't a bear. I think it scared me so much

because I'd never seen anything like it. And then when it ran, I just assumed it had to have been a wolf. So I think in my mind, I kind of created wolf features that I had seen. but yeah, there's really, I can't even explain what I, what its face looked like. I didn't think it was a man initially. I thought it was a Bears, which makes me think it kind of had the wobbly, not balanced look. But it spun fairly quickly. I mean, it had to have been two seconds from the time I saw it to when it took off running.

And I know, Kelly, you're not really into this whole cryptid subject. You're not really into Bigfoot or Dogman. your brother is, but you're not. And this is something that you saw in New Mexico. You know, when I ever first got into this, people would come to me with these reports of this upright canine. And I didn't really know what to make of it. I was like, upright canine. That makes no sense. But over the years, I've taken so many reports from many reputable people that have seen this upright canine. I'm convinced it's out there. And, And I guess in this genre, we call it Dogman.

I'm not a fan of the name. But I kind of think that's what you saw. Because, you know, wolves don't get up on two legs. But have you looked into the subject of Dog Man? I haven't. No, I've ever heard a podcast after another experience I had about two years ago. My brother kind of turned me onto your podcast. So I've heard it through your podcast, but I've not done any research on Dog Man at all.

I have this image in my head that it had kind of like a muzzle like a dog or a wolf, but I don't know if I created that image because of the way it ran off. Yeah, and I respect your skepticism. I think sometimes when you see something that isn't supposed to exist and it's so weird, it's hard to really put it in a box. So I think we question ourselves, you know, as far as like, you know, what was it I actually saw? You know, an upright canine makes no sense.

And your brain's trying to process what you actually saw. I would definitely look into the dog man. I think that's what you saw that day. I know you had mentioned while working on this ranch, that wasn't the only weird thing you had seen on the ranch. There was another strange incident. If you would, tell me about it. Yeah, I think this was a couple months later.

we would have pretty frequently we would get together and have bonfires at night after we had all finished up work for the day. This particular night there were supposed to be a meteor shower, so we get the bonfire and there were five or six of us and we were just sitting down in this open field in our lawn chairs having some beverages just hanging out and these two lights came. I don't even know how to describe. They were large, maybe the size of a vehicle, like a smaller car, and they were pretty symmetrically apart. And they hovered about maybe 20 yards from us and just sat there. And we had absolutely, I mean, they showed up out of nowhere.

We had no clue what it was. And within an instant, they just disappeared. We all just were like, what the hell did we just see? No idea. There is a military base somewhat in that vicinity. and we had heard that they've done military, I guess, practices or run experiments out there. So we didn't know if possibly had done that. But it was glowing green, kind of like I think of the Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns comes out and using the radiation.

It looks similar to that. They were definitely hovering. I mean, it could have been like the size of a jet engine. And there were two of them. And they didn't move, like they moved at the same time. So large, I would say they were 20 yards from us, but I don't really know. I mean, it was this huge open field, so I don't know how close they got. We didn't hear them coming up.

They just kind of appeared. And then, like I said, before we even said anything, I mean, maybe somebody said, what's that? But they just took off again and they were no longer to be seen. No noises, no sound at all. And again, knowing that you're kind of new to the subject, there's a lot of people that report these weird lights when these creatures are around. And I know you're in a field and it's starting to get nighttime and it's kind of hard to judge size and that sort of thing.

But I want to ask you, I mean, how high up do you think they were? Was it in the sky or was it more kind of down in the tree line? I wouldn't say they were eye level with us, but they were lower. It felt like they were watching us. Like they were, if it were a plane, it had dropped down too close to ground level to see what we were doing. So they weren't very high in the sky, maybe 10 feet up at the highest. Did you see a shape to them or was it more or less kind of like two glowing balls of light? No, it was definitely a shape to them.

They were circular. Again, like I think of a jet engine, just kind of hovering there. they didn't know that I'm talking about. I don't think they radiated much light, though. I think it was just kind of a glow. You know, it's weird. A lot of times people will see these lights in correlation with these cryptids, but not always. I mean, there is people that run into these weird lights out in the woods without seeing a creature.

But, you know, normally when people report the lights, they'll report them, you know, softball side. maybe soccer ball size, that sort of thing. But you also get these weird reports of bigger balls of light. I had a state trooper one time almost hit one, and he was describing it to me. And I was thinking like UFO or something like that. I asked him how big it was. And he said, oh, you know, it was about the size of a Volkswagen.

But it was just this weird light going across the road. And he almost hit it. He didn't know what it was. And he said it just kind of flew off and it was gone. But it was kind of a ball of light about the size of a Volkswagen. And I filmed the lights. And I mean, I'll send you the video if you want to watch it. But everything's kind of been this chrome green color because it was through night vision.

But you just see this little weird ball of light like chilling above the river. It's weird, man. And, you know, the other thing you brought up how there was no noise. You know, there's never noise when people see these lights flying around. and it's a real soft light. It's hard to describe. I mean, you kind of nailed it. I've seen the lights on two different occasions,

and both times I can say it was a very soft light. It's not like it might light up a little bit around where it's flying around, but not a lot. And when you look at them, they kind of look like a nuclear reactor or something. It's very hard to describe it. You know what I mean? Right. Yeah. And the size of a Volkswagen is,

a pretty good description of the size of this. After you said that, that made sense. And yeah, we didn't have to, like, cover our eyes. It wasn't like they were shining this light on us, whatever it was. It was just kind of glowing. Yeah, it's weird. And you'll hear of different colors of these balls of light. And if you look in history in World War II, the fighter pilots would see these.

They called them foo fighters. You know, everyone knows the foo fighter band. but that's what World War II pilots called them. And if you go look at what they documented what they had seen, it sounds like modern-day balls of light that we were seeing in the forest. You were there with a bunch of people. I mean, what was the conversation like after they took off? Yeah, I think we just kind of all agreed that.

It must have been some type of military practice that they were doing. And when we talked about it later, everyone, you know, had a similar story that they shared and just kind of brushed it off like there was some, you know, new military type aircraft that they were trying out. It just felt like maybe they were trying to see how close them they could get before we even recognized it. Yeah, it makes me wonder if what you saw was actually the balls of light, because I don't think that you saw military craft flying around. I can't think of anything that we have that's kind of a ball of light that flies around. I get why you feel like they were following you, though. The two times I've seen the balls of light, I do get a weird vibe that, almost like

they're just as interested in us as we are of them, like they're watching you or something. It's strange, man. Take me back two years ago because you had this encounter in North Carolina. This wasn't you left the ranch. but take me to 2022, kind of what were you doing and what happened? Sure, so I, yeah, I was out in western North Carolina, I think of about 20 to 30 miles from Tennessee. To spend a lot of time, I had my own business at the time, so I have a lot of free time to just kind of wander. And I was new to the area, so I would just go out and spend the day kind of exploring the woods.

this area specifically had this really beautiful river that I had gone to and visited a few times. And this time as I was driving in, I noticed this pull off and not having a whole lot to do that day. I just decided to stop there and go for a hike. So I parked at the kind of the end of the road. There was a gate which continued the road on. But you could tell that it had been a while since that road had been used. So I started walking down the road. I'd probably gone down about a mile.

everything was pretty overgrown, looked like it had not been driven on for a while. And then I saw these tire marks on the road as I was walking and thought it was interesting. I was kind of expecting to maybe see like an animal that had been hit, a bear or gear, like maybe somebody had been driving and slammed on their brake. So I walked off to explore the woods in that area to see if I could find something. And about 200 yards off the road, I saw this structure. that I actually have pictures of it. And back then, I'd gotten rid of my smartphone.

I had a flip phone, so I still have it on my flip phone. But it was kind of like a teepee type structure. I assumed it was a blind that had been set up by a hunter, possibly, or somebody who had been living out there. Walking around the area, it didn't look like there was much, you know, foot traffic that had been back there. So I continued to look, and again, this, I have now. had not heard anything about Sasquatch or, I mean, I knew stories about it, but I didn't know

about your show or kind of what other people had experienced. So as I'm looking around, there were a couple other of these huts. There were two smaller ones. And as I'm walking around, I just, I start to notice these little saplings that are just snapped at the base of the tree. and having spent a lot of time out in nature, it was something I'd never seen before. It looked like somebody had driven a vehicle back there

and had just crushed these trees, these little saplings. So I kept looking and tried actually to snap a couple myself, and I'm a bigger guy, stepped on, and jumped on them, and I got nowhere, and they would just bounce back. And these things are snapped in half, or some of them are still connected, but clearly broken. And that kind of weirded me out, had no idea what that was. And then as I'm looking at the structures, I can tell that some of the branches that were used to build the structures had a similar,

looking like they had been snapped and tore apart to build the structure, which was interesting to me, because if it was a human, they probably would have used a saw or somewhat easier way. So I continue to walk around and there's a little area in the same spot where there's these probably 15 to 20 trees that are down. They're dead trees and they are, I don't know how to explain it, but they like kind of force me into an area. So it's like this little wash and the limbs are pushing me down into this walkway almost like. I'm walking into a trap and it kind of felt eerie as I was walking down there and as I'm going down I don't know if the birds got quiet then or I just noticed it but it got extremely quiet and I got really creeped out um started to shake on and decided that maybe I had gone into

like a drug you know somebody was growing pot out there or something got really uncomfortable and then I started hearing this clicking sound like I don't know how to explain it like if you click with the top of your tongue on the roof of your mouth, but it was really loud. So then I thought that was maybe a signal between two people. So I started moving a little quicker to get out of that area. And then it just surrounds me. I mean, there's probably five or six different clicks going on on all different sides of me. And that's when I decided I probably shouldn't be there anymore.

So start moving a little faster. And as I'm leaving, it sounded like things were being thrown at me. I don't know if it was rocks or sticks or something, but definitely was not wanted where I was. I never saw anything at that point, but definitely scared me. I got out of there fairly quickly. As I got back to the road, though, my curiosity, I would, it was the middle of the day. And I, again, I had no real background with Sasquatch or anything. So I did look around a little further.

I found this open field, and in the middle of the field was a giant quartz rock, which was really, interesting to me. I didn't know what, you know, I didn't put the two together at the time, but as I'm looking at this, I hear something off in the trees and I can see it's probably 100, maybe 200 yards from where I'm at and there's this dark object up in a tree and it looks like a tail is hanging down like you would see a leopard, like when I was at the zoo or something, just this tail hanging or thinking back now, it could have been an arm or something. And it was just sitting there. I got a picture on my flip phone. It's really hard to see what it is. But at that point, I got pretty freaked out and got out of there fairly quickly.

When I got in my car and drove to the closest, there was a bar probably 30 minutes away. And I called my brother and kind of explained the story to him. And that's when he told me I needed to listen to your show. You know, Kelly, as you listen to other people's encounters, one thing you'll find a lot is people would describe the forest just going silent, like no crickets, no nothing. And I call it the forest taking a deep breath. And it generally happens when these creatures are around. And there's many reports from eyewitnesses that describe these creatures kind of funneling their prey

into an area for an ambush. It's weird, man. They hunt, they seem to hunt a lot like we do. So as you're walking down this into this area, was it the way the branches were broken? Is that kind of why you felt like you were being funneled to a spot? Yeah, it's hard to explain. So there were down trees that it looked like somebody had pulled together and lined up kind of in a way that you could only walk this certain direction. And it may have been at one time like an old game trail or even maybe a logging road.

because it was kind of this ledge on the side of the hill, but it forced you, you couldn't walk on the side of the hill. You had to go down into it. On one side was kind of a drop-off, and on the other side were these trees that, you know, I guess maybe it could have been at some point a logging industry or something, but the trees were all fairly old and dead, but they were clearly lined up in a way.

Somebody had done that intentionally. I don't know what the reason was, but somebody had moved these logs so that you could only walk one direction. You couldn't walk along the hillside. You had to walk down this valley, kind of. You know what's fascinating, Kelly, is these creatures seem to have a language. You'll hear many eyewitnesses report this weird language. On last night's show, I was talking to Colton about that. We kind of got into the whole language of Sasquatch.

And anyway, you'll hear it in the beginning of my... show in the intro, you heard these creatures kind of going back and forth with one another. The other thing that gets reported a lot is this clicking noise. And it's kind of, some people say they were just kind of clicking back and forth with one another. And I tend to think that's a weird language. I know there's a tribe, I think it's in Africa, that has this clicking language that they do. I wanted to ask you, though, while you were there in the moment, do you think it was was just one thing clicking at you and it was kind of going around,

or do you think that there was multiple things kind of clicking back and forth? Initially, at one point, it was definitely surrounding me. I mean, because I was trying to think of which way to go to avoid the clicking. And the only way I knew how to get out of there was to go the way I did come in. So, yeah, at one point, also with, you know, the canyon type place that was in, it could have been echoing off the walls, but it definitely sounded more like that from one point it was one singular clicking to then it was surrounding me, and whether it was two or three or five or six, I don't know. Can I ask you, Kelly?

I mean, I know at this time you're not really into Bigfoot, but what did you think was going on? I mean, I thought I had stumbled upon either like a homeless shelter or somebody was, you know, growing meat out there. was the only thing I could, in my mind, made any sense at that point. It was either a homeless encampment or, but again, there was no foot signs of foot traffic or anything. That was the bizarre thing. No trash, no fire pits. Or if it had been a homeless place, you know, that's what I would have seen some of that. So I didn't really know what to think. And part of the reason I, you know, I called my brother who's one of the few people who won't think I'm crazy. Yeah, then you describe stuff being thrown at you on your way out.

Do you think you were followed out, or was it just stuff being thrown until you were out of range? Yeah, I didn't feel like I was followed at all. Once I got back to the road, it felt, you know, pretty similar to any other time I'd been on the woods. I've been back to the area and get pretty freaked out. I'm trying to get my brother to come out and go camping out there with me, but I don't really want to go out there. Yeah, let me know if you go back. Be careful going back. I wanted to ask you about this clicking.

I'm trying to think how to ask this. Did you feel like it was a language? Did you feel like these things, whatever it was, the clicking was some weird language where they were going back and forth with one another? I know it was kind of a hard question to answer. Yeah, it definitely felt like they were communicating. And like I said, it felt like they were sending

signals to each other. But yeah, like the, I don't know what tribes it is, but I've, you know, like when you see mission, missionary videos of them going into untouched tribes and the way they have spoken in those videos, it's something like that. It sounded very similar to that. And again, I thought it was just somebody signaling to somebody else. I don't know if they were actually speaking a language and responding to each other. It just happened to try to get me out of there. Yeah, I would be very careful going back. but I'd be very curious to know if anything happens when you do go back. You know, I ask everyone on the show, you know, what do you think Sasquatch is?

And obviously there's no wrong answer. But what are your thoughts? What do you think that these creatures are? Yeah, I guess I feel like it would have to be something supernatural. I'd feel like if it were just an animal out there, we would have at some point been able to catch it or, you know, found signs of it. So I think there's, I guess, a combination of some type of animal and supernatural. I mean, I've had other things happen since that experience.

I moved out to North Carolina and bought a home about 40 miles from where this experience happened. And I hear things now from my house that I don't even want to know necessarily what's going on. And I've talked to people around. And they say it's just, you know, demons and these things have been out here. forever and it's almost like I just I don't know if I actually want to know the lores you know is enough to keep me intrigued but if I actually ran into one of these I don't know how I'd handle it it's kind of weird that the locals are saying it's demons and they've been around forever

and this is around your property what what is it that you're hearing I got a house out here about two years ago I guess it was about six months after I had that experience The first thing I can remember was I went out one night, which it's this, we, our house backs up to this mountain. There's nobody that lives behind us. There's some trails back there. Just beautiful, wooded area. So I went out there to use the bathroom one night. It was probably 11 or 12 at night, and it sounded like a woman yelling, not so much in distress, not really singing, but just definitely like a female voice.

I just listened to it for a while. I could tell it was up the mountain. It wasn't nearby. I mean, this mountain is about a four-mile climb to get to the top of it, and it's straight up. So it wasn't going to go out, but the next day I took my dog with me, and we went up, and there was a section of it where he just freaked out and would not go any further with me.

So I kept going, and I found this. It looked like either a possum or a raccoon school, and it was completely skinned, it was white, and it was right in the middle of the trail. And this is a trail that people will use in the daytime fairly often if they're in good shape and want a challenge. But I don't know how long it had been sitting there. And then there was a pile of scat next to it, and it was not any kind of I had ever seen. And I'm fairly familiar with most animal droppings out there. And this thing was it was a combination of bear scat and human, and then it had these rhododendron flowers.

in it like it had eaten rotodendron and then exposed of it. It was bizarre. I've never seen that sense. There's just weird noises and you know sometimes it's a screech owl or you know obviously wildlife like coyotes and things but yeah there's just some strange noises that happen. I don't even know how to explain it. I've never seen anything or had the kind of the ebgb feeling that I had that time I was walking and had the encounter but there's definitely noises in the night and like I said we kind of just stay inside. Not that we're even scared of it, but it's just kind of understood that you just leave it alone wherever's out there.

Yeah, the school is very interesting to me. You'll hear reports of people finding, you know, like a deer school, and it's so well eaten, I will say, that it almost looks like it's polished, you know. And the other weird part is hunters will come back and nothing has touched it. And, you know, that skull that you saw, I mean, stuff like that doesn't last very long in the woods. I mean, that stuff gets consumed pretty quick. You should get yourself a recorder, man. And I'd be real curious to know what kind of sounds you pick up after like midnight, 1 o'clock in the morning.

Get one of those recorders that only records when it hears noise. That way you don't have to go through hours and hours and hours of recording. But yeah, I'd be real curious to know if anything else happens out there. And I really appreciate you coming on. I know you're not really into Bigfoot. You didn't know much about the show. But your brother's a big fan. God bless your brother.

But I really appreciate you taking the time to come on. I know it's not the easiest thing to come on the show and recount what happened to you, especially after you've been goofed on. But I really enjoyed chatting with you, Kelly. Thank you. I appreciate it. And yeah, I'm pretty selective on who I share this with and what details I go into. So I appreciate you giving me the place to do this.

And on last night's show, I interviewed Colton, who's from Tennessee. And he had this encounter when he was 13. He came, I mean, it's a very compelling account. Here, I'll play a little clip from it. I walked down the hill and everything. I pushed my fishing rods through the little gap in the fence. And I climbed the fence. And as soon as I step down, I jump down.

As soon as I jump down, maybe 100, 150 yards to my left. Into the tree line, I hear movement. I hear something break to run. And my immediate thought was just a deer because we have so many white tail around here. And we actually had a lot of white tail on that specific property. But as I'm looking, and this all happened really fast. but so I think a deer and I look to my left. And what I'm seeing is not making sense because I'm seeing these trees swaying.

And it's all confusing and it's all happening so fast. But I'm seeing these trees swaying. I mean, the forests just erupted. And as I see this, I notice like a smaller tree just completely snap, like completely just go down, disappear. And my alarm went up for sure. But another thing that was confusing is this thing, what I was seeing was moving at the speed of like a white tail, you know, in a full-on run. And it didn't make sense because white tails, you know, they'll take a trail. They don't just plow over trees and bushes and stuff. And also, I need to add this to at this particular

I don't know if it was a previous property owner, but somebody had taken and planted bamboo. And bamboo, from what I can understand, is really invasive and it had just grown over everything. So the first maybe 10 feet of this tree line is bamboo was scattered smaller trees, and then it kind of gets into some heavier timber and stuff. stuff, and then there's the creek. But anyway, I'm sitting here where I had jumped down. I just froze, and I was watching this thing. And all this movement is can come directly in my line. It's coming right for me.

And I'm concerned, but I'm not scared yet. And as it gets in front of me, if I was just looking at the tree line, as it's coming in front of me and what I think is going to run past me, All the movement and commotion ceases. It stops immediately and it gets silent. And at that point, obviously, my alarm went up and fear started to creep in. And for the first few seconds, I don't see anything. But I see this, eventually I see this dark mass.

And I'm trying to look through the bamboo and it's all really close together. Not a lot of gaps. but I'm seeing this dark creature, mass, whatever, coming toward to the edge of the tree line directly at me. And it's in what, it's like in an athletic, like, stalking-like position.

And at this point, I think it's on four, all fours. But as it gets closer to the edge of the bamboo, the first thing I see is it's right hand. And it looks exactly. exactly like a human hand. And it continues to come and it gets the edge of the tree line. And it stands straight up on two legs. And, man, I cannot explain or convey the level of fear that happens when you get into

these situations. I mean, I later went back and estimated how far I weigh up that I was from the tree line it was probably like 25 feet but I'm sitting here staring face to face with what I can only call at the time is like a monster or a beast or something I mean I might have heard the term big foot at this age but that's about the extent of my knowledge of the subject you know I didn't know anything and that's a small clip from episode 1062 we locked eyes and very very compelling account. Hey, thanks for having me, Wes. Yeah, and before we talk about your encounter in 2014 in Pennsylvania, before we came on the air, you were telling me about your father, um, who's also a lot of enforcement as you are, Zach, and he was kind of sharing accounts with you. Tell me about that. Sure, yeah. So my dad is a retired police chief 26 years, and one of his officers told him a story. I guess they got talking to Bigfoot or whatever, and they were talking about back in the I think 85 or 86. His officer was, you know, a kid, middle school kid, and he was sledding with a bunch of friends. I think it was like right after Christmas time.

They were going down the hill a couple times, I think 45 minutes or so, they said. And he looks back and there's this figure standing in the wood line and they don't really know how to describe it. They said it's like a large, large man with shoulder pads on and like a fur coat. They said it was looking at them. And once it saw that they were looking back at the creature, that's what he said, a creature. He said it started moving away. And it must have been standing there for, you know, some time because the shoulders and head still had snow on it from the snow falling. so it must have been there quite a while.

Whatever this thing was, decided to turn back and keep its eyes on the kids while it went back into the bush and then it just disappeared into the woods. It was kind of eerie. A lot of encounters come out of Pennsylvania. The weird part is where your dad was telling you where this happened is kind of in the area where you had your sighting in 2014, and it's also the same area. I know you work in corrections in law enforcement. Some of your coworkers had seen similar creatures in the same area.

Prior to you seeing that thing in 2014, was all this stuff still kind of on your mind or had time kind of faded it away? You know, I want to say I didn't really think it was still there. I just thought, you know, oh, it's a story back in the 80s. you know, that's probably long gone. I hear you. Well, if you would, take me to 2014. What were you doing and what happened? Sure.

So it was my senior year. I got a job at a nursing home about four miles away from my house, so in Potsville, Pennsylvania. Yeah, I was in the kitchen cleaning and serving food to people in the retirement home. And my mom worked there as a supervisor. So when I would work day shift, I would get rides from her. And we were coming home.

I think it was April. It was still like the leaves weren't on the trees yet. It was probably early April, not springtime or anything yet in Pennsylvania. So anyway, we were going down. We got outside of the city and we're having. and south towards our hometown. The road that we're on, the left side of the road is like a 45 degree angle to the top. It's, you know, real steep trees and everything, rocks.

And then on the right side, which is the passenger side, which I was on, there's another edge of the mountain side that went down at another 45 degree angle, real steep. And then down from there is train tracks and the river that the train track follow. you know, we're just driving by. I'm looking out the window after, you know, long day of work. And next thing, I see this odd figure standing right by the railroad tracks closest to the road.

And it's just standing there looking down. And I'm like, that doesn't work right. It's, um, it was really weird looking like it was, legs and arms are really like long, skinny, like I said in my email. It looks like that character from Lord of the Rings,

the tree bear got a big tree looking thing. It's really weird how long the arms and the legs were. You could definitely tell it was some kind of creature just because of the you could see like, you know, hands. I couldn't really get a good look at what they actually looked like. I just saw the, you know, you can see the arm. and the bend of the elbow, real thin, like, almost like, I would say, you know, thin like a basketball player, like, you know, real tall basketball player. And it had like a brownish black fur.

You can see almost like the little like hair standing up, you know, like almost like matted somehow. And I couldn't see a face, but you could definitely tell that it was something that was seven, eight feet tall. It was huge. It wasn't, I know what people look like in the woods. I mean, I hunt and fish and stuff, and that looked nothing like anything I've seen before. And I know you're riding with your mother. How did you react? I mean, did you tell your mom?

No, I really didn't think of telling her. I was almost in shock at what I was seeing. Like, I didn't really know what to say. I kind of just kept quiet about it. I, you know, it was only like a 10-minute ride home. So after we got home, I was like, I told her what I saw. And she didn't really say much. I mean, she believed that I saw something, but she just didn't see it or anything.

Yeah, you would think the normal reaction would be, hey, mom, look at this, look, look, but that's not really how people react when they see these things, especially when you're driving in a car. It's kind of like you're in shock. And plus, I know you're pretty young when this happened. We're going back to 2014. You're in high school. But since then, you've actually started working in corrections, and you've been talking with some of your coworkers,

and they shared accounts with you. Tell me about those. So I work in corrections, and I, you know, I talk with a lot of people. And the one story I got from a staff member was she was driving to work. I think it was like 630, 6.45 in the morning because she had to be there for seven. And she was driving down. The sun still wasn't up. It was dawn.

There was Tahoe driving towards her. Whatever this thing was, crossed the road in front of the Tahoe and in front of her. And she said that it was this big beast-looking thing, you know, and it took like three steps across the highway. and it was gone into the woods because that road that they go in on is nothing but woods on either side. She said that whatever the creature was was taller than a Tahoe.

I think she said a foot taller than a Tahoe, which my wife owns a Tahoe, and that's, I was going to say, around seven and a half feet tall. I mean, I'm almost six foot and that's still taller than me, the Tahoe. Yeah, using the Tahoe for size comparison, and that thing must have been huge.

The weird part is all this is happening in this one area, going back to what your dad had told you what happened in the 80s. I know you said he had another coworker that shared something with you. So this guy was, he's a hunter, big hunter, like me. And he was going to his tree stand after work because I think he worked 6 a.m. 2. 6 a.m. 2 p.m. and he went out to hunt at 3 p.m. And he was walking to his stand, tree stand, and he got to an area about 30, 35 yards away from the tree stand. And it turns into this scrub area, which scrubs basically are when they cut the trees down and all these little trees grow up to be about three foot tall.

And they're kind of stunned in growth because they don't get enough sunlight from the bigger trees around. he was walking towards a tree stand and he caught something out of the corner of his eye, you know, like a black shape. And he's thinking, oh, there's a black bear. And he looks over and next thing, this big black silhouette of a creature stands up. And he's just like, oh, that's not a bear because it stands up. And he said it almost had like human like appendages. and then he saw enough and took off to the truck and drove home and didn't go back out hunting for a little bit.

Yeah, I think it's super cool that, you know, you're in law enforcement and you're getting other law enforcement people to come forward and tell you what they saw. And law enforcement's like the military. I mean, unless you're part of it, for the most part, people aren't going to tell you anything. But if you're in, they're more apt to share with you. You know, I ask everyone on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is? What's your take, Zach? What do you think that these things are? I would have to say it's something that we don't know what it is.

I mean, it almost baffles you with how people describe different types. And, you know, some people say it's more of a paranormal thing or, you know, spiritual. I think it's a flesh and blood creature. I don't think it's anything spiritual or anything like that. I think it's something running around that we just can't get our hands on for some reason. And I don't know if it'll ever happen in my lifetime. But it's definitely something that has intrigued me and it just keeps me on my toes. Yeah, it's definitely a mystery for sure.

It's hard to really know what these things are. And the subject will keep you on your toes for sure. you had sent me pictures of this trackway, and I'm looking at them now, and I'll post them underneath this episode up on the website so everyone can kind of see what we're talking about. But tell me about this trackway that you found. I think they were from 20s. I think they're January of 2017. So my uncle was walking his dog.

So I belong to a gun club. We own about 900 acres And there's a trail that goes through it It used to be railroad tracks But they took out all the railroad tracks And now it's like a public walking area And it goes through like the whole county And he was walking his dog

And he got onto the trail And there was just like a light coating of dust Snow dust on the ground He's like holy crap And this is my uncle that totally believes in it Like I do He looks down and he's like You've got to be kidding me

like this is this is no way and he calls me I come down and uh you know I take measurements of a feed and it was really astounding I mean the the tracks were like how many people say they were you know right in line with each other they're heel to toe but they were I think they range from like 14 or 15 inches and then the from one track so from the toes to the heel of the next track were almost five feet. I think they're like 58 inches apart. And they, we got a good, I'd say 20 or 25 tracks in the snow before the snow wasn't there anymore. And then the other freaky thing was it doubled back. So you could actually see it turn around. I don't know if it saw someone on the trail or it saw my uncle coming out of the woods down by the pond where

it was next to. And it doubled back. And you could see it walk back. And you could see it walk back. you know, close to where its other tracks were, and then it cut up into the adjacent field and went into a cornfield that we own, and the tracks disappeared because there was no more snow. Yeah, I'm looking at them now. They're definitely compelling, and I'll put them underneath this episode if people want to check it out.
