Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1067 Bigfoot And Ghost Encounters
Episode Date: June 23, 2024Kenny writes "I had an encounter in 2005 about a week after hurricane Katrina. I'm from a small town about an hour north of New Orleans called Ponchatoula. We didn't get any structural damage but we d...id get a lot of downed trees. I was about ten years old and living with my grandparents. For the next couple of weeks after the storm me and my grandpa would clear as much of the trees and other crap out of the yard. After a few days we were starting to run out of clean clothes so my grandma had me go out to the pond in our backyard to get some water so that she could boil up and wash some clothes in this big 55 gal pot we had (typically used for crawfish) because we still didn't have any power. I didn't think much of it and went out there with some buckets. For some backstory we only lived about 3 miles aways from Manchac Swamp and were surrounded by pine forest except for the 7 acres of land we lived on which was clear except for about 30 pecan trees. Anyways, when I went down the bank I heard a bunch of noise like trees crashing from the other side of the pond. I started watching over there and then what I thought was a bear came out of the woods and stopped at the opposite side of the bank. I knew we had a few black bears in the swamp but had never seen any so I just stood still to watch it. After what felt like a few minutes I saw it reach into the water and snag up a catfish (cats were the only fish we kept stocked in the pond). Being a 10 y/o who loved nature I thought that was pretty cool until it stood up and stretched. The kind of way someone who just woke up would with its arms reaching up to the sky. I could see that it still had the catfish in its hand. Seeing that thing stand up I froze. I don't think it ever noticed me because as soon as it got done stretching it simply turned around and went right back the way it came. After a few minutes when I couldn't hear it anymore I just ran inside and needless to say we didn't get any laundry washed that night. I never saw or heard anything else after that but yeah that's my story and just thought that I would share." Dusty writes "I've been thinking about writing you for a while now but haven't committed to the idea yet; well here goes. I have had many strange encounters with paranormal and supposedly "unknown" or at least "unpublished" entities. I had a sasquatch road crossing encounter when I was a kid. It was pretty basic, it just ran across the road in the middle of the night while I was out with a cousin of mine. I was 12, and my mom had passed away in March of 2000, and this encounter was close to the 4th of July. After my mom died I was kind of on my own most of the time, and would get dumped off with various people from time to time because I wasn't welcome at "home". Life was pretty traumatic at the time looking back, and maybe that's why that encounter didn't really stick with me to be honest. It happens at night, probably around 0100-0300 in the morning, I had been with an older cousin of mine who was more of a child than I ever realized, and he never really grew up. But when you're 12 and life goes tits up you don't think about those things. I would hang out with him and his drunken friends a lot and cruise back roads and things like that. I started learning to drive because they're getting drunk and stupid and I'd drive people home. We were going to his house from a local lake one night, and a sasquatch just crossed the road in front of us, probably in 3 east steps, and walked into a big field headed for a creek. I turned in my seat and watched it for a few seconds. We made it to the highway and turned and headed for town in shock. We made it to his house and I didn't think I slept much, and I was just flabbergasted the next few days. But nobody cared to notice, and my cousin was so drunk and hungover he didn't remember what happened. The creature was massive, bulky, tall, upright Harry and the Hendersons looking critter. It was a breathtaking experience and it happened so quickly that it almost didn't register for a while what we saw. We both just looked at each other, wide eyed and pale as could be. I remember saying we just saw a bigfoot!!! But that was about the end of that encounter. I went into the Marine Corps at 17, and was stationed in Washington DC in late 2006, at a ceremonial unit that marches funerals in Arlington, Presidential ceremonies, among other important ceremonial jobs for the Marone Corps. Our barracks was "out in town" as we didn't have a formal "base" it is just a small post just north of the navy yard. It is the oldest post in the Corps, and has been in place since 1801. During the war of 1812 when the white house was burned by the British, the Marine barracks and Navy Yard were attacked and the Marine barracks supposedly burned down. From the stories I've heard several Marines were killed in the collapsed barracks. One night while on duty I was walking down the lower parking area, an underground secure parking garage under the barracks. I heard screaming and yelling coming from the locked, heavy steel door that closed off the electrical equipment room for the barracks. A secure concrete room with a heavy steel door. It sounds like dozens of people inside screaming and yelling to get out, rifles slamming on the door from the inside, and then it just stopped. The hair on the back of my neck stood on end, the temp dropped and it was so scary down there I just took off running. I hot the stairs well closest to me and ran up several flights of stairs in dress shoes, which isn't easy to do. I made it to my duty post and didn't leave for the rest of the night. Another night I encountered another spirit down there. Another "barracks ghost story" for which there was no shortage. A young girl had been run over one night playing with her ball on the ramp between parking levels. I was on duty walking the lower parking, and as I got closer to the ramp I could hear little feet slapping the concrete, a small girl giggling and a ball bouncing up and down the ramp. She was headed down the ramp to me as I ran past. That was the last time I was ever down there after dark alone."

It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind
and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up
and that shocked me.
They don't make people that big.
The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach.
I've never seen anything moves like that in my life.
They were screaming at each other in gibberish.
It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forward.
I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw were bears.
What happened what are you reporting?
Get somebody out here.
What's going on now, sir?
That's son of a bitch is about six of a six years.
Bitch is about six foot nine. I don't know.
Do you see a male, sir?
Yes, I'm looking right here.
Hi, this is Chris from Madison, Wisconsin, and you're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles.
Welcome to the show, everyone. Thanks for being here tonight.
Got a great show plan for you. Both of my guests tonight are either currently serving
in our military or have served as a veteran. Dusty's actually the veteran.
and both men had very brief Sasquatch encounters.
And as I was talking to them, they both had these obviously very different ghost encounters,
but scary ghost encounters.
So I asked if they would come on the show and share it.
Kenny's encounter happened in 2005, and I'll like Kenny go into it.
Dusty had an encounter in 2000, and this was in Oklahoma.
And again, I'll let Dusty go into it.
If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email.
My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com.
And if you get a chance to check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com, you can become a member and get additional shows.
Let's jump into it tonight.
I want to welcome Kenny to the show.
Kenny, thanks for coming on.
Hi, how's it going?
It's going well, ma'am.
It's going well.
Thank you for asking.
And Kenny, you had this encounter in 2005 in Louisiana, and I realized it's the 2000s.
But prior to seeing this creature, what was kind of your thoughts on the whole subject of Sasquatch?
Well, like I said, my email, I was raised by my grandparents.
My grandpa, he was from New Orleans.
So he was used to tell me things about like booger or the wild man, stuff like that all the time.
But I just kind of thought it was like ghost stories or camp stories, things just to freak me out.
So I never really thought that much about it at the time.
Well, if you would, take me back to 2005, kind of walk me into this encounter.
What were you doing and what happened?
Yeah, so it was about a week after Katrina.
And we were on the North Shore, so we didn't get a lot of like flood damage or anything like that.
But we had a big front yard with a bunch of country.
and the storm knocked down probably half of those.
So for about the entire week, we were out there.
My grandpa and our neighbors, they were cutting up the trees,
and we had this little four-by-four gator that they had me driving around with the trailer
to bring all the wood over to the burn pile.
It's always doing that for about a week, and after a while,
like, all of our clothes started getting really dirty.
So my grandma, she had me go get.
of this big, like 55-gallon pot that we have for crawfish, she had me go, she wanted me
go into our backyard to the pond to fill it up with some water so she could boil it up
and do some laundry in the pot. So I went back there to the pond and I go, I'm filling it up
and across the pond, which the pond is probably about the size of two or three football fields.
It's a pretty decent-sized pond. But on the other side, I just start hearing a bunch of
crashing sounds and whatnot.
And I look over there and I thought I'd
seeing a black bear come out from the other side
because I knew we had black bear just from like
different field trips and stuff I'd go on.
They'd say that there was black bear in the area.
So I thought it was pretty cool just seeing a bear.
So I'm just sitting there watching it.
And then I see it like reach into the pond
and it pulls up, I'm assuming it was a catfish.
And I'm like, wow, that thing just got a catfish.
And then as, like, as soon as I had that fault, this thing just stood up and it stretched, kind of like you would whenever you're waking up out of bed and you just stretch your arms over your head.
And when it did that, it, like, stood up on its legs and I could tell it wasn't a bear anymore.
And so I'm just kind of frozen watching this thing.
And, like, I could still see the fish in its hands whenever it was stretching.
And then it just got done with the stretch.
It put its arms back down, turned around, and I could hear the trees and stuff getting pushed over, or not pushed over, but like pushed to the side.
And it just went back into the woods.
Right after that, I kind of just like was frozen for a little bit.
But I ran back inside.
And obviously my grandma was asking me where the pot of water is.
And I told her about what I saw.
And she's like, oh, it's probably just a bear or something.
like that. Then I told my grandpa, he's like, I told you that bugger's out there. Like,
that's why we don't go out there that much. And I realize you're pretty young when this
happened. But if you would, Kenny, kind of describe what you saw. You know, obviously it wasn't a bear,
but from that day, what are some of the details that you remember? Yeah. So it didn't really
look like the Patty Bigfoot. It didn't, the best thing I've ever seen that it looked like,
was I'm not sure if you've ever seen the picture of the skunk ape, like behind the palm tree.
But that's what it looked like.
It had very long, shaggy black hair.
It was like right at dust, so I couldn't really make out a lot of features.
Like I couldn't make out like eyes or face or not that much.
But I remember I had really long arms.
And his legs, they were kind of stumpy.
Like the legs weren't long at all.
But the arms and the torso on this thing was massive.
But what I can remember most is the long, shaggy black hair.
It never looked over my way.
It didn't pay me any kind of attention.
But at that time, like, everyone all over the place didn't have no power.
So there wasn't, like, there wasn't hardly any cars on the street because all the gas stations were down.
but everything was like super quiet so I can't imagine that he didn't know I was there.
So the creature never really looked your way.
And I can imagine after Katrina, it was pretty quiet around there.
You know, your grandfather's talking about boogers.
And around this property, had you guys heard anything before?
I mean, how far away from the home are you?
So I'm right behind my house.
Like the pond is probably only about 10, the bank front of the pond is only about 10 feet from the actual house itself.
But the pond itself is probably, I'd say probably about 50 feet wide, about 4, 500 feet long.
And he's on the opposite corner of the pond.
So he's like two or three football fields away from me.
I got you.
So it's not like he's right on top of you.
And you'd mention that picture from.
Florida. And anyone, if you look up the Florida skunk ape, there's a picture of this creature.
It looks like it's behind a palmetto. And I would say it kind of looks like an orangutan.
Wouldn't you, Kenny? Yeah, that's what I'd say. Just, instead of orange, just black.
Yeah, and I think a lady took the picture and then sent it to the cops. And this was many years back.
But for the audience, if you want to go look it up, it's skunkie.
behind Palm Meadows. It's an interesting picture for sure. And I can understand why you would
say what you saw didn't look like Patty because that thing doesn't look like Patty at all.
And I realize your first thought is like, oh, it's a bear. And then you see it kind of stand up
on two legs and stretch after it grabs a fish. From what you saw that day, would you say it was
more primate, like a non-human primate, then not so much like a man? Definitely a primate.
Like, I've never seen a man with arms proportion like that.
Your grandfather, you know, him talking about boogers, did he ever have run-ins with them?
I'm not sure if he has personally.
He would always tell stories in like the third person kind of way.
So I don't know if he's ever had any.
He's told me that he's experienced weird things happening in the woods and hearing weird stuff,
but he's never straight up told me he's come face to face or have.
actually seen anything like it.
And I also want to ask you about your ghost encounter.
Both my guests and I have ghost encounters.
You have one and I know Dusty coming up.
He has a very strange ghost encounter as well.
But before we get into that, I wanted to ask you, you know,
I ask everyone on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is?
What's your take?
I've been thinking about this thing ever since I've seen it.
And I think it's some sort of animal, some sort of animal no one's discovered yet,
because I don't think some supernatural being or anything like that is going to be scooping up some catfish out of a muddy bank just for the fun of it.
Like this, I'm pretty sure this thing was planning out eating this.
If it's eating, it's a living creature.
I'd say animal.
like from what I saw it didn't have any like intelligent like human intelligent to it like it was just grabbing a fish out of the pond and then going back into the woods
yeah it is weird with Sasquatch you always hear you do hear bizarre things in people's encounters and then you have other encounters like yours Kenny where I know it was brief but this creature's coming down getting something to eat and going back into the woods um the go
Ghost encounter, what year did that happen?
So those happened, I think, in 2012.
It was the summer in between my junior year and my senior year.
It was right around when, like, all the ghost shows were real popular.
And me and my buddies, we decided that we wanted to become ghost hunters.
So what we would do is we just go drive around to different cemeteries and go walk around them in the middle of the night and see what we could get on our,
our little digital recorder and on this camera we had.
And so this one day we decided,
we found this new graveyard that none of us had been to before.
So we decided and we'd go scout it out,
just kind of get a lay of the land the day before we'd go out there
so we'd actually be able to see where we're walking.
My buddy had the digital recorder in his hand.
And I'm walking towards the back and my buddy,
he's staying up front.
And on the recorder, you could hear him say,
hey, man, I'm not feeling too good.
I'm going to go sit in the truck.
And then you can hear the thud of him sitting the recorder down on a headstone.
As soon as he does, in the recorder, you could hear a voice saying,
never return, like super clear.
And then as soon as that voice said that, I holler back to him.
I was like, okay, man, I'll be there in a minute.
And then as soon as I say that, the exact same voice comes back through and says,
last chance.
And so we're back at the house and we're all listening to this and we're like, wow, we've never gotten anything like this before.
So we all gear up.
We go back out probably about two, three o'clock in the morning.
We thought it'd be cool to do it during witching hour.
So we're driving down and we get to the back road that the graveyard was on.
And all of a sudden, one of my friends who was sleeping in the back, she just wakes up and says, keep driving, keep driving.
And so my buddy, he just floors and we drive and we go into a church parking lot because after that we're all a little freaked out.
And we all get out of the car, stretching our legs and stuff.
And everyone except the driver.
So I go up to him.
I was like, hey, man, I don't want to say his name.
But I'm like, hey, man, are you good?
And he's just like death gripping the steering wheel and just staring out.
Like, dude, just get out of the car a little bit.
Like, just relax, man, we're good.
And he looks at me and he tells me, like, get the.
a F away from me right now.
And this dude, he wasn't
the cousin type, like,
very devout Catholic.
Every time we went to
go somewhere, my man had like
two vials of holy water
and always cared a Bible. Like, he didn't
like to play around with the stuff, but he was our driver.
So,
I'm like, okay, man, what do you want
to do then? And he's like,
I just want to go somewhere. I'm like, okay, let's go back
to my house. So we all get back
to my house. And, um,
We all pile up into my room.
My three other friends, they all go into the bed, and they all pass out.
And it's only me and the buddy who was driving, who are still awake, and we're just sitting on the floor.
And I still have the lights on.
And he looks at me, he's like, turn off the effing lights.
I'm like, why?
He's like, just turn off the effing lights.
And so I turn the lights off.
And as soon as I do, that same friend who told us to keep driving, they wake up.
And, like, I'm seeing, as soon as I turn the lights off, like, I see shadows.
starting across the room and stuff.
And she wakes up and she's like, turn those lights on.
Turn those lights on.
As soon as I do, I look at my buddy and it looks like he had just had a stroke.
Like half of his face is like drooped down.
And he just looks at me and he's like, why'd you turn on those effing lights?
And then he slumps over.
And he raises us back up.
And he's like, when did we get to your house, man?
Like he just completely forgot about the entire night.
It almost sounds like he was possessed.
We're thinking something like that because, um,
I think we started playing with the stuff a little bit too much because that entire summer, like I said, we was going to graveyards almost every weekend.
And he changed, like the five of us were free.
We were going to graveyard trying to get evidence and stuff.
And like we would get weird stuff like hearing our names again called, like hearing laughing behind trees and stuff or getting scratches.
Like eventually it got too much for any of us.
And then we all just stopped.
I haven't been ghost hunting since.
Yeah, I don't blame me at all, man.
That's scary, especially what happened with your friend.
You know, you play with fire.
You might get burned.
What was the second incident that happened?
So this is completely separate from all the ghost hunting and stuff.
This just happened at my house.
But one night, so I'm the oldest of three kids.
And one night I walk out my bedroom.
and my sister's room was right across the hall from mine,
and then down the hall opened up into the living room and like the kitchen.
It was an open kind of thing.
And whenever I woke up in the middle of night to go to the bathroom,
I saw what I thought was my sister going to the kitchen.
And so I go to the bathroom and do my stuff.
And I walking out and I'm slowly realizing, like,
she shouldn't be awake right now because it's like three, four o'clock in the morning.
I'm like, she has school.
Like, I need to go tell her get back in bed.
So I go into the kitchen and like there's nothing in there.
Like the lights on, but there's nobody in there.
Nothing's been moved.
No, like there's just nobody in there.
And so I go back to my sister's room and I just kind of crack open the door and she is knocked out in her bed.
And apparently, so I'm in the military and after I left to go into the military, my mom had told me that everyone except my sister has seen.
someone who looks exactly like my sister walk through the house. Like to this day, they still see,
we call her my sister's twin, but they still see her like in my mom's house.
It's kind of weird. It's presenting itself as like your sister. You know, I always think that
these things have to be invited in, whether on purpose or on accident. But when did this whole thing
with this thing showing up that look like your sister? What kind of a time frame is as far?
when you were ghost hunting.
So that started
not too long after
me and my friends quit
ghost hunting. So I'm thinking that
I may have accidentally brought something.
But
my mom, like, she's
a Catholic and she's had
people come in and blessed a house
and do all that stuff.
And like none of it's worked.
Like, it's nothing malicious
or nothing like that. Like no one's been hurt.
Nothing's been moved.
people just at my mom's house, they just see this little girl walking through every now of then.
No one's ever seen the face. It's always she's going into a room that, like, or just out of the corner of eye, you see someone walking past you.
I think the spirits and stuff is just like us humans where there's good ones and there's bad ones and then there's just neutral ones.
And I think the little girl one we see, I think that might be like one of the good ones that is.
trying to keep away the malicious one that me and my buddies brought into the house that
one night because she didn't start showing up until after that night. So I think she might
just be kind of like a protector of some sort. Yeah, it's kind of hard to say. It's weird. It's
presenting itself as looking like your sister. You know, in life, Kenny, I'm not so sure
that I need a spirit to protect me from other spirits.
I mean, that's just kind of the way I look at it.
I respect the way he feel, though.
I mean, I guess this thing hasn't harmed anyone.
It just kind of is showing up.
I don't know that I would like that if it was my house.
You know what I mean?
I think I'd have a real problem with it.
But I guess your mom has tried to get rid of it.
I wanted to go back for a moment about the Sasquash that you saw.
You know, you're a pretty young one this has.
happened. You were 10 years old, and did it affect you at all later in life after seeing this
creature? Not really, because after I saw it, it was more of an interest than a fear.
Like, I was more curious about what I saw and wanted to learn more. And then I just start,
my grandpa, he eventually got annoyed about all the questions about boogers and I started asking
them about. But then eventually I just started watching, like, those old, uh,
Bigfoot documentaries they'd have on travel channel on Friday night, so I'd start watching all of those.
And then once the internet became a thing, I'd just start watching a bunch of YouTube videos and stuff like that.
That's actually how I found your podcast is just from doing research trying to figure out what I saw.
But as far as being scared, I've, like a month later, me and my brother was back in those woods playing Army together with paintball guns.
So it never really scared me.
And like I said in the email, that was the one and only time I ever seen anything like that.
Yeah.
And I know it was a very brief encounter, but, you know, these encounters where they're eating and doing normal stuff, or it's fascinating to me.
You know, you can argue all day long what Sasquatch is.
But it does appear to be very physical.
You know, people are terrified when they have up close encounters with this thing because
so big. And then you hear reports of them eating, you know, leaving trace evidence behind tracks,
that sort of thing. Then you hear the weird part with regard to Sasquatch, some of these bizarre
accounts of where it doesn't seem so physical. Hopefully one day we'll have answers. And I really
appreciate sharing the ghost encounter. It's a good warning for people out there. You know,
you might have something come home with you and you definitely have to be careful.
I know that you served our country, Kenny, and I want to thank you for your service to our country.
I appreciate that.
And I really appreciate you taking the time to come on, Kenny.
I really enjoyed chatting with you, man.
Yeah, I enjoyed being in one.
Thanks for having me.
Next up on the show, I want to welcome Dusty.
Dusty, thanks for coming on.
Thanks for having me.
Yeah, and you had this encounter back in 2000, and this happened in Oklahoma.
and we're going to talk about a few other things beyond this encounter.
If you would, Dusty, just kind of start from the beginning.
What were you doing and what happened?
Oh, man, it was like probably middle of the night, somewhere, you know, between midnight and three or so in the morning.
And it was right around the 4th of July, and I was just hanging out at the lake with a cousin and some friends.
And I was 12 years old that summer, and we'd just kind of been out fishing and hanging out at the lake.
we were headed back home and just driving, you know, towards the highway to head back into town.
And about a half a mile on this lake road before you get to the highway, there's a little creek bottom.
There's a lot of like, you know, small, I guess, retention lakes and whatnot in the area just from, I guess, during the Depression time, all that stuff was built.
But, you know, there's a creek that kind of flows between all these different lakes.
and we were leaving one lake and we were probably 10 miles east of there,
headed home or headed to the highway to head home.
And this thing just ran out in front of the road in front of us
and driving his little Ford Ranger.
This thing was just huge and it came out of the creek on the right-hand side,
so probably south side of the road we were headed east.
And it just ran a crossroad and probably three steps.
and it jumped the ditch or stepped over the ditch more likely,
but it ran through a big hayfield and went into the creek bottom
kind of at a diagonal angle towards the northwest,
and it was gone.
You know, the whole thing took a few seconds,
and I had turned around in the seat to watch it run across that field
as my cousin drove, but we got to the stop sign about half a mile away,
and I don't even think we stopped.
It was just kind of slowed down, good, and turned and hit the highway.
And we're both just looking at each other.
Like, what in the hell was that?
And I said I had heard stories as a kid growing up and watched Harry and the Hendersons,
and everybody just kind of played it off as a joke when I was a kid.
And the few people I had known that said they had seen these things were,
for back, lack of a better turn, they always seemed to be lying crackpots.
So I never thought they were real.
but, I mean, it was just gigantic ape-like thing.
I mean, it was built like a gorilla, but probably eight feet tall or so.
Maybe more.
It was hard to say, but I mean, I went across a two-lane paved county road in three steps real easy.
You know, as a kid, I had crossed that road several times going to the neighbor's place as a kid hunting and whatnot.
So I know it wasn't that easy just to walk across.
but I was just big and bulky and I was really black I remember that
even hitting it with the headlights and there's a lot of ambient light and a full moon
but it just it was just odd and big and it seemed unnatural
especially when you're used to deer and squirrels
how close did it cross in front of you guys
it probably crossed I would say within 50 yards
of us and it just went across like we weren't even there.
It's such strange behavior for such an elusive animal and a supposedly a highly intelligent
animal, but you hear about them doing this all the time.
They'll cross right in front of cars.
50 yards is pretty close.
And I don't get it because, you know, if they would wait five seconds, 10 seconds,
you would have never seen it.
did you and your cousin ever discuss this again?
Maybe once or twice when we were out hanging out cruising around because, you know, I do remember like a really weird odor and like a lot of people say it was just all kinds of nasty and indescribable, but it was like this odor was there and then this thing ran across the road and then you couldn't smell it anymore.
But there were a few times when we were out at the lake or driving around that you could,
smell something and it and who knows what it was it could have just been a dead animal but you could
smell something in the woods behind it like around the lake and places when there wasn't anybody
out there so i don't know and i've only smelled that smell a few times and it was one time that i know
i smelled it was when i saw that thing as a kid yeah the smell comes up it definitely comes up
when people have encounters, not as much as you might think, but it definitely comes up.
And it's interesting that the smell went away as a creature made his exit. And, you know,
I was talking to Rick on last night's show. He had an encounter out there in Alaska when he had
his dog Boe. And we were talking about the smell. And it does seem to be something that people,
you know, once you smell it, you remember it. Because he even had mentioned, you know,
Later on, I'd smelled that again.
Didn't see anything, but I definitely smelled that same smell.
I want to talk about this incident when you were in the Marines.
Before we go into that, you know, I like to ask everyone on the show, Dusty, what do you think Sasquatch is?
What's your take?
From just that one little thing, I would say it's, you know, just some big ape-like thing.
I have, I mean, I really have no idea.
And I'm from what I've heard on your show and some of the books I've read and things I've seen like documentaries, I know people have caught up with them in a lot of bad ways.
But to me, it was just a giant ape-like critter that was crossing the road in the middle of the night.
I mean, we were the only car on the road.
And like you said, if it would have waited, it would have just been, it would have been just fine.
We never would have seen it.
It's almost like, ha, ha, ha, here I am.
Yeah, I agree with you.
it kind of does feel like that.
I mean, it's almost kind of like a taunt or something.
You know, if you run out in front of a car, you know, people think you're crazy.
These things do it all the time.
And it makes you wonder why.
You might be onto something, Dusty.
Maybe it's their way of maybe taunting or a game or it's so hard to understand their behavior sometimes.
This incident that happened to you in the Marines, I want to talk.
talk about because some of the weirdest stories come from military people who served our country.
And these stories either come from the base or the barracks or even when they're serving in
a different country.
I've heard many weird stories from the Middle East.
But tell me about this incident when you were in the Marines.
Well, like I joined at 17 and then I kind of finished up school and I left home right after I turned 18.
I mean, I'd been 18 for like six or seven months, and it was after boot camp and infantry school.
But I was stationed in D.C. at the Marine Barracks in Washington as a ceremonial unit, did a few presidential ceremonies, one with the Queen of England at one time in the summer of 2007.
But mainly just march funerals in Arlington and do like arrival and departures for, you know, foreign dignitaries as they come in and out of the country.
but the barracks is, well, we're just north of the Navy Yard, and it's like a mile and a half southeast of the capital.
The Navy Yard and that post, like part of that Marine Barracks has been there since 1801.
They say it's the oldest post in the Corps.
And I guess, like, our barracks was an old renovated, like, five-story hotel, and it was on either side of, you know, a road.
and there's a big sky bridge in between.
We have, like, guards and all that stuff.
You know, I said, it's been there since 1801,
and there were stories that, you know,
it was burned along with the White House
during the War of 1812,
and I never really did much research on it,
but I've heard, you know,
all those barracks stories and stuff.
And at the time, they're just, like,
campfire ghost stories,
but there are stories of,
I guess,
when the White House was burned in the War of 1812,
there was a tunnel between, I guess, like the Navy Yard
and kind of the command post and the White House and all that area.
And some Marines have gotten trapped under there
and everything collapsed and they died in there.
And I guess where that hotel and future barracks was built,
there's two levels of underground parking.
And it was said that that tunnel area went through there,
I guess, I don't know, a long time ago,
but it's old barrack stories.
There's a big concrete,
vault electrical room
down in the very lower parking
and it's all secure
so nobody can get in this thing
and he was big industrial door
and I was on duty one night
and we have to tour the whole area
so I'm just like two in the morning
walking around by myself
on duty,
just kind of bored
and I thought I heard
some weird noises coming
from ahead of me
as I'm walking through this parking garage
and I get close to that utility, electrical room, whatever it is, a big industrial room,
and it sounded like there are people inside of it just banging and screaming to get out like they were trapped.
And I ran up there and I'm looking and there's probably three or four different types of locks on the door.
And I remember as I run up, I look down and I realized all I can see in the dust are my footprint.
So, like, obviously nobody's been in and out of this door in a long time.
And about the time I realized that, the noise quit.
And, like, everything just got really strange and eerie and quiet.
And I just took off running back upstairs.
And I didn't go back down there the rest of the night.
That's creepy.
You know, you hear what you think are people screaming to get out and there's no one there.
There was another incident.
because this wasn't the only thing that happened to you there, was it?
There was, and it was down in the parking on duty one night,
and we used to do a lot of, like, Friday night parades
during the late spring to early fall,
so they're at our command post,
and I don't, you could look it up if somebody wanted to,
but it's basically we just go on our dress blues
and kind of stand there while the drill team does their thing
and the marching band and everybody, you know,
and all the politicians can go watch.
that while they get a good feeling about spending money on us, I guess.
I don't know.
But it's just one of those dog and pony kind of military parade things we do every Friday
night there at our barracks.
I think it was during one of those Friday night parades, I think in the 50s, another
barracks story I had heard was, you know, the barracks CEO, the colonel or some colonel was
there and his daughter would play like bounce the basketball or something.
She'd just entertain herself.
while her dad was working on Friday nights,
somebody wasn't paying attention when they drove through there and ran her over.
And everybody said that little girl haunted the parking garage.
And every once in a while you would hear her like giggling and laughing and running and bouncing a ball.
And you always in one ear and out the other until you're down there in the middle of the night after a Friday night parade.
And you can hear her running up and down.
You can hear the whole thing bouncing her shoes slapping the concrete,
the ball, you can hear giggling.
And it just took off.
And I never, after that,
and the first after those two things,
like, I never,
I never went back down there after dark.
If we weren't, you know,
down there as a platoon or company,
like, at working or something.
Like, I never went by myself after dark.
Like, forget that.
Yeah, who could blame you?
I don't think I'd go back down there.
But you always hear about weird stories from,
you know, guys in the military,
from black shadows.
to black shapes and, you know, situations like this where you're hearing people screaming,
you go down there and there's nothing there. Or this little girl that, you know, you wouldn't think
a spirit presenting itself as a child bouncing a ball and laughing would be terrifying. But when
nothing's there, it is kind of scary. What's your take on these spirits? Do you really think
that's the spirit of the girl who got hit by that?
that car? I don't know. Like, I feel like, I never would have believed in the demonic stuff
until I moved in that. I will probably talk about that, but my old house that I moved in two years
ago, but I've watched so many of those ghost shows and all that stuff over the years. I've heard
of the loops and the reoccurring, you know, death loops and this and that. Maybe things are just
so tragic. They create an echo through time and space. I don't know. People talk about that,
string theory and all these quantum things.
I think we'll never understand this until it's our time to go.
But I don't know.
Like there's a lot of theories and I don't know what to make of it.
But I know when those things have happened,
I've felt a presence that just, you know,
looking back maybe didn't feel right, didn't feel human.
I don't know.
There's always been some darkness around it.
So maybe it's just,
you know, a tragic death creates an opening for something to come in here and create an echo and use it.
I don't know. It's just, I think, science and religion put together somewhere in the middle is
maybe some of these answers, but I have no idea.
Yeah, I guess you're right. I mean, we'll never know until we're gone. I just struggle with the
whole idea of, you know, God leaving a spirit of a child down there, down here, I should say.
bouncing her ball around for all of eternity.
Something about that doesn't sound right to me.
But, you know, who am I?
You brought up that haunted home that you had lived in.
And I know there was more going on in this home than what you experienced in the military.
This is in Oklahoma in 2018.
If you would, tell me about it.
What happened at this house?
So just a little bit before that, in 2016.
I'd gotten burned at a workplace accident and, you know, I was in the hospital and all that.
And so life was kind of tough for a while, but I got past that.
And it was, I actually signed on that house, November 10th of 2018.
And that's the Marine Corps birthday, November 10th.
So I just kind of thought that was cool.
But I got that place.
After I got everything squared away, but I was looking for a place.
and I didn't, it was within my budget, and it was out in the country.
It was a little over 10 acres.
The house was almost 2,900 square feet.
It was four bedroom, two and a half bad, had two living rooms.
I mean, it was stupid, big for just me and my daughter.
But it was within my budget, and it was covered in hardwoods.
So I figured, you know, I had chainsaws.
I was like, well, maybe I can get a sawmill and just lumber,
or get my own lumber from the place and fix it up.
and, you know, that never happened.
But that's kind of what I was going through my head when I was looking at the place.
But the first time I went out there with the realtor to look at it, you drive back into the property, kind of the back part of the place.
And the house over set a big creek bottom.
And it was just real pretty.
And I figured I could clear it and do the work.
But when we got out of my car and like realtor got out of his car and we walked up to the front of the house, I heard this at the time.
time, I didn't think much of it because life stress and whatnot, but this huge owl sounds,
like this massive hooting owl from behind the house. And for me, being a country guy and
finally looking at buying a place and out in the woods, I heard the owl, and I just like,
hey, that's cool. That's, that's a sign that maybe I found the right place. I don't know.
But we looked at it and I ended up buying it. It was okay for a little while. And I'd say after a few
months, little weird things would start happening. You swear you hear people, like when you're
trying to sleep at night. Sounds like there's somebody walking around in the house, but it's,
you know, maybe old houses make weird noises. But I remember I had three or four dogs at the
time, my two mastiff mutts, and they're not huge. Murphy, my biggest one, he's probably 80 pounds,
but they're Mastiff and Terrier mix, so they're kind of goofy.
Their personality is all Mastiff.
But I had them in my big pit bull Zeus, and they're always protective.
And I mean, if a possum comes out by the house, anything, they're going nuts, letting me know.
But that old house I remember laying in my bed one night, just about the time I'm trying to get to sleep, maybe 10.30, 11.
And, you know, there's a sun room on the south side of that house, so it's all.
glass and whatnot, but that's kind of where we came in and out of.
So there's a deadbolt on that door, and I always had it locked.
I always thought it was somehow something opening and slamming that door just over and over and over.
But, you know, that night I'm laying in bed, there's this massive pounding on the sunroom.
And it sounds like the whole sunroom is vibrating, all the glass and the frames.
and it's big thick glass
and they're like old oak frames
so the house is built in the
70s it's really pretty
sturdy I mean until
erosion happened and started
washing everything out but
you know at that time it was in pretty
okay shape
I remember just that pounding
on the sunroom and the dogs
would run in from my bedroom
all the way towards that side of the house
and the first time it happened
they ran in there and I guess they got a sight of something or something happened and like two
mastiffs in my pit bull would go running back to my bedroom which was in kind of the opposite corner of
the house and they would either like get in the corner or get in my bed and just like lay there
and cower and whimper and wine and I would go through the house with a shotgun and a flashlight
inside outside around everything looking for whoever whatever was making the noise and I've never
never saw or figured it out.
Once that started happening, it happened quite often.
And there were a lot like that happened.
And the way the kitchen was designed,
if you went into the kitchen and opened up, like,
one of the cabinets on the right hand end of the cabinets,
it would open and you could just pop it open.
And the weight of the door, you know,
would swing it completely open.
Like, it would never, you can never get that door to sit halfway.
It would either be closed or open, and I ended up putting a magnet on it because it would just pop open on its own all the time.
And it started being really weird, and I would notice that when it would open on its own, it would only open halfway and stay there.
And I thought that was strange because you could never get it to do that on its own, no matter how much I tried to mess with it.
but my daughter and I, Gracie, she was, she was probably nine, maybe eight or nine,
and we're in the kitchen, kind of getting ready to cook dinner.
And like all of a sudden, you know, we're mid-sittance talking about the weird things that go on in that house
and like the shadow people and shadow creatures and everything from mouse size to person size
and noises and all that and the cabinet doing its weird thing.
And as we're talking about the cabinet,
And I had put two, I'm not sure if you're familiar with like the Christmas lights you can put on a tin roof, like those circular really strong magnets.
I think they're close to neodymium strength.
They're pretty good.
But I'd put two of those magnets between the door and the cabinet on little striker plates.
And I had to pop it open pretty hard, like, you know, probably put eight or ten pounds of pressure into this door to get it to open.
And as we're sitting there talking about the thing opening on its own, even with those two magnets,
like the temperature in the kitchen dropped mid-sentence.
Like I could see my breath, mid-sentence.
The door opened, creaked slowly, stopped, and something started rattling around the glasses inside.
And we just took off and ran the other side of the house, like, what in the hell is going on?
But that happened.
That was extremely freaky.
Like, I had no explanation for it.
Yeah, it seems like a lot of eyewitnesses report the temperature dropping, how you were able to see your breath.
And I've always wondered why, why does the temperature drop like that, you know, in demonic encounters?
There was an incident in your email where you talked about your dog being attacked.
Right. And again, it was, you know, it was a big house.
So it's a chore to clean a big house.
And that's, I'm so glad I'm away from it for just a million and one reasons.
Like, I haven't had any strange encounters since I left the place.
And I think that's a big sign.
But, no, it was big house.
Gracie and I had spent, again, she's just a kid, but she always helped out chores and just doing every little thing.
She's always great, helpful, great in school, everything.
She's just a great kid.
We'd clean the house all day.
You know, and it started early in the morning and it was getting close to dinner time.
And we had just cleaned.
and done all the dishes, put them away, like everything was squared away and put away,
and we didn't want to thaw something out and make a big mess, and I didn't want to cook dinner.
So we decided to go into town.
No big deal.
I had kind of a fenced-in front yard, so when the weather was nice, I could just let the dogs run in and out while we were going, and there's no big deal.
That's what we did.
We went out or went out to dinner, kind of hung out, had a good time, and then went back home.
And as we walked into the sunroom portion of the house,
I just noticed a whole bunch of blood on the floor,
not like a ton, but there shouldn't be blood on the floor.
And one of the drinking glasses that Gracie and I had been drinking out of during the day
and then washed, dried, and put in the cabinet,
was in the middle of the living room floor in about 100 pieces.
And one of the dogs across his front foot, so kind of across that ankle area across his end step, was sliced open, and it looked like something had held him and just cut him.
And if he had stepped on the glass, you know, as a dog would, it'd be under his foot.
Or if they got it in his mouth, his mouth would be all caught up.
Like, I just, I don't see how he could cut that portion of his foot without something else happening.
and especially a broken glass that was in the kitchen cabinet when we left.
And it's 50 feet away, broken on the concrete floor in 100 pieces.
Oh, I see what you're saying.
It was cut across the top of the paw instead of him stepping on it like someone cut him or something cut him.
You know, it's strange.
I don't understand why, because you hear about people's animals being attacked,
you know, cats and dogs and why these.
things would have authority to attack an animal. Did you eventually leave? I mean, were you just
kind of fed up with this place and got out of there? That was a big part of it, but COVID happened,
and I went from working to not working and then fighting with the VA. And, you know, over course
of the year and a half, I eventually got my full disability 100% through the VA and all that
fun stuff. But I was so far behind on the house and the mortgage company wouldn't work with me.
So it was going into foreclosure.
And I had a selling it just kind of last minute, sight unseen to some folks.
And, you know, I got lucky enough to set my little trailer up at my new place, which is a lot closer to my daughter.
And that was a big part of it.
You know, she went to school probably 45 minutes away from where I was living in Stillwater.
So when it was our time together, I was driving just,
a ton of mileage back and forth.
And we always joke now that we spent like 80% of our time together in the done car.
So,
there's a lot of things.
The house is in bad shape.
And there's just a lot of things.
But that was the main driver.
Like,
I was going to leave one way or another because of most of that.
But it was just,
it was just nice that it sold and get rid of the financial burden and the debt that
went with it.
Yeah.
Sounds like it was a blessing that the bank wouldn't work with you.
and that you had to leave.
You know, I think I would have left.
I know it's easier said than done sometimes,
but, I mean, you know,
it makes you think about when people say,
these creatures will come up on banging on people's homes,
and they'll go, I thought the place was haunted,
because that stuff goes on, you know,
or you're hearing the owls or your name being called from the woods
or it's scary stuff.
It really opened my eyes,
when I had Pastor Randy on with, I think the show was called Confessions of a Pastor.
I learned so much from listening to him.
Blue my mind.
Everything you talked about was in that damn house.
Everything it seemed like, not to cut you off, but like that was where that all crap started to click for me.
And it just, oh.
Yeah, one of the things he brought up on that show was Black Cats.
And I always wondered why at Halloween, you know,
really any time a black cat is a bad omen. And, you know, he kind of explained it's not a cat.
It's demons. You'll generally see them out of the corner of your eye. And they're about the size of a
cat, sometimes smaller, sometimes bigger, you know, the shape of a man or even bigger. But generally,
the ones people see kind of dart in and out look like black cats. And you'd mentioned you had
seen these shadows. Was it something, I mean, was it apparitions?
or was it stuff you were kind of seeing out of the corner of your eye?
I saw cats, like exactly like you said, but I mean, everything from mouse size to person size and like big person size.
But again, I remember one of the dogs, I think it was Zeus, my big pit bull.
He was laying in the floor in like one of these, I was, you know, over to the side working on something doing something.
And this thing kept darting back and forth in front of him.
And he was wide awake laying there.
And I'm like, and I thought it was one of our.
outdoor tomcats and I was like
what's going on with that thing?
I wanted to kick it out and put it outside
because it was driving me nuts
and as soon as I turned around and looked it was
dawn and it was just
that was freaky and it was
when I listened to your show with that
the pastor
and like most of the stuff he started talking about
without it just started ringing
alarm bells in my head
and I think
I think that was about the time I started to
kind of tried to get out of that house
and it took
trying to sell it a few times, but, you know, it was as a complete, just total blessing,
getting away from it, not only, like, just the debt and the structural issues, but, like,
all the other stuff.
Yeah, it makes you wonder what was going on in that house or what would cause something
like that to happen in a house like that.
You know, obviously, you got it really cheap for a reason prior to moving in, you know?
It had been a foreclosure, and it had been vacant for a few years.
and I'd heard stories apparently the original owners that bought it.
It was like a psychiatrist and his wife.
They bought it in the 70s and built it.
And I heard some people that heard horrible things about him.
And one of my friends' wives was a hospice nurse.
And when I bought the place, like they came out to help you kind of fix it up originally and do some things.
So I could get insurance coverage on it, you know, patch a few holes and this and that.
but like she was saying how she had been there before and taking care of that old lady when she died
and how her husband was just there was something wrong.
Like every time he was around, he'd like sit in the corner and just watch and how he,
she always felt like really bad energy off of him.
So it makes you wonder like what I bought into.
What kind of remnants were there if somebody found a foreclosed house in the woods and did some satanic practice there while nobody was around.
like, I have no idea, but I've driven by the property once since I left.
And you get 10 feet from the property line on the dirt road and everything goes quiet and dark.
And it's just a dark presence.
And you get to the other side of the property and it's, you feel it's different.
Like, maybe it's just my energy towards the place.
But I truly think somebody invited something or something to live there.
And since the original owners died, it's been bought and sold.
several times and almost been foreclosed on and this and that. So I think it's too possessed and too
haunted to die. Yeah, sounds like it. I feel sorry for the next people that have to move into
that place, thinking they're finding a great deal. It's scary, man. You know, and I think I really
appreciate you coming forward to share it because I think more of this goes on than most people
think. And really, what do you do? It's you can't shoot it. You can't kill it. You're kind of at its
mercy for the most part. And it's your home. You know, where do you go when this is going on in your
home? And I really appreciate taking the time to share it. And I want to thank you for your
service to our country, Dusty. You know, as a civilian, thank you so much. I'm so sorry to hear
about your disability and being hurt. But thank you so much for serving our country.
Thank you. It's nice to hear people say thank you in a pleasant tone.
Yeah, absolutely. And thank you for coming on, Dusty. I really enjoyed chatting with you.
Yeah, hey, I appreciate it. And it's just nice to talk to somebody about this, that doesn't.
Call me crazy. Thanks again. And that's it for tonight, everyone. Remember, if you've had an encounter, shoot me an email.
