Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1119 The Flaming Gorge Creature

Episode Date: January 4, 2025

Early release, I will return on Sunday for the members. A listener writes "As a little girl my family would go camping at a place called "Flaming Gorge" it's in Eastern Utah. It's divided by a pretty ...huge Gorge (for Utah anyway) and has mountains all around it. I was somewhere between the age 4/5 when my family went down to the cliffs to Cliff Jump all day. This was back in the late 80's early 90's. Since I was so little I didn't do the cliff jumping with my siblings. I was allowed to play around the cliffs as long as I stayed in eyesight. This was a really safe place with families that just camped in designated camping sections. Well as little kids do, I was a wanderer. My Dad had given me a whistle in case I got lost so I could blow it and he'd know where I was. I was just walking along the cliffs (which wrap around the entire Gorge) playing like little kids do. I obviously wasn't paying attention, so when I looked up I realized I couldn't see my family, and I could no longer recognize the cliffs. It started getting darker and darker until dusk hit. I was blowing my whistle but no Dad came running. I remember being pretty close to the cliff edge but kind of hidden in the trees. I remembered that I wasn't supposed to move once I got lost. Right around sunset I noticed all the sounds had stopped. I couldn't hear the waves crashing along the cliffs, the bugs had stopped chirping, and the trees stood silent. I could feel something watching me. I remember looking across the Gorge (about 100 feet) and saw this big black creature on 2 legs that resembled a gorilla I'd seen at the zoo staring at me. I'll never forget the fear that came over me. I remember it's eyes, and the meanness in it's face so distinctly. I instantly stopped blowing my whistle and I just crouched down, covered my head in between my legs and just begged God to send my Dad to me. I'll never forget the next moment. It felt like it took a lifetime but like it happened instantly at the same time. Arms wrapped around me and my dad's voice whispered "keep your eyes closed and be quiet" and he took off running. I just clutched onto him until the noises came back before I dated look up. I remember him calmly telling me that I was okay, and I was safe. It took us forever to get back to camp because by the time we got there, the sky was black, and EVERYONE from the entire campground was searching for me with flashlights. I don't know how but apparently I had been gone since about noon and it was between 830 and 9 from what my family and Dad have told me. My brother's and Dad remember it vividly. My Dad remembers the creature and my brothers remember me being lost. I'll never forget it. I'll mostly never forget the fear and his eyes."

Starting point is 00:00:00 It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up and that shocked me. They don't make people that big. The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything moves like that in my life. They were screaming at each other in gibberish. It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forward.
Starting point is 00:00:54 I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw were bears. What are you reporting? Jesus Christ, you better. Care? See them. Hello. Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir?
Starting point is 00:01:21 That's sort of a bitch is about six foot nine. I don't know. Do you see him now, sir? Yes, I'm looking. And I'm Mercedes. We're looking for a guy with big feet, six eight, brown eyes, always hides. We found him on our favorite podcast. Happy New Year, everyone.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Thanks for being here. Got a great show plan for you. We'll be speaking with Jill. And Jill's from Utah. She had this encounter in a place called the Flaming Gorge. It's kind of in eastern Utah when she was a child. This happened back in the late 80s. It's a terrifying account. But 34 years later, her parents bought this huge ranch on the opposite side of the mountain where Skinwalker Ranch is. She describes an encounter with other witnesses, including her father, her mother, her husband, And I'll kind of let her go into it tonight. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com. And if you get a chance to check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com, you can become a member and get additional shows.
Starting point is 00:03:02 You know, I've been fighting this weird, strange cold for about the last two weeks. And they see it's whooping cough, but it's a weird cold. It's a very strange cold. I won't go into complaining about it. But I was talking to, or maybe it's too late for that, but I was talking to Brent from the Paranormal Portal podcast. And he had asked me if I'd been through any strange weird fog recently. And I have a mountain, you know, basically in my front yard.
Starting point is 00:03:32 In the Pacific Northwest, we'd call it a hill. But, you know, it always has fog on it in the morning. But to me, it looks like normal fog. Have you guys heard about this? mysterious global fog that people are seeing. People describe it thicker than normal fog. It has kind of a weird smell and kind of leaves a weird taste in your mouth. All right, so it's crazy foggy right now, but that's not the weird part. Okay, like number one, it's weird because as it gets later in the day, fog should light and dissipate. And it's really not. But the
Starting point is 00:04:17 weirdest part is the taste and smell it smells like after you set off a bunch of fireworks and like the taste of the air is i mean the only word i can think of is toxic it's super weird and so i'm going for my walk and it's it's kind of worrying me a little bit let me know if you guys are experiencing something like that that's weird yeah i mean it smells smells not right and I've you know I mean I'm 41 I've been through fog this is something different and I will say that that fog does look strange behind that guy I know you guys can't see it but that fog does kind of have a weird appearance but I don't know if anything's going on there's there's a ton of videos of people showing this hopefully
Starting point is 00:05:11 it's people's imaginations I'm no so sure though and very sad news two Oregon men were found dead in Washington State after they failed to return from a trip. They were looking for Sasquatch, and it's a 59-year-old and a 37-year-old, and it appears that they died from exposure. In Skamania County, two Portland men lost their lives while searching for Bigfoot, reported by our sister station in Portland. On December 25th, the Skamania County Communications Center received a report at 1 in the morning. The report said two overdue people had planned.
Starting point is 00:05:48 plan to return home on Christmas Eve. A family member reported them missing and endangered. A flock camera helped locate the car associated with the missing men, leading rescue coordinators to Oklahoma Road. That's right near Willard, Washington. A 59-year-old and 57-year-old man were discovered in a heavily wooded area right off the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. And for the locals, they were kind of above,
Starting point is 00:06:14 they were north of Carson White Salmon area. in the Gifford Pinchot. You know, I didn't know the guys, and I don't know why this event is weighing on my soul, but that area is no joke. I know the area well from my days of hunting, and I even got lost up there for a moment. It's not hard to get stuck.
Starting point is 00:06:35 It's not hard to get hurt or worse than that area. And I think about the time these guys went up there is when that major storm hit us. Very tragic. Always go prepared. Now to some important rescue gear, really helpful stuff here. It was actually stolen. And the timing of this stands out as it happened hours after two Sasquatch hunters were found dead.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Ariel Sok joins us live now outside the storage trailer where that was targeted in Skamania County. And Ariel, what's the latest here? This is where the thieves cut through the fence crawled through to steal life-saving gear, thousands of dollars worth of it. We never actually really thought that anybody would target like life-saving equipment like this in a search and rescue, like plainly marked search and rescue. The Skamania County Sheriff's Office search and rescue team spent three days searching for the missing Portland men who tragically died while looking for Sasquatch in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest on Christmas. Everybody went home after that Friday night and rested Saturday. We're all pretty exhausted after that. The next day, they found nearly all of their team's rescue equipment was stolen. To have this happen to them after they spent Christmas out in the field searching for people
Starting point is 00:07:53 and returning their loved ones is disgusting to me. Items including custom wilderness medical kits for remote emergencies, rescue kits for hypothermic patients, and an automated external defibrillator. This is stuff that we actually, it's our lifeline. It's what we use to try to bring people out safely. They're only valuable to other rescue agencies, and rescue agencies don't buy this stuff secondhand. The rescue team says they are all volunteers and don't receive funding from federal, state, or local governments. Every piece of equipment, training, and missions are made possible by donation.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Oh, it's devastating for us. We use this equipment all the time. And because they are so small and the work that they do, they were unable to receive individuals. insurance on their equipment. We use this equipment all the time. We've had seven mission call-outs in the last eight weeks. The fact that this was stolen makes it really hard for us to be mission ready. If you'd like to help them rebuild, their GoFund meet is posted on our website at coin.com.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Reporting as Comania County, Ariel Salk, Point six news. Who steals in the first place, but who steals from search and rescue? It's starting to lose my faith in humanity. This isn't really how I wanted to do. wanted to start off 2025. Let's jump into it tonight. I want to welcome Jill to the show. Jill, thanks for coming on.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Absolutely. Thanks for having me, Wes. Yeah, and you had this in Canada. We're going back to the late 80s in Utah. If you would, just kind of start from the beginning. What were you guys doing? And what happened? Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:34 So my family, there's this massive gorge. It connects to the Green River. There's a lot of cliff jumping around there, a lot of camping. We did a lot of camping growing up. And so Mustang Ridge is a specific campsite that is seated close to these cliffs that range anywhere from 10 feet up to 100, 120 feet. As a little girl, I was not jumping off the cliffs with my siblings. I have three older siblings. My twin brothers are six years older than I am, and my sister is five years older than I am.
Starting point is 00:10:13 And so preparing for this trip, my dad had purchased me a whistle. And this place was really safe. And so as a kid, since I wasn't doing the cliff jumping with my siblings, I was allowed to kind of just play around the cliffs as long as I kept my family in sight. And so as, you know, little kids do. I was wandering and just picking up rocks. I loved the rocks up there, the gorge. It's kind of all red with really brown rocks and a lot of kind of brush and pine trees,
Starting point is 00:10:53 kind of an enclosed but open space as well. As I was just kind of wandering, I remember looking up and realizing that I no longer could see my family, but not only could I not see my family anymore, I wasn't recognizing the cliff range. And so this gorge is the cliffs go all the way around it, but there's this specific set of cliffs where the cliff jumping was because it was safe enough to do it there. And I was familiar enough with it because, I mean,
Starting point is 00:11:28 we had been down there for days. I knew the area well by this point. And I knew that I was lost. So it was it was starting to get kind of dusk. I mean, I noticed it was starting to get a little darker. And I, my dad had told me when, if you get lost, you stay still and you just blow that whistle. And I'll find you. And so I was still along this cliff edge, but these cliffs were really high up.
Starting point is 00:12:04 So I was still kind of, I would say probably 15, 20 feet away from the cliff's edge, but I could see, you know, over the cliff's edge and into where the gorge was. And on the opposite side, probably about, from where I was about 150 feet was the space where there was still water. and the cliffs picked up on this opposite side, and I could see very clearly over that. So I just kind of sat down and started blowing my whistle, and the first thing I noticed was I couldn't, the waves kind of had stopped crashing,
Starting point is 00:12:50 like I couldn't hear the sounds of the waves hitting the cliffs, and then the bug noise dropped, and the trees stopped swaying, and I just remember it being silent and very eerie. And as my heart starts to race, because this is such a vivid memory. When all of the noises went silent, I felt being watched.
Starting point is 00:13:23 We're all very familiar with that feeling of when there are eyes on you, when something's watching you. and a person's watching you and something's watching you. And I felt that. And I stopped blowing my whistle. And I looked up and across this gorge, like I said, about 100 to 150 feet, I saw what to me looked like an ape that I had seen at a zoo.
Starting point is 00:13:58 but it was standing like a man and and it was massive and it was black and dark. It had these piercing orange, almost amber. They felt fluorescent eyes and they just pierced into me. Like I felt such utter horror fear that. that I can't even describe. And I remember I, as a little girl, crouched down, put my head in between my legs and my hands over my head and my ears and just sat there. I was terrified and just praying that my dad would find me. I'll never forget that, just being like, find me, dad.
Starting point is 00:14:57 and it must have, I don't know if it was minutes, if it was seconds, if it was, I don't know how long it was, it felt like forever, but it also felt like it was instantaneously. These hands scooped me up and told me to keep my head down and to be quiet that I was safe and he took off running and it was my dad. and he had found me, scooped me up, clearly had seen what I had seen, and just so swiftly took off running. And I remember the noises of the forest hadn't come back yet. It had to have been, man, what seemed like, it probably was not more than a minute, but it seemed like a lot longer than that as a little girl before the noises came back and before I finally had the courage to look up and see my dad's face. And he just kept saying as he was running and west he was running in the opposite direction of this creature is so fast.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Like it was it was this urgency that I knew that this was dangerous and we needed to get out of there quickly. And so as the noises started to come back and I looked up at him, I remember just clutch him like he was my, he was my Superman. He had come and saved me from this creature
Starting point is 00:16:36 that he was just evil. And I say he because I just remember, it was, it was it wasn't that I saw genitalia or anything. It was just clearly a man. It was clearly muscles his
Starting point is 00:16:52 It's like the muscles, the way the body was built, it was clearly a male creature. But I didn't know what it was. So as we were running back, I remember it took a long time because what happened at dusk and before we finally got back to the campsite, it was dark.
Starting point is 00:17:14 I know that when we finally got back, the streetlights of the campsite were on because they had little streetlights. and everyone was out searching with their flashlights. Everyone, the entire camp site was out searching for me. And we got back and my dad put me down and my brothers came and asked if I was okay. And I remember my dad was just, he was clearly shaken and he and I have spoken of it since then. He's actually, he will only speak about it with me.
Starting point is 00:17:51 me because I think it's still terrifying for him to see what he saw and to fill what I felt. And I know that if I felt what I felt for him to be taking his child out of this and running, that he had to have been terrified. And I remember I got back to the camp. My brothers were around me. my mom was I mean she was hysterical she was so great if I was back but I remember my dad went for a walk he just he just had to go and walk by himself which is it's very like my dad and he he processes things along and we didn't we didn't speak of it um in really details just that I
Starting point is 00:18:44 that whole rest of that trip he made sure that I wasn't out of sight and that we didn't go back anywhere near that area I don't know how far I was I don't know where I was I don't know how he found me but we stayed very close to camp
Starting point is 00:19:05 we stayed very close to the cliffs and it was just a very like he was very cautious for the rest of that trip Geez, what a scary encounter. I kind of want to ask you about descriptions, kind of what you saw. Before I do that, you know, in the very beginning you were talking about the force going quiet, and a lot of eyewitnesses experienced that, and I know what you mean, but I think sometimes people listening think,
Starting point is 00:19:34 oh, it just gets quiet because there's a predator around. Would you kind of describe that silence? Yeah, absolutely. So I'm a country girl. I was raised out in the forest. We did camping, everything. So you're very familiar with the sounds at least I am. But if I was explaining it to someone, you hear crickets, you hear chirping, dusk is falling.
Starting point is 00:19:57 There's a breeze in the air. And you can hear that breeze. I mean, you hear wind. You hear the trees. You hear the bristles of the trees as they bristle. You hear the noises of whatever. animals might be going to sleep or coming out at that time of night. And in a scourge, because of where I was, the waves, you can hear the waves crash against
Starting point is 00:20:24 the cliffs very, very clearly. So there's a lot of noise, which is why, you know, I had that whistle. You blow that whistle. It's going to pierce up above all those noises so that my dad would be able to hear me no matter where I was, right? And so as everything went silent, it was almost like one step after one step would just slowly turn off, like you're turning so the
Starting point is 00:20:53 the crickets were going on mute and then the waves were going on mute. And then the last thing that that stopped was the movement in the air and the wind. And And when the sounds of trees and that nightly wind coming up off the gorge stops, it's an audible stop. It's an audible mute. It's a very loud silence, if that makes sense. And you can fill it throughout your entire body.
Starting point is 00:21:33 It's almost like your brain, it's almost like you're underwater. and your brain's not understanding why it can't hear sounds. So it's almost a distortion of this is not normal. This is different. And I don't understand why it's gone silent. Did that answer the question? Yeah, it does. I think describing it like being underwater is probably one of the best descriptions I've heard.
Starting point is 00:22:05 You know, when I talked to a lot of kids, off the air, you know, small children, they'll describe it like a gorilla. You know, they'll call it gorilla man or monkey man. And I realize all of this happened to you very, very quickly. But when you were looking at this creature, what were some things that kind of stood out to you? Would you kind of describe what you saw? Absolutely. But no, I'm, no, I'll never, I'll never forget the face specifically. And I think that I felt more immediately like a gorilla man because of the shape. But the face was not, was not of an ape.
Starting point is 00:22:49 You're familiar with the dogmen versus Sasquots, right? They have more of a snout, just more of a canine mixed with. a human mix with an ape face. It's just, it's a different, it's almost like, it was almost like closer to a werewolf face than an ape, but more of like an ape body. Like, like, if that makes sense. So it was, I remember it was, it was huge, it was huge. And I, I remember the chest on it.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Like I remember thinking, and that's why I thought of gorilla man, because you know how gorillas have that big chest that they pound, right? Like that big chest that you can see. And I remember seeing like that dark, dark muscles and covered in hair. But it was just, it was massive. It was massive. And as it was standing there, it just, there was no way because of how it was standing. it clearly wasn't innate.
Starting point is 00:24:01 And even as my little girl brain, I knew that's not a zoo creature. It's also not a man, but I don't know what it is. I just know that it looks similar to certain things. It didn't look like a bear to me. As I've grown up and a lot from your show and just on YouTube and looking at these creatures, it resembled more of of the dogman's snout kind of face,
Starting point is 00:24:36 but just huge and musly and ripped and kind of not like super furry like a bear. I mean, it wasn't that. It was just kind of, it looked like scraggle, like shaggy, like a, like I don't even know how to phrase this. Like the hair was longer and unkempt. It was just dirty and rugged and clearly an animal of some sort, but also clearly had features of a human. Oh, I got you. Yeah, when I read through your email,
Starting point is 00:25:17 I was kind of thinking it was a Sasquatch, but you actually ran into a dogman. Yes, yes, West. That's exactly what it was. And I say that just because when you see a side comparison and I know what I saw, it is burned, like I talked about yesterday, it is burned into my brain. It's burned into my being. I will never forget what I saw. And it was terrifying because it was not the only thing.
Starting point is 00:25:53 It was like, where did you come from? not of this world. I couldn't, I couldn't understand it in my brain. And, and my dad, as we've talked about it over the years, it's very, very difficult for him to talk about because it causes him fear to talk about it. He, he remembers the eyes. He remembers that it looks like more of a werewolf than a bear or a gorilla. It was just that kind of features, if that makes sense. Like, we both, it was terrifying. It was, it was a creature that shouldn't exist in this world, and yet it did, and I
Starting point is 00:26:40 couldn't make sense of it. And you mentioned the eyes being kind of a reddish color. Were those eyes glowing, or was it more or less kind of like a reflection? they weren't red, they were like an amber color. They were kind of a mix of yellow and orange. So I guess that's red, but more of like an amber color. And no, they were, because it was dusk. It wasn't, the sun was not, the sun wouldn't have hit it like that.
Starting point is 00:27:11 It was like I could see them as if they were flashlights super close to me from so far away. Like they were, they were glowing. They were piercing. They were, they were terrifying. They were bright. They were shining. They were, and they were terrifying. Yeah, sounds like it.
Starting point is 00:27:36 Did the creature make any sort of movements or any sort of gestures towards you? Or was it, did it seem like it was just a shock to see you as you seeing it? No, it was not shocked. to see me. It had, it was very apparent that it was watching me that, that it was predatorial. He didn't, I don't remember any movements, but I remember when, because, so let me see if I can describe this. So it's not that he was crashing down because he didn't, when he, when he made a full step up, he didn't, he didn't get that much taller. So it wasn't that he was crouching down, that he was kind of hunched because he was keeping in line with the trees that were by him because he was
Starting point is 00:28:26 hiding back in those trees, if that makes sense. So when I saw him, first, like I told you, I felt him. I felt being washed. But because he was kind of camouflaged with the shade of the cliffs, the trees that were around him. It was kind of like he was shaded. So when he stood up or stood to full length when we made eye contact, because it was when we made eye contact that it was, okay, now I'm going to show you 100% who I am or what I am. It wasn't that he moved towards me. It wasn't that he, you know, moved his arms or ran towards me or made a movement. It was just a simple from kind of crouching
Starting point is 00:29:17 down maybe what like five, six inches to a very visible step up to the point where he was like, this is me. This is, I see you. You see me and it's very, very obvious that I see you. And it was predatory. It was, I don't know what he was thinking, but it was dangerous. Like I knew that I was in danger. I felt it.
Starting point is 00:29:50 And that's why I tried to get as small and down to the ground as possible because I was trying to hide so that he couldn't see me. But I remember even after I crashed down, like I still remember that visible just staring at me, which is why I put my head in my hands and covered my ears because everything about it was so scared. that I was trying to get as small and little as possible so that he would just stop looking at me. And I didn't want to make eye contact with him again because it was that. It was almost like an instinct with him. Like it was something that he was ready to come after me. Yeah, it was predatory and instinctual.
Starting point is 00:30:42 That's the only way that I can describe. it and how it felt. Yeah, your dad really is Superman. My child or any child or my dog, Teddy, that would be the extent of the list of people I would get in front of, or get in between a dog man and someone else. I mean, anyone else, you're on your own. Godspeed, I wish you well.
Starting point is 00:31:05 But your dad really is Superman. I mean, later in life, did he tell you what, from his perspective, what he saw? So it was interesting. So we've only talked about this a handful of Times West because like I said, it's very, it's hard for him to talk about. But he remembers feeling that he needed to get me out of there. He remembers it wasn't that he heard my whistle and he's brought this up. He said that I just, it was almost. like I was being led to where you were because he said there's no way that I should have found
Starting point is 00:31:53 you. There was no way. I don't think I mentioned this. We went down to Cliff Jump at around 1130 noon and by the time that he or that this happened was dusk. So that was a lot of time that I not only have wandered far off but was lost and just missing. in action, right? I was just gone. And he, he remembers that he just felt like he was being guided to exactly where I was. And when he found me and he sought, he said, I needed to get out of there.
Starting point is 00:32:35 We needed to get out of there immediately. We needed to get out of danger because he felt that danger. He felt the silence in the woods. He felt, um, because he's even called it an audible silence that that that feeling that you feel with every bit of your body and um the only thing that he could think of he didn't have he didn't have a gun on him or anything he wasn't expecting to come upon this in the woods you know he was he was looking for his baby girl and so when he saw this and he saw me terrified he's his first instinct was to protect me And that's always been my dad when it comes to me, like make her feel safe and I will deal with whatever I have to deal with and will make her feel safe. And so when he told me like, don't look up, just keep your eyes down like we're going to go.
Starting point is 00:33:30 That's all he was thinking was I need to get her out of here and me out of here now because this is scary. This is dangerous. And I am not equipped to handle whatever that is that I just saw. Yeah, that's terrifying. You know, almost every witness I've spoken with, the first thing they say when they talk about seeing this dog man, and I wish we had a different name for it, but the first thing they always say is, you know, I felt like it was going to kill me. It felt evil. It felt demonic. That's a scary account.
Starting point is 00:34:04 It really is. Tell me 34 years later, your folks buy a ranch. and I know that you guys had seen something out there. We're going back to 2023, if you would start from the beginning and kind of walk me into this whole encounter. Okay, so my parents, when they retired, bought a ranch. It's between 150 to 200-acre ranch down in southeast Utah. It's called Spring City. and interesting enough, the mountain range that connects with the flaming gorged mountain range
Starting point is 00:34:48 and up through Bernal is the same mountain range that connects with my dad's ranch. It also connects with, it's the same mountain range that will feed into the Skimwalker Ranch. I'm familiar with that, which I know you are. So it's a, it's this whole long eastern Utah kind of mountain range. So when I say mountain, it's not mountain like if you've ever been to Utah, like the Wasatch Mountains. This is more, this is more a lot of like boulder fields. So a lot of boulders with sagebrush pine trees, steep, steep rocky surfaces that from the ranch, from where the ranch house is to where, you know, get on a quad and go up, there's, from, from, the ranch to where the second thing happened is about 40 feet and then to go up to where you get
Starting point is 00:35:48 to the top of this first little mountain. It's about, it's about another 30 or so feet. So again, it was dusk. My husband and I were down there during the summer with my mom and dad just spending a weekend. And my mom and I were in the kitchen just doing. dishes just talking. And the kitchen has a window that looks up onto this Boulder, the Boulder Mountain that goes up. And Chief, the Border Collie Dog, started just freaking out.
Starting point is 00:36:27 He was losing it, and he bolted out of the house. My mom and I both looked up and I kind of was like, what is that? she goes, oh, no, it's a bear. And being terrified that Chief was going to get eaten, she ran out after him. So she ran around the Kitchen Island out to the back porch. She just took off towards where Chief was running. By the time she got out of the house,
Starting point is 00:37:00 I saw this thing go from what looks like a black bear, like a short little black bear to standing up. And this thing looked very different. Also similar, but very different than what I saw in Fleming Gorge. This was more of a man with kind of like a, I don't want to say a cone-shaped head, but it kind of, it just had a weird shape to the top of the head, because I remember that distinctly. And so I, when I saw this thing stand up,
Starting point is 00:37:47 I knew instantly what it was. And so I ran out and, like from the first story, I told you, my mom tends to be a little hysterical. So I was trying to be calm. I grabbed the sheriff. gun and walked out on the porch and I said, mom, stop. And she goes, what is it a bear? And I said, it's not a bear.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Mom, stop. Come back. Come back, mom. And by the same time, I had walked down. And she started to walk back. And then I had the gun. And that's when this thing in, man, it seemed like three steps. And I'm not joking when I say that.
Starting point is 00:38:33 like three steps, it had faced this mountain and gotten up this 30-foot face of this, of this rock, and was gone West. I mean, it was gone. And we got out there and my husband had come out. He actually reminded me of this the other day we were talking because I wanted to get his side of the story as well. and we got out there and my dad was out there by now and there's cougars in this area just for knowledge we ran into cougars before
Starting point is 00:39:13 we know what they sound like and he said he heard what almost mimicked a cougar hiss but so loud that it echoed through the entire valley and he said
Starting point is 00:39:28 he goes did you guys hear that. And my dad's, my dad has a hard time hearing, he goes, here's what. And then as it was kind of going up, it made another hiss that was very, very loud. My husband said something along the lines of, you had to have heard that. And then by the time it had gotten out of, out of range where we could no longer see it when it was up that mountain, it was the only way that my husband and I have been able to describe it was this massive bellow whoop sound. And we're familiar with this now because it happens quite a bit down on the ranch. But it was it was loud and again echoed through the valley.
Starting point is 00:40:19 It was it was like a thunderous noise. And so we all came back in the in the ranch house. that was that was it for the night we were we were not going to go and look um for it my husband and i said that we would go and do that on the clause the next day so the next day and me being the one that saw this thing stand up we went out to where he was crouching on where he stood up and i'm five nine my husband's five a ten we were standing and from where his head hit the top of where his head hit, I could not, I couldn't reach it. And neither could my husband, like, reach with our hand, we couldn't reach it. And so I estimate that it was between 10 to 12 feet,
Starting point is 00:41:11 that somewhere in there. And it was, there was a very distinct, there's not a, I'm not going to say a footprint, because it wasn't a footprint. It was a very distinct hill. It was that heavy you could see a hill print and then you could see a toe print and there was there was dark hair um around the area my husband and i got on the closet and went up this mountain and and we saw um hair for a good number of yards and um little impressions as we as we made our way back up and the interesting thing is this this mountain that he he jumped up when you're up they're on the quads. This is again interesting about my dad. My dad rarely goes out on this mountain and very few of us do, even though they own all the land and it actually connects to a
Starting point is 00:42:06 national park about a mile into it. So it levels out when you get above this this mountain base and then in the distance, that's when the tall mountains come into it. And it's just all pine trees. You're very exposed when you get to the top where you can go with the quads. And every single person in my family, my siblings and my parents, we have all expressed a feeling that you can feel, you feel like something's watching you when you're on top of those, that mountain, which is why we don't go up there a lot because you feel watched. again it'll be weird where the noises will go silent like i described earlier the forest noises will go silent um and then they'll come back it's just it's just very odd uh so so yeah so that's that
Starting point is 00:43:09 you just have this feeling of being watched so much so that my dad uh actually installed there's no one that was next to him there's no i mean there for miles there's no one around and he installed this massive streetlight on his property, and he also installed these solar lights all across this mountain. After this experience, those solar lights, which solar lights don't die when they're, you know, getting solar power, they just slowly started disappearing.
Starting point is 00:43:48 And so that's when he had the streetlight put in. And the streetlights very close to the ranch where these solar lights were put all across the mountain. And he did that so that he would be able to see his property. But it's very clear that there's something that doesn't want to be seen out there. So after these solar lights started going missing, my dad, my dad raises dogs. He raises someway dogs. They're not the smartest dogs. They're really sweet.
Starting point is 00:44:20 They're really white. They're really fluffy. They look like little snowballs. And it was December. So this happened in the summer, probably, I would say, July or August, where my mom and I saw it from the house. And then in late November, early December, one of the Samoy dogs had just had a litter of puppies the day before. And she would let out to go urinate and disappeared. And when I say this appeared, like there, like I said, there have been cougars on this land.
Starting point is 00:44:57 You know when a cougar eat something. There's a kill site. These are fluffy white dogs. There's going to be a kill site. There's going to be fur. There's going to be, I mean, there's going to be evidence that a cougar got this dog. And I know how close the cougars come because I have seen one from the porch. I have seen one on the quad.
Starting point is 00:45:18 I came around a corner. it's right there. So these cougars get close. So you would see what happened to this dog. And my parents searched for that dog for days, if not a week or more. They searched that mountain on the quads and never found a trace of her. So after that, my dad installed these alarms. And they're really close to the house. They kind of surround the property. They're, they're an eyesight. And when I say eyesight, because when it's a motion sensor, when something crosses this invisible boundary, these red and blue lights start just going off. And a siren, like a police siren, starts to well. And he has these all around the ranch now very close to where the dogs are very close to the ranch house because the solar lights were going missing along the mountain. And so he knew that he needed protection for his dogs and everything down there. And so it's really interesting.
Starting point is 00:46:28 These alarms will go off really only at dusk or in the middle of the night. And you will be sitting in the house or you'll be sitting on the porch in the summer and they just start freaking out. And it always, again, it's always interesting how quiet everything gets when one of these alarms goes off. Like, it's just everything just goes quiet. But yeah, so that's those are kind of some of the, those are the two experiences that I've had with these things. Yeah, I feel really bad for your folks being out there. kind of dealing with this. And you know, it really pisses me off when you hear about them
Starting point is 00:47:20 killing dogs. I've always said, you know, if one of these things killed my dog, I would disappear from civilization into the forest and I would become the most non-threatening, curious thing on the planet to draw them in and then I would kill them all and let God figure it out or we can all go together. I wouldn't be trying to prove anything to science, just who the main character is. no need for their stupid samurai chatter or wood knocks for communication. They're going to need a Ouija board to contact their family members that cross my path. And fear and grief can kind of transform into rage very quickly. I'd probably burn the forest down after that to flush out any stragglers I missed.
Starting point is 00:48:02 The universe would fill me and my broken heart for my dog Teddy. That's for sure. I probably shouldn't have said that out loud. I'm sure I sound crazy. No, not at all. No, it was it was tragic. It was it was awful. I mean, these dogs are, they're a family, you know, and it's interesting because Chief, the Border Collie, he's so smart. And there's a, there's a very clear difference between the Samoy dogs and Chief, where Chief is kind of the corral. These Samoy dogs, they are loving, they run up to anything. They're, they're energetic, they're happy. And they always, come home. They always come home. And they don't ever really leave the area. And so, so yeah, it was, it was clear that something had taken it. Yeah, I'm sorry to hear about your dogs. I hate to hear that. Can I ask you, when you were looking out the window and you guys saw this thing,
Starting point is 00:49:03 how far away from you was it? So about 30 to 40 feet. So it's from the, from the, the porch from the, so the kitchen and the back of the house are all kind of connected. So the back door is right next to the kitchen and there's the back porch. And so from where you step down from the porch to where this thing was, I would say, oh, no, no, sorry, not 30 or 40 feet. I would say 30 to 40 yards about that, about that length of space. 30 to 40 feet is the mountain that goes up. So it's about 30, I'd say 30 yards.
Starting point is 00:49:42 But it was, yeah, so it was about 30 yards from where we could see it. Yeah, that's still pretty close. I mean, you're talking 90 to 120 feet. When you were looking at this saying, did it remind you of that creature that you saw when you were a little girl? Or did it look different? This was more of a sasker's creature. It did not remind me of anything of the creature. I saw a flaming gorge.
Starting point is 00:50:11 This was so different. The build was different. The muscles were different. The color was a little bit different. This one, like I said, it had more of a cone head. It had more of a human-like face. The build of it was different.
Starting point is 00:50:32 It was more man than the creature. I saw flaming gorge. They were very different. This one was definitely more of the saskatch that everyone is familiar with, like the one that if you typed in saskatch on Google and pull it up or, you know, like the paddy. It's like that, except it's the male version, right? It's the male version of patty. So it's very a saskatch-esque-looking creature. Can I ask you, Jill, your opinion on why you think it came in so close to the house?
Starting point is 00:51:05 Because this is still daytime. Yeah. So it was right at about dusk. So I mean, you could see it. You could see it and you could see it clearly. The sun hadn't set yet. And the only thing I can think of, because like I said, those alarms go off all the time. And so you've got to imagine that it's probably coming close all the time.
Starting point is 00:51:32 For the animals, there's also deer on this mountain. There's wild turkeys that are. covering my parents ranch close to the house. There's turkeys everywhere. My dad can hunt off his porch if he wanted to. Like there's food available. There's dogs. There's a lot of food source down there.
Starting point is 00:51:55 That's the only thing that I can think of because since the alarms have gone up and they're constantly going off when it's hard to see where they are, that's the only thing I can think of is that they're coming in either because they're hungry, they're looking for something or they were curious. But this was different. When this one, this had a very different feeling as well. Like I told you, Inflaining Gorge, it was predatory. It was danger.
Starting point is 00:52:30 And this was scary. It was scary, but I didn't feel like my, I don't. I don't know. It was a very different feeling. It was almost like this guy was like, oh, okay, they saw me. I got caught time to get out of here, right? So curious food, I don't know. But it didn't feel the danger that I felt as a little girl.
Starting point is 00:52:58 And yeah, so I still don't know. You know, the hissing noise that you were describing earlier, gosh, it's been years. since I've heard that. But as this thing was going up a cliff, was it this thing hissing or was it something separate? No, it was distinct hissing at us, which was so interesting because it was almost like it was mimicking a cougar hiss. But it was so much louder and it was piercing,
Starting point is 00:53:30 but it was hissing and it was hissing because we were, I mean, my mom was coming at it. We were all coming out of the porch. I imagine it had to feel threatened. I don't know if they know what a gun are, but I clearly had a shotgun in my hand. Like it was if it was feeling that its life was in danger. And so it did the meanest thing or the scariest thing that he could do.
Starting point is 00:53:54 And it was, it was terrifying. It was, it was a hiss, and it was two hisses, and it was loud and piercing. And that's the only thing that I can think of is it was, like, okay, they're coming after me. So I'm going to try to scare them so I can get away as quickly as possible. Yeah, it's been years since I've heard of them hissing or eyewitnesses reporting that. That is fascinating.
Starting point is 00:54:22 It would hiss at you. Let me ask you, when you guys were looking at it through the window and it's 30 to 40 yards away, what are some things that kind of stood out to you as far as details? Yeah, so the mass of it, the shoulder, I mean, the shoulder width of this thing, when it stood up, it was huge on top. It was huge. And kind of its gait was really interesting, how long his arms were very long when it stood up. Because when it stood up, I mean, it stood up quick and it was, it was, I'm up and I'm out of here. But I know exactly where it hit.
Starting point is 00:55:13 I know the tree. I know the height that it hit. I can picture it exactly right now. And so, yeah, even though it was close because how the sun sets, this is at the back of the ranch and the sun sets on the opposite side. so I couldn't make out clear details of the face. But the cone head because I remember, and when I say cone head, I don't mean like the show.
Starting point is 00:55:41 I mean, like I had just more of a head that came to a slope. So that and then just the length of its arms, the gate. And when I say gate, it's almost like, I call it a cal, Cowboys stance. Like, its legs looks like it could ride a horse
Starting point is 00:56:06 if it wanted to. The way that it stood up was very kind of, you know, like when a bodybuilder will lift his weights up and he pushes the length of his legs out, right? And they kind of broaden out a little bit to readjust the weight
Starting point is 00:56:22 from standing up, right? So his gait was very different than I'm comparing to the to the dogman that I saw before. But just the chest and the shoulders and the arms and the cone-shaped head are the things that stand out to me the most. Also, the hair on this was different.
Starting point is 00:56:46 So the one that I saw on Flaming Gorge, it was just different. You could see more of the tectorial muscles, more of the laps, more of, you know, All of that. Like it was, it was very defined. And I'm not saying this wasn't defined. It was just more of just a big, a big creature with a massive chest and big.
Starting point is 00:57:12 But it wasn't, it wasn't ripped. Like the thing that I saw in Flaming Gorge, like it looked like a were wolf. It was, it was ripped. And this thing was just big and beefy and huge. Was there anything about it that reminded,
Starting point is 00:57:29 you of a man or did it just kind of appear to be kind of a weird looking gorilla? No, it absolutely reminded me of a human. It reminded me of a very massive man, at least at least when it stood up. When I, when I say the cowboy gate, I'm not, I'm not saying like he sways from side to side. It's just that his, his hips and legs were coming out further. But it reminds me, like I said, I'm a country girl. I'm raised around. Cowboys, it reminded me of when a cowboy stands up. But no, it was definitely, it was definitely very humanistic in its traits. It resembled a man very much so as far as if you were to see a very big bodybuilder
Starting point is 00:58:25 It was kind of lightish brown, reddish brown, like just different shades of brown, right? And it mixed with a little bit of red. It definitely resembled a man while at the same time resembling a creature. And I don't like to compare it to an ape because it didn't remind me of an ape or a gorilla. It reminded me more of like a Neanderthal, if that makes sense. Yeah, that does make sense. You know, since that incident, have your folks heard any strange vocalizations out there, you know, your dad or your mother, as far as an animal they couldn't place?
Starting point is 00:59:13 So he hasn't. My mom has my dad. My dad struggled with his hearing. And so he doesn't hear things quite as well. unless they're they're pretty close. But my mom has definitely heard things. She's seeing things. She's seeing weird stuff out there.
Starting point is 00:59:34 And she, so my mom doesn't sleep a lot. She's normally, she's one of those people that goes to bed at 4 a.m. and then wakes up at 7 a.m. And when it's, when it's night at the ranch, it's black. other than that street light that my dad put in, it's dark. And you can hear everything because there's nothing around you and it echoes in that valley. The ranch house sits in the valley surrounded by those mountains. So it sits in a valley.
Starting point is 01:00:11 So if there is something on those mountains or anywhere nearby, you hear it. many, many times she has heard whooping in the middle of the night. She has heard in her words, but it sounds like gibberish. I've asked her to explain that, but the only thing that she can explain is it sounds like gibberish. And a lot of times that gibberish is followed by one of the alarms going off the sirens. So when she's heard of gibberish, she says it's a lot closer. But when she's heard like whooping or yelling or how she described it, she describes it as a like a guttural noise, like something that you would have to take a deep breath in to get out. But she can hear that.
Starting point is 01:01:05 And she says that it sounds like an echo from wherever it is because it echoes throughout the valley. It's so loud. But those are the things that she's heard. Yeah, that gibberish. You gotta play your mother, the Ron Moorhead Sierra sounds and kind of see if that's what she heard. You know, a lot of people, when they have these things on their property, they will light the place up. And I've had eyewitnesses that I've tried that and they'll smash the bulbs out or the lights vanish. Kind of like what's happening to your dad.
Starting point is 01:01:38 You know, what I'd recommend is get some trail cams and get them off Amazon for cheap. Don't spend like 200 bucks on them. I think I saw one on Amazon the day. It was really nice for like 30 bucks. You don't need expensive ones, but I would get the trailcams. I'd get a bunch of them, and I would place them where your dad has all those noise machines set up. And I really think it'll stop them from coming in kind of a goofy theory that they can see the IR light. And you know your normal wildlife, not this freak show we're talking about here, your normal wildlife.
Starting point is 01:02:12 your normal wildlife sees them. You'll see where they walk right up to the trail cam. And on some of these trail cams, you can actually, from your phone, see what set the trail cam off. Many eyewitnesses report these things backing off when people set up trail cams. That's what, you know,
Starting point is 01:02:30 would be my advice. You know, when I was in Vernal, Utah for Phenomicon, I was kind of shocked. Everyone in Utah has seen a UFO. Not everyone's seen Bigfoot, but it seemed like everyone has. had seen UFOs. And you know, normally when people have these things on their property, I will say normally,
Starting point is 01:02:49 generally speaking, most of the time, people also see these weird lights. Have you guys seen the lights out there on the property yet? Yes. So I wasn't sure if we were going to talk about that. But I'm glad you brought that up because when I said that my mom has seen strange things, that's exactly what she has seen. She has seen weird lights. I have seen, and my husband has seen these two kind of like a white, kind of a white floating bubble that's white.
Starting point is 01:03:24 I don't know how to describe it. But it's white almost see-through, very fluid in motion. That's why I say it's like a bubble. But my mom has seen red UFO lights. She has seen really weird beams of light in the night. Like I said, she doesn't sleep a lot. And so, yeah, she sees things all night long and she'll see them sometimes up on the mountain.
Starting point is 01:03:57 And so she'll just see a bit of light, but she has had an experience. One that she told me about with a lot of detail was this red UFO-looking thing with lights that kind of came in a circular manner, red, red lights that kind of went in a circular manner. And that was right above where they put in street lights. So kind of between where the Sasquatch was and where the ranch house is. It's just kind of open space. You can have a campfire there. It's just kind of open space. There's a lot of my dad farms a lot. So there's a lot of
Starting point is 01:04:38 peach trees and everything. So just kind of, it's just open land of trees and farmland. And it just kind of hovered right above there where the dogs and the ranch house were in this open area. And she said that it stayed for around four minutes. And then as if it was gone in an instant, it was just gone. But yeah, definitely has seen some UFO type things and weird lights and, and, and and beams and like the orcs that I told you that I've seen.
Starting point is 01:05:12 When your mom said beams of light, was it something going from like the ground to the sky or vice versa? So I don't I don't know because the beams of light that she has described were up on the top of that mountain face, right? And so she'll either just be in the kitchen and she'll just notice a white light, right? that if it's like a beam of light, she's never made it clear if it goes from the sky to the ground or the ground to the sky. But she just notices that that's this beam of light that's there and then it's gone. And then, you know, that does, did I explain that okay?
Starting point is 01:05:50 Like where it's just shot there and then it's gone. But she's never been clear if it goes from the ground to the light because those beams of light that she has seen were mainly. on the top of where we went exploring on the clods on that flat land that's up surrounded by the mountainous area. Yeah, and I guess it's kind of, it would be kind of hard for your mom to answer that question. If I saw a beam of light, it's probably happening so quick.
Starting point is 01:06:21 I couldn't tell you if it was coming up or going down. I was looking at trail cams here. It was a nice one here for $30. There's one for $60. And it actually has three IR lights that two, left and right that go out at a 45 degree angle and then the third one is straight ahead that'll definitely get them to to back off i understand why your dad set up that whole sound alarm uh for to kind of alert him you know if something's nearby but i don't think that alarm is going to scare them off
Starting point is 01:06:53 the trail cam i think will you know i wanted to ask you i was going to ask you what you thought bigfoot was and what kind of what you thought Sasquatch was but kind of going back to that moment in time when you're a little girl and then now as an adult seeing this other thing. Do you think that there's a relation or correlation between the Sasquatch and the dogman? And I realize their appearances are very different. But do you feel like they're, they might be related to each other? It's kind of a weird question. So this is based early on how I felt in those. two experiences.
Starting point is 01:07:36 Because if we're going off looks, yes, I could see how they could be related as much as we could be related to the saskatch, right? So, yeah, I understand that, but based purely on what I felt, the dog man was a completely different beast than the saskatch was. And if they come from the same family,
Starting point is 01:08:03 I don't even understand because the feeling and the feeling in the forest, the feeling at the ranch, everything was so different and such polar opposites. I'm not talking about how they look. I'm talking about how it made me feel. And for one, to be able to instill such fear and predation and have a, such animalistic instincts versus one that I almost, it almost came across as being curious or needing something that was down there that, that like I said, I didn't feel like it was in danger.
Starting point is 01:08:51 So I'm sure, I'm sure, Wes, I'm sure that they're related somehow. But I don't know how because they were so different. And what do I think Sasquatch is? This is obviously my own complete opinion. But I think that they have been a lot around for far longer than we have been around. I think they are smart. I think they are aware. I think that they are the natural inhabitants of this earth as much
Starting point is 01:09:33 the Native Americans are. And I think in some sense, we are related to them. I don't know how. I don't know if it's evolution of some sort. I don't know, but I feel like there is definitely a connection between the way that they've evolved and the way that we've evolved. So are you thinking they are more human-like and not so much animal-like? So it's something kind of in between.
Starting point is 01:10:05 Like I think that it was probably, that it was probably an animal at some point. I think a lot of it still is animal. But I think that it's related to humans. I think that we are related in some way. And the reason I feel that way is they are too similar and too aware. At least that's what I felt for them to not be related to us in some way.
Starting point is 01:10:35 Yeah, it's really hard to pin down. Even with appearances, sometimes eyewitnesses will say what I saw looked very human like. And other times they'll say, no, it reminded them of an animal. You know, and even with their behavior, on Sunday, I'll be interviewing Paul. He's a cop from Louisiana. And he had two encounters. and his first encounter, while terrifying, you know, he didn't really get a good look at the creature. But Paul and I were talking the other day, and I was telling him, I was like, man, you know, the behavior that he's describing sounds like something I would do as opposed to a wild animal.
Starting point is 01:11:15 But, you know, I really appreciate you coming on and sharing these encounters with us. It's been years since I've heard that hissing vocalization. And, you know, give your folks my number. cell phone number. If they want to call her, your mom keeps the same sleep schedule I do, so I'm probably up. Um, so if she gets worried or whatever, she's welcome to call me. I'm, I'm not going to put her on the air, but, you know, if I can give her advice or whatever, not that I'll have all the answers, but she's welcome to call me. You know, that will, that will mean a lot to my parents, things like that mean a lot to them. That's very kind of US. I will do that. That's, that's very
Starting point is 01:11:55 kind. Thank you for that. And yeah, thanks for taking the time to do this for me. I, have been looking forward to this. Like I said, it makes me still get scared to talk about it. But like I told my husband, these things are real and people need to know about it. And I think what you are doing with your podcast is such a service to humanity. And I don't say that lightly. You are bringing awareness that these type of creatures exist. and for whatever reason they are not talked about, they are not being known, and the fact that you're doing that, and that's the reason why I wanted to come on your show is because I wanted people to know, these things are real, and they exist and they are out there, and they're not just made up stories.
