Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1145 Run Out Of Camp

Episode Date: April 13, 2025

Spoke to Todd and Kerri who are from Louisiana. They were camping and had seen eyeshine from two individuals who were about 6-7 feet tall. Kerri and Todd describe pebbles hitting their tent and strang...e vocalizations. The two individuals came into camp and were touching the tent and walking around the camp. Todd says "I could hear them hitting my truck and I lost it. I came out of my tent with an airhorn and yelling. We grabbed our stuff and left. I forgot my phone which was recording." After the truck drives off you hear a strange vocalization I thought was a hog but the more I listened to it, its not a hog. Cossatot sounds

Starting point is 00:00:00 On a late November night in 2012, while driving in the foothills of Washington, two brothers were surrounded by mysterious creatures. Still haunted and forever changed, these men took to the internet, creating a forum for others. If you've had an encounter and no one else can help, maybe you can contact Sasquatch Chronicles. It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blinding. It either heard me or smelled me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up and that shocked me. They don't make people that big.
Starting point is 00:01:02 The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything moves like that in my life. They were screaming at each other in gibberish. It sounded like a language, and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards. I know what a bear looks like, and there is no way on this planet, but what I saw were bears. Back on one, what are you reporting? Sir? See him.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? That son of a bitch is about six foot nine. I don't know. Do you see him now, sir? Yes, I'm looking right in any. Uh-uh. This is Colonel Nathan R. Jessa, commanding officer, Marine,
Starting point is 00:02:05 Ground Forces, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and you are listening to Sasquatch Chronicles. Boom. Welcome to the show, everyone. Thanks for being here tonight. I've got a great show plan for you. We'll be chatting with Todd and his ex-wife, Carrie. And they had a scary night while camping in Arkansas. This happened about almost a year ago.
Starting point is 00:03:08 They were actually run out of this camp. and I'll let Todd go into it. I interviewed Carrie separately due to schedule conflicts, but I've inserted her into this interview to kind of give her perspective on what happened that night as well. I want to thank Matt, Cliff, and Bobo for having me on their podcast, Bigfoot and Beyond. Had a great time with the boys.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Check it out if you get a chance. Bigfoot and Beyond. Whatever podcast player you're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles on, give them a listen if you're not already. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com. And if you get a chance to check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com, you can become a member and get additional shows. Let's jump into it tonight. I want to welcome Todd to the show.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Todd, thanks for coming on. Thank you for having me, man. It's an honor. Now, the honor is mine, Todd. Thank you for being here. And I'll kind of plug Carrie in throughout this interview to kind of give her perspective as far as what was going on. But if you would, would you start from the very beginning?
Starting point is 00:04:31 What were you guys doing? And what happened? It was May 8th. of last year and we had a cabin booked in Broken Boat, Oklahoma, and we're from South Louisiana, like very South Louisiana in a town called Homer. So we decided to drive up the day of the eighth, find a place to tent camp for the night, you know, just do that and then head to the cabin the next evening once we finished exploring wherever we were. So originally we were headed to to Little Missouri Falls.
Starting point is 00:05:09 One of my coworkers told me about a good little camping spot that's like maybe a mile in and kind of explained to me how to get to it and all of that. So that was where we were heading. But we ended up just kind of taking a time, you know, we wasn't rushing to get anywhere. We were just kind of, you know, enjoying the O.A. time and the time alone.
Starting point is 00:05:31 And we stopped in Falk, Arkansas at Carrie's best friend's house for a while. We'll probably stay there for maybe an hour, hour and a half. And by the time we was leaving, it was getting dark. I've never been to Little Missouri Falls, never been in that area at all, really, except for around hot springs, a Wachita Lake area. So we leave our best friend's house, and we head into Little Missouri Falls Trailhead. And we stopped to get something to eat, and we get an alert on our phone, like a weather alert. and it was a tornado warning for the county that Little Missouri Falls is in.
Starting point is 00:06:12 And the day before or maybe the day before that while I was at home, I was just kind of researching the area and finding different places, you know, so any kind of backup ideas. So I remember looking up Costa Tate, finding Casatat, real estate park, whatever it is. So we decided to head there. So we drove another two hours probably on a half pavement, half gravel road. Then we turned off of that road onto another little dirt mountain road winding around the mountain, probably about maybe five miles back more into the mountains.
Starting point is 00:06:53 And it was so far back there, man, to where I was getting ready to turn around and just head out and go find a hotel room. because it was getting late and I didn't know how far this campground was. So like around the next bin we ended up finding it. I think it was about 11 o'clock at night. It was pretty late. So everything was really dark and quiet. I remember pulling into the parking lot of the campground and there's like a board with maps and you know all the things that campgrounds have. So I sat in the car a while Todd got out and he went.
Starting point is 00:07:31 went look, you know, at the area, I guess, and just kind of got some info. And that's when I immediately started feeling, um, just weird. Like, I don't, I don't know how to explain it. I'm not scared, but like something was looking at me. Something was there. Something like I just, I felt on edge. Like, there wasn't any reason for it. I just had never been there. It was dark. I was uncomfortable. And it just felt like, like we were being watched, you know? So, When he got back in the car, like I just, I was just so nervous. So we drive in. You know, I get out, I go walk up to the information board, you know, whatever you want to call it.
Starting point is 00:08:13 And, you know, you fill out your tag and put your money in the thing, whatever. I kind of, I guess I can say I had a weird feeling, man, of being watched, but I've been in the woods in my whole life. Anytime you're in the woods, something's watching you. a big foot or a bird, something is watching you. So I kind of just learned to brush that off as a kid. But Carrie said that she was feeling, like she had a, I guess, stronger feeling of it would be the word. So we filled out a little card and jumped back in the truck, drove to the end of the campground, turn around. I mean, it's only like six little campsites, man, along the river.
Starting point is 00:08:55 And turn around and we ended up picking campsite. too. So we went to the site and we started setting up the tent right when we got there because we wanted to, you know, it was late. We wanted to get it all set up and then we were going to go explore. So we set up the tent. Everything was fine. And I wanted to go to the river to try out a new life strata that I had just bought on
Starting point is 00:09:20 the way there. Todd had bought this new water straw that he wanted to try out. So he wanted to get close to the water. So he went kind of into the middle of big pile of rocks towards the middle of the creek. And he was trying to get closer down to drink from the straws, you know, kind of test it out. So in order to get to the river, we got to cross the road that passes in front of all the campsites. And on the other side of that road is the river. It's about a 10 to 15 foot patch of woods.
Starting point is 00:09:58 along the river. And so we walked across the road, went through a breaking the fence, and into the trees, and there was a little trail that led straight to the river there. Well, we walked, as soon as we made it into the woods,
Starting point is 00:10:13 I noticed the tree break immediately to my right. It was on the right side of the trail. It wasn't a really big tree, but it was way bigger than me, you or any other human being, I know could just snap the way that it was. It was pretty high up, and it's like you just,
Starting point is 00:10:28 grabbed it and just snapped it with Eve, continue to walk towards the river. And, you know, she got ahead of me about four or five steps. So I turn around. And before I'm even, you know, finished turning around, I see another one on the left on the other side of the trail. This is a much bigger tree, though, probably like, maybe like the about as big around as a 20-ounce coat bottle, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:55 maybe a little bit smaller than that. and this one was kind of twisted and then it was like I guess a bent or not snapped. It was just you know twisted really hard and then pushed down to the ground. And we both seen it
Starting point is 00:11:10 just kind of blew it off, you know even though we was already into Bigfoot and all that we both believed. It just, just one of them things you think it's never going to happen to you and I definitely didn't think it was going to happen this night. So we get back on the road and we were walking along the river but on the road
Starting point is 00:11:28 and then we get back to where the information board is and where you make a left to exit the campground or you can keep going straight by walking and you end up on the river corridor. Corridor Trail is the name of it. And probably about maybe 25, 30 yards into that trail. There's a break in the, like the grass on the riverbank. There's a little trail that goes through,
Starting point is 00:11:55 it and goes to the river where there's some big enough rocks that I can jump out, you know, to maybe to the middle of the river or wherever it would be easiest for me to get access to water, you know, to where I got to squat down and put the straw in the water. So as I'm, you know, squatting down to go do that, I kind of just kind of glance at my surroundings and I catch something shining on the riverbank that we literally just walked by. And at first, you know, I wasn't alone or anything. The first thing, I saw that. First thing, I saw, thought was a deer until I noticed the size of this circle and then it was just one. It was just like one big glowing circle.
Starting point is 00:12:34 So we both thought it was an orb. He's like, Kerry, look over there. And I'm like, what? So he points and I look off to the left side, kind of like along the bank. And there's like this little single glowing to me, it looked like an orb. I'm like, what is that? That looks like an orb, you know? And he's like, no, that's an eye.
Starting point is 00:12:56 And I'm like, are you sure? And then it kind of like was just kind of moving sideways, kind of like not bobbing, but kind of like, you know, going motion sideways. And it kind of just like faded out after a second. And when I saw that, it creeped me out because I felt like I was very vulnerable in the middle of rocks on water and that if it would happen to come closer, I didn't know what it was. I had no idea. but if it would happen to come closer, I just felt like I was not in a good position.
Starting point is 00:13:28 You know, like I was scared. The level that it was was right at the top of the grass that was on the riverbank, which is about chest height, maybe a little bit more to me, or was at that time about chest height to me at on 5 foot 6. I'm just looking at just trying to figure out what it is because it's not making sense. And then it blinks. and I realized that's an eye. I've never seen an eye that big in my life.
Starting point is 00:13:58 So the chills went down my spine. I knew something wasn't right. But I wasn't scared, so to say. I wasn't really concerned, but I had that feeling if something wasn't right. So she's, you know, once she's seeing that, she's kind of freaking out too, trying to call me back off the rocks
Starting point is 00:14:16 and she's trying to get back off to the bank. After about, you know, 20 seconds of looking at this thing. And I'm one, still wants to try my life straw after about 20 seconds of just looking and, you know, hesitating to try the lifestyle, I walked off. But now we got to walk back up this trail that we just came down to where this thing was. He was between the trail and the river, on the riverbank and the tall grass. We moved, we got off the rocks. We kind of went backwards to, um, like back down the trail through the rocks all that stuff back down to the campsite and the entire time i was just kind of like looking around trying to see if i could see anything the whole walk back because we we really had to pass next to the spot where we saw this um so once we got past that we got back to the campsite we get to the tent and uh start making you know start getting our tent up tinder together for a fire you know just the normal shit you do when you're camping and um Got the fire going.
Starting point is 00:15:23 And she was just kind of looking around. And I think I was still picking up some sticks, you know, to put aside for later. And I hear her call me. So I go up to where she's at. And all we have are, we each have like one of those little energizer headlights. You know, they take like three AAA batteries. They're pretty right. But the thing that she wanted me to look at was.
Starting point is 00:15:48 as we were collecting the wood, I happened to look up and I can't say how far away it was. It was a good 200 feet or more. I'm not sure. I'm not good with measurements. But there was a big tree. And next to the tree was one glowing orb again. And I mean, it wasn't small like an eye. Like it was bigger.
Starting point is 00:16:15 It was a white. kind of glow to it. It wasn't, it wasn't eye shine. Like, eye shine's completely different. I've seen, I mean, we have deer all over the place on the side the roads around here. So I've seen, you know, eye shine. It was more of like a golf ball size, just white light. So as I'm looking at it, I say, Todd, what is that? Standing behind a tree, a very, very big pine tree. There's some very big pine trees. It was wide. And it's, so it would have been its right shoulder. It would have been leaning to its right.
Starting point is 00:16:56 And I'll make eye contact with it. It's watching me, watch it. And it's the same color as whatever I saw on the riverbank as that eye, I guess is what it was. I can't make nothing else out of it. It was the same color as that, but it was a set of eyes. It was two eyes. We're both just staring at it kind of uphill from us. And the one eye kind of goes to the side, and then there's two.
Starting point is 00:17:23 And then you can see it kind of moving, and then it blinks. A little bit bigger than a golf ball, but not quite as big as like a tennis ball. But they were big, and at least six to seven inches apart. And my mind's kind of just not knowing what to do is telling me dear, dear, you know, or something. And then I kind of snap out of that. And I'm like, no, this is not a deer. I mean, it's staying seven foot off the ground. And it's got high as the size of damn lemons almost.
Starting point is 00:17:55 So it goes back behind the tree, like completely conceals itself behind the tree for just a few seconds. And it kind of like you see the one eye come back from behind the tree. Right after that, you see the second one following at the left eye. And it's just looking at us. We're looking at it and it blinks. and that moment is a moment I will never forget because I've been I've literally grew up in the swamp
Starting point is 00:18:26 like I could if I wanted to hunt rabbits and squirrels I go out my back door if I wanted to go hunt deer hogs whatever big game I go out the front door literally and this thing blinked dude and I've seen a lot of different animals at night you know the way their eyes do and how they look.
Starting point is 00:18:46 And this was 100% a flat face. This was not anything with a snout. It's a flat face just like we got. And the way I can tell, or the way I could tell, was by the way that it blinked. Okay, if you're looking straight at a deer, if he's facing you, you're facing him like I was with this thing. Whenever that deer blinks,
Starting point is 00:19:12 you'll see the eyes kind of go on the side, like they're on the side of his head. So they'll, you know, they'll close differently. They'll look differently compared to humans or anything with a flat face. This thing definitely had a flat face. His eyes were right next to each other,
Starting point is 00:19:31 not on the side of his head or anything like that. So he goes back behind a tree and we sit there and watch for like 10 or 15 more minutes and we see nothing. And then after it blinks, I'm like, I'm speechless. I'm just watching. And it goes, you know, more towards the left. And then kind of just either closes its eyes or goes behind something because it's just gone.
Starting point is 00:19:57 And I was staring at it for a long time. Just trying to, you know, see like the whole time we went back to collecting firewood, go and build the fire. And I'm just constantly looking towards where it was. and I just, I don't see anything. So by this time, it's like 12.30, you know, one in the morning. And we're kind of wrapping it up. And even though I knew in the back of my mind, I knew what just happened,
Starting point is 00:20:23 it didn't really bother me for some reason. I wasn't really concerned. Maybe it's because I didn't feel any kind of threat at all from the, you know, from him watching me. So we just went. in the tent, man. We kind of talked about her a little bit. And she fell asleep first, and I wasn't long after I fell asleep. We are building the fire. I'm looking around still, and I decided to turn my head lamp off. And I don't remember seeing the moon out, but I remember
Starting point is 00:20:55 turning my head lamp off, and I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face. And I got so creeped out. I just pictured, I mean, I don't even know. It was scary. So I turned my lay it back on. And I mean, we kind of talked for a little bit and we're like, all right, you know, are you ready to go to bed? We'll go in the tent and lay down. So I want to say it was like one, maybe 1.30 in the morning. We finally went inside and we went lay down. And it kind of took a minute to fall asleep. I was, I don't know, I felt on edge. But eventually I dozed off. And I think Todd dozed off too. But all I know is at three, three o'clock in the morning. He woke me up and he says, Carrie, they're here. And I'm like, what do you mean? He's like, they're here. They're by the truck. I'm like, what are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:21:46 He says, I just heard one hit the truck. They're right here. And then not long after falling asleep, I'm woken up by, I don't know what, which is odd for me because usually if I wake up is, you know, for a reason. So I'm trying to, you know, get comfortable and go back to sleep. and I started hearing bipedal footsteps coming from the direction, like a beeline direction from where this thing was. If they come in from that way and they come in very, very slow, impatient,
Starting point is 00:22:24 but definitely bipedal. And whenever we first saw it, it was probably like 70 yards up the mountain. Like we was looking up the slope of the mountain and he was probably like 70 yards up. By the time we got in the tent, it was probably about 100 yard distance between him and the tent. And it took him almost 45 minutes to cover that distance. I think he was going from tree to tree. Like he would walk up to one tree, you know, hide behind it for a second or whatever. And then he, you know, walk to another tree.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Well, she hadn't woke up yet and I hadn't woken up yet and I hadn't. her up because I still wasn't really sure what was happening. I've had animals come in to camp and all that before, but, you know, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overreacting because of the situation that just happened. So it's still coming in and it's getting closer and it's getting closer. Now it's within probably 25, 30 yards. And then all of a sudden, all right, so let me lay this out for you real quick. I'm laying, we're laying on our backs, the river and the road and the,
Starting point is 00:23:31 And then the river is to our right. That's where we're seeing the first one. On the left, it's just like the slope, the incline of the mountain that goes up. So on the right where the vehicle is backed in to the parking spot, I heard something soft. It wasn't nothing real hard like an acorn or it. It wasn't anything that fell out of a tree. I've been hearing that my whole life.
Starting point is 00:23:58 It was something like a padded hand. And it kind of just thumped the side of the truck. Like, you wanted to, I don't know, like, you know, you'd kick the tires where he, he just hit the hood, I guess it was, because the truck was back then. And that's when I realized what was going on, that I had, we had two of them there. One was coming in from where we seen him, and the other one was coming in, complete opposite direction. And it was coming straight for the camp.
Starting point is 00:24:22 So I woke her up. And the first thing I told her was, I was like, they're here. It took a second to kind of, you know, gather thoughts and wake up and then she listened and she knew I wasn't b s'm b s'n at that point. So she starts really freaking out. And I'm like, what do you mean? You heard it? He says he heard like, kind of like a knuckle, the back of the knuckle would like tap the truck or something.
Starting point is 00:24:49 You know, like it was a specific like, you know? So when he said that, I was like, okay. So I kind of like I was laying on my stomach out comfortable. I turned around. I laid on my back and we just sat there quietly just listening. And I don't know how long after that exactly it started, but it's so creepy to think back to it. There was kind of around the area where we heard, not where we heard, I'm sorry, where we saw the first glow down by the creek, which is the way we're laying. It's off to my left kind of like towards our feet. There was an owl call and it did three,
Starting point is 00:25:30 hoots and then stopped. But as that last hoot was stopping, right next to me, kind of by our heads to the left, picked up another one, and it hooted a few times. And then we hear the first owl mimic. And I know a lot of people say that I don't care what anybody says. I grew up in the swamp due to my dad was a commercial crop fisherman. and owls would, like they would get to his crawfish cages and tear him up to get to the crawfish inside. So you could, you could about imagine what my job was when I went with him
Starting point is 00:26:11 in the woods. So nobody can tell me that this was not, I mean, that this was an owl. This was 100% not an owl. It did a call. The one on the left made the same call. and then the one that's on the right made the same call right back, but immediately after, it's like his voice wasn't even finished the owl mimic yet, and there was the samurai chatter. And I swear to God, I freaked out. The end of the second one replying to the first one, it had the chatter. It had no mistaking Bigfoot chatter. Like there's no explanation for that. It was, it was in, insane and my hair immediately stood up. My heart started pounding. I felt my blood wushing through my body. Like the adrenaline was insane. It was the scariest thing I've ever heard because, I mean, I've listened to your show probably two or three years now. I don't know if I told you I'm kind of a fan. I've been hearing, you know, all the sound clips you play, everything. And it sounded exactly like
Starting point is 00:27:19 that. Like it was a deep, just chatter, like a deep voice. It sounded. just the scariest thing I've ever heard. So, yeah, after that happened, I was, I knew for sure. I was like, okay, he's not lying. I'm like, they're here. They're actually here. I've heard so many stories. I've, you know, watch podcasts.
Starting point is 00:27:39 I've never encountered any of them. I mean, I just, I figured they were real, but I didn't know until that exact moment because there's no way that that was, you know, fake. There wasn't, I don't even know how to explain it. just going back to it kind of throws me off um it was i'm gonna sound goofy kind of trying to repeat it but it was like um like a who though so it was it wasn't slow but it wasn't like fast but it was it was creepy it was oh my goodness it makes my heart pound just thinking about it because i've heard every time you play vocals on your podcast i kind of get you know the hair staying up and
Starting point is 00:28:20 It's just a creepy sound, you know, like knowing that there's something out there that can have a whole conversation in these, these vocals. I mean, I don't know how to explain it. And I think that's when it really sunk in for Carrie. Because that's, I think that solidified it for her right there that they real and they hear. And we don't know what they are. so we could be in danger. I don't know what these things and tensions were, man. I don't know what they are.
Starting point is 00:28:57 I don't know what they want. I don't know what they're capable of. So it got pretty intense in that tent, man. Not even like 15 minutes later. Behind our heads, we had these windows on every side of the tent. And I wanted to keep them down. I don't know if this is important, but I wanted to keep them down because I wanted to see what was around me.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Like I didn't want something coming up to the tent and not being able to see or know, you know. And he wanted the windows up. So that was kind of a debate when we first went lay down. But he kind of caved and he let me keep him down. So I'm laying there and I'm kind of looking, you know, out the windows. And I'm scared to sit up and look. So I'm kind of just seeing like the sky. You know, I'm kind of just seeing from a laying down position just the sky.
Starting point is 00:29:46 So I can't really see too much. But behind our heads, there is like a songbird. It wasn't like a tweet. It was just like a little, like a whistle, like a songbird whistle. And it was just one little short whistle. And then like that was about it from that. I never heard that again after that. So as of now, there's like three different positions.
Starting point is 00:30:11 It sounds like they have, you know, things coming from three different sides. and he tells me that he feels like that there's one on his side of the window, which is on, he's on my left side. So on my right side would be the side that the other ones were coming from. So on our left, he said like up the hill where I saw those eyes, he felt like some noise was coming from back there. And I kind of, I was hearing, to me it sounded like things dropping from the trees, like leaves dropping and hitting the tent. Like just small little bitty noises, not big noises, like not big rocks, none of that. It was just little, just little bitty things dropping. So in my head, I assumed, you know, leaves are falling, maybe acorns.
Starting point is 00:30:58 And it didn't really sound like they were going all over the campground. It just sounded like it was hitting our tent. So it's possible that they were throwing little pebbles trying to get reactions out of us or I mean, I'm not sure. To me, I just, I try to be a realist and I try to explain everything. And I'm like, no, that was just leaves, you know. We could hear pebbles being thrown at the tent. You can hear them hit the tent because Carrie said that she thought it was leaves falling.
Starting point is 00:31:31 I was like, no, I don't think there's any leaves falling in me. That's when she realized that they were throwing rocks at the tent. So we're kind of laying down, listening to that at this point. And maybe I rock every 10 or 15 seconds. I think they was just trying to see if we was awake, like if they can get a reaction out of us. It's the only thing I could come up with of why they would be doing that, besides immature.
Starting point is 00:31:58 So now the one that came down from the mountain on my left is probably within arms reach. Because I'm close to the edge of the tent. If I would have stuck my left arm as far, out as I could and maybe lean a little bit, I probably could have touched it. That's how close it sounded like these footsteps were. And also, directly to my left is a window that was open. I had a flashlight. I had a little headlight. And at any moment, I could have turned the light on to take a look out the window and see what it was, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I didn't want to see. the one on the right, I don't know if he kicked the fold-up, the little fold-up chairs that we bring
Starting point is 00:32:48 like the little aluminum chairs. I don't know if he kicked it or moved it, hit it with whatever, but the chair got moved. Then he goes around to the opposite side of the tent. He's still on the right side, but he goes to the, or feet in of the tent where there was a dollar store bag
Starting point is 00:33:07 that we had used to put. trash and it was outside the tent. Well, he picked it up. You can hear it. You know, the whole time it's moving, he takes it up. It's like he looks at it and he puts it back down. So yeah, at this point we're surrounded. They're around the tent.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Like you can just hear noises coming from kind of everywhere. It's just, it's getting, it's getting like you can feel the moment building. Like it's getting scary, it's getting intense. it kind of just like the noise of the smaller noises kept happening and then to me we had um a little a chair on the by the door of the tent and we had a little uh plastic bag with some trash we had in it we kind of put it in the bag and you know set it down next to the door and i heard something um kind of like the bag moves like something kind of like either hit it moved it kicked it something And it wasn't like a big move, but something touched the back.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Definitely touched it. Not long after that, well, the entire time, I forgot to tell you, we have brought an air horn with us just because, just to feel safe, if something comes around, you know, blow it, we couldn't really have any, you know, guns or anything on us because he's a felon and things like that. So Airhorn was our best pet. The whole time we're laying there, he's telling me, he's like, I need to do something. I need to do something.
Starting point is 00:34:32 And I said, no, just lay down. Just don't do anything. Don't move. Don't, you know, like I didn't want to make it worse. I didn't want to antagonize them. I didn't want, you know, them to feel intimidated. I was kind of just hoping they would, you know, kind of look around and then leave. You know, like, just that's not what happened.
Starting point is 00:34:51 So. And then I remember, like, I remember this moment, like it was yesterday. And then I'm staring up straight up. I'm not trying to look anywhere, but straight up. to the sky. And I end up, you know, looking to the, a little bit to the left anyway, and I can see the side of tent. And I'm like, man, I hope this mother effort don't touch the tent. And before I could even get that thought out, it touched the tent.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Like, he put his finger, like, it hurt, whatever, put his finger in the tent and slid it down, like about six inches. And then then hurried up and pulled his finger back like it, like something scared him. I hear like the jingle of like, you know, the two pieces of the zipper, they have the two little parts you hold for the zipper where the two meet. I heard that kind of like make a noise, like kind of like something touched it and moved it or like it cleaned together or something. And then I think that's when Todd couldn't handle it anymore. He thought, I guess, that they were coming into the tent. He thought like they were trying to get in just from hearing that. I don't know if they were just touching it just to be curious.
Starting point is 00:36:01 or, you know, oh, this makes a sound, or if they really were, I don't think they were going to come in, but you never know. So he freaked out and he jumped up and he blew the air horn. He tried to scream, but he was so like, I guess adrenaline pumping and all. Like his voice didn't come out as normal. It kind of like was cracked and high pitched and he couldn't really scream, but he yelled, you know, like he blew the horn twice, I think. And then he yelled, get the F out of here. I felt like I needed to do something. And I kept telling, carry that.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Like, I'm a convicted felon, so I can't have a gun. So I had an air horn, which is that, you know, that I bring that anytime I go backpacking or camping in case I get lost or whatever. I had the truck keys, you know, with the alarm. And I had a pocket knife. That's it. So I'm in bad shape if something would go down. I'm already on my back. You don't mean?
Starting point is 00:37:00 You don't never want to start. fight from on your back no matter what you're fighting against. Bigfoot or anybody or you. And it just, I kept thinking about that. Like, I'm, one of the thoughts that crossed my mind multiple times was I'm never going to see my kids again. And after a few times that thought crossed in my mind, I was, I was really starting to think, like, man, I got to figure out a way to distract these things, get them to me. That way, at least you can get home and get to the kids. Like, I'm starting to, self-sacrifice thinking just so she you know so one of us can make it home and tell this damn story
Starting point is 00:37:37 um where she kept talking me out of it kept talking me out of it kept talking me out of it kept talking me out of the whole 35 minutes well the icing on the cake for me was whenever one of them either accidentally kicked the tent i don't i don't know what happened but i know i heard my zipper Not a zipper, like whenever it's zipping, but just that jingle of a zipper when you're grabbing it or trying to do something, just, you know, that noise. And I lost it. So I blew the air horn. While, as I'm getting out of the sleeping bag, I'm blowing the air horn. I'm hollering.
Starting point is 00:38:16 And I feel like, I thought I would have been hollering the loudest I've ever hollered in my life. But it was like in those dreams to where you try to hollering, nothing comes out. like that's exactly what happened really was i screen as loud as i could and barely anything came out so i hop up and i immediately go to the windows with my light i'm looking expecting to see something you know maybe running away or kind of just ducking you know i'm expecting to see the last little peak of something before you know before it gets away and i don't see anything at all. There's not much brush there. So I don't know where they went. Like I guess they just grabbed the tree and did that thing they do. They just stay still and you could walk right by him
Starting point is 00:39:03 and not even know it. But I really, that's just a guess. I don't know what happened, but they were going very fast. And the time it took to me to get up off my back on my feet, not even all the way on my feet. Once I got my feet under me, that was it. I was blowing a horn and hollering. So I stood up, finished blowing the horn, grabbed the light, and I'm looking. So a matter of four seconds from when I started to come out of my sleeping bag until I started looking with the light, a matter of four or five seconds, and I didn't see anything. We kind of like both just jumped up, turn on our headlamps. We were looking out the windows to see if we saw anything, but at that time, I didn't see anything. I was just, I was freaking out. I wanted to get into
Starting point is 00:39:54 the car. I wanted to get out of there. I didn't want to be in the area anymore. All right. So we blow the air horn. I don't see anything out of the windows. We just kind of start grabbing like whatever we can. Necessities are, you know, important stuff, which wasn't much, pretty much just a backpack and my wallet, I think, and her backpack and her wallet. We left everything else there, including my phone that was on record unknowingly. I get in the truck, and we take off. And he's like, no, we're fine. We blew the air horn. They're not here. And I'm like, but you don't know if they're going to come back. You know, like, I just, I wanted to be away from the place. So I'm freaking out. I'm like, can we please get in the car? We're gathering up a couple of things.
Starting point is 00:40:40 but right after we had heard the owl sounds, which I got to jump back again because I keep forgetting things, right after we heard the owl sounds, he grabbed his phone and you started recording, right after the owl sounds and the song Bird Whistle. And it was just kind of picking up like little, I guess little things that were thrown. And the things that I was hearing, it kind of picked up. So as we jumped up and gathered all of our things, his phone was somewhere in the sleeping bag or something. And he kind of just threw it in there, like didn't even think about it. We got up, we grabbed, you know, our backpack, a couple of things and the keys, and we ran for the car.
Starting point is 00:41:18 While we're in the car, I'm kind of just looking around. I don't see anything. I'm just, I'm ready to get out of there, you know? So we go, it's like a maze to get out of there. There's so many different turns down this rock gravel road. It was so far in there. We drove for a while to get in there. So it took forever to get out.
Starting point is 00:41:35 By the time we finally got out, we found the main road. went to some gas station, I think. We kind of sat there for a little bit, just kind of talking like what the heck just happened, you know, trying to kind of make sense of everything. Now, as soon as we take off and you can't hear our tires and the rocks anymore, that's whenever you hear these things start doing this noise. I don't know what it is. But it's just like a, it's almost like a ape grunt, like a gorilla grunt to where they
Starting point is 00:42:07 kind of talk with that, you know, like with that breath, I guess. It kind of sounds like that sometimes. Other times it sounds almost like an alien. Like, you know, the people who got to have those voice boxes, man, in their throat, and they got to talk with that. Kind of sounded like that. What got me about it was there was definitely some kind of dialogue with this sound. You can tell by the way they're making the sounds that they communicate with whatever
Starting point is 00:42:36 this sound was. And yeah, so anyway, we want to road. I'll get back to that later. But we drive and we get to town and we make it to a little store and we sit there just kind of questioning what just happened. You know, we're just doing self-checks and stuff like that until daylight. And then we, I think we grabbed a drink or maybe a sausage biscuit and took off to go back. And then once it started getting done. daylight because this was like right before daylight we um we hauled out of there so I guess about 30 minutes
Starting point is 00:43:13 later it kind of was starting to get daylight so we decided like okay let's go back let's take a look around let's get our stuff because we still had another destination to get to this was just like you know the stop before so when we went back um everything was bright beautiful um songbirds we actually saw like three deer not far from our campsite you know everything was thriving in the morning So we pull up and we immediately go into the tent. It doesn't look like anything's touched. When we left, the door, we kind of left open. But everything looked exactly the same.
Starting point is 00:43:50 Nothing was moved. Nothing was like ransacked. Like if it was a random animal, I'm assuming they would go in there and move things around. I mean, I don't know. But so we went in. He grabbed his phone and he's like, it was still recording that entire time. So we were kind of excited to, you know, listen to that. So after he grabbed this phone, we kind of looked around and I was like,
Starting point is 00:44:11 I want to go up to the top of the hill, you know, kind of where I seen that one kind of looking at us. So I go up to what I think is the tree. I'm still not 100% sure, but I'm 95% sure that was the tree that he was standing behind. Looking at it the next day from right by it, he was definitely seven feet, six to seven feet minimum. is how tall this thing was, now that I'm looking at the tree. So I'm just kind of looking around on the ground, maybe seeing if I could find a friend or anything. And I kind of glanced down towards the tent,
Starting point is 00:44:48 and then I see that the tree that he was using as a hide spot, it has a very, very unobstructed view, except for a few big pine trees here and there of the river corridor trail. But where the trees positioned, And you really can't see it from the trail, so to say. You can't see that part of it anyway, but that part of it can see the whole trail. So I'm thinking like maybe that's one of those, there are little spots that they go to, you know, observe or whatever. And we moved a little further down the mountain and we found a couple of tracks.
Starting point is 00:45:25 I mean, we found some tracks. I'm not sure exactly if it's, you know, human or whatever. I mean, I took pictures of my foot next to them just to kind of get comparison. And like I took a picture down from the campsite from his angle where he was up on the top of the hill. Just kind of like trying to, I don't know, I guess get the layout. But we kind of looked around a little bit. You can kind of see like a game trail up there. I guess where the deer and all made it.
Starting point is 00:45:54 And then we went back down. We packed the tent up. We walked to, I think the rocks again and looked around. He found a footprint there too. I'm not sure. We took a picture of that. I'm not sure if that's, you know, I can't be sure what it is exactly.
Starting point is 00:46:10 But they, in the shape of a foot, pressed into the leaves, way bigger than my feet. I mean, I only wear a size nine and a half foot. I could probably fit almost two of them with lengthwise. And I could probably fit three of them widthwise. I mean, it's not a very deep print, but you can tell it's a print.
Starting point is 00:46:30 I put my shoe next to it and took a picture. I don't think I sent you that picture, and I have to. So that's, that was cool. You know, we found a print. So we walked down to the river, and we walking down the river, just kind of talking and, you know, enjoying the scenery. The substrate on the side, I don't know if you can even call it substrate, maybe it's more like a gravel mineral.
Starting point is 00:46:53 It's kind of hard. Like whenever some of it gets wet, you know, and you pack it down, it gets pretty hard. Like if I step on it, you can barely see that I even step there. If I jumped on it, it didn't do much better at all. Like you still barely see that I passed right there. But a little bit over to the left from where this was where I was looking and making stuff, making prints with my shoe, there's a print or two. I think it was two.
Starting point is 00:47:24 Not a very big one lengthwise, but it was probably about maybe. 10 inches and about 4 inches across. And it was about 2 inches down into this, whatever, this rock or silk, whatever it was. So whatever made these prints, was heavy.
Starting point is 00:47:45 When I first saw them, I was like, well, that's just somebody that came swimming with a bit, you know, they didn't have any swim shoes or whatever. They just walk in barefoot. And I was like, there's no way. There's no way that a human can weigh that much. Especially with a foot that small. we uh we you know we walked probably another mile down the river and we hike back to the truck pack up
Starting point is 00:48:05 pack up camp and we had the broken bow and that is whenever we started listening to the tape we looked around a little bit and then we kind of left and we went on our way and then um on the way to our other destination is when we decided to listen to the recording and we kind of like freaked out a minute and had to pull over and just kind of you know listening to to everything that happened and we kind of just discussed it and the entire weekend in Oklahoma I was scared I was on edge I didn't want to even look at the woods I was very jumpy for a while after that I just I I don't know I was I was trying to figure out what just happened you know like it felt like it felt it almost
Starting point is 00:48:53 felt like it didn't just happen like did that really just happen and I'm like we're talking about it. I'm like, like we both experienced the same thing. Like something definitely did happen. But it just felt so odd. And so I don't know, like it wasn't real because I've,
Starting point is 00:49:09 like I said, I've heard and watched so many podcasts and all that. And this was my first experience. And it's like it made me, I mean, now I know for sure they're real. You know, like I always kind of figured.
Starting point is 00:49:21 But now it's like they're definitely there. It kind of made me interested to go back. but I've never made it back because I'm just, I'm scared. You know, like I'm, I'm curious, but I'm not that curious. So you guys actually get back to camp and you realize, oh, my phone is here and, you know, it's been recording this whole time. And I'll play about the first three minutes of you guys get leaving the area. And then I'll play what happens next.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Let's get the fucking no. We need to go. We need to go. Let's get in the car. What the f***, man? Can we please get in the car? Let's get in the car. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:50:36 Let me see what you're at. I just want to go. I'm sorry, please let me leave. Please. Please. You're good. They're fucking going. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:50:49 I want to go in the car. I'm still scared. Bruh. I want to go on the car. We're going. I want to go on the car. Holy fuck. I couldn't fucking take them in this.
Starting point is 00:51:06 We're gonna get in a f***ed? No, no, no, no. Wait, Carrie. Okay, I just need one here. I can't breathe. Please. Please, please. Holy.
Starting point is 00:51:24 You don't need a shirt on. Let's just get in the car. Bro, you all right now. You don't know that? Believe me, you good. Wait from me. You're so scared. They would have got us.
Starting point is 00:51:41 I'm gonna be. I told you, dude, they've been here. Okay, I don't want to talk about it, please. I want to go. I'm sorry that we're here. No. So what are you doing? No, we'll come back.
Starting point is 00:52:24 You don't go every day? Like this. Okay, okay, okay. So I'm so fucking everything. I'm sorry. I'm going through the passenger door, okay? The bottom's not the bottom. So you guys are obviously scared and who could blame you.
Starting point is 00:53:31 What happens next? and I don't know how well this will translate over a podcast. I'll include a link if you want to listen to the full, I think it's like two and a half hours or three hours after this, but almost when you don't amplify it, you can almost hear it better because when you amplify sound, it kind of pulls everything up. But on the spectrograph, you can tell there's two somethings walking around this camp. And you can also tell there's two somethings talking. It's right above a whisper and it's really hard to hear. But I'll play about two minutes of it.
Starting point is 00:54:07 But you hear these things talking or something talking. You know, the audience could really hear that. But when I very first started, I thought, oh, these are hogs. The more you listen to it, though, the more they're not hogs. And it sounds almost more like a gorilla or something. But you can hear them talking. Again, it's just above a whisper. and there's a lot of clicks in there.
Starting point is 00:57:10 But again, if you go listen to the whole thing, and I'll include a link if it's cool with you, Todd, when you hear it and you just crank it up with your headphones without me amplifying it, you can definitely hear it better. The whole two-hour and 45-minute experience is all on YouTube under Costa Todd sounds. And I'll definitely include a link underneath this episode. it's around the 30, 35 minute mark is when they're leaving camp. Do you think that there was more than two?
Starting point is 00:57:44 Yes. About the three minute and 32nd mark is the first whistle. And then, you know, it just kind of continues after that. But it's like a really loud, really loud whistle, really loud and a long whistle. And then it just stops. And then, you know, let's see, the first one was at three minutes and 30 seconds. the second one was at four minutes and 12 seconds. So, you know, every couple of minutes it was happening at first,
Starting point is 00:58:12 but then it kind of slowed down, but it happened throughout the whole time we were there. There was something on the other side, the river, because that's where it sounded like it was coming from, the whistle. There was like a almost a 45-degree turn right there in the river. So where it would have been is like a point that would stick out. And it's elevated, probably like a 20, 35-foot bluff. So I'm thinking it was right up in there somewhere watching this whole thing play out.
Starting point is 00:58:42 And, you know, watching always whatever you call them, brothers, I don't know. When you guys very first saw the eye glow, first it was one eye, then you guys saw two eyes. Was it eyes shine or was it eye glow? It wasn't like an eye shine, though. It was more just like a glow. And then I don't it kind of sounds weird, but if you would move the headlamp off of the eye or whatever the light was, it would kind of glow for a little bit after and then kind of, you know, fade out. So it wasn't like an eye shine. It was like a glow.
Starting point is 00:59:20 Like it's, it's really hard to explain. It was white. It was bright white. It wasn't like off white. It wasn't yellow. I've heard people see red, you know, all these colors. It was just white. And I seriously, I thought it was an orb until we saw the one up on the hill and it had two right next to each other.
Starting point is 00:59:41 And that kind of set kind of wide apart, not right next to each other. But when it blinked, they both blinked at the same. Like, I could tell it was eyes, you know? Yes, it was reflective. It didn't just glow on its own. But like, if you're looking at it and you turn your light away from it, it seems like that, that, that illumination lasted for another second or two, and then it just kind of went away.
Starting point is 01:00:08 That's the first time I've ever seen anything like that. Let me ask you, I mean, when you see these two things watching you and you guys figure out their eyes, and they appear to be standing relatively high up, why not leave at that point? Why stay? Well, the first one we saw, since it was only one, I was trying to explain it away.
Starting point is 01:00:30 I'm like, maybe that was a firefly, which fireflies are definitely not as big as that was. And fireflies are more like yellowish, greenish looking, then this was white. But I'm just, I guess trying to not freak myself out. I just, I don't know. But at that point, I wasn't sure exactly what it was. I wasn't thinking Bigfoot. I was thinking, oh, there's an animal over there. I mean, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:57 It's dark. But I didn't. think to leave because at that point I wasn't freaked out. I wasn't, honestly, I wasn't freaked out at any of it until I heard the vocal, the owl that turned into chatter. And speaking of the owl sounds, it wasn't exactly like an owl. It was, but it didn't have like that trill that owls have. You know, like it was more flat. And it did sound like an owl, but it just didn't have that that trill that they have, you know? To be honest, dude, I've never. felt threatened. I've asked myself
Starting point is 01:01:32 that lots of times. I never really felt threatened. And the only other thing I have is that I guess I didn't really believe it was happening in the moment until they started coming in the camp. And then yeah, that's when I realized we should have left a long time ago.
Starting point is 01:01:52 Should have left as soon as we started that second one really. At the very beginning of that recording, it almost sounds like something hit your truck. Take a listen. I'll play. Actually, give me one second.
Starting point is 01:02:04 Hey, back it up. Right there. Is that right whenever we were taken off? It's right before you got, you come out of the tent. Take a listen. Oh, man.
Starting point is 01:02:29 That is insane, man, because I heard it just now when you played it, but I've never heard it before. And, like, I'll still never listen to the whole recording. This is so long. And I get kind of stuck in,
Starting point is 01:02:42 I kind of assess over these one little pieces for a while, and I'll move on and, you know, get stuck on another piece that I hear for a while and try to analyze that. And it's just a lot of crazy stuff, man. You know, there's so much going on in the recording that you sent me. I still haven't had a chance to release it down and go through all of it. But, you know, those voices are creepy. And again, I'll include a link. And if you plug your headphones in and crank it way up after talk.
Starting point is 01:03:12 and Kerry leave, you can definitely hear voices talking and kind of walking around. It sounds like they're touching stuff or moving stuff in your camp. It's fascinating, man. Scary night, for sure. I ask everyone on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is? What's your take? I think they're flesh and blood. I don't think they're in a dimensional.
Starting point is 01:03:32 I don't think they're spiritual, all that thing, all that stuff. I think they're here. And, I mean, I mean, I don't know. I know they were communicating because, I mean, I heard that. I don't know. It's a controversial topic, but I think that the government does have them and that they know what they are. And, you know, I think they're real. They're here.
Starting point is 01:03:55 And I think it's known. And it's just, it's a scary topic for people. At first, I was all for flesh and blood, 100% flesh and blood, some kind of undiscovered, hybrid, human ape, whatever. but after those nights and really getting into the subject, I don't know. I won't answer that. That's the answer I have is I don't know. Yeah, well, you know, I don't know is that's an okay answer to. You know, scary night that you and Kerry had.
Starting point is 01:04:31 And, you know, I really appreciate you guys coming on and sharing what happened to you and sharing the audio. I really enjoyed chatting with both of you. Yes, sir.
