Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1154 Strange Experiences While Hunting
Episode Date: May 11, 2025Tonight I am going to chat with 3 individuals, all hunters and all of them have experienced something they cannot explain while hunting. Joe who is from Ohio had a strange experience while hunting. Ro...ss who is also an experienced hunter writes "I recently picked up my bow to go hunting for whitetail after about a 15 year hiatus. I have moved to Columbia SC from NC . But I was raised in the mountains of West Virginia. We're I was hunting in SC was part of the urban hunting that was provided almost in the city right on the outskirts I had moved to a apartment and found 15 acres were there were at least 6 deer on it . 4 does and two bucks was what I have seen . Now this was last October. I was hunting from the ground and I had 4 does run by me very spooked and then 3 of those deer ran back by me . As I was sitting there I noticed that there was what I thought was a wild hog on the ground about 50 yards away from me. As I struggled to see what it was ,looking back I believe this animal was fazing into our reality. Then we will wrap up with Ryan who is from Oregon. Ryan describes hearing what sounded like people talking but could not figure who or what it was. In the same area he describes seeing this ball of light that was 20 feet across go down into the canyon.

It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind
and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up
and that shocked me.
They don't make people that big.
The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach.
I've never seen anything moves like that in my life.
They were screaming at each other in gibberish.
It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards.
I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw were bears.
What happened what are you reporting?
Get somebody out here.
What's going on now, sir?
That's son of a bitch is about six.
bitch is about six foot nine I don't know.
Do you see a bouncer?
Yes, I'm looking right here.
Uh-uh.
This is Cameron from Queensland and you are now listening to Sasquatch Chronicles.
Welcome to the show, everyone.
Thanks for being here tonight.
Got a great show plan for you.
You know, there's many encounters or experiences that people have when it comes to
Sasquatch where they don't actually see the creature.
And sometimes there's more terrifying than when people actually see them.
but I've taken many phone calls over the years and I've talked to hunters.
And a lot of the conversation goes like this, like what you're going to hear tonight.
And it's these types of experiences to where hunters can't really chalk it up to a bear or a cougar or just very odd things that have happened to them.
And we'll be chatting with Joe.
He comes to us from Ohio.
He had this very strange experience out there in 2008.
Ross, who is from South Carolina, had a very recent incident happen to him.
And then we'll kind of wrap up with Ryan from Oregon.
And he's had three separate things that happened to him,
including seeing this huge ball of light,
probably the biggest one I've ever heard of out there in Oregon.
So get ready for some strange experiences from hunters.
If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email.
My email address is Wes at

Let's jump into it tonight.
I want to welcome Ross to the show.
Ross, thanks for coming on.
No problem.
Thanks for having it.
Yeah, and you had this very weird experience
out there in Ohio.
Take me back to 2008.
What were you doing and what happened?
Okay.
In July of 2023, I moved to Columbia, South Carolina.
I'm originally from West Virginia.
I grew up hunting and fishing in the mountains, hollers, you know,
black bears and white tail and boar and coyotes and all the critters is out there, you know,
a very familiar with them.
In October of that year,
We moved in some apartments outside of Columbia, and I noticed there was 15 acres of land beside the apartments.
So I applied for a urban hunting permit, and they approved it.
So I got a crossbow and started the hunting area.
In October of that year, I went in, it was an evening hunt.
I went there like 3 o'clock and was sitting down, and I hadn't been there probably 30 minutes.
and I put out a bag of corn the day before, and it was gone that day.
You know, it's like a 30-pound bag or whatever you get from Walmart.
And it was gone that day.
I was like, wow, there's something in here really eating that corn.
So I looked over and three deer, four deer run past me.
And the way the land set up, it's like a road, and there's a power line right away,
and there's three patches of woods, and I was sitting in the power line right away.
and four deer run past me and they run through the power line right away and run into the patch of woods that's in front of me.
And then three immediately run back out.
The fourth deer never come out.
I sit there for a minute and they was moving so fast I couldn't get my crossbow up.
But I looked over and I seen what I thought was a hog at the time, but it was translucent.
It was, you know, it looked like the predator, it was see-through when it was down on all fours.
by the time it had moved in front of me and stood up,
it looked like the electric man,
the tags that you see on the old electric cords with the,
you know,
the blackout line with the little sharp edges is what it looked like.
It was probably about seven and a half foot tall.
I couldn't see no details as far as facial features or hands.
It just looked like, almost like,
uh,
what you would think a phantom would look like,
you know,
hunting the deer. You know, the deer's was hurted past me, you know, thinking back, the deer's
run right by me, and then they immediately run back by, so I believe that the patch of woods
they run in, there was another one in there, and it had obviously captured one of them because it
never come back out. And I'm like, oh, my God, what is that? You know, I didn't know what it was,
and I was sitting there with my crossbow raised up at it, and I finally let my crossbow
down. It seemed like I turned me. I waved my hand at it, you know, like, am I really seeing this?
And it stood there for a few seconds, and then I heard a bard owl go off in the distance, and then it waved its hand at me, and then it took off.
But in the meantime, of all that happening, I'm like, what the hell is this thing doing here?
I'm thinking this in my mind.
And I guess what they call mine speak, I got this thought that it said out where there's two abandoned buildings on the property.
It said, I'm here.
We're headed toward the coast, and we're staying in these abandoned buildings.
is all I got.
And I was pretty shook up.
I'm actually,
you know, shaking right now thinking about it.
But I went and got some coconut cookies
that had been sitting on the counter for like a month
and put them out there in the next day it was gone.
And the only thing I can figure is the four deer that run past me,
there had to be another one in there hunting.
And the three that run back,
you know,
it killed the fourth one.
And the three that run back was,
was the ones that survived, I guess.
The voice that you described hearing,
was it your voice you were hearing?
No, it wasn't so much a voice.
It was like a thought, you know, like it was, you know, the thought,
I'm like, what the hell is these things doing here?
What's this thing going here?
And it was like, I'm here.
We're traveling toward the coast and we're standing to abandoned buildings.
And that's all I got.
It's a very strange account, but I hear accounts like this from hunters off the air often.
But most of the time they'll say, you know, I don't know what it was, but they'll describe basically what you're describing.
Even the mind speak, which is concerning, because I've had many prominent people on the show that have experienced that.
This area where this happened to you, have you been back there hunting?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I walk back there all the time.
And it's like I said, it's within walking distance of my house.
And, you know, I don't, I don't see anything when I go back there or get any weird
feelings.
It's just one of the things I can't explain, but it, you know, it sure shook me up.
Yeah, would shake me up too.
What was kind of your whole take on Bigfoot before this happened?
I've been like a hunter in my whole life.
I've never seen one of these things.
I'm like, man, there's nothing to this.
You know, people are just seeing bears or something.
And, you know, but after I seen this, I really believe that there is something out there that we can't explain.
It's more spiritual.
You know, the people like some of the finding bigfoot guys always say that they're apes.
They're not apes.
You know, they can't, this thing was phasing in and out of our reality.
It was translucent.
You know, you could not, you could see the outline, you could see through it, but you can see the outline of it.
And no animal that I've ever seen could do that.
my opinion is there either nephalum or there's something that we don't even know about you know
that could be something that we've never that nobody's ever documented or was no history
beside the natives always talked about Bigfoot and Sasquatch and you know have all these
paintings and history of them so I think they're spiritual I think you know they can be in our
and they're physical when they're here, but they can actually go into another dimension
as far as, you know, that's why you'll find tracks in the snow leading and then they'll
just stop. I mean, how can you explain that? And I've had the predator described to me
many times from eyewitnesses. In fact, a couple episodes ago, I played a clip from a cop
that I had on and he saw it.
And it was kind of like what you were saying except for when it took off.
He could actually see it was one of these creatures or appeared to be one of these creatures.
But before that, he was describing the predator type look, you know, like water in the air.
Makes you wonder what in the world is going on.
Because this does get reported often.
And it's like, I don't know what that is.
I know we talked prior to you coming on the air
and you had said this was the only thing that happened.
Maybe they were just kind of passing through the area.
It's hard to say.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
Because there's really, I mean, there's woods that connect it,
but there's houses all over the place.
I mean, you know, in West Virginia,
I would think you'd see a big foot there.
But here in Columbia, I mean, it's city.
There's patches of woods, but, you know,
it's not deep woods where you think one of these things would be.
Well, I'm so glad that you came on, Ross, because like I said, you know, and I told you this offline, I get a lot of reports like this, man, where hunters will see this and it's like, I'm not really sure what I saw.
I've had hunters tell me, I think it was an alien, I think it was a ghost, I think it was, and it's hard to say because what they're describing is pretty much what you're describing.
and I think you kind of hit on the head.
There's more out there than we realize.
And a lot of times when I ask hunters to come on and share it,
they'll go, no, because they don't know what happened.
They don't know what it was, and it's so uncomfortable.
A lot of people won't come forward and share it.
So I'm really glad that you did, Ross,
and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to come on
and share the strange experience.
Yeah, no problem, Wes.
next up on the show i want to welcome joe joe thanks for being here yeah thanks for having me
yeah you knew you had this encounter back in uh 2008 in ohio prior to the strange experience
when you're out there hunting what was kind of your thoughts on saskatch um before the
encounter and i must i must be clear it was an encounter not a sighting but it was pretty intense
for what it was.
I had,
I wasn't,
I wasn't negative towards it or positive towards it.
I wouldn't have thought anybody was crazy for thinking something like that.
But then again,
I,
you know,
I never gave it a whole lot of thought.
It was always interesting,
but I never gave it a bunch of thought.
I got into,
I've always been an outdoorsman,
bow hunted,
fished,
you know,
bird dog hunted,
you know,
pheasant, turkey,
whatever.
And I was going to get into,
coon hunting at the time. And I don't know how much you know about coon hunting, but the dogs,
they go for some pretty big money when you get into, you know, that type of commitment.
And a guy I know end up having a dog and I wanted one. I was all in. I'm like, I'm just going to buy it.
He's like, no, no, no. He said, come out. We'll go hunting. And then if you like her, buy her.
If you don't know hard feelings, you can do what you want to do.
So we met here in town and we drove out to East Branch tributary at Baroque State Park.
And it's several thousands of acres.
And the road branches off, goes back in ways to a couple of houses way at the end of this road.
but there was a road that cut up off to the left
and in this field was nothing but a pump jack
or a oil well.
And he had hunted there a few times.
And so that's where we went to turn her loose
and see what she would do.
I can't, I can't be positive on this or not,
but I thought when we shut the VHEC wall,
there was a sharp whistle
that you could hear from inside the car,
car. And I kind of thought that was strange, but never give it much thought. We got out. We turned the dogs loose. Now it was me,
Scott, and Bill and Bill son Tyler. They don't, I won't mention their last names because they're,
they are, uh, they are over it. They are not, you know, they want nothing to do with what happened.
And we turned the dogs loose. There was five dogs. One dog had a tracking collar on it.
At this time, in 08, it would have been like an analog type, not the new digital GPS.
I have a garment for my dog now, and it tells you where it was two years ago.
And we turned them loose, and you were standing there, turned the lights off,
and we're just listening for the dogs, and, you know, eventually they fall a treat,
and you walk to them and find out what you got.
Well, this...
scream let out and I can't, I can't mimic it.
I mean, can't really describe what it was other than it was very forceful and very horrifying sounding.
And it seemed like the first screen that happened was directed towards us.
Now, keep in mind, you're standing there in the dark, headlamps off.
nobody's talking nobody wants to register what's going on and at this time we're looking at each other
like i don't know i mean what could do that you know well then it happened again well the dogs
start barking but not at what made that sound they're all down there treed and you know when they're
treat, you go to them. We were supposed to go to them. It screamed again. So there's three total
screams. And this time, it screamed at the dogs. Well, from the time that it screamed at the dogs to the
time that it stopped, whatever this scream was, took off, left to right, towards the dogs.
not coming at us.
It was running to the dogs.
And it covered so much ground, so fast, in the dark.
Your brain's trying to process, like, what the hell can run in the dark?
That fast was no light without any direction, just through the timber.
And it was bipedal.
I mean, Angulids sound different.
Things with four legs.
We have horses.
They sound different when they run.
And you can hear the weight of a horse when it runs.
And it ran right to left or I'm sorry, left to right.
Very heavy footsteps.
Breaking branches, thrashing, bashing,
the dogs go silent.
And we aren't going in there.
It's not happening.
It wasn't, you know, everybody at the time, they're like, oh, it was probably a black bear or a bobcat.
Let's be serious here.
They don't cause that kind of carnage in their line of travel.
And we weren't going in.
So we got back in the cars, headed back down to the road.
And as I mentioned in the beginning of the story, one of the dogs had a tracking collar on.
And it wasn't working real well.
Couldn't find the dogs.
We drove up and down the roads, maybe trying to hear them bark again.
Wasn't happening.
And in one of the passes up the road, I caught the reflective collars.
They reflect on the dogs that they wear.
And it caught in the headlight real quick.
Just a glimmer of reflection of a bright orange collar.
And all five dogs were wadded up in a 36-inch diameter.
culvert running under the road and would not come out.
I had to reach in and pull each dog out by their neck to get them out,
and they were digging, they did not want to come out of there.
So whatever ran from us to them,
forced them all into that culvert,
and they weren't willing to come out of there.
I mean, you know, guides use Walker and plot dogs and black and tan coonhounds
to hunt bears and mountain lions.
mountain lions.
There's not much that five of them are afraid of,
especially when you get them together.
And they would not come out of that culvert.
So we got them out and we left.
Well, it ate at me for a couple of days.
And a good friend of mine and myself went back up there in the daylight.
I'm talking like nine in the morning so you know that there's plenty of daylight last.
kids and we go in and you can see where something had ran in a single file line down the side of
that hill in direction that the dogs were in limb snapped branches broke big impressions one in front
of the other just running down the hill now you could see you know into the dirt that you
It was a foot shape.
Now, I didn't stick around long enough to see if they had five toes or two toes or whatever.
I was and, you know, it was good enough for me.
I was getting out of there.
But fast forward, probably four years after that, there was a Bigfoot thing that, like it came to the, I don't know, they set up.
and you told your stories and whatever.
And this guy that was telling the story,
that was holding the meeting type thing,
was actually writing a book.
And he,
you know,
they asked you if anybody had any encounters,
whatever.
I said, yeah,
I raised my hand.
And he's like,
okay,
tell us your story.
And I told him exactly what I told you.
And he,
for lack of a better term,
it's like he tried to put words,
in my mouth. He's like, so what did it smell like when you, when you, when you had this encounter?
I'm like, I didn't smell anything. Are you positive? You didn't smell anything. I'm like, I didn't
even see anything. I was like, but this was what happened. And he was wanting to put his,
put my story in his book. And I didn't care. I was okay with it, you know, but he never did
send me a copy of the book. And I can't for the life of me remember his name or the name of the
book, but he kept trying to embellish it. And he actually called me about a week or so after that
little town hall meeting type thing kept trying to add things to the story. And I'm like,
listen, man, I'm up front with you. I told you what happened. I mean, it might lack the
razzle dazzle that some stories have, but that's the way that it happened. And I never did hear
from him again after that. I never did get a copy of the book either. Yeah, that's too bad.
It kind of sums up most of the Big Fort World, though.
It's always the guys are like, oh, this guy is a liar, this guy's a hoax, or this guy's whatever.
Listen to me, I'm the one with the answers.
It's always those guys, and I've caught a few of them doing this when they talk to eyewitnesses
and they want to add more to the encounter than what's there, which doesn't help the subject.
You don't remember the guy's name?
I don't.
I may ask my wife, she may remember his name.
A friend of ours who told us about this, he was kind of up there up front with the guy.
He may remember his name.
And if I could ever get it, I would let you know.
But yeah, he kept trying to embellish you a little bit.
And I'm like, look, man, I'm sorry I didn't come face to face with a 12-foot-tall Sasquatch,
but I said, that's not what happened.
And kind of going back to your encounter, I've been around hunting dogs before.
They're like trained military soldiers.
I mean, they're focused and a little crazy too.
I've seen these dogs.
There's not much that scares them.
But for listening to scream at you, then scream at the dogs, then make its way towards the dogs,
and have them all huddled down there in the ditch.
And I could see you going back the next day and being like, oh, there's tracks and kind of
pointing together what happened. But while this was going on, what did you guys think it was?
Well, I had seen a few things prior to that. I mean, it was always interesting to me, but I never
give it a thought as, you know, it's not something that I particularly followed all the time,
every time, until that happened. And honestly, it had such a profound effect on me that I've,
I mean, I've watched something about it or listened to something about it or read something about it
pretty much ever since then.
It's been, you know, it has an effect on you to a,
I mean, I can only imagine being face to face
and seeing what I heard how that would have affected me,
but I know what I went through and how it did affect me.
And I'm a bow hunter, you know,
and I, it was a long time before I could comfortably walk
to the tree stand in the mornings in the dark,
you know, without thinking that every snap and in squeal
and screech out that you hear is as a Sasquatch.
And to this day, honestly, I prefer to hunt in the morning over the evening because it's getting
daylight and not dark.
So, and that, I mean, might sound silly, but it's true.
No, I don't think it sounds silly at all.
I've had many encounters where people are out there and something happens and they'll
give up hunting.
I've had many encounters where guys have these hunting dogs.
and a lot of times when they go after these creatures,
the guys never get all their dogs back
or there's one or two missing.
Why do you think it didn't hurt the dogs?
To me, I think, you know, they can smell better than us,
dogs being that.
They can hear better than us.
I would say when it heard what we heard getting closer to them,
I'd say they just sked out of.
but the only thing I can think of is they were just terrified because I had to pull them out of that culver.
They weren't coming.
They were not coming.
I mean, they were digging in with their toenails trying to stay in there.
So something forced them in there fearfully or they wouldn't have went, you know.
What was impressive, I mean, the screen wouldn't let the screen go.
And they out and they call it a screen, they call it a ground, whatever, it was a combination of all those things.
but it was forceful.
It felt like it would have took so much power to produce that.
And like I said, the first time it did it,
it felt like it was directed to us,
the second time as well.
But the third time, you can, you know, you can kind of,
I don't know, you can kind of detect what way sounds traveling.
I mean, you know, like if you've ever turkey hunted,
you can tell when it gobbles where it gobbled from,
the direction it was.
but the third time it was directed towards those dogs and why it ran to them and not up at us i have no clue
but the stride on the tracks track way i want to say i didn't dive into it looking at you know i
didn't cast it but the track line that it made had a very large stride and uh very very good
and depression depression into the ground uh you know the leaf litter and the soil and the timber is always a lot
softer from the breakdown of the leaves over time.
And it was terrifying.
And it was, I've told a few people about it.
You know, of course, you know, when you're not talking to someone that's like-minded
towards a certain subject, then you're crazy or you're an idiot or that stuff doesn't
work, it doesn't exist and whatever, what have you.
but it did happen.
And I did not see one,
but I have to believe that that's what that was.
Yeah,
it kind of shows that just from the way the dogs reacted,
it was a different type of scream than what they had heard before.
You know, you get a cougar, a mountain lion,
or a bobcat or whatever doing their scream.
Those dogs, that's right up their alley.
That's what they've been waiting for.
And for their reaction to go,
we're going down to the ditch and we're all going to huddle to we're all going to huddle here
it it does sound like one of these creatures i ask everyone on the show what do you think
saskwatch is what's your take okay so i've thought about that a lot and in my opinion
it's a flesh and blood form of a hominoid um it could be an ape i i can't say for sure i don't buy into
the whole UFOs dropping them off and picking them up and shape-shift.
And I would never tell anybody that said that they've seen that happen that it didn't happen
because I've been on the other end of ridicule.
I just don't buy into that.
I think it's an actual flesh and blood creature.
And you wouldn't, you know, when you watch things on them and documentaries on them,
a lot of it is the Pacific Northwest, Canada, California.
Alaska.
But if you get on like a database type thing and look at the sightings across the board,
Ohio has a lot of them.
I didn't know, I did not never, I never knew that.
Oh yeah, a lot comes out of Ohio.
I'd put it right up there with the Pacific Northwest for sure.
And I get reports like this all the time where people are like, what, you know,
what do you think it was?
I mean, and it's almost more scary when you don't see it as opposed to when you see it.
Yeah, it was very terrifying, honestly.
I mean, I joke about it now a little bit, and I still hunt and fish.
It hasn't kept me out of the woods.
And I'm, you know, I've heard lots of stories on your podcast and others like it.
You know, people never going back in and doing what they love to do because, you know, they're fearful of it.
And I get it.
I get it.
What I heard that day was horrifying, creepy.
I don't know how to put it into words.
I know I can't make that sound.
I'm about positive, but you can't make that sound.
I don't wish to ever hear it again.
Yeah, who could blame you?
And I really appreciate you sharing it, Joe,
because, like I said before,
it's a weird encounter.
And a lot of weird encounters come from hunters.
And I really appreciate you taking the time to come on.
I appreciate it, man.
Thanks for having me.
Next up on the show, I want to welcome
Ryan, thanks for being here.
Yeah, hi, Wes. How are you doing?
I'm doing well. Thank you for asking.
And you kind of had a series of very weird things happen to you while out there hunting in Oregon.
This dates back to 2010.
And it leads up to even one of the incidences of seeing this weird light out there.
If you would, take me back to 2010 and walk me into some of these weird.
experiences that you had?
I live in Western Oregon and I've been an outdoorsman my whole life.
There's one of the rivers that's close to where I live at.
I've been fishing it pretty much my 40, 40 plus years and we get summer steelhead up there.
And I was fishing summer steelhead.
It was about 15 years ago.
15 years ago, I was typically I'd fish in the evenings after work, so I'd go up and I'd fish the last four or five hours of daylight and fish right up until the deadline of the, you can fish up till dark in Oregon.
You can't fish in the dark, but you can fish up to like a half hour of sundown or whatever.
And it gets pretty dark.
and so with those fish I would fish late into the evenings and so I was down working these holes that I
fish on a regular basis and I was just about done so I drove up the river that out of my rig
went down and fished there was some about a stretch there maybe a hundred yards long and had
these little pockets of water where the fish would hang and then I'd go through and I'd fish
them pretty quickly, kind of move up the river. And I was just about done for the night. And I got
to the last one and I was out in the water, oh, probably about two or three feet, kind of
stretching out there trying to get my bait into this tight little spot. And all of a sudden,
I had this really weird feeling come over me.
It just made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
And this smell of something just, to me, it smelled like my dad used to refer to it as carrion,
which is, you know, dead animals in the ditch or dead animals,
and then you'd have buzzards eat on it.
He would refer to dead animals like that as carry.
and that's what it smelled like.
It's just all of a sudden it appeared the smell.
And I turned and I looked up the river approximately 50 to 75 yards.
There was some really tall canary grass in there.
I was thinking, hey, it must be a bear or something coming down the river because it was like,
all of a sudden it just hit me.
So I'm real intent.
I'm kind of camoed up and I'm packing a revolver.
So I really wasn't pretty much afraid of anything.
And I'm watching up the river there.
And as I'm standing there, this beaver comes booking down the river, like, I mean, as about as fast as them things can swim.
It went right past me.
I mean, if it would have hit my legs, it would have broke my legs.
It was moving so fast.
It was a big beaver.
But anyway, this sense of something being there was just like really super strong.
And so I'm real intent.
I'm watching that grass.
And I'm like, well, I'm going to start heading up to the rig.
And so I had to go about maybe 50 yards to get up to the pickup.
And so I'm slowly walking out of the water.
And I get over to the bank and I'm looking up there.
And just in my mind, it was like, it just kind of came over me.
And it says it's right there.
Whatever it is is right there.
And at the time, I didn't know what I was dealing with.
I thought I was dealing with a bear.
something like that and I hadn't I hadn't killed any bears yet I I do bear hunt out here and
since then I've I've killed a few and they don't none of them have smelled in fact none of them
have ever smelled bad they and I've always made a point of just kind of smelling them to try to get
the general scent and this thing was just rancet so I just continued up to the pickup and got in my
rig and left so as the years went by I mean this has been
This has been like 15 years ago, something like that, give or take.
I was trying to remember the exact date.
But when I started listening to Sasquatch, actually your show has probably been one of the first ones I listened to.
When I started learning about characteristics of these creatures, you know, I like the smell and some of the things that come over you when you possibly, you're having an encounter.
or like I said, just the hair on the back of my head raised up.
But at the time, I had no idea what I was dealing with.
But after finding out how these things are,
and there was some people had an encounter with a big foot.
I've looked on, I don't know if it was the BFRO.
There was a site that was on wine for a while.
And then it was an old when it came down.
I read a story and tell them what,
where a man and his daughter were hunting up there not too far as the crow flies from where
this spot was at and had an encounter with some of these creatures coming into the camp,
messing with their trailer and stuff.
But anyway, that was my first time I feel like I actually had an encounter with one of these
things.
And I know in the second incident, a lot more things happened, but it is weird kind of
being out there and all of a sudden you get that weird feeling like you're being watched and
that smell coming out of nowhere before this actually happened what was your whole take on
Sasquatch uh my my aunt lived in northern california about 12 miles north of eureka
she lived on the coast there her and her husband on a bar down there and uh they were all
tight with all the locals.
Her husband was from down there.
And then she got to know all.
And they owned this bar for years, 15, 20 years.
And she knew a lot of loggers.
They'd come and eat breakfast, that kind of stuff.
This was back in the late 60s.
And so she had, she heard a lot of stories about Sasquatch down there in that area,
different guys seeing things.
You know, there's a lot of stuff that never got reported.
It was just, you know, talk.
Guys actually seeing them, you know,
and keeping and telling, you know, locals,
but it didn't make it out.
It wasn't like in a book or anything.
And so when I first heard about Bigfoot,
I was probably five years old.
I went down there with my mom.
And she was having some personal issues,
her and her husband.
And so my mom just loaded me up.
And we drove down there for,
we stayed with my aunt for a few days.
my mom was kind of consoling her on the thing.
And then in the same process,
I remember her talking about Sasquatch with my mom,
and it was all serious business.
It wasn't, you know, it wasn't a,
it was a serious conversation.
It wasn't, it was a bunch of hokey-pokey or anything like that.
And so from the time I was little,
and then, you know, I'd heard about Bigfoot.
And then I went with my dad to a movie in a theater
with a friend of ours.
we used to hunt with. I was probably six years old. This would have been maybe a year or two after that.
And they had the, they had the Patterson Gimlin film kind of embedded in that movie. It was kind of
an outdoor movie with fishing and hunting and stuff. And, and they had a picture of that or the video
in there. And so I was just kind of like, well, yeah, there's Bigfoot. And he exists.
And we know he's down there. But then when I was in grade school,
I remember a kid.
I was probably in about six or seventh grade,
and this kid was talking about his neighbor seeing a big foot up there where they lived at.
And I went into that one website just looking at locations.
And somewhere back in the mid-70s,
and it would have been in about this area where this kid was telling me
that there was a big foot up there,
there was a siding up there.
And pretty much you always realize,
I'd never really a bullet.
leaf with me. It's always been, well, they exist, but I always kind of figured they were more
down south, you know, they're not up here as much. And so the second incident happened to me.
It was about three years ago. We were hunting up in northwest Oregon for elk, and we were out
where we were going to hunt at. We were out. It was about two days before the season opened up,
and we were scouting.
We hiked in there.
We were back in about a mile.
And there's a point back in there where we could, you know, get up on that point.
And then we could glass for elk and see, you know, pretty large expanses.
And then we're pretty much every place that we could see, we knew how to get into it.
So if we'd spot elk, we'd get up there and then we'd take a, you know, you do an assessment on how many elk are different spots.
and then get ready for the opener, how we're going to do that.
So anyway, we're up on this point, a couple of days before it's scouting,
we're up there and we're glassing.
And I'm looking of anywhere from a mile and a half to two miles away.
And we're spot and elk.
And all of a sudden, about, it was about from where we were at,
it was probably about three quarters of a mile.
There's a, there's a canyon that goes down into a really steep creek.
It's got a lot of rock down in there.
There's a lot of rock formation.
Something came out of that crick, and it was like it was calling.
And I've tried to find a sound that somebody is recorded, you know, that they felt like it was a Sasquatch.
And I haven't exactly heard it.
But to me, it sounded like this thing was calling.
And what was really impressive about it was it moved from the bottom of the canyon
to the top of this ridge.
Well, we're just still, and I'm not even focusing in on this sound.
It just started calling.
And so I said to my buddy, I said, man, what's that?
And he's like, I don't know.
He goes, is that a bear or something?
I go, nah, I ain't no bear.
It actually what it sounded like, it sounded like a,
I've actually like a like a milk cow,
like a cow a lot of times when they're heading to the barn,
they'll call and they got kind of a distinct call,
but it kind of sounded like that.
But this thing was the way it was calling,
it was almost like it was looking for somebody,
it's looking for another,
whatever it was,
it was like either,
it was kind of like Bell,
But once it got to the top of the ridge, it shut up, and then it didn't do it anymore.
But what got me was how fast it moved from the bottom to the top of the ridge.
And it was just a creepy continual like a howl.
Just, and it went from the bottom of that canyon to the top of the ridge.
And I've hunted in there, and I killed an elk in there a couple years before that.
And it's a deep canyon.
And I mean, for a man to go from where that sound was coming to the top of the ridge,
it would have took a guy probably an hour, hour and a half to get out of there.
This thing went from the bottom to the top.
Literally, I could tell where the sound was at because I spent a lot of time in there.
It probably only took like maybe five to ten minutes,
and it went from the bottom all the way to the top.
So it had to been just moving fast as it was calling.
and then once it got to the top of the ridge,
it didn't make any more sound.
So I did find where there was an encounter,
not too far from more of this sound was coming from.
It literally was about a mile away.
A couple of people said that they were hiking back up in there off this one mountain.
and it's pretty popular.
There was a lot of people, and this road they were on,
I know I haven't been in on it,
but I know exactly which road they were talking about.
It's gated off.
They said they had a rock throwing incident.
Something followed them and kept throwing rocks, you know,
and literally as the crow flies from where that was to where the sound was,
it was literally like a mile and a half.
And then I also found where there was a siding,
just a little bit further south in that rock throwing incident.
There was one-sided down around the HALM.
It was just seen kind of out in this clear cut.
And not really realistically from where that was to where this other one was.
You know, you're just talking, you know, a couple miles or so.
And all that ground back up in there, miles and miles up in there,
it's all gated off.
I mean, when they're logging in there, you know, that's the only thing that's going on.
You know, they let people in during hunting season, rest of year.
It's just gated off.
Even though there's a lot of people around not too far from Highway 101, it's literally really pretty remote up in there.
And, but whatever that sound was, it wasn't no elk.
It wasn't no bear.
You know, I don't really know what it was, but speculation on the, as last,
as it was and is moving as fast it was, you know, it's, I don't know.
Yeah, it's kind of one of those moments of what in the world was that.
And, you know, out here in the Pacific Northwest, I know where you're at in Oregon.
We have black bears and we have cougars and that's about it.
And there's a lot of people that come forward, you know, off the air and say,
hey, especially hunters, hey, I was out there and I heard this and where do you pinpoint it?
What was it?
And in your case, you haven't actually seen the creature,
but you had an incident with the lights out there.
We talk about the lights on the show all the time.
Tell me about this incident with the lights.
Yeah, so this just happened to me three weeks ago.
And before I tell you that, I got one more encounter that I think kind of ties into this.
So it's just a couple of miles from my house.
There's a clear cut that I hunt in the fall for deer.
It's close to the house so I can get off quickly from work, go up there.
I can even hunt it in the morning early before work or even on weekends.
I got really good access.
And so this place I know it very well.
And I've hunted it for deer out.
I've got a bear out of there.
I've been hunted roughly for 20 years.
So I know it very, very well.
There's a few houses up there.
They're kind of spread out.
There was a new one that was built up in that area about three years ago.
They literally built it out in this clear cut.
Now the timber's kind of grown around it.
But anyway, it's one road in, one road out.
I mean, there's only one road going into this place.
It goes up to this clear cut, and it's only about a mile in.
and typically the way I would hunt it I would I would walk in
hunt my way in take my time and there was a couple of places where I'd kind of
still hunt set and then I'd work my way out well a couple of years ago I was
hunting in there for deer and as it gets later into the season the deer starts to
get become more vulnerable and then that's when you got a good chance of getting a
real nice one. I was going into that time period and I was starting to see bucks and they seemed like
they were really, they seemed like they were really spooked all the time. Like I couldn't get a shot at this
one. I couldn't get a shot at that one. I couldn't get a shot at this one. I was getting really
frustrated and it was like they would come out in the clear cut. They'd feed for a little bit and then
they'd just like book it right back to the reprod and get out of the clear cut. Wouldn't spend a whole lot
of time in there. In fact, I had one come running past me so fast. I couldn't get a shot at. It was
really nice one. And I remember it was just kind of a weird characteristic. I mean, usually when
they go into the rut, they'll come out. They start looking for those. Even though they're getting
kind of stupid, they still become pretty vulnerable. But these things were like, they were like keyed up.
And I seemed like three different bucks. They all acted the same way. So way I would,
hunt this, I would go in, I'd come back at, well, I was hunting it in the evening this one night.
And I have this stump not too far from where I'd park at. So I'd hunt in and then I'd walk
all the way out. The last place I'd stop right before dark, I'd stop at this stump. And I'd just
kind of hold up there and I could put my gun, rest my gun across the top of the stump and I'd
get my binoes out and I'd start glass and just, and you can hunt right up until half hour after
sun down so I would push it you know every I'd make sure I was there until dark every night and
so anyway I come out the one night and I get I get down to the stump and I set the gun there
and I'm watching and then all of a sudden I heard this cough and it it sounded just like a man coughing
And I was like, it was coming from where I'd just been coming down the road.
It was like maybe within 50, 75 yards away from me, but it's starting to get dark, but I can still see it.
So I pull my binoes on them, looking, looking, and then I start hearing this talking.
And it was like, you know, it was like, you know, it was just like jumbling, like, it was like maybe two or three people talking, but you couldn't really.
totally understand it. I mean, he couldn't, I couldn't understand it. And they were talking.
And I'm like, what is going on? So now I'm getting kind of aggravated. So I sat there and I was like,
I'm going to wait till they come out and I'm going to tell them, say, hey, you know, when somebody's
up in there, you guys better be careful walking up in there. You're able to get shot or, or, you know,
I mean, so I didn't really know what was going on with that. I just, so I, I just sat there,
my stuff and I waited and they moved away from me and I'm like they're going in they're not coming
out and the timing was almost like it was almost like they waited for me to come by and then they
stepped out into the road and they headed into where I came from and this was like right when everything
is getting super dark there was no lights and now I got my binoes out and I got some really good
binoculars.
And I'm like looking up that road, I'm trying to see movement, I'm trying to see a flashlight,
nothing.
Now all of a sudden, I'm like, okay, that's weird.
So now leading up to what I just seen here three weeks ago, I got a couple of dogs and
usually in the evenings they want to go for a walk or go for a ride.
So they were bugging me the one night looking at me like, well, what are we going to do?
So let's go for a ride.
So I took them out and got them in the rig, and we decided to drive up the road.
And I usually throw my binoes in.
So I have something if I see an elk or a deer or something, you know, I'm going to look at them.
And I drove back in, just past the house back up in there where I deer hunt and right where this last incident I was telling you about.
drove past that, drove up, up into the woods up there, maybe five, six miles.
It was starting to get pretty dark.
And so I let them out and they kind of play around a little bit and peed them.
And then they got back in and so we were going to head home.
And it's just, it's starting to get dark.
And so I'm heading back to the house.
And I'm almost to that gate where I was just told you about the last incident.
And I can look up through the trees.
I'm on the road and I'm driving.
I'm driving down the road and I see,
I look up in the trees and I see this red dot.
Well, it looked like a taillight because it was exactly the same color as a taillight.
And I was like, that's weird.
There ain't no road up there.
And so I just stopped, threw up the binos,
and I'm looking at this thing, and it's this, it's an orb.
And it's descending into the tailors.
timber and it's it's about a mile away. I know exactly the ridge it was on and it just slowly it was
coming down out of the sky and it was dropping down into the tops of the timber in between the trees.
It wasn't above the trees up in the air above it. It was going into the timber. And so I hopped out of
my rig and I grabbed my phone and I'm trying to, I'm swiping it, trying to get my camera up to where I can
get a picture of this thing.
And I fumbling around and I couldn't get it up and I never got a picture on it.
And it just descended into the timber and I was like, what was that?
You know?
And so I went home and I told my wife, she's, she's, I told my neighbor about it, but I
haven't told anybody else.
But the thing was perfectly round.
It was big.
It wasn't, it wasn't a small word.
It was a big warp.
And the way the tops of those trees are, that's full-sized timber.
I mean, typically those trees are planted anywhere from 8 to 10 feet on center.
And it was a couple of different tops between a couple of different trees.
The thing had to have been 20 feet across, maybe 30.
And it was the same color as the tail light.
It was red.
Perfectly round ball.
there was no opaque in it at all.
It was all the same color,
and it just slowly descended into the timber.
So I was really jacked up after that happened,
and I went home to my wife,
and it was really strange.
It was, I guess, like an adrenaline dump or whatever,
but I was really wound up for the next couple of days on it.
I did go online to try to find red orbs, you know, some things that would similar to that.
And I did find one online.
I downloaded it on my phone that I could send to you later to kind of show you what I was looking at.
But yeah, it was big.
But I guess the thing that is that to me is that sound of that samurai chatter,
And when I heard going back up in there, you know, and then now seeing that all in the same, basically the same neighborhood, that's really what kind of got me.
I don't even know what to say, dude.
I don't even know what to say.
I mean, I've been looking ever since we had the whole drone thing going on the East Coast.
I mean, I've been looking for stuff out here.
I got pictures of these things that I've seen in the sky,
but then they're like a rotating.
They look round, and then they kind of change colors and stuff.
But later I found that those were like Starlink.
But this is what I've seen, this red.
This wasn't no, this was nothing attached to any kind of a drone.
It wasn't attached to anything.
It was just really weird.
Yeah, I just had a guy from your area.
another hunter.
He was describing the samurai chatter.
He said it reminded him of a kung fu movie.
He didn't see the creatures,
but he kept hearing this weird language,
this weird chatter.
And it was three of them.
And again,
it's right in your area.
I might have missed it there in the beginning.
I know you described the orb as being big,
but how big was it?
It had to been at least 20 to 30 feet across.
Yeah, that's huge.
That's bigger than,
I had a state trooper.
I was telling you this before we started recording, Ryan,
that he almost hit one coming across the road.
And he was describing it to me.
And I was like, well, how big was it?
And he was like about the size of a Volkswagen.
He had to swerve to actually miss it.
What's your take on that light that you saw?
What do you think it was?
I have no idea.
I've listened to the Sasquatch stories now for the last couple of years.
and I've heard about, you know,
people talking about the orbs
and some of the, that kind of stuff,
you know, and I never really bought into it.
Well, I hadn't really thought about it much, I guess.
You know, I don't know.
I really don't know.
I feel like, you know, there's a lot of,
there's a lot of mysteries in this world that we live in.
I think a lot of people are looking for answers.
you know myself i'm a christian it's not really a faith thing with me um but i do have questions it's
like you know i want to know i i'd love to know the mysteries of the the whole universe i like
everybody a lot of people would a lot of people don't care um but i really don't know wes i can just
tell you what i think it was it was not from this world when i seen that thing go into the timber
was getting kind of tired.
And I was like, you know,
and I'll just, a couple of years ago,
three, four years ago,
I would have just went home,
got my fanny pack,
threw some stuff in it,
grabbed probably one of my dogs,
flashlights and some snacks,
maybe some coffee.
And I'd have went up there
and sat in that clear cut
and waited for it to come out of there.
But I was just kind of like,
nah,
I'm going home.
I just kind of like,
I seen what I seen.
I seen it with my own eyes.
Like I said,
It was a perfect red orb, and it was big.
Definitely not of this world.
Yeah, seeing an orb is crazy enough when he see that ball of light,
but when you see one as big as what you saw and the fact that it's right there,
right by that ravines like right next to your home,
it's a little unnerving.
What's your take on Sasquatch?
What do you think it is?
Well, now I'll tell you some of the things that are really in trouble.
me about these things is when people say they drop down on fours and run,
that seems like, you know,
a characteristic that you would see with a,
you know,
a mountain gorilla,
a chimpanzee.
It just,
and in the articulated,
or the mid-tarsal break on their feet,
you know,
they're able to do stuff with their feet,
like they can probably climb and grip and stuff like that.
You know,
I've been leaning towards,
you know,
they're a type of primate.
I don't really, the Nephilim thing,
I don't really think that's it.
I think the Nephilim were more evolved.
They were more,
if they were indeed, you know,
fallen angels,
you know, breeding with humans.
I mean, you're talking,
they're going to be more lines of Goliath in the Bible.
Some of these other type giants.
I mean,
they're not going to be like a big,
big ape,
these things are. I mean, I, I personally, I just, I've always felt like they're just, you know,
they're another primate, but they're, you know, they're a North American primate. I just think,
you know, and the thing is like the mountain gorilla was only discovered like 100 years ago. I mean,
that's not really long. And these things, you know, they, it's, this is their environment.
They're the ones in charge of it. They don't need us. You know, they don't need to show up down at the
the fast food lane or go to the grocery store.
They got everything they need to survive out there.
I was always intrigued by that story of the fella up in BC,
one of the first ones that came out where he got snatched up in his sleeping bag.
And the squatch took him back to his family.
And, you know, they had him for three or four days.
And he fed him some Copenhagen or some chew.
And then he made him sick and got away.
The one thing about that story that, you know, some, I mean, this is, this is the highlights that hit me with that.
The one thing about that was is that Sasquatch carried him for like three or four miles, three or four hours.
Now, that man said that he thought that they probably traversed about 20 or 30 miles.
So these animals could do miles in a night.
You know, they might have a feeding area that they decide to take off and go to.
and 20 to 30 miles for them is nothing.
You know, they're all powerfully built and all that.
But you know what?
If you were walking up and down these hills every day in and day out,
like some of these logger guys I've grown up with,
I mean, you get an incredible shape.
And if you're out there living in this stuff
and hunting like they do and foraging,
I mean, they're going to be muscular.
But anyway, yeah, I think they're more of a primate.
That's my opinion.
I don't know.
The whole orb thing, it just to that, I don't know what that is.
That's something from another world.
And, you know, they were planted here by some other beings.
It's like, now you're getting a little weird, but then again, is it?
I mean, some of the people are seeing these orbs all the time.
Yeah, it really makes you wonder about the lights.
I mean, I've wondered about them for years.
I think more and more people are seeing them.
Are they related to Sasquatch?
I don't know.
they sure seem to show up a lot when Sasquatch is around, which is kind of weird.
And, you know, with the old Albert Outsman, the guy you were talking about being kidnapped,
I actually kind of believe Albert.
He says a lot of really little things that he wouldn't have known if you really pay attention
to some of the details he says.
He says a lot of little things that I don't think he would have known unless something happened.
But it's a fascinating account.
you talked about the 30 mile radius thing that Albert assumed he traveled. I think guerrillas,
their territories are like 16 miles or I know it's under 20 miles, but they also share a large
territory. And I know your feelings about it being kind of a non-human primate. And like I always say,
man, you could be right. That's really what I want it to be. And it's the thing that makes the most
sense. So I definitely understand the way you feel about it. And I really appreciate you taking the
time to come on. Yeah. Thanks again, Ryan. And that's it for tonight. Everyone, remember if you've
had an encounter, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com. You get a chance
