Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:1229 The Playground At Night
Episode Date: February 9, 2026Brayden who is from Washington State writes "I recently moved to a new property with my girlfriend to help care for my grandfather as he gets older, and I've started noticing some strange activity aro...und the property. I'm mainly looking for insight into what this could be. It began with an odd sixth sense feeling like I was being watched. I work a swing shift, so I get home late, and I'd often feel uneasy when pulling into the driveway. At first, I brushed it off as nerves from being in a new place. Then the noises started. The first incident happened while I was at work. My girlfriend called me, shaken, saying that something was walking outside the house and breathing heavily. I told her it was probably a buck looking for a doe since it was mating season, which seemed reasonable at the time. Not long after, one weekend night, we were both woken up by chattering sounds coming from two different directions. We just lay there frozen in bed, listening. Another incident involved tapping on the side of the house, which I was able to record." Curtis writes "My twin brother and I had an intense encounter with a group of three Sasquatches back in the summer of 1983." After speaking with the eyewitness, he explained that in 1983, he and five other kids were playing in the woods, pretending to be in a war game. He recalled that three large creatures emerged from behind the school, stepping out from the tree line. The creatures walked right past him, his twin brother, and their friends. At first, he mistook the creatures for his brother and friends, but upon a closer look, It wasn't his brother. He said they weren't as big as he had initially imagined they were nothing like the giant figures typically described or even like Patty."

It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind
and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up
and that shocked me.
They don't make people that that big.
The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach.
I've never seen anything moves like that in my life.
They were screaming at each other in gibberish.
It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards.
I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw were bears.
What are you reporting?
Get somebody out here.
What's going on now, sir?
That's son of a bitch is about six foot.
About six foot nine, I don't know.
Do you see a male, sir?
Yes, I'm looking right in it.
This is Nankha from Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada.
You're listening to, in my opinion, the best place to share your encounter stories, Sasquatch Chronicles.
Welcome to the show.
Tonight we'll be speaking with Braden.
And Braden comes to us from Washington State.
He's actually just north of me.
And I know the area well.
It's notorious for sightings.
I've had many eyewitnesses on over the year.
from this area and he moved into this home kind of help his grandfather out his grandfather's getting
older in years and he's there just trying to help him out and brighton told me he goes you know when
i very first moved in a lot of really weird things started happening around this property and i'm not
really a big believer in bigfoot but i'm not really sure what's going on here so i asked him to
come on the show and kind of share what's been happening at that
that property. We're also going to be chatting with Curtis. And about 40 years ago, he's in
Northern California. He's playing hide and go seek with his brother and his friends. Three other
individuals showed up while they were playing this game. But they weren't kids and they weren't
human and I'll kind of let Curtis go into it. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be
on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at 7.com.

Let's jump into it tonight.
I want to welcome Braden to the show.
Braden, thanks for coming on.
Hey, no problem.
Appreciate you having me.
Yeah, and you moved into this property.
It was your grandfather's,
or still is your grandfather's property.
If you would, would you start from the very beginning?
what were some of the things that you noticed right off the bat?
And what's been happening since you've been there?
So my grandpa has his property.
He's probably lived here about 30 years, something like that.
He had some renters because it's just him.
He had some renters who were helping him out financially.
He doesn't get a lot.
So when they moved out, he kind of needed someone to move in
and help take care of the place and him.
So I took the opportunity and me and my girlfriend moved in.
and started helping them out with rent and stuff.
I started getting, I got this feeling,
because I work night shift, I work swing shifts,
so I get home at 2 o'clock in the morning every morning.
And at first I kind of just chalked it up to it.
Oh, it's a new environment.
You know, I'm uncomfortable because it's, you know, dark and super quiet.
And it, like, this kept growing and growing.
This is feeling of, like, someone just staring down my back.
It would be whenever I pull in the driveway.
So I'd like pull down the driveway.
And the way that I park, I have like this transformer, like an in-ground transformer about 30 feet away.
And then I pull down this little driveway.
It's like adjacent to the house.
And then I stare towards this big open field in the field, a little bit past it.
There's some trees.
And then to my left, there's some trees.
So it's just, you know, kind of just like a field surrounded by trees.
I just would, you know, sit in my truck and I'd look at my windshield in my window
and just feel like there's something watching me.
I actually just started talking to my girlfriend about it.
And she's like, yeah, I was getting that feeling too.
Because she leaves really early in the morning.
She's like, I don't really like getting in my car in the morning because I told her,
I was like, oh, you should let your car warm up because she's not really a car person.
She used to just hop in it and go.
And I was like, well, you should probably let it warm up a little bit.
She's like, I don't like sitting here.
it got to the point where I was so uncomfortable
that I would actually call my girlfriend and wake her up
at 2 o'clock in the morning
so she would come outside
because I didn't want to get out of my truck anymore
and that I'm the type of person who, you know,
I climb in machinery all day and that's active
and, you know, I hunt all the time
and I'm a bushwhacker so, you know,
I just walk through the bush, never have a problem with it
but I've never had a feeling like this
ever. It's just like something staring into your soul. I actually went out and bought a rifle
and kept it in my truck and that, you know, kind of made me feel better a little bit. Then one night,
me and my girlfriend were laying in bed and it was after I got home. So I just got off work,
laid down for a little bit and not even a half hour later. I kind of was just laying and
staring at the ceiling, I guess, trying to fall asleep. And,
it sounded like something was shuffling outside and my girlfriend is passed out at this point
and I kind of like nudged her awake. I was like, do you hear that? And she's like what? And then
listened. And then we could hear this like murmuring. She's like, is that someone talking? And I'm
like, why would someone be out here at, you know, 2.30 in the morning at this point outside our,
you know, house whispering. And it kept getting closer and closer to like our bedroom area. And the way
our room is, is there's a window on either side of it.
So you can be on either side, but we always have the curtains drawn.
So I'm sitting there and I'm listening and it's on my right.
And then I hear it on my left.
I'm kind of sitting there.
I'm like, what the heck?
How is it on both sides?
And then I thought about it, you know, kind of half awake at this point.
Is there two of these things out there?
You know what I mean?
Like, what is this?
In my head, I'm thinking, okay, there's two people.
on our property at 2 o'clock in the morning.
But we have the ring cameras that detect movement.
And if you come down the driveways, it's going to see you.
And there's only one blind spot, and that's too, like,
we have a pond on our property, and it's towards the pond.
And then past the pond is like a little bit of a field,
probably 100 yards wide, and then Warehouser.
I don't know if everyone knows what Warehouser is,
but it's like thousands of acres of just timberland.
And that's like the only side that doesn't have a camera on it.
And out of respect for you and your grandfather,
I won't say what town you guys are in,
but as you're going down I-5, if you blink, you'll miss it.
And so I don't see anyone coming up to your guys' window at night.
What was it you guys were hearing?
Was it people moving around and mumbling?
Yeah, it was like people were walking around.
and it sounded like someone mumbling.
It's like, I don't even really know how to describe it.
It was like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Like that, like, it was like a deep tone, but it was quiet.
That's why we were thinking it was a person.
And I was like, I don't really know any animal that would make a noise like that.
It's like it was investigating what was going on.
Because, I mean, we're new, I guess.
We're new people.
And this is within, I don't know, probably three weeks of us moving in.
which was still summer at this point.
It was just creepy.
I didn't really want to move because I didn't know what it was.
I had my rifle at this point, but it was in the living room,
and I didn't want to get up and go get it.
So I started sleeping with the rifle in my room.
I'll just put it like that.
And then probably a week after that,
I still got that feeling coming in the door,
like something's breathing down your neck.
And it's only when you're sitting in the truck,
the sitting there, it feels like something's staring at you.
You get out and you feel fine until you turn your back to open that door.
And then you turn your back to open that door and it's like it's something's sprinting at
you.
It's like a wall, I suppose.
And it's just the creepiest feeling.
But the feeling just persisted for a little bit and then I'll have to send you this recording.
But one day I was laying in a bed and I heard something walking around again.
and my girlfriend was just passed out at this point.
I tried to wake her up.
She was just not having it.
So I was like, okay, whatever.
So I put my phone on record.
I set it down on the end table,
and I just kind of laid there,
trying to be as quiet as I could.
And I actually caught something,
tap, tap, tap on the walls.
It was, yeah, it was terrifying.
I was like, what the heck?
Because I was like, okay, animal,
maybe walking around it there.
But then it tapped,
and then about four minutes.
minutes later, it tapped again. And it was this tap, tap, tap, tap, but the tapping moved. So I knew it
it wasn't something in the house. It's like it just tapped the wall on the outside. It's like,
well, you can't hear that, but it's just like a tapping. And at first I was like, okay, maybe it was
me. And then I was like, no, that was definitely outside on the recording. And I showed it to my
co-workers and like, it's pretty quiet on the recording. So we all got in my truck and like turned up
the stereo and just listen to it.
And they're like, that is creepy, man.
And I'm like, I know.
Because I had kind of been telling them about it at this point.
They're the ones that encourage me to get like a rifle.
Because they were like, oh, it might be like a cougar or something, stalking me.
And I was like, okay, it makes sense.
I come home at the same time every day.
You know, I'm all by myself.
And then, you know, I started putting two and two together because I started watching
your podcast.
And I was like, when I get home, it is really.
really quiet. Like I mentioned the transformer box earlier. It's about 50 feet away and I can hear
that humming when I get out of my truck. Like it is dead silent. And I don't remember if I told
you or not. You don't have to put this in if you don't want to, but I don't remember if I told you
or not about my girlfriend calling me about the coyotes. I was at work one night and my girlfriend
called me because we have coyotes in the area. There's also like a wolf sanctuary type thing.
So it's not unusual to hear like coyotes howling and stuff, but she called me one night, kind of freaked out.
Because I was taking my rifle with me to work at this point because I like keeping it in my truck for when I got out at night.
And she called me and she's like, hey, it sounds like these coyotes are killing something.
And I was like, okay, it's probably just another animal or something.
She's like, no, it sounds like a dying bird or dog.
It's like something like yiping and howling.
And she's like, I don't know what it is.
And I was like, okay, well, it's probably going to be over in like two minutes.
Because if it's a pack of coyotes, I mean, it's going to kill something pretty quick.
So I was like, okay, it's probably going to be over pretty quick.
And then she's like, no, it's been going on for like 10 minutes.
And I was like, what?
I was like, that's a pretty long time for a pack.
Because it's a pretty big pack out here.
I've been kind of looking into it because I want to start hunting.
them because the neighbors down the road, they're getting their calves and stuff, are getting
killed by them.
So like I said, pretty big herd or pack, I guess.
So I was like, well, I don't know what it is.
I guess I'll try to check it out when I get home.
And she said it went on for like another couple minutes after that and then it just stopped.
But she said it was the most unusual sound of something getting killed that she's ever heard
in her life.
She's like, it just sounded like they were tearing something up.
After that, she started making me leave my rifle at home because she didn't feel comfortable.
And then the reason I emailed you was the night that I emailed you,
I was sitting in my truck and, you know, I was getting that feeling again
because it kind of went away for a little bit because we started having,
the freezing started, so it started getting in the 20s and 30s.
The feeling just kind of went away.
And I was like, okay, well, maybe I'm just used to see you still living here.
Maybe it was an animal.
you know, kind of just doubting myself.
And, you know, telling my coworkers at work,
they're kind of making fun of me.
You know how that goes.
You know, oh, yeah, you got a cryptid on your land.
And, you know, it's going to get you.
You know, just how it goes.
And I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I was like, and then it went away.
So I was like, okay, maybe I'm in my head.
Well, recently my girlfriend actually came to me with us.
She's like, you're starting to get that feeling in, aren't you?
And I was like, a little bit, yeah,
because it started warming up.
again, because now it's probably in the 40s and 50s and 60s.
And she's like, yeah, me too.
And I was like, oh, okay, maybe we're just becoming paranoid again.
And the night that I emailed you, I was sitting in my truck, I just got home.
I kind of got that feeling like someone's watching me.
And I was just kind of scanning the tree line, starting from my driver's side window out to my windshield.
At first I didn't see anything, so I kind of looked down and started grabbing my lunch pail and stuff.
and I caught something out of the corner of my eye.
And I kind of glanced up.
And then I saw two eyes staring at me up in a tree on the other side of this field.
And I was like, what the heck?
I was like, okay, raccoon.
And I'm like, well, those are pretty far apart for a raccoon.
And I don't remember raccoons having red eyes.
And I grew up on a farm as well.
So I always hunted raccoons because they would kill my ducks and chickens.
So I was like pretty familiar with them.
And I mean, I think they can have red eyes, I think, in some cases.
But I was like, that's too high up and too far spread apart.
Like the eyes were just farther apart.
And I was like, this got this feeling like I don't even, I don't know how to describe it.
Just like I just needed to get inside that second.
And it was just the feeling of I need to protect my girlfriend because I knew that she was sleeping.
And I wanted to leave, but she leaves the door unlocked for me so I can come in at night because we didn't get a set of keys from them.
My grandpa lost him a long time ago.
And we live so far out here, I don't really worry about it.
Well, she leaves the door unlocked.
And I was just like, no, I got to get out and go inside.
So I got out and I walked over to the door, just my eyes locked on it.
And the way the door is, you have to turn to reach up, to open the door and then climb up the stairs.
So I reach up and I turned my body away and I opened the door.
And it felt like something was sprinting at me.
Like it was a fight or flight at that point.
It was terrifying.
Did you get your rifle and go back out to investigate those eyes?
No, I don't want to go over there.
I'm good.
How far away from you were these red eyes that you were seeing?
Maybe 100 yards.
Yeah, I just don't see a raccoon like striking the fear in you as you're getting out of your truck.
You know, red eye shine, I would imagine as possible with raccoons.
You would almost have to have the right lighting conditions to get kind of that red eye shine.
And you know that you're an experienced guy.
up on a farm. Most of time, raccoons, their eyes are going to be kind of an orange, amber color,
or white. I don't know that I've ever seen red eyes from a raccoon. But again, I would imagine
it's possible, you know, if you had the right lighting conditions. How big were these eyes that
you were looking at? Um, the thing is, at this point, my truck had been shut off. So my headlights
were off. And thinking back to it now, it is kind of weird because the only light around me
was the shop, which is way behind me, probably another hundred yards behind me. And it's just a little
shoplight that lights up the door. You know I'm talking about like a porch light. But for me to be
able to see these eyes, I never saw a figure or anything because it was one of those new moon nights
Or, well, it was dark out.
I know it was really dark.
It might have been like a half moon.
I'm not 100% sure.
But it was, I could kind of see the ground out there.
And then I just saw these two eyes.
I don't know where they would have got the light from to shine.
Maybe the moon.
I'm not 100% sure.
But I don't know.
It was definitely high enough up where I knew it wasn't like a deer or something
because I know how the tree sits right there.
And yeah, for it to be kind of level with my head, with me sitting in there,
because I have a three-inch lift on my F-350 on 34s.
So, I mean, for it to be sitting level with me, kind of spooked me out.
That is unnerving.
So it's not like these eyes were like 50 feet up in the tree.
I mean, it's pretty level with you, but still pretty high up with that truck you have.
How big were those eyes?
They seemed decent-sized, honestly.
Like, they didn't seem like little tiny cat or raccoon eyes.
They seemed bigger like a predator.
Because you'll notice with, like, big cats and bears,
they usually have bigger eyes to let more light in so they can see at night.
And they seem bigger like that.
That's the only time I've seen them.
My girlfriend told me that she has had a spook where she saw some red eyes out there.
And I wasn't home at the time because she got off work because it's certain, she gets home about 6.30.
So it's still dark out when she gets home with this time of year.
And she's like, oh, I saw some red eyes.
And I was like, oh, yeah, it's probably like, you know, a cougars.
Well, the cougars usually have yellow eyes.
but I was like, it's probably just, you know, something else.
You know, don't be worried about it.
You're fine raccoon or a coyote or something.
But she's like, I don't think so.
I don't know.
I should have believed her, I guess.
Yeah, you definitely should have.
You know where I would start is with your grandfather.
Have you ever sat down to talk with him about what's been going on around this property?
Honestly, I haven't. He's kind of a really quiet and reserved guy, but I've been talking to my girlfriend about it because I've been talking, I've been kind of hesitant to email you. I don't know why. But I was like, hey, I want to email this guy because I think this is going on. And she's like, thinking about it, there's no cameras on that side of the house. And I was like, yeah, she's like, that's where all the apple trees are, because we have apple trees. And we also grow grapes. But they're all on that side of the house without cameras.
And she's like, and she's like, have you ever seen your grandpa outside at night?
And I'm like, well, thinking back to it a couple years ago, me and him were digging a pond on his property with tractors.
And we had gotten this tractor kind of stuck in the mud because it's all clay out here.
And I was like, okay, hey, let's go grab the truck and pull it out real quick.
You know, we're already all muddy and stuff.
And it was just starting to get dark.
And he's like, nope, let's go inside.
and I was like, well, it could sink deeper overnight.
He's like, oh, it's fine.
So it was just odd to me that he just wanted to go inside so quick.
And he always carries a pistol on him.
And it's always, he always carries a 45 on him on his property, no matter what.
Yeah, it's just weird to me.
Yeah, I would probably start there first with your grandfather.
Go get a bottle of whiskey, sit down with them and have a real conversation.
and he'll probably open up and tell you about some of the things that have happened around there.
Everything you're describing around this property sounds like they're there.
You know, that feeling of dread, that feeling of being watched,
these weird red eyes that you're seeing,
things are tapping on your home.
You know, one thing that I think is weird with Sasquatch,
and you'll often hear this with eyewitnesses who have these things on their property.
they'll often say, you know, I'm laying in bed and on the wall on the outside, something starts tapping, something starts scratching, slaps against a home.
People will report this mumbling that they hear.
To me, it sounds like they're there.
One thing I want to ask you about that mumbling, did it sound like the Sierra sounds?
Um, kind of. But imagine that, but like super quiet. Almost a really faint whisper. Just enough where you can hear it. But if you were like, I don't know, had a TV on or something, you would, you would never know.
Yeah, like I said, I would start with your grandfather first. And, you know, one thing that you can do, if you want to get them to back off, go by,
cheap lights. And you can get cheap ones off Amazon. You know, I know when you're living out there
in the country, that's the last thing you want to do is really light up your property like a football
stadium. But for whatever reason, eyewitnesses report that when you light a place up like that,
it gets them to back off. And it might help you. You know, when you're trying to go out to your
truck or coming in or making your girlfriend feel more comfortable, I think they'll back off. 95%
on time. They'll back off when you light the place up. A secondary option you can do is go buy
game cams and put them around the property. And the cheaper, the better. I mean, go to Amazon
buy like a four-pack. The cheaper, the better. I highly doubt you'll capture anything,
but they, you know, coordinated eyewitnesses, they back off once you start putting those up.
But your grandfather must know something. I mean, there's no way he lived there all those years.
and doesn't know what's going on.
I would definitely start with him.
Right.
And what's weird to me is since my grandma died,
probably five years ago,
he has, like, closed off most of the house.
And he lives in, like, these three rooms,
and he actually doesn't have windows in them.
Like, you will not go in parts of the house at night
with windows in it.
Because you have, like, the kitchen has windows,
and he has that, like, doored off.
And then he has like this little man cave room, which had windows.
But he put stuff, there's like a wraparound porch.
He put stuff against the windows.
And then his bedroom is blocked off too.
Like he put shutters on it, which I remember when I was younger,
those windows are always open.
You know, even when people won't tell you anything,
you can always look at their behavior.
And it says more than they'll ever say,
one of the very first properties I ever investigated.
I remember I walked into this old lady's home
and she had blankets over,
I mean really thick blankets over every window.
And I thought, hmm, okay, well, let's have a conversation.
How long have you guys been there, Braden?
Eight months now.
Like, it's not been that long.
That's why at first I was like,
oh, maybe it's just something curious about us
because there's new scent in the area.
but it's to the point where I'm not really feeling that anymore.
Yeah, well, the bad news is I think that they're there.
The good news is you can make them go away.
And I don't have any love for Sasquatch.
So if people want to shoot them, I'm all for it.
The only time I tell people not to shoot at them is when it's actually on their property.
You know, you can be a big foe researcher.
go off to your research location and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and shoot all you want.
But you get to go home.
But when you do that on your property, homes about 100 yards away.
And they know you're there.
They watch you shoot at them.
And things can go south pretty quick.
But I would really recommend that you put up some lights that you, I mean, I would light
that place up.
And I can't guarantee.
I would put a lot of money on the bet that they'll back off.
The red eyeshine, was that the last thing that happened there?
Yeah, and that was Monday.
So that was the last thing that happened for now.
I'm just, I just know that I've been listening to your podcast a little bit now,
and I know what usually happens next.
And that's what I fear the most, I suppose.
You're talking about a sighting, actually seeing the creature?
Yeah.
Yeah, it usually starts out this way. It starts out with the things that you're describing. And it's unnerving. And I would be unnerved in that situation. Usually when it starts this way, people think there are places haunted. The tapping on the walls, the scratching on the walls, the slaps on the home, this weird red eye shine that they're seeing, that feeling of being washed all the time. It usually,
usually does ramp up to a siding. The good news, though, I think if they were going to hurt you,
they would have done it a long, long time ago. Your easy pickings coming out from the home to your
truck, from your truck back to the home. There's plenty of opportunity to harm you if they really
wanted to. And they haven't yet. Prior to all this happening to you, what was kind of your take on
Bigfoot? When I was younger, you know, I believed in it.
So I was like, it's cool.
It might be real.
Like, I'm sure people are seeing something, but I don't know.
But now I'm pretty convinced.
I'm pretty convinced.
And I think I know why they go through our property.
Our property is like the only one where it's just like a field that's like completely surrounded by trees.
And then there's another set of like forest, I guess.
It's kind of like a bog because we live by a lake and it's like all trees to the lake.
So it's warehouser, our property, more trees, and then the lake.
So I have a feeling that whatever it is is trying to get to the lake at night and we're just kind of the pass through.
Yeah, it could be.
It could be that they're passing through and stopping when you guys are.
coming and going and
I honestly would try the lights
I would light the place up. You have to
let me know if you do that. Let me know
if it works for you or not.
I got a good feeling that
they will back off.
Let me ask you. I ask everyone
on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is?
What's your take?
I think it's flesh and blood. I think it's an animal
just like anything else.
Some of the stuff is
unexplained to me, but
I think
eventually we will figure it out
in my lifetime. I don't know.
Eventually, I'd imagine we
figure out what it is.
Because I mean, everything,
if you look at animals, has a different
subspecies. We're
humans, and then you have
like primates,
and then
I'm thinking there's another
step in there, if that makes sense.
Not necessarily the lost link
but like this is another side species.
They're like us, but they don't live in civilization.
They made their own way, if that makes sense.
Yeah, that does make sense.
That makes complete sense, Braden.
And, you know, when you're out there,
try some of the ideas I've thrown at you.
It's what I would do if it was my property.
I would start with the lights.
I would start with cheap,
game cams and if none of that works give me a call i have five other ideas to throw at you and you have
my cell phone give me a call anytime you ever have any questions i'm not sure i can answer them but i'll
give up my best try and be safe out there brother but thank you again for coming on yeah no problem
i appreciate you having me next up on the show i want to welcome curtis curtis thanks for coming on
Hey, thank you very for having me on your show.
Yeah, I really appreciate you being here.
And you had this encounter back in 1983 in Northern California.
If you would, would you start from the very beginning?
What were you doing and what happened?
Yeah, so I guess I started out that I have an identical twin brother.
We're actually involved with doing a playing like a hide-and-go-seek game, you know, slash war games.
I guess because there's like a team of three on each side.
There's just two teams.
So there were six of us all together.
So that's what we were doing.
We just decided to play because we didn't have anything back then in 83.
We didn't have any computer games or nothing like that.
So we kind of had to make up our own entertainment.
So we just came to why.
The town's called Wairika, California,
about 20 miles south of the Oregon border.
but that whole mountain range is
basically it's got
about three or four other
national forests
on that same mountain range
and that goes all the way
from the middle of the state
and it goes all the way
to the coast
where it goes to the Redwoods
and there's just little small
little villages and stuff
mixed into that whole mountain range
there's some Indian tribes
and stuff like that
but there's no
major towns at all
there's just little small
communities
we just came to the town.
My aunt happened to be living there
and we had never actually been in Wyrika
except for passing through and getting gas
and that's it.
We didn't know the town at all.
So we showed up, my aunt lived in an apartment complex
and just in a small community area
and the town was only,
I only had like 3,500 people at the time
and it's doubled since,
but the apartment complex that we were staying
and it was just maybe an eighth of a mile or even less, whatever,
maybe if five, 600 yards away or whatever you want to call it,
but where we were located right next to the edge of the forest.
Now, next door to where my aunt was living was an elementary school
from grades 1 through 6 or something like that.
And I only mentioned that school because that's where we actually had our encounter.
It was already at nighttime.
It was real hot during that summer.
It was a summer of 83.
The school, behind the school, is a playground, and it had some lights for a nighttime
if you're out through playing at night.
But on the very west side of the whole perimeter of the school is just a field of a,
there's a soccer field slash baseball field.
When we decided to play this game, we just met up with a couple of other brothers
that were just having to be in the neighborhood just a couple days prior to that.
and we've only been in town for about a week or week and a half anyways at this
particular time it was just that one night in the evening basically it was about seven or eight
at night when the two brothers came over to visit us and it was one of the two brothers that
actually suggested we played this game of war or hide-and-seek or whatever you want to call
it but so yeah so me and my brothers decided yeah okay let's just go for it I guess and then
we also recruited my younger sister and she had like a temporary boyfriend that just that she just
started just mess around with too but um so now when we started to play this game there's already
about eight it was probably eight eight 30 maybe at night the sun's already gone down but the
there's no wind or nothing it was just totally there's nothing but bright lights from the
stars so we had a lot of ambient lighting we got school lights also that was given us pretty good
lights. So the only rules we have in this game is we had to stay within the property of the school.
And we can also be on the other side of the fence. There's a big chain link fence on the western
perimeter of the school. And that's an eight to 10 foot chain link fence. That whole piece of
property is owned by the city of Wyrka. And it's all undeveloped. There's nothing but just
tall weeds and grass. There's some shrubbery around. There's a few few trees.
just small trees, some fallen small trees.
There's a lot of rolling hills, little rolling dirt mountains as well.
There's all pretty tall grass and weeds also.
So now my team's laying down by the baseball diamond.
And now my brother's laying, his team are laying down basically facing right where we were, you know,
just cat a corner from where we were at.
Now my brother and then, like I said, they were just in there for about five minutes,
just like we were there for about five minutes, just like we were before we noticed anything.
right out of the shadows of the
between the school and those
two
the two little storage sheds for the maintenance workers
came walking three figures
just came walking right out
and going right straight towards the
eight foot
chain link fence. Now for them to do that, they had to walk right in front
where my brother and his team were
laying down. So now my brother
and them, they can see these
softwatches. They're only like 50 to
70 feet at the most
maybe 60 feet or so, but they just walked right straight past,
or walking straight past my brother's team.
My brother and then they're, well, they're staring at him first,
but then they witnessed these creatures just walking right straight through the field,
probably a good 10 seconds or 15 seconds by the time they got to the chain link fence.
These creatures were about, I'd say, between 6-2 to 6'5 at the most.
when these bigfoot's got to the fence,
one of them was about two,
maybe a couple inches taller than the other two that were there.
The biggest one out of the three
just lifted up its hands
and just grabbed hold of the top of that fence.
And like I said, that was an eight to ten foot high chain link fence.
And he just grabbed a hold of the fence
and just jumped itself right over
without even put his feet on the chain link at all.
He just did it all one.
motion just jumped right over.
The other two Sasquatches, they just, um, they decided to walk around.
They walked all the way back down, down the fence line back towards the property line of the
apartment complex.
And they just, all they had to do is walk right around the fence because there's no,
there's just nothing about a post right there.
So there's, and now they're, all three of them are on the other, on that, um, that property
that's owned by the city.
So now that's my brother's side of the story.
Now back to where I was at.
was the same thing.
I was,
me and my team were right there.
My sister was on the left-hand side of me,
and then on the left side of her was her boyfriend.
So then all of a sudden my sister nudges me
and says that she sees the other team.
And this is the same,
these are the same three figures
that was walking from the corner of the side of the school.
By the time they were coming into the field,
we could see them,
but we couldn't see them as well as my brother
because I was at least a good hundred feet away from these creatures at the time.
So all I could see is these three shadows walking across the field going towards the chain link fence.
We didn't sit there and stare at it either.
We just knew, as far as we were concerned, that was my brother's team.
So we didn't have any kind of fear or nothing like that.
So we weren't staring at them or anything.
We knew exactly which way they were headed.
And then so now behind this, right there at the chain link fence, there's a little, there's a man gate.
They just crossed right over into that
under that piece of property.
So that's what we chose to do.
And as these creatures got to the fence,
I wasn't looking at them.
So I didn't even feel or hear the fence move whatsoever.
So at this time, I didn't know exactly what they were doing.
We were just walking.
We were just crawling through the fence to get the other side.
So now we were having like an element of surprise on our side.
Of course, it was the other team as far as we were concerned.
So now we're crawling down the fence line.
We get about 100 feet down, basically in the same area where we thought that that's where my brother's team was supposed to be at.
So we get about 100 feet down.
We decided just to sit down and rest.
So we had our backs turned resting on the chain link fence, and we're on the city property there.
Now we're looking towards the mountains.
Here we are just sitting there.
And we're just looking for the other team.
I'm doing my scanning.
So now when I'm coming back and just slightly to my right next to that, that shrubbery was a dirt mound that's a, like I said, it was full of grass and weeds.
But there's two figures that were sitting or squatting on this mound.
And I can see the top of their heads down to their shoulder because they were just above that shrubberies where I could still see.
I had some ambient lights.
I could tell that there's two figures there.
but they're about 20 feet away.
So I couldn't, you know, but at this time I thought that was my sister and her boyfriend.
So I wasn't even concerned there this whole time.
So now I'm going on for a couple minutes.
So now here is I'm scanning around.
Now I just happen to be looking, scanning down the field back towards the apartment complex area.
And then I've seen this bigger figure come running right straight around the other two that were already 20 feet away from.
He said this one was about another five to ten feet behind those two.
So I just thought it was another, I just thought it was another team,
the other team, just one person from the other team, I thought it was.
But this creature, or figure, we'll just call it a figure for now,
but this figure came running, and it was like about 30 feet away from me.
And it was running very quick.
And even before I get on my feet, because at this time I thought it was just another person
on the other team.
So even before I get on my feet,
this creature,
it was already,
it already stopped between 10 to 12 feet
from me as I was getting on my feet.
So I just can't figure,
well, how, you know,
in my mind,
I'm just not really worried about the time delay or whatever,
but the fact is I was already coming up on,
I was coming up on my feet,
and this creature had already stopped.
And when it stopped,
this is when I,
this is when everything got confusing to me,
because I knew that there's,
something wrong. I can see the, um, when it stopped, it was already, it was bent over a little bit
and it had a slight bend in its knees, so I couldn't judge exactly how tall it was.
Plus, there's like in a little groove right there in between like the, the, um, the dirt mounds
and stuff like that. There's some ditches and stuff. So I couldn't figure exactly how tall it was,
but at this time I wasn't, I didn't care about what, looking for the size. I was just thinking
it was the other team. But when it stopped, we're both looking at each other. It's looking
at me, I couldn't see the face, but I could see the hair. I could see the individual hairs
coming from the top of the hair and it came all the way down with the shoulders. And when it was
looking at me, it was kind of like it was turned a little bit to its right, which means I was looking
at its left side a little bit, but it was looking straight at me. So I can see, but I can see
the hair coming down, just that one side individual hair. I was probably at least two or three
inches long probably. That's what it looked like. And the color looked about, there's either a dark
brown or a blackish color, but I couldn't tell. This was about a four to five second
stare down. And this is when I went to a shock because I knew it wasn't human. But my mind just
didn't want to tell me that it was a Bigfoot either, you know? So that's where the
confusion was going right there. Because my thought of the Bigfoot was totally different than what
I thought when I watched the movie, about five years earlier, I watched the Legend of Boggy Creek.
Okay.
So after I seen that movie, this was supposed to be just nothing but a monster that was out to terrorize people, you know?
So that's why I was confused because if it wasn't been a bigfoot, it should have made some kind of an aggressive move towards me in my mind.
for whatever reason I just started shooting
I just started blasting away
hoping that was my brother's team
you know so I started going
I started yelling out bang bang bang bang right
so I didn't have any guns
I didn't have no fake guns or anything like that
all I had was my fingers
all I'm doing just going bang bang bang bang
and I'm just yelling at my top of my lungs
so when I did that
the two that were sitting on the mound
they stood up
they all stood up now these two
were actually standing on the mound and they're elevated and hyped a little bit.
So anyway, I was just, now I was really confused because now I can see their, I can see
the hair come around them as well.
They all three turned around and they started booking away from me.
They just started leaping through the grass, heading towards that, the residential street,
about four or five hundred yards away.
And there's also some houses right there.
So some backyards, it's got some lights also.
in the backyard of these houses.
But beyond those houses was a street.
And then beyond that would be the start of the mountain.
Even though it's real steep,
a person can't just climb up that as far as a human is concerned.
But luckily, there's a graveyard just right off to the left,
just on the south side of the apartment complex.
You go right up to the cemetery at the ridge of the mountains.
and then you can take a trail that goes all up to the top of the ridge,
which we found out later.
But now, when these creatures took off,
and they were probably about, once they started leaping to the field,
then I started yelling out deer.
This is when I went to a deeper shot,
because now I'm still trying to gather my thoughts of what I'm looking at.
When I know they're on two feet, and they had two arms,
and I know they didn't have any clothes on either,
because I can see the backs of them when they're,
when they're running away from me.
But all they could do is just yell out deer.
And I just started yelling that thing out.
I started yelling out deer to the top of my lungs.
And I was in so much confusion that I wasn't in fear yet.
I didn't, I wasn't even scared yet.
I was just totally confused.
So as these creatures got about maybe 50, 60 yards away,
they slowed down.
And then they were just,
just kept with a steady pace walk heading away from them.
But they kept turning their bodies around to look at me.
to make sure I wasn't following them or whatever.
I noticed my sister and her boyfriend were standing right next to me.
And apparently they can only see what I was looking at,
so they couldn't verify whether it was either.
They just thought it was just, they didn't know if it was a human or not,
but as far as where their perspective was.
So now I hear my brother and his team coming from the apartment complex.
I can hear him yelling my name,
and meanwhile I'm still confused
I'm looking at the ground
I'm just kind of
I'm just dumbfounded
I just didn't even know what to think
it was I had to turn around
I turned around
I grabbed a whole of the fence
and I'm just looking up and down the
you know looking down the ground
looking up at the top of the fence
so I waited for my brother's team
to get there
come to get to us
because they can hear me
they can see me on the other side of the fence
but my brother and his team
got to the fence line
all I can hear is my brother
telling me that they just saw Bigfoot
and that's all it came out of his mouth
is he says we just saw Bigfoot
and that's when I went to a deep shock
I mean that's when the fear
probably the worst fear
that I've ever had
before that incident
or even after that incident
no matter what
that was the worst fear I've ever had
not the fear that they're coming back
that they'd come back and get me
just put me right back in that spot
of me being that close
to a creature that should have been either folklore or whatever you want to call it,
you know, legendary thing.
But when I went to that shock, I went totally blank.
All I know is that my brother told me later that all he seen me do is just grab a hold of that fence.
The fence that I just grabbed the hold and just used my arms and just crawled all the way up
to the top of that fence and threw myself over the fence.
The next thing that came into my memory banks was me.
I was on the other side of that field.
I was over close to the apartment complex in the grassy area.
And I just dropped to my knees.
And now I'm shaking like crazy.
I just can't.
I had the worst experience at that particular time.
And I had tears just coming out of my eyes.
And I was in total, just total shock.
And it took me about 45 minutes before I can even start really
comprehending what was going on, building.
And so that we can all sit around.
and talk about what was going on, you know, because that's what we did.
We ended up sitting around a circle right there, but we were still quite a few yards away from the fence.
But we were right next to the apartment complex.
That's when I found out what my brother's part of the story was and what my sister and her boyfriend, what they saw.
And then when I told my story, that was everything just clicked into place, you know, and that's basically it.
So everything after that, it was just a matter of deciding.
if we were going to go and tell somebody or not
throughout that discussion,
we decided not to,
especially me and my brother,
because we were pretty shy.
Me and my brother and my sister,
we just came to this town
and we moved around a lot,
so we're always trying to, you know,
make friends wherever we could.
So that's basically my story right there.
At what point did it kind of click
it wasn't your brother?
Because I find it fascinating.
how the mind deals with stress, trauma, and shock.
You know, you're yelling, dear, dear, dear.
And obviously, these aren't dear.
But at what point did you kind of realize, oh, that's not my brother?
It was basically right when I stood up and was looking at him.
But in that same instant that I was going into a shock,
but whatever reason
when I noted it wasn't
it wasn't a Bigfoot
but it wasn't my brother's team either
so I don't know
why it came out of my mouth
I just said I just started yelling
as my brother's the other team
for whatever reason
and then when I'm shooting at him
then now when I seen him
leaping up in the field
leaping through the grass like that
now then I just started switching from
the other team I just started
saying that's a
it's deer
I just kept yelling out deer
knowing for a fact that they weren't dear,
they did not have four legs whatsoever.
They were running at a pretty,
and you can see them,
when they were leaping it,
you can tell that they're pretty wide,
what do you call that,
stances,
you know,
they're making some pretty good distance
until they slow down,
of course,
they slow down,
they're still going at a steady clip
just at a walk,
but that's when they were looking back at me.
Probably to make sure I wasn't,
going to either following them or whatever.
Of course, I can't tell you what they're thinking either, but all I can say,
if they weren't, they were not aggressive.
They were non-aggressive whatsoever.
That's why it confused me the most, because I'm always thinking that if a Bigfoot,
the one that I know of, the only one that I knew of at the time was the, was the legend
of Boggy Creek.
That was my whole, that was my only image I had in my mind of what a Bigfoot would have been,
would have been a, would have been a dangerous creature.
Yeah, I could see that.
You know, the legend of Boggy Creek you have in your mind what you think Sasquatch is.
And then when he see it in person, it's completely different sometimes anyway.
Why do you think that you went into shock later after it was all said and done?
It was just the words that came out of my brother's mouth without me seeing anything.
When he told me that he saw Bigfoot, all that did to me was confirmed that that was a Bigfoot.
because if they saw Bigfoot, and they weren't even in shock like I was,
they actually watched these Bigfoot's go all the across the field.
And at this time, they weren't like in deep fear because they knew that these creatures
were already walking away from them.
And these creatures didn't even acknowledge my brother's team whatsoever,
so they didn't even look at my brother's team.
At a certain point, my brother's team were already at a certain comfort level
knowing that, okay, they're not going to, they're not in any immediate danger of any kind.
So by the time they got to me, that's when everything, that's when I became 100% for fact that it had to be a big, it was definitely a big foot because if my brother seen what he saw and I experienced what I experienced, there's no other way of looking at it.
Yeah, like I said, I'm fascinated with the mind, especially when it's in shock.
And I can see your brother saying, hey, we just saw Bigfoot.
I could see your world come crashing down at that moment, realizing your mind's not fooling you.
you know what you saw.
How far away from you were these creatures?
And if you would, would you describe all three of them?
I realize that it's dark out.
The one that came out that came running towards me,
that was, of course, I could see the individual hairs from the base.
He's about the middle of the shoulders down to like the middle of the arms, basically, area.
I can see pretty clearly.
And there's all nothing but hair.
I thought it could have been a jacket at one, you know,
a particular second or two, but
then I noticed that the hair
was just coming right straight down the
right straight down the side of its head
and right down to the shoulders
like a kind of like at a slight angle.
I didn't see a neckline of any kind.
The size was hard to tell.
It was definitely pretty wide though.
It was at least a good three feet wide
at the very least.
But it's kind of hard to tell even with that
with that one right there,
he turned out of a slight angle towards me
when I was looking at it
So I couldn't get a direct looking straight at him, except I seen his head, of course.
But I couldn't see any facial features.
There's no glowing eyes.
There's also no smell.
The other two when they stood up, that was the only time I even looked at them is when they stood up,
because I thought that was my sister and her boyfriend at first.
But they're standing on that ledge, on that dirt mound.
And they were already about the same height I was, and I was already three feet up.
and they're about 20 feet away.
So all I can really see in detail on them is just the hair going down pretty much the same as the other as the, as that first one.
And it just went right around, just right around his head all way down around his shoulders.
And that's it.
That's basically what I see it.
I seen the most here when they actually all turned around and running away from it.
And then they got away from that thick brush that was right there with the ambient lights.
I could definitely tell that there.
And you can definitely see that there's no article of clothing whatsoever.
Not one bit of clothing.
So, and there's no bare skin either.
I can see on the backs or on their backs.
But like I said, when they're facing me, of course,
it was kind of like a shadowy area in front of them.
So I couldn't see exactly what their chest would look like.
I couldn't see any if they're male or female of any kind.
But they did seem like they were younger.
You had mentioned that one of them was taller.
He was like six foot plus.
I mean, how tall do you think he was compared to the other two?
The taller one was about at least three inches taller than the other two.
And I want to say anywhere it could have been six foot three to six foot five or so probably.
That's just a rough guess because I didn't have anything to really gauge it on myself.
because like I said
there's like a big ditch
and everything right there
right next to where they're at too
and I couldn't tell
if this sock squatch is inside of a ditch
it was not on one of the
dirt mounds at all
now the other two
like I said they're a few inches shorter
and they're just a little bit down for me
and I was 5, 7
and they're already
they're about even with
about the even size
when they're standing up
they're about even with me
probably about three feet
down from my elevation from when I was looking at him.
And I know from talking to you off the air that this was the only time that you saw them
makes me wonder why they would choose to go through there.
Maybe the cover of darkness.
I know you had mentioned a drought in the area.
And oftentimes people run into these things when there's some sort of disaster like a drought.
But it really makes me wonder why they were passing through.
Yeah, of course, going through all the theories and stuff.
I mean, like I said, it was a, I think it was a four to five year drought going on at the time.
And it was July.
We stayed indoors almost every day until it did get darker out so we could do stuff outside anyways.
Because the temperatures were exceeding like 110 degrees.
And so that means it was like, and it was like at least in the upper 90s.
It was like 99 to 100 degrees even during the nighttime when we were playing this game.
And I kind of get the shock.
I mean, I know that you had mentioned on the air and off the air,
you and your brother had just seen the legend of Boggy Creek.
And, I mean, those were really events.
It wasn't made up.
But if that's what you have in your head as far as what you're going to run into,
I kind of get the shock now, you know?
Yeah.
That's why I wouldn't do confusing because that's the only thing I had.
I didn't know anything else.
The only other thing we watched was in Leonard Nimoy back in like 78 also.
So we've seen that the same time.
We're about 10 years old.
Me and my brother were about 10 years old at the time.
And we watched both those series.
But like I said, there's no mention that I can remember at all
that they were saying that they're like really calm creatures or anything like that.
As far as I knew that these creatures were going to be, you know,
were pretty dangerous like animals.
And your brother and his friends were actually a lot.
closer. When you guys spoke, did he go into any more detail about what he had seen?
Well, he was able to see the fur or hair a lot better. And he's the one who told me that he
definitely seen it look more like a brown, brownish red or whatever. But like what I said,
it was a little bit darker where I was at, even though I can still see some of the detail.
but yeah but they're about and these creatures were about
I'd say at least 50 or 60 feet away from where my brother's team was laying down
they noticed the same thing I did they noticed that the one was a little bit
bigger than the other two and they said they're definitely over they had to
they're definitely over six feet like they're ranging between the six six one to
six five or whatever you know why do you think that the larger one kind of rushed
you know after looking back at it
When it was looking at me, it was, like I said, it was bent down a little bit, hunched over a little bit, and it was looking up, it was like, it was almost like it was, and it had it, and it had it in one of its hands up, like it was trying to, I don't know if it was trying to tell me something or wanting me to, I don't know, they're being, they're definitely being very calm and very, there's no aggression whatsoever.
When you say it had its hands up, it was it like its palms up?
Yeah, yeah, had it on its left hand, just had it just kind of like looking up at me.
Like, I don't know if it would want me to give them something or what.
I mean, something like a kid would do, I guess.
So that's why I'm thinking, I mean, it could have been like a juvenile Bigfoot.
I don't know.
I mean, you know, I'm still kind of lost on that trying to figure out exactly what age group that I'm looking at, you know, even right now trying to figure out.
The only thing that I know for a fact is that there's nothing else that could have been.
Ben was a big foot. I only had two choices. It's either somebody, three people running around
in a, in some kind of suit trying to fool us, or it was a, or it had to be soft squads.
That's the only, those are the only two, that's the only two logical things that could
even happen. And I just don't see anybody trying. Nobody knew we were out there playing,
playing a war game anyways. There's nobody else even on the streets.
Yeah, I think it's fascinating, too, that you took your hand in the motion of a gun and went
bang, bang, bang, and they took off.
Sasquatches like the Sam people, they're easily startled.
Thank God that, you know, there was no aggression on their end.
And who knows, they might have been younger.
I ask everyone on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is?
What's your take?
After that incident, I always consider them as being,
they're definitely more human-like than they are animal.
I don't know.
It's hard to say if they'd be more human or not.
Compared to being an animal, it's hard to say.
But when I started hearing stuff like the Sierra sounds,
which I just started learning about that here in the last five months or so,
that they're chattering, like the way they're chattering and stuff,
is just the way that they communicate with each other.
So it's more, they got way more intelligence than just some animal out there.
That's for sure.
And there's definitely nothing paranormal or anything about these creatures.
There's no, there's no, there's no, uh, nothing like that.
I didn't see nothing paranormal about these creatures.
It looked, there's definitely totally just, um, flesh and blood.
That's what I witnessed.
After all this time, I'm definitely thinking that they're,
I'm thinking that they're definitely more of a human, some kind of human aspect.
They, to me, it's just kind of logical just to think that they have more,
they have a higher, higher intelligence than just being an animal.
Yeah, well, I know it was a brief encounter.
And you know, a lot of times in brief encounters,
people rarely talk about anything paranormal.
They rarely ever talk about anything strange.
Normally, you'll find that when these things are on people's property.
Man, I don't think that they're human.
But it's hard to argue with people when it comes to their behavior.
A lot of their behavior is very human-like.
There's no question about that.
So it makes you wonder.
I know this happened to you over 40 years ago and, you know, it was a real brief encounter,
but I really appreciate you taking the time to come on.
I really enjoyed chatting with you, Curtis.
