Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:230 Creatures chased us off of a deer lease

 Spoke to the witness last night and the witness is still upset over the incident and rightly so. He writes "Wes, we were chased off the deer stand by two or more of these animals,after the chatter stopped,we could see them through the brush keeping up with the ATV, I would like to tell you my story."  If you have had an encounter email me [e-mail] 

Five, five, four, four, three, three, two, one. One. When I had come down this hill, I had seen this creature cross the road. They would have ripped my locked door from my truck, extracted me from my vehicle, and no one of that damn thing I could have done about it. This thing I got to notice in its eyes. His eyes was real, real evil, real sinister looking.

You know, the look it was given. What would air put him? See him. Now, sir. That son of a bitch is about 60 foot. Sir? Yes, I'm working right at him. Sasquatch Chronicle.

And they were actually chased out of an area. And some of the things that Mark describes, It's multiple encounters, but he really didn't know what it was until he saw it. Let's jump into it tonight. I want to welcome Mark to the show. Mark, thanks for coming on tonight, man. I really appreciate you being here. It's my pleasure, man. It really is. And if you would, kind of start from the beginning. Tell us what you were out doing and tell us what, you know, for the audience,

just kind of walk him into the whole encounter. Well, I've retired and wanted to get on a deer lease, so I got on a deer lease in East Texas. We got set up and everything. I had a crown blind and a feeder out. And me and my wife, we were going to the barn early that morning, probably around six. It was just starting to get a little daylight.

And we've come across this creek that was maybe about a foot deep, 20 feet across, you know, and it was on an ATV trail. And we're putting along, and I see this guy crossed in front of me about 30 feet. I tell my wife,

I said, hey, man, do you see that guy just run across? She's in nine and seen. right there where he went across the road and you can see a footprint. And it was maybe 12, like a size 12. It wasn't nothing to throw me off. But he was barefooted. And I said, this guy's running around out of here in 30-degree weather, barefooted.

My wife said, well, maybe it's a homeless person. Think much more of and just went on to a blind because he wasn't out of the ordinary size or anything. It was just a person to jump across the road. We didn't think much of it. Went on to the blind and everything. Well, it was a couple of days later. My son was there. We're going to go to the blind and hunt pigs,

and we're on the ground blind. Get up to where the blind's at, and we drive into this wall of smell. it was I don't know how to describe it it was it's not pretty bad and he's like

man you smell that yeah and the blind was probably 50 yards from us and he said was that a scum and I said

no I don't know what it is but he could drive through it and not smell it from the other side I'm on this side and I can smell

it's just like this wall was right there and he said, hey, man, there's somebody over there behind the deer feeder. And you can hear these two people talking. And I said, man, can you understand what they're saying? And no? And we sit there and listen to these two people talking for about a minute or two. And I'll tell them, I said, well, I'm going to go over there and tell these guys that they're in a private spot.

And they can't be here. I get about 10 or 15 feet starting to coming over me like hey I need to get out of here and I start backing up and I said man we need to get out of here yes but what was wrong

I don't know these might be poachers or something we need to leave and go back until somebody that we got poachers in our air we take off and we probably got 100 yards to go before we get to

the main road. And I can look in the foliage and there's something running with us. And you can see it like fade in and out because of the picket that was there.

And while we're driving, I'm pointing over to these, there was two of these, I thought at first it was pigs. I'm pointing over to whatever was that was running with us. so he could see it. And they're staying right up with us the whole time.

We get to the main road, and I stopped and I told him, I said, hey, man, whatever comes out of there, light it up. And he said, was that pigs or hot? I told them, I said, I don't know if they were big. And we're looking right there. We're at the corner, and we can't see anything, but they're right there because they stopped right there at the edge of the woods. We stayed there for maybe about a minute, give that long, and we left.

We went back to camp to tell the boss guy that, hey, we think some poachers or something are, you know, at my deer stand. He said, well, he was going to tell somebody else, and that was about it. And we were sitting at camp, you know, talking about it, wondering what was chasing is out of there. And I've been chased by pigs before. I've been around them, like my whole life. But I talked about, I said, well, those were some big pigs, man. I ain't ever seen pigs that big before, especially out of that area.

Well, we just lived right. Nothing, you know, nothing out of ordinary at that time, you know. And I know we were talking about how we saw a homeless guy run across the road. And he was barefooted. and then having this happened to us, it was kind of, you know, strange things happening. Then we were hearing other stories around camp. Then we had one guy come in,

and he was there probably a week, and then packed up all of stuff and left, didn't tell nobody why or anything. We had one more day with my wife and son there, and I told him, I said, hey, he didn't want to go back to that spot. I said, well, let's go to this other spot, Go hot coyotes.

So we went to this other spot to go, Coyotes. We got set up and everything, and a little bit of fogs start coming in on us. And I told him, I said, well, hey, we might as well roll it up because fog's coming in too thick. And right when I said that,

something behind us, man, it went, and my son was, what the hell was that? and when it roared or grout, all these coyotes went off. I mean, they were all around us. There had to be more than 20 of them. I mean, they were right there. But the fall came in and we couldn't see them.

But they were right there. He said, man, I want to get out of here. I want to go home. He pointed out and said, look. And you can see the fog where the fall were rolling in on itself like something. walked through it. I thought that was kind of weird. He said, what's that?

And I said, that's the wind. Well, we left out of there, went back. He said, man, that's it. He told his mom, he was shaking up about whatever it was that growled at us. I told him, well, maybe it was a big cat. Because I didn't know. I know it wasn't a coyote, that was for sure.

And we talked about it. He said, that's it. I'm not coming back here no more. I'm done. There's too many strange things going on here. I just let it go. Well, the wife and son, they were leaving to go back home. They had to go to work.

And I told them, it was the week of Thanksgiving. And I told them, well, hey, y'all pick me up. You know, y'all come back and pick me up in five days. So that was the plan. Well, they left. And the next day, I just did some work around the trader out there, you know, stuff that didn't need to be done, just hung around there. The day after that, I decided, well, I'm going to go up. There's a main road, and then there's the gate that goes into the dealers.

And it's about 100 acres of pasture. And about 75 yards down this road, there's a creek that runs through it, and there's trees going. one, you know, in the creek. But other than that, it's basically opened up. The grass is probably three feet tall, two or three feet tall. So I stopped right there at the gate. I don't even go into deer leaves, and I'm sitting there. It's probably 75 yards to where me and him were at when we got growled at.

And I'm sitting there about an hour before it gets dark. and I'm waiting to see what's going on maybe I can see what the ground is and I see these two guys walking out of the woods and I'm like man I wonder those of the guys that were over there

talking where I was hunting that or who are these guys it wasn't supposed to be anybody in that area at that time and I see them walking towards the road and something just wasn't right about these guys.

I don't know what it was, but something was just a little bit off. And they get right there on the edge of the road where the creek is turns and looks at me. I know this guy can see me, and I'm trying to see if I can identify her by knowing. But something just, I don't know, I couldn't put my finger on it.

I'm on the deer leaves by myself. Everybody else is going home. This is like on a Tuesday or something. And, man, that still bothers me. This thing cocked its head back and lit out a scream. It's grab it. Man, you could have heard it in another county. And when it did that, the other one took off to the right

and just disappeared in the, in the, the grass. And it was like it was coming towards my area. I cranked up and took off. I went to the trailer. Locked the doors.

I was there by myself. There wasn't nobody. And I'm way out in those woods. And I'm trying to process what I just saw. I called my wife up and I told her, hey, you need to drop what you're doing and come get me right now.

And she's a three-hour drive out. and she asked me what's wrong. I said, just come get me now. Probably the longest three hours ever spent my life because I didn't know. Them things were outside, were around me or what. I just know I wanted it out of their bath.

She showed up and we left. Everything there. She was asking me what was wrong and I didn't know what to tell her. I think it was three days later before I told her what happened. And, you know, I just couldn't, I didn't know how to process.

processed it. I didn't know what to think. What I saw was real. And then it made sense of everything else that happened to us out there, that these things that were talking and us getting chased out of there. Then I realized what it was that was out there. And, man, I didn't go back. It was probably a month later at, we were sitting out talking about how we need to go get our trader and the Fort Wooders and everything like that. And I went to going back out there, you know, not by myself. So my wife said,

well, don't you call David up and he'll help you. So I called David up and all of us went back out there, loaded up all our stuff and left. And that was the end of that, man. It took me a long time to try to believe what I saw was real. and try to process it. And, man, it took me a while. I couldn't, you know, because I didn't believe in these things.

It was, I don't know, it kind of flipped my world upside down, that's for sure, because I've been out in the woods all my life, and I never seen nothing like that. Yeah, I can imagine. Let me ask you, when you heard the chatter, what did the chatter sound like, or the talking that you described? Well, when we were sitting there trying to listen to it, it was like, I kept asking my son It's like you can almost

understand it but not and it was like it was like you know it's just something weird and I thought

well maybe it's I don't know foreign language these guys are talking or something I mean they weren't that far off man because see they were probably about I want to say maybe

30 yards from us, 30, 40 yards, maybe 40 yards behind the deer feeder. When I start to walk over there and tell them that they were in a spot, I didn't get that far. Maybe eat, and that's when I stopped, the talking stop. I thought maybe it was poachers or something. I stopped and I said, hey, let's go tell somebody. I wasn't going to go and confront them, you know, just by myself. and I was armed.

I mean, I was armed. I had an AR with a twin-round mag and a sidearm, but something was just uncomfortable about the feeling. It wasn't until I saw that thing scream. That's when everything fell into place. That's when I started putting things together to that. That wasn't a homeless guy that ran in front of us, and that wasn't people that were back.

deer, you know, behind that deer feet are talking. The thing has got a language, man, because they were talking to each other. I know the chatter you're talking about, especially if it's even at a small distance, it's really hard to play. So you almost think it is some sort of foreign language you're listening to. It's really fast, and it's really, it's hard to describe. I've described it before, like two Russians talking really fast. Yeah.

We're kind of like, I know down in Texas, I describe it more like monkey chatter, but it was, I say monkey chatter, but what I mean by that, it's just real fast gibberish, and it's hard to understand what they're saying. And it's disturbing to hear it. How far away from you were the creatures when you saw the two step out? I want to say five yards, or maybe just a little bit closer, because I stopped right at the fence. and I figure maybe about 75 yards and it was I think maybe I had about I don't know 30, 40 minutes of daylight left it just started to get dark

and that's when I noticed movement onto my left in these things well I thought were people walking down the tree line I was like man who are these guys they don't belong out here because the people that were on the deer lease there's two sections for them to hunt at and the people that were on the deer lease

they all hunt in this other section that's back behind on the west side and where I was at there was only two people that were supposed to hunt right there in that area and they weren't on the lease they weren't even up there so I didn't know who these people were

And then I realized, well, when this thing, you know, screamed or roared, then I realized it wasn't people. And, man, I can still see that. That still bothers me. Yeah, no, it would bother me too. When you first saw them and he thought there were people, was there anything off about the whole situation, prior to the screaming when you were looking at these two individuals

that made you go, I don't think those are people? or did you think there were people all the way up until they screamed? No, when I first saw, I thought, you know, who are these guys? Because they were walking up, right? But something just wasn't right about them. You know, and I noticed that they were a little tall. I thought, man, those are some big guys. And I thought, man, there was something just wasn't right,

but I didn't know what. It was just something that was off there. I mean, after I saw maybe they walked maybe 15 feet right then, I knew something was wrong. But I didn't, I couldn't put my finger on. Like I said, I'm like a lot of other people, man. I didn't believe in this. And I've been hunting my whole life.

I've been in the woods my whole life and never come across anything like this. one thing that caught me that little weird is how how much taller they stood up in the you know the grass it was just weird I couldn't put my

my finger on what was wrong you know I didn't know what the thing you know I thought are these I just thought it was people walking but I didn't there was something strange about the way

that they will move in and I don't know. That's interesting. And it's one of those things to where I guess if you don't believe in Bigfoot or Sasquatch, your first assumption would be it's people, just odd people. Were you able to make any details out? Well, I mean, I can see the outline. And at one time I thought that these guys had hoodies on. you know

that's what it seemed like you know at that distance I didn't have my binoculars with me and I normally take them all the time but I was just basically you know wanting to get out of the trailer

and maybe see something you know maybe I can see what growled at at us and well that's what it was that growled at us when we were there

and they they showed up in the exact same spot where we were coyote hunting and where we got growled at. But I didn't see anything out of the ordinary at that time because I wasn't looking for nothing. I was just trying to figure out who they were. I wouldn't prepare for that at all.

You know, like I didn't believe in that, especially where I was at. And I thought, well, there is such a creature. It's up in northern California, you know. I didn't think anything like that would be here in Texas. I just know when it pulled his head back and screamed that I was out of there. I knew that that's when I realized that that is not human. It was too deep and too loud. And when I got to the truck, I just told her, hey, man, come get me out of there.

Yeah, I don't blame you. I probably would have done the same thing. It's interesting that you describe you thought they had hoodies on. I just talked to another witness in Northern California. it was a hunter and he said he was being, he thought he was being stalked by a black guy with a hoodie on. And I said, well, so he saw the clothing. He was no, it was all black. He goes, but it just from my, he goes, I thought it was a black guy with the hoodie on. And he goes, but the distances this guy was covering was amazing because I was on a four-wheeler.

And I had traveled probably two or three miles at full blast, you know, full throttle down. And he goes, when I got to the place where I was going to set up camp, he's up on the wrist. line watching me. And he's like, there's no way humanly possible. This guy could have made that distance and that time. And he goes, he's a real big guy too, like wrestler size, just real big and tall. And he goes, I could have sworn he had a hoodie. And sometimes these creatures, witnesses that come across them, a lot of times witnesses will say they have kind of a cone-shaped head or what we perceive to be a cone-shaped head. And I think sometimes when witnesses describe the hoodie, that's kind of what they're describing, kind of that.

If he saw me with limited light and I had a hoodie on, you'd think I had a cone-shaped head if you just saw the outline of me. But I think a lot of these creatures do kind of have that cone-shaped head. Not all of them, but I think most of them do have that.

So I just think that's fascinating that you bring that up. Yeah, and it wasn't until I was, I don't know, I'll say a couple days later before I can even tell my wife. She knew something was wrong, bad, because I'm a pretty tough guy Nothing

Nothing really bothers me I'm almost fearless But when this happened This thing ain't supposed to be there I mean you're brought up A monster don't exist But when you see it It flips your world upside down

Because you're seeing something that is not supposed to be there And I knew I had all my stuff out there on a deer lease, I had to go get it. But I went going back to that deer lease, but what I had as far as weapon was, and the first thing I went to do was go get a 44 mag and a 45-70. I thought if I'm going back out in those woods,

because I love being in the woods. I figure, hey, if I get back in those woods, I'm not going, you know, not armed. You know, I mean, it's just no way. and if I come across another one of these things, I'm putting it down. I'm just glad I didn't see the face. I hear that these things in Texas are really nasty looking. I'm glad I didn't see that.

I don't want to see it. Yeah, they're definitely not pretty. I know Bob Garrett says they got the face only a mother could love, so they're pretty ugly to look at. So as you were sitting in the deer stand, you see these two things. Did it stop and look in your direction and then scream? No, I wasn't sitting in the deer stand. I was on the forewinter, and I stopped at the gate that goes into the deer stand right off the main road.

And because I was probably maybe 300 yards from the trailer. And I was just sitting on the floor where I didn't even go through the gate. And I could see where me and Jacob were sitting where we got growled at. And I thought, well, maybe whatever growled at us, I'll see it again. And if it's a big cat, I'll shoot it. And then that's one of these guys walked out, right? I mean, exact same spot where me and Jacob were sitting. And Jacob, he wasn't going back out there after that.

He said, that's it, I'm done. I'm not coming back out here again. Because we didn't know what was going on. I mean, because I didn't believe in these things. And then after when I saw that thing screened, then it made sense. The thing that the guy I thought the homeless guy across the row. The guys talking at the deer stand behind the feeder,

them two things talking. That's why we couldn't understand them. And then when we left out of there, what I thought was big pigs, you know, running in and out of foliage with us, it hadn't be them. That's the, I mean, then everything made sense. After this happened,

I wanted answers. I want to know what, why they're here, what. I mean, I want answers to these things about them. It can run me going in the woods. That's something I love. But to this day, I won't go into woods for myself. No way. And I'm up in Arizona now.

And when I got here, I found this guy by the name of Mitch Wade that was researching. And I got with him. Because he was the only person I could talk to to try to get some answers about these creatures. And what's going on with him? And then trying to learn a little bit from him. He passed away last year, though.

So now when I go out, it's usually me and my wife or me and my son. But when I leave and go out, we're heavily armed. And they're here up in Arizona as well. on a thing that they call the Monster Realm or the Moghion Realm. But there's been a lot of activity up here that goes on. I think it was last year, me and Jacob went out. It snowed, and we came across 18-inch footprints that were six-inch spread, all straight in the line, and we took pictures of it.

The year before last, it was right around October. We were hearing these screams. that my wife was outside and she came in and got me and she said hey man you got to come listen to this and you could hear these screams and i'm like get in the house she what i heard that before and that's what came out of that that creature's mouth i mean it was the same thing and man it's it's shaking me up a little bit now yeah i can imagine it's it's one of those things that never really goes away so do you think the scream was directed at at you? Do you think it was looking in your direction,

saw you and... Oh, yeah. I mean, yeah, it looked at me, and it screamed, and that other one that was behind it, went off to the right, and went down the hide itself in that grass, and was coming my way. Flanking you. And I wasn't staying there to find it. Yeah, I was getting out of there.

I mean, I was gone. and that's when I called my wife to tell me, hey, come get me now. And I told her, I said, look, when you come up here, leave the truck running and don't get out. And when she showed up, I threw stuff in there, and I was driving out. And when I was leaving, I had the pistol in my hand. And the only thing I was thinking was let me hit pavement. And after I hit pavement, we pulled into this gas station, and I had to stop. I mean, I put my head on that steering wheel

Just I couldn't You know trying to Get my shit together You might say It messed me up bad It turned my world up Side down And she was asking me

What's wrong? What happened? And It wasn't until like I think Three days later I sat her down And told her what happened And then I talked to Jacob

I know what growled at us I know what was talking. I know what Chase does and he was, I ain't going out there. He wasn't going out there no more after we got right at it

and he was shaking up pretty good and his mother knew it and she could come over to me and said, hey man, he's shaking up and I said, yeah, he ain't coming back out here. Well, after that happened to me, I wasn't going back out there

especially at nighttime. It ain't no way. And I wasn't going out there by myself. At that time, I didn't care about my stuff. I knew I had to go get it, man. I mean, a big travel trailer and two new four-witters, but I guess I just needed some time to recoup and get my act back together. I wanted to ask you, when you saw the thing cross-the-road, you thought was a homeless man? Looking back now, was there anything odd on it? Was there anything odd about the way it moved? Was there anything odd about the way it was proportioned? Now,

back to rethink. I don't think that was a homeless man. Yeah, I don't know. No, no. Now that now that I know what it was, yeah, I know exactly what it was. And yeah, I just remember it being, it was probably about six foot tall, you know, was six foot tall. And when it went across the road, it was real, I don't know how I said, real smooth like it, just like no effort. And I mean, the road was, I think maybe 10, it was an ATV trail.

And it went, I mean, at one step, and it was all the way across. And when we stopped, I said, look at that footprint. It was so fresh water started coming into it. And I said, man, that guy sure is flat footed. I said, wow. And we made a joke about it.

I said, well, we'll see this guy again. We'll go buy him a pair of shoes because it was 30-degree weather out there. Man, I did not know. I had no idea that those things were out there. And then come to find out after this happened to me that that part of Texas that I was in was a hotbed for them. I didn't know all that until after the fact that we ran into these encounters, man. Yeah, no, they're definitely down there. They're definitely out.

They're definitely down there. I think it's fascinating to the creature's behavior. You know, one sees you, it screams. And, you know, normally a wild animal will either flee or charge you. They don't flank you. They're going to attack. They're going to bulrush you or they're going to flee. 99% of the time they'll flee.

They'll go the opposite direction from where you're at. In this case, you know, one stands there screaming and the other one moves into flanking position. And that should be somewhat of a warning to people because they do that. And they're not flanking you because they want to come bring you an apple. Oh, yeah, I knew that when I seen him take off and this thing went down on fours. I mean, it started off on two legs, but soon as it hit the ditch into the grass area, it went down. And I knew it was coming my way. And that other one just stood there looking at me.

it didn't move. And, man, I'm gone. I'm out of there. I mean, I mean, you're six cents to you. You're in trouble. It's time to go, man. And, like, I was talking to my wife the other night,

when that one that growled at me and Jacob, it was right there. But we couldn't see it because of the fall, but it was right there. Like my wife said, if they wanted you, they could have had you man, they could have had you, Mark.

I mean, but they didn't. I think what it was was a warning to get out of their area. Yeah, I think you're right. I think that with these things, and this is my own personal theory, and obviously theories can change over time, but I think that these things are opportunistic. And I think if there's two individuals like you and your son, obviously armed, I think they're going to pick and choose their battles.

I think the growl, like you said, is just get out of here. I think if they honestly really were going to come get you, they would have. But it would have been a, I guarantee one of them would have walked out with a couple holes in it because you guys probably would have shot it. And I don't think these things are stupid. I think that they see that. It makes me wonder if they're eating from the deer feeder, if that's why they were cut, he kept going around to that area.

And the reason why I say that is I had a hunter on one time, actually just a couple shows ago. And they were talking about their deer feeders. And he said, man, it would, he goes, well, should lie. a month or two only lasted a day. And he went out there one day, and the creatures were there, eating from the deer feeder. So it makes you wonder if they were eating from that deer feeder. Well, in from the feeder, and also where I was at, hotbed for pigs.

Set up in there. And I had a fox pro that has a pig squill on it. and the day before we ran into these things talking and that wallace stink i was had a fox pro using a pig squealer that also makes me think hey did i draw them in you know uh i don't know but i mean we were at oh yeah we had a lot of pigs in there you know i mean you're in Texas, but this one spot was like a, right below it was a creek, and they come in there, and I mean, it looked like somebody tilled the place up, you know, I picked, tear everything up. But there's a, right behind the deer feeder was a, I don't know what kind of, it was about a,

it was, it was two big holes back there that were probably 30 feet wide, 12 feet deep, just two, big holes back there. And those things that were talking, those animals were in those holes behind the deer feeder. So I don't know. I guess they were there hiding or waiting for the pigs to show up or what.

But we're sitting there listening to those. Man, I wished I were recorded that. I kicked myself in the butt every time. I wish I could have had that. It would probably do the best recording out there of listening to these two things because it was so clear, but we couldn't understand

what they were saying. And we listened to them for a good minute. You know, a good minute. And you could tell it was two different animals. I mean, they had a communication. They got a language. There's no doubt in my mind about that. But when I start to walk up and confront them,

they stopped talking. And when they stopped talking, I stopped. Like I said, I had this fear come over me like, hey, I don't need to do this by myself. And I'm well-armed. That's when I told him, hey, let's go tell somebody about we got poachers out here. And then when we took off to leave out of there, I could see something caught out the corner of my eye. And I looked over, and you could see fade in and out of the foliage that there was something running with us.

And it was two of them. And I pointed, he saw them. And when we got to the main road, that's when I said, hey, if something comes out, light it up. He asked me, what was it? Was it pigs? And I said, I think so, but they were big. Well, that's when we left after about a minute. I was looking in them woods hard with a scope trying to see,

because pigs sometimes were laid down. And I was looking in there, and I didn't see nothing. I didn't see anything. So we left. That wall is stink that you ran into. How would you describe it to someone listening that's never smelled that before? You know, like rotten garbage. You know how if you have a bunch of food and you throw it in a dumpster and the heat hits it

and it sits for a couple of days and you open that lid and you're like, wow. And it's something else about it, man, that we were sitting there playing. Like he was on the other side of it and I was on this side of it. And the smell was that and pulled my hand out and smelt my hand. You could smell it. It was like an oily must that it was, it was, it was like something was sprayed. I don't think these animals got a gland like a scunk because it was like a stink. I mean, I don't know how to describe it, but it was heavy.

And it just hung there. It just, it just hung there. And we were talking about it last night. We were out on the porch talking. about it. I said, hey, you know, Wes called and tell him what happened. And we were talking about the smell

and everything. And Jay was saying, yeah, man, it smelled like rotten garbage, and that's, that was best I could scrub, but I could tell it was, because like I said, I can stick my hand in it, and I pulled my hand back to smell, and it was on my arm.

I guess maybe that's why I'm thinking, oil, but it was pretty rank. I didn't understand if they have a scent gland, they hear the flu winter's coming up and they sprayed it. I don't know. Stop us, throw us off track. What? You know, I still don't understand that one.

Yeah, it's hard to say. You know, it's hard to say what, it's really tough to say what causes that. I've had witnesses on before, you know, and I've never personally smelled that, but I've had witnesses on before. describe it exactly the same way. It's like a wall you run into of just stink. And there's nothing really around, but there's a wall that you hit of just stink. And I even had a witness one time who ran into a Sasquatch by mistake.

He was going to go out and chase. His kids were out playing at night. They were, he was going to run out, scare him. So he runs out there. And he's running through the woods. And he hits what he thinks is a tree. But it was an actual Sasquatch. ran full speed right into the thing.

Thing didn't even move. He falls back on his back, and he said that it stunk. It smelled so bad that he, and he described it like rotten garbage. He said garbage just has been sitting out in the sun. The worst smell you can imagine, he said 100 times worse than a skunk. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And what was interesting is he went back home, took all his clothes off outside, went in, took

three showers, and still couldn't get the smell off of him. It was on him for about three days. He had to burn the clothes he was wearing. and you know i have to look into you know and again i'm not comparing saskatch to gorillas but i have to look into because gorillas kind of do the same thing they have this weird odor they put off and it smells like b-oh and it just stinks and they do it when they're scared or when they're mad it's when emotions run high they release this stink and it almost makes me wonder if these things are doing the same thing the oil that you describe how it must be like oily or something in the air

it amazes me when I talk to witnesses how they can say I can walk two feet forward, run into the smell of stink, walk two feet back, and can't smell it. That's exactly. Yeah, exactly. Like he went through it on the other side, and I was on this side, and he would go up to it, he could smell it, and he'd back up and said, I can't smell it. And I did the same thing. It just hung there.

I mean, it's like we were trying to figure it out and that's when these things started talking. And he said, hey, there's somebody over there. But it just hung there. It was the strangest thing, Wes. I don't know how to, it was just strange. It was really weird. Definitely different.

And it's not like rock and garbage. That was out in the sun for a long time. You know, but they, I don't know. maybe they got a scent gland like the skunk. I'm curious, when you heard the two of them talking, and I've always wanted to talk to a witness that I actually heard two of them talking as close as you did for a minute. Was it just one creature talking, or did you get the impression like there was a conversation going on? No, there was a conversation, man.

It was two different ones because you can tell the gibber's in the jibber. There was one that was real deep, and the other one, it was deep, but not as, deep. And you could tell when one stop talking, the other one would start. And you could tell that there was a difference in the voice, you know, just like me and you have a difference in our voice. Oh, it was definitely two of them. And they were talking to each other. They had a conversation, man. There ain't no doubt in my mind. I was that close. And it was definitely two of them. And they were talking to each other. What do you think the creature's intention was when it screamed and then the other one

breaks off to flank you. What was your impression on what was going on at that time? I felt like my life was in serious danger. I felt like I was in bad, bad danger. I did. I feared for my life. I never had that feeling before, but I was shaking up when I called my wife. She knew something was wrong. She knew something was wrong bad. And I felt like if I didn't get out of man, those things are going to rip me apart. And I kind of tend to agree with you on that situation. I think, like I said, you know from being a hunter, and I mean, I don't have to explain this to you, but for people listening, that may not be so, have been out in the woods as much.

You know, when you run across something, even another predator, for the most part, and they see a human, they'll bolt. Even cats, even mountain lines, for the most part, a mountain line really wants, they go for small children, they'll go for, you know, they're kind of opportunistic predators too as well. But for the most part, most wild animals will go the other way the moment they see a human or they think a human is in the area, you know, in the area. Here you come across this creature.

The other one breaks down to all fours and breaks off into a flanking position to flank you while the other one just stands there and doesn't move. And that right there, I mean, that behavior to me kind of describes, you know, I think you probably were in some danger at that moment. Oh, yeah. out like, hey, I had an AR with 20-round bag and 45 on me, and I felt like that was useless. You know, I mean, I felt like, hey, I did not have enough in my bag to bring to the battle at that time. That's for sure because it just, it sure got my attention.

I got out of there. I mean, that's what I felt was, if I didn't leave, I was going to die. so I was gone and when I got in a trailer I grabbed the biggest thing that I had at that time which was a 30-30 loaded it up locked the doors

and was waiting because I mean I was not that far from where this happened at 300 yards and I know they knew I was there and I was the only one on the lease at that time because everybody else just left so I was there by myself

And that's when I called my wife and told her, hey, come get me now. And she was asking me what's wrong. Man, just come get me. I didn't know how to tell her what I just saw because I couldn't believe it. When you heard the growl, how would you describe it? Oh, man, that was deep. It was a lion really deep. You could tell that.

And my son, we talk about it to this day because we've heard mountain lions before. and I knew it wasn't no cat. And he's always, you know, looking to me for answers. And I couldn't tell him I didn't know. So I just told him. It was probably a mountain line. But I didn't know at the time until after I saw that thing scream or growl, whatever you call it. And I realized what it was that was behind us that growled at us.

But it was deep. I mean, you could feel that it had a big windpipe on it, that's for sure. your insides. It did. It vibrate the inside of you. Yeah. No, I know exactly what you mean.

And it does. It's enough to shake you up. It's enough to kind of just, it's enough to upset you enough to disorient you. And I mean that in the sense of like, I don't mean disorientate you in the sense you don't know where you're at, almost to where you kind of have to get your wits back about you, about what's going on in the situation.

Because it does rattle you. It scares you. And it's hard for people to, you know, believe that. But it does. I mean, it scares a hell out of you in that.

happens. I've heard the growl before, and you're right, it's so deep. I think I use a description, which probably is in the greatest description, but when I had growled in my own encounter, I remember saying it reminded me of like a demon growling. It was so deep and so pissed off and so, I mean, it wasn't like a normal animal growling at you. Yeah, it sounded like it came from the pits of hell. That's what, I mean, you're right about that. It's, it's, it's, it's, There's no words to really describe it unless you experience with us. And that's why it's hard when something like this happens, you can't just talk to somebody.

I mean, I know when I talked to my wife about it because it bothered the hell out of me. I know she understands. She knows she truly believes everything that happened to us because she was there when that one creature went in front of us, and she was there when me and Jacob got growled at and everything. She knows what we're telling her it happened, but it's still hard to tell somebody that hasn't.

It's like when you tell somebody it has experience, then they understand what you're talking about because they witness it. And it's hard to describe. Words can't even really describe that growl, you know, that I found it. Yeah, you're right. It's very hard to describe.

There's nothing really, and there's no animal that you can really compare that growl to, that even comes close or is even in the same ballpark is this type of growl. It's really tough to find another animal that, I guess lion would might be the only thing I would put in the same that's even kind of like it. But it's different.

I know what you mean. It's very hard to describe. It's hard to, you're right, it's hard to put into words. It really is hard to put into words how terrifying that growl really is. Yeah, it surely got my attention, man. I swung around and Jay goes, that ain't on the call, is it?

I'm like, no. All them coyotes went off and they were right to. I mean, when that thing, it was perfectly quiet. And we were fixing the lead because the fog was getting too thick. And I said, okay, let's take off. Let's go. And right after I said that, that's when that thing growled. And when it growled all these coyotes, there had to be more than 20 of them.

even the puppy, you could hear the puppy's screaming. They were right there on top of us. I mean, they were barely out on the edge of the fall where we couldn't see them. If I would have just started shooting, I probably could have hit at least five of them. Just, just point and start shooting. I know I could have hit at least a couple of them. They were that close. They were right there on top of us.

And when we got back to the trailer, he said, that's it. I'm done. I'm not hunting out here no more. it killed it for him he said that's it I'm done I'm not coming out here no more and he wouldn't go out there no more didn't run it for him

I don't blame him at all when you went back to get your stuff was there anything missing was there anything messed with did you notice did you look around for anything or what was the scene when you went back well when we went on the deer least

was the guy that run the place We loaded up as fast as we could and everything, and I still had my ground blind and my deer feeder. Me and my son went out there to go and retrieve it. Well, it was gone. The ground blind deer feeder, it was all gone. I said, well, I don't know. It's gone, everything. The ground blind deer feeder, it was nothing there.

And we got back, and why I said, well, where's your? stuff. It's gone. Let's get out of here. We, that was it. I held it. I mean, that was only a couple hundred bucks worth of equipment and at that time I really didn't care. I'm like, I just wanted out of there. But as far as

the trailer and the full-witters, no, everything was okay. The treter was all right, the full-witters they were in the same spot. I don't think it maybe took us an hour to get everything and get out of there, man. I'm happy to be gone.

But now, I'd like to have where I had somebody with me that experience the same thing. If I had two other guys with me that's had an experience like that, go back to where this happened and put one of these things on the ground, man. I really do. I mean, if I see another one, I ain't hesitation. I'm dropping them. Yeah, I don't blame you. I mean, I felt like that for the longest time.

I felt like kill them all and God sorted out. But, you know, not all of them are that way. I think it depends on the type that you run into. And East Texas is known for the aggressive ones, man. They have no qualms about coming in on you like that. They have no qualms about. And I think honestly, they felt maybe you were crossing into their area, their hunting area.

And so it's two predators fighting over a territory. And I think the deer feeder was easy food for them. Again, it's not the first time I've heard them taking food from a deer feeder, you know, and eating it up. I just, you know, you got the gambit of encounters there, and I'm sorry you went through it. You know, it's tough when you don't believe in these things. And then you have an encounter like this. It does take your world and basically turn it upside down.

Because I've talked to many hunters just like yourself that have said to me in the past, hey, you know, I've been out hunting my whole life. I've never seen anything. Never came across anything. These things aren't real until they run into them. And then they realize, oh, crap, these things are actually real. and it's not Harry and the Henderson's, these things could potentially kill me if they wanted to.

But you have to be careful. The other thing to you have be careful with Mark is, just like in your situation, you know, I think if you would have shot that one standing there, you probably could have taken it down with an AR-15, depending on where you hit it and how many times you hit it. But that other one was in position to pounce. If you're ever in a position like that again,

and you're going to shoot one, make sure you have another bullet chamber because you're probably going to need it. Oh, yeah, and I don't, go out right there on watching each other's back. I'm talking about we don't leave each other's side because we, we've already discussed that,

hey, these things are out there. They're real, and we keep our perimeter, and we make sure that we got our eyes open. Like before, you know, when you're growing up and everything, you're looking for deer, armadillo, possums, you know,

something like that, hey, nothing. But you don't think nothing like this exists, and you're not looking for them. until you actually see one, and man, I guarantee it, every time you go in the woods, that's the only thing you're keeping your eye out on. Yeah. It's looking for those things. Yeah, even now today, when I go out, you're right.

I mean, my head's on a swivel. I'm constantly on the lookout. My alert level goes from about a 10% to about 200% when I step foot in the woods, and that goes for any woods I step into. I'm constantly looking around. I'm constantly listening. just because these things, just like in the situation you're in,

they can come up on you so quick that if you aren't paying attention, you're in a really bad position if they come up on you like that. Oh, yeah, man, them things are fast, man. Fast they are, but when they were keeping up with us on the forwarders, it was like they wouldn't even use no effort.

And when I went back trying to process this, like, you know, trying to figure out, man, that wasn't a pig. There's no, I mean, I've been around pigs my whole life, and it didn't move like a pig. It didn't, you know, nothing. I thought, well, it was, it moved more like a cat. It was, it was like, you know, the smoothness of a cat, you know, like it was just gliding. And there's this big briar patch. And it went through this briar patch where it's like it was nothing.

I mean, it just mowed right through it. Man, I just never seen nothing like it before. But now that I know better, every time I go out to woods, man, that's the only thing I'm looking for is those guys, because I know they're there, and you've got to go with your instincts. If you feel like something's watching you, it usually is. And if you feel like you're in danger, then you need to back up. If you feel like you're in danger, you probably are.

Yeah, you are. When you were on your four-wheeler and you were taken off, two questions. were they on all fours as they were pacing you out? Yeah, they were all in all fours, both of them. And was there one on each side of you, or were they all both on one side? Both of them were on the left side of me. There was one in the front and one like not right behind it,

but kind of staying with it, but a little bit behind it. They were side by side, basically. And how fast were you going, do you think? think? At least 40, 45, at least. I was trying to get out of there. I mean, that's about as fast as you can go on that Fulwether Trail without crashing. So I was going as fast as I could, and they were right there. And they wouldn't use it no effort at all to keep up with us, that's for sure. I mean, none at all. And that's the scary part, is these things, I don't think most people realize how fast these things

can move. And I've heard that from a few other guys on ATVs. They were like, hey, I was doing at least 40 miles an hour, and this thing was keeping right up, no problem. And it's interesting, the other thing, God, there's so many things that I'm catching from your encounter. When they get down to all fours like that and they move, you're right, the best description is like a cat. They move like a cat. Very smooth, effortless, not like a bear, just very smooth. Yeah, I mean, that's when I got back, man, I thought, man, what can I compare this to you? And I thought, man, the only thing I compared to is like a cat.

It was just no effort. I mean, just none whatsoever. It was, I mean, it went through that briar patch. Like, it wasn't even there. I mean, it was just nothing. When we got to the main street, they stopped right there in the corner of the woods. And I couldn't see them. And they were right there, Wes.

I'm telling you, I mean, they were right there and we could not see them. Yeah, sometimes before they come. out in the open, they'll drop down like that. I've talked to many witnesses like that where they get chased out basically to the edge of the woodline. They look back and the thing's gone. And I had a one witness one time he said he looked back and it was gone. And he goes to start his four-wheeler again and looks back again and he sees it pop its head up. So it had dropped down to its belly. It wasn't gone. It was still there. But he said on the edge of the wood line, it had stopped. Yeah, I mean, they move like ninjas too. That's the other thing is they tend to move like ninjas in the

woods. No problems. Brier patches, no problems. Sticker bushes, no problem. You know, heavy, heavily brushed, no problem. It's like the witness I was talking to a couple weeks ago, he said he shot one and the other creature picked one up, put it on its shoulders. And he goes, this thing went up a straight, sheer cliff that most people wouldn't attempt, most professional climbers would not attempt with climbing gear. This thing went straight up this wall like it nothing. And so they move like that. When you see them move like that, it almost seems out of this

world in the sense that it's hard to compare it to something else. Yeah, you can't compare these animals to anything else on this earth. There's no way, man. I mean, and they, you know, they have a language. Sort of like nothing on this earth. They move

like nothing on this earth, man. I mean, the way they move, the only way is maybe like a cheetah. When I came here and was talking to Mitch, I was trying to, man, after this happened, I was trying to get every piece of information I could find about these things. Like I said, it turned my world upside down, and I just wanted answers.

I'm still doing that today, and it bothers me every day of what went on out there. I'm not scared like I was in, because then I didn't know what, go happy. Now, I'm alert about them, and I'm definitely well-armed, and I know that they can rip you apart. There ain't no doubt about that. I'm probably like you. I want to know more about them. You know, the more you learn about them, the better, you know, the more equipped you are for yourself when you go out in the woods. No, you're absolutely right. You're absolutely right. One last question I wanted to asked you. When you were, when you're on your four-wheeler and you're at the gate and he saw them coming, were they walking side by side or were they walking in a line?

No, they were, when they came out, one was in front of the other one. And the other one was like over to the side, but behind it when they were coming out. And there was a, there's a trail that goes down that creek on the wood line. One was behind the other one. One was smaller than the one. One was shorter than the other one a little bit. Maybe six, eight inches. And the short one, well, I say short one, I don't know.

He was probably six, seven feet tall. But the short one is the one that, when that thing screamed, The short one is the one that went off and tried to flank me. How big would you say the other one was that screamed? How tall? I realize you're just estimating. At least seven. At least seven.

It probably could be eight because I was, like I say, 75 yards away and it was starting to get dark. And I never went back. If I had to win back, and now I kind of kicked myself. in the butt, but I was pretty shaking up then. But if I had to went back, then I could have put Jacob there and measured and found out exactly how tall that thing was. I know it had to be at least eight. Yeah. So that's just a wild guess. Well, it was definitely an encounter to remember. I'm sure you won't forget it for a long time, probably until the day you die. And I would have been

terrified, too, especially when you're by yourself, even when you have another person with you, it's terrifying. But I can't thank you enough for coming on. on the show, Mark, and sharing everything. Oh, it's my pleasure, Wes. It really is. Talking to you is, like, actually, therapy, be honest with you. I appreciate that, man. It helps to be able to talk to somebody else that's had the experience like this.

And it's kind of like we're a band of brothers that's been through this, and we stick together, you know, and through all this whole thing and try to help other people that's had encounters. what, where to go about and what to do after.
