Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:262 Skeptic turned investigator

Episode Date: October 16, 2016

Tonight I will be speaking to Mark who is from Southern California and had an encounter over a year ago. Mark moved to Washington state and went out with a friend to try hunting for the first time eas...t of Seattle, Washington. I know the area well, and have recently received many reports from this area. Mark saw a creature who stood up and looked directly at him, and had a great description of what he saw. Mark says "I could not believe what I was looking at, I never believed in this before and didn't care about the topic." The men decided to go to the area where he saw the creature, and they found where the creature had been laying down, as well as large, human-like tracks. Mark and his friend have returned to the area almost every weekend for the last year and have had other encounters with the creatures. Mark says "I have just become obsessed with this, I feel like I need answers." Mark invited wildlife biologist, John Bindernagel out to the area and John was so impressed he gave Mark a plot watcher to set up. Mark has sent me some of the evidence that he has collected, and has also sent the Olympic Project his audio to have it reviewed. Mark says "We have seen the creatures on several occasions and I am working on getting some clear video of them, I have recorded strange chatter, whoops, screams, roars and yells." He was able to capture them on video as the creature was ducking down between two trees and sent me the still frames from that video. Mark says "I want to gather all of the evidence and work on getting them better on film before I release it to the public." Tonight Mark shares with us the encounters he has had in this area and even an encounter where he was charged by one.

Starting point is 00:00:02 Five, five, four, four, three, three, two, one. One. When I had come down this hill, I had seen this creature cross the road. They would have ripped my locked door from my truck, extracted me from my vehicle, and there wasn't a damn thing I could have done about it. This thing I got to notice in its eyes. Its eyes was real, real evil, real sinister looking.
Starting point is 00:00:47 You know, the look it was given me. What were here pushing? See ya! Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? That son of a bitch is about six-foot. Sir? Yes, I'm looking right at him. Sasquatch Chronicle.
Starting point is 00:01:38 A place where people share their accounts. Let's start the show. Welcome to the show, everyone. Thanks for being here tonight. Got a great show plan for you tonight. I'll be bringing Mark on the show. And Mark grew up in Southern California, and he was pretty skeptical of the whole Bigfoot thing growing up.
Starting point is 00:02:09 He never really gave it two thoughts. And then he moved to Washington State, and was invited out by a close friend to actually go hunting, and the guys had an encounter out there, and it's really interesting to hear the obsession that has taken place with Mark and many other witnesses that run into these things. You become consumed by it. And after Mark's encounter, he kept going back to the area,
Starting point is 00:02:33 and over their last year and a half, they've had a couple encounters out there with these creatures, sometimes seeing them, sometimes not, just getting vocals and that sort of thing. And the more and more Mark and I talk, the more I was fascinated because a lot of his evidence that he has is pretty compelling. It's not my place to release it to the public. I know Mark and time is planning on doing that, but he does have a lot of very compelling evidence. He's gotten from this area, and it's east of Seattle, and I know the area well.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I've talked to a lot of people who've had encounters in that area. So look for that coming up. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com. And if you get a chance, check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com. Help support the show, become a member, get additional shows. Thanks again for listening tonight. I really appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:03:32 I want to give a shout out to John B. John, I got your message. And so I know you wanted me to give you a shout out. There's your shout out. Thanks for listening, man. I also want to give a shout out to Mike M. I know he posted a picture of him listening to Sasquatch Chronicles up on the big screen while he's doing his Sunday grilling. Mike, thanks for listening.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Really appreciate it. And I also want to give a shout out to Jimmy H. Looking good in your Sasquatch Chronicle sweatshirt. Thanks for posting that. It looks good on you, man. Let's jump into it tonight. I want to welcome Mark to the show. Mark, thanks for coming on, man.
Starting point is 00:04:09 I appreciate you being here. Oh yeah, it's no problem. Thanks for having me on. If you would for the audience, I know you grew up in Southern California, as you and I talked last night, and Bigfoot really wasn't a part of your reality. It really wasn't, you know, you didn't think much of it. Kind of walk into your first encounter. Tell us what you're out doing, and then walk us into what happened. Yeah, I never had been hunting in my life. And my friend, who I work with here, grew up in Oregon, and his family relied heavily on deer and elk meat. They lived in a rural area, and so he wanted to go hunting out here.
Starting point is 00:04:48 So Labor Day weekend of 2015, we planned to go scout out hunting areas east of where I live here in Washington. And we're going to go out to these logging roads, the mountains, and down near these rivers and creeks and stuff, and just drive these logging roads and park. And so that's what we did. We got left on Sunday. on Labor Day weekend 2015, and we were going to overnight, and we left here at like five
Starting point is 00:05:15 in the morning, got out there a few hours later, and we're out there all day. We parked a truck and walk these game trails and look for deer and elk tracks, and we were going to come back and hunting season later on, and, you know, maybe we have some luck. So around 2.30 in the afternoon, we came to, like, this dead-in, and it was kind of a logging road, and it was kind of a big turnaround. maybe were some logging trucks in the past had turned around, but they had logged back there in a long, long time, so there was a lot of old growth and some smaller growth, but mostly old growth.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Off to the left, there was like these boulders, three and four feet in diameter, and they're kind of purposely buried in the ground halfway, and they're blocking access to part of another logging road or a skid road kind of, and the road's kind of getting overgrown a little bit. So we've been there about 10 minutes, and my buddy was sitting on a boulder facing the truck, and the truck was across the way, about 50 feet away, and his back was to that road that was blocked. But I had my back to the truck, and I was standing up looking down that road. And the road kind of gradually went down to the slope, and about 30 yards down, it made a slight bank to the left.
Starting point is 00:06:28 And where it made a bank to the left, off to the right, you know, so the roads lined with trees, but off the right, there was this heavy brush, and you couldn't see through it, but about eight feet up there was like this opening in it. It was like a window, and it was like eight feet up, and then the top of the window was like 10 feet. The window, it was like four feet wide. So when you look down there, your eye was kind of naturally drawn to that opening,
Starting point is 00:06:51 and you can see some tree trunks in the back there behind it. So about the third or fourth time looking down there, I noticed that the tree trunk on the right kind of, it looks different, like maybe something was crawling up the side of it or something, and it was kind of moving, and I was like, kind of sitting to my friend, you know, I thought maybe it was a raccoon or something. And so then it moves out a little further,
Starting point is 00:07:15 and I'm looking at it, and I realize it's a face. I can see this hair on the back of the head, the head kind of sloped back a little bit, the hair was like on the back of the head, and then I'm looking at, I can see eyeballs, I can see a nose, and I can see a mouth. I'm like, I'm like looking at it. I'm like, man, what, what, that's, what is that?
Starting point is 00:07:36 You know, it's freaky. So then after about 30 seconds, it ducked on the tree, and I'm standing there just like, thinking to myself, man, what, what is that, you know? And so then it reappeared about 15, 20 seconds later, but what it did is it, it moved closer towards me and it came up to, right to the opening in the brush. And I see this top of the head slowly rise up and then the face, and then I see it from the upper chest to the top of its head, and it's had silver hair on the head.
Starting point is 00:08:07 It was really long, and it came down to its shoulders, but the hairline started way back on the top of, like, this odd conical, shape-looking head, and the skin on the face was, like, a brownish color, and it was like an old beat-up baseball glove. It was, like, wrinkled and scarred up really bad, and it had, like, this Frankenstein brow, and then there was these... black eyeballs looking at me. And then the nose, the bridge of the nose was kind of inset, pushed in, but the nose was hooded like a human. So it was more of a, it was like a human nose, but it was really wide on the face and kind of flat. And you couldn't see the nostrils like an ape. It was like a human, like, hooded. So then what I thought was really odd is the distance between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lip. A human is like one finger. And this was like over two fingers, maybe
Starting point is 00:09:01 almost three fingers distance. It's this really long distance, really strange look. And then the lips are really thin and wide on the face. And then the chin was flat. And there was kind of like it looked like it had like no neck. I mean, the shoulders were just huge. And I couldn't even see the outer ends of his shoulders. It was when a silver hair came down and hit the rest of his body,
Starting point is 00:09:21 it looked maybe salt and pepper or silver and dark brown, but it looked greasy and matted. So if something's dark brown and greasy, it might appear black. I couldn't tell the color. So I'm looking at it. I'm like an amazement. Like I wasn't expecting this and I didn't really believe in it. You know,
Starting point is 00:09:39 I've seen in search of as a kid and I watched the Monster Quest stuff, you know, years ago, 10 years ago. And I was just like, man, this is like, I can't believe what I'm seeing. And my buddy is eating and he's talking about what we're going to do the rest of the day and where we're going to camp. And I had completely focused him out. And after maybe, I'm guessing maybe 40, 45 seconds, This thing gives me like a, it like brings its eyebrow down like in an angry fashion.
Starting point is 00:10:07 And then it's kind of gives me this smug look like it's pissed off. And I said, Doug, look at that. My buddy turned around and I pointed at it. I said, what is that? And it turned to its left. And I remember when it turned to its left and it took off. The back of the hair was like the long and silver like a man almost kind of. And then so it took off.
Starting point is 00:10:29 So I immediately thought, man, it might come after us. It might hurt us, you know, hurt us. So I turned and I ran to the truck, and my buddy had stayed over there, like, and one trying to figure out what I was pointing at. And I ran to the truck, and on the front seat, I had my backpack, and in there I had a 44-mag revolver, but I didn't, I thought I didn't have time to dig for it. So I, on the floor of the back seat, I had an AR-15,
Starting point is 00:10:51 and I grabbed it, and I grabbed a 40-round magazine, and I charged the handle and turn a safety off. I come running back over, my buddy goes, what do you point at? And I said, it was a Sasquatch, and he's all, come on, man, really? And my buddy, you know, like I said, I grew up in Oregon in the woods near the coast and Kulaski and his whole life. And he never seen anything or experienced anything.
Starting point is 00:11:13 He's like, come on, really? I said, Doug, I'm not kidding. You know, and I'm like trembling. And, you know, I got goosebumps all over me. And I'm like, freaked out. And he's like, well, let's go down there. And I'm like, man, I don't know if I can. He goes, man, we've got to go down there.
Starting point is 00:11:27 And so after a few minutes, I calmed down a little bit. I said, okay, so we start walking down this road really slowly, and I'm in the lead because I have the rifle. And I'm just freaked out. I'm just, you know, I can't explain, you know, the fear. And so we get to the brush where it was standing behind. And I just sucked it up. I thought, okay, I'm going to push through.
Starting point is 00:11:51 And I put my rifle. And I thought, you know, I'm pushing through with the muzzle of my rifle. And I'm thinking he's going to pull me in and rip me apart. and we pushed through this brush, and the forest floor there is a real, you know, it's real, rains a lot, so it's real wet, but it's heavily shaded. So the thick moss, you know, you step in it, it's like you sink like, you know, four or five inches. And under the moss is like all these broken and rotted tree branches. So when you step, you're like falling over and, you know, you can hardly walk through it. But where it was standing, there's these massive impressions, these foot impressions, they're like over 20 inches long.
Starting point is 00:12:27 And they're like huge and we're looking at each other. And then like, whoa. And then we look up at the opening, and the bottom of the opening is like eight feet. The top of the opening is like 10 feet. And this thing filled the entire opening. So this thing's like, you know, nine and a half, ten foot tall, you know, probably 10 foot tall, a thousand pounds probably. You know, I'm thinking, man, this thing is massive. And the impressions take these steps and they walk behind this big Douglas fir tree.
Starting point is 00:12:52 And next to that tree was a fallen tree. So we walk around there and laying on the tree. the fallen tree was this big pile of three or four dozen picked mushrooms. There was this big tree leaf with a handful of slugs and snails in it, maybe a dozen or so. I look at my buddy. I go, man, this thing looks like he was getting ready to eat. And we just pissed it off. And my buddy's like, you know, I'm like trembling. You know, I'm, you know, my buddy's like, man, you need to calm down. I said, man, dude, I'm freaked out. I said, you know, I don't want to be here. And he goes, man, look at the impressions. They kind of go off into the woods. Let's follow.
Starting point is 00:13:27 him and I'm like, no, man, I'm, I can't follow, you know, I said, no. So I stepped back out onto the skid road and now we're about 50 feet apart. He's following the impressions and I'm on the skid road paralleling him and sometimes between the brush and the trees, I can't see him. And I'm saying, Doug, man, are you all right? I can't see him. He's always yelling back. Yeah, I'm all right. I'm just following him. So we walk maybe about 100 feet and off to my left, to my other side in the forest, I hear all this breaking of branches and crashing and snapping of stuff. And then where he's at, we hear the same thing.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And he comes running out of there. And he's like, man, there's something in here. He's pissed. And I said, there's one over here pissed, too. Let's get out of here. So he walked out of there real slow. And I was walking backwards, looking back down there with my rifle. And I was completely, I mean, I wasn't expecting anything like that.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I was freaked out of my mind. And so we get back up to the boulders. And what I did at this point was wrong, and I've only told a few people when I did one other interview where I admitted it. But what I did is I so filled with fear and adrenaline. And I was really angry about being so scared that I emptied my entire 40-round magazine back into the woods back there, just spraying. They didn't care what I hit. I was just shooting. We ran back over to the truck and tore out of there, and there was like a few minutes of silence.
Starting point is 00:14:55 And I looked at my buddy, I said, hey, you still want to overnight out here? I know. And I was like, oh, man, we got our cell phones. We got cameras. We've got to go back and get pictures of all that stuff, the impressions and the food. And he's like, no, man, no, we're not ready. We're not ready for this. We'll come back next week.
Starting point is 00:15:18 He goes, we'll figure something out. We're not ready. So we left and went home at that point. How far away from you was a creature when it stood up? What kind of a distance are we talking about? Like, I'd say 40 yards probably, I mean 120 feet. And when you saw it, did it look more human-like? Did it look more ape-like when you looked into the face?
Starting point is 00:15:40 I know you did a great job at describing it. But what was your impression when he saw it? My first impression when I saw it with the silver hair and the beat-up, wrinkled skin. And to me it looked like it had human features in it, but my first thought to my head was, it looks old. It looks really old, like a really old man. Like, like I said, it had human features, like the nose was kind of human in the eyes. But it was just this odd-looking face where, you know, there was no hair on the face.
Starting point is 00:16:14 And I've seen some others out there, you know, since then in the last 12 months where the face, the skin was a different color and the hair was black, but this one looked really old, just silver hair, just old. That's really interesting because, like, you and I, as you and I were talking last night, I just had a report from an ex-fishing game, well, not X, he's retired, out in that particular area where you're at, not far, about 30 miles from where you're at. When I spoke with him, he said, yeah, it was gray, had gray and silver hair, and when I had asked him, do you think it was more human-like, or do you think it was more human-like,
Starting point is 00:16:49 or do you think it was more of a primate like an ape or a monkey? He said, no, I reminded him of an old man, like a really, really old man, but it had the side, it was like a giant, like running into a giant out there. And I thought that was interesting. I almost wonder if you two saw the same creature. I know. I was thinking about that. Yeah, I would love to talk to that guy.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Yeah, there had to be too there because, you know, I heard the crashing and breaking in the forest off to my left. and where he was at, where it looked like it had ran to, we heard the same thing. And we've been back there to that site dozens of times, and we've had all kinds of activity there. But, um. Well, and I'm curious about that. So you see this creature, you don't really believe in it, be prior. And I'm assuming your buddy, Dave, was it?
Starting point is 00:17:40 Uh, Doug. Doug. I'm assuming Doug, you know, obviously believes you after seeing the footprints and everything else over there. You guys leave. and then you go home. What made you go back to that place? I don't know. It was like, you know, I needed answers.
Starting point is 00:17:58 I needed to know. I mean, it was, I just couldn't let it go. I mean, we came back the following week with tired Washington State fishing game wildlife veterinarian, whose hobby is now Bigfoot, and I got in touch with him through fishing game, but he has been out in that area. you know, when he worked for fishing game and as a private citizen doing his own Bigfoot research because he had seen some when he worked for fishing game. But I brought him out there and I wanted to validate our siding.
Starting point is 00:18:33 And we took him out there and not a lot had happened. I didn't want to suggest anything to him that next week out. But I was relieving myself next to this skid road where I initially saw it. and I was growled at. And then me and my buddy heard some strange talking while we were out there with him that day. It was like this weird, like fast chatter, like real raspy but couldn't make words, you know. It was kind of a strange thing. We've heard that in the last year in different areas out there before.
Starting point is 00:19:11 In fact, just three weeks ago, I got some audio recording of that same chatter that I sent to this guy named Dave from the Olympic project who's going to go through it for me and some we got some whooping, some audio, some whooping that he's going to go through for me. It's just become this real obsessive thing. I just can't let it go.
Starting point is 00:19:30 And the more we've gotten into it and the more we've learned through trial and error, it's just more and more and more and more. I mean, I just can't explain it. I had John, this researcher, this elderly gentleman from Canada,
Starting point is 00:19:45 he's a PhD if I say his last name everybody's going to know it but I don't want to say he came down out there and spent a couple days with me and he was impressed with
Starting point is 00:19:55 what was going on and said it was kind of looked like kind of a hot spot you know so how long did you take for you to go back out there he said it was about a week yeah the following
Starting point is 00:20:06 that all happened on Sunday we went back to following Saturday and then we were there like every Saturday and Sunday each weekend until just after Thanksgiving
Starting point is 00:20:19 there was a big windstorm up here and there was like 80 mile an hour winds back in the mountains back there to knock a bunch of trees down. So we couldn't from like late November until May we couldn't get to our original siding area anymore so then we could only get within a half a mile of it
Starting point is 00:20:38 and it was too dangerous to climb through these massive trees that were stacked on the road three and four high, you know. So we decided, okay, let's camp a tree. And this was in January, this last January. Let's camp out there. And we were going to sleep in tents initially, but we realized it was just too cold. There was no snow at that low level.
Starting point is 00:21:00 If you went up another 500 feet, there was snow. So we slept in my buddy's pickup. We get out there on a Saturday at like two in the afternoon, and we work at night, so we had worked all night, Friday night, and now we were up all day Saturday. So we parked the truck, and we're having to be. hanging out and we cooked dinner and then we'd been there for a few hours and I had took a bucket and I put some apples in it and some Snickers bars. I put an audio recorder in it and I put it
Starting point is 00:21:29 behind the rear window in the in the bed of the pickup and he has this plastic bed liner in the pickup and I crawled in the back seat of the truck and I went to sleep and I had put my head my pillow head and shoulders were leaning against the rear driver's side door my buddy was in the front seat was head against the front passenger door. And so I'd been asleep for about maybe five hours, and I woke up maybe 1030, 1045, and my buddy was snoring, and the windows at that point are fogged up, and it's pretty cold. And I could hear outside the truck, maybe just in the tree line, maybe 40-50 way, I could hear these drumming of sticks.
Starting point is 00:22:09 And it was like, click, click, click, click, click. And then you would hear a reply, not, you know, not too far away, but it sounded different. like the sticks were different styles, and it was bang, and I'm sunk. And they were going back and forth, you know, I don't know if they were communicating or just testing us to see if we would get out of the truck, if we heard it or something. So I was listening to that and then it stopped. And a few minutes later I hear some popping of branches like right next to the truck. And I thought I heard something walk up to the truck and I'm like freaked out at this point.
Starting point is 00:22:41 Well, then I feel the plastic on the door, the door panel, it went to the truck, I feel myself being pushed on, like something's pushing on the door, and I thought, oh, my God, it's right here at the door. It's like, it's right here, and then I hear, like, a hand slap on the glass. And I think I sent you a picture of the kind of weird fingerprints
Starting point is 00:23:02 on the glass on that door. And so I'm like, Doug, wake up, Doug, and he wakes up, he goes, what? And I said, dude, it's right here at the truck. It's pushing on the door and just slapped its hand on the glass just trying to look in. I go, man, I want to leave. And he goes, no, man, he goes, this is what we're out here for.
Starting point is 00:23:20 So he just basically rolled over and started snoring again. So then I'm listening. I thought I could hear it walking around the truck all the way around the truck, and then it came back to my side. And I hear the bucket that was right behind me in the bed. I could hear it be pushed around on the plastic bed liner. And it would stop, and then for a few minutes, then it would be pushed around again,
Starting point is 00:23:43 and it would stop. And that went on for maybe 45 minutes to an hour. And then I laid there probably until 2 a.m. thinking listening for other stuff and I didn't hear anything. And I'm thinking the entire time, the assault's coming. You know, they're going to roll the truck over. They're going to bust the windows out. They're going to kill us. Obviously it didn't happen.
Starting point is 00:24:04 So I think I fell asleep around two and I woke up about seven and I get out of the truck and it's now light out. But the bucket's now on the tailgate. and I run back there and the bucket's empty and I'm like, yeah, man, we got some great audio but then I realized the audio recorder's gone. It's not in the bucket. It's not in the bed of the truck. It's not on the ground.
Starting point is 00:24:24 I couldn't find it. We looked around for it. We couldn't find the auto recorder. And it was a cheap audio recorder. I wasn't too worried about it. But I thought, well, there goes the audio. You know, we're not going to get any audio. So then through trial and error, prior to that,
Starting point is 00:24:38 we, you know, it would set cameras up in my buddy's truck and we'd get rock throwing at the truck, and we were trying to get audio, a video of them trying to get into the truck, you know, and we knew through previous video, we'd listen to the audio, they had tried to open the door handles, and we're constantly throwing rocks and sticks to the truck,
Starting point is 00:24:55 and they'd even broke my buddy's windshield. So I was trying to set up cameras in the truck, I was setting up one on the dash, and I was setting up some on the center console, one looking out each door. We decided when we walk away from the truck, we're going to leave the doors open. And so my buddy was cooking breakfast
Starting point is 00:25:10 on the truck and we ate and so we get our backpacks on and uh firearms and uh we used to carry sidearms and a shotgun or a rifle but now we don't carry shotguns and rifles anymore because we found we get our best luck without them because i think they've probably seen hunters out there and they know what those big black sticks to go boom do so we don't carry long arms anymore we just carry a sidearm and uh so i turned the cameras on the truck and we leave the doors open and My buddy turns from the camera on and my backpack on, and we start to walk away from the truck. So we walk away from the truck, and we walk about a couple hundred yards, and we go around a slight bend in the road where you can't see the truck behind us anymore. And I realized, oh, I didn't turn my head camera on.
Starting point is 00:25:58 So I turned my head camera on. And behind us, we hear these loud tree knocks. It's like from second one to second 11 in the video. Boom, boom, boom. And I turn around, look, and I look at my buddy, and he's like, let's go back. back. I said, no, man, we got cameras in the truck running. We would be, man. So we knew they were back at the truck at that point.
Starting point is 00:26:18 So, you know, we went through that day, and then we race home to watch video and audio. And what I did, we didn't realize is I watched the video of the camera that was on my backpack. And we're walking away from the truck, and these two trees to the left of the truck, and they're in the ground next to each other, and they come up in about five feet up, they break off into a Y. there was a big foot standing behind those trees. And when he sees us walking away, he turns his head and ducks down out of sight. And I sent you some frames of the video.
Starting point is 00:26:50 You can see it standing there. And then after it's ducked down, it's not there anymore. And so I'm watching this video for hours, just amazed at it. Like, man, it was there the entire time. We never even saw it, you know. And so I put it through a computer program that I broke it down frame by frame, and I was going through it. And I thought, man, that's pretty amazing, you know.
Starting point is 00:27:10 So then I called, you know, I got that researcher from Canada to come down. He came out there and spent a few days with me. And we had established a certain area further back about a mile from there. We had some rocks throwing at us from the top of the hillside. And we started hanging these little thumb cameras on these tree branches back down there and try and leave in apples and stickers bars on the ground. and we could never we would leave the cameras there
Starting point is 00:27:39 leave for three hours and come back get the cameras and go home and watch the video they would you would hear rock tapping and tree breaking but you would never they would never step in front of the camera and get the food but I thought okay
Starting point is 00:27:53 I'll try something I'll put the food down and I'll hang the camera on a tree branch but I'll point the camera away from the food the opposite direction so we come back and there to get the camera, this time the food is gone. So cameras are giving something off. The lens looks like an eyeball,
Starting point is 00:28:13 or the lens is given off some kind of light they can see. You know, these aren't infrared cameras, they're just regular video cameras, HD video cameras. So we do that again. Come back again, you know, the following week or in the middle of the week, you know, when I woke up from sleep in the afternoon, I'd go out there and do it real quick. Throw apples, the Snickers bar on the ground on the side of the road.
Starting point is 00:28:34 they're pointing camera at it. And I'd come back and I'd have a couple hours later to get the camera and go home and watch it. And we'd get tree knocking and rock tapping from, it sounds like it's coming from up on this hillside where I've had rock storing at me from before. They wouldn't step in front of the camera to get the food. And then we'd come back to fall in the way. We'd do it the other way. We'd point the camera away from the food. We'd come back.
Starting point is 00:28:54 The food's gone. So there's something about the camera. I can't explain it. I don't, we can't figure it out. We don't know what's going on. you know. Does it worry you going out there and leaving food out for them and trying to, I don't want to use the term welcoming, but trying to bring them in.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Does it worry at all? I mean, are you worried about your safety at all? Well, yeah. You know, you mentioned that. That same spot where I've been doing that, that researcher from Canada, when he spent two days with me out there, on the end of the second day, I brought it to him back to his car and he said, hey, I've got these trail cameras. It's called a plot watcher.
Starting point is 00:29:40 He goes, they're just sitting in the trunk of my car. He goes, I'm going to give you one. He goes, go out there and hang it somewhere where you think you might be able to get some footage. And I said, listen, I said, I don't think game cameras are going to work. I said, they see them. There's something about them sticking out or they give off light or noise or something. I said, they won't work. He goes, well, would you do me a favor and just hang in?
Starting point is 00:30:01 I said, yeah, I'll do it for you. I'll hang it for you. So that was at the end of April, and so I'd called my buddy, who I'd been doing all the research with, and he was busy. It was, you know, now it's like two weeks later. He gave me the camera, and I still hadn't hung it yet. So I was just like, you know, I was telling my wife, she goes, well, I'll go out there with you. And I said, no, I'm not going to put you in harm's away.
Starting point is 00:30:22 I'll just go out there on Monday morning. It was May 16th. I thought I'll go out there, and I'll just walk back in the woods there about 100 feet where I've been leaving that food. you all hang the camera and leave real quick. I said, they'll never know I'm there. So I left early on Monday morning, and I got out there at Sunup, and I parked my truck. What I initially thought was like a half a mile, but I ended up being like 1.1 miles. I figured out later, but parked my truck back about a mile, and the sun had just come up,
Starting point is 00:30:53 and I put my backpack on, and in my backpack, I had a bottle of water, some paracourt. I had his camera, and I had a 4B4 mag on my hip, and I thought, I'll walk in here real quietly and they won't even know I'm here. They won't know that, you know, I know there's a, there's a, there's a century or a lookout up on top of that hill that's watching the road because, you know, with all the rock tapping and tree breaking and rock throwing, I've had at me from up there. And I thought, I'll just go to that spot where I drop the food and I'll walk in and hang the camera. So I walk in real slow. And I took me like 45 minutes to walk the mile. I would stop and listen.
Starting point is 00:31:25 I get to the spot where I've been dropping the food on the side of the road. And I walk in and I start. to walk in and I get about just over 20 feet in and it's real thick moth and it's hard to walk through this stuff and I'm thinking okay I'm just going to walk back here and hang it and hold so after I get about 20 feet in I notice I'm looking down on stepping I see movement in front of me from something a dark figure and I look up and from this big tree out steps this older juvenile Sasquatch and then from a tree on the right about seven or eight feet away a smaller juvenile Sasquatch about five and a half foot tall steps out and they're about
Starting point is 00:32:07 15 feet from me and they're both standing there just staring at me and this whole encounter lasted maybe 30 seconds but i mean a million things ran through my mind in that 30 seconds so can you describe what they look like yeah the initially looked at the smaller one for like three seconds and i realized he wasn't a threat but he was about five and a half foot tall maybe looks like a teenager maybe a stocky teenager maybe but maybe about 170 pounds. And the hair on them was all black. He was short black hair.
Starting point is 00:32:39 And they had weird-looking, conical-shaped-looking head and kind of small ears. The ears were just proportionally small to the size of their head. And then it had the same kind of facial features as the first one. But like I said, the first one I saw didn't have any hair on its face. These had hair on their face, but except around a little bit of area around the eye, the nose didn't have any hair on it, and the area around the mouth didn't have any hair. But the hair was black, and the skin color was a grayish color. And so, like I said, I looked at the small one, and I thought he's not threat.
Starting point is 00:33:11 This bigger one, the bigger one was like maybe 60, 230, 240 pounds. And he didn't have, say he looked like a NFL wide receiver or an NBA basketball player because he was a real lean, but he was solid muscle. He didn't have mash yet. But he was just cut. So he looked the same way. He had the same kind of shape head. They looked identical, but just a larger version, you know.
Starting point is 00:33:38 But the bigger one was more muscular. So I immediately, he standing there staring at me. I took a step back. He took a step towards me. And then the smaller one took some real quick steps and got behind the bigger one. So then I didn't see the smaller one at that point. So then now I'm like, man, what am I going to do? And I remember looking down at the bigger ones' fingers
Starting point is 00:33:58 because his hands hung down all the way to his. you know, in his thighs, almost to his knees. And remember the fingernails were yellow, like, I don't know if he had nail fungus, but it would be something similar in the nail, they're like yellow, yellow nails. I'm thinking, oh, man, what am I going to do? So I took another step back. He took another step towards me. And this time, he didn't open his jaw, but he, like, I've seen apes do it.
Starting point is 00:34:25 I, like, went and watched some stuff on YouTube. Chimps and apes. He, like, opened his lips in, like, this weird gesture and growled at me. I can see his teeth. He's like, and his teeth were like human teeth, but bigger, like, you know, like horse teeth, you know, kind of flat and square. But they were yellow and brown. And so when he would growled at me, I immediately turned with Disabled Vet. I walk and I jog, you know, I can't run.
Starting point is 00:34:52 I kind of make a limping jog, but so I'm only good for hiking like maybe four or five miles. But I turn and I start to make a move towards the road. And I take one step and he is right on me. I mean, not touching me, but I can feel him. He's like right behind me. I can hear him breathing. He's right behind me. And I'm trying to get to the road as fast as I can.
Starting point is 00:35:11 And as soon as I hit the gravel on the edge of the road, he hit me between my shoulder blades. And he hit, you know, I had a heavily padded backpack on, but I think the backpack relieved some of the brunt of the blow. But he hit, I don't know if it was a fist or the palm of his hand or a forearm, but I think it was the palm of his hand. But it was like a push and a hit. And it did kind of hurt. But he hit me between my arm. shoulder blades and I thought man I'm gonna kill me and I went head over heels and I landed on the opposite side of the road near the ditch and I landed on my left
Starting point is 00:35:42 side I had a backpack on so I'm trying to roll I'm grabbing for my my 44 mag and I'm unsnapping it and I'm see out of the corner of my eye he's now over my right shoulder about two to three feet away and he starts to walk past me and he gets about halfway across the road and I start to pull my gun out and I'm thinking I'm gonna put six in his back but that I thought he's walking away he's not a threat at this point. But as he's walking away, I'm looking at him. He's got these massive muscular calves, and then his thighs are solid muscle, and his
Starting point is 00:36:13 buttok is solid, is muscular, but the hair on his butt has got some feces on it. And then his back is this V-shaped back, and then I can see the muscles in the backs of his arms, you know, just these shoulders are muscular. And he just walks away, and as soon as he stepped off the road, I snapped my holster and got up, and I made an Olympian jog back to my truck, and I was thinking the entire time back to my truck, I'm, like, looking around me constantly, scared out of my mind. Like, at any point, they're going to jump out of the woods and rip me apart.
Starting point is 00:36:42 And I made it to my truck and threw my backpack at the back and tore out of there. That's terrifying, man. I think you're pushing your luck out there. And I know you keep saying the researcher from Canada, and a lot of people might be wondering. It's obviously John Benner-Nagel, and John's a friend of the show. And John doesn't go out to areas unless he thinks there's something to it. he's not going to make the trip from Canada to Washington unless he thinks there's something to it.
Starting point is 00:37:06 And I know with a lot of your, you haven't released any of the videos that you've taken, but you have sent me some screenshots. And there's definitely something going on in that area. I mean, you have pictures of footprints and broken trees. And I know you even have a picture of what appears to be a creature between the trees, as you mentioned earlier. Do you think you're pushed your luck a little bit in this area? Maybe a little bit. I don't know about right there.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I think what happened in that point was, is I've left food and apples there so many times and then left. I never stepped into the woods. So I think they probably knew I was there. I don't know how they knew it. I parked a mile away and walked in. Somehow they knew I was there. They thought, oh, that guy that leaves those red things and those sweet treats is here,
Starting point is 00:37:52 you know, let's grab the food after he leaves and, you know, we'll get it, you know. Well, this time I didn't drop any food. I walked in and they were waiting. They either had a choice. They could either run or they could confront. me. And so they confronted me. And then when I turned around, what really was odd is he was right on me within one step. I could hear him breathe and I could, you know, I could, you know, he wasn't touching me, but he was right behind me. He waited until I hit the gravel edge of the road and then
Starting point is 00:38:17 hit me as if to say, you stay out here, don't come in here. That's what I think, you know, because he could have killed me. He could, he could have ripped me apart. He wasn't a massive one. Like I said, he looked like an older teenager, you know, an older juvenile is what, is kind of the impression I got. Be careful leaving food, because you might just be simply leaving food. They might be looking at it as a tribute. I know the area pretty well that you're talking about. I know the general area pretty well.
Starting point is 00:38:45 And it is, it traditionally does have a hotbed of activity. I mean, I do get a lot of reports from that area, from hikers and campers. And, you know, there's a lot of waterways through there. There's a lot of brush to hide in. There's tons of food. If I was one of these creatures, that's the area. I would hang out because there's someone. many places to hide and the food is pretty endless. Tell us about the Memorial Day weekend.
Starting point is 00:39:10 When I tore out of there, I was like a 30-minute drive to get the cell phone range, and I called my buddy, and I told him, he's like, man, you went out there alone, and I said, well, dude, I had to go hang that camera for John. I felt guilty, you know, and I said, yeah, I told me, he's like, man, we got to get revenge. And I said, no, no, I said, they just sent me a message, you know, they hit me as if to say, don't come in here. So then a few weeks later, a memorial weekend, we made a plan to go out there and we were going to camp back at the bridge like where I parked the truck and see how far down towards the main river they're willing to come. So then it rained a few days prior to Memorial weekend and we got out there and that area is heavily shaded. So there was
Starting point is 00:39:51 a lot of mud there and I told them, man, I'm not, I'm not going to camp here in the mud. I said, but I said, I can't go in here right now. I'm not ready to go back in there where all this happened. I said, let's turn around. Let's go back down. the main Forest Service Road along the bridge, and let's find some way to get back down onto the water and look for footprints on the sand. So we drove back down this Forest Service Road. And that day on Memorial Weekend, it was Saturday. It was really hot. I remember it was in the mid-80s, mid-to- Upper 80s. And so we drive back down this Forest Service Road, and we find this primitive dirt road that looked like an old road, and it was just kind of overgrown, and it went back
Starting point is 00:40:31 through the trees towards the river. So we drive down there and we're like pushing through branches with this truck, like breaking tree branches. And we come to kind of this clearing about 60 feet wide by about 100 feet long. And there's like this old primitive campsite there. So we get out of the truck and there was like an old fire ring. Look like it had nobody had been there in three, five, maybe five to ten years or something. There was like an old like cookstow, like a camit, Coleman cookstow that was kind of rusted in there.
Starting point is 00:41:00 There was a lantern, an old lantern there, and there was like weeds all grown up around it, and there was like an old tent that was all weathered and holes in it and faded. And there was an old stack of cord, it looked like somebody abandoned their camping equipment. And so we parked there, and there was this trail. We could tell it was kind of overgrown. It looked like it cut back towards the woods, towards the river. So we put our backpacks on, and I got our cameras going, and put our sidearms on, and we walked back through this trail.
Starting point is 00:41:30 and it goes about 125 yards and it's kind of winding up and down these kind of small slopes. And we end up right on these sandbars on the rivers. Then we walk the river on these sandbars for a few hours and we found some tracks. And so we come back and we hike back through and we get to the truck. And by then it was like 5 o'clock and I was kind of beaten. I told my buddy, I said, let's just camp here, man. I said we're like miles, you know, five miles from the original siding area and the other activity. Let's just camp here, man.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Nothing will happen, you know. So we set our tents up, and we, my buddy brought a portable gas grill, and we cooked some steaks and baked beans, and then we had some potato salad. And then we cleaned up in a, um, we both of us forgot to bring a camping chair, so we were sitting in his pickup truck. And it was like, I don't know, it was still a light out. It doesn't get dark until after 10 o'clock that late in May. And so it's just sweltering hot, you know, it's like, we're like,
Starting point is 00:42:28 that we worked all night, Friday night. Now we're up all day Saturday, and we're like nod and off. And about 745, we hear in the tree line out to our left. We hear a whoop. And then directly behind us in the trees, an immediate response, another whoop. And then another response to our right in the trees, another whoop. And it was like this triangular, like they were surrounding us. And look at my buddy.
Starting point is 00:42:51 He said, man, I can't do this, dude. I said, do you hear that? And he goes, yeah, I heard it. And I said, I can't do this tonight. I said, I can't do it. I said, I don't want to be here. And he goes, man, he goes, don't worry. He goes, maybe it's just a coincidence.
Starting point is 00:43:04 Maybe we're just going to watch from a distance. And I was just, after what had happened, I was just, I wasn't ready for it, you know. And so it was just after 8 o'clock and we're both, we had both been up for like 30 hours at that point. And we're like nodding our head off, you know, in the truck, like going to sleep. And we both, I said, I'm just going to hit my tent. I said, maybe I'll just so tired, I'll just sleep through anything that happened. So my tent was like two feet. from his right rear wheel on his truck.
Starting point is 00:43:35 There was like two feet space. Then he was further away about six feet. So I climb in my tent. He climbs in his and I'm only in my tent, maybe three minutes. I'm laying on top of the sleeping bag because it's so hot out and I hear this thump on my tent. I'm like, what's that? And I hear another thump.
Starting point is 00:43:51 But this time I see this indentation hit my tent. And I thought, man, they're throwing rocks. So I called out to my buddy. I said, Doug, they're throwing rocks. He goes, yeah, I know. He goes, one, and my buddy had what he did, he left the screen off of his, the rainfall off of his tent. So he just had the screen above him. And he goes, yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:44:08 He goes, one just hit the screen above me. And I said, I can't do this, man. I can't, I can't do it. I can't do it. And he goes, well, he goes, just go to sleep. Man, so within 15 minutes, he's snoring away. And I'm laying there, and I'm just like freaked out of my mind. And they continue to see, they're throwing rocks.
Starting point is 00:44:28 So they just hit in my tent. Thump. Thump, thump, thump, thump. And then, maybe after 9 o'clock, I heard this weird thumping noise, and it wasn't rocks thrown at my tent. It was, I couldn't explain it, but it sounded like it was just, like, right outside our tent, like, right at the tree line. Like, if I had stuck my head out, I could have saw them. And it was coming from all sides of us, like three or four sides of the campsite. It was this thumping noise.
Starting point is 00:44:53 And I thought, I went, when I went home after this, I thought, what was it? I got online. And originally I thought it was they were pounding their feet on the ground. But then I talked to some other people, and they had suggested maybe they were pounding their chest. And I kind of think that now. First, I thought it was them pounding their feet and intimidation, but then it sounded more of not feet to ground. It sounded more of fist to chest. It was boom, boom, boom.
Starting point is 00:45:19 And it was coming from all sides of us. Boom, boom, boom. And they were trying to intimidate us. Well, that went on for a while. And then they continued with the rock throwing. And then it got quiet, and then it got dark. And at that point, I'm just freaked out of my mind. And I remember when this happened, I looked at my watch, it said 1032.
Starting point is 00:45:39 But at 1032 right next to our campsite, I hear this tree. It's all come when they pushed a tree over. I'm just like freaked out of my mind. You know, I'm laying on top of my sleeping bag. I have the backpack in my tent. I have my hiking boots off. I have two handguns in there. I have a Smith & Wesson, 500, which,
Starting point is 00:46:00 is a 50 caliber, and I have an FNX 45. And the Smith & Wesson holds five rounds, and the 45 I had four magazine, each holds 15 rounds. But I don't like to shoot the 500 because it's pretty powerful. It's kind of a, it's really, it's not a fun shoot. It's pretty painful. So I'm laying there, and I'm just freaked out of my mind. I'm, you know, I'm so dead tired and scared. I'm just shivering, you know, like a scared puppy in there.
Starting point is 00:46:29 I mean, I was literally shaking. you know, thinking, you know, what's going to happen? Well, then after the tree pushover, got quiet for a little while. And then about midnight, I looked at my watch when I heard this, when a woman has like these long fingernails and she touches maybe the hood of the car, you can hear like a tap. Well, it was like dead silent out there. And I'm right next to the pickup truck.
Starting point is 00:46:48 I hear like this truck. It was like fingernails maybe. And I hear it tapped it three or four times. And I hear something slowly moved between my tent and the truck. And it's only like two feet of space there. So it's literally like inches from me When I'm in the tent And walks past my tent
Starting point is 00:47:06 And I can hear it walking through the campsite And I think at that point They got one of them Obviously came in to get a closer checkout and check us out And so then It left, I didn't hear anything And a little while later, maybe 15 minutes later I hear these footsteps come running towards my tent
Starting point is 00:47:24 Like it's charging my tent Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom! And it gets right to my tent stops and I'm like, in my tent, you know, I'm shaking. You know, I mean, I got, I picked up my 45 and I had the safety off and I had the hammer back. And I'm like freaking out of my mind and I hear this, you know, when you grab the most blue tarps, it's like plastic and you squeeze it, it makes like a crinkling noise. Well, your, your tent has made a nylon, but you have like a waterproof tub in the bottom of your tent that's made of that, like, tart material. So I'm hearing this, it's like, quish, quash, this crinkling noise.
Starting point is 00:48:01 like, man, what, what is that? You know? And I'm laying on my sleeping bag and I could feel the floor of my tent slowly being pulled underneath me a little bit. And so I'm like, ah, what's, what's, they're going to pick my tent up and drag it away. So I had a headlamp on, and I turned my headlamp on, and my tent was this octagon shaped camouflage tent. And it says the three-man tent, but, I mean, maybe two people could fit in there. But each octagon side is maybe two to two and a half feet long.
Starting point is 00:48:29 And where my feet are at, on that end, I turned my headlap on. I thought when I turned my headlap on, it'll stop. Well, they didn't stop. I could see something grabbing the bottom of my tent, and I could see these knuckles, these hands are like twice as big as mine. I can see these knuckles pushing in on the nylon. That's all, and then it ran off. It was all boom, boom, boom, boom, ten minutes later, again, charge my tent.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Boom, boom, bu, blah, ba, ba, boom, and run towards my tent. Stop and do the same thing. you know, every second of that night seemed like a minute, and every minute seemed like an hour. I laid in my tent. You know, sometimes they'd run off and they'd be gone for maybe 10 or 15 minutes, sometimes a few minutes. And a few points I did maybe nod off because I was so tired,
Starting point is 00:49:19 but, you know, when you're dreaming and you're, like, dream, you're falling, and you're like, jerk and, you know, like, what's going on? So every time I dozed off for five minute or ten minutes, I wake up, like, scared, like, what's going on, you know? And maybe I felt three or four times throughout the night, But it went on the entire night. So at one point, I'm sitting there on my butt, and they're doing it again. I have my headlap on it.
Starting point is 00:49:40 I'm saying to them, I'm thinking, okay, I'm going to say I'm going to speak out because I was trying to be dead silent without them being able to hear me in there. And I speak out, and I'm like, leave me alone, leave me alone, just go away, leave me alone, leave me alone. I mean, I was freaked out. I mean, I felt like just this little scared kid, you know. And that went on until about 4.15 in the morning, and then it stopped. The light, I could just barely see light coming up.
Starting point is 00:50:03 my tent and I'm laying in there just waiting. I thought, you know, you know, so I'm at about five o'clock. I hear my buddy rustling around. I hear the zipper on his tent open up and I said, hey, Doug, you're up? He goes, yeah. And I said, you're out of your tent? He goes, yeah. I said, do you see anything? He said, no. So I put my hiking boots on and I put my Smith & Westin'L500 in my backpack and I grabbed my 45 and I said, hey, unlock your truck. He unlocked his truck and I got in and I locked the door. Well, I grabbed my back and I, Back in my gun, and I got in, and I locked the door. And he comes over and goes, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:50:37 I said, I want to leave now. I want to go right now. I want to leave now. And he's, what's going on? I said, you don't know what went on? At one point, he did call out to me in the middle of night, maybe around 2 o'clock at the morning. He had called out to me.
Starting point is 00:50:50 He said, hey, Mark, are you awake? And I said, yeah, I said, I've been awake all night. He goes, they're in the camp site. He goes, one, just walked past me. I felt the vibration on the ground. And I said, dude, they've been in the camp all night. You slept through 99% of it. I said, I haven't hardly slept at all.
Starting point is 00:51:03 I haven't slept, you know. And then he fell back asleep, you know, 30 minutes later. But, you know, in the morning I was just like, I want to go. I want to leave you. Don't you want your tent. I said, no, I don't want to leave it. And he grabbed his tent and sleeping back real fast and threw it in the back of his truck. And we got out of there.
Starting point is 00:51:17 I said, I'm done, man. I'm not doing it anymore. I'm done. I'm done. I had enough. So they'd screwed him the entire night. It was the worst night of my life. I thought we were done for, dude.
Starting point is 00:51:27 I said, I'm done. But I still wasn't done. I've been out there. I've been out there a half dozen times since. Yeah, no, it's kind of an adrenaline rush, and it's interesting to your friend Doug, who grew up in Oregon, grew up hunting and had never seen anything, and now he goes up there all the time with you. He obviously knows there's something to it when he goes up there with you.
Starting point is 00:51:53 How often do you guys go up there? We went up there every weekend the month of September. The last time we were out there was three weeks. weeks ago today, we spent, we camped out over there, but I went to that international Bigfoot conference in Kennewick on, what was that, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then we were out there on Labor Day weekend that Monday. We were out there just for the day, walking the riverbanks, and we got some print, a print, and then we were out there three weeks ago and overnighted in a different spot, but this time we slept in his truck, and it was in a completely different
Starting point is 00:52:35 part of the valley miles from any of this other activity and we got some samurai chatter and we got some whooping on audio and we got a footprint and essentially the footprint it's in like thick moss a photo of it and how long ago did your encounter happen your first encounter the that was on September 13th 2015 so it's only been a year and we've been out there dozens of and dozens of times. I mean, sometimes we'll go out there like every Saturday and Sunday for four or five weeks, and then we might take two or three weeks off. And then we'll go out there every Saturday and Sunday for, you know, three or four weeks
Starting point is 00:53:18 again and then take a couple weeks off. Do you ever go out there and nothing really happens? Yeah, yeah, we've been out there and nothing happens. Yeah, yeah, of course. I mean, not every time we go out there does something happen. I think there's been some stuff that we've gone out there, and we didn't pay much attention to, like, here's one thing that we just started noticing. I've seen them before, but I didn't pay much attention to them.
Starting point is 00:53:43 As we've been finding sticks shoved into the ground, like something broke a tree branch off and then stripped it of all the smaller branches and takes like a four-foot-long, like a three-inch diameter branch and shoves it in the ground six or eight inches. And I never paid much attention to that until I found on an island out there. the middle of the river, a Forrested Island, and we found six of them in a row in a straight line about three feet apart. And they were about two and a half to three inches in diameter, about four feet long, and they were all shoved into the ground six to eight inches, and they were in a straight line. And we could not, I can't figure out what it is.
Starting point is 00:54:25 I had a researcher in Oklahoma tell me the same thing, and he told me this off the air, so it's never been on the air, but he said he keeps finding these sticks, to five feet long, three to four inches in diameter, stripped of everything, and they're shoved into the ground. And he said the areas he goes isn't areas normally people go. It's in the middle of nowhere. And he keeps finding these. And he couldn't figure out what they were doing or why someone, even if it was a person, why someone would do that, or if it's a Sasquatch doing it, why they're doing it. But I have had another researcher tell me that off the air. Yeah. Yeah, I've seen them before I'd never paid much attention to him until I found those ones on the island
Starting point is 00:55:05 shoved in the ground and the only reason we even went out to those islands is a researcher named Rick Knoll. I don't know if you know he is. He had came, what he was involved in the Skookum cast. He lives near me and he came over and I showed him a bunch of my video and audio and he was kind of amazing and told me that him and his research partner believe that these islands in the middle of the river are used as nurseries for females and they're young where the females can leave the young out there and then we cross the river off the island into the woods get food and come back where the young might be safe. You know, they're water locked, you know, they're locked in on the island, you know.
Starting point is 00:55:51 And some of these islands, you know, this one island we were on where we found those sticks shoved in. It's probably 40 yards wide and probably 125 yards. along and it's surrounded by water you know and uh we had walked out there uh
Starting point is 00:56:08 you know the water was probably a foot deep you know on one side of it it was kind of a shallow slower slower running part of the river we were able to get out on there but but uh we found some other stuff too that's kind of interesting is uh I didn't pay much attention to it the first
Starting point is 00:56:24 few times I saw it but now I'm seeing it more okay we find a lot of footprints on these sand bars on the edge of the river that looks like they're coming right out of the water. Like the footprints come right out of the water and walk up the beach. Well, what I've been finding lately is, like, if you were to, like, drag a broom across the sand and cover your tracks, you know, what I'm finding is is somebody or Bigfoot, and I don't know who it is, could be, I don't think it's another researcher because there's no other human tracks out there near these, where I'm finding these, something is taking a tree branch. and as it walks out of the river is dragging it behind it
Starting point is 00:57:04 covering its tracks and I found like three of those in different areas along the river that's interesting that's really interesting I don't you know we come across them and there's no
Starting point is 00:57:18 boot tracks or human tracks anywhere around them anywhere so it's not I can't explain it it comes directly out of the water like one of them comes directly out of the water
Starting point is 00:57:30 goes up a slight bank and then walks across the sand and there's a fallen tree, but under the fallen tree, there's like a four-foot hole and then goes under the hole and then as soon as it hits the tree line on the other side, the dragging stops. As soon as it hits all the heavy brush and moss, it stops as if like they're trying to hide their tracks. Yeah, that's interesting. You know, I can't explain it. I just, I mean, I don't think it's a human doing it because some parts of those river, the river's moving pretty quick, and it looks like it's kind of, you know, four or five feet deep, you know?
Starting point is 00:58:06 Yeah, that's really interesting. I wanted to ask you, what is your ultimate goal with going out there? What are you hoping to accomplish? You know, I realize it's kind of a, you know, sometimes being an adrenaline junkie, you sound like one, and I mean that in a respectful way. But beyond that, what is it that you are hoping to accomplish? I know you've had a lot of experiences out into this area, probably more than most people, but it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:58:31 I mean, you do have some very interesting evidence from this area. You do have some very compelling evidence, just beyond the stories. Some of the pictures you've taken, some of the, I haven't seen any of the videos, but some of the pictures and still frames you sent me. I'd be real curious to hear the audio from David Ellis. I'd love to hear the audio that you captured. But what are you hoping to accomplish by going out here? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:58:58 I don't know. I mean, I've been freaked out of my... I went out there where I swore I was never going back, but then a week or two later I'd back out there. I can't explain it. It's just maybe I want answers maybe or I don't see making any money off of it. I mean, I don't know how I would, you know, a bunch of my own money into it and audio and video equipment in time.
Starting point is 00:59:26 I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours out there. I don't know. It's kind of this obsessive thing. You know, I mean, maybe when I actually, you know, like that we camped out there if I'd gotten out of my tent, and came face to face with four or five or six of them that were seven and eight nine foot tall maybe you know i probably would never go back out there again but uh i i just can't explain it i i don't i don't know i don't know what i want i guess i want answers and i guess i want some solid video proof you know i have some pretty good video
Starting point is 01:00:00 proof like i sent you some frame shots uh but i want better stuff you know no i get it and it wasn't a trick question I was just curious. You know, I understand the obsession, and I think most people have had an encounter, can definitely understand the obsession with wanting answers, wanting to know what are these things. One of the last questions I want to ask you is, what do you think these things are, in your opinion?
Starting point is 01:00:26 And again, it's not a trick question. There's no right or wrong answer. You know, I'm not really sure. Like I said, the first one I saw it had a lot more human look to it, and maybe that's just because it didn't have any hair on the face, face and the skin color was a brownish color. Then the other ones I've seen were the, and I did see another one out there, both of us did from about a fallen tree on a hillside.
Starting point is 01:00:57 It was period as we saw the head bobbing up and down, but it had black hair and gray skin on the face too, but I'm not really sure. I've heard you guys talk about four different types. I'm not really sure about those different types. Maybe there's some kind of relic hominid or something. I don't see them being ape-ish. You know, it's like some people think they're giganticithous. I think they're more towards the human end of it than the ape-end of it.
Starting point is 01:01:25 But I'm real curious to find out about the four different types. You know, I'm not really sure about that. It's interesting when he start really talking to people about what they saw. It's never really the same in the face. The general overview of the face is the same, but people will say it had more of a chimp look to it or the facial structure was more chimp-like or more pug-like and then you talk to other people and they'll say well no
Starting point is 01:01:51 I would say more ape-like but it did have a human nose and then you talk to some people and they're like hey this thing looked like a human just with the big hairy body the rest of it looked like human in the face like it was telling you the forester worker I know that just had an encounter out there he said it he reminded him of an old man he said it had gray silver hair and it was huge, and it reminded him of just like an old man, an old broken-down man, but the thing was built like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Starting point is 01:02:19 I mean, it's huge, and so it's interesting to get people's different takes on it. Yeah, definitely the first one I saw had a more human look than the other ones. Like I said, the other ones, I don't know if it was just because they were black and had gray skin or what. But, yeah, the first one, there was no hair on the face. And like I told you, it looked like a good old man. It's really, really, really strange. And I never even smelled anything. I didn't smell any odors.
Starting point is 01:02:53 I went out there with that retired fishing game wildlife veterinarian in mid-July. And he's a big game camera guy. And we've kind of become friends. And I've given him, you know, told him where activities gone at because I know he's not going to tell anybody. But he likes to hang game cameras. and he wanted to go out there on a weekend, and he wanted to go and he wanted to overnight,
Starting point is 01:03:13 and he couldn't get anybody to go, and he asked me if I would go, and I said, yeah, I'll go with you. I said, I don't believe in game cameras, but, you know, I'll go along. I'm not going on. So he went out there and hung these 10 game cameras, and we were trying, it was mid-July,
Starting point is 01:03:27 and we were trying to find a place to lay our head for the night. We went to a regular pay, where he paid camp there, and it was full, so then we drove further in, and we found this area off the side of the road where it was kind of a wide opening, and there was some people in there with a tent at one end of it, and we camped it, another end of it, about 125 yards away. And it was about eight, you know, I had worked all night, Friday night,
Starting point is 01:03:51 and now I was up all day Saturday with him. So on 8 o'clock, I told him, I said, hey, man, he wanted to sit by the fire and talk. I said, man, I'm like, beat, I've got to go to bed. So at 8 o'clock I turned in, and I woke up just because I'm used to only sleeping in about 5 or 6 hours. I woke up about 1.45, and I was letting us laying in there. looked at my watch and I, it's pretty quiet out there. I thought I heard something walking around my tent and I was just like, you know, I didn't really think much of it. And then I heard like a little,
Starting point is 01:04:23 like a little, like a little, like a little, like a little, like, uh, something stepped on something and broke it. And so I'm laying there listening and, uh, after about 15 minutes, like I could hear it was walking around my tent like three times. And then I smelt this strange odor. I never smelled anything like it in my life. It smelled like... And then it got really strong. It was like almost in my eyes water. It smelled like rotten meat and feces.
Starting point is 01:04:50 And I just laid there in my... I turned my headlap on, and I didn't hear anything after that. And then I eventually went to sleep a few hours later and woke up in the morning. But I never smell... I can't say what it was. I'm not sure what it was. What the walking around my tent was and what the smell was. but the smell was overwhelming.
Starting point is 01:05:11 Maybe it was a big foot. I don't know. Be careful when you're out there. The other thing is if you can get a thermal camera, and a lot of them do record, if you sit inside of a tent, it'll see through the tent. It'll see through like it's not there. Yeah, if you get a good thermal camera,
Starting point is 01:05:31 not even a good one. If you get a cheap one, the better ones when they record, they record more detail, but you can get a cheaper one, and you can actually sit inside of a tent, record, and it'll see through that tent like it's not even there. Okay. Yeah, that sounds good. I'll get some money together and get one, but, yeah,
Starting point is 01:05:50 so we're probably, yeah, we might go out there next weekend if the weather's good, you know, it just depends. Well, keep us up to date, and I appreciate you coming on, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no problem. Yeah, I'll come on again if you want, you know, and tell you more stuff happens. in the future. Yeah, no, I plan on having me back on, and I appreciate it very much.
Starting point is 01:06:12 Yeah, no problem. Thank you. And that's it for tonight, everyone. Remember, if you've had an encounter, shoot me an email. Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com.
