Sasquatch Chronicles - SC EP:930 The Creature At My Uncles Cabin

Episode Date: February 25, 2023

Kevin writes "To give a little more detail I had went up to my uncles log cabin on North Pond in Woodstock ME. We were up there using his place to go snowboarding at Sunday River Ski Resort about 20-2...5 minute car ride away. My uncles place is on a dirt backroad and situated about 100 yards up from the pond. It was snowing for most of the weekend and the first night there we had lit off some fireworks out front of the house and towards the end of one of the fire works we heard a loud scream like noise. We paused before continuing and looked around like what the hell was that but decided it must have just been a weird sounding firework. As soon as the next one went off we heard a much deeper and guttural roar that lasted about the length of the last four shots of an XL Roman candle. Now right across from the driveway which is perpendicular to the road my uncle lives on is a large cliff like slope that runs up about 35 feet almost straight up. At the top there are more trees and this was the direction it had came from and the direction we were shooting toward. Next thing ya know and enormous log from a birch tree comes hurling down over our heads and into the driveway followed by another roar. It wasn't more than 5 seconds before we were back inside doors locked and freaking out. We had been drinking some and we were arguing over whether it was noise from the fireworks, from a bear, whether the weight of snow snapped a tree limb. I mean we were thinking of everything. The rest of the night we wouldn't even look outside but that was it nothing else. Fast forward to the next day we woke up at first light and went snowboarding all day. We returned around 4 pm and went inside to shower up and go back to the mountain to watch the patriots afc championship game at one of the mountain lodge bars. When we walked outside to leave, behind my friends jeep was the same log thrown at us the previous night, laid perfectly straight across the driveway behind the jeep! At this point we all thought one of the others were messing with us while getting ready but no one owned up to it. We moved the log and drove to the mountain. After watching the game we drove back to my uncles. Upon arriving me and my friend who also smoked stayed outside to have a cigarette before going in. While out front on the stairs we heard what we thought were footsteps, like crunching snow and then the flood lights over the garage would set off and it would stop abruptly. We couldn't see anything although these lights were pretty strong. It was a very eerie feeling being out front and uneasy for us both. We finished and went inside. Now my uncles cabin was custom built, a beautiful home and custom picked out wood that was shipped out and hand picked from a catalog where they literally let you choose pre designed or custom features then come to your land and build it for you. After about ten years my uncle started spending more time up there so he built a two story garage to the right of the house and expanded the driveway. Now the lower level held his snowmobiles and a snow blower, lawn mower, etc. upstairs was a fully furnished game room with a bar a bathroom, wood stove, a futon, dart board, and a tournament style pool table. This is where we spent most time just hanging out up there. We would drink play pool watch tv and then one person had a bed to sleep in up there. To get to the garage he also built a breezeway that connected the main cabin to the garage. It was like a hallway/mud room. On both sides were large pane windows so on one side you can see the lake through the trees on one side down hill a bit and the front driveway on the other. We had sent my friend to the main cabin to get more beers at one point in the night and he said when walking back to the garage the moonlight was shining off the ice from the lake and reflecting through the trees. That's when he said he saw it. At first he thought it was just another tree because it was back lit but it then put an arm which he thought was a branch down by its side. With an armful of beers he scrambled to open the door to the stairs for the game room, dropping and breaking multiple bottles and came up white as a ghost. Me being pissed off he was trashing my uncles place starts to yell at him and he just sat down silent staring blankly off into space. While asking what the hell was going on it was like he snapped out of it and as fast as he could pulled the blinds down on the back windows while almost closing his eyes as if scared to look outside. We got his story and it was hard to believe at first and being 25 at the time we were of course breaking his chops. But then for the remainder of the night it sounded as if someone or something was circling the house. We didn't hear this until we went to bed and the radio, tv etc were all turned off. We heard some other weird noises almost like a train whistle but there were no trains I knew of in that area. We had 2 or 3 days left in the weekend to go and the next morning we packed up, shut off the water to the house and rented a hotel room at the snow cap inn at Sunday river. I had no clue what to think of all this for years until hearing some of your shows and it makes me wonder what else you might've heard from this area or what you might think it is.""To give a little more detail I had went up to my uncles log cabin on North Pond in Woodstock ME. Starting point is 00:00:00 It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up and that shocked me. They don't make people that that big. The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything moves like that in my life. They were screaming at each other in gibberish. It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards.
Starting point is 00:00:54 I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw were bears. What are you reporting? Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? That's son of a bitch is about six. Bitch is about six foot nine, I don't know. Do you see a bouncer? Yes, I'm looking right in.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Uh-uh. This is Boston Billy. You're listening to Sasquatch Chronicles. Let's go, baby. Welcome to the show, everyone. Thanks for being here tonight. Got a great show plan for you. We're going to be chatting with Kevin.
Starting point is 00:02:17 And Kevin comes to us from Maine. And back in 2019, him and a bunch of his buddies went up there to his uncle's vacation cabin to hang out. they were going to snowboard and just kind of enjoy the time that they were up there. And things went south when they were up there. I'll like Kevin go into what took place and what happened at this cabin. And the strange part is his uncle knew this creature was around this area and it had seen it on a few occasions. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email.
Starting point is 00:02:56 My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com. And if you get a chance, check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com, you can become a member and get additional shows. Let's jump into it tonight. I want to welcome Kevin to the show. Kevin, thanks for coming on. Hey, Wes, thank you for having me, Ed. Yeah, thank you for being here. And, you know, this whole situation with you guys going up there to this cabin,
Starting point is 00:03:26 If you would, just kind of start from the very beginning. What were you guys doing and walk me into what happened? Sure. So I was born in Boston. I've lived in Boston still to this day, mainly all my life. I'm just about 31 years old. And essentially, you know, I learned to ski or first ski and then eventually snowboard, you know, starting around age 10.
Starting point is 00:03:58 I had always been up in the mountains. I grew up in a suburban town, so I've had experience in the woods and stuff like that. I'm not any sort of hunter. You know, I've never shot a gun in my life. I've been camping, not necessarily so much, so I wouldn't call myself like an avid outdoorsman, but the one thing that really gets me outdoors the most is probably snowboarding. So my uncle, on my mom, other side. My uncle Timmy, he has a house that's, or not so much a house, a cabin that's up in
Starting point is 00:04:34 Maine. It's about, I want to say, 20 to 25 minutes east of Sunday River. So Sunday River is, I think it's a Newery, Newry, May. It's on the western side of Maine. It's like right about the middle of the state. It's one of the biggest mountains up there. It has seven Peaks. Great place to go skiing. So essentially the way that all this started was he gave me permission to use the cabin. And that was for a weekend. I want to say it was like the third week. So January, I looked back, like I said, I know we were talking earlier. And I looked back. I actually have some saved videos from that weekend. It was January 19th when we went up. I had called up three of my friends.
Starting point is 00:05:27 I said, hey, do you want to use my uncle's cabin? You know, a lot of them, avid skiers, snowboarders. And so four of us had decided to take a trip, take off work on Friday, head up. And, yeah, we headed up there. It's about a three-hour drive from where we live around Boston. So we left at about 1 o'clock in the afternoon somewhere around there and got up. maybe around 536, we made some stops and things like that along the way. But that was essentially, you know, where this whole thing sets up and while we were up there in the first place.
Starting point is 00:06:10 If you would, walk me into that first day, you know, of what you guys were doing and what happened to you guys that night. Sure. We were dropping up and fireworks aren't. allowed in that aren't legal in Massachusetts. So on the way up, throughout our stops, you know, we're stopping at little places to get food, take bathroom breaks, whatever it might be. And there was a spot with a bunch of fireworks. So we had bought, you know, I don't know, probably 200 bucks worth. And we're driving up to the cabin. We get up there. It's probably around 6.30, like 6 o'clock, 630, and, you know, we go inside, we unpack all of our stuff,
Starting point is 00:07:01 everyone's picking where they're going to sleep. And of course, you know, there's no ski to be done today. And this, like I mentioned before, we're about like 20 to 25 minutes away from the mountain. And this spot where my uncle has his cabin, it is in the middle of absolutely nowhere. So you get off of 95, which is, I mean, 95 runs all the way down from Maine, all the way down into Florida. And we get off and then we're on back roads for a while. And when you turn into this area where my uncle lives, he lives right on a pond. So you turn left onto the street. And it's a straight dirt road.
Starting point is 00:07:48 and it goes from gravel to dirt and then you're driving down the road there's this very I think it's eerie I mean if you don't really pay attention to it or if you know something like this like my sister's been up there I haven't told my sister the story
Starting point is 00:08:05 but she doesn't find it to be like this but there's this very eerie sort of like looks like an abandoned old barn or whatever it might be on the right hand side and you go through this set of trees where it's like the trees are all overhanging when you're driving down this road. You cut left and you come up along the pond, which is on your right hand side.
Starting point is 00:08:33 So you get down to his house and it's a single road. I don't know how much further. I've never been down on the end of the road, but I know it's a dead end. It runs basically the whole length of the pond. and you pull into his house and the house is on the right-hand side so the driveway is essentially perpendicular to the one single road that it's off of. Pull in and he has a little bit of a clearing,
Starting point is 00:09:00 you know, cut out for where the house is, but it's, the tree line's pretty close around the entire property. I would say maybe 15 yards out from every single point of the house. and it's a large log cabin custom built on the left-hand side and then on the right-hand side there's they added it on I think about 15 or 20 years after it's a two-story garage so there's you know the first floor it's enough to fit probably two cars in they don't put cars in there they have like snowmobiles
Starting point is 00:09:38 snowblower lawnmower things like that little toys and tools and things in that nature. And then above, they have a finished second floor, and it's like a game room. And then in between that and the main house, where most of the bedrooms are, there's like a breezeway. So it's a nice little spot. Behind the house, it's probably 100 yards, I would say,
Starting point is 00:10:05 if I had to guess, and it goes straight down to the lake. Now, there's a lot of thick brown. brush and foliage. I mean, stuff that it doesn't really necessarily go past like the average person's
Starting point is 00:10:23 these. But once you get lower and lower towards the actual lake, it kind of gets swampy. So they actually had, it's like a walkway. I don't know how to describe it.
Starting point is 00:10:37 It's almost like a dock. Like if you were walking on a dock out to a lake, but it's just over dry land. And it snakes all the way down to the water, which then turns into an actual dock like over the lake, over the water. And that's probably, like I said, the water line goes maybe 100 yards up to the house. So anyway, we get to the house. Everyone's all excited. It's just starting to get dark out.
Starting point is 00:11:05 And we pack everything into the rooms that we're staying in and, you know, sit down and start. accent. So at this time, I was probably 24, 25. So I can imagine, you know, four young guys all around the same age. We're having fun. We're getting, we're gearing up for a good weekend. And it was supposed to, which not supposed to do, but it was supposed to snow all weekend. So we were like all amped up, getting ready. This is going to be great. We're going to have fresh powder. Anyway, we start cooking up some food, opening up some drinks, having a good time. It gets to, I don't know, around like 11 o'clock, maybe even midnight, and we have all
Starting point is 00:11:58 these fireworks that we brought up. Now, it's already snowing very hard. And like I said, my uncle's house, the driveway is perpendicular. to the road that it's on. So there's not much room to shoot. Now, normally, if it was, you know, in the summertime, I wouldn't be lighting off fireworks here because there's a lot of tree cover. You don't want to, you know, God forbid, light something off and catch something.
Starting point is 00:12:23 But it was snowing out. The trees are covered in snow. So we're like, okay, we're safe, you know. Any embers that, God forbid, light off, they'll be put out by the snow. We start lighting off some of these fireworks in the driveway. and directly across from the driveway is this wall. So if you're driving down the street and the house is on the right, going towards the dead end of the street,
Starting point is 00:12:51 on the left-hand side, when you get maybe 300 yards before my uncle's house and then about probably 150 to 200 yards after, there's this big ridge line. And it goes directly straight up. I'm talking like a very, very serious slope that no person could run up, not really any vegetation on it. It almost looks like it's like a granite slope, but there's a little bit of grass and, you know, some vegetation on it. And we're shooting in that direction because it's, you know, we don't want to shoot at the house. And then we're not going to try to be making it over to the lake.
Starting point is 00:13:36 So we're shooting these fireworks off. It's like the end of one of the first fireworks, one of the first three fireworks that were shooting off toward the very end of the firework because it was one of those ones where I'm assuming that you've, as a kid played with fireworks, they send off multiple rounds, right? And towards the end of it,
Starting point is 00:14:00 we thought we heard what was like a, almost like a scream. but we're setting off these very loud and obnoxious fireworks so we're like and we're also I mean it's midnight we're up in the middle of the woods we're like what the hell we kind of looked around like what the hell was that and we just sort of thought nothing of it so we pause and we're joking around hey you know talking crap to each other this and that and we start lighten off some more my buddy pulls out this, it was like, I'm sure you see like a Roman candle before type firework. And it was a Roman candle. It was called like an XL Roman candle. So just a little
Starting point is 00:14:46 bit bigger than a normal Roman candle. You shoot them out and they project aisle, I don't know, 200 yards in the air and then, oh, they like, you know, they give off like a loud pop. And I think there's like eight rounds in each one. And he's shooting. it off and it gets to like the middle of shooting this this roman candle off so there's like about four rounds left and this i don't i don't even know how to describe it and it gets me i get almost emotional thinking about it because it was this noise that i mean like i said I'm no outdoorsman. I'm not someone that's able to distinct one call from another between animals, but I know I've had enough time outside and I've watched enough info and researched after to know that this is not something that I've ever heard in my life.
Starting point is 00:16:02 something started and in my email I wrote to you I said roar but it was more like a scream and it started halfway through and lasted until the last round came out of the firework which I would approximate to be about at least
Starting point is 00:16:25 seven seconds and it was it varied did pitch. It was ridiculously loud to the point that we were hearing it over our own voices screaming. It was also about, like I mentioned, I don't know how many yards above our head at the top
Starting point is 00:16:46 of this ridge. And just literally like all of our arms dropped to our sides and we were like just astonished. Like what? Just made that noise. And then we kind of looked around at each other. And we were wondering, like, was that? Maybe that was the noise of
Starting point is 00:17:09 one of the last rounds that came out. And it just was like hissing. We had no idea at the time. And to be honest, I don't think any of us were prepared to think of anything to this caliber of a Sasquatch or a Bigfoot or whatever you want to say. Like, it was just so mind-blowing that I think all of us just kind of, we're in that stunned moment and then sort of let it go and looked at each other.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Like in awe, we were like, what the hell was that? It just, it, it's scared and confused the hell out of us. So we're sitting there, you know, that happens. And we're like, okay, whatever. So we take a break. And, you know, we don't light anything off for another, like. four or five minutes and everything's okay where all right you know it like I said it was scary but it wasn't like we were expecting anything or looking for anything so we just attributed it to
Starting point is 00:18:13 all right maybe maybe one of the rounds went off you know into the snow it was just I don't I couldn't tell you what exactly was going through our heads but we we 100% weren't thinking anything unnatural. But it was scary. We start lighting off some more fireworks. And we get to the point
Starting point is 00:18:41 where we're lighting off another one like the same type of aroma candle. That's basically all that we have left. And at the end of that firework going off, it was more towards like maybe the sixth or seventh shot, the same thing happens again.
Starting point is 00:19:03 But this time it is like so much more intense to the point where there's, I mean, they're out in the middle of the woods. There's a single power line that feeds the whole street. And there's literally ice falling off of that, which is 20 feet higher than the line that's in front of us. And you can like feel it reverberating almost through like, through your ears. Like they're like, I don't know how to explain it. But it was it was like deafening.
Starting point is 00:19:45 But it was like a giant scream that happened right at the, towards the end of the last firework that we were lighting off. And it was to the point where it lasted. long enough, it did not end right away. Like the other one sort of ended at the end of the fireworks that we had let off before. This one lasted a lot longer. So we knew that this was not the fireworks. This was something that was in the woods.
Starting point is 00:20:14 It was above our heads, over that ridge line. And as we're sitting there looking at each other, this, I forget how big. It must have been at least four feet long, but it was a piece of a birch tree, one of those white birch trees. And it came hurling out of the woods from above our heads. And this is something that I don't even know. It took to pick it up, I mean, I could have picked it up by myself the next day, but to pick it up, there was me at one. one end in a friend at the other, picking up the ends and moving it after that, like in the morning the next day. But this thing, any, I can't imagine how strong someone would have to be to throw this thing on its own.
Starting point is 00:21:12 And this thing came out of the wood line above our heads, you know, whatever it is, 40 feet up, 50 feet up. and flew over our heads and smashed into the driveway as this thing was still just absolutely, like, screaming. But you could also hear the difference in, like, pitch, like, if you throw something and you're like, ah, and then you try to get rid of some weight, you're like, ah, like that. Like, you could hear the difference in tone or pitch as if you're like, ah, ah, and then you try to get rid of some weight, you're like, ah, like, like, like, you can hear, the difference in tone or pitch as it threw the piece of tree trunk, as crazy as that sounds. And we were inside within five seconds. I mean, we turned around and we split.
Starting point is 00:22:05 We got right inside. I don't even know. I get goosebumps thinking about it because it was just such a panic. and we're trying to make sense of it like maybe that was a bear maybe that was one of the fireworks and it was a delayed fuse like maybe um just trying to think of anything we're like panicking sitting inside it maybe there's because it was snowing this whole time too snowing like I said the whole weekend had been planned for And it wasn't crazy heavy snow, but it had been snowing and they had gotten snowed before that too. So we're thinking, oh, maybe that branch fell. Well, that's the fun. You can't even call it a branch.
Starting point is 00:23:01 We're saying maybe that fell because of the weight of the snow and one of my buddies literally looks at the other one who said that. He goes, buddy, that is not a branch. That was literally the trunk of a tree. and we just we had about a 30 minute powwow where we tried to make sense of it and just couldn't and none of us none of us had thought anything along the lines of this none of us none of us had been privy to any of this none of us had had any exposure to this of course of I've heard of Sasquatch. There's not a single person, I think, in our day and age that doesn't know what
Starting point is 00:23:47 Bigfoot or Sasquatch is, but there's absolutely no way or reason I didn't know about any, like, tree knocking, the odor, any, I've been watching your, your channel for a while. I had no reason to believe that it was this, but we were terrified. Yeah, I bet you guys were terrified. And, you know, they, this sort of behavior gets reported a lot. I experience this down in Texas. And, you know, when you have a log coming out your head, and I mean a large log being thrown in your general direction, there's a moment of shock.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Like, what, you know, and I'm aware of Bigfoot. I can't imagine that you guys who don't really care about Bigfoot are trying to figure out what in the world is going on. I mean, if Bigfoot, if you take Bigfoot out of the equation, it has to be someone out there, you know, messing with you. but it's a big guy up there throwing that log that far across, you know, this ridge line. When you guys get back in the cabin, does anything else happen? No, and that's the weirdest part.
Starting point is 00:24:53 We went inside, and as soon as we went inside, we got all, you know, cozyed up in the cabin, and we're freaked out at this point, and we're shutting the blind. we're trying to make sense of what happened. We went to bed and there was just nothing. For the rest of the night, there is absolutely nothing. And we're trying to basically argue with our own sense of reality and saying to ourselves, you know, this is got to be something that we're looking at the wrong way.
Starting point is 00:25:36 this this this this can't be there's nothing that's and because we're we're thinking like in our minds like they're human through that because who what what animal do we know that's up in the the white mountains or in made the white mountains technically go through new hampshire but what animal is going to be able to to grab something of this this weight this size and toss it that distance so we ended up just sort of sitting by the fire having a few drinks to calm us down and we just went to bed and that was that was it for the first night we nothing else happened basically the way that my uncle's house is spread about there's a bedroom above the garage one of my buddies slept up there I slept on the first floor in the main cabin and then there's two beds upstairs in the main cabin as well that shared bathroom so that my two buddies were up there and yeah, nothing I mean, thank God nothing else happened that night
Starting point is 00:26:46 so we woke up the next morning and I know me and you were talking you know I know that you like to snowboard as well we were trying to get first tracks well to clarify I used to snowboard when I was much younger Now, you know, I go and get the mail and I throw my back out, but I don't snowboard so much anymore.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I hear you, man. Luckily enough, I'm still at the age. Like I mentioned, I might be going this weekend up in Vermont. But yeah, so we woke up early and we were trying to get first tracks. And, you know, we all kind of just try to forget about it. And we were leaving. And we, of course, the night before, we had moved. along, as I mentioned, it took two of us to move it. And we had left, nothing in the morning.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Everything was fine. We left and went snowboarding for the entire day. Had a blast. And we left Sunday River probably around like 4 p.m. I mean, we finished snowboarding, probably at like three. I think the last, I think the last ski lift goes up at like four. Because, I mean, I assume it's like that at West, too. But like I mentioned to you, I've been snowboarding at West. But in January, I mean, you're getting the last glimpses of daylight, especially on mountains where, like, the sun can hide behind peaks around 4 o'clock. So we come home, and our intention was, now this is Saturday, because we went up on Friday.
Starting point is 00:28:33 our intention was to come back, shower up, and my uncle had, I think he had direct TV or something like that, and very outdated TVs and we're like to. I told you on the phone that this was during the weekend of the Patriots playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. And the 2018 going into 2019 season, so the AFC championship. So big game. And of course, you know how us, you know, Bostonians are with the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, you've got to watch the game. So our plan was to watch it.
Starting point is 00:29:17 They have like a number of different bars that are down at the base of the mound at Sunday River. So our plan was to drive over there and watch the game there for the night. And we all shower up. We get home. nothing's there's no problems we get home we shower up we all get dressed and everything and we my buddy who drove up he he was using his dad's um so at the time we all have like regular cars and we knew that there was going to be snow over the weekend so he borrowed his dad's sheep at four-wheel drive you know what I mean and um he gets outside and he noticed that the log
Starting point is 00:29:58 that we had pulled out of the driveway the night before and gotten rid of and put to the side is lined up directly behind his sheep. I mean, I guess you couldn't say that it was directly behind his sheep because the driveway gets narrow at the end so it would really be behind anyone's car, but lined up literally horizontally crossing the driveway. So now we're all looking at each other and we're like, okay, who's the A-hole that did that?
Starting point is 00:30:33 You know what I mean? Someone's messing with. You know what I? We're all pointing figures. No one gives up. No one gives it up. No one's like, ah, ha, ha, that was me. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:30:42 So we're like, all right, someone's messing and they're just, they're going to keep playing this game. So we move it and we leave, we go to the bar. Now, there's a part that I didn't. mentioned to you in my email and I can go over this afterwards because it's a little bit of a diversion. I don't want to stay off topic from this, you know, whole experience. But when we got to the bar, we had been talking about it and someone at the bar overheard us and he had ended up giving us an insane amount of insight on his perspective, which was,
Starting point is 00:31:24 I mean, it's pretty crazy. And like I said, we can go back to that. But we get back to the house after the game. Patriots won. Hurrah, hurrah. You know, we're all pumped up. And we get back late. And, you know, we parked a car.
Starting point is 00:31:44 And we're sitting outside. And my other two buddies walk inside. And me and my old college roommate are sitting outside. and one of the four guys and we're having a cigarette so we're smoking before and you know on the back deck I had put like I had put little solo cups
Starting point is 00:32:03 filled with a little bit of water which was a dumb idea because I ended up just freezing into ice anyway but just to throw your cigarette butts in so we're hanging out out front we're just having a cigarette and we're sitting basically on the front steps
Starting point is 00:32:19 which is on the left side in front of the main cabin and then there's sort of this breezeway that connects the cabin to the garage and like I said the second floor of the garage is where most of us were hanging out it's like a game room
Starting point is 00:32:36 it's got a full pool table it's got a wood stove it's got a bathroom it's got a dartboard and like a pull-out futon it's awesome it's where you would want to be hanging out if you got four guys up there for the weekend hanging out at night so that's where
Starting point is 00:32:58 we're planning on hanging out for the night shooting some pool playing darts etc etc and we're sitting outside we're on the front steps and we both there's a large spotlight that covers the entire driveway and even more so even more so to like the front all like a like into the lawn a little bit. The lawn on the front is not that big. But, and then to the left, there's a tree line that lines the driveway right there. You can see the, you know, all the way up the driveway to the edge of the road. And then you lose the road on both sides of the driveway, just because of the amount
Starting point is 00:33:41 of trees and the tree line that's up there. And you can basically just see that. It's almost like a great cliff face that goes up, that ledge that I was talking about, perpendicular in the driveway and the spotlight's on I mean because we had just pulled in and we haven't got inside yet
Starting point is 00:34:00 to smoke so the spotlight's still on I don't know what the timer's set on but we're sitting out front and we're smoking a cigarette and we just hear like boof like footsteps but it sounds it's not like
Starting point is 00:34:18 in the summertime time, like, if you heard footfalls, it's like crunching, like the crunching of snow. So almost like someone in boots, but like, yeah, so we're automatically assuming that it sounded like, we're assuming that if someone walking down the road. So we're hearing this, but it sounds like a little bit more strange, like spaced out. Like if you heard someone walking, like, boof, boof, boof, it was. well like, boff, like as if, and now that I think about it, I'm thinking about like something that's larger, like a stride.
Starting point is 00:35:01 And the sensor goes off on the garage, but we can still hear this. And the sensor goes off and then all of a sudden as we're smoking a cigarette. Now granted, we're in front of the door, in front of the main entrance to the house, which is set back a little bit. It's not like the house is just completely flat with the door. It's like it goes, it's like an inlet a little bit. So there's no way
Starting point is 00:35:30 that the sensor is going to catch us. I could wave my arms in front of the front door and it wouldn't catch me. It just there's over the ridge line of the roof and everything like there's nothing that would catch me. And the sensor goes off again.
Starting point is 00:35:47 And we're like, what the hell? You know, kind of sit there, and we both kind of went quiet, but the noises stop, the footstep stopped. And we're like, what the hell is that? So we're getting this eerie feeling that, you know, someone's around the corner, someone's watching us. We don't know what it is. We're trying to pin it on animals, without even say anything to each other, but we both just kind of get that feeling like, all right. Let's get inside.
Starting point is 00:36:21 So we snub out the butts and we go inside. Everything was all good, man, for a little bit. That was probably at, I don't know, 11 o'clock, 10.30. Yeah, I think the game started at 6 because it was like a playoff game. And it was usually they start those a little bit earlier. So we left right after the game is over. So it must have been maybe like 10 o'clock. And we go inside.
Starting point is 00:36:54 And we're all hanging out. Like I said, we have that big game room on the right hand side of the house. And we're all up there. And we're playing pool. We're hanging out. We're having a good time. And we send one of my buddies down into the main house. So he's got to go down the stairs from the game room in the garage through the, it's
Starting point is 00:37:21 like a breezeway. It connects the garage to the main house. And it's got big panel windows on both sides. So if you look to the right, if you're walking towards the house, you look to the right, you can see the woods all the way down to the lake. Through the pine trees, you can see the lake in the summertime, easy. Now, obviously, it's the wintertime and there's some snow on the ground but because it's open and it was I don't know if it was a full moon or not I forget but there there must have been light bouncing off the lake and kind of shining up through the trees and then on the left side you can see through the windows all the way to the end of the driveway so he goes through the breezeway into the house gets an arm full of beers so like two beers
Starting point is 00:38:14 for each guy. So he's got like eight of them, you know, and he's holding them against his chest, and he's trying to just make sure he's carrying him through. And he comes back through the breezeway, and this is all from his words. He said he stopped to turn and, I guess, shut off the light, because there was light switches on both sides down the hallway to get, from the cabin to the house, or from the cabin to the garage, and then from the garage on each side.
Starting point is 00:38:51 And he had stopped to shut it, and he looked left. And at this point, you know, he maneuvered all the drinks into his left arm, and he's going to shut it with his right arm. And he looked up. And he said he saw something. And all I know is. is that he opened up the door. That it was a door that opened up.
Starting point is 00:39:22 And then there's a staircase that went, there's another door behind that. And you could go into the garage. But there was a staircase to the left that went straight up into this loft sort of area that we were in. And he flew up those stairs. I mean, he dropped more than half of the drinks that he had in his hands. which of course I have no idea what's going on so I'm pissed I'm like dude you're trashed my uncle's house what what's going on do you know what I'm yelling at it and they're
Starting point is 00:39:55 all like oh party file you know yelling at the kid and he gets upstairs and he sits down and he was just pale white absolutely pale white and he's just staring off like basically in a blank space and where like what's going on hey buddy you know, snap out of it. And before we could basically get an answer out of him, he's like looking to the left of him and he snaps up and with almost like closing his eyes, rips the blinds down from the window that's looking outside. And it took a couple minutes.
Starting point is 00:40:40 It took a while. And we were trying to get something out of him. but essentially he said that when he was walking through that breezeway from the main cabin to the garage, he had turned left to shut off the lights. And essentially it was a very, it was one of those lights where it's like you can have them dimmed. You know what I mean? So it was a very dim light. And he said that he saw what he thought was a tree at first from the way he put it. and he made it seem like it was
Starting point is 00:41:16 you know 13 feet tall which I I think he was just exaggerated but we went out the next day and tried to get an idea like which tree were you looking at and what he had pointed out like the area it seemed like
Starting point is 00:41:32 it was about nine and a half feet he said that he saw it was as if it was hanging its arm around the tree so holding the tree as if you would hold like, you know, your buddy or your wife in a picture with your arm around them like this, but hanging off of it.
Starting point is 00:41:56 So it almost split off like a V. And he was like there was so much distance the way, like how far it went up. And then it had its other arm like bent out and grabbing another branch on another tree. so it almost looked like his arm was a branch. He could only see the silhouette of it because it was backlit because the light from the moon reflecting off the lake, kind of like backlit the whole forest. And all he said was while he was looking at it,
Starting point is 00:42:33 and if it hadn't done this, he was like, I would have never noticed. But he said it slowly just let go on the branch and put its arm down by itself. and he was like, what the hell was that? I mean, trees don't do that. You know what I mean? And he just was staring at it,
Starting point is 00:42:53 and he said he just saw it kind of sort of fixture its posture and sort of like move closer into the tree. And he noticed, I mean, after everything that we had just experienced and talked about, he had noticed that this thing sort of fixed itself more upright against the tree, as in to blend it with it. and that's when he came straight up to stairs. And I mean, I'm telling you, West, I've never seen this kid is, he's a good friend of mine. And I've never seen a single one of my friends or anyone of my family, anyone, really.
Starting point is 00:43:31 I've never seen someone so, like, shocked by what they've tried to explain that they just saw. Like I knew for a fact this kid was not lying about what happened and what he saw at that time. So he gets up and he tells us, you know, what he saw. And as he's like literally pulling down the blinds in the back of the cabin that overlooked the lake. And I don't think if we had looked out the window, I don't think we would have been able to see anything because at that point where another 15 feet above where his head level was. You know what I mean? So we'd be looking down through the trees.
Starting point is 00:44:16 And he said it was, it looked like it was like 40 yards away. So we're sitting there. We're like, okay, what the hell are you talking about? You know what I mean? He's just, he's freaking out.
Starting point is 00:44:31 Now we're kind of freaked out too because, I mean, obviously we've seen some stuff. This is when I really first started believing that we were dealing with something legitimate, that something was out in the woods and it was outside. And we pissed it off with us being there. And I'm assuming that it was us lighting off fireworks, like a bunch of idiots, being loud and just disturbing this preacher's territory.
Starting point is 00:45:02 And we didn't hear anything or see anything else until, I mean, we, we, we, we stayed up for a while because we were pretty messed up about it. And, but we went to bed at like, I don't know, what that happened at like 11, 1130, something like that. We went to bed at like 1, 1.30. We all went to bed and obviously we turned off the TVs. We turned off radios, everything like that. And there was one guy, like I mentioned before, there was like a pullout or like a cot or it was a futon, really. that was above the garage of the second floor.
Starting point is 00:45:41 No one slept in that that night. Like everyone was like, no, we're all staying. And they wouldn't even sleep on the first floor in the cabin because there was windows right next to like every bed where they were positioned. It was a beautiful cabin. I'm talking like custom built all straight long. Like it was a gorgeous place. But everyone was like, no, we can't, I don't want to be near any interest's window. etc.
Starting point is 00:46:10 So we all slept upstairs that night. We were hearing weird noises as if someone had been like stalking the property, like walking around, like crunching of snow, around the house, like circling the house. You know what I mean? It sounded like someone was literally like taking paces
Starting point is 00:46:32 and I don't know what exactly to attribute it to. And then at the very dead of night at probably like 3.30 or like 4 a.m., I heard what I thought was a train whistle. But at the end, it sort of went up and pitch. Like, you know what I mean? It was just, it was a regular, but it was also sort of steady. So I'm like, and I don't know the area that maybe there's a train around there. It could have been maybe something that I'm just attributing,
Starting point is 00:47:13 and my mind could have been playing tricks on me. I know I heard it. But then my other friend, my third friend who was the one that was trying to, like, disbelief all of this the most, thought he heard what he described as one of those sirens that you set off when like a nuclear attack is going to happen in like the 50s. You know what I'm talking about from like a fire station? Like one of those.
Starting point is 00:47:45 He had mentioned like that and I'm like, well, why would that be happening? Unless that happened, why would that be happening at like 4 in the morning? You know what I was like? I heard it, man. I'm telling you. So it's just weird stuff like that, but nothing like no pounding on the house. Like nothing any, nothing that woke us up or. really scared us.
Starting point is 00:48:09 And then the next morning, we got up. We decided that enough was enough. We actually, we had like two more days into the trip. We were supposed to be staying until Monday night. So this is Sunday morning. We packed up our stuff and we got a room at the snow cap inn at Sunday River. We were all set. I mean, going off of what we had experienced, what our friends said he saw, what we saw, it heard, we just, we were like, we're not taking chances, you know what he mean?
Starting point is 00:48:45 We, yeah, we were out by like 7.38 a.m. and we stayed at the mountain for the rest of the weekend. Yeah, I don't blame you guys for leaving. I would have bailed, too, and what a scary trip. I mean, and I know you're kind of new to the subject, but what you'll find, Kevin, what a lot of eyewitnesses report is this type of behavior. And it's strange, because you guys are out there with Roman candles, every animal, whether it's a predator or prey, is going to bail. They're going to run. This thing didn't run. It seems like it pissed it off a little bit. Did you ever talk to your uncle about what happened when you guys were staying at his cabin?
Starting point is 00:49:27 I did and it was very strange man so I don't see him that often I had brought it up to him and he kind of just gave me like a and like nod on his head but then at the same time so my auntie Gwen
Starting point is 00:49:47 his wife she was like oh you saw it you saw it up there because she heard me talking about it we were up at Wells Beach and it made And you saw it? Oh, you saw her while you were up there?
Starting point is 00:50:01 Oh, tell me about it. This and that. And I'm like, so she's excited. He's like, he seems, you know, doesn't want to talk. It was weird. But eventually, I had gotten something out of him where he had mentioned that. And this was like probably two years later. We were at a family party.
Starting point is 00:50:22 And I had, I had, you know, kept. kept i don't like i said i don't see him that much so i think he was getting sick of see me because every time i'd see him i'd ask him about it you know sort of in private i didn't tell my parents about this i didn't i didn't tell basically anyone i didn't tell any of my friends back home the first couple people that i told laughed laughed at me straight to my face so i was like i'm not i'm done trying to explain this um he mentioned that there's one that he thinks is permanent around that area where he lives. He also mentioned that every year throughout the change of the seasons,
Starting point is 00:51:08 they'll see some of them sometimes, not every year for them, but sometimes a lot of the times it's more west towards the Appalachian Trail because he has friends that live in that area and they live, a lot closer to the Appalachian Trail, but he's seeded. There's groups of them, he says, and they think that they migrate back up in the spring and then down in the fall. And he thinks that they go all the way from like above New Brunswick, almost like south of the St. Lawrence River, I think it is, St. Lawrence, like all the way up there.
Starting point is 00:51:49 He thinks that they also stop at Mount Katadin at the end of the Appalachian, but he thinks that they migrate. And there's groups of them, but he said that there's one, and that's the one he thinks that we came across, that is like it's in this vicinity of North Pond. And it's there. It's got like a 30-mile diameter and other people on the area. area have seen it it was a very weird conversation like he did he didn't want to say too much but he didn't want me to think that I was crazy sort of feeling because I told him the whole story and he was almost kind of looking at me with like disappointment like yeah why are you why are you coming up here and lighten off fireworks at 1030 at night you idiot you know what I mean like I don't know
Starting point is 00:52:45 It was a weird conversation, but like I said, my aunt was almost like excited to talk about it. He was kind of like, hey, Gwen, you know, calm down. You know what I mean? It was a strange, it was a strange sort of conversation. Yeah, it's really cool to get confirmation from your uncle and your aunt. I would love to pick your uncle's brain. I have a feeling he probably knows more than what he told you. But, I mean, what?
Starting point is 00:53:14 it's one of these nights to where it's like hell, I don't blame you guys for one bit leaving because I would have left too. And I really think a lot of their behavior is meant to intimidate you. It's meant to make you go away. But I like to ask all the eyewitnesses their impression at the time because, you know, I wasn't there. Do you think your impression, obviously you don't know and I don't know, but do you think it meant you harm or do you think it was just trying to get you guys to move along? I would say more so intimidation. Just from given what I think it could have done, the damage it could have done, I would say intimidation. But who knows, maybe, I mean, we got out of there.
Starting point is 00:54:02 So maybe it was just sort of developing a plan beforehand. And we just, we left at the right time. I hear you. Well, do you talk to your friends that were with you that night? Do you guys still talk about? about what happened? Oh, yeah. And they don't like talking about it at all.
Starting point is 00:54:23 They literally will shun the idea. Well, one of, one of them is, he's, he's all right with talking about it, but two of them are both, they're, they're all set. And they won't go back up there. They, they will, I've asked them to go back up and they will not go back up there, which it's funny. I went back up there two years later. Absolutely nothing happened when I went back up there.
Starting point is 00:54:46 up there. But I've also been told that if you're just, if you keep to yourself, like for my uncle, if you keep to yourself, like, it's nothing's going to happen. It's not like you'll get bothered. But we were bothering it. Yeah, it sounds like it. I mean, with all the noise and the fireworks, I would imagine these creatures don't see fireworks very often in the forest and being late at night was probably out there trying to get food or I'm assuming this is my opinion of course and you guys being so loud just kind of because you know every other animal took off from that area and it probably pissed us thing off you know I ask everyone on the show Kevin and there's no wrong answer what do you think Sasquatch is I think it's it's something
Starting point is 00:55:36 like the lost link it's something that is it's physical I mean, I've heard the portals and orbs and things like that. And I don't necessarily, I'm not shunning anyone's beliefs or anything like that. I just personally don't feel like that's part of it. I think it's something that's physical. But it just, it must have somewhere along the lines of evolution crossed with humans and develop some sort of subspecies that we don't know about. And even for that matter, I mean, I've heard people say that some of them look more ape-like
Starting point is 00:56:22 and some of them look more human-like. And it's like, you know, if you look at anything that you can cross-breed, that have some sort of the same, I'm not, like genus, I guess you would say, I'm not, you know, any sort of anthropologists, but if you could crossbreed a humid and a primate, there's so many sub-substantiraries, I guess, that, you know, you could get to different levels between how intertwined both of those different, I guess, are. and then, you know, space that out the entire continental United States, as well as they say, I mean, people say that it's all over the world. Who knows, man? I guess to answer your question, I think it's physical.
Starting point is 00:57:21 I think it's something that throughout history has somehow cross-bred with what we see as, humans and they're just they're intelligent on a different level and I don't know I don't know the full answer but I think it's something physical and I think it's something that we we're having a hard time tracking down and figuring out exactly you know exactly what it is but it just you can't deny all the eyewitness statements. You know what I mean? It just, it would seem crazy that all these people would be sitting here and lying about something that's so widespread.
Starting point is 00:58:15 You know what I mean? Yeah, I hear you. It's almost more crazy to think all these people are having delusions of seeing this saying. And I understand where you're coming from on that. And, you know, I get, I don't know that I'm with you on the whole. evolution of between a man and a monkey. But I can't wait, why you would say that.
Starting point is 00:58:36 I mean, I understand that point of view. You know, if you ask most eyewitnesses, what is it that you saw? They'll tell you it was somewhere between a man and, you know, a gorilla. And so we kind of have this weird hybrid that people are seeing. It's strange, man. And I can't thank you enough for taking the time to come on and share this experience that you guys had at your uncle's cabin because there's a lot of behavior. to take from what happened to you guys and walk away and kind of put the puzzle pieces together. But thank you so much again for taking the time to come on.
