Episode Date: July 21, 2023

Chase writes "I'm from Southern Indiana. Over the years I've had several strange encounters with some pretty exciting action! The bulk of my encounters occurred over a 5-6 month period in 2021, but ha...ve had occasional encounters prior to that, feel free to reach out if you'd like! Thank you for your time!" Spoke to Chase and growing up his neighbor would let him use his property for fishing and hunting. Chase and his friend found these large human like tracks. He asked the neighbor about it and Chase said "He was an older gentleman and his eyesight wasn't the best and he said that was his friend, if they stay after dark they might see him. Chase thought the guy was talking about a human and wondered why his friend ran around without shoes on. Chase will be discussing recent activity in the area including his sighting.

Starting point is 00:00:03 And I'm laying there listening and it's getting closer and closer. I had probably listened to it for about 10 minutes before it got to where I could hear whatever was walking outside the bedroom window. And I can imitate this sound to a T. It's kind of a high-pitched O with a sharp-up sound. So it's kind of like, whoop, whoop. It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind, and it either heard me or smelt me, and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up, and that shocked me.
Starting point is 00:01:04 They don't make people that big. The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything moved like that in my life. They were screaming at each other in gibberish. It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forward. I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet but what I saw bears. What is what are you reporting? Jesus Christ, you better.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Tarr? Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? That son of a bitch is about six foot nine. Six foot nine, I don't know. Do you see him now, sir? Yes, I'm looking right in. Uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Hi, this is Jules, Lily, and Pearl from San Diego. And you're listening to The Best Podcasts in the Galaxy. Saskatch Chronicles. And it is hot out there. We're burning up on the West Coast. Welcome to the show, everyone. Thanks for being here tonight. Got a great show plan for you.
Starting point is 00:03:05 We'll be chatting with Chase. and Chase comes to us from southern Indiana, and he had a very strange experience on his neighbor's property. It was an older gentleman, and as I say, it wasn't the best. And Chase had found evidence of this creature being there. He didn't know what it, Chase didn't know what it was at the time. But when he asked the old man about it, the old man said, oh, that's my friend.
Starting point is 00:03:28 If you stick around, you can see him. Later in life, Chase and his wife move into his grandmother's home, and a lot of weird things happen there. I'll let Chase go into it. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com. And if you get a chance to check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com, you can become a member and get additional shows. Let's jump into it tonight.
Starting point is 00:03:58 I want to welcome Chase to the show. Chase, thanks for coming on. Oh, yeah, no problem. Yeah, and I know you're out there in southern Indiana, and a lot of weird things happened. If you would, just kind of start from the beginning. I mean, when did you start noticing weird things happening around the property? All right, so I haven't all-sasquatch or Bigfoot, whatever you would like to call it, but I want to say back when I was 12, there was an old man that lived up the road,
Starting point is 00:04:33 and we used to fish in his pond. and the funny thing is he was a blind man, not that that's funny, but it just, it kind of goes into the story here, but whenever I was on the backside of his pond, I was fishing and I happened to look down
Starting point is 00:04:48 and notice footprints in the mud. Well, I had come around after a while and was talking to him, and I asked him, you know, hey, what's up with the bare footprints? And he just kind of chuckled and he told me that that was his friend. And I'm thinking to myself,
Starting point is 00:05:04 you know, why don't your friend wear boots if he's got feet this big? And he just told me that if you would stick around, you know, and fish a little bit into the night, I would get to meet his friend. How big were these human-like prints that you found? I want to say at the time I had always wore like a square-toed work boot, and I had a size 11, and these were a good four or five inches bigger than mine. You know, not that it would be unheard of for, somebody to have a foot that big, but it was just odd that in the middle of nowhere, and when I say
Starting point is 00:05:42 the middle of nowhere here in Indiana, it's rural, but when I say rural, it's not wilderness by any stretch of imagination. There's houses scattered about. So at first, I just thought, you know, okay, maybe it's his neighbor or something comes over and fishes in his pond, and I just didn't want to wear his shoes. But with him being blind, he just always says, that it was his friend. And he was an older man, and I'm assuming that he had probably had some strange occurrences himself being out there with heightened senses. That's kind of where it started. And that's what first posed the idea of something strange being in my head. But if you would fast forward a little bit to about probably two years later, I have a friend that he's kind of skeptical
Starting point is 00:06:33 on the subject and he wouldn't want to be named or anything. So I'll just call him my friend. Well, we was fishing, and this is probably only about three miles from where I've seen these footprints. And we're fishing on this little creek. And it's late in the evening. And we didn't have a fire or nothing going because we was just kids. You know, we didn't want to end up catching the woods on fire and then, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:55 happened to deal with something like that. But we're just fishing and, you know, you weren't getting no bites or nothing. and just this humongous splash had hit the bank right in front of us. So I kind of flip on a light real quick, like what in the world was that? And this creek is called Sand Creek. And it, you know, it gets its name because there's just a lot of sand in it and on its banks. There's rock beds and gravel beds, but there's not a ton of just big creek rocks around. And this particular spot that we used at was a sandbar.
Starting point is 00:07:28 So if there had been a rock there, we would have known it. and I shun the light at the water thinking I'd see a beaver or something and there's this rock and it's actually I picked it up and brought it home and it's actually in my fire pit currently but this rock I want to say it's about the size of a paper plate maybe a little bit more oblong than it is round
Starting point is 00:07:52 and this particular spot that we was fishing across the creek from it I mean it would take a shot put player to throw this that far which at 11.30 at night probably there was nobody out there doing that to some kids that were fishing. And that was kind of strange. I can't tie that up to Bigfoot, but that's just kind of one of the strange occurrences, which kind of helped me get to my beliefs. And then it just happened that that same friend in me, a few years later, as we're getting a little older,
Starting point is 00:08:26 we decided to do some coyote hunting one night. So, you know, we had a makeshift, you know, red lens light. I had a portable Bluetooth speaker with an ox cord that I was trying to play Predator calls through. And this was in January, and it was a really unseasonably warm January. So it was kind of misty, kind of rainy. It was probably about 60, maybe upper 50s that night. And we had thought that it was odd that it was as calm as it was.
Starting point is 00:08:57 but we decided, you know, we was going to go into the woods, kind of come down into this little valley between two ridges and try to call to some of these coyotes that would work this bottom. And we probably weren't set up 30 minutes, you know, and I'm kind of playing distressed rabbit sounds and what have you through this speaker, and we had stopped. And we're just kind of sitting there scanning this woods with this red light that we've got. and a tree branch broke and fell right next to us or was thrown next to us. And when it hit the ground, we had heard something go tearing off the opposite direction. And we didn't stick around by any means. We got up and we was gone. And I remember I kind of feel bad to the day because I left him.
Starting point is 00:09:47 You know, I had the gun. He had the light and I was gone. And he gets back to the house and he's like, what in the world? He just left me. And I'm like, I don't know what that was. And then, you know, I kind of went back the next day. You know, he had went home and I'd went back myself. And I had found what I presume was this tree branch that had fell.
Starting point is 00:10:09 And I want to say it was, it wasn't a doughty limb, but it was probably the end of a baseball bat bigger round. But it was broke and it was green still. it didn't have no foliage on it because it was January, but it was still green, which makes me pose the idea that it was broke off and then thrown at us. Yeah, and I know a lot of things that happened up until this point in this area, and we'll get into some other things that happened to you, but at this point, what do you think is going on? So at this point, I had kind of gotten a, gotten kind of into the subject and kind of was like,
Starting point is 00:10:55 You know, I've had some crazy things happen. I hadn't heard anything or seen anything definitive at that point to make me. But that was probably the first one because hearing the creature runoff, and I say creature because I don't know what it is, it was big. I mean, it wasn't a raccoon up in a tree and the limb broke and it hit the ground and took off running. I mean, this was something big. and we never did see eyes, we never did hear any other sounds. So at that point, I had kind of had an idea of what I thought was I believed in, and that's kind of what my mind went to.
Starting point is 00:11:39 And that's kind of just the precursor to, the really interesting stuff, which, you know, I had grew up and quit, you know, running around with him. And, you know, me and him, we was always kind of just night owls. We was always out running around at night, walking the roads, you know, doing what what kids do. And so I kind of, you know, I grew up, you know, I've gotten married and all that good stuff. Well, this would have started in 2019. It was whenever me and my wife had moved into our first house together. And it was my grandma's old place.
Starting point is 00:12:15 And it's just, I want to say, maybe four miles across the county road from where the, The incident occurred when we was coyote hunting that night. And, you know, we was moving stuff in, and it was late one night and stuff. And I remember, I was, you know, unpacking boxes. And I went out and just piled them up along the edges of woods and burned them. And I would hear, like, strange noises that I just didn't really know what they were. And I just laughed at them. And I don't know why I come up with this name, but my wife had heard them.
Starting point is 00:12:48 And she's like, what is that? And I'm like, oh, that's the Wabi Gong monster. That's what I'm going to call it. and it had really started in 2020 when COVID happened. You know, we couldn't do anything. So I would always, I'd be out at my campfire. I had a creek rock fire ring that I made, like, make campfires in. And, I mean, I'd be out there, you know, I'd cook breakfast.
Starting point is 00:13:13 I'd cook dinner. I'd, you know, just go out there and I would make coffee and just anything I could think of. that I could cook on an open fire, I was doing it because I didn't have anything else to do. And that's when things started kind of, I don't know if maybe the cooking food was bringing it in or just me being outside doing something out of the ordinary for today's times was getting this curiosity.
Starting point is 00:13:42 But that's when I would start hearing strange sounds. I would get weird feelings at night. There was, and so in the kitchen, there was a window that faced the woods by the sink, and then down next to the refrigerator was another window facing the same way. And then there was a door on the side of the house that faced towards the yard in the other part of the woods. And I would get really uneasy feelings, and they're not all the time, but just some days, you know, some nights I'd walk through and I would feel watched. Now, I never did see anything. And, of course, we had a security light or pole light, whatever you would want to call it. But it was on the opposite end of the house, in between the house and the shed.
Starting point is 00:14:34 But that same year, I was getting ready to go deer hunting at my dad's place. And it was early in the morning, and I was getting stuff, putting it in the truck. And I had walked out the front door and was walking towards the truck. and we had a fuel oil tank. That's how our furnace ran was through fuel oil. And I'd heard something smack and wring this tank like a gong and heard something tear off through the woods. Well, I grabbed my light and ran around the back of the house and shined it real quick.
Starting point is 00:15:08 And, of course, something was gone. And I just kind of like, okay, that's kind of weird. Well, I'm going to go to the woods now. because I'm a fairly avid hunter. I'm in the woods quite a bit. So I kind of have a pretty good idea of things that are out here and things that. So I just kind of was like, okay, well, I don't have time to mess with this. It's going to be getting daylight soon.
Starting point is 00:15:33 So I hopped in the truck, went and, you know, did my morning hunting, afternoon hunting, whatever. And I came home. Well, I went behind the house and just looked around. And there was no limbs. there was no, you know, fruit trees or nut trees right there for to fall on this fuel oil tank. And there was just nothing around it. It was like something had smacked it with its hand. And so this is the part where it gets really good.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Now, now at this point, we're getting into the 2020, 2021 point. And we, so, you know, young kids, you know, we had black plastic over our bedroom windows to keep heat. because the house was old. It wasn't real well insulated. So I would hang this real thick black plastic over the bedroom windows. And I would put like those cheap fleece throw blankets that you can get from the store like around Christmas time. I had a couple of those and I hung, eat one over each window. And this was one of our last nights living in that house, unfortunately, because we had decided that we was going to move.
Starting point is 00:16:45 my wife had gotten pregnant and some other living arrangements come up that we was going to start renting a house off my uncle. The funny and the oddest part of this is, is I heard this sound in my dream as it was happening. And I wake up to my wife nudging me and she says, listen, listen, this has been going on for about 30 minutes. And I'm laying there listening and it's getting closer and closer and closer and closer. And I mean, it got to the point where I had probably listened to it for about 10 minutes before it got to where I could hear whatever was walking outside the bedroom window. And I mean, we're talking there's less than three feet between me and this creature.
Starting point is 00:17:36 And at this point, we have a little dog and he started doing this real little growl, which he does right before he barks. And I remember my wife grabbing him by the nose so he wouldn't bark. I can imitate this sound to a T. I mean, I heard it that good, that clear. It's kind of a high-pitched O with a sharp-up sound. So it's kind of like, whoop, whoop. And that's about the duration and the gaps between it.
Starting point is 00:18:12 I mean, there wasn't much more than a second. in between each call. And like I said, I had heard this for about 10 minutes while I was awake. And my wife had said that it was going on for about 30 minutes before she decided to wake me up. Because it was, she doesn't know what she thinks. She knows what she's heard that night. But, I mean, it was scaring her, that it was getting closer. And I could hear, and this is in February of the year,
Starting point is 00:18:46 I could hear something in between me and the wall. It was outside the wall walking in the leaves. And I don't want to say that it was heavy footfall, but it was very spaced out footfall. And to this day, I kicked myself for not, you know, pulling the plastic and pulling this blanket down and looking out the window to see what it was. I mean, there was a window inches from my head where this thing was walking at.
Starting point is 00:19:23 And this was on the side of the house that the pole light was on. But at the moment, I didn't really think about that. And I just kind of laid there listening. And I could tell that it had crossed the road and had left the yard. And so the protective person, I got up, I went to the gun cabinet, got a gun out, and I went out on the porch. And I didn't turn the light on and it was silent. And I was standing on the porch.
Starting point is 00:19:52 And it made that sound one time with me on the porch. And it was so, when I was outside in the open air with it, I could feel it in my chest. And it kind of like, it was almost like I could feel a humming sound in my chest, though, when it made that noise. And I racked a shell into the ground. about three times and went back in the house and said, okay, it's probably not coming back. If you've ever heard of, in your research, of a place that they have something that they call
Starting point is 00:20:29 the Crosley Monster out here in Indiana, that that's about 15 minutes from where I'm sitting currently, which is about five minutes away from the house that I lived in at this time. and to this day I still I regret not looking but more so I regret intimidating it because I I didn't feel threatened personally but I knew my wife was upset with what was happening because she didn't really know what to think of it because I didn't feel that there was any ill intent and I just think that it was curious of me more so than it was trying to gain anything because I'm kind of an odd duck, I guess you would call it. You know, I'm, you know, I have a campfire and I'll cook food outside, you know, that's not real common in today's society.
Starting point is 00:21:30 And I'm always outside, you know, I might be shooting my bow or I might shoot a gun or, you know, there was, at the same year that this happened, you know, for two days, I had a deer case. a pain from a tree that I was trying to thaw out so I could flesh it out, you know, type of thing. You know, like these animals are creatures that you, I feel like I don't want to say I connected with them, but I want to say that I piqued their curiosity because I didn't really do anything aggressive towards them. I used to always, like, if we would make, like, food and I would have leftover vegetables, I would go and throw it in the woods. Or if I had, you know, scraps out of the fridge, I would throw it in the woods. You know, I could have been feeding one of these things for all I know.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Yeah, I wouldn't feel bad about firing off a couple rounds in the ground. I mean, you made a lot of noise and the creature ran off and everyone lived. After this, did anything else happen? No, nothing else had happened. And I want to say, I can put a double. on that to be February 28th. And we moved out March 1st. And again, we didn't move very far.
Starting point is 00:22:52 It only about a five-minute drive, you know. I kind of stay in a little localized area where my family lives. I don't like to stray too far from home, if that makes sense. Yeah, that does make sense. I can understand wanting to be close to family. I mean, you basically still live there. You're only five minutes away. do you think that they were just passing through this area?
Starting point is 00:23:18 No, I think that there is a, can I believe they're fairly sophisticated. I think that there's a family group around. And the only reason I say that is the sound that I had heard outside my bedroom window to me struck me as a female. but the presence I would feel whenever I was, you know, standing in my kitchen or walking through my kitchen and felt watched, that had a very ominous male watching a feel to it. Yeah, I know what you mean, and it's very hard to articulate that, but I get exactly what you mean. And again, you're only five minutes away.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Has there been anything strange happen at the new place? Or have you been back to the old home? I drive by the old place quite often. And some new people have moved in. And they kind of made it a dump. It's quite sad. But the last occurrence that I have had between then and shortly after we had moved, would have been in June of 21.
Starting point is 00:24:36 And I was coming back from the races one night. There's a lot of auto racing in the state of Indiana, and particularly this night. I was coming back from a USAC sprint car event. And it was 1130 at night, and I had turned off a county road onto another county road that would take me directly to the main highway, which I live on now,
Starting point is 00:25:02 is on the main highway. And this county road, where this had happened, is less than two-minute drive from the house. I mean, we're talking within a mile on this county road, and you're at my door. And I had come around this S-curve in this road, and it happened so fast. I got a good look, but I can't put a face to it because I only got a side profile, but I was no more. more than 12 feet away when it had come out of a cornfield or was getting ready to go into the cornfield and had turned and went back into the timber. And I got a good look, and it was on two legs.
Starting point is 00:25:50 And when it had first happened, I chalked it up to be, in my head, a cinnamon-colored black bear. because that was the color of it and my mind it immediately went to oh my God I just seen a black bear in Indiana you know that's crazy you know you've heard of it it happens but it's so rare
Starting point is 00:26:11 so I you know I passed it and it had moved off the road and I you know I drove on to the house and I remember coming in I woke my wife up and said oh you're not going to believe this I'd just seen a bear and she's like okay whatever go to bed. Well, I'd stayed up and had thought about it and, you know, I'd put it on Facebook that I think
Starting point is 00:26:34 I seen a bear. I don't know what this was. This is crazy. And some people told me, you know, hey, call it in, you know, they need to know about this. And I never did. And it hit me that, well, this thing cleared the road on two legs. It didn't drop down on all fours. It cleared in two legs. And it wasn't no more than three steps that it cleared, well, I'm going to call a lane and a half county road. So it's big enough that two cars can pass each other, but it's probably better that somebody pulls over a little bit. Yeah, I think a lot of people do this chase to where, you know what I think it is, I think when we see something that isn't supposed to exist or our brain can't comprehend.
Starting point is 00:27:22 We'll go bear. We'll go with bear. I hear a lot of hunters do it. I hear a lot of people do this, actually. And then they'll stop and reflect on it and go, you know, that was a really weird looking bear. And I can imagine, you know, I don't know if I've ever seen a cinnamon colored black bear. But when you, going back to that moment, when you were looking at this saying, what stood out to you? The height, way I can describe the height.
Starting point is 00:27:54 and for some of the listeners that are familiar kind of with what I'm going to refer to as a rural area stop sign, you know, in town a stop sign might be real short. A lot of times out on these rural, you know, county roads, they're kind of tall. This thing was at least as tall as the top of a stop sign that you would find out in the country. So I want to say, you know, without putting the tape on it, I want to say it was at least eight feet to the head. Yeah, what you saw was huge, for sure. I'm trying to think out there in Indiana, do you guys even have black bears? I guess maybe Southern is you get closer to, like, Kentucky or something?
Starting point is 00:28:37 It happens. It's fairly rare. I know a few years ago there was a whole, oh, my God, this bear walked from Tennessee and swam the Ohio River, and it's the same bear, and everybody in Indiana seen it, and BS. you know, if you don't put a tracking device on it, you're not going to tell me that bear walked in Tennessee and made its way to Indiana without finding some sort of habitat that it wants to stay in.
Starting point is 00:29:08 I mean, logically, you know, coming from a wildlife standpoint, it's not going to go that far, especially leaving known bear habitat to look for a mate or food in a non-bear state, if that makes sense. I've heard stories, you know, from some old-timers around that, yeah, we had a black bear at one time and, you know, it kind of made its way and moved off. And there's been a couple people that have claimed to have seen them. I've never seen one.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I run multiple trail cameras on the properties that me and my dad deer hunt, and I've never had a picture of one. Yeah, you never really hear of anyone, any bear hunters out there in Indiana. Was this kind of the last thing that happened to you? Yes. Unfortunately, it's been the last thing that I can say I've seen or heard that was strange. But what else had got me on it was I could see the color difference between skin and fur or hair. And again, I just got a side profile of the face. So it was a very small area that I could see.
Starting point is 00:30:23 but I remember the hand. The hand was almost like there was no hair on the hand, but it was a sort of a gray color, and so was the area of skin on the face was a grayer color. And the hair was like a rusty orange or a cinnamon color. And the hair seemed wispy to me. I didn't see matted clumps or anything. It just seemed wispy.
Starting point is 00:30:53 I'm curious on how this changed your life because when you were growing up, you know, you didn't really buy into Bigfoot, but there was a lot of weird things going on, especially with that old man and his quote-unquote friend. And then, you know, you have these experiences much later in life. And we're talking about very recent encounters around this property. How did this change your life or did it? Once I kind of, you know, figured out what my belief on the subject was, I didn't care what anybody thought, you know, you can think I'm crazy, you can think I'm a kook, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:33 you do you. But what I seen, what I heard is what I know. And I want to say that it changed me to be more of a broad thinker. And a lot of people, you know, of course, I've told coworkers that I work with about this and they just laugh, you know, they're, okay, you know, show me a body and then I'll believe what you said. And I just tell them, I can't make you believe anything. I'm just telling you what I've heard and what I've seen. And I've got nothing to gain from it. But it's kind of helped me open my eyes up to there's a lot more things going on than what mainstream society
Starting point is 00:32:20 leads us to believe. Yeah, I think everyone kind of goes through that after an encounter. You kind of look around and go, you know, what else did I think that was BS? That might be true. So I get it. I think it does open your mind up and you start to realize there's way more going on in this world than people realize. Did you ever have a chance to sit down with the old man and kind of have like a real, real conversation with them or have him go into any sort of depth about who his friend was or what was going on there? You know, I asked him on several occasions. You know, he would always give me the same response.
Starting point is 00:33:05 He would just chuckle and say that's his friend and, you know, stick around one night and, you know, you might get to meet him. And, you know, I was at this time, I was, you know, 11 years old, you know, my mom would come pick me up whenever she felt it was time for me to come home. So, you know, we never really stayed real late there in the day. of the night, but he never would give me a straight answer on who it was. He just said that it was his friend and told me to stick around and I'd get to meet him. Yeah, I understand. Be nice to sit down with that old man and pick his brain as far as what he's experienced or what he knows. I'm sure the old man's gone by now. Let me ask you, Chase, what do you think Sasquatch is? What's kind of your take after all of these experiences you've had?
Starting point is 00:34:03 I've taken some time to think about it. I believe it's a flesh and blood creature. I think they're sophisticated. You know, they obviously avoid our radar pretty good. But, you know, there's a curiosity aspect and there's an emotional aspect that these things seem to, to kind of have a human aspect. I think that it's somewhere down the line.
Starting point is 00:34:37 I don't want to call it a branch, but maybe a split and kind of our evolutionary timeline that maybe they didn't need to evolve the way we did. So they just kind of hung out and did their thing. I would say that there's more of an animal thing just because of the way they communicate, I think, with the sounds over a language.
Starting point is 00:35:06 And I've heard a lot of the recordings of the chatter and stuff, but to me it sounds more of a sound communication, kind of like birds, a bird will chatter, but it's communicating with sound over a language. Yeah, I think that's a fair answer. I mean, I can understand where you're coming from, being a hunter and outdoorsman and what you're trying to say. I mean, you know, even a non-human primate is technically in our family tree.
Starting point is 00:35:36 So I get it. I get where you're coming from. And, you know, one of the things you brought up with that whoop. And just from doing this show and listening to so much audio, especially those whoops over and over and over again, I picked up on that a long time ago. It's more of a whoop with an O, not a W. you. And I think it's fascinating. You picked that up when you heard it in person. Let me ask you, if you had the chance, would you want to see another one? Yes, intimidated personally.
Starting point is 00:36:11 I've never thought that what's happening is aggressive, except for the one time that we was coyote hunting and this thing had got thrown at us. That, I, I, I think that was more, okay, I'm going to find food, and now, you know, these two kids are out here, you know, giving me the runaround. So it was kind of upset. I wouldn't have a problem with seeing one. And I've had some strange things happen. Like one time, you know, I had a, I found this on the Internet where you could take a peanut butter jar and you could screw it to a tree. and, you know, you could get pictures on your trail camera from deer and stuff.
Starting point is 00:36:59 And I had one camera blacked out, and in the next picture, there's nothing there, and my peanut butter jar was gone. And, you know, that was in the middle of summer. You know, there's not that many raccoons that can just do that. And, you know, something had ripped off this peanut butter jar lid that I screwed to a tree. Yeah, and that's the weird stuff I struggle with. I mean, you hear a lot of eyewitnesses talk about that. A lot of hunters where they're baiting and they're putting it in front of their camera and the camera blacks out and there's no picture taken, but the food is taken.
Starting point is 00:37:37 I mean, that gets reported more than you might think. And, you know, if it was just once, you could say, well, it's a camera malfunction. But, you know, I hear about this a lot, a lot of, and I've seen it in person, actually, there was one time we were out on a site and the guy decided he was going to bait this thing. And his camera, it was like a malfunction. It was everything was just black, but all the food was gone. And like I said, if it happens once, you can chuck it up to a malfunction, but it happens a lot. It gets reported a lot.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Yeah, I mean, it was just black. There was no, like, sliver of picture. It was just black. And then the next picture, the job. is gone. But what's even kind of more weird is I ended up finding the lid of that jar, and it had a bite mark on it. It wasn't a real big bite mark, but it was something that had, I want to say, molars that bit this jar. It was in a block of woods that my family owns. And this was, this would, I want to say, this predates any of my sightings and any of the sounds.
Starting point is 00:38:49 This would probably been back in 2010 maybe that I did this little experiment one summer. And I had asked some people, I was like, hey, have you guys never had anything like this happen? And they're like, no, why would we go put a peanut butter jar in the woods? And I just said, well, I found on the internet where you cut the bottom off and you put it to a tree and a deer will lick it out and you can get pictures. Yeah, it makes you wonder what got it. And I know a lot of Bigfoot investigators do that. they'll do the peanut butter thing out there in the woods, hang it. And, you know, I don't know if anyone's ever had success with that.
Starting point is 00:39:28 But a lot of hunters do that, too. I know in most states, that's pretty much outlawed. You can't bait, you know, animals, but a lot of people still do it. Let me ask you, I mean, you're still in this area, and I've had a ton of encounters come from southern Indiana. a lot of eyewitnesses have come forward from that area. You know, after all these experiences, do you go out looking for this creature? I don't want to say I actively go out in the woods and make calls and do knocks and all that good stuff. But when I'm driving around, I like to get out and just go on country drives.
Starting point is 00:40:09 And I go to the races a lot. So I come home and it's, you know, it's after 11, 12, sometimes. 1 o'clock in the morning when I get home. And, you know, I get quite a bit of windshield time driving around out here. And I'm always looking. Once you start to see this or hear these things, you're always, you want to see it again or you're at least being aware in looking around. And, you know, naturally, you know, I'm a big, you know, deer hunter, more so now than I was
Starting point is 00:40:38 in my earlier years. I was more of a fishing guy. But I'm always looking, looking for deer, looking at. for coyotes, you know, looking for turkeys in the fields. So I'm always looking around. And when I spot something that stands out, it don't take much for me to stop and check it out. You know, I've got binoculars in a spotlight in my vehicle at all times. Yeah, I think most eyewitnesses can relate to that. I think after you've seen one, you're on high alert, you know, anytime you're in the woods or you're hiking and way more than you would have been prior to
Starting point is 00:41:15 to seeing or experiencing these things. And I get where you're coming from on it, Chase. And, you know, I really appreciate you taking the time to come on and share what happened to you, you know, from the point of growing up to just a few years ago, having these experiences happen to you. I really enjoyed chatting with you, Chase, and keep me up to date. Let me know if anything else happens, will you? Well, thank you.
Starting point is 00:41:46 You know, I was wanting to say this to you because I felt like this was probably, if not more important than, you know, my actual account. I appreciate what you've done with your show. And I've been listening for about a year. You know, I admire what you do and I appreciate what you do. You give people a voice. And I've always been open to talk about this with anybody. but I very much more keep it to the point that I've seen something weird, I heard something weird, I think it was a big foot, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:42:23 because I get a lot of ridicule, a lot of people that, and it's more so people that don't know me as well, they're like, well, you're crazy, you got apophonia, you've got, you know, you got something wrong upstairs, you know, you're not really seeing this, you didn't hear this, this was, that was an owl type of thing. and the only people that have ever actually listened to me or wanted to hear more is my family members who know me. You know, I have nothing to gain from this. You know, why would I go and make up a story that I seen, you know, some creature out one night?
Starting point is 00:43:00 So I really appreciate that you give somebody a platform to listen to, to reassure themselves, what they seen or what they heard was real. Because when you see it and when you know, that's just about as good of concrete evidence as you can have. And out in my area, there's not a lot of kids anymore. We've all kind of grew up. There's nobody running around one night, you know, in a costume trying to poke fun or do jokes. I mean, it's a very Christian-based rural community.
Starting point is 00:43:39 with a lot of older people and a lot of trigger happy people. People just don't run around out here and do tricks like that. Yeah, I understand we're coming from. I mean, it might be suicide to put on an ape costume and run around in the woods. It's a great way to get shot. And a lot comes out of Southern Indiana. I've had a lot of people come forward from that area. But, you know, thank you so much for the kind of words, Chase.
Starting point is 00:44:08 and thank you again for coming on. Absolutely. And again, I thank you so much for the opportunity to come on here because it feels good to actually tell everything as it was instead of trying to just, you know, dumb it down for the people who really don't care. They just want to ask you questions so they can laugh, you know, type of thing. Yeah, I understand. Thank you again, Chase.
Starting point is 00:44:35 And that's it for tonight, everyone. and remember if you've had an encounter, shoot me an email. My email address is Wes at Sasquatch Chronicles.com. And if you get a chance to check out Sasquatch Chronicles.com, you can become a member and get additional shows. Have a great weekend, everyone.
